Is Martinez ready to take over? Robin replaces Cesc & Fabianski wants out…

When did we last have a summer without speculation that one of our players was about to leave – in search of silverware?

We had it with Vieira, then Henry and last summer it was all about Cesc!

Now of course, it’s all about Robin van Persie and it’s boring, so much so, no more posts will be about him staying or going until something is concrete from afc.com!

There is more to be thinking about than just one player, what about Theo Walcott and Alex Song – both of their contracts run out at the same time so why have no talks taken place with him yet?

Both RvP and Theo are off now to join their respective countries and won’t be back until the end of June at the earliest and then no doubt they will need a month off to rest so we will be heading towards August and the start of a new season.

All will unfold over the next couple of months no doubt but as we all keep saying, this should have been sorted out months ago.

Fabianski has been talking to Gazeta Wyborcza:

I hope that my adventure with Arsenal has come to an end, I intend to leave and play in a strong league. I wanted to leave in the winter, too, but Arsène Wenger did not give a green light.

So, with Almunia off and Fabianski on his way, will Arsene Wenger sign a keeper with experience or just keep ‘his money’ in his pocket and rely on young Martinez?

The young Argentine has impressed in the reserves this season and at just 19 years old he believes that he could be the one to take over from Fabianski. He has had two appearances on the first-team bench – against Shrewsbury and Leeds – and he is desperate to cement his place as the number 2 for his club.

“I have been training all my life and I am ready to play”.

However, surely it would be a step far to far to throw him into the squad in August, surely he needs a season, maybe more out on loan and get used to playing regular football and learning his trade elsewhere. The only way to learn at his age is by playing, sitting on our bench for the next few years will not do him or our club any good.

We need an older, wiser and far more experienced keeper in the squad, one who will push the sometimes erratic Szczesny for the number one spot, not a 19 year old rookie. He is not the solution and surely even Arsene Wenger would agree this time.

Martinez maybe tall, strong and called up for his country but that’s not enough, his day may come but not for a while….

Jussi Jääskeläinen is my choice, he is out of contract at Bolton this summer and is no longer their first choice keeper….

Snap him up I say, and with it comes our future goal keeping coach….

    Morning all

    Thanks…

  2. rico says:

Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon is one of nine players released by the Premier League club.

There you go, watch Wenger snap him up 😉

  3. rockyrocastle07 says:

Morning all. Just a quick post as I’m off out in a sec, but what’s happened to James Shea? Is he still with us?!

  4. AKA Jack Gooner RVP says:

I think Arsenal should buy Gordon on a free transfer for a back up 4 Szczesny

  5. AKA Jack Gooner RVP says:

@rockyrocastle07 yes he is, he is at D&R onloan but he should be back from his loan in the summer

  6. allezkev says:

Apparantly there is a lot of misinformation in the Press concerning contracts.
Well this is my understanding of the situation:

2013, RVP, Walcott, Squillaci, Afobe, Aneke, Miquel, Botelho, Watt, Frimpong.

2014; Song, Gibbs, Djourou, Koscielny, Sagna, Rosicky, Sir Chesney, Chamuck, Bendtner, Denilson, Lansbury, Mannone.

2015; Vermaelen, Miyaichi, Gervinho, Park, Coquelin, Mertesaker, Santos, Jenkinson, Diaby, Campbell, Vela, Arteta.

    2016; Ramsey, Wilshere, Wellington.

    2017; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

    That’s all i know…. 🙂

  7. rico says:

    Gordon is a good age, 29 – and a 6′ 4″

    🙂

Welcome AKA Jack Gooner RvP – Aka for short 😉

    No idea on RvP…

  8. allezkev says:

    Good Morning Gooners.
    Very Good Morning Rico.

    Yes, Squill… 😀
Adam would be devestated if Squill ‘slipped’ through our fingers….

  9. allezkev says:

    Great post btw Rico….

Did you see that about a suspected Twitter campaign by Shittie fans?!
apparantly they are firing off abusive Tweets to RVP and his wife, whilst pretending to be Gooners, in an effort to drive a wedge between Robin and the fans/club…

  10. pistolpete says:

I agree with you, let’s not talk any more about RvP untill the truth comes out, like you i am fed up with it.

  11. Romford Pele (HC) says:

He’s alright from what I remember Rico, at least he’d keep Szczesny on his toes.

  12. allezkev says:

It seems they did likewise a year ago with Nasri as their target?
Not sure of the validity of the claims, but it could open a can of worms with all sorts of bogus Tweets going off in all directios.

You can be sure that they’ll be retaliation if the rumours are true….

  13. rico says:

Hi pistolpete, yes, it’s become a headline which is boring, what will be will be, tbh, i’m more interested in who we are going to sign, get that right and he and Theo will no doubt stay….

  14. rico says:

Wonder why he’s not deemed good enough for Sunderland though Romford?

Unless he wants a big move for himself and just didn’t sign a new contract..

Thank goodness i don’t follow twitter Ak 😉

  15. allezkev says:

Rico, you certainly have some interesting advertisments coming up on here now…

Lose 4 stone in 3 months, hmmm, sounds like a miracle diet to me… 😀

  16. rico says:

😆 Ak, apparently its a WP add on, something which I may remove later, once i know how 😉

  17. allezkev says:

    Twitter is ok Rico….

    It’s just the looey-tunes who go on it… 😯

Got some ACLF type Gravatars coming up now boss.

    Times, they are a changing…

  18. The font says:

The bit about not having our so called players already tied down on longer contracts is a strange one I think the club has realised that if it gives players large increases it means nothing (cesc) had his wages doubled and his contract extended but as soon as he said he wanted to leave the club followed its policy of not keeping players 100% committed to arsenal football club and IMHO rightly let him go there is an argument that if you want to sell you can get more money on long contracts in the case of Rvp if he does not want to sign we options (1) sell him £25million is his expected value
    (2) make him play out his contract
A lot of people will say take the money

  19. rico says:

Oops, i’ll change them now 😉

I do read Twitter, but I struggle to follow it tbh…. Bit like most things on a computer …

  20. rico says:

I have to head of out for the day, be back later this afternoon..

Hope henri has a good game later but hope big sam’s lot lose 😉

    Have a good day all….

  21. rico says:

Hi The font, part of me says sell, the other says, make him stay….

but if he then gets injured at the euros….. thank goodness we don’t have to make that decision…

    Laters guys…

  22. joywedsjeff says:

  23. Joaquim Moreira says:

    good morning
No important news today, Time to relax and wait firt he champions league final.

  24. insani says:

My opinion is that RVP is crucial for Arsenal so Wenger needs to keep him at whatever cost. RVP could lkead Arsenal to glory. One mor thing if he goes to Arsenal rivals such as Mu, Mcity o Chelsea definitely either det team have great chance to earn trophy domestically o in Europe..
As for Song Wenger may have cemented M’ Villa and for Walcot he has already have replacement in Chamberlain.. So they are not so critical..but RVP is very dangerous to be released..

  25. The font says:

We do not want a tevez situation if he wants out let him go giroud looks amazing over there if he could bring half of that to arsenal I would be happy but he will only come if van leaves lose if you win win if you lose that’s arsenal

  26. alanbstardmp says:

If that idiotic board would only get good epl lads I bet Robin will stay. Holt, Drogba,, Dempsey, a couple of good defenders, local players that Robin knows and has high regard for

However, if he is intent on leaving, let him go

  27. Thorny says:

    Morning

What would you do if wenger came on TV all of a sudden and confirmed signings of M’vila, Vertongen, and Hazard and confirmed the re signing of RVP, song, walcot and then publicly launched a challenge on allcomers for the EPL and CL whilst clenching his fist and saying “the cannons are ready…..we’re coming to get you”.

    (No “hat eating” allowed)

You know its a perfectly realistic scenario…..I just wonder why it doesnt happen. He’d have some super happy gooners.

  28. alanbstardmp says:

I would look down and find a 12 inch dick. Just what I always wanted. Alas Thorny, my dream, like yours, will not eventuate. I’ll bet a sheep station on it

  29. The font says:

Thorny hazard does not want to come we’re not in for j.v. IMO we will sign m.villa and song will be sold to the Italians theo will resign and contrary to all the signs robin will stay

  30. The font says:

My dream was also to look down and see a 12 inch dick but my doctor said he would not cut it in half for anybody

  31. The font says:

Alanb When on form I love the way arsenal play I think a creative midfielder to replace nas / fab is what we need defence splitting passes is what were missing

  32. Charlie G says:

Martinez needs to go out on loan a season or two to prove himself gain experience and most of all deal with mistakes and criticism. We need an experienced cover.

  33. alanbstardmp says:

    Font

Yes I agree when on form, like the second half of the Spurs 5-2 match. However we give away too many goals. Maybe a couple of conservative quality players to stabilize it all

  34. devilgunner says:

Good Morning Fine Folk of St Totteringham’s Faith.

I have just read that RVP has asked for 275K pw. For that money I would sell him. That is obscene.

Watch for some merry go round music chairs on the Bosman Transfers. Gordon and Jussi are both on a free. Kalou on a free. Anyone wants a bet that two out of these three will end up at the Emirates?

And I have also read that Demba Ba has a release clause of 7million. Sell RVP and get him I would say. Business well done.

  35. devilgunner says:

Now both Gordon and Jussi are better than MA and Flappy. So in that department we will be better off. Yes I would promote Martinez…but only so that he can learn from Chesney and one of the above. Maybe for looks and physique some might plump for Jussi, but as regards age I would go for Gordon.

  36. Devil says:

Devilgunner its most likely Jussii is going to West Brom. But I’d surely go for Craig Gordon or even McGregor from Rangers. Both are decent keepers. But personally I am a big Craig Gordon fan. Every time I saw him he had kept every bloody thing out. He was just mind boggling. If I am not wrong we even tried to buy him. But we couldn’t. And Mcgregor is highly rated. It was said Red nose tried signing him. Any one of them for Fab are fine.

Apart from that I’d want to ask everyone a question. Why everyone is going gaga over J.V.? We all know Puyol is about to retire and Barca are in for a CB. Wouldn’t have they tried signing him had he been such a beast?

  37. The font says:

Spurs fan takes his wife to casualty she’s no front teeth broken fingers and a black eye doctor says what’s happened here Spurs fan says she has just started going through the change doctor says that doesn’t normally happen when your going through the change spurs fan replies it does when it’s in my fucking pocket

  38. devilgunner says:

    Good one Font.

Devil……………the only Devil around is me. 😉

Yesterday I heard that PSG are not sure if they will keep Sakho. Maybe that is the answer that AFC are no longer after JV??? Sakho+M’Vila=French. Do you honestly expect any different???

  39. devilgunner says:

Gordon – who has won 40 caps for Scotland – made 95 appearances in five years, having struggled with injuries and inconsistency.

He broke an arm twice then suffered a knee tendon problem and anterior cruciate ligament damage, the latter ruling him out for eight months from April 2011.

  40. Devil says:

Oh Gordon is just not injury prone but a Gk with flair. He’s just joy to watch when on song. Well he was only flair player at that time(I forgot Gyan). And we all know AW’s love for Flair+hardworking player. So for me he fits the bill.

And Idk anything about Sakho story but had heard he was good. And he too can play LB, so may be. But I really doubt we’d buy any defender. May be Miquel will be promoted. He’s a really decent CB. He’s calm, composed, defends with smile and he’s ball playing abilities are second to none. So may be we won’t buy any defender at all. Or our new signing Bould would come out and play. haha. Well he certainly looks fit.

  41. Thorny says:

Olympic torch is within 10 miles of me at the moment apparently, dont feel any different yet but who knows……………….

I think missing out on mata was such mistake, water under the bridge now I know but i hope someone has learnt something.

Its gone quite quiet re Dempsey these days, I really think he’s worth pusuing. Tight lipped end to the week all round.

  42. allezkev says:

    DevilG, i wouldn’t believe that £275k rumour….

That sounds like a typical piece of Press ‘shit-stirring’…

We’re in for a ton of that crap this summer…

As it stands no top EPL club has signed anyone, other that Arsenal with Podolski, although CFC seem to have Marko Marin lined up…

Lets not allow all those Media cnuts the pleasure of winding us all up…

  43. The font says:

It’s not often I want the spuds to have anything but I can not stand the thought of that animal john terry getting. His tainted hands on that trophy we say we’re not good enough at the moment but there would be few who would argue Chelsea were better than us this season the luck has been with them in the C.L something we have not had much of in that particular competition COME ON BAYERN

  44. Joaquim Moreira says:

275k a week is too much even RVP can do an equal season again. (I’m not believe in that…)

  45. allezkev says:

See that there’s rumours again of David Dein joining Liverpool as their Director of Football…

  46. The font says:

Allez if that’s the case seeing he is arsenal through and through he might advise them to swap Suarez Steve g and dan aggar for squilichy. Denison chumuck + £50 mill

  47. devilgunner says:

Hiya Sir AK. Hope you all are fine.

This is my opinion on RVP.

Forget the 275K per week. Forget everything. IMO AW has noticed that RVP is in the red light zone on the GPS. And that means that there is a big chance that he might get injured in the coming Euro Cup. So I feel that AW has instructed IG to drag his feet to see the outcome of the nations cup. Now before someone jumps on my back answer these questions……

    1) What happens if RVP signs 275Kpw and gets a long term injury which keeps him out of action for around a year? He will be 30 when he sees the next action.

    2) what happens if RVP does not sign with the club and still gets injured long term? He will have to remain on 80kpw and to top it all he will be paid by the insurance and by the German FA.

    3) Do you think that clubs like shitty are dumb enough to sign RVP before a major t’ment knowing full well that RVP might get injured since he has quite a long record of injuries??

    4) Are AFC, AW and IG DUMB enough to give a good contract to RVP knowing quite well that if he has a good t’ment he can fetch 25mill or more and they would get someone like BA for just 7 million??

In a way I am quite livid that he has not been sold.

I like him as a player but my footballing mind does not work only as a supporter. It observes from a distance and sees the whole picture not simply up to my nose.

FFS there are other strikers around which will cost much less than we will get for him.

  48. devilgunner says:

Righto……off for now. Got to help the missus with the monthly shopping.

    Later Fine Folk.

  49. Joaquim Moreira says:

i’ts the idea I have in my mind, devil.
The probabliity of RVP has a long term injury, for me, it’s very high. Therefore, after the European Cup, what will be RVP performance in the new season? It were be a hard season 2011/2012; he hasn’t a proper time for rest and relax; we will start the preparation for next seasom later… and he hasn’t 22 or 25 yeard old.
Probably we need fresh, young and new blood …

  50. The font says:

Devil I can see a point if he does go lame but that applies to any player he is undoubtably world class and genuinely loves arsenal if you really are looking from a distance you will see that it is imperative that we keep him for many reasons the whole team looks up to him he will attract other world class players and he is desperate to win we already have to buy 2/3 players to fit into the team so getting rid of our best player would be another cog to be fitted in to the wheel and commercially financial suicide arsenal will be doing everything they can above and beyond the norm to keep him but ultimately it’s Rvp choice

  51. Joaquim Moreira says:

    international sport press:
Van Persie Arsenal and near the rupture
Robin van Persie may be forcing his departure from Arsenal. The Dutch forward contract expires at the end of next season and according to the “Daily Mirror” will be asking for astronomical values to renew the emblem London. Since the Gunners will not want to see the player leave the club in the summer of 2013 without any financial compensation, may not have another option other than selling van Persie to the highest bidder. And the truth is that he lacks interest, Juventus, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the names most vocal. The termination clause of the Dutch in amounts to 60 million

  52. alanbstardmp says:

may as well let him go. Sell him

Sadly AW is to stupid to get Ba or local quality as a replacement

  53. nobert says:

The talks are going to affect RVP big time at Euros. He knows if he gets injured,he is in trouble. He also has to play to convince his prefered suitors.me thinks considering his injury rec0rd, he made a big mistake going to Euros without signing. Our club must get us a younger and equally prolific player for the money

  54. The font says:

Alan why do say aw is stupid do you not like ox arteta or yossi or from the season before wilshere chez kos verm sagna or from mthe seasons before that Henry Freddie pires toure sol Gilberto Viera clichy Reyes wiltord fabregas kanu van bronkhurst flamini van persi petit overmars Lauren hleb adebayor gallas rosicky song nasri theo anelka and from the future gnarby afobe ryo coqelin frimpong and two many more to mention P.S do not forget poldy

  55. The font says:

In 50 years time a team built by the genius arsen wenger will still be talked about for going 49 games unbeaten many teams will try and emulate this but none will succeed

  56. allezkev says:

2 hours of weeding is enough for one day, 🙁

Dein joining the Scousers is a fair indication that he can’t see a way back into AFC in the near future.
I’m sure if the opportunity arose, that he’d jack in the bindippers and come home…

  57. allezkev says:

I wouldn’t want Suarez tbh, good playa, too much baggage, Stevie G, best dayz behind him, not sure that Agger is that good. Someone told me that agger means shit in Bangladeshi…
Not sure that there’s any Liverpool players that i would like….

  58. allezkev says:

    Sorry i missed ya Coach…

I’m good. You too i trust.
It’s a beautifull day in South Kent, how’s things in the Med….?

  59. allezkev says:

    Good points Coach.
As far as getting injured in the Euros, tbh i’d be sick if that happened and he was on £130k+ £5m signing on fee. You might have a bit of an insight into how IG/AW are thinking….

  60. allezkev says:

JM, he still has a living to make. Even millionaires have bills to pay…
As you would know, being a millionaire yourself… 😉

  61. Micko says:

    Afternoon all,
Hope your plums aren’t wilting Kev.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a decent scottish goal-keeper, we should steer well clear.

  62. allezkev says:

    JM, 2.22;
    Great points.
    Would be typical.
RVP signs a massive deal and spends most of next season injured…

  63. allezkev says:

    JM, 2.40;
I think amigo, that you have to treat those newspaper speculators with a loory-load of salt.
They know nothing. And are habitual liars.
So if i was you, i’d ignore anything they write, unless RVP is quoted.

  64. allezkev says:

    font, 3.53;
    I don’t think it’ll take 50 years.
10 years after AW has gone, that’s when the laments will start. And others will realise the error of their ways…

  65. Joaquim Moreira says:

with so many London teams next season, League title not will be for any London’s team… it’s the history and the statistic

  66. Joaquim Moreira says:

Only the conquest of Euro’2012 with the German team will meet Lucas Podolski.
“In recent years we could say that the semi-finals would be a success, but this year we can say before the final stage we are ready to fight for the title,” said the German advance, in an interview with German newspaper “Kolner Stadt Anzeiger”.
Podolski, who left Cologne to join Arsenal next season, also pointed out that this season was dececionante and expects a victory in Europe to overcome the bad times.
“If we say we will fight for the title, then we will have an extra boost in the end,” concluded the 26 years.

  67. dirtyturkey says:

Craig Gordon WILL be the new reserve GK for 2 seasons while Martinez gets experience. Just released from Sunderland and we tried to but him a couple of seasons ago.

  68. rico says:

You guys seen we are hot favorites to sign the next best sratlet to come out of england…..

    He is 13 years old!!!!

  69. rico says:

JM – He is the latest player we are linked to, and we could eb signing him this week, what a joke, 13 years old, we need players twice his age 😉

Evening Steve – pleased for Lansbury, but thats as far as it goes 😉

  70. rico says:

Skysports.com understands Arsenal are leading the chase for Birmingham City starlet Foday Nabay and hope to conclude a deal next week.

The teenager is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the country having been called up by England Under-16s last summer as a 12-year-old.

Nabay, who is being labelled as the next Yaya Toure, is believed to have activated a clause in his contract that allows him to leave St Andrews with prospective clubs only needing to pay Blues for training compensation.
    Competition

The Sierra Leone-born youngster has spent six seasons with the Midlands club, but could now be on the verge of a move to one of England’s elite with fierce competition for his signature.

Arsenal are the favourites to land Nabay and it is obvious why the teenager would be interested in a move to the Gunners, who have helped the likes of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to develop to win places in England’s 23-man squad for this summer’s European Championship.

The north Londoners are understood to have seen a bid rejected by Birmingham last month, however, Arsenal are set to make a fresh move next week with a view to thrashing out terms.

  71. rico says:

Guys – I had this emailed to me:

I really enjoy reading your blog. But I want to address one thing. My name is Siggi (Sigurdur) and I live in Iceland. My best friend is Andri Sigþórsson, the big brother og Kolbeinn Sigþórsson player number 9 at Ajax.

Kolbeinn is a really big Arsenal-fan, but still he turned down offer from Arsenal when he left to AZ Alkmaar few years back, As I am an Arsenal fan, and Kolbeinn and I talk to him allot I have talked about Vertonghen and Eriksen.

Arsenal have never contacted Ajax about Vertonghen, and shown little as no interest. Bergkamp got one scout to come and see two practices and one game but they did not think Vertonghen is batter than what we have. Spurs however have been monitoring him that last whole season AND Vertonghen is a REALLY BIG Spurs fan and all he talks about is Tottenham. So according to Kolbeinn he will always choose Spurs over any other club.

  72. stevepalmer1 says:

The two best teams in Europe, but i’m sure there’s a repeat of something else on

  73. The font says:

rico its not a joke to plan for the future and because every prem team seems to want his signature another brilliant bit of bussiness look at my 3:46 if you think wenger does not know what he is doing I understand where your coming from if it was the only signing but come on let’s get positive we finished 3 rd behind the the richest football club in the world 1st and the biggest football club in the world 2 nd.

  74. rico says:

Sorry the font, what we need right now is players for right now, wenger maybe planning for the future but all too often he neglects the present. yes, the TW has a long way to go but i don’t feel confident that we will see major signings made yet again….

  75. stevepalmer1 says:

what we need Font, is the 3rd richest owner in the world and for him to want to spend it all here 🙂

  76. stevepalmer1 says:

What Wenger is adapt at is buying wingers and turning them in to strikers shame he couldn’t do it to bentner and make him a keeper

  77. Joaquim Moreira says:

ok, rico about the “new” (?) teenager.
    Did D. Dein join Liverpool?
deep changes and moves in Liverpool

  78. rico says:

Chavs it is then Steve 🙂

Rumour is DD has been helping Liverpool JM, we really don’t want him doing that….

  79. The font says:

Sorry lads I can not accept to buy tin pots is better than making them we have class style dignity and what we achieve is hard fought if roman ever walked away I am not sure where Chelsea would end up if you buy the Philosophy why not go and buy yourself a referee a wife a baby where does it end the major powers Havel to sort this out less football as we know it is finished

  80. The font says:

Longer view I would rather have spuds with all there players leaving than Chelsea who will strengthen in champs league next year

  81. The font says:

I will leave you with this thought the most intelligent spurs fan sitting at the bar with a empty glass bar tender says would you like another spurs fan says what the fuck would I do with two empty glasses

  82. rico says:

The Font – it is about the right mix, and that mix hasn’t been right for a while imho….

  83. stevepalmer1 says:

One thing you need to understand Font, We have a 60,000 seater stadium who paid for it we have a team worth perhaps60million who brought those. The supporters are paying for it, doesn’t matter where the money comes from, you still need it to win things

  84. rico says:

    Exactly Steve…

JM – with their money and investment by Roman, that was always on the cards, we missed our chance in 2006 and even maybe last season when Nik should have scored the goal to knock out Barca….

  85. allezkev says:

    Don’t know what to think…

Chav win and Scum in Europa.

    Or/

Bayern win, sick Chavs but unbearable Scummers!

    Think i’ll watch Dad’s Army….

  86. allezkev says:

As for the 13 year old, not sure that Wenger has too much to do with the recruitment of the Academy…

    Surely that’s Liam Brady’s remit…?!

  87. allezkev says:

I think the media make a big deal of Arsenal’s youth recruitment, as they know that that will wind up many of us…
Doesn’t bother me as it’s not connected to Wenger and Gazides’ job…
If IG/AW muck up signings for the senior squad, it won’t be because the Academy signed a 13 year old…

Drogba “grabbed” the game by the neck at the right time. It was the player of the game.

JM true 🙁 I also worry Chelski will try to contract M’villa now. We will know tomorrow or the next week when he decides.

  90. agirlagunner says:

Dutch, sleepy. 😉 Apprehensive about our potential purchases now that the Old Age Pensioners are in the mix again. 🙁

  91. Joaquim Moreira says:

    apprehensive? Of course.
Chelsea now is able to change the team and it’s going to refresh it.
So, our targets will be the same with two big differences: a) they more money to spend b) they are a winning team.

  92. DutchGooner10 says:

Me too sleepy and apprehensive. 😉 You’re always sane, pleasant and charming. Sleep tight butterfly. Leave the sale/ buy now buttons alone. Anxiety before sleep will make a nocturnal creator till the early morning. 🙂

JM Buenos Noches Amigo. Catch tomorrow.

pity for tottenham. Squad will likely decimate. Wonder how modric is feeling right now. Rico that email you got echoes my thoughts about the vert rumour. Same pile of crap with those van persie rumours. But i believe the mvilla rumours

  94. agirlagunner says:

Good night, Dutch. 🙂 Flattery will get you everywhere 😀 You too, JM. Sleep tight. Don’t dream of M’villa. We’re not getting him. Already warm and sunny here. 😉

Stevepalmer I never said I did not want to win things I said I did not want to buy them in the manor man city Chelsea have it is a fact in life that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer but sport was invented on a level playing field I do not mind teams having more money than us that’s life but I do object super powers buying 3 world class players for each position and then loan them to our rivals under the provisos that there not allowed to play against there mother club if city buy lets say Rvp bale hazard and if they want to they can do you think we are going to win the league next year no infact if we go on this theory no one will ever win anything again apart from man city who have the richest owners in the sport it is not out of control yet it needs to be nipped in the bud before football becomes a farce like horse racing I enjoy football because it is competitive if you want a super league of city Chelsea psg anzi and say A.U arsenal then what you guys are suggesting will be fine but for me I love football being open and competitive

  96. allezkev says:

Now whilst some knobheads in the Press/Media, would have you believe, that football in this country didn’t exist before the Premier League.
    Actually it did….
And if you go back to those pre-EPL days, you will find, that the most successfull clubs, in most cases, were those clubs that spent the most…

Spending/Investing on your team, is not a new thing.
Arsenal did this successfully in the 1930’s, and suprise suprise, won 5 titles in 7 years…

  97. alanbstardmp says:

Allezkev, those were the days when owners were satisfied with less revenue and were not as weralthy due to football. Now we have billionaires using it as a racket and billionaires like the rest of us will pay what the market will bear. The poor bugger in the suburbs ends up paying for it at the gate or on the computer buying a season ticket

  98. The font says:

You guys have got to get your facts straight yes titles we’re won in them days by clubs spending money that came through the revenues but do me a favour Chelsea have not won anything with there supporters money neither has city this is my point I want arsenal to win through its own revenues you guys go on about the money arsenal football club make for the directors The last time I looked at there accounts kroenke £1.3 m Ivan.gazidis £936 k Peter hill wood £78k ken. Friar£78 k sir chips Keswick £26 k lord Harris £26 k these figures are chicken feed compared to other companies of this size managers at McDonald’s earn more than some of these you do not like what they pay the manager £7,020,000 well unfortunatey that’s tough because that’s the market value of someone who consistently over performs with restricted funds if it was not for Danny fizman fantastic vision and astute business sense we would still be a club the same size as west ham because of arsen wenger world wide profile we go from strength to strength in attracting young talent that some go on to be super stars helping to make arsenal profits the talk about the millions the club make well most of arsenals money has come through property deals which we no longer have so the board has to be economical and not take a carte blanch approach to wages and signings THE WAY. OUR CLUB IS RUN IS SOMTHING TO BE PROUD OF. And when you talk about taken the fans money that’s what we’re there for how many times have I heard people say why don’t we pay the money for superstars why don’t we give him the wages he wants as fans it’s our jobs to put revenues into the club to fund this indulgence

  99. stevepalmer1 says:

The Font, I apreciate your loyalty to the Arsenal way, I understand where your coming from, and dont think that i am condecending your beliefs because i’m not, but you have to understand that buying cheap players will not bring success to Arsenal. yes its comendable that Arsene has brought Champions league football for 15 years and you are probably right when you state that he is over acheiving, but ask yourself one question are you happy with that, or have you got aspirations of actually winning the Premier league or Champions league or even the FA cup lets face it mate with the players we have we can’t even beat Birmingham in the final of last years Carling cup that is the stark reality mate, had we brought 2 defenders in the christmas transfer window 20 million perhaps the season could have turned out successful instead we won zilch. You may be happy doing it the right way and maybe your right, but we have gone 7 years of doing it right and were still potless.
