Injury Strikes! Matija Nastasic & Lars Bender In January? Ozil Picks Up Award……

Morning all.

It’s Saturday, it’s the boring international break and there’s very little Arsenal stuff doing the rounds.

The Express report that Arsene Wenger will try again in January to sign Lars Bender and Goal.com report that Arsenal have been told they can sign Matija Nastasic for a cut price of £5 million during the next transfer window. Tottenham have been offered the player too apparently.

There is some injury news which in a way affects us, David De Gea has dislocated a finger on international duty and could be out for at least a month which means he won’t be between the sticks next Saturday evening at The Emirates. Stop laughing right now!

International catch up:

Alexis Sanchez played 85 mins last night and scored one as Chile beat Venezuela 5-0. He’ll have another game on Wednesday.

Lukas Podolski played the full 90 minutes as Germany beat  Gibraltar 4-0. He didn’t score but did set up one of the goals, albeit for a Gibralter player to score in his own net. Germany face Spain on Wednesday and could face his team-mate Santi Cazorla.

Wojciech Szczesny did something he rarely does as Arsenal and that’s keep a clean sheet. Poland beat Georgia 4-0 last night and play again on Tuesday.

Joel Campbell, despite not being in Arsene Wenger’s plans, played 86 minutes for Costa Rico. That game ended up all square at 3-3 with our man setting up one of the goals. He’d been replaced by the time his side won on penalties. It was a friendly so why there were penalties I don’t know.

Yaya Sanogo played and captained the France Under-21s in their 1-1 against Italy. No, he didn’t score! His side have another fixture on Monday.

England play today and on duty from Arsenal is Calum Chambers, Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere. Gibbs is set to start as Leighton Baines is injured. Tonights match is a Euro qualifier against Slovenia which is followed by a friendly against Scotland on Tuesday.

Aaron Ramsey also has a game this weekend as Wales face Belgium tomorrow. I bet he has a good game for his country.

Santi Cazorla is in the Spanish squad for today’s fixture against Belarus and then as said earlier, it’s Germany on Tuesday in a friendly.

Last up is Tomas Rosicky, he’s in the Czech Republic squad for their friendly against Iceland which takes place tomorrow. Good enough for his country, not deemed good enough for his club!

Mesut Ozil may not be playing football, instead he’s been picking up an award in his home country. Having helped Germany win the world cup, he decided to spend his bonus money on operations for 23 seriously ill Brazilian children.

On Wednesday night received a Laureus Sport for Good award and was thrilled:

We had the idea to help 23 children, because we had 23 players in the [Germany World Cup] squad.

And they underwent surgery, which was successful. I am very thankful. The doctors did a great job. I am very happy because it goes well for the children.

This award will get a very special place at my home.

Make the most of it Mesut, you never know when the next one will come along…

Have a good Saturday folks….

    Morning Rico, enjoyed that post…
Wonder if all six Arsenal players will get on the pitch at the same time…?
Has to be some kind of Post-War Arsenal record, six players in the squad…

    Morning All,
    Good read that,potter,
In a way I feel the same way as harold he seems to have covered most of it anyway.

    Transfers again,
drinking with a chav last night, and he is telling me who we need to sign,
ended up………………… me shouting the history story at him.
No way he was winning a debate with me,even if he was right.

We are history as far as the big trophys go ..ain’t we now.

    Good Afternoon Rumpels and Stiltskins.

What Paul Merson should have told AW, in response to his arrogant comments that he never managed a club, is that while AW has never been successful in Europe, Paul Merson had won a cup in Europe…..the Cup Winners Cup.

He should have rubbed his nose in it.

I am not a member but I am sympathetic to a number of their aims . I thought the article was fair and summed up the split feelings of many old time supporters . I made a comment on the site.

England getting stick from the commentators on BBC5Live…

    No suprise there then.

International football is just simply rubbish…

  9. rico says:

Ha ha, hope he didn’t, he might have two pairs…

Shame Theo didn’t get five mins, not sure playing him against Scotland would be wise but we need him to get game time before playing the Mancs…

  10. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Rooney got 44 goals now.

But Welbs is on 13……and he is still 23. Are we going to see an AFC player breaking the international goals for England which WR may set up????

    I hope so.

No Theo today…..but I feel that Chambers, OX and Theo will get run outs against the Scotties.

Today I just wondered……what if AW had gone for Cahill when he was available? imagine for a minute. Our defence would have been more English.

  11. BT62 Gooner says:

Dev, did AW not try for Cahill with an insulting offer?
So bad was it that the Bolton chairman through a wobbly…..

  12. Hell Raising Devil says:

That is his method BT. He goes in with an insulting offer so that he could tell supporters….I tried but……!!!!!!!

Had Cahill been snapped up by Arsene we would have had half the England team at one time with the possibility of adding Theo and Chambers. That would make it 7.

And had AW gone for Rodwell I can assure you he would have been manning the DM position for England by now.

Because Rodwell is a good player. He just needs regular football.

  13. BT62 Gooner says:

Dev, that’s AW. M.O., not really worried how many play for England/or English, as long as we have the very best going and the very best coaching.

As for Rodwell, he most be very frustrated with the way his career has stalled.could well have done a job in DM position.

  14. Micko says:

Around 2 million on Barnet Lane, only a 20 minute drive to the London Colney, suits Ozil, he’ll probably be looking for a quick sale in the summer if you can hang on Dev, might even throw in his porsche !

Buy me a flat in London and a Porsche and Sean can come over 🙂
A team from his school played a rep side from one of the best junior programs in Oz this morning.
His side were thrown together including several boys he’s never played a game with, and up against a group of hand picked boys two years older.
Down 3-0 after 5 minutes, they ended up losing 4-2.
The big difference was the other group play particular positions and were very physical, where our boys rotate positions regularly and are not taught to pull, push and lead with the arms, but handle it really well.
