Morning all.

As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours…

First it was Mikel Merino to suffer a nasty injury during training, then came the news that Riccardo Calafiori had been injured whilst on international duty, bad enough for him to return to Arsenal and then yesterday, Martin Odegaard limped out of Norway’s Nations League game with Austria after suffering an an ankle injury. It must have been bad as he needed assistance to walk off the pitch.

It looked bad in the dressing room, too,” Norway coach Stale Solbakken told broadcaster TV2. He didn’t have the chance to continue.

Solbakken had already told the media that our captain had picked up another knock so why on earth was he even considered for last nights game? Of course, he only cares about Norway and not Arsenal.

We’re going into a hectic period with a game pretty much every three days and it’s not looking good. We’ll find out more once Mikel Arteta has held his pre NLD press conference.

September 15: Tottenham (A), Premier League, kick-off 2pm
September 19: Atalanta (A), Champions League, kick-off 8pm
September 22: Man City (A), Premier League, kick-off 4.30pm
September 25: Bolton (H), Carabao Cup third round, kick-off 7.45pm
September 28: Leicester (H), Premier League, kick-off 3pm
October 1: Paris Saint-Germain (H), Champions League, kick-off 8pm
October 5: Southampton (H), Premier League, kick-off 3pm

If Odegaard is ruled out of Sunday’s fixture, perhaps Oleksandr Zinchenko will step into his position as I can’t see Mikel Arteta throwing Ethan Nwaneri in at the deep end. He’d be absolutely fine I’m sure but it’s a lot to ask of a 17 year old. Might Bukayo Saka switch positions with Raheem Sterling playing on the right or will it be Kai Havertz? I’ve no idea of course but options are limited.

It looks like Thomas Partey will have plenty of options when his contract expires next summer as reports suggest Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Saudi clubs and Juventus are after him but it’s the latter who are winning the race according to Caughtoffside.

For now though he’s happy at Arsenal and the most important thing for all is that he stays fit. Ghana played their final fixture of this break last night with our midfielder playing the entire game. France played their last fixture too, a 2-0 victory over Belgium with William Saliba playing the full match too so at least they will both return in good shape.

Tonight, England, Germany and Ukraine play so it’ll be fingers and toes crossed that all four of our players either be rested or return to Arsenal unscathed because we really don’t need any more players injured.
