Morning all.
I don’t know about anyone else but I’m sick of the Alexis Sanchez saga. Arsene Wenger must be too as in every interview he’s asked the same question and each time he gives the same answer. He’s staying at Arsenal! So Man City, PSG, Chelsea, or any other club who thinks they can sign him, might as well keep their money in the pocket. The media like to stir the pot with this story by suggesting the little Chilean will submit a transfer request on his return in order to force through a move to Man City, well how do they know that? I doubt they do but they don’t care as long as they can continue to write utter garbage about our club. It’s what they do, it’s what they enjoy doing.
Alexis won’t be back today though as apparently he’s got man flu and needs a few days to recover. Perhaps he just wants to spend a few more days with his new lady.
We didn’t need him yesterday to give Benfica a thumping though and there were a number of positives to take from the game. I though the tempo, certainly in the first half was good. Walcott and Ollie worked well together, Our new left back had his best game yet and young Reiss Nelson played like a guy much older in years and experience. I really hope he doesn’t go out on loan. He’d be better off staying, training with the first team and playing. Obviously not in every game but used wisely throughout the season ahead as we’ve got a long fixture list, especially if we go far in the Europa league. How old was Mbappe when he first hit the headlines for all the right reasons? Well why can’t Nelson who’ll turn eighteen in December?
A few of other younger players involved in pre-season could very well find themselves getting a chance this season too so that’s something to look forward to, well it is for me.

I agree with Kolasinac, going forward, I thought we looked pretty good but once again, when it came to the defensive side of our game, there’s a lot to work on. The goals we conceded were sloppy, something which needs improving and for me, we still lack having a rock in midfield. Someone to do the kind of things a player like Kante or Keita does although how the latter is valued around the £70 million mark is something which baffles me. Certainly after watching him yesterday but I know, it’s pre-season.
Anyway, four goals with the pick of the bunch being Ollie’s although Iwobi scored a cracker too, he certainly meant that one. As Wenger made the changes during the second half, we lost a bit of rhythm, but all in all, another good work out for the team.
But as Arsene Wenger appears to be chasing Thomas Lemar, he’d do just as well to turn his attention to a strong midfielder too.
Sevilla up later today in what is our last friendly. The Spanish side beat RB Leipzig yesterday 1-0 so they could very well be a tougher opposition and it’s expected Arsene Wenger will ring the changes for this game.
Enjoy the game guys and gals, we could be lifting our first trophy of the season by the end of it….

If I was Arsene I will offer Sanchez to PSG and get £50m for him, I don’t want a repeat of 2012 summer, since Rvp left us high and dry I stopped having a favorite Arsenal player, I liked Alexis delivering the goals I never liked his person, you can’t keep complaining every minute, even the G.O.A.T messi never does that ( yes that’s a dig to that Whinger Ronaldo) I say if Alexis wants to go let him go, for me it’s all about the Arsenal and I can care less who goes so far Arsene gets the best out of those who wants to stay then I will always support my dear Arsenal……..off to read the new post

Arsene has said he is going nowhere !………………………..now if you are of the belief that this is a ploy to make some club have to pay top dollar to get Arsene to change his mind then fair enough !………………………..if however you believe Arsene is telling the truth and more importantly other managers think Arsene is adamant and not going to sell Alexis, then they (other managares) will not make an offer and if they want Alexis wait `till his contract is up and get him next season and in that case which I believe, then he will be our player for the entire season in which we can win the league with him, but not without him !…………………………….so is having a chance of winning the league more important with him, than not winning it without him but gaining £50M ?………………………………………………………yes !……………winning the league is more important than the money !…………………………………..what you say Kroenke ? 🙂

If keeping Sanchez this year means winning the EPL, then how come we haven’t won it with him? He was there last season and we didn’t even qualify for the CL.

No player wanting out could possibly give their very best, imo.
Not even Alexis, though in all honesty, if anyone could it’d be him.
As for Stan, well, again, I never, ever have blamed him for what happens on the pitch, but the mere mention of his name obviously has some people frazzled to the point that the truth of what I actually wrote just flies out the window lol

It’s all about finishing top four, Tottenham and Liverpool will drop out again next Spring, the title will be between the Chavs and the two Mancs, Wenger will target 4th and Kroenke will be satisfied with that.
I enjoyed the Benfica game but it didn’t prove anything.
Sevilla was a better contest and Arsenal looked average.
Arsenal are a cup team, building a team to win the EPL and/or CL is beyond us as Wenger is an economist and Kroenke has no interest other than the value of his investment.

It`s a meaningless competition and I`d rather look at the good and bad points of these warm up matches rather than how much elbow grease Wenger is putting into cleaning our new shiny silverware !………………………………..if you really want to moan, moan about how ridiculous our Rugby is where the winners after so many games can lose the title to someone else in a top something play off competition, now that`s fcuking ridiculous !………………..imagine that applied to the EPL………………….Arsene may have got more titles even after finishing 4th !………………………actually, that sounds good !…….we`re never going to win it by being top, so a play win win featuring the top 4 would be like a cup competition and we`re quite good at that ! hahaha

Well, it was an underwhelming tournament, but it was only a friendly, and it shows we have a long way to go yet before we are EPL winning material. Still, it gave le prof chance to assess any potentials, and now he can dive into the transfer market and seal a few deals.
Virgil and Lemar for sure, I’d like Matic, but he has a long lasting love affair with Napoleon.
I see Barca are showing interest in Ozil! Quelle surprise!
I know I am very cynical, but it seems Ox can play when he wants to impress (but who is he out to impress though?). We all know he is injury prone, so wherever he ends up, they/we will never get a full season out of him IMO.
I hope there is a management get together today to discuss performances, and that Jens has a say. Please or offend, he will take no prisoners.
Some of the big clubs showing interest in our players seem very reluctant to put any money where their mouths are. No firm offers as yet, It’s not just Wenger who leaves things to the last minute.
If we don’t strengthen though, I can see us struggling, and West Ham, Everton, Liverpool, and Totts, will be our rivals, not the big three. C’est la vie.

Unusual for me, Rico, I watched both games and imo only Ox and Nelson really really shone, but the games were only friendlies, all about getting players back to fitness………..and looking at a few young uns !.

Surely though, any transfer ideas he had/has would be being worked on already, rather than a reaction to a defeat/loss etc…

For the last 7/8 years, Wenger hasn’t done a lot really Scott…. A few FA Cups were nice but as far as winning the league goes, he’s failed spectacularly…

Hi Scott, everything is fine my end, I had a nice weekend by the sea, it cleared all the London smog out of my lungs.
Wenger could be right about contracts, but I doubt that any of the really big clubs would allow their top players to reach the last year of their contracts as Arsenal and Wenger so often do.
Personally I think Wenger is trying to deflect attention away from the fact that he completely failed to sort this impending problem back in the summer of 2016, that’s when contracts should have been sorted or players moved on, but he avoided the difficult decisions as he always does.
What about our players currently entering their last two years this summer, is he sorting it or sitting on his hands?
So in 12 months time we’ll have the same charade, it’s a fcuking joke.

Same S**t different day it seems. Rumours persist, contracts remain unresolved, the media continue to write their drivel and Arsenal win a cup where we effectively lost the “final” of the two winning teams from game 1!
I for one cannot believe the club lets the contracts run down so much so often, its baffling! I also believe like many others we are 2 short (3 if Sanchez goes). My ideal signings would be Seri, VVD and Lemar (more so if Alexis leaves)

Well, we don’t really know what goes on behind closed doors re contract extensions. I can only guess that Agents start the ball rolling in good time. Who say’s what to whom, is a mystery really.
Regarding OX, I can honestly say, I have never rated him, but will always admit that he has had a good game, or part of a game, if that is the case.
Clearly he is wanted by some top clubs, so they obviously see something I don’t, if the press are correct, but tbh, I don’t think he has a footballing brain, and I don’t believe he thinks ahead, but his speed and strength help him.
He won’t imho, have a long career, coz once his legs go, he is left with nothing to offer. But it’s the here and now, not the future we are interested in, so, it doesn’t bother me if he leaves or goes. If he can stay injury-free, he has something to offer the team. His Dad’s a pain in the butt though.
What is it with these fathers? Paul Ince, Steve Bruce, Chamberlain, all think their son is special. I’m sure they are, to them, same as any parent, but please.
The one glimmer on the horizon, is that we do seem to have a couple of good contenders coming through the ranks now. If Mbappe can do it at age 18, why can’t Nelson?

Scott, for the record, if you check back thru the past HH posts you will see gg9 commented on here b4 you stumbled upon the site. I was always a le Grove poster from way back & every now & then posted on here because rico1 used to post on le Grove as well. Like Raddy,etc on AA.
Anyway, even though The Arsenal may be a French team for now, this is an English site, & The Arsenal is an English club & 99% of the contributors on here have been Arsenal all their lives, so maybe you should show a bit more respect to them.

Still no news on the Lemar signing, apart from Kloppy being interested now. That should push the price up a bit. Is it Le Prof hesitating though, or is it Monaco stalling? Who knows. I personally don’t think it’s us though.
It looks as though VVD is going to Liverpool. Although there are so many rumours going around, it’s hard to know the truth.

As I’ve said before, I’m more concerned with our defensive weaknesses than our attack. If we don’t get that sorted we are in for a rocky ride.
I see Costa still hasn’t got a club offering anything to Chelsea for him. Attack is the best form of defence, so why not go for him too? He might like living in London;-)
Backroom staff now seem a stronger unit, with Pires, Bould,and Jens, so that’s a positive.
