Morning all.

The world of football was shocked yesterday by the passing of Alfredo di Stefano. Here he is with his 5 European Trophies.

R.I.P

R.I.P

Still a few mixed reports surrounding the future of Alexis Sanchez. Yesterday afternoon the Liverpool Echo printed an article which said his agent had told Liverpool FC that not only he didn’t want join them but it was likely his future would be in London with us. However, the Express suggest that the player favours a move back to Italy, where he was prior to moving to Spain.

Just have to hope that story holds no truth.

Barca apparently want him sold asap so they can fund the Suarez move and this week is their aim.

If he is coming our way, my view is the same as Wath’s, he’ll be in before or very soon after the Puma launch on Thursday. After all, what better way for Puma to show off our new shiny kit eh….

Looking Good....

Looking Good….

It’s looking highly likely that Mathieu Debuchy will be one of the first in the door as yesterday it was reported that he’d undergone his medical although other reports suggest that is a Β bit previous but a medical for him expected in the next day or two.

Talking of which, here is a post from Kev:

The imminent signing of Mathieu Debuchy would be a very welcome change from Arsenal’s transfer policy of recent years, namely Last Minute.com…

It’s still early days but there are positive noises coming from Arsenal suggesting we’ve got one or two more new signings coming our way…

So, as it stands, Wenger has replaced the excellent Bacary Sagna with the player who replaced him in the French National team.

Lukasz Fabianski, who has joined Swansea, (good luck to him) is yet to be replaced.

Thomas Vermaelen is still an Arsenal player, and I sincerely hope that he remains one and despite rumours suggesting that Arteta, Podolski and Cazorla could be leaving, they’re also still all at Arsenal, and hear hear to that.

We are into the 2nd week in July, the transfer window is wide open and clubs are coming to terms with balancing domestic and foreign players in their 25 man squads as required by FIFA regulations.

The World Cup is almost finished, so where do all the major protagonists stand in relation to each other for the 2014-15 EPL season?

Chelsea have been the biggest spenders so far, with Β£32m spent on Diego Costa and Β£30m on Cesc Fabregas.Β Mourinho has re-couped Β£40m from PSG on the wild David Luiz, which is good business imo.

Ashley Cole is off the payroll and has joined Roma on a free and Wallace has joined Vitesse Arnhem on loan.Β Surprisingly there is no mention of Grommet…!

Louis Van Gaal has wasted no time in spending Β£27/31m on Luke Shaw and Β£29m on Ander Herrera.Β Alex Buttner has left for Β£4.4m, but I suspect that 3 or 4 Dutch based players could be in place at Old Bog before the season starts.

Liverpool were quickest out of the blocks in preparation for their biggest season in years, CL and all.Β In has come Β£4m Rickie Lambert, Β£25m Adam Lallana and Β£10 Emre Can. More arrivals can be expected.

Man City have been almost as circumspect as Arsenal, with only Β£12m spent on Fernando, along with Sagna.Β Pantilimon and Lescott have both left for free.Β I really cannot see this low key approach to the season, lasting much longer. Man City are nothing, if not cavalier going on reckless with their spending, so expect a City ‘blow-out’ any time soon?!

There are a few deals going through negotiations as I write this, Suarez, Sanchez etc, plus a few other earmarked for completion as soon as the World Cup final is over, so hold onto your hats! Stan, you hold onto your pants!!

A few ex-Gunners on the move:

Philipe Senderos, Aston Villa, free
Steve Sidwell, Stoke City, free
Alban Bunjaku, Derby County, free
Conor Henderson, Crawley, free
Luke Freeman, Bristol City, free
Stuart Taylor, Leeds United, free
James Shea, AFC Wimbledon, free.

Pff! No sell on fee from any of those…. lol

Finally, good luck to our German trio for tonight. 9pm they battle it out with Brazil for a place in the final of the World Cup.

No doubt all Gooners eyes will be on this match and our three players……..
