Morning all.
How tedious it is for a club such as Liverpool to feel the need to insert Arsenal into one of their players contracts. Firmino, with his nice polar white teeth and dodgy haircut, has just that. You can hear a Henry now can’t you, in his smooth American accent which has a teeny weeny of Scouse in it somewhere, saying ‘there might be plenty of things nicked up here, but those there Londoners are not having my player. God bless America’. Or something like that… They didn’t let us sign Suarez, they won’t be letting us sign Firmino either…
But who would want him? Probably not Arsene Wenger for £80 odd million…..
20 year old Brazilian striker Gabriel Barbosa could be on the move though. Having only moved to Inter Milan last summer, he’s already sulking over lack of playing time. Arsenal are ready to save him from his troubles, after all, he is the next Neymar, and we need one of those apparently…..
Anyway, enough of all that. What a night for Arsenal and what a performance too. Over in France, it’s was widely expected that PSG would only have to turn up to secure maximum points so when they went 1-0 down, it was game on. By the time Ludogorets had taken the lead, Arsenal were already 2-0 up. Ozil, Sanchez and Gibbs were all involved in the build up to the first goal before the Englishman played a lovely ball into the box for Perez to grab his first of the night. The same quartet plus Ramsey had a say in our second too, but it was the German’s ball to Gibbs which was sublime. Gibbs tried his luck on goal, the keeper could only parry the ball and there was Perez to tuck home his second.
Basel had one or two opportunities of their own, but nothing was going to spoil what was a good first half. Although the offside flag did spare us just the once…
Into the second half and we didn’t have to wait long for a third. Gibbs intercepted the ball near the halfway line, played it a bit too heavy to Sanchez but it was clearly our night as the ball fell into the path of Perez. He made no mistake with his shot which secured his first hat-trick in an Arsenal shirt. Super stuff from the away team..
Over in France, PSG were still losing 1-0 by the time we grabbed a forth. This time it was Iwobi who finished off a lovely passage of play. Alexis played the ball into the path of Ozil, who so unselfishly set up the youngster with a tap-in for his first ever goal in Europe. Just after the hour mark, Sanchez was on the ground clutching his ankle after a strong challenge from Balanta which prompted to warm up his subs. The Chilean fired a free-kick into the woodwork before leaving the pitch grinning like a Cheshire cat. He’d had a good night, as had Mesut Ozil who soon followed his mate off the pitch. Ramsey too was subbed and on in their places came Walcott, Elneny and Giroud…
Basel did pull one back but by then, it didn’t really matter.
PSG then equalised, then they were behind again before drawing the scores level just before the final whistle blew. They hadn’t done enough to secure top spot, but Arsenal had and it was no more than we deserved. In this kind of form, Arsenal might just get past the first knockout stage of the Champions League for the first in a very long time.
So who could we now face:
Bayern Munich.
One of Borussia Dortmund or Real Madrid.
Benfica.
Bayer Leverkusen.
One of Porto or FC Copenhagen.
One of Juventus, Seville or Lyon.
If we can avoid the top three, who knows eh and we did it all without losing a game in the group. What happened when we last did that then?

A few weeks from now we ll have dat guy welbz back to compete with Sanchez giroud and scoring sensation and my favourite lucas perez. Wow is that strength in depth or what? We look good guys. I like Payet and know that we were interested last season. As for Santi? He’s been with us for a while so it’s a different situation. Plus the improvements in sports science apparently reduce things by a couple of years, if the player has a good metabolism and is good at recovering from injury.

We`re all different !…………..there are some athletes who got better in their 30`s than they were in their 20`s…………………….Mo Farah won all his best titles from 29 to now (33)……………………Linford Christie run his fastest time in his 30`s.
With the sports science, dieting, rest and training…….mid thirties should be no problem for certain people………….then there`s Arshavin ! 🙂
Some are naturals…………..a few years ago I read something about Jaap Stam……that he was so fit and without the proper training he was holding his own against and beating some pro 400/800m runners !
Then there`s the brains of some of the players to use their intelligence to overcome their physical short comings, so I suppose what I`m trying to say is that every case(player) should be judged on their own merits, no two 30 year olds are the same !.
I know it’s early days Adam, but he could be really good for us, especially when Giroud goes on holiday from Jan-April 2017… 😉

Rico I think some of the football played by all our sides (First team and academy sides ) has been outstanding and the goals are now starting to flow. Its great to see the likes of Gabby Gibbs Lucas getting playing time and playing well.
With Danny and Chuba nearing fitness Arsene will have one of his strongest sides for a very long Time.
Its not only the first team some of the youngsters have moved up a gear.
Remember me telling you about one of them 2 years ago . His name is Reiss Nelson and he is 17 on Sat . I expect the club to give him a good birthday and axmas present with his first Professional contract.
Watching the Spuds tonight and hoping the Thursday night team win.
