Morning all,

Highly-rated Nigerian defender Godfrey Oboabona is set to join the club on trial, and he’s all set to do what it takes to make this timeΒ count.

The centre-back impressed for his country during the African Cup of Nations and has attracted interest from clubs around Europe, but has said that Arsenal are his boyhood club and would therefore be his first choice.

The 22-year-old toldΒ who currently plays forΒ Sunshine Stars, as aΒ defender professes to be a long time supporter of Arsenal:

Arsenal are my favourite club from childhood. It is the club I want to play for.

Ah, one of those eh, but, he’s a wanted man:

I already have offers from the top five leagues in the world. But like you know the transfer window had closed by the time the Nations Cup ended.

If I want to make any move now then it would be to an African country, and I don’t want such a move when I have offers from Europe.

So, I would rather wait until the summer and make the right choice instead of rushing into any move.

However, in the meantime, he is on his way to The Emirates and history suggests, he could be the one who ticks the boxes for Arsene Wenger.

I know nothing about the player, so as far as how good or bad he is, I can’t comment. But if he impresses, I strongly suspect he’ll be our first capture of the summer transfer window.

Andreas Cornelius is another rumoured to be on Wenger’s radar. TheΒ 20-year-old striker from Denmark scored in Saturday’s 3-0 win over the Czech Republic and is valued at around Β£5m. Stoke are reported to be keeping an eye on him too.

One who maintains he;s not going to be the first departure of the summer is Wojciech Szczesny – Β he’s clearly full of support for his current manager but you wouldn’t think he’d be trying a lot harder to straighten things out after PapaΒ Szczesny dropped him in the mire?

Making comments like these about this current squad will hardly help his cause:

I can’t imagine it here without the manager. With all due respect to my team-mates it was easier to work with Dennis Bergkamp, Robert Pires and Thierry Henry.

We have a strong squad now, but there is no player of Henry’s class.

Not sure his team-mates will be too chuffed either!!

Stuart Pearce is hoping to nab Oxlade-Chamberlain away from Roy Hodgson’s squad. The under 21’s have a European Championship inΒ IsraelΒ this summer and Pearce wants him to be part of that rather than waste his time being involved in friendlies for his country.

All that’s left is to wish the under 19’s the very best of luck in their NextGen quarter-final fixture which takes place tonight at The Emirates Stadium.

Kick-offΒ is at 7pm and tickets are available atΒ Β£4 General sale Adults/Β£2 General sale U16’s
