So, after several months of crazy football results Manchester United finally secured the Premier League Trophy yesterday.

Well done to them I say!

My own view though is that not one side in this English league ‘truly’ deserved to be crowned champions this season. Instead of it being a league about who would win the most, this year it really has been about who lost the least.

I know that sounds stupid but the results have been bizarre this season. No one team has stolen the show but when it came down to the nitty-gritty, Manchester United showed that had a little bit more than those around them when it mattered….

I guess that comes from winning, the menality is stronger.

I still believe though, it should have been ours and had we had just a handful of players who wanted it a little bit more, it would have been. Story of our season really!

A word about the FA Cup too – for the first half Stoke were totally outplayed and Citeh could have all but wrapped the game up but they didn’t. In the second half Stoke came out a much better side but when Yaya Toure ran his studs down the back of Wilkinson’s leg, I was stunned he didn’t see red, in fact he didn’t even get a caution.

From that moment you just knew didn’t you – and the inevitable happened when the same player hit the sucker punch.

Well, as much as we have had our battles with Tony Pullis and his side, they did themselves proud against a side that cost millions and millions!

Anyway, that’s my niceties over for today… πŸ˜‰

Today we face Aston Villa and Chelsea are at home against Newcastle. To remain in with a chance of grabbing second place we need a Newcastle win and then we beat Aston Villa.

More realistically though, we need to secure three points to keep the new FA Cup winners off of our back, we need to make sure we achieve third place at least so the Champions League qualifiers next season don’t have our name in there.

There is one thing I hope Arsene Wenger does today. Well, two actually – the first being securing us the three points, the second is to sit down with Gary McAllister after the game and tell him just how much he wants to buy Ashley Young, a true Gooner.

Make it clear to Aston Villas that Arsenal will offer what they want for their winger and they can have Denilson and Nik plus a couple of million pounds if they want. Tell him to talk to Houllier, remind him how badly Liverpool treated him and how he shouldn’t be thinking of doing any transfer business with them in the summer, certainly not for Ashley Young!

We need him, most fans hope that Arsene Wenger believes we need him too, so go on Arsene, after the game today, make it clear that you want to buy Ashley Young and make sure they know you won’t mess about with the transfer cost.

It seems that any hope that we had for a new assistant to join Wenger has gone, rumours are that he will stay on for at least one more season. If the rumour is true, let’s hope when he does retire it’s on a winning note.

Wenger admits a new voice in the dugout would not go amiss, adding:

“Yes, we always need that and I am thinking about it as well.”

I hope that ‘new voice’ is Martin Keown or Steve Bould.

Finally, this could be the last time we see an old favourite of ours at The Emirates – Bobby Pires was and always will be very close to every Gooners heart – a wonderful player for us from start to finish. I’m sure all Arsenal fans will give him a warm and wonderful reception today.

I still miss him to this day…….

I’m not mentioning the march of protest, other than to say I hope it goes peacefully and has the effect which is intended and I hope the board at OUR club watch and take in what is being said.…..

Have a good day all, enjoy the game, let’s hope it’s a top perormance for the last home game of the season….
