Failed Medical, Press Conference Today & The Boys are back…..

Morning all.

Well what a day yesterday as the rumour mill slipped into overdrive for Arsenal fans. Mathieu Debucy has declared he’s on his way to us for sure, Barca have reportedly accepted an offer for us for ‘you know who’ and then it was no surprise to see the name Lars Bender on the back pages again.

I also read a headline which suggested that Barca have a Press Conference scheduled for today and it’s expected they’ll be talking about them, us and ‘you know who’. Or maybe not…..

Other headlines suggest that Barca are being a pain in the butt and despite agreeing a fee with us for their Chilean player, they are hoping Juventus come in and match our offer. So what if they did, if the player wants a move to Arsenal, he’ll have the final say. All our club needs to do is get the deal done and get him in the door asap!

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, we have made a €28 million bid for Colombia World Cup star Juan Cuadrado. In my opinion this has to be wrong somewhere because no way would Fiorentina part with Cuadrado for that kind of amount as suggestion is, he’s valued around £35 million.

Ahmed Fathi, an Egyptian international right back who is 29 years old is apparently heading to us for a trial. Trial?? He’s 29 years old, surely by now it’s clear to see whether he is good enough or not!!

Lars Bender, well this seems more likely to be just a rehash of old news, so I personally am taking that with a pinch of salt. If it came true, well I wouldn’t be at all disappointed but what about Morgan Schneiderlin or Sami Khedira, aren’t we as a club meant to be after one of those? I hope so.

The failed medical, well that was Victor Valdes. He was due to sign for Monaco on a free transfer but that plan has been scuppered and now reports suggest that we and Man Utd are battling for his services. I wouldn’t want a fit and healthy Valdes at Arsenal, let alone a crocked one so fingers crossed there is no truth there….. I know, the signing of Kim Kallstrom is going through your mind!!

Transfer rumours are exciting, actually no, make that boring because in the main, most are made up by people who think they know something when most of the time they don’t – either that or they just repeat and add bits onto other stories they have read elsewhere. A bit like Chinese whispers really. What starts as an innocent comment containing few words, suddenly turns into a bit of big news once those few words have been repeated several times and been added to.

But I do believe the club are busy, not because I know anything as I don’t and never try to make out I do but Arsene Wenger has looked quite laid back whilst in Brazil and having just signed a new contract, he’ll surely not be daft enough to think fans will accept another transfer window of mediocrity? Neither will the owner/board.

Reality is that if we don’t have a really good transfer window, we won’t have a good season and as soon as results/performances take a dip, the pressure will be on. The Emirates will become a hostile place for it’s own players and Arsene Wenger’s position will soon be called into question…

We don’t want that, Stan won’t want that and neither in my opinion will Arsene.

For that reason alone, I truly believe the next few weeks will bring good news……..

Talking of next season, the boys are back in training today, well all those who didn’t travel to Brazil or who are still in Brazil.

And as our squad return in dribs and drabs, any new signings need to be in there with them. They need to get to know each other, train together and have a great pre-season together and that should make for a good solid start to the new campaign….

Come on Arsenal, get the deals done…..

Puma kicked off yesterday with the Ladies wearing a ‘one off’ new kit against Chelsea in the Continental Cup. A comfortable 3-0 victory for our ladies ended Chelsea’s unbeaten run. Good stuff!

That’s it, have a great day and stay away from that F5 tab, it’ll be worn out soon……

Morning folks , I agree about the Chinese whispers which is why I try to caveat my comments on what I hear from Barca supporters as just that :- from supporters that are feeding off of the scraps from AS , Sport ,Marca , El Mundo etc. They at least have the advantage of the rags being printed in their native language so they understand the nuances which our press either don’t or else ignore to sensationalise their editorials.

  2. rico says:

    Morning guys and gals….

Just like the headlines suggesting Juve will beat us to AS Potter, who knows that for sure, only the player knows where he wants to go…

  3. Wath says:

Think it’s safe to say we all know Barca are a bunch of slimey back stabbing two faced arseholes….! If they can get more money somewhere else or find someone who will pay more for “S” they will try make it happen so until we have signed off the deal it’s def not done but am hopeful he’ll be an Arsenal player shortly…!

    Morning All, Again…

  4. Wath says:

Rico, when the player wants to join a club very little the selling club can do so we wait for the player to return make his feelings known and the selling club decide to accept the offer on the table or hang ten to see if they can drum up a buyer who will pay more.

  5. rico says:

Which is why they are selling Ts, if they want big signings they have to sell, otherwise FFP will fail for them and they’ll be not wanting that….

Reality is, if Arsenal want AS and he wants a move to us, we are going to have to pay what it takes to get him…

And, considering the way we as a club sell for big prices, it wouldn’t hurt for us to spend big again… He’d be well worth every penny…

  6. goonster says:

Ok now am worried again. Seriously if we don’t end up signing sanchez I ll have a melt down of atomic proportions. God help me. It’s mata all over again.

  7. Luznic says:

Morning Lady gentlemen and ladies, another episode of the Soap opera called transfer window and to me its exciting not boring…… I love the links in my mind even when I know most won’t happen

  8. rico says:

I’m afraid that if we play a waiting game Wath, we’ll miss out…

Just hope AS really only see’s us as his future..

  9. Nickie says:

    Morning,

I’m back to pessimistic mode with S now. Loved that it was on BBC sport at the weekend. Shell shocked now and we seem further away than ever. Boo 🙁

  10. Luznic says:

Wath the S word has been spelt out by Stan and now he is trying to jinx it and pin it on you………Morning Stan I see you are excited about S but trying to hide the feeling

  11. goonster says:

Juve are apparently waiting for manure to spunk out 40 million for vidal. Knowing those bastards I won’t be surprised if they sign up vidal today just so juve could match our valuation for sanchez. It’s in their interest and our other rivals for us not to get sanchez. Lord God help me. Football is even dirtier than politics.

  12. Scott From Oz says:

Ginge, I read a few years back both Barca and Real hold their creditors to ransom.
A few banks knocked them back for more cash, so their fans decided they would simply change banks.
In cities like that, it adds up to a hell of a lot of accounts 🙂

  13. tsgh says:

As things stand we don’t even know if AW wants ‘S’ so there is no point in stressing. It could all be chinese whispers as you rightly said Rico…

As you always say Scott, its all about being consistent in views. Is it not funny how those same individuals who did not rate Alexis 2 months ago or even last summer when we could have gotten him now know we will buy ‘S’? lol
I know some folks will always take swipes but rumours/news are there if people can be bother to read further than the headines…

I was talking about ‘S’ from last summer and logic told me even before the world cup that Juve will have a say in where AS goes due to Xavi moving to MLS…

Commentators have speculated since last January that Juve will have to lose 1 of Pogba or Vidal.

Gundagun would have been another key factor in this window if he was not injured…

I’m sure barker are playing the Dutch auction game. They need a shed load of cash if they are going to buy vampira! Selling Cesc and one or two others will provide a little but the bulk has to come from a big sale… ‘s’ perhaps. The more they they can get the better! He has reportedly said he will not go to the dippers so the sale’ is on! The highest bidder will prevail! Will it be us? Fagin Wenger will not be held to ransom, eg Cahill and Bolton, so I reckon we can kiss the Chilean Bon voyage as he sails off to, well probably, Juventus!
It’s been fun discussing his ‘move’ now it’s time to move on. How about an Egyptian defender, for free! Much more Arsenal. You know where you are with ‘free’!
Morning all. Hope I’m wrong, but I’ll bet my porridge I’m not!

Posted this on yesterday’s blog. Thought it so good I’d give it another go!

  15. goonster says:

Oh gosh I think am gonna be sick. So hold up ginge no more sanchez then huh? Jesus in heaven. That’s it am losing it.

  16. tsgh says:

    Exactly Goonie…

The folly of some individuals will always hail insults if one has different view point to what the masses are saying.

You and I have been saying for a few weeks that Juve will have a part to play… its not claiming to be I.T.K its common sense imho…

Interesting Scott, I didn’t know that… A they say football is the 2nd biggest religion so…

  17. Scott From Oz says:

Ginge, 12 months ago I knew stuff all about Sanchez.
    Now, I know a bit.
What I’ve seen convinces me the guy is sensational and more than worth a go.
He’d be a hit in the PL, I reckon.

  18. goonster says:

Oh Lord wavy just put the last nail in the coffin. Why us lord why arsenal. Why do I always do this to myself.

  19. Nickie says:

He’s so right for us, we’re so right for him. I guess if I begin to believe he isn’t signing and he’s unveiled on 10th i’ll be over the moon.

I’d be so livid if Wenger signs terrible players and none of the names we’ve been linked with.

  20. Wath says:

We’re def not waiting on the “S” deal Rico, it’ll happen….! We waiting for him to get involved personally to get it done, you can’t do a deal with the main person absent due to being at the WC…! 😉

Relax Stan it’s not Mata all over again due to the fact you were involved in the Mata deal and spilling the beans way to early….!

Luz, am glad you’ve seen how Stan operates and tries to apportion blame…!

  21. tsgh says:

Rico, I know you told me off to speculating on here about S before the world cup..

But as I said then we should have paid the £25m then because he was going to have a bloody good wc and then we will be out of the race…

Fingers crossed we i.e AW and Stan push the boat out…

  22. rico says:

Best AS gets a wriggle on then Wath, and before Thursday 😛

Bloomburg? Is that some kind of Artisan bread?? 😉

  23. goonster says:

Seriously wath am having a melt down. If this deal falls through. Don’t know if I ll have enough strength left for anything else let alone being a blonde Adonis. I probably shave my locks and become a bald adonis. God help me.

  24. tsgh says:

Javier Faus told the world in May how much Barca had to spend this summer and that any big signing will be financed by sales as they have to cut their debt by 60% in 3 years… 2 more years to go on their plan….

in my own view…I believe that Barca thought £30m plus £25m from S would cover the bulk of Jaws fees based on Ian Rush’s ‘lie’ that Jaws’ clause was £uros 65m for teams outside the premiership… but it looks like the bin-dippers are asking for more than £80m…

  25. rico says:

Then you have a better memory than me Ts, I don’t recall that, and me telling you off, ha ha, I don’t think so… 😉

    Not for that anyway… 😉

  26. Nickie says:

Is the Juve news real? or is it a troll on Arsenal fans by the media. As if they haven’t had enough joy out of our pains over the last 8 years.

  27. Wath says:

Ts, Barca didn’t want to sell him before the WC they wanted him to have a great WC to push the price up….! Not rocket science that one and exactly how those scumballs operate…!

  28. Wath says:

Juve won’t pay big money for “S”…. They seem to value him at 20mil…! Don’t know where they get that figure from….! Cuckoo land…..

  29. goonster says:

Aha then there’s hope then. If they only value him at 20 million pounds then that favors us. God in heaven look at Me clutching at straws. I need help.

  30. tsgh says:

    lol Rico

    Apparently Fernando Felicevich said so…

A mate told me Keys and one Liverpool ex-pro said on Qatar Tv or radio during world cup that Barca had told them S was only going to join us if he was to move to the EPL due to the playing style.

Possibly, Barca was hoping that Liverpool offering S almost what Jaws was on at Liverpool would have swayed S but…

For those who have followed S since his Serie A days; S said that he would one day play for Juve so that is why Juve are i the equation……

I put Juve in the equation for that reason and Barca’s need for a replacement for Xavi…

  31. Luznic says:

Wavy, ts I understand you fear we won’t capture our man but on the S issue I am with Wath he is in the bag already, Juve can’t afford him not even if they sell Conte, do you remember what the owner said some months back about not been able to compete with the European clubs riches and also if those clubs come in for their players they might not be able to hold on to them, Pogba,Llorente were freebies and they got Tevez for peanuts and you think all of a sudden they will break the bank for S, they will take £45m plus nani and look for a cheap replacement, S is coming home calm down Stan you will just have to pee on the white house gates…….hahaha

  32. lee says:

They are massive financial (news) organisation that has it’s finger on the pulse of most things…but all I can find is regurgitated “Daily Fail” shite!!

  33. Wath says:

Not sure Lee, think we waiting on bigger fish to be caught first before that is decided upon but I def think they have spoken so that he is aware of what’s going on… Remy first would be a fans freak out… they’d think that’s it… I think if we get him it’ll be after a quality signing that is deemed “Star” buy….! Mate, WFT do i know….. !! Just how I see it….

  34. rico says:

Ts, Cesc said he’d never play for another club in the PL but us, however…. lol

    Thanks Lee…

  35. rogerbij says:

Welcome back from holidays Rico, I thought it was a good time to take mine too. I can recommend Schiermonnikoog for something windblown and different.

Anyway, thanks HH for getting me back up to speed and driving my optimism that we will any day now be buying up all my dreams

    – AS!
    – Sch/Khed/Bend
    – Deb/Aurier
    – and a solid Remy

    Hup Holland!

  36. tsgh says:

Luznic… you have a point on Juve.

But Vidal wants to try La liga allegedly…

The question is will Juve accept a £10m plus S and give them either Pogba or Vidal?

  37. goonster says:

Oh boy this is torture. One minute there’s hope the next minute it’d extinguished. That’s it am taking a sabbatical from arsenal transfers. Don’t a ant to die before my time. See you guys on September 2nd. Am done.

  38. Scott From Oz says:

Nickie, you are harsh on Barca.
The 16 million for Song showed us they are very GIVING hahahahaha

  39. Scott From Oz says:

    Lee, another of my picks.
I loved him from day one.
    Disgraceful send off v Liverpool!
    Bloody joke!!

  40. Scott From Oz says:

Stan, all hope for you will be gone soon.
RVP and Robben will soon be headed home 🙂 🙂 🙂

  41. Wath says:

Many people wrong about Kos mate…. I thought he looked decent back up and would make a better midfielder…. lol…. I think I need another GG… Stan is making me nervous.

  42. rico says:

Thanks roger, hope you had a great time too…

Lee, the ladies wearing the Puma kit is in the post too 😛

  43. potter says:

TS the ones I spoke with last week were worried , not because of the biting but because of the ban. They can’t see the logic in selling Sanchez before Suarez can play. In most respects I have to agree with them. However the power struggle at the club is still ongoing and is rather like the AKB / WOB argument here, they are split in two . The only difference is they are arguing about the president not the manager.

  44. Wath says:

Lee, they saying on dot com it was a once off kit….!

Only Scott knows the real kit… He been selling them in Oz just to spite Micko…!

  45. Luznic says:

Ginge with Vidal its two ways the strongest indication is he won’t be moving or he will go to Yanited, Juve needs money they will rather do a money business than a trade…….Vidal won’t move to Barca they don’t have money for him after they buy the gnasher and RM haven’t been linked with him yet so he might stay in Juve or go to Yanited and S most definitely comes to us if he leaves barca I am positive about my permutations lol

  46. Wath says:

Wait til Barca buy gnasher and the ban gets reduced… It’s so predictable and I said it over the weekend, Soon as he is a Barca player and WC over FIFA will fal over themselves to reduce the ban and he’ll be playing by end of August or early September…!

  47. tsgh says:

Wath, I think looking at it logically we are front runners…

Pogba was earning less than Zelalem before January.
Tevez is their top earner and he is on less than 100k.. I dont know about taxes etc…

La Liga TV revenue is 2/3’s of the EPL and gate revenue as dropped so low that Inter and Milan did not sell fully last season…

It all depends on how much we are prepared to folk out..

Will Barca accept us to pay them an extra £7m if we win the EPL i the next 2 years, knowing well that it depends on Chelsea, City, Yanited financial muscle as well…

I think Aw know S wants us and Felicevich seems a nicer man than DD Jnr; it all depends on Pogba/Vidal imho…

  48. tsgh says:

    Thanks Potter… very interesting.

From what i have read too as I was saying on the previous page, the board are not completely united on Jaws.

If reus was not injured, he might have had a say too in all this rumours

  49. ColleyGhana says:

It is quite difficult to be an arsenal fan during this period. I hope AS transfer comes true. Can’t wait!!

  50. tsgh says:

Luznic so you dont think Juve will accept £10m plus ‘S’ for Vidal…

It would have been easier for us if Pogba was not under Zidane’s influence…

Pogba will only move to RM so it messes up Juve’s selling power like Cesc with us a few years back…

  51. tsgh says:

Scott, Nickie- Song only cost Barca £10m… the other 5 or 6m was in performance related clauses which most of those expired last May so…
I doubt they are ‘twisted’ about that fee considering he has a £60m buy out clause…

If Yanited sell Fellaini, they will buy Song for £15m minimum if RvPursestrings puts in a word… lol

  52. Luznic says:

Song to Yanited? it all gets interesting, they don’t need him they need Vidal but trust yanited they go for the wrong ones just like Liverpool, no I don’t think they will take 10m plus Sanchez the deal is a no no for both barca and Juve

  53. tsgh says:

    lol Scott..

They- RvP and Song could re-create the Tim Cahill goal against us if he was to join Yanited … 😉

If Syg was here he would have a few words on this… lol

  54. Nickie says:

oh that’s interesting Ts, never knew that. I’m officially detaching myself from S. The media make me turn against Arsenal for their poor negotiating/failure to close a deal. We don’t know what’s going on behind close doors so why do I get so caught up lol. I remain hopeful there will be a player unveiled on the 10th. After that, who knows.

  55. tsgh says:

That is a bold statement Luznic…

I hope you, Rico and Wath are right btw. I will be pleased as a scouser in a fake designer handbag shop when we get him… lol

But then again if Aw does not get me Morgan my stats will be going to Wath for approval before I post them to back AW next time so… 🙂

  56. Wath says:

I think other deals won’t have a say in “S” to us… Juve won’t pay the cash up front that we do who ever they sell, It’s merely in my view Barca trying to get the most from us in anyway they can, underhanded press leaks, mentioning other teams but bottom like is who “S” wants to play for. The more i think about it, A proper media and marketing coup would be unveil the new Kit and sponsorship with bells and whistles on Thursday and then Friday unveil the new signings… that’s called cornering the market and sports pages big time…!

  57. tsgh says:

If you go with Josep Bartomeu’s words he is ours as Wath andco have been saying…

We still need a RB/CB and a solid DM too…

Please no Lars… he is not even a DM so why are we being linked with him.

I know we wanted him last summer because at that time Scott aka Ramsey or even JW was earmarked for the DM role so it made sense..

Why not Sven who can play CB and DM and RB…?

  58. Wath says:

Ts, the Morgan link is the sensible move seeing as we know AW loves stats more than you do and yes that is statistically a fact so I am told….! He will know that Morgan leads the league in interceptions tackles and all that other stuff that excites you so I see it that yes he wants him and yes he’ll pay 20million for him but not a penny more. The way the Saints selling and doing biz I would assume they have told us that any deal will be for more than what we are looking to pay so we have stalemate. Only if the other options are the equivalent in fees do I think AW will go for Morgan, if he thinks he can get Bender or Khedira cheaper that could sway him which I think is wrong but we all know how he loves to keep hold of the purse strings…!

  59. Gunnerdna says:

    Morning all good post rico.

Didn’t Darren and Geoff confirm Sanchez agree personal terms with the club before going to the WC? They are very reliable source when it come to afc transfer, people need to stop pancaking it will happen.

  60. tsgh says:

Interesting Wath… As Belgium are out of the WC lets see if the Witsel news to Saints is true.. that will mean we are ain for Morgan!

What again scares me is we had a chance to have him last summer for £17m-ish but we opted to Lars Bender and when that failed Cabaye which also failed

  61. tsgh says:

Stan Adonis’s idol Keoman had Witsel at Ajax so it makes sense that he goes for him from Russia

  62. Nickie says:

lol i’ve been caught several times Ts! Doesn’t help I have a glass wall behind me and the managing director keeps making swift walks past me

  63. Gunnerdna says:

Rico, they are Mr knows it all when it comes to AFC lol. Very reliable sources for transfers, i think Darren is also a shareholder.

  64. Wath says:

Ts, I think last summer should be written off as a nightmare of what if’s and not having enough eggs lined up and concentrating on just the one that ruined a great many things…!

Witsel to Saints is indeed interesting and seeing as Witsel is an Arsenal fan wonder if he will say he wants to come to us..?

Am with you on Morgan though, get him and “S” and a decent right back along with 3rd choice centre half we will be very very competitive…!

  65. tsgh says:

Nickie, I have been running some computaional electromagnetc compatibility simulations so it is easy for me now to just hit F5 or CTRL+S and say I am waiting for results whilst I do my daily duties on HH. lol

Kev since you like military stuff I thought you might be interested.

The Lars story is just repetition imo, I guess JC is as bored as us writing the same old transfer gossip 😉

  67. rico says:

    Tsk Tsk Nickie/Ts 😛

Do your bosses not understand how important this time of year is?? lol

Thanks Gdna, still don’t believe them… lol

  68. Wath says:

Ts, you can always get a new job making up stats you said you were very good at that last week… 😉

  69. Nickie says:

I haven’t done a decent days work since last Tuesday lol…I’m sure he knows 😉 Big rumour = less work. Internet refresh rates through the roof haha

Good Afternoon to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Rico – “That’s it, have a great day and stay away from that F5 tab, it’ll be worn out soon……” Thank you for the laugh, you know your regular house guests too well.

  71. tsgh says:

My Colleague just asked me why I always have my screen tilted to an impossible angle… lol 🙂

  72. rico says:

I’ve kind of always liked what he’s written Ts, he less aggressive towards the club than most other reporters but he still spouts s***e when it comes to transfers…

Some of which I think a mischief maker at the club throw towards him….

  73. Wath says:

I thought it was Adam that can’t stand him….
He made that horrendous tackle on that Belgian player a few seasons back….. Thinks he’s grown up lots since then…!

  74. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – You have changed your avatar in the last day or two, after using the other for years. Any particular reason?

  75. agirlagunner says:

I’m tired of this “S” story. He is in the bag. 😀 😀 AW likes to sign nationalities in pairs, so the bigger story is Vidal coming to us. 😆 Quadruple swoop now, haha.

    Hello, all. 🙂 🙂

  76. tsgh says:

Cg, Colombia let me down so since I am a glory hunter I opted for Mattias Sammer of Germany instead. 🙂

  77. Nickie says:

    Thanks Ts..

Urgh I hate the way we just get settled into the season then it’s ruined by mediocre football

  78. tsgh says:

Scott- They only know F1 and cricket.; they think football is only about WC. :). … my inner London school did not have a big enough playground to try cricket so we don’t mingle in that regards. 🙂

  79. agirlagunner says:

rico and WATH, yesterday’s post is the most read story at Arsenal-Newsnow in the last 24 hours. 😉

Hello, CG, Ginge and Nickie. 🙂

  80. tsgh says:

Hi Agag another of the optimistic believers… lol

House of Frazer in UK are having 50% sale on hand bags…

Wath your 12:19 is slanderous… have you read the Defamation Act 1996? lol

  81. Wath says:

How’s it slanderous….? You admitted to it last week in black and white on here………..

Now go stand in the corner and count to a 100…………….. then press F5….

  82. agirlagunner says:

Schneiderlin and Debuchy; Sanchez and Vidal. 🙂 Pairs, I tell you. Lol.

It’s hard for me to order from the UK, ginge. I’ve done it before, and the taxes charged at the post office when I claimed my parcels nearly made me faint. I do not know any package consolidator there, unlike in the USA. 🙁 🙁

  83. frednerk says:

Not sure if it’s true but has AS only 1 year left on his contract,
if right can’t see barce wanting to hold on to him……..can you.

  84. Wath says:

You need to ask your shopping buddy AGAG, he’ll buy hand bags for you and send them through lol

That’s you spending a lot of Arsenals cash there AGAG, AW will have a bloody heart attack when he see’s the fees and wages lol then again not like we don’t have the money.

Does “S” and Di Maria count as a pair…?

  85. Canadian Gooner says:

Sister AGAG – Good Evening. How are things in Manila and how goes the job hunt?

It would be fantastic if your quadruple swoop comes off. However, I think we will see two or three signings announced this week. A striker, holding midfielder &/or right back. Then Arsene is going to sit on the rest of the money and cherry pick a few bargains as other clubs panic about raising funds to buy some new players. That could rumble on right to the close of the window.

  86. Wath says:

CG, If we got in three top signings in the areas we need then I am more than happy for us to cherry pick another 2/3 players right up until the window closes….! We need “S” and Schneiderlin and a right back sorted ASAP though. Even those reporting back for training will get a buzz with those signings…!

  87. Luznic says:

some reports say we are going to double S wages in a £140,000 deal but when do we ever double anyone’s wages….we may not get Morgan ts

  88. Wath says:

I don’t want Messi Scott, think the bloke is well over rated, he’s also another midget, he’s done nothing the last few years for that tin pot club he plays for………… he’s pretty shit…!

  89. Wath says:

Luz, it would not surprise me if that is the offer on the table BUT that may not actually be his wage it’s part of his package that will be his wage and made up various other ways…!

  90. rico says:

I’m the same Wath, main players in asap, then a few last minute signings would be a lot easier to take… 🙂

  91. agirlagunner says:

Hmmm… WATH, don’t you go giving me ideas. 🙂 🙂 My shopping buddy does seem to know a lot of shops. 😀 Nah, WATH, it has to be S and Vidal. Or James and Jackson. As Scott said, Messi and di Maria. 😛

CG, I’ve conditionally accepted one; subject to certain other regulatory approvals. 😉 And I have another interview on Friday. I was made to take some time-bound brainiac test, which I apparently failed. Looool.

Luznic, if S isn’t earning much, then AW might be tempted to offer him close to double his wages. I also read somewhere that Ozil is apparently the highest paid player in the German squad, ahead of Lahm and Schweinsteiger.

  92. frednerk says:

Opinions on players and managers always gets people at it,
all this Ozil stuff, whenever I see him play he always seems to have time, and mostly looks for killer balls, for me a managers dream to have in your side.
So for me I find it hard to understand what all the fuss is about him.
A bit like managers really I defend wenger when other team fans have a go at him,his like a relative to me.
But what I find hard to understand is how a few arsenal fans can defend wengers dithering when it comes to spending,we know with the little Russian,he took wenger for a ride, but that happens in the transfer market.
I get the feeling wenger feels it’s safer not to go for the big names, once the competition pokes their noses in.
    Hope I’m wrong.

  93. Nickie says:

Business done relatively soon, maybe a naughty surprise or two come deadline day 🙂 hehe

  94. Canadian Gooner says:

Wath – I too would like to see Schneiderlin as our holding midfielder. I just wonder if Sotton are willing to sell anymore of their players after losing so many others already, especially at a price Arsene is willing to pay. We may to settle for Sven Bender, Sami Khedira or one of the young Frenchmen still playing in Ligue 1.

I think Arsene will go all out now for the marquee signing of a striker he wants and probably a right back. We may have to wait for the others. They might even include a Bosman or two like Ochoa the Mexico goalie.

  95. Canadian Gooner says:

Fred – I think we will see the best of Ozil when we get our speedy players Theo back and hopefully add ‘S’ to that. Players capable of getting behind the opposition’s defence and for Mesut to feed them the ball.

  96. Canadian Gooner says:

AGAG – Good luck with the job hunt and hopefully, by this time next week, you’ll have a position and we’ll have two or three, maybe four ha ha, of the players we all crave. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’d cross my toes too, but that makes it very difficult to walk.

  97. Wath says:

CG, seems the more established players at Soton have decided that they are now to good for a club that’s never gonna win anything, the time is right after playing well last season to make hay and get the move that best serves their careers…. Flip side is Soton rake in tons of cash and still have another great crop of youngsters coming through. I think they will struggle as you cant sell all your best players as we know full well but maybe the youngsters are very very good and by keeping a few of the older heads they’ll do ok.

If they lose Lovren and Schneiderlin thats 5 key first team players…. Hell of a lot to buy in and replace.

Then again I don’t care long as we get Schneiderlin…. 🙂

  98. Wath says:

Spot on Fred, “S” isn’t just a striker/winger, he grafts big time and puts in a shift…! Fits in with the Chile team work ethic but least we can see he don’t just stroll around the pitch. When your strikers defend from the front makes it so much easier for the team to work as a unit.

  99. Canadian Gooner says:

‘S’ will give us some of the steel we have lacked in recent seasons. Scheiderlin will too, if and when he comes. Debuchy is no shrinking violet either.

  100. Wath says:

Ts, you seen the Morata to Juve stories, that’s more like the kind of player their finances allows lol………..

  101. Wath says:

CG, players with a bit of steel is what we been lacking big time, It will sound daft but if we bought 3 Ray Parlours I’d be happy as larry…. we have the gifted play makers and the technical players… what we lack is that bite when it’s backs to the wall and we found wanting when we need to get stuck in. If we buy quality players who also get stuck in then for me thats proper and much needed.

  102. Canadian Gooner says:

Wath – Maybe Scheiderlin will do us a favour and request a transfer to the Arsenal. It has to be our turn sometime.

General question though – has anyone seen or heard anything from Serge Aurier or his agent since the Debuchy story broke? I wonder if we were ever actually after him, it was his camp angling for a transfer or did his club want too much for him after a decent WC performance?

  103. Luznic says:

I think the reason Wenger is buying Debuchy is because of Jenks, he could have gotten Nathan Clyne or Seamus Coleman for the same price he is getting Debuchy but those players will disturb Jenks growth because they are still young, we won’t get Schneiderlin, worst we will get Bender or Khedira, Ochoa looks good

  104. Canadian Gooner says:

Amen to that Wath. The Romford Pele would be taking a page out of his old captain’s book and giving some of our gifted but casual players a right bollocking and/or a swift kick up the arse.

  105. tsgh says:

When AW was aked why he did not buy Debuchy after he joined France Annex up north, AW responded because ‘he deemed Debuchy first XI material but needed a couple of years in EPL to adjust’… very interesting

  106. Canadian Gooner says:

Wath – I’m sorry I missed your post yesterday, but I signed off just as it came up. I read it today and thoroughly enjoyed it, I don’t think you’ll be taking too much flak over it.

On that note I will bow out again to get some sleep. Great talking with you all once more and I bid all Good Day.

    Keep The Faith!

  107. tsgh says:

Wath re your 1:18 that is why I have never rated Benzema even though he is a good striker…

  108. emma says:

    Good post rico,
I get the feeling that Sanchez is ours if Barca do not move the post(price). Hope we are not higuained at the end of the day

Local media here are reporting the dippers have reached an agreement with Benfica for Markovic(as Suarez’s replacement) whom I have not seen or heard about before and the belgian lad Origi(lille). They might Probably add shaqiri to that. Brendan Rogers is doing his best impersonation of spurs I guess.;)

  109. Wath says:

A few of ours need a kick up the jacksie once in a while CG, As you say a few more with a bit of bite and attitude and we’ll be a very very decent team…! Have a good sleep CG…!

  110. tsgh says:

Lol Emma… I think it will fall flat in their face. Barca will in the end decide to reduce their fees then the dippers will have to sell at £50m ish

  111. Wath says:

Thing is Adam we could of been talking to them since Xmas, if they don’t want to sell or want to try and make an auction out of the deal we can do nothing about it…!

  112. agirlagunner says:

Thank you, CG. 🙂 And don’t cross your toes, you might not be able to unravel them knots. 😛

rico, I read it in Forbes. I thought BM was a big club; pffft. Apparently, they don’t pay that well. 😀 😀

AW has not looked fussed; so I’m confident he has something fantastic planned this time around. Plus, I don’t reckon he would renew past his three-year contract, and he would want to be winning the PL again, and the ever-elusive CL, before he retires.

  113. tsgh says:

Maybe AW and his crew have been frequenting HH and learnt that the way forward is hard workers not skilful but luxury players…

  114. emma says:

tsgh – Replacing a 30 goal scorer with a 5 goal scorer/4assist all season with Benfica is just a foolish way of spending £25m

  115. rico says:

agag, but they don’t charge their fans much either for tickets etc…

    Only we do that.. 😉

  116. Luznic says:

Agag he never looked fussed last season now see how that turned out, but I just don’t know what makes me positive this time around S is good anyone thought about the prospect of getting Di maria

  117. Wath says:

The more they waste Emma the better………..

Why would anyone pay 80million for the gnasher… Seems mental, if they have any brains they let the dippers spend loads of cash then pull out the gnasher deal…. Then go back a week later and offer 50million…! Doesn’t seem like anyone else in for the lunatic so why not…!?!?!

  118. tsgh says:

Wath, the thing is like Adam said I heard that we had been in touch around that time as we told us last summer;but my previous ranting was because I interperetted the ‘non-deal’ to mean we had done a David Villa type turn around..

if you remember last January when I said there was no point in going after Costa as he would be joining Jose’s ban of bandits, I specylated/guessed that we won’t be buying a striker as we would be going back for ‘S’…

  119. emma says:

Nickie – I thought it was £25m as reported by @BenSmithBBC and he is due in liverpool on wednesday

  120. Hell Raising Devil says:

Good Afternoon Sunshine tomatoes (ladies) and Brazilian peppers (Gents). Are you getting enough vitamin D through sunburn??

Just read this on Just ARsenal……Having said that, Arsenal could possibly already have his ready-made replacement in Johan Djourou. The Switzerland international had a productive season on loan at Hamburg last season, and played in all four of his country’s games at the World Cup. With an 88.5% pass completion rate (from FIFA.com) you could say he played well, despite his country conceding nine goals.

Admittedly Djourou was inconsistent in his previous time at Arsenal, but maybe he just needed some regular playing time for him to improve. Wenger will have watched all his games so he will be in the perfect position to know whether he is ready to return to the Premier League….

Hang on. Isnt Djourou a Hamburg player? I thought he was sold to them after his loan.

  121. tsgh says:

Agag- Lahm is the 3rd highest player in Bavaria after Ribery. £10.1m per year.

He earns GBP 8,933,824.00 per year; Weekly: GBP 178,676.00

Schweinsteiger earns Weekly: GBP 190,588.00 which makes it just over £9.5m per year

Ozil earns just less than £140kpw but maybe he gets more bonuses

The diving king earns Weekly: GBP 129,600.00 per week

  122. emma says:

This is my own opinion. I think Liverpool wants to tie this dealsI (Markovic, Origi, Shaqiri) before Suarez-Barca and Sanchez-arsenal will be announced to soften the blow on the fans. Just like spurs did last season

  123. Nickie says:

Sorry Emma, I was a bit vague. I meant he’s not a 25 mil player no way lol. The fee is 25 mil like you say 🙂

  124. tsgh says:

It could be Emma- still so far as my prediction last summer that LS07 will leave by August and that Brenda will be sacked by next summer comes true…. lol

  125. potter says:

    Isnt Djourou a Hamburg player?

He is still listed on .com albeit without a squad number. Looks like we got a loan fee rather than a transfer one.

  126. tsgh says:

Dev, like JC both him and Djourou were loaned with a view to be sold but when Hamburg offered Euro 4.5m which I posted on here in January we did not accept/refuse so…

Maybe Le Coq is our DM after all…lol

  127. emma says:

On another note what is happening to our neighbours at 7 sisters? No noise of a big name signing this season. It’s being quite on their front so far 😉

  128. agirlagunner says:

Ginge, this is re: what Ozil and the other Krauts at the WC earn:

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/christinasettimi/2014/06/26/ouch-top-3-german-players-earn-more-than-entire-u-s-world-cup-squad/

Must have gotten a hefty profit off of shirt sales. 😀 😀

Hiya, emma. I hope Liverpool do a Totnum, that they have all these would-be star names, and none of the chemistry or balance on the pitch. 😀

Hiya, Dev. 🙂 Djourou was still listed on the dotcom as among the AFC players to follow at the WC. Like you, I thought he had been sold.

  129. emma says:

tsgh – lol re: Le Coq
If arsenal have any chance of selling him this summer then he is off. He was awful at freiburg. He could have being the potential RB player to replace Sagna if he wasn’t so hesitant to go on loan

  130. rico says:

Actually, just checked again and it’s changed, says he’s only on loan for this season…

  131. Hell Raising Devil says:

So expect JD to be the third CB behind Kos and Merts if Tommy V is sold. He did well at the WC and even managed to keep Messi quiet. With Merts by his side guiding him maybe he will find his feet and do well hopefully.

I like him as a CB however I feel that within our game he suffers. It is a tactical manager he wants. Like an Italian one or the swiss coach, Hitzfield, coaches who can rein him in a rigid defending formation where he can excell.

  132. Hell Raising Devil says:

BDW good point regarding Valdez Rico. Why sign him? I never liked him when he was fit, so now he is injured why get him? I always felt he was a liability at Barca.

Why not Ochoa? Ospina? both are free and younger than Valdez. so they can offer more options.

maybe they have discovered the DNA of an old war cannon in Valdez’ veins???

  133. Hell Raising Devil says:

maybe they have seen that Valdez has GunnerDNA?

hang on…..we have got a GunnerDNA?

Could it be that he is already writing on this blog???? 😉

  134. Hell Raising Devil says:

you get your salaries from that site Ginge???? lucky you.

I searched for your name…..but could not find it???? 😛

  135. agirlagunner says:

Dev, I thought Djourou had man marked Messi to non-existence. 🙂 But he is panicky, and at his age, that is worrying.

  136. Hell Raising Devil says:

Yes, Wath I agree. Keylor is one of the best keepers at the WC. But I think he will command a fee as he is still under contract it seems.

  137. tsgh says:

Agag- this site also talks about actual salaries of BM players without image rights and otehr earnings…

Payscale gives total salary including all tehir side jobs…

  138. tsgh says:

Emma- the sperds are looking for a patch of land to play 5 aside football… with that they hope they can win something. 🙂

  139. tsgh says:

So Ade-ba-whore earns more than Sneider? lol

    Annual: GBP 5,200,000.00
    Monthly: GBP 433,333.00
    Weekly: GBP 104,000.00
    Daily: GBP 20,800.00

  140. tsgh says:

Agag- my bad, it looks liek Ozil earns more than Lahm if you include his endorsements etc…

    Annual: GBP 11,018,382.00
    Monthly: GBP 918,199.00
    Weekly: GBP 220,368.00
    Daily: GBP 44,074.00

  141. agirlagunner says:

ginge, that is an interesting website, I’m appalled at how much Justin Bieber earns. GBP35 Million/year. Eeeeek, young girls the world over are just silly and so lacking in taste and obviously spend their parents’ money heedlessly. There is no hope for humanity!! 😀 None.

  142. tsgh says:

Lol Agag- Anytime I have to defend AW, I have a look at that site… it shows me Aw’s 7.5M salary is peanuts compared to even Pep…

  143. tsgh says:

And how is a lady such as you looking out for Justin Beiber? Is Justin visiting Manila soon? 😛

  144. agirlagunner says:

rico, spot on re Valdes. One of the most overrated players in the most overrated squad. 😀

  145. tsgh says:

Valdes won trophies and played for Barca he must be world clas… lol

Wath will ‘massage’ some stats to show that soon… 😛

  146. Wath says:

I’ll leave that to you Ts, that’s your line of expertise 😉

Valdez was shit with two legs so with one dodgy leg I’d not buy him in a month of sundays…!

  147. agirlagunner says:

Ginge, Justin Bieber annoys the heck out of me. So I thought I’d check how much he made. Lol. And now, having seen his earnings, I’m just angry. 😀 😀

Go grab a bottle of something bubbly, rico. 🙂

  148. tsgh says:

    Is CR07 salary worth it?

Cristiano Ronaldo – Soccer player Real Madrid – Born: 1985 Portugal – Girlfriend
    Annual: USD 80.000.000,00
    Monthly: USD 6.666.666,00
    Weekly: USD 1.600.000,00
    Daily: USD 320.000,00

  149. agirlagunner says:

WATH, Valdes got by because in his prime, Puyol ws a good defender; without Puyol, Pique and Valdes have been exposed for the mediocre players they are.

  150. Wath says:

Valdes was as you say AGAG protected to a large degree by the fact Barca were so good but when you saw him having to do his job he was a very very average keeper…!

  151. Wath says:

Made up you say… Problem solved Ts, If you get the sack go work for Sky………..!

    Couldn’t resist……….. 😉

  152. agirlagunner says:

Wath, Barca likes to pretend they are not a one-man team; but last year, when Messi was not playing his best, just what exctly did they win??

Those are are fighting words, WATH; ginge will post more stats just because you said that. 😀

  153. Wath says:

As if by some miracle of thought latest headlines on NN are about Keylor Navas being available from Lavante…!

  154. Wath says:

AGAG, you seem to forget that Ts know’s I can hide his stats and make them vanish 😉

Barca like to think they are something they not AGAG, they so far up their own backsides…… Can’t stand them and it’s why I want the “S” done ASAP as I don’t trust them one bit.

  155. agirlagunner says:

Enyeama was also really good. 🙂 And Tim Howard, to think I was sort of mocking him before the US played the Krauts. 🙂

I think the Blonde Adonis has checked himself at a medical center for some self-induced panic attack. 😀

  156. agirlagunner says:

And by the way, it was really tacky of Koln to renege on their promise to retire Pold’s kit. I mean, seriously?? The fans demanded that the number be occupied? Please. I like the Koln fans since they went to cheer on AFC v. BM. 🙂

  157. agirlagunner says:

GDNA, you’ll bring The Blonde Adonis out of hiding now. 😛

Good if it’s Debuchy; great of it’s “S”!!!!

  158. Gunnerdna says:

Barca have been in talks with Liverpool regarding Suarez while Arsenal have had a bit accepted for Chile winger Sanchez.

Zubizarreta said: “We are working towards building the best squad possible before the transfer window shuts and it’s positive that people [from the club] are travelling [in order to sign players] but it’s important that we only communicate official deals.

“When we have reached one, we will announce it.”

When asked about Sanchez, Zubizarreta added: “There is nothing new to report. We will announce deals when they are done. Right now, we have two Chileans in our squad.”

  159. Wath says:

Gdna, Darren on my timeline and i’ve not got a tweet of his saying that…!??!? Last tweet of his is about Club level being fully subscribed for the coming season…!

  160. Wath says:

AGAG, plenty decent keepers around, Valdes just isn’t one of them for sure lol

Depends are we looking for a keeper to be No1 and to challenge Chez or we looking for a very good back up keeper..?

  161. agirlagunner says:

GDNA, those comments are laughable. And there was a silly reference to Aspas; as though he were world-class.

  162. Joaquim Moreira says:

The stage today, arrive in London. In Europort Live you can see them inside London now.
Markovic is not a central forward. Probably he replaces Stirling…

  163. Sukky says:

Why will people rate Casillas and valdas or whatever?if they both started in Epl,they won’t make it that long. They are both poor in crosses and set pieces.I will take WS01 ahead of them.Even our own Martinez is a better option than them.

  164. Nickie says:

Odds for Sanchez signing are very short. Juve out at 8/1, Liverpool second favourites. Never reliable though are they.

  165. goonster says:

Howdy folks….can we not talk about transfers again. Am having a migraine. I think juve has beaten us to sanchez. He prefers Italy according to source in his homeland. So sad. Was really looking forward to seeing him unlock that chav defense plus we re really gonna get a whole lot of goals from set plays with him in the team. Bummer.

  166. Woody says:

No Nickie I don’t reckon they are.

If you could go by odds, we’d have Suarez, Mata and Higuain in our team, to name just 3!!!

Also, one thing you get used to as an Arsenal fan is that whoever is being spoken about the most if usually the player we won’t be signing.

Wenger likes to use a smokescreen to do real deals away from the press and other clubs.

You remember how shocked the press conference was when Sol Campbell walked out?

I can’t help but feel that could be the same here with Sanchez. With Balotelli Wenger rubbished the claims, yet he hasn’t done that here.

Whether it’s because he’s trying to buy him, or use it as a smoke screen I have no idea – I gave up guessing donkeys ago

  167. Woody says:

Anyone want to get really wound up should read this: http://talksport.com/football/joining-arsenal-shows-lack-ambition-liverpool-fans-sanchez-140707100326?

This is exactly why I hate Liverpool so much – grew up with this in my ear ever day living in the south…yeah the south. All glory hunting idiots.

I don’t like Liverpool at all – I may even find them more to bear than the spuds, but I can recognise their place in history and what the club has done etc.

These twats tweeting about us having no history is laughable…our history goes back mush further than theirs.

  168. BrainwashedKev says:

Liverpool fans, the staff and the players are fantasists…

    They still think they’re a big club…

Thank God they fcuked up the EPL last season, the shit from their media friends would have been nauseating….

    Afternoon from sunny Ashford btw…

  169. Woody says:

Yeah Kev, that would be unbearable. They are definitely the untouchables in this league.

I always thought United were, but the media hasn’t exactly been as kind to them as they have Liverpool over years of failure.

  170. Gunnerdna says:

“Why will people rate Casillas and valdas or whatever?if they both started in Epl,they won’t make it that long. They are both poor in crosses and set pieces.I will take WS01 ahead of them.Even our own Martinez is a better option than them.”

Is the EPL the highest level of football in the world? What type of stats do you have to support this argument? Casillas & Valdes is ahead of De Gea and De Gea is better than WS and Martinez.

  171. Nickie says:

10th is my cut off point. If they launch a kit without a new face then i’m done with being optimistic/hopeful.

What treats did you bring us back then Rico?! lol

  172. Woody says:

You’re a bit hopeful there Nickie, I can’t see that happening at all. It’s strange cos transfers used to come early when Wenger first came

  173. Nickie says:

    Woody,

Yeah lol, @Arsenal really rubbing it in our faces “on this day ….we signed….” I’m thinking, where are the bloody signings now?

  174. Woody says:

    Haha – yeah that’s it.

These days it really feels like they want us to suffer. I dunno, I over think these things. I get that we haven’t had much money and have needed to negotiate the best possible price, but those days are meant to be in the past now.

Ozil was held up by Bale going to Madrid, but if we’re happy to pay £32m or £35m, whatever it is just pay the thing and be done with it.

If Liverpool want him, or City, or United, then get the deal done and make the club feel like you beat all the other teams to his signature. For once we would be the ones on top, not the ones who first enquired and got beaten to the signature.

    Whatever…JUST GET ON WITH IT

  175. Sukky says:

So you rate de gea ahead of WS01?Wow!that’s surprising,to be he’s overrated and I will rate him as a good keeper if goalkeepers are asked to use legs and not hand.De gea is a joke.

  176. Sukky says:

So you rate de gea ahead of WS01?Wow!that’s surprising,to be he’s overrated and I will rate him as a good keeper if goalkeepers are asked to use legs and not hand.De gea is a joke..ox is better than him.

  177. Gunnerdna says:

Wood, we already made profits from Cesc and Vela deals, so the transfer window is already a success. lmfao

  178. rico says:

Wish I’d known Lee, was near to Bodmin a couple of days whilst out and about..

I’d have liked to pop into their shop with a Visa card 🙂

  179. Woody says:

Yeah, we seem more keen to sell players than buy them.

I guess we have to see how it goes, but I don’t understand why it takes so long. World Cup…blah blah blah.

  180. lee says:

Adam, I’ve a Bajan mate and he used to say it a lot. Basically chilling like a lizard on a branch of a tree…..

  181. goonster says:

It’s official sanchez had signed for juve. Fee agreed between farcelona and juve. So that’s it gooners. Another one bites the dust. Classic arsenal. I knew this ll come back and bite me in the butt. I was a fool to fall for it again. Should have learned from the mata debacle. Am so distraught.

  182. Nickie says:

stop trolling goon. or are you still upset Robben didn’t “earn” a penalty against CRC lol

Sorry Rico missed your note – I’m in Tufnell Park…Nr Camden.

So only about 15 mins from Emirates by foot.

If you don’t mind me asking, why do you ask?

  190. rico says:

No chance of him seeing Wenger in there then Wath… lol

Sorry Woody, I thought you were in the South and just wondered if you were near me. Clearly not… 😉

  191. Woody says:

Ah, no worries – the south is quite general I suppose 😉

I actually moved here from the leafier side of Surrey which is where I grew up, so that maybe nearer I dunno?

  192. goonster says:

Gee wath are you nervous? Is the heat getting to you? Did I make you shit your pants? Nice to see you all panicky you old toad 😀

  193. Woody says:

End of the day we can do nothing about it.

You’d just hope that the board and Wenger can see that this year will be the toughest yet. City and Chavski will be there again. United are spending like the above when they first got rich and Liverpool, even though they lose Suarez, are spending like crazy.

The spuds will probably strengthen, but on top of that they are not a bunch of strangers this year so should be a better team (maybe). Then you have Everton, but I’m not conviced that can do the same again given that half their team were on loan.

Either way that’s 4 top clubs and 2 to possibly threaten the top 4.

To win the league we are competing against 3 or 4 other teams and for top 4 there are 6 teams plus us.

We have to go big now, or we could miss out this time, then it’s harder to throw money at the problem as we may not have CL!

  194. Woody says:

Haha Rico – yeah me too, but I had no choice sadly. I didn’t want to be rude in case you live there, but then you are more in the country from memory?

  195. Wath says:

Think the only one shitting his pants is you stan… you need that chill pill and to go read to Brianna…! Explain to her why you read beano and tuttosport…! Am sure she will educate you 😉

  196. Woody says:

It’s a nice spot Adam actually, I’m really enjoying my time here. Not cheap, but very convenient…especially for the Arsenal.

Certainly better than my old 4 hour round trips that I used to do for every match!

  197. Adam says:

Woody. I know. You could walk it in reasonable time I imagine. I wasn’t born too far from there and have played a few gigs in some of the pubs up that way, but the world was a different place then. 🙂

    http://gunnersphere.com/2014/07/view-from-the-sphere/chile-star-agrees-arsenal-terms?

We have reportedly agreed personal terms with Alexis Sanchez but Barcelona and Arsenal are yet to come to a consensus on a transfer fee.

Both Liverpool and Juventus are also believed to be keen on the Chilean star, but 25-year-old admitted recently that he would prefer to work under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates next season.

Sanchez joined Barcelona from Udinese for around £30 million in 2011. Yet despite a decent start to life at the CampNou, the Chile international has been in and out of the team since the arrival of Neymar from Santos last summer.

If reports are to be believed that Sanchez is on his way to Arsenal this summer then it will no doubt be viewed by pundits and fans alike as a massive signing by Wenger.

Wenger was understood to be in the market for a new forward this summer and if the Frenchman has managed to pull it off then he would’ve sorted out his dilemma much quicker than usual.

A transfer fee between £32-35 million may be what we are looking at to splash out on Sanchez – a decent amount of cash considering Barca bought him for around the same price.

  200. potter says:

Yes Adam , the Lido , many a school holiday spent there. Parli Hill play football , cricket , tennis all day an evening swim and marine Ices for a sorbet on the way home. Those that say those growing up days are the best of your life might have a point.

  201. Hell Raising Devil says:

Mathieu Debuchy has reportedly completed a medical at Arsenal ahead of his expected move to The Gunners from Newcastle United.

Arsenal are in the market for a right-back as they look to replace the departing Bacary Sagna – who is on his way to Manchester City on a free transfer.

He told reporters at the weekend, after France exited the World Cup at the hands of Germany, that he would be on his way to Arsenal this summer.

The deal is believed to be worth €10 million for the French international and confirmation should now be just around the corner.

Arsenal are also after a new goalkeeper this summer – after the departures of Lukasz Fabianski and Emiliano Viviano this summer.

It is now being reported that Nottingham Forest’s young stopper Karl Darlow. Sky Sports have reported that the young stopper to offer competition and back-up to Polish custodian Wojciech Szczesny.

Liverpool and Tottenham have also been linked with the 23-year-old.

Arsenal have handed contracts to three young talents this week. Teenagers Glen Kamara, Tafari Moore and Josh Vickers have all committed their long term futures to the Gunners after impressing in the youth set-up.

Kamara is a Finland youth international and Moore has featured for the England Under-17 team at the European Championships in the summer – which they won.

Vickers has spent time on loan at Canvey Island.

Thomas Vermaelen has revealed he is unsure over his Arsenal future. The Belgian, who has been recently linked with Manchester United, has said:

“I really do not know where I will play, Arsenal or elsewhere next season. All my attention went to the World Cup. I will see when I talk with Arsenal.”

  210. Wavy says:

Haven’t the Orient got a half decent winger? We could buy him instead, much cheaper! Far more Wenger style.

I’ll believe it when I see it! S, that is. I’m not convinced, not yet anyway. Buying super stars is just not our style. Not our style at all.

  211. tsgh says:

lol Wavy… Alexis is not quite super star yet so in AW ball park…

AW likes to buy fringe players like S who were under appreciated by their previous clubs and then take them to the next level…

My dippers friend tells me AW is finished as a manager but then the better manager Brenda could not convince S to join the biggest club in football even though the bin dippers finished ahead of us… deluded!

Who said 4th is not a trophy? 🙂

  212. Wavy says:

Wasn’t he some old hoary character in a film with Judy Garland and a witch in the east and another in the west. A wizard I think?
Apart from which he moly cost £42,000 the journos got it wrong. They put the comma in the wrong place and added too many 0’s!

I think it was always on the cards that Arsene would buy big this year.

  214. rico says:

It gets busy during transfer time on here sometimes Rick, just hope IG and his merry men are equally as busy….

I’m of a similar opinion, too much has gone on for it not to be a good summer….

  219. tsgh says:

I still can’t believe Aw is keeping Sir No Goal… geez

I am worried about Gareth Barry and Le Coq news too…

  220. rico says:

    tim payton ‏@timpayton 2m
@garyprince er, Debuchy will end up costing more than having renewed Sagna. Probably best can do now but useful lesson..

I don’t get that because Debucy is younger, so not such a bad deal imo..

  221. tsgh says:

Tim is right; AFC havard analyst are just stupid…

then again Sagna’s wife was best friends with Mrs pursestrings and TV’s girl so… it looked like there was nothing we could do to keep BS down here…

  222. rico says:

Arsenal could wrap up the signing of Alexis Sanchez this week, report the Spanish media.

Marca write that Barcelona want to close the sale of the Chilean within days, with the Luis Suarez transfer holding the deal up.

The Gunners are front-runners, but Juventus are a real threat, and the player has a big decision to make.

“Arsenal’s offer may well be over €40 million, but the possibility of Juventus is still on the table, and would be to the player’s liking.

“Barcelona’s plan is to seal the transfer this week, immediately after signing Luis Suárez.”

The paper add Sanchez’s departure is ‘very close’, while meanwhile Liverpool have given up.

  223. rico says:

Ts, I always believe in a master of one trade, not a Jack of many…

If TV goes, sign a good CB because I’m not sure Merts will manage another season like last…

  224. Wath says:

Cheeky but true Ts, he’s a right back, he can get away playing the odd game at centre back in an emergency but thats it…!

With the signing on fee he would of wanted and the wages he wanted plus the age concern I think Payton talking utter shit, he’s another who loves the sound of his own voice…!

  225. tsgh says:

I am with you Rico but Sagna was also far better at CB than most CB’s out there imho…

I will try to enjoy the signing but personally I am not confident of BFG and Debuchy pairing on the rhs…

  226. Woody says:

It’s very positive on here this evening. I hope it’s for good reason because us fans could really do with some early business this year.

It would be great to see most, if not all, new signings in for a full pre season to get used to their surroundings.

  227. Wath says:

    Cheers Ts….. take it easy.

Agreed Woody, a good pre season is vital for new players although the WC has put paid to that with half coming back 2/3/4 weeks later than the rest.

  228. tsgh says:

From Al jazeera Cesare Prandelli replaces Roberto Mancini at the Istanbul-based club following Italy’s exit from the World Cup.
This kind of news arrives in UK 2 or 3 days late…

S looks done in the middle east… bets are closed…
    gone now

  229. rico says:

    One last thing…

    4) Nike reportedly set to end Manchester United kit deal as the question the ‘commercial sense’ of the agreement
    http://mirr.im/1n1tyFf

    🙂 🙂

    Gone now….

  230. Wavy says:

    Gareth Barry mmmmm
    Whatever happened to project youth??

And can’t sell Jenks as he is ingleesh! It’s a quota thing!

  231. BrainwashedKev says:

Carl Jenkinson to be loaned to Newcastle as part of the Debuchy deal?

Or even sold (I hope not)…

  232. BrainwashedKev says:

Joel Campbell to be loaned out again it seems…

Then only reason I can see is that Wenger cannot fit him into his squad as well as signing all the foreign players he needs for his 25 man squad.
That could explain the interest in Barry, the fact that he is English…

Also the Nottm Forest goalkeeper, English again!

  233. BrainwashedKev says:

The foreigner vs domestic rule, in the 25 man squads, could explain why the artificially financed Petro-Dollar clubs have given Arsenal a free run at Sanchez…

Not only FFP, but FIFA/UEFA rules on quotas is having a positive effect…

  234. Wavy says:

He surely has to increase the ingleesh contingent, or at least hold on to what is already there?
FFP works in many and varied different ways.
And not all French players are the bees knees!
Debuchy, fills a spot but he’s still French! He’ll do for now,but he’s not the ‘answer’!

Transfers in ….Nil..transfers out…plenty… Cash in bank…loads….players of newness… Nill players of class …in ….nill

    I live in hope………?

  235. BrainwashedKev says:

Thomas Vermaelen is suggesting that he might stay at Arsenal after all.

I, for one, would be very happy if he does so…

Arteta also looks set to stay, good…

The retention of most of last seasons squad is a positive imo.
It’s taken Wenger long enough to put together a trophy winning squad.

    Why would he dismantle it?

Only the dorks in the Press/Media seem to think it’s a good idea.

  236. BrainwashedKev says:

Wavy, that’s why Coquelin will not return, another foreign player, not least the fact that he isn’t good enough…

Anyway, Sanchez in the door by the end of the week, hopefully.

Still room for Khadira, I hope…

    Night All

  237. Wavy says:

TV should stay, he’s still , club captain after all and we would be a poorer place and team without Arteta, he is a class player and human being. I think he is the epitome of a proper Arsenal player. A class act on the field and a class act off it too sometimes the club has to recognise men with ability and integrity, and he is definitely one. He may not be a regular next season but he’s worth his weight in gold!

  238. rico says:

I can’t see us selling Jenkinson Kev, I could have had we signed Aurier, but not with Debucy.

    Morning all…..

    I love the dawn chorus but….. 😉

  239. lee says:

    A Cultured Left Foot…

So this it, the first sense that there is a resumption of club football around the corner. Pre-season training began for some yesterday, others drift into Colney over the coming month, ready to launch a trophy challenge on five fronts. Yes, five; when Arsenal are involved, the Community Shield counts as a trophy. How many – if any – will be successful, well, that’s the rollercoaster ride we embark upon in six weeks time. Unlike the book or dvd where you flick through to the end, we don’t know how it will turn out, just that it will sear into your emotional well-being. Good or bad, that is up to the fates to decide.

Arsenal can help themselves, of course. You can’t be held a hostage to fortune over the course of a season and reading between the lines, they seem to be doing their utmost not to be pulled into Lady Luck’s hypnotic gaze. Barcelona said something and nothing yesterday but appeared to confirm that Alexis Sánchez is moving anywhere but Liverpool, observing at their press conference, “Negotiations are taking place behind closed doors. We don’t want to talk about these things openly.” In transfer talk, it’s the equivalent of 2+2=614.

Dissecting that comment is interesting. Or more interesting than ignoring it. Could it be that they don’t want to talk about such things openly for tax avoidance reasons? Might it be that they don’t want the world to know how much the Suarez deal will cost them in light of the economic conditions in Spain, fearful of a backlash from the nation over a fee deemed to be obscene? Could it be that the Chilean is going to Juventus for more money than Arsenal are willing to pay and they don’t want Liverpool to know lest they up the asking price? Who knows. Other questions arise from it, most notably, “Have aliens landed and taken control of Barcelona because frankly that’s more likely than the Catalans keeping quiet over a transfer?”

When Andoni Zubizaretta observes that “Negotiations held privately are better. I’m happier that way. The rest is speculation“, you know that this time, Mars Attacks were successful. A messy deal revolving Barcelona is somewhat apposite today given di Stefano’s own history.

Meanwhile the media report that Arsène remains in Brazil, preparing for the pundit’s role in the final quartet of matches in the World Cup, ready to drop everything and return to Blighty at a moments notice should any transfer require his input. Which is all of them. A regular criticism of Wenger is that he is too much of a control freak, that he does not let the coaching staff get on and coach. That can’t be levelled at him now; he’s certainly left the conditioning aspect of the pre-season training to others. At the same time, Wenger has been accused in the past of dithering over deals so staying well out of it seems to saté that desire to neuter his influence over the monetary side of the club.

I am sure that this extended stay in South America will draw ire to the surface in some; he can’t win in that respect. If it backfires, if Sánchez for example, signs for Juve or whomever, because their manager met him in person whilst he sat on the Copacabana, then I’m afraid his position is indefensible. If he signs for Arsenal, then fair play to him for resting ahead of the coming campaign. Whatever the case, a rush to judgement now is a moment of haste and frankly there are other, more productive things to get het up about.

Over halfway through the post and I haven’t even mentioned that the only reason Arsenal want to sign Lars Bender is to shift the Bendtner shirts that are currently wedging the warehouse door open. There is no truth in the rumour that the club has directed the work experience lad to bring his red felt tips in to work and start colouring over the superfluous letters. None at all. With the Spanish media reporting Tony Kroos has agreed a deal at the Bernabeu, no doubt the stories about Sami Khedira will pick up pace as well. This one could run and run which is what you want it to do, given it is about midfielders. The warning signs will be there if even the transfer tattle doesn’t have legs. If you feel that contemptuous, the familiarity of the situation brings it about. Transfer window, big money waiting to be spent, German Real Madrid midfielder…stop me if you’ve heard this one before.

Elsewhere, a question emerges: when is a transfer not a transfer? When it’s a done deal in the papers. Take Mathieu Debuchy. And someone wants to take him outside and give him…a first class ticket to north London. The player announced to French TV he was joining Arsenal at the weekend, the fee dropped about £3m in the blink of an eye and everyone was happy. All except Carl Jenkinson probably, who was no doubt hoping to be given a shot at the right back slot. However, this morning, as Puma ready themselves for the kit launch, it seems unlikely that anyone much will be there to celebrate it. Debuchy won’t, this morning sees a slew of reports that The Barcodes want Campbell or Jenkinson on loan to seal the deal. How true, who knows? The latter seems unlikely as it would leave us bereft of cover on the right; the former? Pffft, if Arsène is still in Brazil, who knows. Where’s that plane ticket…

Yes, Rico, thank you. I spent most of yesterday in a basement studio, starved of the beneficial part of the Sun’s spectrum and reinforced by tea and brioche. I of course checked HH for news on the few occasions I surfaced.
