Edinson Cavani linked as Arsenal reported to be set to break the bank……

Morning all,

According to the author of Ashburton Grove, two things are set to take place real soon. The first is the conclusion to the Theo Walcott deal and it’s expected he will commit to Arsenal for a few years and the second is that the club are about to make a signing. It must be a good one too as the amount we are reported to be paying will break any previous record in spending.

I think the Walcott one is probably true, the record signing, well if that comes true then it will quite interesting to see who this guy is. Edinson Cavani is the favourite on the ‘Rumour site’.

Whoever he turns out to be if anyone does sign, I hope he’s got as much passion as this little fella……..

Passion!!
Passion!!

That’s the face of a man who cares about Arsenal…….

Last night, especially in the second half, he was everywhere and involved in everything good about the way we played.

He was simply on fire and boy are we lucky that he’s a Gooner through and through. If ever a player deserved a goal it was him and what a stunning finish it was too. Cazorla to Giroud, Giroud to Jack and wallop, no messing with his left foot. What a beauty!!

To be fair, both Walcott and Giroud deserved goals too. Not for the same reason as Jack but they both got themselves in the right place on a number of occasions but neither could make them count. In fact Theo’s finishing last night was atrocious! How he didn’t score with his head I just don’t know, that cross only needed the faintest of touches but he couldn’t even manage that.

He did see another hit the post though towards the end so it’s not afraid to muck up his hair!

We looked better though didn’t we. From the off we were defending from the front, even Walcott did a bit of defending which is so unlike him! We were closing Swansea down a bit quicker, we looked like we wanted to win and that’s something which has been missing of late.

The unexpected start of Coquelin and Diaby looked good at times but what a difference Capoue or someone similar in there would make. We know we can’t rely on Diaby.

Sagna and Gibbs looked a lot more assured and Thomas Vermaelen looked happier with Mertesacker back by his side.

Arsene Wenger after the game:

On the performance…

We had a better team balance tonight and created chance after chance, especially in the second half but even in the first half we created chances. It was unbelievable that we couldn’t score, but we got it in the end. We persevered and were rewarded and we had a good performance. It gives you a lot of regrets that we played with 10 men on Sunday when you see our second half and our game tonight. It is important that we continue to develop like that as a team.

On Jack Wilshere…

Yes, he was outstanding tonight. I felt many players played well. As a team we played well and he was in a different position, he was high up and it suits him well. I have no experience of player being out for 17 months in my whole career, but honestly I always said that if we got Jack on January 1, then we would have done well. But he is ahead of what I could imagine.

On whether he considered taking him off…

No, I did not envisage that at all. I would love to have done it, but I was never in a position to do it because you could feel he was a threat. Even as a left winger he was a threat. We combined well, Gibbs had a great second half on the left side, also on the right side – we were dangerous everywhere.

On whether No 10 is his true position…

He is at the complete midfielder, he can play anywhere. He is a guy who can dribble and give a final ball, so the closer he is to goal, the better it is. He has quality and enthusiasm, and love for the game. That is the most important thing to me.

On Coquelin and Diaby…

We try to put a but more power in to defend better and it looked tonight  like it worked well. Diaby responded well, I should maybe have taken him off a bit earlier but he looked alright.

Good ending to the night and an away trip to Brighton in the next round is our reward.

Now that will be even tougher that last night……..

For now though, it’s back to the Premier League and a trip to Chelsea on Sunday……

Have a good day all….

It was so nice to walk back to the car after the game without having the hump.
Jack was excellent last night and the crowd responded. It warmed the place up. If only the team could string two good halves together.
There was a better shape too and I quite like Santi on the left. Gibbs looks like he is running into some form too. Diaby gives us something that no other player at the club does. He is certainly rusty but, if his fitness holds, (a big ask) we might get some stability of shape and not look so vulnerable. I would still like another player of his type to come in, for obvious reasons.
Pressing the opposition works for us. It saps energy for sure but we can look dangerous in possession. Another reason why some cover in CM would be a good idea.

  2. tsGH says:

Cavani?? That would be a dream… a better player than Falcao in my opinion even though he is not as clinical…

Good happy post… HH needed it.

On other news France is dispatching a contingent of at least 2,500 soldiers to Mali, while for five nights in a row French Rafaele and Mirage jets have pounded towns taken by anti-government rebel forces.Britain, Belgium and Denmark, are providing transport planes. The US is offering communications and intelligence equipment.

    Another war on the horizon…

  3. rico says:

Adam, totally agree. and 😆 re the cava…

    Hi Ts…

Got to dash off this morning, back in a couple of hours….

  4. Adam says:

Oz. it was freezing but, thankfully, there was no real wind to add bite. I wore the whole bit including long johns and lined trousers. I even spotted Lee with his Kroenke Ceremonial Syrup on (thermal version). I was surprised at how young men I saw with t shirts and inadequate jackets worn with denim jeans which I always think are horrible in the cold. Reinforced by lager and with red noses they were locked inside blocks of ice by the end and looked just like Jack Nicholson at the end of The Shining.

  5. babakrdaemi says:

Lets not forget for Arsenal to break the bank we are talking £10 – £20m. Rather non-descript signings for our comeptitors.

It would amaze me if Arsenal sudenly signed a £25 – £30m player.

Imagine the fear from England and Europe if Arsenal added £100m to the squad value this Jan.

Chelsea would shit themselves, they cant get a good manager (DeMatteo and Benitez having been the last two to take one of the best paid jobs in football). Utd are more than catchable, RvP has got to pick up an injury at some point and City have curbed spending to ensure they dont fall foul of FFP.

Dreaming abit, however, we are very close when you consider that Chelsea added £100m in attacking players this summer. I dont think they are a lot better than us.

COME ON THE GUNNERS shock me

  6. Thorough says:

Its amazing how well a supposedly rusty Coquelin looks anytime he gets a chance in the team. And with Arteta out, even if he were in, I’ll prefer this young man is given more chances. Gave the defense a decent cover and yet had enough sense and guts to join the attack whenever extra bodies are needed. Good player, the Coq. Let’s stick him a lot more often!

  7. gunnerdna says:

Good morning hh…tsGH u bring good luck to the ems yesterday, u need to start attending more game…lol..pls leave my boy SC19 alone…lol

  8. tsGH says:

:grin:re 9:43… Adam French tactics? Don’t I see enough at Arsenal?Plus I am a lover not a fighter…. I am hard on the’ men thems’ and soft on the ladies… Dench

Hollande came in promising peace and well…

Oz it was -2 deg in my patch of Surrey when going to work.

  9. tsGH says:

Hi JW… how are you? You know me I am easily impressed or maybe my expectations are so low now that I am even happy with a draw against the Saints. Considering the so called big teams have also struggled against Norwich, Saints etc as we have…

Dna, I am not sure it was me… lol
It was good to see AW switching your boy to the LW.

it was freezing at the Erms… I went straight from work and was not as wrapped up as I should have been.By the time I got home I was thinking if we had gotten booted out of the Cup i would be given Lee and yourself a run for your money with the ‘wenger out’ chant this morning

  10. Zodo lamang says:

Yes if that news is truth, we fance we ll be very hapy, and thk to team 4 their good per’mance yes’day.

  11. victor says:

ENOUGH ABOUT ALL THEM RUMOURS…WE NEED TO SEE SUPER SIGNINGS OR ELSE WENGER OUT WITH YOUR FAT LIES. CASE CLOSED

  12. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning all, Nice one Rico 🙂
Glad to read that Adam had a nice walk back and he sounded like he enjoyed it, good on ya son.
I feel a bit like Wath when he says he’ll only believe it when it happens. Wenger breaking the bank, now that sticks in my throat he must be getting Nervous but a win against Chelsea should see off that rumour.

  13. gunnerdna says:

tsGH look at the difference 1 player with height makes, tell your boy AW to sign fellani and mvilla or capoue.

  14. tsGH says:

Thorough Le Coq is a natural footballer, no arguments about that. But the question is if he is a DM or a CM? Yesterday, watching him again in real life I realised why AW has no confidence in him as a DM especially without an experienced head beside him… His positional sense is shocking! If it was not for Diaby having a footballing brain our mid field would have been more porous than french cheese…

We definitely need a DM especially if Frimpong is not going to be ready this season. Unfortunately, on both loans frimps has been played in an unnatural advanced role because he comes from Arsenal or schooled by Arsenal as the said managers have put it.

I still think we have a problem if the positioning of our non-defensive midfielders when we do not have the ball. Yesterday in the first half JW10 fell victim to what I slate off SC19 about because De Guzman was allowed to boss the midfield!

One player who also gets a shout out from me is Ramsey… The boy has ‘ball sense’. the positions he takes on the field is amazing… he just needs to work on his final ball and finishing to become comparable to Lampard and Stevie G imho…

  15. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
    Cavani….nice, but who knows?
After last night, play Jack up front with OG12 as CAM lol.
For a bit man with no touch or skill(according to some) Giroud really can deliver a pass.
Theo on another day outs 3 away, and though i can be hard on him, the fact he kept getting into good scoring positions was impressive.
I will not mention the (almost) header.
The best thing is we are not talking aout our back 4, because they were very safe….a little edgy on set pieces, but this is Arsenal.
Yes, Diaby showed what he brings to the game, but due to his injury concerns, we need a DM brought in…..we could look this good every week!!
How many read Wengers comments on Jack??
He stated that Jack has his speed on the ball back to 100% mow, and that is why he played him so close to the strikers……just repeating what he saidx, but hey, it worked, and better late than never!
Great to read so many positive posts after a game.
    We played well.

  16. gunnerdna says:

tsGH leave my boy SC19 alone mate. lol, i must give the gaffer credit for his team selection yesterday, 1 of the best game played by afc this season, well done AW..lol until u mess up…lol

  17. doctore says:

I don’t any Arsenal fan would believe the Cavani story,if you do,you’re just a sucker. So save yourself the grief,Arsene aint signing no one,he would just spin his usual lies till the window closes “again”……………Diaby new signing my a**

  18. JW says:

Good morning ts, I’m fit and well thank you.

What a morning, the sun blazing down on the snow covered fields, temperature almost up to zero and a warm glow from last night’s win.

Away with all the doom and gloom!

  19. W.A.T.H says:

Morning, Funny how when the team puts in a shift we’re not talking about how we lack passion and fight and commitment… When the team turn up and do what they supposed to do we comment on what we see and it’s nice to see them looking like they cared for a change. The fans respond in the ground the players start getting stuck in more and it’s a win win…!

As for the “Huge” signing………… yeh right seeing is believing… Everything crossed…!

  20. tsGH says:

Hi Scott remember you bring nothing but negativity so shut it… lol how are you buddy?

Dna.. I love me a SC19 but as I have been saying since August at 27 y.o his positional sense is atrocious..

Maybe Boro, AW and Banfield have to get all our AMs together and work on their position especially when we do not have the ball. I do not like the way opponent DM have their best games against us because we allow teams to play from the back too much..

  21. W.A.T.H says:

Ts SC19 is from Spain so he’s never had to really graft and defend like he now has too, new to his game and sometimes you can see he struggles with it but he’s learning and doesn’t hide..!

  22. Scott from Oz says:

    Sorry Rocky…..
    I am good Ginge.
Santi is almost a Freelance player…..unleash him and let him do his thing.
I am still gobsmacked how good Jack has been our this week.
You must assume he will keep improving het, and it is a scary thought.
Still, i hope the FA directs their refs to give him a fair go!

  23. JW says:

Scott I’ve just had a look at some of the action from the Australian Open tennis, it sure looks warm there.

Right I’ve got to clear the snow off of the car as it’s time to do the Monday shopping trip.

  24. W.A.T.H says:

Scott, don’t be daft, when will refs ever protect a player in an Arsenal shirt… that bullshit from SUnday has given licence for anyone and everyone to kick Jack, the FA say it’s ok even if it’s studs up jumping into a tackle…!

  25. stevepalmer1 says:

I think the reason we played well last night was because it was fffing freezing and if they were to stand like they usually do they would have frozen to the ground. Diaby cannot like these conditions so expect a reacurence.

  26. Scott from Oz says:

JW,they had their 40 degree today in Melbourne…we get it tomorrow.
Still 100 odd fires raging in NSW alone, with 30 out of control.

  27. W.A.T.H says:

Couldn’t of done his aches and pains any good that weather SP… Diaby I am talking about not Lee…..! 😀

  28. Scott from Oz says:

    Lol Steve.
I reckon it showed exactly how much we need Diaby, or a player of his type.
We looked very good early on with him, and we look very good suddenly on his return.
Wath, the Citeh game was a disgrace to watch.
I was surprised Jack walked off the pitch.

  29. Lee says:

WATH, nah I didn’t do Brighton but Wilko was there!! I was numb from the cold last night so no aches or pains for me…it’s alright for you armchair supporters!! 😉

  30. Wavy says:

I heard it was Joe Baker!
£30m on 1 player? Coming to Arsenal? You’re having a laugh!
    Hell willfreeze over first!
More likely to be Kevin Lisbie from the Orient.
Why do we need anybody? We have Afobe, Ryo, Eastman………etc etc. all new signings when they return from their loan spells. Not to mention Diaby!

  31. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning Scott I envy your weather mate (not the fires though) We play well when we have a penetrating runner Rosiski Jack and yes even Diaby 🙂

  32. tsGH says:

Hi Emma… thanks for the head-up

Hi WATH… I think on SC19 it is a cop- out, Iniesta, Xavi, Isco and the likes all work hard off the ball. RedNose will not tolerate that. Do you remeber Jose use to treat Robben for that attitude?

That is the extra 5% Aw needs to be able to get from his current crop of players. I agree these players are naturally better than the ‘invisibles’, as an example freddie Ljunberg was not the most skilful player but he had the graft all Scandinavian players have…

We always seem to have 5 players trying their hardest on the pitch with 2 out of form and the other 3 coasting like they are about to go into Spearmints…

  33. Scott from Oz says:

I love everything Laudrup says…the man has class about him.
He says Jack has a little way to go to prove himself at the top level, and i agree.
Funny though how many blogs and sites are saying Laudrup is questioning his ability…talk about twisting the truth.
One player few, if any, have mentioned after a much, much improved performance is Sagna…he was terrific yesterday…except for his crossing, of course 🙂

  34. W.A.T.H says:

Lee, was mad day mate… proper fun…! Oi……….. I’ll have you know it was chilly walking to the pub last night 😉 No armchair involved I am not that out of it…!

  35. W.A.T.H says:

TS, they in teams that all graft, at Villareal he had Marcos to graft for him so certain players at certain teams are allowed to be a luxury…! For me he doesn’t look to hide it’s just new to his game so he’ll get there.

  36. Scott from Oz says:

Steve, over all, we have a great climate here, that is for sure.
    Penetrating runner with the ball,yes.
Also, Diaby is very hard to knock off the ball.
Jack is incredible in tight positions….looked like Messi navigating through.

  37. emma says:

The unsong hero yesterday was diaby. He made a lot of interceptions in the midfield and covering those vacuum left by Coquelin. If only he could remain fit. He brings an air of stability to the team.
Finally AW did what tsGH and I have being crying about. Shuffle SC19 to the wings, that is where he is dangerous cutting in. Wilshere was on another level yesterday. The CAM role suites him. The way he glides past players and to think he was out for 17 months and he is just 21 is scary. Coq I am afraid needs more game time and another loan move with an EPL team will suite him

  38. Lee says:

I thought Coquelin had a good game.
So you’re not pipe and slippers quite yet WATH? Did you wrap grandpa up well before you went up the battle cruiser?

  39. W.A.T.H says:

Emma it’s so obvious we miss a physical player in midfield and wenger says it all the time when Diaby injured yet doesnt buy to cover us in that position…!?!?!? Why… so stupid when our season could be so much better IF we had got in a big powerful central midfielder

  40. emma says:

JW10 thrives on tackles and glides past players like messi does. What Jack needs to improve on is his finishing and I believe that will come with time. He doesn’t like to shoot when he gets into goal scoring position, he still wants to make that final pass

  41. stevepalmer1 says:

We seem to have a decent team when they play in the right positions. Allthough i was on the setee lee i only had a few 🙂

  42. W.A.T.H says:

Not quite smoking jacket n slippers yet mate… Not Matron would not let AK out last night she said far to cold for the ole boy…! Up the battle all on me own mate…!

  43. W.A.T.H says:

I read the other day Scott he has already signed for someone…! JM mentioned him I think… ?!?!?! I could be way off their but someone mentioned him

  44. Scott from Oz says:

Wath, he name didn’t ring a bell at all with me, but apparently he is very good, and according to the article written today, still available.

  45. W.A.T.H says:

Can’t comment Scott not seen the fella but as said am sure JM mentioned him the other day and said he’d signed or was signing for someone and JM said why are we not looking at him…. Who know’s….?

  46. emma says:

Scott – Lago aspas plays for Celta vigo and a striker who has an eye for a goal. I said a couple of days ago if there is one striker we should get instead of david villa its him. He’s got an eye for a goal and in the mode of michu

Wath – If only we could get a backup for Diaby. We need a physical presence in the midfield. Sissoko is on his way to marseille like i heard, Capoue is still available but doubt if he will move this window. Dont know how Diame did last night at the old toilet

  47. Scott from Oz says:

    Thanks guys.
Not sure then if he is in fact available then, se definitely unsure if we are looking at him!!

  48. W.A.T.H says:

Emma, the manc game was on the other tv in the pub and Diame looked ok from what i saw with half an eye but he looks slow and lumbersome…!?!?! maybe due to not match fit but I am not sure on him…! Capoue or Sissoko for me I would say and just that presence gives us a stronger spine.

  49. emma says:

Valencia have reportedly come to an agreement with Celta Vigo striker, Iago Aspas over a five year contract, effective this summer, if Los Che are able to pay his €10 million release clause.
According to Valencia’s Cadena SER, Iago and Valencia president, Manuel Llorente reached the agreement for the star to join the club at the opening of the summer transfer window and the club has communicated their intentions with Celta Vigo, in hopes of reaching an amicable transfer agreement by meeting his buyout clause of €10 million.

Valencia, at the moment, don’t have the proper funding and will undoubtedly need to sell two or three players this summer in order to secure Aspas.

The club hopes to pay the transfer fee in June, in order to avoid additional taxes, which would increase the amount by almost 50%, to €14.8 million.

However, Aspas’ agent, his brother Jonathan Aspas has denied such a deal has taken place and claims to have no knowledge about the agreement.

  50. Scott from Oz says:

Emma, it seems “done deals” are the same the world over lol.
    Incredible how transfer rumours work.
    Thanks again.

  51. Scott from Oz says:

    M’Villa could be the guy.
He wants the PL,Rennes want to cash in, and QPR want him.
Why is it taking so long?
    Are we sniffing around?

  52. emma says:

    Good Read:

Klopp: Personally, when we played against Arsenal in London, I saw the best forward ever: Robin van Persie. I didn’t know a player could play three positions during 90 minutes. It was a great experience – and we want to use that now.” http://m.uefa.com/news/1911219/

  53. tsGH says:

Excellent as always Emma on keeping us informed, maybe we can start our own scouting agency together. 😉

WATH, I have never been sold on Diame but then again I am an AW sheeple so.. 😀 I always thought a player allowed to leave Wigan on the free was not special but…

The fact is he has played in this league for 3 or 4 years as a DM and was always someone who lost concentration periodically during games. He has improved as an attacking midfielder but I think it is more to do with a lot of teams playing Wenger style 4-2-3-1 without a true DM allowing him to pop up in good positions during matches. What I do like about him is that he seems to be a big game player.

WHU putting a £4M clause in his contract says it all folks..

  54. tsGH says:

Scott I am not sold on the M’vila of the last 1.5 years not because of his off field antics but the fact that he does not have the legs he had when he was 18/19 y.o

Emma may be able to add to it.

Personally I would go for LIAM Trotter of Millwall or the other lad at Brighton if we can not get Capoue.

  55. rockyrocastle07 says:

TS – Don’t let the value of the release clause fool you. He’s had a history of injuries. Ba only had a 7m release clause, and he’s got to be worh double that.

  56. Abubakari amadu moro says:

I love arsenal but all the time information will be giving we are buy this player but it will not happened, the media is make us happy but some time sad…

  57. Scott from Oz says:

    I’m off to bed.
    Have a great day guys.
I am sure i will wake up to news of a new signing…really i am 🙂

  58. Bradster says:

    Hi all,

Cavanni, Like wenger says that’s alot of money on one player. I still think we missed out on Sturridge and possibly a Wellbeck included in the RVP deal.
Anyway, I think Theo is not doing too badly for a 23 y.o striker. I remember RVP at his age missing a few but we didn’t worry because the game was won or better strikers available.
I’ve said before, walcott is not a great player but we won’t find someone experienced like him for 10m or less.

I think Coq played well in patches and at least made himself available for passes and returns.

I was most impressed with Gibbs control and dribbling.

    Afternoon Goonerdom worshippers,

Rico marvelous match report. Although I know from personal experience your hero appraisal can last as long as 3 minutes. Hahahaha.

I was impressed by Sagna’s night shift, really could have topped it of with that late second half belter.

Big 30mln signing, maybe its Bartley…… He nearly caused us a tense atmosphere early on.

Finally we where more graceful than the Swans. See the gripping story below

    http://www.utahbirds.org/featarts/2008/EagleAndSwan.htm

  63. allezkev says:

    Edison Cavani, yeah right…. 😆

Who on earth, dreams up these dopey rumours?

    Afternoon Gooners.
    Afternoon Rico/Wath, good post…

  64. tsGH says:

Totally agree DG… sagna has been immense in his last 2 appearances. Its amazing how all of a sudden he is beating the first man easily whilst 10 days ago he could hardly dribble or cross the ball.

I guess with Arsenal it is not in the heart but in the heads of most of our players. The New Age Guru needs replacing…lol

  65. allezkev says:

Yes Wath, I did miss the match. Matron was giving me a bath.
She is a very sturdy woman, with firm hands, but a gentle touch.

  66. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya Kev. I have to have some optimism. Lol
We’ve never signed a Uruguayan. Well I don’t think we have. Maybe someone could answer that.

  67. DutchGooner10 says:

    Ginge

Sagna should be offered a steeply improved deal this window. Imho

How did Bartley looked in the flesh? I’m yet to make up my mind but think he could return after a few seasons under his belt elsewhere. He was on the end of a high ball with physical presence again. Like the last match against Swans. Looks a real threat on set pieces and confident at the back, performing simple tasks with gusto.

  68. Les Naidoo says:

Please discontinue the emails for now. I am an Arsenal fan but very disappointed with the status quo. Mr Wenger goes about running the club for purely financial gains and I know that that is important. He refuses to act when its time to act such as now. We need NEW players to strengthen the weak side and compete and I cant see anything happening, other then cheap talk. Until something concrete happens ,please do not send me anything.

    Regards

    Les Naidoo

  69. allezkev says:

Wath, Matron has her eye on you too.

  70. tsGH says:

AW on his disciples move to Bavaria..

He asked me a few times and told me a few times he would like to come to England, so I am bit surprised he has chosen to go to Germany,” the 63-year-old said.

“Bayern Munich are an interesting club, Germany is an interesting league, well managed so it is defendable what he has done.

“I stayed here for such a long time because I feel this is the most interesting league in the world.

“I always encouraged him to come to England.”

However, the French boss does believe Guardiola made a smart choice with the future very much in mind.

“It is not a backward step,” he added. “In Germany, maybe along with Spain, they are a country with the best young players.

“If you look at the results of Germany in the Under-17s, U18s and U19s, in the last three seasons, they beat everybody.

DG, I always rated Bartley as a typical English CB. He is one of those who is poor on the ball and so needed time to learn how to play from the back as Kos or TV do. I noticed that Swansea did not play the ball through him at all.. Chico was used to start attacks.

What makes him stand out is that he has confidence in his ability and talks a lot during games. Another thing our defenders don’t seem to do often enough.

But then again, being a decent CB for a club not competing for anything apart from staying in the EPL is completely different to hearing the Erm faithful comparing you to Stepanovs or Senderos post his injury after every match…

The Erm crowd are a difficult bunch 😉 DEven yesterday some guys were moaning about the quality of Diaby and OG12 in the first half but ignoring the fact that JW10 has not hard a decent first half to a game since he got back…

The same guys calling for a beast in the middle of the park are probably the same guys who use to boo Gilberto because he was not similar to the 70’s Brazilians we use to see on our black and white boxes in the 80’s (at least my black and white TV set) 😀

Their guitarist was a songwriter and helped write Kylie Minoque’s ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’

Personally, I preferred Sweet. Cop this. A total football-chant-type song…

  74. SD London says:

    Wao we won !

Was surprised i must tell you, watching the highlights was good as well, we had a better shape and yes Diaby gives a better shape.

Wenger should buy somebody like him and use Diaby for only important games just like Spuds did with Ledley King for years.

Give it up for Wilshere, Giroud was busy allthrough, Walcot(he was thinking about the 100k , I dont blame him), Carzola was different as well(he had more room) even Mertesacker attacked like twice.

    Wenger got it right.

He didn’t have much money so the salesmen fitted him up with a big chicken under the bonnet, all went well until the harness broke and the chicken flew away, he called out the AA and the mechanic looked under the bonnet and said “sorry sir, but your big hens gone” Boom! Boom!

  90. DutchGooner10 says:

Fer from Twente FC hasn’t been the multipurpose midfield performer they predicted when transferred from Feyenoord. He’s been benched regularly this season. Most of the time Fer is accused of lacklustre focus and jogging around disengaged.

Van Ginkel from Vitesse haven’t seen him play. Will try to catch him when the winter interval ends in Holland. Promise to get back on him.

  91. goonster says:

hiya fellas…was jack the lad class last night or what? wilshere>all manure, shity and chelshit mid fielders combined. i dare any naysayers to differ. what a second half he had. totally bossed the mid field, all alone! can’t wait for the next game. in wenger i trust! lol.

  94. Adam says:

Hi all. I had a lovely day at the boat show courtesy of that fine gentleman Lee. But I am afraid Mrs Adam abused the champagne hospitality provided and blotted her copy book while looking around a £4 million Sunseeker.
She appears in court at 10am tomorrow.

  95. rockyrocastle07 says:

Was that at the Excel Adam? My bosses went there yesterday under the guise of going to see the compant that Lee works for! Cheeky bastards!

  96. W.A.T.H says:

It’s all a con to get pissed Rock……
Best you make her walk the plank later Adam…. Dodgy woman..!

All good here Stanley you ok..?

  97. Adam says:

No yard arm but she armed herself with 2 empty champagne bottles and while munching a Tuna wrap she took on the several police officers it took to bring her under control. It was a really shocking scene.

  98. rockyrocastle07 says:

Adam… My boss mentioned there were 2 Pagani Zonda’s there (he said something about mother of pearls…..)

  99. Adam says:

Rico. They recognised my overt and somewhat disturbing camp affectation and directed me to a pink cruiser. The people on the stand kept saying “Hello sailor” to me. It seems that Lee had marked their card and told them I drive a white car.

  100. rockyrocastle07 says:

What a mental image that is Adam! I can only assume the whole tuna wrap was in her mouth, half hanging out, while waving a bottle in each hand! I trust you wiped your mouth of it, sat back on a comfy seat on the boad, grabbed a glass of champagne, and let the police try and tame her!

  101. rockyrocastle07 says:

It’s that feminine quality you have Adam….. Plus the tattoo of Squillaci…. Just drives the fellas wild!

  102. Adam says:

Rocky. It sounds like you were there as that is an uncannily accurate description of the whole sickening event.

  103. Adam says:

Rocky. As I move my mighty torso against the rock that is my right bicep, the tatoo rears up as I said, in a grotesque mounting motion. I will show you when we next meet.

  104. rockyrocastle07 says:

Watched it on Youtube Adam! No Van Outen? I heard yesterday she had a stall that specialized in AW. D.

  105. rockyrocastle07 says:

Well after I’ve eaten please Adam…. Before will put me off my food, and after may cause me to see it again…

  106. rico says:

  109. rico says:

Adam did you check out Azimut yachts? Italian beauty personified. Sound like you dressed up JP Gaultier stylish – androgen. Hello Sailor 🙂

  111. G00NERS!!! says:

    Hi,

This is my first time posting on this site.
Just wanted to say I totally agree that if we were to spend 100m like chavski did any team in europe would fear us.If (and this is a big if we did have 100m to spend and the board would let wenger spend it.) Then I think we’d need to purchase in the following positions.

DM – Preferably a player like fellini (23m if this buy out clause rumour is to be believed) or Fernando Reges at Porto who would probably cost in the region of around 15m.

2CB’s (one who can cover at lb): Sakho (15m) and Jagielka (10m)

    A versatile winger: Muniain (20m)

Striker: Carvani would be a dream at 30m or alterativly Llorente for a cheap option or El Shaarawy.

Either way with the more expensive option of fellini thats 93m still less than chavski spent =)

  112. Adam says:

DG. I saw so many today but I don’t remember those. I was disappointed there was only one Riva as I always liked those wonderful things.

  113. Lee says:

I have a disciplinary meeting tomorrow at work, it seems that there was some graffiti daubed on £4m Sunseeker.

  114. Adam says:

    DG. Wow…
Lee. I did tell you not to lay on that champagne for Mrs Adam. In vino Veritas. Throw in a few Tuna wraps and we’re in dangerous territory.

  115. Lee says:

There is some footage of the whole sordid escapade, apparently the C.E.O of our company recorded it in total disbelief!!!

  116. Adam says:

Lee. That is the nightmare scenario isn’t it. I think they may well unify and morph into a powerful fighting machine that, tooled up, could be truly formidable.

  117. DutchGooner10 says:

Quantity seem to give the story legs Adam, I would categorize it as 4 paws. Dog cojones. Probably a false wet nose trail. Sending the pack on a roundabout.

  118. Adam says:

Lee. I stopped in at Tescos today to see if I could try their burgers but they had sold out. So I bought some of their meatballs. Apparently they’re the dogs bollox.

  119. rico says:

I’m off for the day people. Sore throat, aching bones and a bit of a headache!!

    Typical!

Night all, have a good one…..

  120. DutchGooner10 says:

If true we will hear the panic buy bullshit though Adam. Also I fear one player in could prove insufficient challenging for 3rd spot. His massive buyout fee runs the risk of that becoming reality.

I would like a DM signed as well to double up with either Diaby or Arteta. Worked in our favour last night.

    BTW I miss Micko.

  121. W.A.T.H says:

Only 1952 hits short of 4million… Not bad for two and a half years…! Well done Rico the 4 mill mark is bound to go through the night…!

  122. DutchGooner10 says:

Evening WATH / Scott / Kev

  123. DutchGooner10 says:

Nite all. Hope someone is working overtime still printing contracts in our marble hall and calls for a cab…… Kev do your worst till they spill the beans.

    Lata folks.

  124. willow says:

Lets not get carried away we played average and
lets not forget we could not have played any worse than
usual sure they all have to be fit cause they were
all scratching their holes most of the season still
need loads of players and does anyone know any
players that were sold for 30million and paid less
than 100 grand a week no either have i it will
be another 1or two million for a first division player

  125. The BearMan says:

What I would very much like to see Wenger doing is rotating his squad. Diaby has just returned from injury and if Wenger plays him every game, it would not be long before he would require treatment.

The same could be said about Wilshere, he is playing brilliantly some times carrying the team with desire/hunger. But he is taking to many knocks and with games so close a clever manager would allow another squad member to shoulder the weight and allow Jack rest time.

Coquelin on the other hand needs more games to retain his sharpness. This lad has bags of talent, but having him on the bench for weeks will not do his development any good, nor would we benefit by his contributions. Players loose heart when they are stock on the bench for a long time and what is the point of keeping a player if you are not going to use him.

What do Wenger really mean by “Spending Big”? Carvani and Messi he likes so do all of us, but will he suddenly take a flutter??? Nah!!!

  126. allezkev says:

Scott/Dutch, Cavani, Falcao, Villa, Mbwia, Uncle Tom Cobbley, none of them are going to happen…

Transfer Windows are just 31 days of bullshit, lies, agent spin, greed, newpaper crap, TalkRubbish rubbish, Wenger garbage, Gazides garbage, and empty promises of jam tomorrow.
Tbh I find them rather boring…

And why is Jack shooting his mouth off about Chelsea???
Why is he doing Benitez’s team talk for him???
Good grief, where is the common sense?
Players are so so dumb at times….

  127. bill says:

No Way Will Arsenal Ever Break The Bank for Cavani , When Was The Last Time you See Wenger Spend 30 – 45 Million On One Player , he spent that on 3 players with Carzola , Poldolski , Giroud .
