Well if the media is to be believed we have made an offer of less than Β£20 million for Alexis Sanchez…..
Two things jump out here, firstly are Arsenal really so tight and naive to think we can honestly expect to buy a player of that quality for that amount of money knowing full well other clubs must know he is available and will come in and offer way more than that.
He is young, has his best years ahead of him yet apparently we offer less than what we got for Purstrings who only had a year left on his contract.
If this is indeed true it’s no surprise that we miss out on buying quality players.
For me I think the reported offer is rubbish, barca still owe us money from the Song transfer and money from the Cesc sale, maybe the cash being quoted is an up front amount and we waiver what barca owe us..? there is no way surely even our board would not value Sanchez as a Β£30 million pound striker, the man is clearly star quality and class.
We know full well the media love to portray Arsenal as tight and unwilling to pay the going rate but if that’s the case how come we signed OΕΎil..? I think the club know full well his value and they also know we need that kind of striker leading the line. The papers have no idea what we have offered am sure we didn’t send Fleet Street a generic email with what we have offered Barca so as usual it’s made up nonsense unless of course it’s a leak from Barca trying to push up the price merely by leaking part of the amount discussed and to instigate an auction scenario which would obviously suit them as they want to generate funds for their purchase of the gnasher from the dippers.
We are also told this morning by various papers that we have signed Debuchy from Newcastle and the deal will be announced after the WC, well it’s feasible as we have lost Sagna but would the deal be able to be kept quiet for so long and why would neither party announce it’s been done? Makes no sense does it.
We are at the time of the season where each day brings up a different story and we have to either take the stories with a pinch of salt or get all pent up over our perceived lack of action so far in the transfer window, I say wait a while before we moan about what’s going on and see who we have bought by the end of July.

So are we at it again and offering pennies instead of pounds of is the Β£19 mil just part of the package offered. We can’t surely be so stupid to think they would accept that amount even if paid upfront and gift wrapped. Not when the dippers want silly money for the gnasher.

I think Sanchez would fit in at Arsenal very well, as would Jackson Martinez and dare I say it Balotelli. But I do feel that the Debuchy deal should be stopped right now-surely Aurier offers much better value.
I think it’s a smart offer.. 25mn euros… If they have more expectation they will come back to us asking more… 30mn euros not more than that for this player.. we can get better than Sanchez for 35mn euros..

The player told us he would move this summer last August, Barca transfer listed him in May at a respectable fee of Β£25M; we must have been in talks with Barca in relation to Cesc clause…
At that time RM were clear favourites according to the media for Suarez even though I suspected that it will be Barca who he will end up with LS07 as I said then that James was on RM’s list…
Why did we not finalise a deal before the world cup? Even if Alexis had played badly for Chile or gotten injured it was still worth the money and risk imho..
Now Barca would want more than the Β£25M irrespective of what they original said he was worth…
Liverpool also think with their qualification for UCL they can match us since we still have to qualify…

IWe all agree the transfer strategy really needs looking at..
Β£14M or Β£15M would have captured cabaye last summer which could have gotten us at least 5 extra points which would have meant no need to qualify in August for UCL football. He is exactly what we needed last summer. Yes he was approaching 30 but he could play 4 or 5 positions perfectly. That Flamini money should have gone to cabaye but as always we play it safe in the short term..
We now have pay at least Β£20M for a player of the quality of Morgan or Sammi…
As things stand I suspect we won’t make any major signings until UCL qualification draw is known or guaranteed…
Why spent Β£30M on a player if we could end up missing out on Β£25M UCL place they must be thinking… π

This does make sense…Arsenal were speaking to Madrid all summer about Higuain, Benzema, Di Maria only to end up with a highly over priced Mesut Ozil.
My guess is that the Board are happy to spend but Wenger seems reluctant to pay above what he sees the value of the player being.
