Deal done and another close! Mikel Arteta catches the bug….

Morning all.

This is the best group of players in terms of numbers and quality that we have had for many, many years. –  the captain told the Arsenal Weekly podcast.

The unity we have is really good as a group. The cohesion we have around the club and with the fans is probably the closest it has been because we had periods when we had difficult times and things weren’t breaking down between anyone.

When you go through difficult moments together, that really helps to get where you want to get to afterwards. We haven’t broken in difficult moments and that is very important. I am really confident in this group – if we maintain it and start adding little things in the next few years then we have a very strong team and club.

What is it about the words ‘cohesion and unity’? Arsene Wenger uses them frequently and it seems the captain has heard them so often, he’s repeating them, they all do and that’s probably because that’s what they truly believe.

We are quite lucky really (and the manager has to take credit for that) as Arsenal do seem to have a happy group of players. We don’t have the problems Chelsea have, we don’t have a ‘Balotelli’ in the squad, our players aren’t getting up to any naughtiness off the pitch these days and even Jack had a quiet summer away from football, so all appears to be rosy from the outside.

Arteta is right about ‘adding a few things’ and that doesn’t necessarily mean players, although we need a couple of those before 1st September, tighter defending, more clinical in front of goal and a few more crosses for Ollie to convert. Surprise the opposition by not always playing the same way too as over the years we’ve been a bit too predictable and when the bus is parked, we can’t find the key.

I think that’s called moving forward…..

Talking of moving, Wellington Silva has gone on loan to Bolton. Gedion Zelalem was expected to head off for a loan spell with Rangers but apparently Fulham, Charlton and Birmingham City all want him too so he could stay in England.

We’ll struggle to field a League Cup side at the rate our loans are going…..

As for the gossip page headlines.

Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra is concerned that reported Arsenal target Grzegorz Krychowiak could leave the club before the summer transfer window shuts, with several teams said to be considering paying his €30 million release clause.

Go on Arsene, do it…..

As for the striker, well Benzema is done, Cavani is close to signing too and even Ibra could become a Arsenal player……..

Ok, I know, you’re bored now…

Have a good Wednesday….

Bored? That is an understatement. Pissed off more likely.

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

That is quite a good post. In ‘cohesion’ withthe rest of the daily posts. And our posts are usually in ‘cohesion’ with what you post. 😉

Thought there’d be a signing to talk about by now… lol

Adam Lallana reckons the Dippers have a game plan to beat us on Monday…

  3. rogerbij says:

Im sure the dippers have a game plan. Play better than their last two games or they will find themselves on the end of a 3-0 hiding!

I just do a quick browse on NN and see same old rubbish. I guess by now that even the journos should be bored with what they write.

Right now there is a queue near the door at London Colney.

    There is Cavani knocking.

Behind him there is Benzema with his luggage.

Then Krychowiak is next in line.

The Bender twins are seen holding hands like school children in the line.

Kroos is trying to push those in front of him.

Lew and Dowski are arguing who should go in before the other.

Muller is putting on his make up to have an Assassin’s look.

At the back Kev is doing some stretching due to having sore back and hammies after doing around 9 trips between London Colney, Heathrow airport and back. I dont know why but his hands are going round in circles like someone doing Tai Chi training moves. must be an imaginary stearing wheel.

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Rico – Bored? I was bored weeks ago, of the transfer window and it’s accompanying lies and rumours that is, not the House postings. Now I’m just resigned to whoever the club does or doesn’t sign. I’ll have a look see on Arsenal.com in 10-11 days.

Our cohesive little group here, are unified in our desire for Arsene and Arsenal to sign two or three top-top players. Generally accepted to be a forward/striker, a DM/HM and possibly another CB. M. Wenger make it so!

  7. Canadian Gooner says:

bumba11 – Ah! NB52, truly a legend in his own mind. Unfortunately not in anyone else’s, other than his father’s that is. It took Arsene and the club more than enough time to move the court jester/fool/village idiot (take your pick) out the door. i hardly think he would be welcomed back, unless he buys his own ticket to a seat in the stands.

  8. Canadian Gooner says:

This will be a make or break season for many of the Young Guns. I can’t recall when we have had so many young players out on loan.

So far, it appear that most, if not all, of them will get some regular playing time. That should help Arsene separate the sheep from the goats. They’ll have to look sharp after the large intake of scholars into the Academy this summer.

  9. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico- “I love the transfer window, the way the media makes up stories can only be laughed at…” I’m sure the commercial media could ave a lot of money by hiring some bright young school children to write the transfer stories. They couldn’t do much worse than than the Fleet Street hacks. Better yet a troupe of chimps and a dart board. Then we wouldn’t be flooded with all those vavuous sound bites from the likes of the Merseyside Moron, one Mr. Michael Owen, and his ilk.

  10. scottfromoz says:

I can honestly say I have absobloodylutely no clue as to who we may sign, but everything points to new arrivals.
    Giroud…..Coquelin.
Both do a very, very good job, in my opinion.
Both will benefit, as will the entire club, from Wenger signing a new DM, and a new striker.
They can be different types of players and should be, to suit different opponents.
    Wenger will do the business.
    (Or else lol )

  11. Hell Raising Devil says:

yesterday I put forward the idea that we should buy a club in a European league. Spain, Italy or France. imo they should contact UEFA to see it is possible. This would mean that our club can compete in that league but would be ommitted from European cups. imagine Arsenal buy a club in Spain and it goes all the way up to the Primera. that would help our club. Especially if they have to play Barca, RM, Atletico etc.

yes the league would be a tad slower but more technical and tactical.

Still, a feeder club which reaches the Championship (Div 1) would be more beneficial to us.

  12. scottfromoz says:

I’m the wrong this question up, with no idea of the validity, or the answer.
Could Wengers late business this TW benefit us this time around?
That’s assuming he does some, of course.
The reason I ask is I’ve seen more panic buys this time around than ever before by some of the big clubs, and the window has had s funny feel about it, in my eyes, at least.
Massive names are getting thrown around as being available, as well, and most of the big clubs seem unsettled.
Could there be some late bargains to be had, and I don’t mean average players, I mean t class guys.
    Thoughts?

  13. allezkev says:

Interesting, the rumour of Arsenal enquiring about the availability of Lewandowski and Muller from Bayern…

Still two weeks to go before the window closes…

  14. Canadian Gooner says:

Scott – I still think Arsenal will buy a player or two for the senior team. Many clubs have high debt levels and must balance their books or sell before they can buy, including Real Madrid (est. 500 million euros or pounds?). Is this part of the reason that UEFA loosened the FFP rules?

So far, I think there have been many panic buys, with clubs paying the initial asking prices and over the odds to get the player(s) they think they need. Is there any of last season’s first team players still at Liverpool FC?

We all know Arsene does not like to or refuses to pay more than his valuation for a player. We’ll just have to wait and see if any of our transfer targets clubs blink first and are willing to sell at Arsene’s valuations. It could also mean that we may not sign any other players this TW.

  15. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – There have been a number of similar quotes of high praise from the mangers of other clubs about the Arsenal loanees for their teams (e.g. Steve Bruce about Chuba Akpom). It bodes well for our young player’s development, as it seems they are going to be regular first team players rather than emergency back-ups.

It will be very interesting next summer to see who, out of that group of young players, stays and who goes. I’m sure that is why Arsene extended TR7’s and MA8’s contracts; so that there are fewer or no one blocking those young players progress into the senior team.

  16. rico says:

Yes Cg, I’ve seen them and as you say, it’s all sounds really good. Keep their heads down work hard and they’ll have a future with us hopefully. Not all, but certainly a few…

  17. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – Olive? I don’t think they make contact lenses that powerful. She couldn’t find her own arse, far less a football, without her glasses.

  18. Lee says:

Chelsea win the league add players, citeh come second add players we come third add Cech and ship out loads of players…..something has got to give, surely?

  19. Gdna says:

Good post rico. Arsenal is the only EPL club not to sign an outfield player. Gokhan Inler just sign for Leicester City, show how much the bottom teams are strengthening.

  20. Wavy says:

    Mmm. I wonder???????
    TH14 to re-sign until Christmas?
    Did we want Pedro?………………………………..No
    Did we ever consider Otamendi?………………No
Look at my face………are we bothered?……..No!
Do we want a couple of new signings?………………….Yes!
Do we really care who they are?………………..No!

We all need a couple of new faces to raise our already flagging morale!…………..yes?

Mind you the perplexed pigmy has only bought Pedro out of spite! Because he can! He’s flaunting his puny bully’s power! Showing off to the football ‘family’ that he really does have control! Even when he hasnt! And maybe he’s cocking a snoot at both Wenger, for his seeming inertia in the TW, Cech excepted (still stuck in his throat, that one!) and LVG because he sees manure as viable team capable of finishing fourth pushing the chavs into fifth!

And a very good afternoon to everybody.

  21. bradster says:

    Hi All,

Mourinho’s dealings reminds me of the movie The Italian Job. Where they all say what they want to do with their share of the gold and Edward Norton says he doesn’t know, he’ll have one of each of what they’re selling.

No imagination, just spend the money, first Pedro and now I see they’re in for Lacazette as was the case when we wanted Hazard, Mata and Cahill.

  22. Micko says:

Seems it’s official, cohesion is the new mental strength ! Could be like a new signing.

    Afternoon folks.

  26. Joaquim moreira says:

I’m abroad and i didn’t watched last match. I knew the score,Cesh again. Coquelin could be sent off…and i’ve register the game.
    No new signs.
    But Cavanni? Ibra? Please no!

  27. Micko says:

At least we knew where we stood when we were in ManUre’s boots, you remember the 4th placed trophy days when quality players wouldn’t sign on the dotted line when CL was guaranteed, what a load of bollox !

Fooking Arsene and his white surrender flag !!!

  28. Lee says:

Pedro is a diving fucker no? That’ll explain his choice to move to that classless shithouse club….fit right in!

  29. Lee says:

Wenger obviously doesn’t fancy him Rico….. bit like putting Walcott on £140k pw to warm the bench, odd no?
