Club agree Fee for Denilson as One in…..

A free taxi to the airport a free flight to Iran and apparently coming the other way the board are receiving One tin of caviar each as payment.

A board member said ” we think we’ve got a great deal and he leaves with our blessing…!”

Rumours are Arsene Wenger has been locked in his Office since the board informed him and he has only requested a box of hankies and a quiche…………

Ok, it’s Friday and thankfully tomorrow see’s the battle for the Premier League title hit the final stage. We have just nine games left to play and should we muster up enough grit, determination and attitude to win those remaining fixtures, the league title will be ours.

It’s a tough run in, despite many suggesting it’s an easier one than those around us but to be honest we haven’t done ourselves proud recently really have we?

We had our chance when we played Sunderland and West Brom, had we taken that chance we would be one point behind the Mancs with a game in hand, in fact had we taken previous chances we would be well clear and odds on favourites to win the league.

We didn’t and I actually don’t expect us to string nine wins together now either.

One player has had his critics this season, actually, many have but Gael Clichy has been given a tough time by many fans. His game seems to have gone backwards, his decision-making has sometimes been poor and often when the easiest thing to do is hoof the ball into row z, he’s tried to dribble past players, all too often losing possession with the opposition on occasion, capitalising on his mistake.

The gaff to gift the Spuds still sticks in my throat, why, why not row z?

So much is made of him being the last man standing from our invincible season but that means zero right now.

Why has his game gone off at a time in his career when he should be pushing on and trying to become one of the best left backs in the world? What has changed?

When a player’s game goes off the boil, the first thing I think is that they are no longer happy.

Is he unhappy at home, unhappy in England, or just like us, unhappy at seeing certain players in the same team as him?

Does he think that Cesc is soon to leave, Nasri won’t extend his contact and he doesn’t want to be left at Arsenal?

Of course I don’t know the answers, I don’t even know if I’m right in believing he’s unhappy but something is definitely amiss with his game. I used to believe he would be nearly as good as Ashley Cole but right now he is nowhere near as good as him.

I can't believe the Chavs couldn't afford the letters 'RSE to go after the A'....

There is a strong rumour that Gael Clichy could be leaving us this summer, he himself has said that he won’t discuss his contract until the end of the season, Nasri has said the same.

The club after him and who are supposed to be preparing a £13Million bid is Juventus and reports are that their club director, Fabio Paratici, has already been in London and tried to finalise a move for the summer.

Is Clichy playing the waiting game to see who Wenger brings in or are his playing days in the red and white shirt coming to an end?

Would you care if Gael Clichy left in the summer?

Prior to the international break, I kept suggesting that it was the ideal time for the squad – hoping that by the time Blackburn come to visit, many of our injured will be fit to return. Yesterday Arsene Wenger confirmed that Alex Song, Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott are all fit to play on Saturday – Aaron Ramsey and Robin van Persie are due a late fitness test but it is believed they too will be fit.

So they are back andwe are into the business end of the season, all we need is just nine wins to win the league – tomorrow will tell us all just how much this side are prepared to fight for that….

I hope each and every player spent time watching and reading all the tributes to Rocky yesterday, if just one little bit of what they saw in him rubs off on them tomorrow then we may just see a good performance, a winning performance but most importantly a performance that shows every Arsenal fan that they are proud to play for our club, proud to wear the club shirt and proud to play for and with their team-mates…..

Come on Arsenal, give us a reason to believe in you again…..

Oh, I do know Diaby is fit, I just don’t want him to start… ok?

There is no truth whatsoever in the Denilson story, it is purely fun for April Fools Day 🙂

That’s it from me for today, have a good un …..

    VdV comment of the season

“The fact I’m not linked with top clubs does not matter to me. I don’t intend to leave Spurs after a year.

    😛

  2. W.A.T.H says:

Rico………………. I was soooooooooooooo excited when I saw the headline………..! I think even Tehran United would baulk at paying a tin of caviar for Denilson…!

  3. Rocastle says:

Yeah. He’s good for ball retention, that’s about it. He’s at least 5th in the pecking order (my opinion, not Wengers) I think he’d be suited to the French league, or back to south America.

  4. Will says:

Just to see what you guys think.

Do you think players go downhill as they can hear the fans on their back and they are trying to please them?

  5. rico says:

Mourinho has even admitted he’d consider going back to his beloved Stamford Bridge if Roman Abramovich asked him directly.

But there is another club which it would make sense for Mourinho to take over, but is never mentioned.

They boast a brilliant stadium, a stable set-up, some fantastic and talented players and haven’t won any silverware for years. Surely Mourinho would be perfect for Arsenal?

You can just imagine the feisty Portuguese ‘manager-of-war’ restoring them to their former glory.

Arsene Wenger has done a marvellous job at the Gunners, but finally the club’s fans are starting to question the

    Frenchman’s future and philosophy.

And with Mourinho possibly available this summer, it could be the perfect time to sever the cord.

Wenger has never wanted to buy big to complement his wonderful youth policy, but Mourinho is the man for the job.

He’d have no problem in bringing proven stars to the Emirates while nurturing the talent already there.

The former Inter Milan boss is inspirational and his voice is one that could do with being heard in the home dressing room at the Emirates.

Wenger has created a dynasty, but it is one which has now failed too many times.

Arsenal have a perfect structure for Mourinho to step into and you can’t imagine him taking that long to get the trophies flowing again.

The controversial boss wants to create his own legacy at a club in the way that Fergie has done at United. Arsenal could be the perfect vehicle for him.

Wenger has talked about it being time for him to change his tactics and recruitment policy. But can he?

Perhaps not. He has been stuck in his ways for far too long now.

If it is a fresh start that Arsenal are looking for, then Mourinho must surely be their man.

The idea has continually been ignored and not even considered properly, but the pair just seem an ideal match.

The money is available to transform the club and Mourinho is the man to spend it.

  6. charybdis1966 says:

Hi Rico, sorry but we’ve got NINE games left to play.

But from someone who made Avenell homeless due to losing a bet about Cesc’s presence this season it doesn’t surprise me.

Only kidding darling, you know I love you really ! 😉

  7. Aziz, KL=Malaysia says:

Here the best news of all: “Denilson is the only certain absentee for Rovers’ visit after being ruled out with a toe injury.” … (Long may it be so)

  8. goonerwife says:

some people need to invest in a good ol human heart. Just mean.
And moureen, his values are not really arsenal values. If you want moureen i have a feeling arsenal might not really be the best club for you anymore.

I have realised lately that maybe arsenal doesnt fit the sensibility of some of its fans anymore, its okay to find a better match, i think.

  9. Will says:

I agree Goonerwife. We dismantle everything we have come to stand for if we bring in a guy who spends £100m a summer, is happy to win 1-0 and 2-0 and bore his way to the league while taking all the focus off the players and placing the spotlight on himself.

  10. rico says:

goonerwife, i’m not sure its a good thing to suggest to fans that arsenal is no longer their club??

the piece was just a copied form a newspaper report for bloggers to read…

  11. rico says:

    Will,

many fans have said Arsene is weak, he won’t spend, he plays and buys rubbish players etc etc..

    Moanrinho wouldn’t do that…

Do we want to stay the same, or do we want AFC to be winning again??

I’m not a fan of JM either but i’m also rapidly not becoming a fan of Arsene Wenger….

  12. rico says:

I’m not saying i want him at Arsenal Will, can’t stand the over egoed idiot but that is the problem….

Any manager that took over from Wenger wouldn’t be able to carry on with the same budget, they would demand money and buy instant success….

Whether that be Moanrinho or A N Other… The only ones that wouldn’t would be clones of Wenger…

  13. W.A.T.H says:

We’re not the kind of club who would let Maureenyo bankrupt us Will, I can’t stand him as a man BUT am thinking he’s just what we need. Any that thinks we’re the Arsenal of old is sadly mistaken, we were once The Arsenal now we’re just a football business and thats what they have made it and thats why we are merely customers, if thats all we are then what we once stood for means very little these days, get in Mourinho and lets get this club back to winning ways, all we need is a manager to spend whats available not put it in the bank to look good on a statement.

  14. Will says:

I agree they would spend but look at Jose’s track record.

We would go back to the GG era of 1-0 to The Arsenal but spend £100m a year to get it.

  15. rico says:

I understand what you are saying Will, but the players we already have won’t stop scoring, well, nikki won’t ever start 😉

But, all we need is our defence made right, if that’s all he did, he’d make us winners – If wenger could just do that he would too…

I just want Wenger to get his head out of the sand and make us great again, will he?? I don’t know…

  16. Will says:

Look at the strikers Jose has had but he plays a defensive game where it is better to not lose rather than win.

As much as I am frustrated with Wenger, if Arsenal had one person like Dein to inspire and control Wenger, we would start winning everything.

  17. rico says:

    Will,

Thats why i keep calling for wenger to change, why we all do…

All he needs to do is sort out our defence and buy us a goal scorer…

Everyone can see it, if someone takes over from him they won’t hesitate to sort our problems out….

  18. Erick says:

Will, you what is frustrating to have a team have two shots on goal against us and they both are goals where we have 10 with only one goal…I would go for one nil and win the league

  19. rico says:

    Erick, all fab thanks, you?

would’t we love to have two shots on goal = two goals, jeepers, we can’t manage two goals when we have 20+ chances 😉

  20. Erick says:

Am great Ric’s…to be honest if Aw does not do the necessary please let Jose come in..I hate his ego but his CV can’t be wrong he is a winner

  21. Erick says:

Rico, I have this feeling that AW wont answer the fans call..but am usually wrong but its not long until we can hear his plans for the closed season

  22. rico says:

He has hinted he’s ready to buy Erick – the Daily Star suggest that anyway and they seem to be the clubs paper…

like you say, not long to go and we’ll find out…

hope you are wrong about diaby….

  23. rico says:

    Georgakos,

Nah, i just live in hope that for once he might be right…

I believe nothing about AFC until the website announce something but at some stage something has to change…..

  24. Georgakos says:

I would hate to see Mourinho at Arsenal. I’m sorry but I hope that Arsenal become successful emulating Barcelona not Chelsea.

  25. rico says:

He wouldn’t be my first choice either, in fact i could think of many before having to settle for him – what i hope for is that wenger suddenly abandons half of his project youth and makes it projcet here and now, the right mix will make us world beaters….

Out a few and bring a few, thats all most ask…

  26. W.A.T.H says:

I think it’s horses for course and if mourinho came in we would not become like chelsea at all we’d get a defender or two which we all agree we need and we’d get a fighting mentality and the kids would not be wrapped in cotton wool, more like a perform or your out…! Isn’t that whats needed..?

  27. Jay says:

I think you signed the worst Brazilian in history , gotta be pissed about that espiecially seeing as Chelsea and Spurs have David Luiz and Sandro……Ramires and Gomes added to that even Lucas at Liverpool pisses on Denilson

  28. Joaquim Moreira says:

The dream for Mourinho is Liverpool!
Clichy was also the player who lost the ball on the personal initiative doomed to failure that allowed the WBA launch abolished for the front and Almunia Squillaci and a hindrance to goal ….There goes another opportunity to get together MU. (however, Clichy is for me one of ours best players)
In my country it is said that “no two without three ..” and that “third time’s the charm. ”
    Would !!!…

  29. rico says:

Ji JM, cant see him going there now that King kenny has his feet under the table… guess he wants to get one over rafa…

I like Clichy too but he is very error prone these days, i think there maybe some truth to the Juve interest…

  30. Erick says:

I have heard the Clichy talk guys but the big question should be is Gibbs ready? no yet i think

  31. rico says:

I don’t think he’s ready either Erick but maybe Botelho will be if he gets his visa, he’s doing pretty well on loan….

  32. Joaquim Moreira says:

No Rico. Mourinho has always the dream of Liverpool. He said that in an interview. Later, he would like to finish his carreer in Portugal national team.

  33. Erick says:

Rico I haven’t heard alot about him so can’t comment…RM Jose is just after splashing the cash..Will am sure many would go for him but Barca won’t let him go

  34. Steve Palmer says:

Afternoon all, Denilsons got a bad toe then, shame.
I was in the pub lunch time, and guess who came in you will never believe it Jose himself, he was on his own, but looked like he was waiting for someone, so i went up to the bar and ordered my Lager top, Jose turned round and gave me a strange look, he said Lager top whats that, i looked at him and made out i didn’t recognise him, Oh just a dash of leomonade i said, boys drink, he said, now i’m standing there in my old Arsenal top and just sneered and said yep, and went to walk away, he tugged my arm and with that big grin of his said i joke ha ha. Anyway we started talking and he told me who he was, i said yeh i think i remember you, he said, It hadnt been too long, i said, i’m only interested in Arsenal, he then dropped a bombshell, I ave beenina talk with Arsenal Board, he said yeh i went, they want to ask me to coach, he said, well i was gobsmacked, what about Wenger i blurted out, him not wanted at club, he said. I was just about to ask him if he had accepted their offer, when a very young foreign feller come in, and walked up to Jose and Gave him a big tongue french kiss, i thought to my self i’m off, not to keen on all that business, as i walked away he said come back more to the story ,i tel you, i said you keep your story to yourself you Poof and walked out, nothing worse than hearing things like that on April the 1st

  35. W.A.T.H says:

That’s just really really bad Steve………. Now go stand in the corner til Rico says your allowed back…!

  36. Steve Palmer says:

All jokes aside, i have been mulling over Mourhino as a replacement for Wenger, whoever you talk to seems to go along with the idea of an ex Arsenal man. My view is that we need somthing completely different from that, new ideas and a manager who can move our club to winning ways, i have watched the ways our present Manager has conducted his business for quite a few years now, and believe he has run out of ideas, granted he has brought about change inside the club for the better, and i admire that, but on the pitch he’s choices have been an embaressment, if the team needs change as we all know we do, and he persists with he’s frugal ways he must be pushed aside, change him and a new man will give us all belief.

  37. Will says:

He would take us back to the 1-*0 to the Arsenal days
He would bankrupt us within two seasons leaving nothing for the next manager
He would leave when the money ran out claiming anything we won was down to his specialness.

He is an odious little man.

  38. agirlagunner says:

Boo! rico, poor Deni, so unloved. 😛 Oh, and you know how I feel about keeping Clichy. 😉

  39. rico says:

He won’t manage Arsenal anyway Will, not after all he has said about the club….

Hi agag, not sure if he is as under-loved as Diaby though 😉

  40. Will says:

    Bit of Friday fun.

I am watching an old Arsenal DVD and it got me thinking, what would an all Wenger first team look like (with subs)

    For me it would be:

    GK: Seaman
    RB: Lauren
    CB’s: Adams, Campbell
    LB: Cole

    RM: Overmars
    CM’s: Vieira, Petit
    LM: Pires

    AT: Henry, Bergkamp.

Subs. Lehmann, Sagna, Keown, Parlour, Fabregas, Wright, Van Persie.

This is with all the players in their prime.

    What say you?

  41. agirlagunner says:

Steve, your 2:48 was baaaad. 😛

I’ve given up on D&D, rico. I just want them out… But gael, I still hold out some hope for. 😀

  42. rico says:

Overmars was a leftie Will and I’d rather Sagna than Lauren in the first eleven…

Poss even go for Cesc with Paddy instead of Petit….

But, i’d also want Merson in there too…

    Tough call isn’t it…

  43. Will says:

Merse left soon after Wenger got there.

I think Lauren gives a tad more steel defensively than Sagna and was a tad harder but they are close. I went for Petit as that is a formidable centre and spine.

Imagine being an attacking team, you have the ball in your own half and you see: Vieira, Petit, Adams, Campbell and big Dave in front of you.

  44. rico says:

He was still there Will 😉

Like i say its a tough call, bit like Adams with Keown or Campbell?

We have had some great players under wenger though, may summer see us bring in some more…

  45. Joaquim Moreira says:

I do not agree with you. Mourinho is a winner, is a psychological warrior, both good players in teams, preparing them in his image, urging them the will to win and especially want players who want to win, win titles and be winners. Not moved aside, but illustrious players who do not join the spa, consider themselves untouchable and indispensable. He arrived at Chelsea and won. In Inter. Before Porto. Wanted titles and he gave them. But that he chose the players and the team. Know someone who worked with him say it wrong?
In my opinion, Real Madrid went for the only coach who has won in recent years with Barcelona. Notice the following: last year, the RM was 6 points of Barcelona. Auditors fast: it lost the two games with Barcelona. With the stars with a good coach and have not gained anything. This year we are in the Cup final, are in the quarter finals of the CL and fight for the championship. Can lose the championship, Mourinho leave, but at least we got something they did not know for years. 5 years without winning anything!
Compare for example with the MCity. Chelsea made the leap because of Mourinho (promised in the title two years and gave them in the first). It has many faults but it is a winner and a great leader of men. Guide them to success.

  46. Will says:

JM, the Chelsea team had already had over £100m spent on then and Jose spent a further £100m to buy the title.

Tell me, if he were so good, could he get Wigan, with the financial ability into a Champions League place?

  47. rico says:

Guys and Gals, got to go for the day – night out for me

Be good all and catch up tomorrow…

    Nighty 🙂

  48. Joaquim Moreira says:

Will: Was the price to pay to stop being a neighborhood club and become a club with supporters around the world. It was a risk but it is a club known today, with immense prestige and followers.
Mourinho has lost any cup? I am convinced that with Mourinho had, for example, won the championship last season. AW takes an eternity to make a substitution does not alter your game system does not “read or studied” the opposing team. Is apathetic on the bench and gets up to argue with the referee 4; Mourinho believes the players, encourages them and asks for public support. AW, becomes a central figure in the game in the negative; the other in the positive way.

  49. Suhail.TV says:

April 1st or 31st, fools will be always fools and Denilsen will continue his journey at club 🙁 🙁

  50. Joaquim Moreira says:

The work and the results were. It’s up to whoever comes, can keep it or not. The truth is that Chelsea went to a neighborhood club, unknown internationally for what it is today.

  51. Gooner4life&beyond says:

I think it’s blinkered to just rule out Mourinho, he is a great manager and a winner. That cannot be denied, he got Porto to be winners domestically and internationally.

He will spend money, but he will sell the crap players to make up the necessary funds if he needs to. He would not bankrupt us, he can only work with what the board give him so that argument is redundant.

  52. goonerboy says:

Goonerwife is right-the current Arsenal Board would never appoint an egotist like Mourinho. They simply don’t value winning that highly-they are happy with mediocrity and excuses. How convenient that their values co-incide with not spending money on players. The club which charges the highest prices to watch the team in the EPL spends the least in the transfer market on strengthening the squad.
Perhaps goonerwife needs to appreciate that the Board are custodians themselves who can be replaced and brought out-and that their values lie at the root of the complacency which runs throughout the club resulting in poor commercial performance and failure to exercise a proper accountability of the teams performances.

  53. Joaquim Moreira says:

Will. I’m agree with you but we must recognize Mourinho capacities and the steps for reach them.
Goonerwife: Mourinho have been one year and half in F.C.Porto. They won one League, one cup,one UEfa cup, one Champions League and one International cup. Porto won maybe 18 the League, many cups, also once European Cup before Mourinho; Chelsea won the second legue after 50 years and now it’s always a candidate; Inter was a big Club domestic and in Europe, always with a expensive team and only with Mourinho won interesting trophies. We his a winner. No doubts about that.

  54. W.A.T.H says:

I know it’s way off topic but isn’t it amazing that this thread/post/topic is number 1 on newsnow….. Well done Rico and please don’t take the following as any disrespect to you but I find it pretty pathetic that our fans are so gullable in the extreme that you can put up such a crap heading ( is Denilson hated that much ?) and the site gets all these new age fans clicking on the topic to see a headline that is plainly rubbish and yet yesterdays topic and post which was far more important close to the heart and very very real about a legend of the club gets hardly any hits…..? are Arsenal fans really so two bob…? or are they a reflection of the current team? new age fans for a new age team with no sense of the history or the players that have made this club what it is…? Pisses me right off, it’s why the bowl is so full of plebs on a matchday…!

  55. W.A.T.H says:

JM, I’m with you on the Mourinho call, the man knows how to get a club winning he would not bankrupt us our board are to tight to let him BUT he would spend what funds we have available and thats all we are asking wenger to do….! mourinho gets his players playing for him and the club and are we not crying out for that as well….! Wenger needs to stop this bullshit of trying to be financial director and get back to being manager, if he can’t then best he moves on…! the club and him are going stale in the current set up…!

  56. W.A.T.H says:

You me and the majority of the Arsenal supporting world by the looks of it Carol, shame the author didnt include a few others that we know should be got rid of…!

  57. s j little says:

Would be better off without Clichy=he never marks his man too often lets him get inside to pull the defence of position, seen it so often and what is the use of attacting full backs who can,t defend and cant centre accurately? Diaby, yes please stay injured! Eboue hopeless full back but the only forward who goes at his opponents and forces them into errors.

  58. s j little says:

No way do we want such a non-Arsenal type fellow as that crafty little clever dick who bought the Chavs a few bits of silver. As for putting the Chavs on the map what modern fans seem to forget is that when I started watching Arsenal in 1939 they were WORLD FAMOUS before Moan Utd had got out of the 2nd Division. They had a STADIUM not an old Wooden shed or a load of old girders! Incidently the Chavs build a corner stand just before the war and had to knock it down just after because it was unsafe! What other Club had a Station named after it or were the stars in a film called the Arsenal Stadium Mystery! Arsenal is bigger than any club when it comes to their history. Unlike the Chavs Arsenal shut the gates once it was no longer possible to see the pitch whereas Chelsea used to let you in and then you found it impossible to get up to the back of the enclosure, fans used to have to leave without getting their money back Arsenal paid their players top rewards and looked after them ever afterwards. The safety measures were way ahead of most clubs. They had principles second to none. Their reserve team were watched by 30,000 crowds. They had more Internationals (when International were elite) than any other club. Yes we supported ARSENAL because they were CLASS they were SPECIAL they had GLAMOUR no other LONDON Club had until ARSENAL came to North London been other than fodder for the Northern teams.Trophies alone don.t define a Club. Under Wenger we,ve had a glorious reign far more worthy than Chelsea or Moan Utd (or Blackburn) all of whom spent Millions to buy the First Division ( so called premier) All we want Wenger to do is to not allow any more players to come in that are unable to show some passion and beligerence as well as basic knowledge of the positions they fill.

  59. kelsey says:

    Morning all.
i have it on good authority that Wenger is going all out to win our remaining games and has devised a secret plan to bamboozle the opposition.

Jeremy Aliadiere will lead the attack today as he doesn’t want to risk RVP as he reckons we should get at least one more game in him.

Almunia slipped over in his kitchen making a spanish omellette and dropped it on the floor,so jens is back in goal and will captain the side.

The formation will be 1-4-6 as we can’t defend and will go on all out attack.

Height will come from Wilshere,Arshavin,Walcott and Fabregas and Aliadiere so Sagna and Clichy will keep crossing high balls into the box.

The Venky’s won’t be there as they will be glued to the cricket and don’t care a toss about today’s game.
3 points in the bag. simples 🙂

  60. aad966ah says:

the ref just bottled it today for west ham…shud have sent of vidic at 2-0 but didnt and fucked up the result for a team which are in the relegation zone…

  61. MistaKen says:

Mourino should not manage Arsenal because he will not stay long what ever he wins. He is for himself and does not have passion for clubs. I don’t blame his because he is a winner. Arsenal need Owen Coyle. Believe me this guy knows what he is doing and if we don’t get him one of our wealthy rivals will and just watch him soar
