Cesc Fabregas – You are an embarrassment!!

The Match Review will be up in the morning but I just wanted to share my feelings after tonight’s game……

I can accept the result… Just

I can accept we are out of the Champions League…

I cannot accept that Barca played on with eleven players after Robin van Persie was all but throttled!

I cannot accept the sending off decision of Robin van Persie…

But, most of all….

I cannot accept watching our captain hugging, snogging and shaking hands of our opposition before one of the most important matches of our season whilst in the tunnel prior to tonight’s game.

Would Tony Adams have done that? Would Paddy or Henry behaved in such a way??

Cesc, your pre match build up was all so very wrong and your performance on the pitch was affected…

Tonight, you were an embarrassment!!

  1. Cpt John says:

Hi Rico.. I didn’t get to the bar on time to see that but if that happened I agree.. It’s not acceptable.. Don’t pick a fight with them but at least have a stern business look about you!!!!

  2. Shashi says:

You are an idiot and an embarrassment for Arsenal Fans. I am sure Fabregas was hugging nobody after the game.

  3. Djofils MD says:

worst of all he was laughing when Messi scored that penalty. He fucking better have explanation to make

  4. rico says:

Hi Cpt John, I couldn’t believe it – he hugged and kissed them all just prior to walking out of the tunnel…

Absolutely and totally wrong from our captain who funny enough wants to join Barca….

  5. W.A.T.H says:

All that laughing and joking before kick off was pathetic, as for his strolling around for 70 mins also prety pathetic, who picks the team him or Wenger, quite clearly totally unfit so should not of even been on the pitch.

  6. rico says:

DG, Jack was awesome, Nasri, Djourou, Kos and Almunia (shock horror) did well too…

Diaby was useless, Nikki should have nicked us the game, and i mean nicked us the game….

  7. rico says:

Hi WATH, i had gone for the night but that really f-in wound me up… dreadful, and his performance was shocking, call himself a leader….

  8. Cpt John says:

Jack didn’t deserve to be on the loosing side in that game!! He should do a Roy Keane and call out “Diabolical” (i’ve always been against that nickname but it really fits today)!!!

  9. PTangYangKipperBang says:

Wenger did nothing wrong, in fact I would say he got it spot on. They were always going to have the ball. I firmly believe that had it stayed 11 v 11 then we would’ve done em. I am not deluded but the game was going the same way as before, they were waning as the game wore on and getting frustrated. I know they were passing us off the park but our team were defending like lions and on the few occasions we did advance on their goal we looked like we would score.

  10. Dove says:

He is a joke. He better watches what captains do. Watch Gerrard, Vidic, and others. He is a cause for the first goal. He is no more a leader of this team. Wilshere stands far from him.

  11. moo says:

barca destroyed us…rvp sending off was harsh but right. the ref followed the rules.
we would have lost no matter what – we are just pretending we deserved to win which we did not

  12. W.A.T.H says:

Hardly the right way to start a game is it tommo, lets all play happy families with the opposition…! He should not of been on the pitch either clearly totally unfit.

  13. Simon says:

Mr. Danish Guuter. Another stupid comment. You must be one happy Arsenal support. Lucky your in the wrong country (hopefully). 11 v 11 it was a game. The sending off was a farce. That changed everything. How can you not think the 2 center defenders played well? How about Almunia (who, personall, I wish was on another team). The tactics might not have been right but missing Walcott and Song wth clearly unfit CF4 and then the sending off. Please. stop throwing your little toys out of your pram and try thinking.

  14. Gideon says:

Agree with the writer’s sentiments. Cesc has never played well against Barca. I guess this is it, he’s a Barca man next season. Wenger open your eyes, we’ll survive without Cesc. He does want to leave his performance tonight leaves no doubt in my mind.

  15. sick says:

yeah the only thing cesc did wrong was the hugging of his catalan friends…..he shouldn’t have done that but its a different culture…cant complain about him being cramped in between our 18 yard line and the half way line…no space ..barca are super at closing down….needed to be belting it long spreading the game

  16. Dim says:

Im sorry but HOW can you call Cesc a disgrace?? The guy saying hi to his childhood friends before the match means he doesnt want to perform for Arsenal? how does that work? He spends his whole career at a club and you think he’s not going to give 100% just because he says hi. I think arsenal fans like you are a disgrace and you give us a bad name. Maybe your memory fails you but he scored a penalty against them with a broken leg and he’s a disgrace all of a sudden? HAve some respect for the team that gives their 100% every game and most of all for our captain!

  17. agirlagunner says:

Hey, rico! I was wondering the same thing myself, but it’s Cesc so I’d always be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt… 😉

  18. am says:

Lets forget the sham that was the referee, and the idoitic behaviour of the barca players trying to get our players sent off.

    Abidal was a lucky boy.

Anyway lets put all our anger onto Man Utd.

  19. PTangYangKipperBang says:

He has certainly underperformed in every game against Barca. Headline maybe a little strong though

  20. Dim says:

To follow up I seem to remember Henry and Vieira doing exactly the same thing on their returns to the emirates.

  21. Willy young says:

Well played Jack! doujouro was brilliant Kos promising
The rest were outclassed sadly it really is time to move Rosicky and BEndtner on in the Summer

Hope Ramsey gets some game time too soon

If we get TV Theo RVP and Cesc fit we really could win the league

Next year we need a quality striker to support RVP and cover for Song and we really are close to a good side but sadly nowhere near Barca who are different level as much as it pains me

  22. kay says:

i totally refuse to agree with you on this point. These are guys he grew up with, so you expect him to show some hostility.Isn’t there life after football?

  23. rico says:

You fans that don’t agree with me…

Just look at the great captains gone by, they don’t hug and kiss before games, they sych the oppo out and thats because they want to win the game, keep the hus and kisses until the end, when we have won….

  24. joe bloggs says:

what makes it worse is havin to listen to the rubbish, redknapp, benitez and souness spout out. it was all about going through, if that meant they had 50 shots more than us but we got a nil nil, who cares. we were 3-2 up with half gr to go and the ref ****ed us! come on arsenal, come on wenger, chin up, let’s take that premier league and shut up all these so called expert pundits!

  25. rico says:

kay, i don’t care, full time is for that, not prior to the game when we all know he wants to leave us for the team we are playing!!

  26. Gooner_b11 says:

dude take a chill pill….. if wenger had real players/winners on that pitch, tonights result could’ve been different, and fabregas wouldn’t even be captin, the key to beating barca tonight was to pin back their fullbacks and stiffle xavi and iniesta (with intelligence, not physiche) meaning play jack, cesc and samir in the middle.

instead tonight i saw wenger is a fake…..we completely abandoned our principles,we didn’t try to play nasri and rosicky played as fullbacks….we played a backline of 6 and thats an EMBARRASSMENT, in 90’s NO SHOTS AT ALL, in 5mins on the pitch Andrey Arshavin did more than rosicky did in 70mins

get some sleep! and think about the real question needed to be asked “WHEN, we finish trophyless again this season, what should we do with the manager….WHO BUILT THIS TEAM”

  27. Chicago gooners says:

I’m a lifelong gooner for 30 years from holloway road.this author obviously is not a true gooner.born arsenal live arsenal die arsenal, anyone who doesn’t agree fuck off and follow the yids.long live wenger.

  28. Dazzer says:

I agree. I’ve never moaned about Cesc ever before but as soon as I saw the hugging and kissing that he was doing I couldnt believe it. I’ve never seen a captain of any team behave like that in a tunnel before. It was a disgrace.

  29. W.A.T.H says:

Dim is about the right word for you fella, you go all lovey dovery after the game with your mates not when your supposed to be focused on going out and beating them…!

  30. PTangYangKipperBang says:

Moo how can you say the sending off was right? 1 second between whistle and shot! Don’t be so bloody silly.

  31. ..... says:

what is wrong with you people. how can you accuse him of anything of the sort? He was chosen BY WENGER to play. without him we would have lost regardless. He was not laughing when Messi scored the penalty. Watch it again you fool, he was making a disappointed face in the background when the penalty went in. He also hugged and smiled with the players because THEY ARE HIS FRIENDS. he did not play any worse or any better as a result of this, he was clearly hampered by a not fully recovered thigh which he played on with to HELP ARSENAL WIN. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. How can you crucify a man from this in one match when he has really done nothing wrong? When we go on to win the title and he is holding up the PL title above his head you’ll all blow kisses at him and claim he is a great leader. None of you are true supporters, your fans that are turning your back on Cesc because it is convinient and because your angry. Nobody is happy we lost but how can you all point the finger at him and blame his actions for any part of our loss. Your all the disgraces.

  32. Gunfire says:

Maybe he wanted to look good in front of his ‘buddiers’. That sort of things should be left till after the game. Why? It just confuses the Arsenal players psychologically and mentally when you’re about to go into a match against them.

Apart form that, the referee was really stupid to send Van Persie off. What Van Persie said was correct, with 95000 fans making noise, even I find it hard to know if it’s the ref’s whistle! Furthermore, he should have taken action against Abidal for putting his hand to choke van Persie. That’s stupid of Abidal.

Taking nothing away from the team, I thought we should have put in Ramsey instead of Diaby who’s slow.

    Hat’s off to Wilshere.

  33. danny says:

Highbury house you are a twat this, young kid has dragged this team along for 3/4 years played his nuts off and you say he is an embarrassment how dare you you can never have played football at any level you say hello to your mates, then you beat them did you not watch play for us for the last 5 years !!!

  34. PTangYangKipperBang says:

I have no problem with Cescs behaviour before the game. Proper gentlemen do behave like that. Only when the whistle blows should the aggression begin. Between whistles players can be friends but not during.
I am more bothered by his consistently poor showings on the pitch against them.

  35. rico says:

danny, i have watched them for many years, never seen a captain so lovey dovey before… don’t forget its the club that are poaching him, if you are happy then good for you, he should have kept all that ‘love’ for after the match, not before…

  36. Jaygooner says:

Tonight didnt even register on the hurt barometer. So we got a blatantly biased ref? No change there, So the injury curse continues? At least the medical team wont be made redundant anytime soon. I saw two outstanding things tonight, Wilshere and RVP. If the rest of the team match their commitment wow! Omce again the missus (stuns me how much she knows about football) pointed out that Cesc barely touched the ball throughout the whole game, apart from setting up Barca’s opener.

  37. Essex Gooner says:

Cesc had a poor game, although I think this was more due to him not being fully fit than any allegiance to Barca. It will be interesting to see how many games he will miss now, in competitions that we have a decent chance of winning. Obviously I want our strongest 11 to face Barca, but only if they are fully fit, and not at the cost of the rest of our season. How many times in the past have we pushed the likes of Cesc back from injury too quickly and it has cost us?

  38. W.A.T.H says:

Seems your not a proper Arsenal supporter Rico seems you dare say bad words about our captain who was laughing and joking with the opposition in the tunnel before the game, how very professional of him…!.

  39. redordead says:

A new Mr Arsenal has been born JACK WILSHIRE

Please install the above name as captain NOW!!!!!!

  40. red says:

typical gooners blame the ref for your loss . dont hear you all complaining bout the barca pen that should have been given in the first half . got beat get over it.should have tried to win the game , that would have made a difference

  41. W.A.T.H says:

Jaygooner, your missus is spot on mate, he wasn’t fit obviously and should not of been picked now is that Wenger pushing him of Cesc begging to play? either way it was a big mistake.

  42. agirlagunner says:

Cesc would do well to examine his performance, and take his frustration out on the Mancs. Feel better, rico. Off to work now. Argh.

  43. lars says:

As good as Barca were, there is nothing we can be proud of tonight. Not a single shot in the entire game, more than 700 passes to our 199. Let’s not get all high an mighty and pretend it was anything other than an abject performance and leaves us utterly humiliated on the European stage!! The RVP red card was harsh but it didn’t change anything and when will Wenger learn to show just a modicum of grace – we weren’t even good enough to say we were second best!!

  44. Dim says:

@ W.A.T.H. – when the game began was fabregas hugging and kissing them or was he fighting for the cause? I seem to remember a few situations where he confronted the barca players and the ref. Who gives a sh*t what goes on before the match as long as once the game starts he is fighting. Your brain is obviously like a sieve because I bet when he scores in the next game you forget all about this just like you forgot about his goal last year. Start being a true fan rather than a critic, who are we to judge what Fabregas did, especially after all the things he’s done for this club? Chicago Gooner has the right attitude, with fans like W.A.T.H. who needs enemies?

  45. rico says:

WATH – you know I love Cesc, we all do but seeing all that in the tunnel was just wrong – it was cruel and totally ‘up yours’ to us fans….

  46. rico says:

Also, Had he gone out and played his heart out, it would have been different but tonight it was between him and Diaby for worst player of the game…

Thought Almunia did bloody well though…

  47. Gunfire says:

DAvid Villa was literally pleading with the ref to award a penalty…the incident involving Kocielny. I thought Kocielny was not at fault really. Wasnt Villa too much? Or was he influencing the ref?

  48. Dim says:

@N5CHU for you to have made that comment im guessing you have played football professionally and know what it feels like to not be FOCUSSED.

  49. rico says:

redordead – spot on re jack but we’ll have to wait a couple of years yet i think for him to get the armband….

  50. Essex Gooner says:

Almunia was great, but I hope Sczeszeny isn’t out for too long. The problem with Almunia is it’s only a matter of time before he fucks up and loses us a game.

  51. malcom says:

fabregas was shocking. If I was wenger I would sell him to Inter or Real. Never to thr cnuts at camp nou. catalonian tw*ts.

Its easy to pretpose as great when the refs are all in your pocket. can’t be tackled witout a foul blown, offsides not given consistently, but they foul all day to get the ball back. Same way they beat the chavs couple seasons ago

  52. rico says:

Dim, Cesc was shocking, the occassion got to him, the pre match ‘love in’ didn’t help him, it all backfired….

  53. danny says:

We went to let them have the ball for the first 60 mins then we thought they would tire and we would nick a goaland if we had to 2 they scored after 47 min we then lost our focus when we had a bit of a ruck, they knew what they were doing when they are in trouble the dive, make every tackle look bad they are great footballers but. they cheat !!. we didn’t try to score first half we wanted 0-0 at half time but because they scored we we had, to so we did in ten mins of the 2nd half , then the ref sends Van Persie off IF THAT LAST CHANCE HAD FELL TO HIM WE WOULD HAVE GONE THROUGH a top striker good first touch GOAL !! then how good would BARCA looked ????

  54. Dim says:

rico – totally agree fabregas was terrible but is that more to do with his hugs and kisses or due to the type of player he is. Fabregas plays well with the ball at his feet, when we have possession he doesnt chase the ball and put in tackles, thats not his style of play. As pep said we couldnt string together 3 passes, more because of barcas pressing than our players playing badly.

  55. Miko says:

Nothing wrong with Cesc other than his fitness. The real problem here is Wenger and his total lack of commitment to winning. He could learn alot from a Mourinho as I guess many can. Van Persie was completely innefective in the first half, wasnt getting into spaces or doing anything. He risked being sent off in the first half, and I honestly thought he would be replaced come the second half. Wenger doesnt believe he can win without him and that is a problem. Bendtner, as much as I cant stand him should have been in from start of the second half, and arshavin in for diaby. Cesc could have played a more defensive role then with wilshere allowing nasri to rome with bendtner in middle and arshavin and rosicky on the flanks. Something had to change when they were down 1-0 in a game where I couldnt even remember having seen valdes in the first half. Wenger is a joke, and it seemed as if Van Persie was looking to get shipped, and Wenger should have known better. Arsenal can never win with him pulling the strings. He is great to bring up the youth, but tacticall he leaves alot wanting.

  56. W.A.T.H says:

easily pleased are you dim….. seems like your the ultimate fan with an attitude like that, happy with loosing and seeing your captain having a big love in with the opposition, keep those blinkers on fella cos what ever Cesc may lift it won’t be just cos of him will it so I’d be cheering the team not him !! Who gives a shit what he does before a match are you for real…? Time to get rid of those blinkers, he confronted the ref and that shows what exactly…? He also gets paid handsomely to do things for our club… next silly reply…………

  57. Miko says:

The red card was a joke, but Im sure the ref pretty much had it in for Van Persie after the first Yellow, which could have easily been a red. The f’n dutch are all the same, they lose their heads way too easily.

  58. Billremedios says:

Yes agree he did us no favours by his tunnel hugs and kisses before kick off. Sky highlighted again at end of match. Just goes to show where his heart is. He won’t be with us next season. Also he was not fit and should not have played. How do the players on the bench feel about playing a half fit player to them. We were lucky to get goal but for ainute I thought the possible was going to happen. But doubt even 11 players would have held out. Maybe could have taken it to extra time. But we couldn’t the ball of them. Our style suits them. Teams like inter of last season show u how you must play against them. Long balls into their half in the full back channel stops them winning the ball back high up the pitch. Wenger again doesn’t have plan b. Wiltshire did well in breaking them up and was valiant in defeat but let’s not get carried away he still has lots to learn. Nasri should be given a chance to run our midfield if Fabregas goes next season. Can’t see us beating utd at weekend. Hope it doesn’t fall apart from here. Wenger needs to add more quality to team or go. Same old excuses won’t do.

  59. W.A.T.H says:

In an ideal world Danny thats a great bit of wishful thinking however we got pummelled due to Wenger picking the wrong players and due in large chunks to an absolute tosser of a ref no doubt but they still played us off the park and for the wishful thinking to work we have to have a certain amount of attacking ambition which even with 11 v 11 we didnt show any…!

  60. rico says:

Dim, maybe if Cesc tried a bit harder we would ahve doen all those things – he was one of our worst out there tonight and he’s our captain…. ???

  61. Miko says:

Danny is giving alot of ifs. At the end of the day, If they had scored on one more of the many chances they had, this would all be over as well. We didnt go in to the first half looking for 0-0, we went into it looking for possession, thats why we started the game off pressuring the s..t out of them in their half and actually winning some balls – only we couldnt keep it. Their pressure was too great. Not one shot on goal….are you serious….did you expect to pass with perhaps another own goal?

  62. JonJon says:

cecs was a dipstick for what he did tonight
its not even his making love to the barca players that bothers me the most
it was his fucking back heel in our box that bothers me..

  63. Dim says:

@ W.A.T.H Wenger picking the wrong players? now i kno0w theres no point in arguing with you coz u obviously know nothing about football. Go on wise guy who would you have picked?

  64. W.A.T.H says:

If I know nothing about football why would you want to know who I’d of picked mr blinkered…? Seeing as your happy with the way we played your obviously happy with the team wenger picked and we were just unlucky 2nite were we…? Obviously being a top fan your not going to dare be critical of anyone…!

  65. Miko says:

Gunfire….I would rather have won. That is the point…we are always talking about the same things, but great teams find ways to overcome adversity and we just crumble and whine. It is so true what someone said earlier, chelsea got it so much worse some time back in the semis. If maybee we had a few shots on goal and actually looked like some kind of deserving team, maybee then we would have something to complain about, or maybee we would be complaining and at the sime time passing to the next round. But its always the same story. Excuses work when they arent always used, but for this team there is always an excuse. I mean tactically nothing made sense.

  66. JonJon says:

    bottom line is
    we got outplayed
    we defended well
but we couldnt defend anymore with 10 men
cesc might as well not have played, nor diaby
jack and nasri as well as our defence were our best players and cesc needs to take responsibilty for his actions
    simple..

  67. Dim says:

@ W.A.T.H. Why dont you answer my questions instead of insulting me, i dont understand you. you seem to not know what you are saying because you cant even back it up. WHO WOULD YOU HAVE PICKED? Who was on the bench that would have changed the game and made us win?

  68. W.A.T.H says:

Rico, captain or not your allowed to have a crap game but he was clearly unfit so why was he even picked..? again was it wenger or was it cesc throwing toys out the cot cos he wanted to play. He is the player that along with Jack gives us tempo and we had nothing, he made no rns found no space and didnt get involved at all as he was clearly injured so reall all he did was hinder the team. Shouldnt of played simple as that.

  69. rico says:

WATH – agree re the ref, absoulte waste of space and i though robin summed him up well after the game…

    ‘joke’…

now wait for wenger and the players to get a CL ban for next season…

  70. Miko says:

And as for as the players chosen, I couldnt agree more with W.A.T.H. Maybee we wouldnt agree on which players, but I certainly feel that after the first 30 minutes it was clear that Van Persie shouldnt have been out there, Cesc maybee as well. Bendtner as much as I cant stand him should have started this game, and van persie used as a sub if need later in the game. Also, would have used arshavin over rosicky to start.

  71. Dim says:

JonJon – No he diddnt look fit. Thats my point.. people are saying he was not focussed because of saying hi to his mates, which is clearly not the case. He’s not 100% and his style requires us to have possession.

  72. rico says:

WATH – thats wenger though, he takes risks when he shouldn’t, why did he not just take Ramsey? He would have loved the opportunity to face Barca and i bet he wouldn’t have been fazed either…

  73. GoonerGaz says:

    Referee needs to be suspended.

Rosicky, Bendtner, Diaby and of course Denilson need to move on, not only because of their quality, but there is no passion or fight in them, unlike Jack!

Jack was Phenomenal, I’m so proud he is a gooner.

On reflection I think the only way to beat Barcelona is with walcott (counter attack) or playing a very aggressive formation so Barcelona feel unable to camp themselves in our half. I can’t imagine how Barca would react if we played 2 or 3 strikers(including walcott) against their last defender.

  74. Dim says:

Id rather have an 80% cesc than a 100% denilson on the pitch and having played football before and listening to players, professionals are rarely at 100% match fitness.

  75. W.A.T.H says:

Very good dim tell me i dont answer your question yet you have not answered a single one of mine and yet as I said if i know nowt why are you so interested?. If i wanted to insult you you’d know all about it and seeing as I’m apparently a disgraceful fan thats a bit much coming from you eh…!
Firstly Cesc should not of played simple as that, as I’ve said before clearly injured. Change the team so we could win, thats not what I said either is it? We didnt need to win we just needed not to lose. The whole midfield was stuffed as they were making up for Cesc so thats the first problem.

  76. Miko says:

I just Feel starting Van Persie was the biggest mistake, we needed someone big up there winning balls to help keep possession, like a bendtner or chamakh. Rosicky way out of his league and not the biggest fan of diaby either. As for Cesc, I would have started him, giving him a larger defensive role, but he clearly wasnt fit for this game.

  77. rico says:

I’m angry with cesc for his pre match stuff and i still believe that that didn’t help his game…

If he was unfit, the medics should have stopped him playing, wenger should have stopped him playing and cesc himself shoul have stopped himself playing…

  78. JonJon says:

if hes not fit then he dont play
he dont back heel in the box
and he dont go stick his cock up the enemies arse..

  79. Miko says:

And against a team like barca, I would definitely take a 100% fit denilson over a 70% fit Cesc. Like WATH said, we didnt have to win, we just had to not lose!

  80. Crazygunner says:

Am a gunner in this world and the next if thier is one.am proud of the team they did not disappoint at all.some of you guys call yourselves gunners but you really are losers.if you can not hug a friend you have known for year before the match shame on you.cos viera huged some of his french mates before matches it dose not mean he would give less than 100%.

  81. W.A.T.H says:

Rico, Robin called him a joke but was actually quite clever in how he said it, didn’t really slag the fella off just told it as it was and in that respect was 100% correct. The bloke gave them every single decision maybe apart from a pen in the first half but then again Messin went down like hit by a sniper so maybe that didnt help. How did we get 5 yellow cards and them nothing..?

  82. JonJon says:

    but fuck it
we got beat by the best team
its done i expect an apology from the captain and a pl title to make up for it

  83. rico says:

Miko, you must be the only one re Denilson and RvP was fired up for this game – he looked fitter than cesc, he just had no support as we couldn’t get the ball………

  84. Miko says:

This back heel stuff is ridiculous – Did anyone notice he was completely surrounded and almost facing his own net. SHould he had just let it through or do nothing or pass to any of the 4 barca players surrounding him? It was more than just a poor decision to backheel, he had nowhere to go with the ball.

  85. Dim says:

@W.A.T.H. agree with you that he shouldnt have played but consider our replacements – ramsey hasnt got in a high quality game in a year, denilson the crab, eboue which would mean rosicky playing in the middle (remember birmingham). Simply we had no other team that could have played better. But none of this has anything to do with the point that he played badly bcause he was smooching the opposition-ur saying what im trying to say which is that isnt the reason he was shocking- he obviously wasnt fit. correct?

  86. geoff reid says:

to many useless players rosisky, diaby, bedtner–arshaven did more in a few minutes than all of them-should have started.

  87. JonJon says:

that ref has officiated 5 cl games with 5 spanish teams and all spanish teams have won
ans that includes villareal athletico and sevilla

  88. rico says:

WATH – i thought Rvp was very clever too, but you just know they will come a hunting with the bans, but robin was spot on, the ref was a joke and as the game went on, the lino’s flag went up less and less…

I can take a loss but not when playing 13 from the off….

  89. Miko says:

Rico, maybee I am, but maybee it is because i am portuguese and saw mourinho take our team through the CL finals playing tactical games, and making subs that made tactical sense, not just putting a player out there as his only hope to winning. Some coaches believe that one player will win the game and without that player you are done. Other coaches believe that all of his players can be used as tools depending on the situation.

  90. rico says:

Crazygunner, the difference is Paddy hugged his mates, not mates of the club he wants to join, its a sensitive subject for all us gooners and i think cesc could have saved all that until after the game….

  91. JonJon says:

on a plus point at least we got a good game out of the spanish waiter
with ches and fab out for season we gonna need him now..
    yey how great 😉

  92. rico says:

Fabregas described the mistake as ‘the worst moment of his life’ and he took full responsbility for seeing Arsenal’s European dreams end at the hands of Barcelona for a second successive season.

Writing on his social networking website, Twitter, Fabregas said: “Great support from the Arsenal fans. I take full blame for the result tonight.

“One of the worst moments of my life. I apologise.”

  93. rico says:

jj, he did himself proud, made some great saves…

manonne is back from loan now i think, so i guess he’s the number two….

  94. JonJon says:

well we can discuss the cesc ‘should he, shouldnt he’ thing all week but the fact is he shouldnt..

by the way cesc has taken full responsibility on twitter…

  95. GunnerX says:

For me Fab4 was shocking over both legs of the tie, maybe its a psychological thing, but his performances over both legs have been dire.

  96. W.A.T.H says:

I think if you go back and look at the comments dim I have not said anywhere that his love in with them in the tunnel is why he was crap…. I do think his love in before a big competative game in the tunnel with them is an absolute joke, mates or not they the enemy until its all over and then hug em and buy em a beer in the bar but before the game you show your team that this is war… focus, show passion and lets get stuck in, do you think he showed that…? Not in a million years. Thats very different from him having an awful game and he was awful obviously cos he was injured and my argument then is he should not of played simple as that now who’s to blame for that decision is anyones guess. I love Ramsey but agree he would not of been up to speed for tonights game, I’d of had Gibbs on the left in front of Clichy, he’s quick can tackle and would of given good cover for Clichy and could of got forward and gives us balance being left footed. I’d of then put Ebooie ( yes Ebooie ) on the right in front of Sagna with Nas, Jack n Diaby in the middle with Chamakh up front, chamakh spills blood for 60/70 mins and bring on RVP, not a team to play pretty football but all we had to do was hussle and bussle them and we didnt manage to do it high enough up the pitch. Again it was a team that we wanted to get a result bot outplay barca just stop them and get a result

  97. GoonerGaz says:

I wonder how many big games that Swiss ref has to Referee on a weekly basis? Uefa are as much a joke as that cock referee.

  98. rico says:

    No, it was moanrinho miko..

    jj 😉

gunnerx, i don’t think he was too bad in the first leg…

  99. ramli says:

its very clear fabregas gave to much respect to the catalans..from huging to poor performance on the pitch..m the named my son fabregas..i think it was stupid thing i done in my life..he is a catalans..so it was 12 catalans against 10 GUNNERS..after RVP sent off it was down to 9..

  100. GoonerGaz says:

W.A.T.H, fully agree with gibbs in front of clichy and eboue in front of Sagna. Been praying Wenger would try something like this for a while now, doubt it though.

  101. Dim says:

WATH – You have a point and yes you are correct. My main point at the beginning which was disputed is how can anyone call fabregas a ‘disgrace’. Harsh words for someone whos given us so much and who on any other day we never doubt him at all.

  102. Crazygunner says:

Rico it by no means mean he was disloyal at all.if u watched the game wenger wanted to defend for 70min and offensive for 20mins you could see the diff when arsh came in even with a man down.

  103. JonJon says:

    that was the plan crazyg
    but it went tits up..
not only are arsenal not allowed to tackle but it seems we are no longer allowed to shoot either anymore

  104. GoonerGaz says:

rico, I think he has, but the quality of the Swiss league is no platform for a champions league game. It’s can’t be any better than a league 2 referee reffing tonights game.

  105. Miko says:

And Porto have so much pull to do that sort of stuff in the biggest competition out there. Its kind of funny when you compare the salries of all of these big teams compared to our top teams. THis is off topic so I guess I’ll get back to my point – Arsneal need to learn how to win an ugly game, especially when their pretty boys are injured. Eboue would have been a good pick to start, chamakh a good pick, bendtner a good pick – Who wasnt a good pick to start – Van Persie, Cesc, rosiky – I mean they were just off pace. If you go down, you can always introduce van persie later or even cesc, why start the game with them?

  106. W.A.T.H says:

The thing is dim on a normal day commitment will never come into question but having a love in with a bunch of tossers who have already had a barca shirt on his back and who perpetualy talk utter bollox in the papers about joining barca then the last thing you do is hug each and everyone in the tunnel and laugh and joke, I dont care who it is if I saw another teams captain doing it I’d say exactly the same, its bang out of order, there is a time and a place and with all the shit they have stirred up cesc should know better. Set the wrong tone in my opinion for sure..!

  107. richard says:

This was a master class folks… simply the most one sided game I have ever seen Arsenal play…I actually felt sorry for the players to be so destroyed with football… I thought the red card was a bit harsh….but folks, Barca are truly so much better than any team in the EPL…. I’m still in a bit of shock…..Once again, it’s Barca that have shown Arsenal what real football looks like…Arsenal do this to 95% of the teams in the EPL…WOW!

  108. rico says:

crazygunner – it just didn’t sit well with me personally, like said before, any player can have a bad game and to be fair cesc doesn’t have many but i didn’t like the love in, some see it different and thats fine, we don’t all always agree…. 😉

  109. JonJon says:

    thing is mika
is that tonight we were winning ugly..or winning the tie anyway..
and it was far from pretty.
but once robin went off we had no chance

  110. Miko says:

As for Cesc antics before the game, what a douchebag. I remember Ronaldo in game vs England getting Rooney sent off – sure they are teammates, but war is war. There is no loyalty in soccer to anyone but your teammates, and the second you get into the stadium, you have no friends but those that are by your side. Even more so for the Captain.

  111. Dim says:

Fair enough. At the end of the day the ref ruined what could have been a great day for us. Barca come off looking as Gods and we come off looking like a bunch of school kids who cant get a shot off.
We should all prepare ourselves for the onslaught of abuse we will receive tomorrow, especially if the scum go through.

  112. W.A.T.H says:

GoonerGaz, Gibbs n Ebooie would of given us a bit more speed in the wide areas, would of helped defend as a unit and with Gibbs you get balance on the left, surely with a midfield that is quick and tenacious it makes it far harder for barca to get any rythem, seems AW was just happy to sit back and doing that was never ever gonna work when we had little or no attacking options with Cesc playing at 10%…!

  113. PTangYangKipperBang says:

I think Cesc was off form tonight because Xavi had shot some “DNA” into him before the game lol

  114. Miko says:

Sure JJ, we were winning ugly, but winning ugly is at the final whistle. What happend was we lost ugly. Even after Van Persie got Sent off, make the changes you need to make and park the bus back there! If thats what we tried to do, then perhaps they need to spend more practising that tactic. I mean 10 men in front of the goal is still not that easy to score on.

  115. W.A.T.H says:

Dim, meelan are utter shit the yids are going through…! prepare yourself for the abuse !!. We did look like kids and we didnt get a shot off, although the ref was a joke and we got no decisions they still played us off the park and we went ou without even a whimper which is sad.

  116. W.A.T.H says:

Rico, I don’t blame Cesc for loosing and its unfair he’s said its his fault, I’d be happier if he said I risked playing while I was unfit and for that I am sorry…!

  117. JonJon says:

robin van persies a god and now hes pissed off hes gona win us the league..
jack and rvp bleed arsenal and will lead us to glory
cescs the captain but he wont be the one that leads us to glory..
its gotta be he was a pussy tonight..
rvp and jack and nasri were getting rowdy and cesc was pleading with them not to hurt his friends
    fuck off..
u owe us cesc..so you better pull ur sox up..u owe us big or its rvp for captain i say…

  118. rico says:

WATH, i don’t blame him for the loss, there is more to any game that one player…

what i am so cross about is the love in with the barca players just before we kicked off… just isn’t right in my book…

  119. W.A.T.H says:

I do blame him for his love in though and still think out of order…!. Oh well shit happens now watch Wenger make a masterstroke and play a totally shit team on sunday…!

  120. K-TR7 says:

Barca outplayed us but when rvp was sent off the tie was 1-1.that sending off gave us no outlet upfront which meant biscuits/abidal/alves had the freedom to push us further back.our through marking was also working like a charm and when rvp was off it was disrupted and thats why we suffered that onslaught.rvp staying on may not have guaranteed us winning but 11>10 and our chances of winning would’ve been bigger.

  121. Arsenalisto says:

Who saw his incident with Valdes?? while waiting for the corner to be delivered Valdes elbowed him in the chin and all he did is roll his eyes like a ….. and try to act like he’s upset about it. He was trying not to displease them at all the whole match or at least that move he obviously craves puts a reluctance on him for most of the game. Wenger got tactics right and at times it looked like the tides will swing our way, Nick could have nicked it, also logically we probably would’ve been reinvigorated and be able to survive in the tie had RVP stayed on the pitch and you could see for once we were able to construct a an attack (right after 1-1 when RVP was sent off)……sadly it wasn’t meant to be :(. Naive Cesc, they barely care about him when it comes to business on the pitch, hence the elbow and lack of respect towards anyone in Arsenal shirt including him. It’s only Pique that seems decent to him sometimes within the 90 mins.

  122. Miko says:

When a team with this much talent continues to go without silverware it comes down to two people – Coach and Captain. Would like Wilshere as Captain next year, Cesc in Barcelona, and face each other in Finals where wilshere spits in his face and Arsenal go on to beat the spanglish and begin their demise.

  123. W.A.T.H says:

KT in all honesty RVP gave us very little outlet as he was so outnumbered and swarmed upon, no sooner did we win the ball we gave it away again and they kept coming at us…! 11 v 11 funnier things have happened despite how many chances they were creating and how easily they sliced us open but we will never know cos the ref decided to make it even easier for them just to be on the safe side.

  124. Nesha says:

“your performance on the pitch was affected…”, how politely said (and weak). He was thirteenth player for his Barca (twelfths was Bussaka)

  125. me says:

Clichy. Man of the match, marked Koscienly and Djourou out of the game. Never more than five foot from them. A bit late but can someone please tell him to try and mark that fucker winger. Don’t want to sign new deal, good, fuck off, wanker.

  126. K-TR7 says:

WATH imagine if rvp was the one at the receiving end of jack’s pass…thats how tight the margins were.when barca beat the chavs they scored with their ONLY shot on the night.we’ve lost to many teams in similar fashion.

  127. W.A.T.H says:

Arsenalisto, bang on with the valdes thing and he just shrugged his shoulders…… I’d like to think pride would dictate he gave him a dig back but why all meek adn mild…? Thats not the Cesc we used too…!

  128. Arsenalisto says:

Exactly WATH, it’s too obvious when we play Barca his heart pumps blood both ways. Such a shame!

  129. W.A.T.H says:

KT agree it could of ended up like that purely cos the waiter had kept us in the game and as said before its wishful thinking that had bendy controlled the ball we would of gone though but in the cold light of day we got hammered, simple as that and we offered virtually nothing going forward, that had their 2 first choice centre halves missing and we put them under zero pressure if we are honest about it. If RVP was on it was on his right foot as well KT it may well of still been flying thru the air 🙂

  130. W.A.T.H says:

It would of been a good move for Wenger to of said to him sorry Cesc your not fit I’m not taking the risk I need players who can give me 100% for 90mins and sweat blood and tears, am afraid we didnt get anything from him tonight.

  131. PTangYangKipperBang says:

Were gonna have to endure the tiny totts giving it large when they turn over dads army tomorra damn them

  132. Arsenalisto says:

Is Nani really out til 15th or is he back? They’ll have Ferdinand and Evans back who both might start against us. Anyway it should not be based on their conditions, our team needs to respond to today’s, however I’ll take anything that could help us do that. Btw the defeat in Carling Cup and how it came had a real impact on us today, we had nothing of the confidence of the first leg.

  133. Jeremy says:

fellas let’s not forget we live in totally different cultures to the spaniards. in Barcelona people greet each other with a kiss on each side of the cheek, even upon meeting them for the first time! the barca players are childhood friends for him, let’s not ridicule him for wanting to greet them.

that being said, he was wank, although this was probably down to match fitness. ditto with van persie. rosicky and diaby tried their best but are just not going to be able to outclass xavi and iniesta. obviously our back four worked tirelessly and i thought almunia(?) and djourou had blinders, tho clichys consistent failed clearances do make my stomach turn. wilshere was definitely our most influential and passionate midfielder and was the one looking to drive us out of defence; unlike cesc who just didn’t seem
up for it. the pace and upper body strength of nasri carried our only real threat going forward. arshavin needed to be introduced earlier and bendtner fluffed a glorious chance.

but fair play, barca were incredible, and we gave them a right run for their money. it’s debatable but I really do believe that the rvp incident was game changing. you’re always chasing shadows at the camp nou, so to have to do it with 10 is damn near impossible.

still, we can hold our heads high and we are a young team. I think we know deep down that with a full strength and in form starting XI, we can beat ANYONE

  134. W.A.T.H says:

We need to play our strongest 11 on saturday no pissing abt from wenger with rotation we need to show some intent and some passion and show we not gonna roll over and die, time to make a statement saturday otherwise yep the season will be over as we’ll then fall apart in the league as well.

  135. W.A.T.H says:

Arsenalisto, Nanny has a scratch on his shin depends if he wants to play or not I reckon !! 😉

  136. Arsenalisto says:

K-T, right and that seems to always be the case with us. According to a Barca fan Mourinho once said “I love Arsenal, they come to the middle of the season and lose”. Hopefully we can respond this time.

  137. JonJon says:

the mancs have a cl match on tues
something we no longer have and we dont play again until the 19th
    best team…
    no excuses
best team and take advantage of the fact theyve been beaten twice on trot and pull their spines out..

  138. K-TR7 says:

Thats the spirit jj.i hope our players don’t drop their heads now.it would be a shame to undo a season’s work in 2 weeks.

  139. JonJon says:

utd are shite no matter who plays
fergies in the stands and nani needs a stretcher and oxygen for something we all done worse falling off our bikes when we were 5 and our mums made better with a plaster and an ice cream…
i wanna see some blood sweat and tears at the weekend..
    lets tear OT up

  140. Miko says:

Forget the Game vs Manure, need to win the league. Virtually tied for top spot with that game in hand, and if we win the games we are supposed to win, we should have a good shot at it. Only 1 game vs a top 4 team (vs Manure at Home).

  141. W.A.T.H says:

I’m off I knew I should of gone and watched down the pub, i blame myself now for the loss 2nite 😉

    lata ppl…!

  142. W.A.T.H says:

Miko, the mind set needs to be right if the mancs roll us over sat it gives them a boost and then we also get yet another kick in the nuts, we need to smash em sat and then take that into the league games…! I think sat is shit or bust for our whole season, we have to win.

  143. JonJon says:

we can beat the manc tho miko
the pl is the priority but the mancs have been taking pastings so we might as well get in on the action as well
they are down..so lets kick em and keep em down..
then go on and win the league

  144. Osi says:

El Capitan was awful. He either wanted Barca to win or he’s DNA looking up to these Barca players. I didn’t see him make one single good nor making a good pass. Sell him Wenger, he doesn’t want to play for us.

Tonight I only saw Koscielny, Djourou, Nasri playing all the others were waste of space. They all competed to pass to Barca players.

One stupid persone talked about ref. missing a penalty for foul on Messi, that foul was outside of the box, the ball was outside and Messi outside.

Ref. should have sent off Abidal and Iniesta well before VP lashing on Alves.

  145. K-TR7 says:

JJ but its scary how good they are.we virtually do that to all PL teams.they were even more majestic against madrid.their players should cut out the playacting though.

  146. Miko says:

Not saying throw the game, but dont throw the season either – van persie very sensitive right now – give him a short stint that game, tops. Man U will be without Nani. In league games where nani plays 45 min or less Manu this year are 3-1-2. and one of those was a late win at home vs wolves who outplayed them, and a narrow win away at west brom. The 2 ties were away at fullham and birmingham. We dont need to take risks to win this game, and manu will not be looking for a tie to pack in their already busy schedule.

  147. K-TR7 says:

If we win the PL i want Aw to sell some players if we are to attain European glory.this game showed just how important having a dribbling wizard playing central is.messi beat our marking freeing up space for his teammates.he disorganized us by forcing us to commit to tackles which he easily rode through.

  148. JonJon says:

    barca are pricks ktr..
rvp was twice grabbed by the throat and not a thing was done..not a card..nothing..
i dont even wanna talk about them anymore these last two games have been nothing but a bloody farce and i wouldnt lose any sleep if we never played them again..the circus that surrounds it is pathetic..

  149. Osi says:

    K-TR7 said:
“messi beat our marking freeing up space for his teammates.he disorganized us by forcing us to commit to tackles which he easily rode through”

Messi is a great player but disorganisation wasn’t by his own work, it was with the help of Diaby and Wilshere and especially, especilly Cesc. Our defenders were brilliant; tackling brilliantly, anticipating but if give the ball cheaply like Cesc did to the genius in front of you then you caught your defenders off-guard.

  150. Benj says:

Hey guys, good to see alot of passionate fans here, but I think your anger towards Cesc is a bit misdirected.

Now Im not here to argue about whether or not the ref was a douche (because I think he was for both sides) or who should/shouldn’t have got sent off, I just wanted to point something out.

Cesc basically grew up with players like Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Pedro, Valdes. They have stayed with the club, and he left, and he relishes the chance to play against them. Someone asked if Henry would do that? HE DID! I can remember seeing him a while ago playing for us vs you, shaking hands and hugging the Arsenal players pre-game and thinking ‘that is class’.

And just as a thought, what is with everyone on here trying to tell everyone else that ‘they aren’t true fans’. All I’m seeing is guys beating their chests, trying to be the biggest fan. Everyone can support the club and be true fans, they dont have to agree with you. Oh and if you are genuinely interested in talking about the game as a whole, swing by the barcelona football blog, but please dont come to troll. We get some great opposition posters (even R**l M****d fans!).

Cheers all and I honestly do hope you beat united to the title. They are the true scum.

  151. K-TR7 says:

Osi i have said it that we have a smashing defence now.its scary how good kos is and can be.jack had to cover lots of ground to make up for his midfield partners.barca also had messi which helped.

  152. K-TR7 says:

JJ we need to get rid of diaby/denilson and get a new midfielder in.i also wish along with nasri we had another dynamic dribbler.

  153. syh says:

i think tactical approch from aw totally wrong.. when we lucky get one goal from barca player aw need to start play defensive.. need to play squilacci n eboe to defend 35 minute but aw just cool n not change player even rvp sent off… how bul shit aw.. still want play like usually.. i dont know what he think .. he just think want play game an d fact that arsenal cannot play the game.. in Fact nobody in europe brave enough to play attacking when their play at nou camp.. aw mind is bullshit.. dont blame ref blame urself… fabregas sign he will leave end of the season, samir nasri i think he will leave also… n rvp also need leave because aw have no idea anymore to bring silverware.anymore aw need to retire. n arsenal board must sack him end of season…

  154. ramli says:

not wining a carling cup is heartbreak..now its a champ l is a spicy on top of that n its against the mu next who will get all the favours from f.a officials..no no & no i dont want it happens again this weekend..another loss from a officials error..1 one of my freind who is LIVERPOOL fan ask me why is OUR ARSENAL always get faked by match officials..& i think fabregas was in the line up bcos its his home town, wants his freinds & family watch him on the pitch..

  155. Osi says:

JOn JOn and K-TR, you’re all saying Wilshere was good but the fact is he tried to dribble and give the ball away far too easy. However, he wasn’t the only as I said before and Cesc had a STINKER. The only player who seemed confident of holding onto the ball was nasri.

  156. JonJon says:

he was better than cesc and diaby at least he touched the ball
im off i’ll see ya all tommorrow night guys..

  157. gunnerbill says:

sell him in the summer ,fucking prick gifted them the first aswell!
message to arsene wenger ! one player is not above the club, you should have let him go!
he doesnt want to play for us!

  158. goonerjay says:

FIFA should stop the Champions League now and award the trophy to Barcelona FC- It will save a lot of bribery of referees through the next rounds of the competition.

  159. atlanta gooner says:

ok fine even if fabregas was around his boyhood friends it doesnt make up for the disgraceful performance on the pitch.

He is NOT a leader PERIOD!
The only reason he hasthe arm band on is to make him stay and not leave for barca.

He can stay there for all i care. No player is bigger than the club. If he wasnt fit he should have known and should have put up his hand and told the manager to put someone else. it was childish on his part.

just an incident that caught my eye was winning the toss and he didnt even care if he wanted to start with the kickoff or choose the goal side.

why did jack show more heart? and btw the defense apart from sagna was top notch. if it wasnt for koz and djourou it would have been 10-0 ogh btw almunia had a blinder

  160. Minas says:

    Guys,
why all the blames on one player…its gone. We lost, not just because of Fabregas, not just because of RVP, but just because it wasnt our night. What would you say about Bedntr when he failed to control the clear pass..would it still be the reason for us losing. Accept the truth: you win, but you also lose

  161. atlanta gooner says:

and same ol excuse blame the ref…

didnt anyone see diaby fouling messi for the penalty disallowed? and koz should have had a second yellow for the penalty.

yes the second RVP yellow was ridiculous. But did the ref make RVP delibirately run into alves and try to push him? that was dumb and us gooners should say it is. Nothing plastic about being realistic fans. Some of the fans in here have blinkers in their eyes. Big club mentality doesnt exist in our fans.

  162. telboy says:

    what a ridiculous statement!
cesc is our best player by far! anyone could see he was carrying his injury but wenger picked him because we have nobody else to come in,
just because he was saying hi to his spanish team mates that he hasnt seen for a while he is an embarresment??
    get a life

  163. Adrian Tan says:

If Feb’s pass had found a gunner, believe me the game could have been different. After this defeat,Wenger better go direct instead of incessant short passes.Cut out the pretty soccer and play like Spurs.I know gooner fans will pillory me but if you want to win games, that’s the way .

  164. Anthony Timothy says:

I believe with the score level, the gunners had a great chance. Robin’s action was just what the ref needed to punish the ten gunners to play against 11.
You need not be a genius to know some of these refs cannot be trusted.
Chelsea’s game against Barcelona where the ref rejected clearcut penalties. At the end of the game ,rest assured there will many euros in these refs pockets.

  165. Leon says:

Lets just move on – we have other fish to fry so to speak – why destroy everything for this ?

  166. g-rant says:

First let me just say that I write this w/ the expectation that no one will actually read this bcuz im the 50th person to respond but I have to get this off my chest…. I’m the biggest Arsenal fan in all of America (my cousin lives in Hampstead and he’s a Manc fan, so fuck him), But, let me vent!!! Sell Fab for big $$$$!!!! Take that money and REINVEST (caps cuz fuck wenger for not) it in Mexes, Hazard and Benzema… Sell rosicky, denilson, diaby, squillachi, and almunia… Look I love EPL, and why should a Yank know better then the Chief.? Do, it, or your done Arsene!!!
    Either way Arsenal wee succeed!!!

i saw a game last night, and didn’t recognize the boys in yellow. was that our team? was that how we played on a good day? i’m not one of those who would want to hide behind the curtain of “we lost to the best team in the world”. we simply did not play football, and we go ahead and complain about other teams who play the same way against us. simply put, the way we played, we didn’t deserve to got through to the next round. in your heart of hearts,… who sincerely thinks we can win the EPL? if that display i saw last night was from a team expected to be the best in England, and win the EPL title, then i think that would be unfair to the more commited/co-ordinated teams. our hope of winning a title this season, is gradually fading away with our confidence in our team (even though many will hate to admit that), and i’d like to see whether the scales will eventually fall off wenger’s eyes to see that he can’t win anything with the present team we have, due to a lack of depth, and cover-up for first team regulars. we need a complete overhauling, with players like Fabregas (the best talent, but i think his heart is elsewhere), Rocisky, Diaby, Denilson, Almunia, Squillachi, Bendtner, Eboue, and Eastmond, sold, and better players brought into the team, as well as promotion for “effective and efficient” talented players from the youth/reserve team. together we stand!

  168. W.A.T.H says:

Noone gonna argue with you g-rant….. We need to sell the dead wood in the squad and the players who not good enough and yes we def need 2/3 players to be a great side, Wenger has needed to buy for 3 seasons yet has failed to do so every yr…! Nothing will change I’m afraid.

  169. rico says:

    morning guys and gals..

G-rant, summer sale should definately be on the cards…
Just hope wenger is thinking the same….

  170. james says:

Look we all knew hwat was going to happen last night, barca would dominate the first half like they did at the Emirates in the first leg. In the second half become more frustrated and impatient making more mistakes allowing us more possesion and time to catch them on the break the best way to play Barcelona. You cant chase them round for 90 mins that would be stupid let them pass the ball backwards and sideways all they want and then intercept the forward passes which we did well for the whole game even with 10 men but our attaks were the limited by the sending off.

The terrible sending off of RVP changed the game completely, i watched it on ESPN online and they said that there was 1 second between the wistle blowing and RVP shooting how can you call that wasting time. This allowed Busquetes to push into midfield and stop Arsenal build up play but even then we looked dangerous when we did break. As for Abidal’s choke hold, it seems that against Arsenal you can raise your hands choke and throw players to the ground and go unpunished (i.e Nolan, Barton and Abidal)but when one of our players does it its and instant dismissal i.e. Diaby V Newcastle its totally unacceptable.

People say we play the same way as Barca RUBBISH after these two games i would say fully fit, fresh and on form Arsenal would brush aside this team quite easily. They make arsenal look direct in the way they play i would like to see the percentage of those many passes they made that actually went forward last night. They seem to play side to side, backwards, side to side over and over again until the gap appears and then pass it forward which is easy to cut out as we saw last night when we had a full 11 on the field.

Im not to disappointed with the result because we lost by one goal but our players need a rest they look tired and be fare to the boys they have put alot of effort in this year so get behind them for the last 10 games we can win it they need our support so instead of slagging take it on the chin we lost to the best last night let it lie and move on

  171. The BearMan says:

Give Cesc some slack! He is not to to be blamed for last nights’ defeat. Arsenal cannot hope to play injured men and expect them to beat the current world’s best. However, if Bendtner only needed one opportunity to win a match? The opportunity was there despite everything that occurred in the match.

If only Mr. Wengers’ can see the wider picture! Arsenal in the past few seasons always falls at the final hurdles. (Meaning the close of the season) He never has a back up plan!
Also Rosiciky may look good in training, but he will continue to let us down in BiG matches. When he discovers this the season will be all done and dusted.

  172. james says:

and on another note those people who say we need to sell him and buy him SHUT UP! you know nothing.

Ok i agree we do need to sell 2 maybe 3 players as they have had a chance to shine and havnt taken it but this is true and i agree.

But who will replace them lets say for e.g we sell Bendtner, Rosicky and squillaci who will we bring in. In an ideal world 3 world class players who are happy to sit in rotation for a match every now and again to reamain fresh and fit.

In reality you would have to pay those players massive wages they would want to play every week because knowing they are world class they want to show what they can do weekly. Take a look at man city and you can see the problem there to many cooks there has to be balance have world class players in the first 11 and potential world class on the bench. This is what Arsenal do buy great players if we lose one for the first team but scout for potential so you have a conveyor belt system one out one in. This is hard because there are so few world class players and so many top teams to compete for signitures.

So grow up be real, this is the joys of supporting your club you have no control we just tag along for the ride. Just because tom, dick, and harry say we need to buy a whole new team does not mean it will happen so whats the point in saying it.

  173. rico says:

james, my post was about cesc’s pre match love in, not about selling him etc – but if some fans feel he should be sold, it’s not for you to tell them to ‘shut up’ – they have their views as do you and no-one is telling you to shut up….

  174. james says:

yeah rico i know mate i was just p’d off with some of the other comments on here about selling the entire team and buying barca lol

  175. james says:

But i dont believe we should lambast Cesc for what he did before the game but you have to remember he grew up with these boys from a young age and their all good mates ok he maybe should have did it after rather than before the game but take a look at henry in the tunnel before games he was always messing around look on youtube. What would you have said if he did it after the game “cesc’ loving after match spells the end of his arsenal career”or ” Cesc sells himself to barca after humbling night” he has been a stallwart for us a leader by example not by his mouth to say sell him after one bad match which he will have every now and again plus he is afterall supposidly injured this is terrible support of a great player

  176. W.A.T.H says:

I think your being a bit sentimental with Cesc james, Henry did it with the odd mate in the tunnel but not the whole team and a team thats been tapping him up all year and with players who have been talking crap about him all season, its just not on and I think shows a lack of focus and also a bit of disrespect to us fans, You don’t do it when you should be leading by example and the big love in was bang out of order, As for being injured I said in 50 times last night he should not of been in the team full stop, either he told wenger he was fit or wenger took a huge risk and either way one of them was also out of order.

  177. rico says:

I’m with WATH jsmes, this is a group of players touting for our captain to join them, cecs knows how us fans ‘love’ him, the way he bahaved was just so disrespectful…

  178. guun2726 says:

If any other manager was playing Barca they would not have tried to play them at their own game. The biggest thing in our favour was being from the Premier League and all the hustle that goes with it. Wenger tried and failed massively over 2 games to play football against them, which suited them fine, thats the reason we are out. Any other EPL team, even Stoke would have roughed them up & had a go. We have no leader & no fight anymore & thats from the top down. As much as it hurts to say it, watch the spuds tonight go all out for AC milan, even if they get knocked out (i hope) they’ll have tried. we didnt even try. gutted.

  179. james says:

yeah i agree but unfortunatly all his mates are playing for barca there is nothing we can do about it this thing is being blow out of proportion because we lost would you ignor your mate if u played him on a sat/sun because he plays for the other team i know for a fact that cesc and hleb had a friendly chat with eachother befor the brum cup final dosnt mean hes going to engineer a move to birmingham. but you go on about disrespect to the fans what about the fans disrespect to players like squillaci, Eboue, Bendtner and so on they didnt flirt with anyone ok they may have put in a poor performance here and there but they are human and considered second string so you can understand their frustration but it doesnt matter if they turn out in an arsenal shirt they should have our support we should be giving messages like chin up lads poor performance last night but you know your better lets kick on sat.

For all i care cesc could say he wants to move to barca in june but he is still a quality player and as long as he plays to his potential i will support him anjd the team because he makes us a different team

  180. rico says:

james, i’m not doubting him as a quality player, just sometimes a match is more important than your mates… until it’s over…

  181. Gunning hawt says:

i don’t think fab is a disgrace. he just didnt play as a captain. lackluster performance. no captain spirit. uncalled for backheel in front of the the box. he should have understudied whilshere or Nasri yesterday. ur apologies are accepted but you need to redeem yourself
