Cazorla setback, Striker departs, Winger could follow & Robin meets his potential new team mates…

Morning Gooners,

Neil Lennon has heard all the stories about Arsenal and Manchester United keeping an eye on Victor Wanyama but he’s not about to let his guy go:

He is a quality young player but like I said before he is our player and we are very pleased to have him here.

So you might be Mr Lennon but just like most clubs, you will sell if the right price is offered but not sure if there is much truth in us thinking about making an offer for him?

Can’t go a day without mentioning Robin, no matter how hard I try and here he is with his new team mates.

Nobby No Mates 🙂

Only kidding of course, but it does seem as if no other club ‘really’ wants him.

Robin will be travelling to Germany next week with the squad to train and face FC Cologne. Suggestion is he has stepped up his fitness programme and is ready for the new season. Whether that is with us or not is a different matter but considering Juventus are supposed to have set a deadline date for August 7th for any deal with them to be completed, this move would suggest that our captain will not be heading to Italy this summer.

That no doubt opens the door for a battle between the two Manchester sides for his signature or maybe Barcelona will make a move for him, after all they seem to like signing our players.

Whatever happens, I’m sure being in Germany, training with the likes of Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla and maybe even Sahin he might start to think again.

Talking of Santi Cazorla, the delay in announcing his arrival is down to problems in Malaga:

According to Sky Sports News there will be no official confirmation regarding the signing of Santi Cazorla from Malaga, due to confusion which has arisen over who is signing off on the transfer from the Spanish club, until this issue can be resolved.

This will hopefully be resolved over the weekend and his signing should be confirmed soon, together with Nuri Sahin I hope.

One on his way out for a season though is young Benik Afobe, he is heading off to Bolton to join Owen Coyle in the Championship and Wigan are trying to secure a loan for Ryo Miyaici which will only benefit his career.

Not a lot else in the news today, the reserves feature in another friendly later against Chesham United and if you are going, keep an eye out for Jack Jebb. I remember watching him when Arsenal had their own television channel, he was pretty darn good then so he should be even better by now.

Oh and finally, Ivan Gazidis has joined the FA’s Professional Game Board (PGB) and the FA Council ahead of the 2012/13 season.

Exciting news eh? Well he thinks so:

I am delighted to be joining these important footballing bodies. The appointments mean Arsenal will be represented in many of the key debates in the game both here in the UK and in Europe.

Hope he doesn’t neglect his Arsenal duties along the way….

Team GB were beaten 2-0 by Canada last night in the Women’s Football quarter-finals so they’ll be a few sad Arsenal Ladies today…

There’s an interesting article in The Daily Mail, yes, The Daily Mail relating to the introduction of the new Barclays Under-21 Premier League which will be launched later this month. Arsenal will be grouped in with Blackburn, Bolton, Everton, Norwich, Reading, West Brom and West Ham.

That’s it for today, have a good one all…..

Ha ha uk, didn’t you do that last Saturday…

I’m not getting too worried, it’s only a paperwork thing with Malaga because of all that is going on at the club. Wouldn’t have thought it takes too much sorting…

    I hope anyway..

  2. Thorny says:

So will Cazorla travel aswell? Is this just a delay in “confirmation” for the public or has he not actualy signed yet? This RVP saga is well worth watching now.

  3. rico says:

As far as I can work out Thorny, the deal is done with us, medical passed, fee and terms agreed.

I still have a feeling he’ll stay, especially if we do get Cazorla and Sahin…

  4. Thorny says:

Yeah me too rico, Its always been stay or Juve for me as the danger of looking like a complete twat moving inside the prem and coming below us are becoming more realistic with the signings. Some players wouldnt care but RVP would hate to look stupid.

  5. Thorny says:

A couple of mates have told me that Sahin can be a pain, all about his hair do etc. These are S African mates of mine who watch alot of R madrid. Any thoughts? I guess his record in Germany stands for alot.

  6. Iyke Oriji says:

Just look at those fixtures! YES WE CAN, we need to be strong, the fixtures neva favour us for ones.LETS MEAN BUSINESS

  7. rico says:

Really don’t want him going to either of the mancs Thorny, abroad or stay…

Haven’t heard that about Sahin, many reckon he’s the mutts 🙂

  8. rico says:

Iyke, our fixtures are tough, we have to hope that any new signings hit the ground running…

He’ll learn a lot from Martinez Satan

  9. Satan says:

Oh, Hey Rico…Hello to everyone.. Any Federer fan out there? You know Del Potro and Fedex redefined never say die yesterday. None of them were ready to lose. Epic!!!!

Hope our team learns from them.

  10. GonerEris says:

It wouldn’t be right that we went out to get the players in order to satisfy the whims of our captain. I do hope we have made the signings for the club’s progress, not to please any player. While I would love to have RvP stay, I am convinced he won’t be sorely missed if we do bring in the right players.

  11. Satan says:

Rico, apart from Wenger and Moyes, he’s my favorite manager. How many times did Wigan got robbed off points last year? Even after that he never lost hope and was always dignified. Hats off to him. Hats off to even David Whelan who is just as good owner to back him up with what ever he earns from Wigan.

  12. Satan says:

    @GE

Its not for Captain. Its for us to clinch best shirt deals possible. I know O2 has backed out from sponsoring football teams but I still hope to see O2 back. Aah Good old days!!! Nostalgic…

  13. EastSidePaul says:

Wouldn’t it take all of 5 minutes to decided who is signing off on the deal??

Hope this doesn’t threaten the deal!

  14. rico says:

    GEris –

I’m not sure we have, any signings are for the squad, not for one player, we needed Giroud and Podolski, regardless of what RvP said. We also need Cazorla and Sahin, or someone similar to the latter…

  15. rico says:

I know Satan, you may have mentioned it 😉

Depends who is at the club Esp, haven’t they sacked most of them… lol

  16. Satan says:

    ESP:

On loan with an option to buy. He’s supposed to play ‘Arteta’ role. And he coming permanently is all dependent on Jack.

  17. rico says:

I thought he was an attacking midfielder Esp, but I was very wrong, he sits deep i think but not a ‘defensive midfielder’ if that makes sense …

  18. ukpunisher says:

@rico dont think so about last weekend.. 🙂

ive said a lot RVP will be average at best this years stay or go….godd business to cash in – guaranteed hell either getinjured or he’ll blame all the transfer saga on a drop in form…

  19. rico says:

It’s a loan deal with a £17m price set if we want to sign him permanently according to reports – he has to choose now bewtween us and Galatassary…

  20. rico says:

Oops, sorry Uk, my mistake 😉

we don’t know that for sure though, he may have another injury free season and score even more goals…

  21. gunners357 says:

cazorla is an aresnal player already. he signed an official contract arsenal have paid money theres no ripping up contract or giving money back. lets calm down gooners and now be anxious for the sahin deal

  22. rico says:

Yes Esp, and Jose has said he will struggle to play because of Alonso and Diarra being in front of him. Another player too I think, but can’t recall his name..

  23. Satan says:

    Rico,

Jose is willy manager. He bought Sahin for 8-12mln and didn’t play him much and wasted him for a year and now he wants him to go out on loan and with buying option for the club @ 17million.

  24. rico says:

That why he’s ‘special’ Satan 😉

Can’t stand him though, even if he is going to help us out with this loan…

  25. oputa chinedu says:

good morning all,I’ll like to have an update about the fitness level of both giroud and poldoski

  26. rico says:

OC – no doubt AW will update us when there is something to update, both are physically fit but a bit behind in pre-season…

  27. GonerEris says:

Seen a video of Sahin in action for Dortmund. He was kind of an Iniesta style midfielder; yet, at other times, you could find him coming in from deep lying areas. Maybe, a box to box type and only Wenger will know just how he would be deployed if/when he joins up.

  28. rico says:

If/when is the big one – he’s got a chance to go to Turkey too, guess he best hurry up and make his mind up..

  29. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! I don’t know anything about this Sahin; but i do wish we’d get M’Vila. It seems to have gone all quiet on him though.

    I love the picture, rico. 🙂 🙂

  30. Adam says:

Short and sweet Agag. Out and back. I just got back from going out for coffee and a cake with Mrs Adam. On the way back we were walking past a local boutique where Mrs Adam has done plenty of damage to my credit card before. She spots the word SALE on the winow, so in we go. A half hour later we exit with Mrs Adam clutching a bag with two new tops, one of them an Escada silk blouse. I have to admit to its loveliness though. Agag, you would have been proud of her. I am sitting down in recovery.

  31. agirlagunner says:

It’s been raining here for a week, rico. 😕 Makes even dinner plans such an effort… 🙂 And you?

  32. rico says:

We have similar here – one minute a downpour the next very tropical..

Off to get some turf shortly, at least it will start growing rapidly 🙂

  33. rico says:

😆 Adam, headache and broke by the sounds of it, at least Mrs A’s spending adds weight to your desire to do similar on a new shiny motor car

  34. Lee says:

My wife uses this ploy, if I comment on a new item she’s sporting, she tries to diffuse the situation by saying that it’s old and I obviously don’t pay enough attention…..

  35. Adam says:

Rico. The car is contingent on several things happening in the right order. A lottery win would be nice but I am not relying on it. If I was a cabbie money would obviously not be an issue. 🙂

  36. rico says:

🙂 Adam – A lottery win would be more than welcome for me too, a new house would be soon on my agenda….

  37. agirlagunner says:

Mrs Adam should blog, too. S-A-L-E in red are my favorite letters on earth. 😀 😀 Well-done, Mrs Adam, well-done. 🙂 🙂 Escada is very expensive here though. I guess it is expensive anywhere.

rico, I’m sure you’d miss Robin’s thighs when he leaves, but maybe Poldi’s and Giroud’s would compensate for the loss. 😀

Hi, Lee! Good to hear about the sunshine in your parts!

  38. Lee says:

I had to some bills to pay and was reminded by my wife yesterday, unfortunately I forgot. When I explained this to her this morning, she said that “I was as much use as a one legged man in an arse kicking competition” A tad unfair I thought……

  39. rico says:

A magpie tried to peck one of my guinea pigs eyes out once whilst she was outside in her run. Thankfully I was close by with a broom in my hand 🙂

I’d miss his left foot more agag 😉

  40. agirlagunner says:

Mrs Lee’s “It’s old…” statement is every woman’s default response to purchases they do not want to have to “defend”. Mrs Lee is very smart. 😉

rico, I’d happily step on his left foot if he went to either of the Manc teams.

Hello, ukpunisher, I see you came second today. 😀

  41. rico says:

Did that make you think of RvP Lee 😆

Ha ha Adam, it’s for the area where the chicks are..

I know Uk, but if he stays, I’m hoping I am right, if he goes, I hope you are 😉

  42. Lee says:

Agag, down right sneaky I call it! The shoe mountain keeps on growing anyone would of thought I’d married an octopus!!

  43. Adam says:

Don’t tell me Rico. You’ve got 10 pairs of designer Wellies. :). I can’t get a ticket for any event though.

  44. agirlagunner says:

But the cost of shoes is nothing compared to watches and cars, Lee. 😉 🙂 “Shoe mountain”– I’d happily have that.

rico, you have a lot of pets, don’t you?

    adam @ 12:25 😆

  45. Adam says:

Just imagine the sub blogs the HHousers could come up with. Everything from food, wine, watches through to financial ruin and chicken keeping. Still on a slow news day, it’s fun and there will be plenty to moan about once the football starts.

  46. Adam says:

Rico talks to the animals Agag. Her full name is Rico Dolittle. 🙂
Mind you, I love animals too. So much more reliable than homo sapiens.

  47. rico says:

Has to be Hunters Lee 😉 You are spot on….

Couldn’t agree more Adam, a bit of down-time, fun time is just what is needed sometimes…

  48. rico says:

Wish I could Adam, at least i might get to have a sensible conversation face to face with some of them 😉

  49. rico says:

Guess I best get going off to B&Q, hope there is nice Saturday Lad on duty who will carry my turfs to the car 😆

Back in a little while, enjoy the day guys..

  50. Adam says:

And that is what differentiates HH from all other blogs Rico. Through your kind stewardship the place has become a bit of a social site with friendships being formed and consideration being shown. Arsenal is at the root of our passion but it’s the participants that make the site. This place is the antithesis of Le Grove. No disrespect to them intended but on there abuse and confrontation is encouraged. Here civility and debate are the way. You deserve a lot of praise for that Rico and I hope you are blushing right now. 🙂

  51. rico says:

But is folk like you two that make it what it is……

Now I must go, hopefully my facial colouring will soon return to normal

    😉

  52. agirlagunner says:

It’s been aaages since I visited Le Grove, but the things that some of the bloggers there say just turn the stomach. Ick.

rico polices her site well. 🙂 I love it here. 😉

  53. alanbstardmp says:

So, the last couple of days Carzo is here he’s in. See what I mean about getting the subject accurate?

    for agag

  54. agirlagunner says:

What do you mean about Carzola, alan? I’m confused.

Who are The Zoot?? I must say this is better than the Beatles original. 🙂

  55. alanbstardmp says:

Agag last couple of days they have been saying the guy is one of us. People place up misleading headlines

great song eh! Zoot was a Aussie band and the jead singer, Darryl Cotton passed away this week

  56. agirlagunner says:

The guy IS one of us, alan. 🙂 You can’t tell me otherwise. I’m just not gonna believe ya. 😀 😀 😉 The headings aren’t misleading so much as “true” at the time. Or hopeful. Ha!

RIP Daryly Cotton. However do you unearth these vids? 😀

  57. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners.
    Afternoon Rico & Agag.

Been to the dentist, umm, gotta numb gum…

But Agag you made me larf.
So Lee has sunshine around his ‘parts’…..?!
Hmm, knew he shouldn’t have had that Bombay Aloo on Thurs’.. 😉

    Cazorla is a Gunner….. End of…!
    Sahin by Weds’ I reckon…
    With more to come…
    LG, never bother anymore Agag.

If they can allow Gambore to abuse Rico, then they can spin…

  58. agirlagunner says:

Ahaha, AK. 🙂 Cheeky. I meant his part of the planet of course. Are you “lithping”? I always go all lispy after I’ve gone to the dentist. 😀 Sounds like you gents had fun on Thursday. You watching the match live?

I don’t go to LG so it doesn’t really bother me either. 😀

alan, their hairstyle makes me smile. Or laugh. 😀

  59. Micko says:

Kev, look after your teeth and they’ll look out for you !
Rico, if it’s turf your after I’ve got plenty of bags.
Another quiet day, not even any Song tantrums.

  60. agirlagunner says:

Boo, Micko. I decide to stay in because it’s raining, and now there’s not a drop of rain. Grrrr.

  61. Micko says:

Agag, if I stayed in because it was raining I’d never get out of the house !!!
Because of all the rain this summer the sales have started early in the UK to encourage people out shopping again, pay back time.

Alan, glad to see you cheered up a bit.

  62. allezkev says:

No Agag, I almost decided to go at the last minute, but I had to work, in order to try and remain wealthier than Adam…
    I can’t keep up with Lee though… 😉

  63. allezkev says:

Talking of AlanMP & his vids, what’s happened to Smudge.
Music thru the night from the Smudger!
So Mick, you had a hosepipe ban then?

  64. agirlagunner says:

Smudger posts some real good vids, AK? Where is he? and SSP? and Dutch?

Micko, lemme see if there are online sales. 😀

  65. Micko says:

Hosepipe bans unheard of over here.
We don’t even pay for water, something the government will be changing over the next 12 months, introducing water meters to every house next year.
The best things in life are free but the government is working on that.

Once Smudger has a few beers in him there’s no stopping him.

  66. agirlagunner says:

    Not pay for water? Wow!

As for arsenal.com. One really has to wonder why that site’s been awarded the best official football website. The layout’s pretty. But that’s about it.

  67. southyorkshiregunner says:

What country are you in Micko?
We were being hit by an annual water bill of £1300. We had a water meter put in and its looking like around £400+ per annum.

We had a house over in Cyprus and that was less than £100 per year

  68. southyorkshiregunner says:

Kicker are reporting that a deal for Arsenal to secure Sahin full time is “not unlikely”.

  69. Micko says:

Paul, the water is free, unless your running a business, don’t tell me your a cattle farmer in your spare time.

  70. Micko says:

SYG, didn’t the greek government bring in a law where if you had a swimming pool you had to pay a tax and about 300 people came forward lol.
I’m in Ireland, there finally copping themselves on.

  71. allezkev says:

Rennes making noises about M’Vila’s availability…
    Likewise Capoue’s club.
Wonder if the big pay-day they were expecting, is fading away, with the retaliation that Arsenal are more interested in Sahin..???
Or is that what Wenger intended, in order to get the price down?????

  72. Satan to Saint says:

    Kev

    I guess we all did.

But I was just watching one of the trends and I came across so much garbage. I mean if you get freedom of speech doesn’t mean you misuse it. God I am so stunned. Shocked.

  73. Adam says:

Reports, probably from a Man Utd source, suggest they are in for Sahin. This possibly indicates a strategy too tiresome to discuss. I see that Stewart Robson is telling Arsenal to accept £12 million for van Persie. Is this man a natural-born knob or has he had to work at it. As if anyone is going to take the slightest interest in what he has to say. He seems to have carved out a money-making niche for himself by slaughtering Wenger, the club and the team at every opportunity.

  74. Satan to Saint says:

    @Adam

Mate, its freedom of speech. The knob heads always get benefit of it. Ask that Spurs’ fan who got Pong 6000 fine. After saying horribe things. Any actions against him? No. We live in mad mad world.

  75. Adam says:

S2S. ’tis true indeed. Freedom of speech is hard one and should be used with care and respect however and not to spread discord and hatred.

  76. rico says:

Syg, just hope Wenger wants him 🙂

Robson is indeed a twurp Adam

Micko, I never want to see another turf but thanks for the offer 😉

Kev – hope your teeth hurt less than your pocket 😉

  77. southyorkshiregunner says:

Just back in with the dogs ……
Capoue? We’ll see Rico. Hope he’s as good as you claim….LOL Everyone will hold you responsible.

We never had a swimming pool Micko. Just a house in Vrysoulles.

Mallorca want Djourou, nice one. Hope there’s some substance in it.

  78. rico says:

Hi Syg, What dogs do you have??

I’m taking devil’s word on how good Capoue is, a beast apparently 🙂

  79. allezkev says:

Sorry Satan, I had a few jobs, thankfully…
Didn’t quite get what you meant mate, having a thicko day I suppose!
Did you mean that you’ve reading some nonsense on other blogs?

  80. allezkev says:

I am increasingly irritated by that coaching failure that is Stewart Robson.
Ex-Brentwood Public School,Ex-Arsenal, Currant Talk Rubbish Radio pundit…
Does anyone know when and where he earned his UEFA A License.

  81. allezkev says:

Rico, my railings are pearly and my pocket is surly…
Got to keep up my cheeky chappie appearance.
    My punters expect it…

  82. rico says:

I have never liked that man, ever since he started ripping into us on Setanta..

He’s no doubt bitter and twisted since getting the sack over his comments about Theo…

  83. allezkev says:

Great to see Jebb, Akpom and Lipman score…
Still a long way to go for these kids and a lot of work still to do, but these lads have the potential to be very very special….
La Masia…. Make way for Hale End…

  84. allezkev says:

Robson won’t last long Rico, he’s a fraud, even Talk Rubbish will tire of him.
Repeatetive nonsense, no tactical analysis backing up the crap he churns out.
Tbh, he’s becoming a parody of himself.
    At times he is cringeworthy.

  85. rico says:

Hi bondex, everyone is missed when they are not here, except me 😆

Like i say Kev, never liked the two faced twurp…. 😉

Who is the mackerel? Capoue or M’Vila 🙂

    Dinner calls, back very soon….

  86. rico says:

All quiet here so I’m going to take advantage and have an early one, going to watch Jess Ennis is the last round of the Heptathlon and Mo Farah a bit later….

Make take a peep a GB in the footie as well, good night ahead for me 🙂

    Nighty all, stay safe…..

    ‘Til tomorrow….

  87. EastSidePaul says:

Evening all, if you haven’t read them already the articles entitled Arsenal: The New Era by I.J. Yarison on the the bleacherreport.com are excellent!

Sahin and M’vila to be pipped away from us by clubs with worse scouting than us? Whats new!

  88. Adam says:

The Bleacher Report is an exquisite publication and the only site that I really take any notice of. I think of it as the Talk Sport of the Internet.

  89. allezkev says:

    I am concerned.
Adam is developing an unhealthy obsession with the Bleacher Report…
Next, he’ll be coming on and bigging up Caught Offside or the incomparable Transfer Tavern….
Myself, I look no further than FootyLatest.com & that most memorable organ of originality that is FootballFansCast.com…
Two rumour blogs of the highest quality and integrity…

Please excuse me for a few moments whilst I visit the toilet to throw up…

  90. Scott fom Oz says:

Nah,I’ve just finished a lovely chicken schnitzel…..lovely dinner.
    Morning all.
A quiet one last night,I see!

  91. rico says:

    Morning Scott,

OG’s I suspect, I know they had me fixed on the television until quite late, a great day for GB…

  92. Scott fom Oz says:

Is it looking ever more likely that RVP will be staying?
It’s going to be very, very interesting if he does.

  93. Scott fom Oz says:

Aussies are causing a world shortage of silver!!
Our us can’t seem to get across the line, but that’s how it goes.
We did spank you guys in the Basketball though……that was nice lol.
