Cazorla & Arteta to leave, three and in, plus more to follow.

Morning All,

Well with the social media frenzy and the gossip columns going into meltdown with the Alexis Sanchez deal, it’s exciting being an Arsenal supporter for a change during a transfer window.

We are not only buying Sanchez but if all the rumours are true, it seems that Debuchy and Loic Remy will also soon be unveiled as Arsenal players.

Arsenal fans the world over are pretty happy at the moment and it’s long overdue for us to be so happy about the club buying in quality players.

The deals all have to be confirmed and rubber stamped and if they fail to materialise, it will be like the Titanic not docking on it’s maiden voyage, a bit of a sinking feeling……

We’re told the Debuchy deal is done and will be announced once Newcastle have a replacement. Loic Remy will bolster the attack add extra quality  and speed up front along with the imminent arrival of Alexis Sanchez who we are just waiting for to arrive with bells and whistles for his medical.

The Sanchez signing really is a signing of intent and ambition and he’ll be the player that we’ve need up front for a while now. He can lead the line, drop off and play wide and with a great work ethic. He sounds almost to good to be true.

I find it almost surreal that Arsenal seem to have got the ball rolling early in the transfer window and have hopefully learned from past mistakes.

Is this the end of the buying…? I think not.

We all know we need a central midfielder to give us more bite and to help out defensively. That player could be Schneiderlin, Khedira, one of the Bender twins or someone we haven’t yet been linked with us but I think it’s safe to say we’re going to get in a midfielder as well.

Does this impact on any of our current players?

If Santi Cazorla does want to return to Spain do we let him go…?

Do we have players in the squad to replace him or would be have to buy to replace him?

If we sign one of the above central midfielders does it mean we let Mikel Arteta leave or do we keep the squad as strong as possible knowing he is a valuable member of the squad and a great player to have in the camp?

If we bring in three or four players over the next week or so then we could sit back and cherry pick a few players later in the transfer window when we see what teams are desperate to sell for financial reasons or get a a player who is desperate to leave a club but other clubs have spent all their money.

What a huge turnaround that would be for us to use our finances to our advantage rather then have others come and pilfer our best players as has happened in years gone by.

At what point is loosing a few squad players evened out by buying far superior players….?

At what point do we lose a player and think well, we have three younger players who can grab that spot….?

A lot to think about and very very exciting times it seems.

We’ve missed the buzz of buying quality players and if all goes to plan then we can look at the squad soon enough and say yes, this squad is very very competitive….. That’s all we’ve asked for now for years.

Lets make it count Arsenal, let’s get these players in and let’s push on from last years FA Cup win.

Also a very well done to the Arsenal players in the German squad, amazing result last night.

That’s your lot, have a great day..

    Morning all…

That’s a post from an excited Mr Wath, I like it 🙂

Must admit, I too am a tiny bit excited with what could possibly be ahead for us fans this summer – and I can see Santi and Arteta being allowed to leave if they really want to.

    Especially Santi….

  3. rogerbij says:

Top post, fueling my S-crack addiction reliably again, with an added hit of Remy. Delightful. Personally I love Santi, so would not let him go – When Ozil doesnt spark he invariably does, like the FA cup final. And he has passion.

Arteta – I’d let him go only if he really wants to leave. Im imagining a run in all 4 competitions so we need depth and he has plenty to contribute next season. They way I see it, these (rumoured) buys are to fill and strengthen existing gaps. We have never had a surplus of good players so Im not keen start offloading yet…

Oh happy days. Holland to win tonight!

  4. Nickie says:

    Morning all,

Loving the positive post Rico! 🙂

It’s been so long since we’ve had so much positivity this early in a summer transfer window. We may look back at 2012 with Caz, Pod and Giroud but we had lost RVP etc.

Good all round feel this time round. I say keep hold of all players, older players deals are running down anyway and it’s not worth shipping their experience on for peanuts. Every player is useful in our current squad.

Wasn’t too keen on Remy but with Sanchez coming in he’s a very good choice for squad depth.

  5. bondex says:

Good post WATH … important questions needing answers. They should both stay imo. To make the team feared,we need different kinds of players. Imagine that in the end,the players considered to be on the substitutes bench are the likes of santi just bcos the players on the pitch are far superior. Fingers crossed, exciting times ahead.

  6. Wath says:

I think we also need to keep our experienced players…! The only one I would not be unhappy about going is TV although I want a replacement for him brought in for sure. Santi and Mikel brings us experience and nous but are also good for the sqaud and if the younger players are to step up then you need players like that in the squad.

  7. rico says:

    On a serious note.

Afc, if they really do have staff ready the websites, they should see what is happening amongst the fans, well most of us. Our moods have changed, the positivity is returning and if all these deals are pulled off, AW will be sat on the sidelines with most fans backing and support.

The hostility/nerves within the stadium will be gone, the fans will be excited, not sat full of fear.

This really could be ‘the summer’ of change…..

She types as Arsene Wenger turns the next page of his new book called:

‘Football for 2015 at it’s best and how to play it’…..

    🙂

  8. Wavy says:

Agreed re Holland, not because I like them but because I think the Argies, like Brazil are vastly overrated. Don’t think well see the same result as last night, it will be much much closer, but let’s hope football wins and thuggery doesn’t.

New signings…..I’ll believe it/them when I see it on dot com! As I’ve said several times before! You never grow out of cynicism. Once you’ve caught it you find it is a lifelong condition not even illegal drugs can do anything to assuage its terrors!

‘S’, Debauchery (he is French after all,) plus a couple of others well we’ll see. Not reached breath holding stage yet!

  9. Luznic says:

Morning Lady and gentlemen, Santi is staying he just signed a new contract at the end of last season, he is a regular in Arsenal no one can displace him and Arteta also stays don’t forget AW rates him so much, if they leave where is the squad depth we have been asking of and Poldi stays also……….everyone stays except NikieB

  10. Nickie says:

Agree Wath, I’d be disappointed if TV was to leave. Taking the easy way out imo. Why not stay and fight, he’s captain (was captain hopefully, mert to take the honours). He’s a decent player and can still have another 5-6 great years. Why Man U aswell….it sickens me, Clichy, Nasri, Toure, RVP, Ade, Verm and more all at our rivals

  11. rico says:

I agree about the experience Wath, kids don’t learn from kids and Arteta, as someone said earlier, is a top top role model for any young player.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see him stay, nor Santi, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they went either…

Big season ahead for Gnabry I think, a year older and wiser and he has already shown how good he could be, he’ll be like a new signing…. 🙂

  12. ktr7 says:

Good read again.am glad the Germans destroyed Brazil.no sympathy for them from me.however…

What does a section of the media have against Ozil?…on a night Klose broke the worldcup record, Muller at 24 notched his 10th worldcup goal, Brazil suffered their worst ever defeat and their 1st loss in a competitive match on home soil in over 4 decades can you hazard a guess the headline of the dailymail article…

“Mesut Ozil barely has a kick as Schurrle sparkles as Germany destroy Brazil…”

WOW!it was taken down soon after but how desperate can someone be?…he was an attacker in a team that scored 7.what more do they want?…we should ban some of these papers like rednose did to BBC.Protect our players more.

Mesut mate let your football do the talking.

  13. frednerk says:

So what is a defensive midfield player,
is he a defender playing their to put his boot in,
is he a forward who likes a tackle,
is he a deep lying player with vision,
is he a player who gets from box to box,
is he player that spots danger before the rest of the team,
    is he a big geezer,
is he good in the air,
Watching Khadira last envolving himself in all the aspects a player needs to win a midfield,he would give us the player we need for sure.

  14. Wath says:

Luz, I agree we need quality throughout the squad and they are all very good players. They know the club and their team mates and thats hard to replace when you bring a new player in.

Nickie, hear what you saying but maybe we have seen info on TV that says he’s injury prone…? I want Ginter brought in and I’ll be happy to see TV leave and to whom is of no concern if an honest.

  15. rico says:

If TV goes, we need a top class replacement imo.

I know this will upset a few, but, and as much as I love Merts, I struggle to believe he will get through a season like he did last time around.

  16. gunner12 says:

Spain perform badly at one world cup and suddenly both our Spanish players are on their way out xD

  17. Wath says:

Did you actually read the post gunner12… where does it say anything about Spain having a bad world cup being relative to the question asked about could Mikel and Santi be leaving..?

  18. rico says:

    Morning luznic.

Kt, it’s all down to him being Arsenal imo, who cares, let him come back, start again and have a top season which I’m sure he will…

And, as Potter mentioned last night, some of the passes fed to him were woeful. Great shame he dragged his shot wide, would have shut the idiots up….

  19. rico says:

gunner12 – considering Arteta doesn’t feature for Spain and Santi barely played, your assumption is bizarre. And bearing the post says nothing about the Spanish team anyway, makes your comment sound even more bizarre…

  20. ktr7 says:

I know rico but it annoys me so much.I hope mesut comes back and tears it up with us.am tired of seeing him torn down so often by clueless journalists.

  21. Wath says:

Rico now your taking the pee…. short sharp snappy and exciting…. That sums up “S” very well lol 😉

  22. rico says:

Don’t let it annoy you Kt, laugh at it. We know what he can do if he has the right players around him, we saw it at Arsenal when he first arrived.

He’s had a tough season settling in, many players do, second one will be a different ball game altogether, especially if we sign who we think and hope we do…

  23. GG says:

Even with Debuchy – why aren’t we buying Aurier who can play C/B too? £8m??? Even if he’s poor we can recoup more than that if we sell him!

Khedira looked great last night, but Lars Bender would be the man to make Arsenal Title winners.

    Sanchez is a SENSATIONAL signing!!!!

    And Santi’s going nowhere!

  24. Scott From Oz says:

Guys, I believe the tide has been turning for our club since the day we signed Podolski.
Our signings since then have been fantastic.
That signing of a true international quality player, and early In the window, showed intent, and each signing since has reinforced that.
I don’t believe Arsenal read what we post, I believe most fans were misreading the situation, or underestimating the impact our financial restraints had on us.
Plenty ran out of patience, rightly or wrongly.
I’m glad for those fans, for those of us who stayed positive, and for everyone concerned at Arsenal FC that things are changing.
    We all deserve it.

  25. Wath says:

GG, why buy a RB who could play CB… isn’t that what we done for years bought round pegs for square holes…..?

If we want a centre back then buy a centre back, we don’t need Aurier with Debuchy when we have Jenks and Bellerin as well.

  26. Nickie says:

Ozil abuse is terrible. He’s actually playing clever under the radar football. And if Muller and Klose could look up on the counter he is almost certainly free on the left hand side in a great position. I’ve been impressed by his tracking back this WC never really saw that for Arsenal

  27. Luznic says:

it was a lovely day as Brazil lost scandalously to the Germans, I still maintain my tournament predictions which is now very obvious……..Germany to win it

  28. AndrewH says:

If we let Santi, Verm, Podolski go (along with Vela and Fabi fees) we will have regrouped all the money spent. I hope we are not back to those days. Lets be able to rotate, rest, and still compete on all fronts. Not that we’ve bought anyone yet 😉

  29. ktr7 says:

    Fantastic piece from the independent.

Mesut Ozil was born into the wrong
generation of footballers. It’s plain to
see when he comes across the media. He
lives and works in an era which
demands his every move be observed,
and yet Ozil prefers to slink off into the
shadows. Time and again, he darts past
reporters, casting only a grateful glance
at whichever team-mate is diverting the
    hounds away.
LIVE: The latest from Brazil vs Germany
His behaviour is no different on the
football pitch. Players like Ozil should,
we believe, sparkle at every moment.
They should make us gasp. We should
marvel at their sub-human capacities to
move a football. They should, as Nike
tells us without a trace of self-awareness,
    risk everything.
Ozil, petulant as he is, bluntly refuses to
meet those requirements. He makes no
mazy runs. He attempts no 40 yard
    bicycle kicks. Instead, he moves
    imperceptibly around the football pitch,
often barely touching the ball, slinking
    into the shadows.

It drives the football world crazy.
Arsenal fans are at a loss to why they
spent such astronomical sums on such a
player. Paul Breitner believes that Ozil
    should be dropped from Germany’s
    starting line-up. The nation’s skiing
    sensation Felix Neureuther insists that
Ozil “drives me crazy with his lack of
    bite”.
Bite. Energy. Pace. Those are the virtues
we idolise in the modern day. Ozil
utilises few of them. His game is, and
has always been, about selflessness. He
    creates space, often drawing several
defenders out of position. He finds the
    most astonishing through balls. He
    enables the great superstars.
The greatest superstar of all, Cristiano
Ronaldo, knew this. He adored working
with Ozil at Real Madrid and
    affectionately named him “The
    Sorcerer’s Apprentice”. It was a
    strikingly poetic moment from the
Portuguese, and a rather accurate one at
that. Ozil is a magician, insofar as he
    makes things happen without the
spectator noticing he has done so. He is
the apprentice, in that he hands the
    limelight to his more extravagant
    contemporaries.
He is not always magical, of course.
Much of the time, he is as ineffectual as
Neureuther claims. In his first season at
Arsenal, he has shown only the
occasional glimpse of his genius, and at
the World Cup he has only been slightly
    better.
But then for the last few years, Ozil has,
by chance as well as by misjudged
design, been leading a life unsuited to
him. His price tag at Arsenal pushed him
into the role of Sorcerer, rather than
apprentice. That didn’t suit him. The cult
of his identity in advertising and social
media was something that his advisors –
not least his father – appear to have
cultivated far beyond the levels which
suit a man like Mesut Ozil. He has, both
on the pitch and off it, been dragged
forcefully out of the shadows and
paraded stark naked through the marble
    streets of modern football.
That is not good for a man like Mesut
Özil, and his psychology and consistency
have suffered as a result. But his genius
remains. In this World Cup, he has
played far better than his verbal
execution by mob rule would indicate.
His passing has been statistically better
than that of all his team mates, while his
quiet ability to create space from the
lack of it has enabled Germany to break
    through almost entirely defensive
    opposition.
Mesut Ozil celebrates his goal for Germany
    against Algeria
Mesut Ozil may not be in the form of his
life. Let your eye drift over him as you
watch a game, and you will certainly
reach the same conclusion as Paul
Breitner: that he merely wanders around
    ineffectually.
But, if you have nothing better to do this
evening, watch Ozil closely. For ninety
minutes. I bet you his 50 million Euro
price tag that you will see him doing
things you never thought he did.
Affecting the game in a way you
otherwise would have missed. Quietly. In
    the shadows.

    Rico,

Even if he is useless at making a tackle, that extra body busying up that left back slot made it hard for Brazil to get anything down that side.

I’m happy with Ozil and I hope he’s greeted back to Arsenal and the fans really get behind him this season. NO negativity 🙂

  31. roy says:

Let’s use our brains if we let those two players leave who will replace the injury player,we can’t run away from injuries

  32. Adam says:

I cannot believe that Wenger would let Santi leave, even for a substantial amount of money. It would be an entirely retrograde step for me.

  33. Wath says:

Hopefully the new fitness coach will help things Roy plus don’t forget the younger players are a year older a years more experience and a few will be more ready to push for a first team place….? Just thinking out loud….!

I think you try keep your best layers but if one or two want to leave then just make sure you replace them with like for like or better and then they will not be missed.

  34. Scott From Oz says:

On “experts” criticism of Ozil I say one thing.
How many football fans/experts/pundits said Ramsey would never be any good?
    People get things wrong.
Other dumb arses sometimes get it right.
Nobody is always right, nor always wrong, but opinions are just that…..opinions.
Ozil is a sublime footballer, and too goo for idiots knocking him to be allowed to watch.

  35. Wath says:

What if Santi wants to leave though Adam and it’s not us that are trying to get rid of him…?

    Then what..?

  36. ktr7 says:

I would not do that Wath.Griezmann is a lovely player.however with theo and signing “S” we don’t need him.Santi is a totally different type of player to him.Santi normally prefers to drop deep in midfield to help us dictate play when Mesut and Ramsey are roaming forward.he gives us that balance.he is also our best mesut backup.if he were to leave we need a like for like such as valbuena.Griezmann is a forward essentially and if he is to come it should be for poldi imo.

  37. rico says:

I agree Nickie, too many times our left back has not been given enough cover from the player in front of him and too many times it cost us dear last season. Just the hustle and bustle of a playing annoying the attacker can sometimes be enough.

  38. Adam says:

Hi Wath. I would tell him that he is a major part of the team, that he recently signed a new contract and that he is staying.
Podolski, on the other hand, could go.

  39. Scott From Oz says:

Adam, if Podolski promises to keep up his work rate of late sat season, no way I’d let him go.
Trouble is that may have had it’s desired effect and got him a WC gig.

  40. Wath says:

Interesting to see peoples different perceptions on players Kt. Always a sensitive subject when you mention a player leaving that is popular and who could or would replace him…!

We all see different hings in different players, for me we lack width on the left and as good as Santi is he doesn’t give us proper width…! I don’t want him or Mikel to leave but also if they did leave as long as they are replace properly then so be it…! Our problem last 5/6 years is loosing players and NOT replacing…!

  41. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

    Wath – Great post mate.

Even if we sign five players, I’d like to see us keep Santi, Arteta and Rosicky. We need the squad depth if we are serious about all four competitions. A repeat of last season’s injury record and we are right back where we started.

Mikel and Tomas would be ideal calmer, older and wiser heads to include in the usual younger squad for the League Cup games. You can’t coach their vast experience, it has to be earned. They are both intelligent players and if interested may make good coaches when they retire from playing. Treat them well and they will be amenable to returning to the club if they play on for a few more years elsewhere.

  42. frednerk says:

Lets be fair the QE2 turns quickie than the BFG so its no surprise to see him dropped for the big games,
but what he has is a yard upstairs and with Kosser being right footed and covering around him with a bit of pace we found a good partnership, last season.

Great to see wenger getting the check book out at last,
thats what us gooners want, not promise’s every season, just show’s what a bit of pressure can do,from the fans.

  43. Douglas says:

If Arsenal is given 100 ml £ to spent this season does it also apply that next season we will have another £100 ml to further strengthen the squad. If that is so then that would really be exciting times for Arsenal and fans.

  44. rico says:

That’s how I see it too Wath, our problem has always been selling the better and seldom replacing them with a player as good as or better.

If players need a gun held to their head to stay, well their heart won’t be in playing for us….

  45. Adam says:

But this is the attitude that has lead us to underachieving for so long. RVP ‘wanted’ to leave and selling him to Man Utd was one of the biggest mistakes of Wenger’s reign and a terrible day for Arsenal. It confirmed us as a selling club and a feeder for the top clubs. It is simply wrong to continue along that line.

  46. BrainwashedKev says:

    Fred, 11.19am

    Very well put mate…

You don’t have to be a 7 foot wardrobe, to be a defensive midfield player…

    Is Arteta???

It’s all about intelligence, reading situations…

You don’t see BFG thundering around, he does his job quietly and without fuss, much as Khadira…

  47. a says:

    great article

good point about carzola – if we get an offer sell him for 20 million,
carzola was great 1st season last season was a little lost, seemed more concerned about dying his hair brown!

I know wilshere is a different type of player, but there needs to be space and game time for him.

sell podolski – i like him, but campbell could be a replacement and he seems to play with no fear we also have gnabry.

keep arteta – this guy’s professionalism since he joined has been an example. When alex song skipped his defensive midfield duties in games arteta didnt let us down. sacrficed his own attacking instincts because song thought he was fabregas.

We need a defender – lost at who that could be. dont think we can rely on vermalen.

any thoughts about monreal should he stay or leave?

  48. Nickie says:

I don’t mind selling and replacing players if they’re not needed/their heart isn’t in it anymore…but don’t get rid of players if they still have a purpose. Like Arteta, don’t just bin him for the fun of it and unsettle the team balance, A lot of players could be affected if he left. Same with Pod for team morale/atmosphere his fun antics that really mellows and lightens up the mood would be gone and players would be upset

  49. Scott From Oz says:

Adam, I agree we allowed players to leave, but they were never replaced.
Then again, if we replaced players allowed to leave previously, some of those guys might have stayed.
    It’s a vicious circle lol.
The clubs in such a good position now that I doubt any player would want to leave due to a lack of ambition from the club…..it would either be money, game time or possibly a player wanting to head home.

  50. rico says:

But if Santi goes to Spain Adam and he’s replaced properly, I won’t be overly bothered. Yes I’d love him to stay, but if he really wants out, then sell him…

  51. Wath says:

Adam, that’s not what am saying at all though, the attitude of just letting players leave is one thing and all those decent players that left were not replaced… Big difference, If Santi wants to leave then so be it no one bigger than the club and never will be the biggest issue is whoever leaves needs to be adequately replaced….!

If, Cesc, Nasri, Toure, Gilberto, Rvp had been properly replaced we would not of had the last 5/6 years that we’ve had.

  52. BrainwashedKev says:

The 25 man squad is the problem, if Wenger wants to bring in 2 or 3 more foreign signings over 21, then we cannot keep everyone…

I would loan out a couple of players, maybe up until January, in case we need them back…

As for the rest of our squad, I would release nobody, and that includes Cazorla, Arteta, Podolski, Vermaelen (and certainly not to Old Bog), Jenkinson.

Not unless Wenger had someone younger and equally talented or better to replace them…

  53. rico says:

    Morning Cg..

Douglas, I don’t know the answer but others here might, maybe the sponsors money will be available each summer/winter, but I’m only guessing…

  54. frednerk says:

That’s right adam(RVP)..but the pain went a bit watching the mancs last season.bit like… if the fab would have joined the chavs 3 years ago ..I think that would have been unimaginable.

  55. Wath says:

a 11:57… Monreal another who divides opinion but think we must have two players for each position and especially in defence.

  56. BrainwashedKev says:

That’s right Rico, that’s why Galindo left and why Miquel and Coquelin and Djourou have either gone or could soon be leaving…
Once they turn 21 they’re part of the 25 man squad, cue complications…

KT I agree with you regarding the Valbuena/Cazorla comparison…

But Greizmann is a fantastic footballer, I emphasise footballer.
He isn’t, imo, just a winger, he had a lot more to his game, and like Arteta, BFG, Khadira and their ilk, he is intelligent, can play across the midfield, in the hole and up front.
He might be slight in stature but he is no wimp & can head the ball, you know, that long forgotten art…

  57. Gunnerdna says:

Morning all good post, what about replacing Sant & MA08 with Di Maria/Cuadrado & Javi Martinez/*Bender. If the club needs a top class DM 1 of MA08 or MF have to leave.

  58. tsgh says:

    Good read Rico,
Scott from previious page I was just testing to see if you read my posts. 😛

Get me Kroos and as i said a few months back, I will do up AW’s zip looking into his eyes… 😛

  59. tsgh says:

Nickie/Scott I am with you on Arteta but sections of fans are suicidal with Arteta even in the 25 man squad so… 🙂

  60. Wath says:

Ts, don’t think I wanna know about AW’s zipper and your tendencies to wanna look into his eyes….!

  61. tsgh says:

Rico, Oh it was Wath my bad… his writing has improved then. 😛

Wath are you taking lessons from Adam? 🙂

  62. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Guten Tag. SIEBEHN!!!!!!

It was the famous DANTE who wrote the Divina Commedia. And yesterday he took part in it.

Good post Rico. But why should we let Arteta go? Imo that is wrong.

Then again. I would like us to get Sanchez and Remy for the attack.

On yesterday’s game Khedira should be at the top of AW list.

Make it the WHOLE GERMAN TEAM

  63. Nickie says:

Chelsea and Man City can field a 2nd team better than 12 of the teams in the prem first team. Why can’t we? Keep all players, let none go apart from the Coqs, Miqs and Miyachis. First team Ram, CDM, Ozil, Walcott, Sanchez, Giroud….Second team has your Wilshere, Arteta, Cazorla, Ox etc all very capable of filling in for number 1 squad

  64. Wath says:

Honestly Adam yes IF a player really wants out then sell him… As i say long as a better player is brought in then whats the issue… IF we sold Rvp and had bought Suarez no one would of said a dickie bird… The fact was we didn’t replace. The fact the issue is saying if Santi wants to go back to Spain isn’t now saying the whole team wants out…! IF Santi is allowed to leave and we bought Griezmann then great if we bought no one and decided on saying Gnabry is his replacement thats a huge risk and what we have done way to often. It could work out but a big risk.

  65. Scott From Oz says:

Adam, I doubt anyone really wants out now, though.
    Rumours……we just love them!
Why would anyone leave when we are clearly headed on the right direction?
Well, other than for money 🙂

  66. bondex says:

Don’t believe Santi will leave with what is happening around (if we are to believe all the (rumors) he’ll definitely want to stay to be part of the glory days ahead and of-course he just signed a new deal. May be for $40 million.

  67. Scott From Oz says:

Lee, it was the try conversion that did them in 🙂
Ginge, I’m onto you, by the way………my scouts Inform me of your every post 🙂

  68. rico says:

He’d be daft to want to go bondex in a footballing world, but he might just want to return to Spain…

  69. Woody says:

    Morning All.

I’m not too in to this talk of players leaving. We need to move forward, not sideways.

If we lose Arteta, TV & Cazorla then that’s not ideal in my mind. We don’t want to be like the spuds and buy 6, or 7 players, that’s not the way to take a big step forward. The team we have now have been improving for the last 2, 3, years so let’s not mess with it now.

We are buying Sanchez because we need someone who’s more direct upfront and also to add depth not to replace Santi.

I would let Arteta go, if we are buying a new DM. But only because we already have Jack, Ramsey and Flamini who can play there.

The bottom line is we look to be purchasing 3 players soon. If we add a DM to that lot then I would stop there for sure…apart from a back up keeper, but they don’t mess with the team so much so isn’t a problem

  70. rico says:

Woody, I think the Santi talk is down to a few snippets in the press about him wanting to go back to Spain.

Would seem a strange one though as he’s not long signed a new contract, unless he did so just to make sure the club get a good fee for him, maybe they agreed that together.

We are just guessing of course..

I’d think about selling Diaby first and replacing him with Khedira, one of the Benders or Morgan…

Or two of the above and let one of Arteta or Flamini go….

  71. Scott From Oz says:

    Wath, I’m diversifying.
    Covering all bases.
    Being flexible.
    Showing my versatility.
Actually, I can’t find anything I’m any good at 🙂

  72. Canadian Gooner says:

Scott has scouts in England? What’s next – canoe loads of Aborigines and their fighting kangaroos paddling up the Thames to assault Shitehart Lane?

  73. Woody says:

Yeah, I would agree with that Rico. Knowing our luck though, he (Diaby) would go to another team, be injury free and put in 8 out of 10 performances every week

  74. Canadian Gooner says:

A number of sources are stating that it was a face to face meeting in Brazil that convinced ‘S’ to come to Arsenal and not Liverfool or Juventus.

  75. agirlagunner says:

Another positive, non-grumpy post, WATH. Good job. 😛 Sanchez and Debuchy done. Schneiderlin/Kroos/Khedira next, hopefully This is an exciting time to be a gunner.

Verm, Santi, Cazorla to stay put. We do not have a deep enough bench, so I hope nobody else leaves. As everyone has already said, these guys have experience and know the Arsenal way. We do not want to be Totnum with purchases who are all good on paper, but who cannot play together.

    Hello, rico. Hello, all!

  76. tsgh says:

Scott, my posts are all encrypted mate…

Rico-A team of German and Chilean players? What will Dyke say to that? 🙂

  77. rico says:

As long as it’s abroad Woody, who cares… lol

Seriously though, I really can’t see his body coping with the PL, maybe AW wants to see how long he lasts in pre-season before making a decision but one thing is for sure, we can’t go into next season thinking he’s the answer…

  78. agirlagunner says:

Ginge, I meant him, too. I mentioned Santi twice. Must be because I like him. 🙂 🙂 Lol.

Can’t believe I’ll be cheering on the Oranje tonight. Feels icky to be supporting anything that has to do with Robben or Robin.

  79. Woody says:

    A bullet dodged?

    Jan Aage Fjortoft ‏@JanAageFjortoft 27m
I am told that Arsenal were in the race for Mandzukic, but a deal couldn’t be done.

  80. tsgh says:

Woody, Mandzukic is not as bad as folks think he is imho..

Regulars of Bundesliga will say he is very good. In the UCL static strikers suffer i the 1 upfront formations imho…

  81. Canadian Gooner says:

AGAG – I’ll be watching, but I can’t see myself cheering for either team. I just want to know who’ll be plating Germany and how they play.

  82. tsgh says:

If we buy Khedira then Arteta has to stay…

Sami will need someone like Mikel even more to plug the gaps he leaves in midfield bombing forward and concentrating on inside right areas of the field… imo

  83. agirlagunner says:

CG, that’s a good idea. Hmmm. But I don’t think I can stand people crowing about the genius that is Messi if the Argies beat the Dutch; I think Argentina has been rather lucky to be at the QF, tbh. Belgium just sort of imploded.

ginge, we could just watch as CG says. 🙂

  84. tsgh says:

Kt- re 11:27 I have to disagree only because to me I see not much wrong with Ozil’s game…

He does the right things its just a shame some of the players the has around him are not as tactically aware as Kroos and Schweinsteiger; shame TR07 and Mikel are slightly older…

  85. rico says:

Ts, I had a similar conversation about Khedira with a friend this morning.

In an ideal world, sell Flamini, Diaby and Arteta and sign Morgan, Khedira and Sven Bender. But I’m not silly enough to not know that would equal too many changes at once.

Mind you, it could work…. lol

  86. tsgh says:

”Four players have won the World Cup while being at Arsenal – George Eastham, Manu Petit, Patrick Vieira & Cesc Fabregas” someone’s stats

  87. agirlagunner says:

Scott, but have you seen the Argies play?? So much attacking talent at their disposal and they have served up snooze after snore after bore bore bore. Robben dives, but he does score some stunning goals.

rico, re: Mandzukic- you’re ageiest!! 😛 Howdy?

  88. rico says:

    I’m good thanks agag, you?

Not ageist, slowiest maybe – he’s about as fast as Giroud… lol

  89. agirlagunner says:

If you can stand to watch Muller long enough, you would see just how many key passes of Ozil he has wasted. And I found it so unclassy how he sort of begrudged Chelsea’s Shirley his first goal last night. If Muller never scores again, and Hamezzz gets the Golden Boot, I would be so happy.

  90. BrainwashedKev says:

Just when I thought it was safe for Rico to come out from behind the settee, Arsenal are being linked to Saloman Kalou…

    Again!

    Deep joy

  91. Scott From Oz says:

Agag, the Dutch scraped past our Aussies who were easily the weakest side we’ve sent out for over a decade now.
Then, they scraped by Costa Rica.
They’ve got nothing and are chokers of the highest order.
Messi only needs to do do two or three things for Aregntina to win, I reckon.
Robben…..well, one decent tackle would sort that grub out 🙂

  92. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge & Scott – That is the way I see it. Germany to beat Argentina in the final. The Netherlands to beat a shell shocked Brazil in the consolation game.

I don’t have a crystal ball, but the neighbours probably wont like that I borrowed their cat’s entrails.

  93. rico says:

    Ha ha Agag…

Scott, totally agree re the Dutch, very lucky to be through and their only good game was against Spain imo…

  94. tsgh says:

He is Rico; but don’t know if he plays CB too or its just bec ause AW likes Leftie CB or maybe a replacement for Monreal…

  95. Woody says:

I read that about Draxler Rico, but surely not. Did we not offer more than that in January/Last Year?

  96. agirlagunner says:

Scott, but the Dutch have played some inspired football, at least. Messi-tina has been zzz zzzz zzzzz. 😛 The Argies have scraped past Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria, Switzerland and Belgium. 😀 😀

The Dutch have had a harder run, I think. Although all credit to them for having conceded the fewest number of goals.

  97. rico says:

I’d rather keep Monreal Ts, he was very good on arrival, then a dip, but I’d keep him..

Unless he wants to go of course which would be a shame…

Woody, I think so, and a lot more. In any case, the player said he wants to stay put for one more season I think…

    Scott, good point… lol

  98. Scott From Oz says:

    Agag, time will tell….
Maybe I’m just hoping to see them crushed, but it worked for Brazil lol

  99. tsgh says:

Same here rico; it could be agent talk or Aw covering bases just in case as Monreal must be cheeesed off he couldn’t make Spanish squad

  100. Scott From Oz says:

Montreal has been a victim of guys in from of him failing to offer adequate protection.
Funny, but we can say that about all of our backs at some point.

  101. rico says:

He must be, just as Santi must be cheesed off he didn’t play more but that’s football I guess, it’s up to players to push themselves forward with their performances.

Also, I kind of get the impression that with Spain it’s all about ‘if your face fits’…..

  102. rico says:

We can, just why AS will be a great addition, he’s a grafter who will do whatever is needed, or that’s how he seems to be from watching him….

  103. Woody says:

One question I’ve not seen asked yet, is where do you expect AS to play?

Through the middle instead of Giroud?

I can’t see him playing behind in Ozils position and I wouldn’t want either Santi or Theo dropped.

Theo because I really think he can help Ozil and Santi is too good for the bench surely. I understand about squad rotation and maybe the line up is dictated by the team we’re playing, but…

  104. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – Re: “Totts are reported to be ready to offer £17 million for Draxler.”

Schalke recently valued Draxler at twice that offer. The Totts are only testing to see if the German’s have a sense of humour.

  105. Canadian Gooner says:

Woody – ‘S’ can play any of those positions and Theo probably wont be back in contention until late September or October. Arsene will want to ease Theo back into the team as he he’ll be susceptible to re-injury until he can get himself fully match fit.

  106. rico says:

Woody, depends on who else we sign I guess…

All I know is I can’t wait to see what AW does with him….

Cg, maybe they should add an extra £1, that might make them laugh…. lol

  107. Woody says:

Very true CG and I think that’s right, although the Ox looks like he’s really keen to push on and he needs football as well.

I’m not for one minute suggesting we don’t need AS. I love a deep squad. Just interesting to see who get’s what game time.

I guess you always need to mix it up these days.

  108. agirlagunner says:

Woody, check out the former Udinese coach’s views on where to play ‘S’ as reference by CG above.

  109. Canadian Gooner says:

Woody – Ox is another unfit player who may need to be eased back into the team depending on how he responds to preseason training. I think we will see far more squad rotation this season and not before time.

  110. Hell Raising Devil says:

Kieran Gibbs appears to have inherited Bacary Sagna’s number 3 shirt judging by the latest photos from the Arsenal training ground.
Sagna, who recently departed for Manchester City, wore the number throughout his seven year tenure with the Gunners following in the footsteps of Ashley Cole, Igor Stepanovs (who bizarrely held it for the 2000/01 season) and Nigel Winterburn.
Gibbs has worn the 28 shirt for four consecutive seasons but will no doubt see his accession to single digits (assuming it is confirmed) as an important step in consolidating his credentials as the club’s outright first choice left-back ahead of Nacho Monreal.
The number 2 shirt, surrendered last season by Abou Diaby, remains the only other first XI number available and could well be offered to incoming Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy.
The numbers 13 (Viviano), 23 (Bendtner), 18 (formerly Squillaci), 27 (formerly Gervinho), 29 (Kallstrom) and 30 (Park) are also currently available.

  111. Canadian Gooner says:

I’m off. Have a great day everyone.

I may drop by after the game.

    Keep The Faith!

  112. agirlagunner says:

Dev, your mention of Viviano, Bendtner, Squillaci, Gerv, Kallstrom, and Park almost gave me a migraine. Good riddance, I say. 😀

  113. Hell Raising Devil says:

They are all free at the moment. Almunia the same.

I simply hope that AW does not decide to sign a freebie this time…..thinking they are superstars and ending up with one of them back again. 😉

  114. Bt62 Gooner says:

Afternoon all, good positive post, back later, got a roof to finish… I’m getting a tad excited…..lol… Well done Germany!!!

  115. Lanre says:

Fine it is good to buy players but keep the experience ones we have, lets go back to what happened last season and remmember the injury period when we lost our chance to win the league ”I think a good leader should always fight till the end’

  116. BrainwashedKev says:

A Kalouist, hmm, not me Agag…

    I’m more of a Bent’ist myself…

I worship the great Darren Bent.
    A man for all seasons… 🙂

  117. rico says:

Lanre, we are not talking about selling, we are talking about selling AND replacing so the depth would always remain.

  118. BrainwashedKev says:

Rico, I think that Draxler link to the Spuds, had the hint of a wind-up about it…

    Blimey, I’m off again, lata

  119. agirlagunner says:

Don’t worry, Lanre, We’ll keep ’em all; and add a few more. 😉

Kev, a Kalou-ist is anti-Kalou. 😀 😀 You’re a Bent-er cos you love him, The Man for All The Wrong Reasons. 😉 rico, ever the Theo supporter, professes to be a slow-ist. 😉

  120. agirlagunner says:

Kev, AW made a mistake not paying Torres any attention, notwithstanding his ‘come get me’ pleas. Shame, he could have been the answer to our goal scoring needs. 😛

  121. Hell Raising Devil says:

I am with Agag on this Torres matter. I always liked him and feel that within the present team he would have become a world beater again.

  122. agirlagunner says:

Dev, no world beater becomes awful overnight. It was a slow and steady decline, and it was not helped by having to play for coaches who had little faith in him/who criticized him publicly.

  123. Wavy says:

Devil, 2.24 the shirt numbers list. It read more like Reg Transfers advert. They send me emails, god knows why! But, a suggestion comes to mind, why not organise an in-club auction and the players could pay for their chosen shirt numbers. A nice little money spinner for the. Club, the arse could get some of their salaries back! A win. Win for the club and we all like to win, don’t we?

  124. tsgh says:

Scott/Kev?agag- I thought you might like this… Talkshite reckon ”Hose’ has shown he is a genius by selling Luiz for Euros 40m’… 😛

They are trying to imply Jose does the selling at the club

  125. BrainwashedKev says:

The agent of Jackson Martinez is certainly earning his commission…

Dear old Jackson is on the rumour sites every bloody day…

I think he must have suggested, asked, appealed and even begged Arsenal to come and sign him about 40 times this summer…

You know what Jackson, it ain’t gonna happen mate…

I wonder if he can do the moonwalk?

  126. BrainwashedKev says:

Ginge, you gotta admit that the Chavs did well in flogging Luiz…

It makes a change when you look at the money they’ve wasted on Torres, Shevchenko, Eto’o and quite a few others…

  127. BrainwashedKev says:

Rico, what have you done with Stan, he seems to have disappeared…

Maybe the retaliation of what awaits Holland, even if they do get past the Argies…

    1974 revisited ?

  128. potter says:

Been out all day , but just thought that I would add that those that are criticising Ozil need to watch the game and not follow the ball. His movement off of the ball creates so much space for others and his ability to play the final ball is second to none. As for his physicality , perhaps if Höwedes stopped giving him hospital passes when he had 2 men on him his stats might look better. But that’s one for Tsgh.

  129. Joywedsjeff says:

Potter Ozil has the best stats of all the playmakers at the world cup apart from goals scored… At min six last night, Barry Glendenning of the guardian was slating him for dissapearing which shows media agenda imho… Since they cannot moan about Wenger anymore Ozil becomes an easy target. If the Germans are looking for a scape goat and i don’t see the need to, Bastian should be the one imo. If Reus was fit, he will rightly find himself on the bench. Quality player no doubt but he has not fully recovered from his long term injury.

  130. agirlagunner says:

ginge, haha.I’m sure just a match ago, TShite was raving about Luiz. I think Abramovich secretly likes his managers to fail so that he can try to justify his own penchant for buying players he likes, who cares that they would do nothing to strengthen his team. He and Mourinho deserve each other though. I can’t say whose is the bigger ego.

Ozil is class; the media love to give him a hard time, but only the blind would say he is not talented. Must be because he is not BM player. 😉

Stanley must be a wreck now, rico. 😀

  131. Joywedsjeff says:

    For you TS
your close buddie and Arsenal informant Dick Law is getting a lot of praise from the catalan media for the way he handled negotiations…

  132. Micko says:

    Evening all,
tsgh 6.01, and you can bet your bottom dollar laurent blanc ain’t the nutter who bought him either, but some rich arab with an open cheque book !!!

rico 6.02, the ‘onion bhaji’s’ are going down !

  133. Bt62 Gooner says:

Evening all, hoping the Argies win, can’t stand Robben and getting a dislike for Van Gaal. Let’s not forget Robin Van Skunk, there’s only one good Dutch Skunk and it’s not rvp.

  134. Adam says:

I would imagine that Jack will face a similar shitstorm of criticism as Ozil this season from UK journalists, especially as he doesn’t speak with a northern accent. I believe that the fetid turd known as Ian Holloway has already started the ball rolling The ire of the cretinous onanists will know no bounds.

  135. Bob John says:

I’m afraid I’m gonna buck the trend and hope for a Dutch win tonight as long as the Germans spank them in the final. Too much bad history with Argentina even recently with that ridiculous Malvinas flag that FIFA conveneintly ignored! The thought of the likes of Maradona, Batistuta, Simeone, Rattin and all the other nasty pieces of work that have cheated and spat their way through games against us having any pleasure in their lives makes me feel bilious!

  136. tsgh says:

    Hi Rico et toute

You are being kind to Jose and the chavs? Why did you fleece a russian oligarch this afternoon? 😛

Can’t agree with you more Potter/Joy…

Personally I feel sorry for Ozil and that is why I won’t mind him going away if we can get Muller & Kroos. 😛

The media have an agenda… it started with Suker all those years.. they moan if we don’t buy and mourn if we buy BIG.

Agag, as Adam will say I am a sadist…, I have no idea why I keep tuning in to those tossers but…:-)

Ozil will always be class; to the media he should be like Gerrard and Lampard.

  137. AndrewH says:

Don’t like their manager, don’t like their striker, nor that tart that falls down. But come on Holland for a European final.

  138. rico says:

Bj, to be honest, I actually find it quite hard cheering on the German side and had it not been for the Arsenal influence, I’d have been rooting for their exit in the first round.

  139. tsgh says:

Micko, did you hear about an occurence last night? it goes like this… Blanc and Sheik Nasser were having dinner in a top restaurant in Rio when one of the national team coaches walked in… he was then invited by Blanc to join them on their table;Following that the national team manager started slating Luiz for being useless as a defender in front of Blanc and the Psg owner and that if Luiz was for sale he won’t pay £5m for Luiz.

When the person with the manager hinted to the said manager that Luiz had been bought by Psg the manager tried to back track by saying Luiz is a top DM but Blanc replied he was planning to pair him with Thiago… 😛 😀

    True story allegedly…

  140. tsgh says:

Joy, all Dickie did was offer to pay more upfront to Barca which made Barca chiefs more potent to buy Turan and Jaws…

Apparently though, the reason why Juve skipped off so quickly was that we increased our down payments and reduced/refined our fees attributed to performance clauses.. and of course S telling the old lady of Turin it was not relevant enough… 🙂

  141. tsgh says:

The media and Tshite in particular where the ones who brain washed gullible fans to get on AA23’s back because he could not replicate his 4 goals scored in Anfield… I hope they don’t do that to our Ozil.

  142. Hell Raising Devil says:

Arshavin had other issues Ginge. He had his marriage issues, his wife was unhappy, he befriended the togolump, his mind was on his clothes business……so many issues contributed to his downfall.

  143. rico says:

Ts, can you say that about Dick Law for sure?

Or is that just your opinion?

    There’s a difference….

  144. Adam says:

Rico. Yes, you’re right. It has got going already hasn’t it?
As for that radio station. All I will say is that discussing it openly is exactly how the Nazi party started.

  145. rico says:

I doubt there will ever be an answer Bt, unless Ts knows DL and for some reason, I doubt he does…

  146. Adam says:

I am off for the evening. Hope you all enjoy the game. Night Rico, Micko, BT, Devil and all.
Whatever happens, I predicted it all.

  147. Hell Raising Devil says:

or another bet………….how long will Messi stay injury free if De Jong is on the pitch???

  148. Wavy says:

Or is Ts little Dick Law in disguise. Spying on the Housers and messing with their minds?
    Imo, of course!

  149. Joywedsjeff says:

TS… The fact that you refuse to praise Dick Law implies that he is your informant imo. You know how many languages he speaks and you always seem to know his whereabouts…heck you even know how he negotiated the Sanchez deal
meanwhile, up Argentina. That way i can relax and enjoy the final without hating on any team.

  150. tsgh says:

Joy, all I want to know is how Law will react if JC is not given a chance this season if JC ends up going on loan..?

He gave us JC when he could have pursued Mata… 🙂

  151. tsgh says:

what are you smoking tonight Micko? 🙂

    Joy is just teasing- Rico.

    I know, know one… 😉

  152. rico says:

I know you do Ts, but others maybe don’t and to be honest, the way you write stuff, sometimes but not always makes you sound like you are an ITK kinda guy.

But then I’ve said that to you before….

That’s not me being cruel, just want HH to stay real and honest and not become like many other sites where ‘itk’ bloggers spout rubbish….

I guess it’s not what we write, it’s how we write it……..

  153. BrainwashedKev says:

    It’s a pretty tight affair….

Wouldn’t suprise me if it is still 0-0 at half-time…

  154. BrainwashedKev says:

    Yes Rico, I agree…

Tbh I get sick of some of the stuff that Mick come out with…

    Talk about far-fetched…

    Nigerian Guiness and all that…

We all know that Guiness is made in Scotland…

  155. Micko says:

Kyawmgmgtun, did you just wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat !

rico, krul must be rubbing his hands together, needs a bergkamp 1998 moment.

  156. Joywedsjeff says:

Rico… I was just teasing. As for JC, i still don’t believe he will make it in the bpl but Wenger will be slaughtered if he lets him go so i’ll reckon if Newcastle are interested they can have him on loan.

  157. Mr Wath says:

Can’t we just call this shit off, disqualify both teams for being cnuts and just give the trophy to the krauts…!

  158. Wavy says:

Is it tactical or is it the return of…..tika takka? Whatever it is it’s boring and predictable. How we need a goal!

  159. Micko says:

Approaching the 60th minute, stan’s local anaesthetic must be starting to wear off, hopefully the mrs has the stait-jacket at the ready ! Keep the faith stanley.

  160. Micko says:

Are you sure your nick-name isn’t fish wath, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, nite matey.

  161. Wavy says:

Final remark…..if Van Gaal is such a good manager how come he can’t get his teams to win in 90+ minutes?
Manure to finish 5th or 6th cos they ain’t going to win many although they may not lose too many!

  162. BrainwashedKev says:

I do like the look of the Dutch goalkeeper…

Plays for Ajax, so definately gettable…

  163. Sukky says:

Just back from running my pub quiz , just thought i would inform you that Guiness comes from the pump in between the Carlsberg and the Golden Jackall Wolf bitter.

  167. Hell Raising Devil says:

    I am ok Scott

Messi can beat Germany. Argentina cannot.

If Germany keep Messi quiet…….they will trounce the Argies.

  168. Scott From Oz says:

The Dutch manager has said two of his players refused to take the first penalty.
    That’s their problem…….experts In Failure 🙂

  169. Scott From Oz says:

    Hahaha.
Van Persie was seen at the German Embassy.
Apparently, the little boy inside told him he should change nationalities.

  170. Hell Raising Devil says:

Finally we may be able to see a lineup that has the following numbers

    1 Szceszney
    2 Debouchy
    3 Gibbs
    4 Meresacker
    5 Koscielny (maybe)

That is how I like the defence.

    Long may it last

  171. Hell Raising Devil says:

Currently Kos has the number 6

I would like to see him given the number 5 that is why the maybe

Ideally it would be this formation

    1
    2.4.5.3
    6.8
    7.10.11
    9

    that should read

    Szcesney
    Debouchy, Merte, Kos, Gibbs
    Khedira, Ramsey
    Cazorla,Ozil, Sanchez
    Giroud

  172. Hell Raising Devil says:

    it is.

    you should see the subs……..

Wilshere, Theo, Remy, Arteta, Aurier (instead of TommyV), Monreal, Ox, TR07, Podolski, Gnabry,

obviously I just pumped in Khedira and Aurier with the presenst squad, provided we get them. However its a nice thought.

Ohhhhhh…..I forgot Diaby. Kev is going to be mad.

but not Bent, not Bent habib.

  173. Hell Raising Devil says:

    morning Kev

I did not say subs bench habib.

    I just said subs

I still dont know who will be the sub keeper. I would like Ospina of Columbia, but would he settle to be number 2 at least in the beginning?

  174. Hell Raising Devil says:

    no one won Rico.

they decided on penalties that Argentina should go to the final

    the game was a bore-feast

I went to sleep after 90 mins

did not want to see the rest of extra time and pens

  175. rico says:

I watched the first half Devil, that was enough for me….
