Cahill Deal Getting Closer? Wenger about to P**S Jose off?? Nasri deal to be confirmed…

The latest story doing the rounds relates to our young Spanish defender Ignasi Miquel; suggestion is that Owen Coyle wants him on loan for a season…

Great news for the newly crowned Euro Cup winner and it could be great news for us…

Every man and his dog know that a high percentage of Arsenal fans see that Cahill could go a long way to rectifying our defensive problems.

Part of me thinks that an agreement has already been made between us and Bolton, why else has no other club come in for him?

Gary Cahill will be the one who takes over from John ‘Thomas’ Terry very soon, he’ll be the backbone of his country and he’ll possibly be the captain too.

Suggestion is that we have offered Bendtner previously but Owen Coyle is no fool is he, he said no…

Miguel is a different proposition though; he’s young and full of confidence after Spain’s recent conquest so if they are to lose Cahill, surely they’d rather have a ‘freebie’ stand in for a season. Ok, he’s not Cahill yet but with their player entering the last year of his contract, Coyle knows he has to do what is best for Bolton and Gary Cahill.

For Ignasi Miquel, this would be a great move too in my opinion, we saw how Jack Wilshere toughened up a bit at Bolton and if he is to do the same, it would do him the world of good.

Reports also suggest that League Two side Crewe Alexandra are hoping to secure our Spaniard on loan….

I don’t think Miquel has a lot to think about really, do you??

Bolton or Crewe – it’s easy really….

Anyway, I don’t know if all this holds any substance, of course I’d love it to but again, only time will tell…

Another one for you:

Lille striker Moussa Sow is sat on his hands and knees begging Arsene Wenger to go and get him but apparently Jose Moanrinho wants him at Real Madrid:

I want to play at Arsenal, I think my game is best suited to the Premier League. It is my dream and I want to be playing Champions League football. Real Madrid?

They are one of the best teams in the world, We will see what can happen with these clubs before the transfer windows ends.

He scored 25 goals last season in 36 appearances, isn’t that the kind of return we all hope for from a striker?

Ok, he’s only 5′ 11″ but the way we play, he’d be good wouldn’t he???

Is Sow truthing or is he just trying to let Jose know he’s ready to move?

On to Nasri:

Reports suggest that the young French, soon to be Splintered Nasri is close to securing a deal with Citeh – well, if he doens’t want us, then we don’t need him so more money for Arsene to spend. Most newspapers report that the deal was being finalised last night…

If Nasri thinks he’ll be first on their team sheet, he needs to wake up – but what will we care eh?

Now we just need Stan to convince him to spend it…

Come on Arsene, you know you want to – don’t worry about how much you spend on one player – we don’t care who you buy as long as they make us stronger.

🙂

Have a good day all, I’ll leave you with this from The Daily Mail….

Morning young Rico.

I think both of those deals should be done, gives us two decent players and we get a great prospect game time.

Looking at our fit players at the moment i want Cahill now! ASAFuckingP. We could then push TV to left back v Liverpool as Jenkinson v Suarez is not a nice thought.
I’d love Mata to follow but if not him Hazard.
Otherwise we could see ourselves with 1 point from 3 league games and out of the CL – marvellous!

Check out the ear thing though Rico. It will confirm all you feel about him. If Wenger had done that he would be in the International Court in The Hague. I too can’t stand him but I have found my admiration for Barca has taken a nose-dive too lately. When you consider how these two huge clubs have stitched up the Spanish league and spread their corruption through European football you have to take every opportunity to laugh at them.

Rico. Yes, pathetic is about right, especially his jutting chin posturing after the guy pushes him. It does reflect a general trend in football though of stupidity, crassness and a feeling of entitlement which is turning me off the game season by season. The attachment I used to feel to the club is being slowly eroded and people like Nasri don’t help. The erosion is directly linked to money I suppose.

All players are deceptive,Cesc’s recovery was amazing wasn’t it.
I would say his move was mean considering how Wenger has built the team round him, sold experience midfielders to give him room to be play and be creative.(Gilberto,Viera,EDU,Hleb) just to mention a few.
Wenger changed the way we play to make the best use of Cesc’s talent , he got more attack minded midfielders and forgot the defensive side of our game.
Wao ! we might not like that Cesc has left but the person that would be mostly hurt is Wenger.

Therefore i don’t blame him for being slow in the transfer market , because if we put ourselves in his shoes , Nasri asking to leave is like adding salt to injury .
He will be constantly angry right now that to get his attention will be difficult.

That is why i was still amazed that he could make the changes he made in the defence when all those injuries were coming.I guess that is why he is the coach and we are not.

Cesc can win all the trophies from now on but he has left a chance at becoming a Legend at Arsenal to win easy trophies at Barca call me bitter but the Barca folks and players know he is just taking opportunity of a perfect team that others have worked hard to put together.

They will remind him one day that he left them once and jumped ship when he hasn’t won trophies as quickly has he could. So i hope Cesc is happy and for Nasri , he should ask Barry, adam Johnson,Torre,Adebayor,Milner , whether the money is worth it playing in a club where your position is not sure and where everybody are complete strangers to each other , he has not idea does he?

PLEASE LETS SUPPORT WENGER NOW AND ALWAYS BLOW UP THE ROOF OF THE STADIUM AND PUSH THE BOYS MORE WITH OUR SHOUT OF SUPPORT.

SD. Arsenal pay him £6 million a year to rise above that stuff. His only job is to win games and hence trophies. The money men should take care of the money. Wenger must provide a team that wins. If he can’t do that then let someone else try. A man in his position cannot afford to get bogged down in sentimentality. Cesc gave the club years of his career and Wenger never surrounded him with players of sufficient quality to win anything despite having the opportunities. His judgment has been both excellent and very poor. Nasri is a mere footnote in Arsenal history and is quite unimportant. What is critical is now and Wenger must seize the chances these windfalls offer. I think everyone wants to see him succeed.

Morning all.
here is an extract from a book that reflected on what ills Arsenal FC and in particular Arsene Wenger:

Arsene Wenger’s Eleven Commandment at Arsenal FC:
“There is no medal better than being acclaimed for your style” Johann Cryuff

But PSV openly embrace “result football” and their unsentimental coach ROnald Koeman approaches big CL matches with the tactics adn spirit of Otto Rehhagel’s Greece. With the exception of Louis van Gaal at little AZ, no one seems much interested in playing with style and adventure any more. On TV, commentators even sneer at Arsene Wenger’s dazzling Arsenal version of Total Football. “Yeah, it’s nice to watch.” said Wim Kieft “…..but it’s not efficient enough.”

“Everybody in Holland is now convinced the 4-3-3 system as advocated by Cryuff cannot be played anymore,” say Henk Spaan. “The game is so physical nwo and the midfield is so voercrowded you cannot play with wingers in front of the ball. In the 70s, a midfield player ran bewteen 4 and 4.5 kilometers per match. Now it is between 10 and 12 kilometers per match. And winger in front of the ball runs only 4 or 5 kilometers. So any team using old-fashioned wingers loses about 10km running in their game……”

Are the old ideals dead?
“Yes. It is more cnrete now. People say winning is more important than the beauty of the game.”

Spaan insists Cryuff’s credibility is shot: “Johan Cryuff used to be an eminence grise. Now he’s like the angry old men on the Muppet Show. Really he doesn’t have a clue, though he used to. He ahs become a bad influence on Dutch Football. Cryuff is unhappy with everyhting and everything he says and does has a hidden agenda. I don’t take him seriously anymore. Everyone used to respect him. Theye ven respect hsi lack of verbal intelligence. But people don’t respect him now. He is always meddling and never takes responsibility……………….”

………………………………………

The verdict of Simon Kuper is even harsher. “When people retire in any profession they stop thinking – and Cryuff stopped coaching and thinking innovatively in 1996. He’s a control freak. Everything he says has to be right, and has to be proved to be right all the time. It’s like Islam: no development is possible.

Cryuff says: ‘You must play dominant football…..play your own game and don’t adjust to your opponent…..Never adjust.’

But that’s not a rule of football. That’s just his personality. He has become rigid and dogmatic, as if Dutch Football has to be a tribute band to the 70s and observe every single oddity of the 70s style. In the 70s, Cryuff was young and revolutionary and sexy. But all revolutionaries get old and reactionary eventually. In ageing hippy terms what he’s doing now is like refusing to accept that 1968 is over.”

Kuper insists effective football is not only a matter of technique and tactics; it also depends on physical strength. “If you can field a bunch of dwarves in midfield you’ll never have the ball.”

Cryuff also misreads his own past, Kuper claims. “1974 is now seen as almost purely spiritual. But Krol, Neekens, Suurbier and the rest were tough guys. At Euro 2000, Rijkaard was a realist and Stam, Davids, Cocu and Kluivert were chunky boys too. But look at the players now: Van der Vaart……Robben…..Sneijder! Van Persie is the only one with a body.”

Aligning himself with Guus Hiddink and Foppe, he says nice football is perfectly possible without 4-3-3.

“4-4-2 cannot be as stupid as Cryuff says it is. Holland won in 1988 with 4-4-2. In any case, players’ capacity to move between lines means formations are increasingly fluid and less relevant than they were. It is sensible to make adjustments. Even Louis van Gaal abandoned 4-3-3……..

‘The answer must have somehting to dow ith 4-3-3. Ajax is also a tribute band, a ridiculous attempt to recreate 1973. They would do much better if theya ccepted theya re a mid-ranking European team, and adopted tactics and expectations accordingly. If they want to win matches at home, yes, they can also play 4-4-2 and be defensive. But any Ajax coach who did that would be slaughtered by Voetbal International, and Telegraal and Cryuff.”

Extract from David Winner “Brilliant Orange – The Neurotic Genius of Dutch Soccer” 2008.
______________________________________________________________________

Isn’t it a good description of what is happening at Arsenal FC with Arsene Wenegr still living in delusion over what he achieved in 1996 to 2004 best described by this paragraph:

That’s just his personality. He has become rigid and dogmatic, as if Dutch Football has to be a tribute band to the 70s and observe every single oddity of the 70s style. In the 70s, Cryuff was young and revolutionary and sexy. But all revolutionaries get old and reactionary eventually. In ageing hippy terms what he’s doing now is like refusing to accept that 1968 is over.”

I would say that we should go back to 4-4-2 and fulfil his promise to Theo to paly him as a central striker with Van Persie – Walcott pairing.

With our perennail “Horrendous Injury List started so early in August instead of October/November, it is worthed a punt to play 4-4-2 against Liverpool:

……………………………..Szczesny

….Sagna……..Koscielny…….Vermaelen……Jenkinson

….Lansbury……..Frimpong…..Ramsey…….Arshavin

…………………….Van Persie…..Walcott

With Wilshere, DJourou, Gibbs, Tarore, Rosicky croaked..and Gervinho and Song suspended, it is kind of hard to field an experienced-11 this weekend.

let’s hope Wenger will get a move on to sign Cahill, Hazard, M’villa, Sow, Jadson, Mata…..or any 3 out of that bunch of usual suspects.

SD – don’t support Wenger, support the team. They are the ones that need it right now, as the squad weaknesses are clear to them all.

As for whether its Arsene’s fault or not for moving slowly in the transfer market I would say first he’s spent nearly £25mn this close season and hasn’t fixed any of the issues we had in the side (CB, CM, support for Van Persie up front) and second, what has happened this season is a repeat of the last few years…positive comments about ‘super super’ players right up to the season ticket renewal cut-off date, no activity over the summer and then a rush to sign somebody/anybody in August.

He could be excused if this happened once – but every season?

cahill iagree would make a good signing for arsenal he will play in the middle with kos and verm at left back or it is possible le boss might go with 3 centre backs now kos is starting to settle he is looking like a class act and now we have verm back we have one of the best pairings in the prem the way we play open attacking football means we will always concede goals unless we start to park the bus this will always be the case we have to count on our midfield tto create chances for our attack with the arrival of gervino we have strengthened in that department but with the loss of fab and nas we need 2 quality players eden hazard is perfect for arsenal his cousin verm already plays for us with real mad and barca and half of europe interested we need to act fast the next player i would buy is mata his will to win and stamina is something were are lacking you might say we would have a overload of wingers but theo / gervino could play through the middel in attack
and mata / hazard can supply the flair

Signings with balls of steel. Just a little bit of nasty please! We are far too nice! Where’s the passion? The desire to batter the opponents to submission? Wheres the dominator? The tackler to get you off your seat and applaud and growl like a madman in the terraces! We have a team full of nice men (or boys). Now I’m not promoting signing thugs. Just a couple of hard battlers… winners! That passion will rub off on the nice boys of the side. We fans love Arsenal’s football, it’s a delight, it’s a pleasure, and it can be devastating. But we also love a crunching tackle that starts a glorious footballing move… But we dont have that fight at the moment, that spirit (arsene, i would love to know your definition for this word you use oh so much). Towards the end of last season (and the start of this) we give the impression of not really minding 2 dropped points here and there. I dont care that we are short of numbers, i dont care that we miss key players. Passion, drive, will to win, bodies on the line, getting angry when you lose, winners, players with some spunk! That is what we need! For Christs sake why shake hands and cuddle with Barton at the end of the Newcastle game? And let’s be honest Song was a complete idiot – what he did was stupid, petulant and wring. But even when he was pi$$Ed off, agitated, frustrated…. What did he do? Thats right – he ‘stamped’ on Barton, politely!!! Politely, really. Gentlemen of the game – Come on, let’s get some balls! the fans need to see it, hard, fair, passionate! Its an opportunity to rebuild (and yes, it should have been done months ago). Lets not miss this opportunity Arsenal. Invest wisely. The clock is ticking. No excuses. Spend on guts! Spend on class! Spend! Come on you Gunners!

Just on Sky sports Chelsea have bid 22 million for Juan Mata and promised him the number 10 shirt but bid was rejected. And another player on our radar is Gary Cahil. Liverpool have made an offer plus player exchange for him. Looks like if Wenger don’t pull his finger out all our targets will go elsewhere. If we lose any of them Wenger should pissoff he is losing the trust in any Arsenal supporters and has lost the plot. The team we have now will struggle for 10th.

Merlin96; Walcott will play in the central this season, he stepped up on Tuesday and with more play like that, he is the best to flash past defenders and slot in a cross. The last minute miss of Tuesday will be a lesson for him he will bury the ball next time.

Adam, Wenger is human we all forget and he didn’t start earning £6mill on his arrival he had to earn it.
Wenger frustrates all of us and he has made so many mistakes in the past five years.
But he is the most revolutionary coach in the PL and every coach wishes they could do what he is doing at Arsenal.
In Morinho’s brilliance he couldn’t keep his job because despite the trophies, the owner didn’t like the way the team looked.
Call me naive but Wenger brought the cool back to English PL and being our coach just makes us cool.We will get there , patience my brother patience.

MY advice to Wenger now is to start adding release clauses to up and coming arsenal stars namely; Walcott,Wilshere, Ramsey,Oxlade, before Man city et al starts stealing them at their best.

I suggest £50mil release clauses, that should send the predators away, i thought that was what those directors and CEO are there for? Damn it i should be on the board and wake them up.Cesc should have being sold for £50mil.

If Cahill ended up at ManCity or CFC, then due to the financial packages involved i could understand.

Wenger already said he won’t sign Jadson.

I liked Wenger’s quote about paying big money for “average” players – it’s not often Wenger is so forthright about the quality of some of the players we’re being linked to.

Doesn’t change the fact that we still have to sign clear-cut quality though. Truth is, we may still have to till Aug 31 for it to happen.

Fellow gooners…..I have the sinking feeling that we will not sign any top players this year. Reason being 1) Wanker has left it to late in his haste to accomondate Cesc and Nasri sales and to make the transaction for the said players as smooth and painless as possible. Never mind the suffering of the fans. 2) Signing a world class centre back…well that will kill jenkinson ditto with Ramsay/Frimpong/Wilshire and can you just imagin what it will do to poor Chamack if Benzema would walk in the door?!!By Next wednesday night we will be out of the champions leouge and by the following Sunday afternoon we will be bottom of the premier or there abouts. And i honestly cant say that I am surpriced if this will happen…..Hope and pray it wont but knowing what he has done in the past I am not surpriced if it will develop like i saied.

Hi Rico,

Lots of mind games being played by Wenger however Hazard would mean Theo could move up front in a Wrighty type role.

For me we need another three, Hazard, another Cesc, and a Central defender.

Then re-evaluate in Jan, and for once we would have money to spend.

Allow me to go off topic lads but please bear with me.its about barca but please bear with me.watching them play their backline is nowadays composed of alves/pique/adriano/masch/puyol/busquets.from that backline puyol is the only pure defender and abidal.the rest are essentially midfielders.in their forwardline only villa is a pure striker.it seems to me that barca are heading towards a fluid 1-10-0 formation predicted by Bilic and Capello as the next stage in football tactics evolution whereby they’ll essentially have 10 midfielders controlling the space all over the pitch exerting total domination to their opponents.to do this expect the few remaining specialists in their team in villa/puyol/abidal to be slowly phased out and in their spots expect cesc/thiago/sanchez to be brought in.if my predictions are correct they’ll play 10 outfield players who are universal;can defend and attack in equal measure.this will allow them to have cesc/xavi/iniesta in the same line up since their entire line up will just be a huge midfield block.any thoughts?

Just finished watching the Tuesday match.

Rico, to answer your quesiton, I doubt we will proceed further nad most likely be knocked out by Udinese with a 2-1 or 3-1 scoreline next Wednesday.

Look at how Udinese dominated the mdifield after 20-minutes when overcame thier initial jittery and started to voer-run our MIDFIELD.

If not for Szczesny and Vermaelen, plus abysmal finishes by Udinese, we would have lost that game instead of keeping a clean-sheet.

Udinese sliced through our cnetre like a hot knife thru’ butter, tricky wing-play with direct and accurate passing to bypass our FB; but liek Arsenal, their final ball and finishes led ’em down.

In Fatc, it was Udinese playing like the home team and looked most likely to score. We may have the most possessions, but we did zilch with it at hte last third.

Gervinho again palyed flashy football, but no substance with hsi powderpuff crosses kept hittign the first defender…so were the rest of crossings by our players.

None of our players in midfield cna keep the ball, dictate the rhythm of play and the knakc of Fabregas to LOOK UP, picks his passes and not the predictability of Ramsey’s passes that telegraph to Udinese defenders and midfielders.

There is no guile in our plays, just simple direct football that is easily anticipated and intercepted by Udinese defenders and midfielders.
We really missed WIlshere’s ability to change the direction of plays in an instance.

Ramsey simply does not have this ability to change th direction of play in an instant, plus te knack of WIlshere to perform a reverse pass in an instant.

If Van Persie and WIlshere are not available for next Tuesday match, Udinese can knock us out.

Hopefully, the defend and midfield will rise to the occassion and play out of their skins to keep another clean-sheet. Trust Van Persie remains healthy and gives us that vital away goal.

Lastly, time for Walcott to stand talla dn terrorise Udinese with his apce, and again, he must score at elast once next Tuesday.

Udinese at home is a different kettle of fish and I will expect ’em to score at least a goal and a chance to score 2 or 3 gqaols if tehy over-run our MDIFIELD like they did on Wednesday.

Hi Rico.

So many conflicting opinions on here. I don’t know what Monaco have won without Wenger, but I know they won nothing following his ideal of youth, I can’t comment on the alledged corruption, I’ve heard nothing about it and I know that we’ve won not a damn thing. It’s not going to work.

If he said that he has bought in quality this window in reference to AOC, Ryo, Jenk, and Gerv, what the hell makes any of us think he will buy more/better? As far as he seems to be concerned he’s done what he needs to.

As far as I’m concerned, he has bought one player (Gerv) for right now, and the others are all ‘could be’ quality signings.

All I know is if we aren’t going to go and protest, we just need to support as best we can and hope for the best.

He doesn’t care that people know we have money, when has he ever shown that he cares what others know? If he doesn’t want to spend it, he won’t.

so nas looks to finally be on his way out…common sense won out in the end…make him stay in order to run down his contract in the end, and arsenal would be the only losers…

once the 31st has passed, whether we buy anyone else or not, i think arsenal football club needs to – once and for all – make clear to all supporters just what kind of state the club is in financially, and what our true ambitions are…

if the money we are getting from these sales needs to be diverted towards the debt, fine…explain that. if we need to develop youth for another couple of years so we can get out from under the burden of the new stadium in reasonably good shape, fine…tell us that. just – for once – be upfront and honest with the supporters. don’t reat us like something you find sticking to the sole of your shoe.

arsene is getting killed right now over this. if he is being intransigent, then he deserves what he gets. but if the club is putting restraints on what he can do because of the financial sitatuation, they owe it to him and use to come clean and level with us.

sure there will be supporters that will hate it and jump ship. that is their choice. but i think our often disingenous board will find that a little honesty can go a long way…many of us will be happy to adjust our expectations and enjoy what we have now -i know i will…a frank, forthright statement from the club will also dispel much of the media driven crisis frenzy. if the club can come out and tell us the true state of things, that will reduce many of the paper-selling salacious headlines we are currently subjected to…

oh, and i would very much like such a statment to come from the mouth of our majority shareholder. i think that is the least he can do for us.

About Wenger not spending, do you really think thats his dicision, many supporters are calling time on Wenger, but if you look back to the last few games of last season and watched Wenger strangling throttleing and kicking that bottle do you not honestly think he would buy the kind of players that your asking for, The man is Mr Arsenal he is like a stick of Blackpool rock with Arsenal going right through him, watching him on the touchline tells me he would love to do a Man city and spend spend spend but he has morals he believes in fair play rules , and apart from that he has not got the keys to the safe.

things are rarely black and white, but as i see it, either arsene is intransigent and refuses to bring in quality experience. or the board is hiding behind that perception and allowing our manager to – in the infamous words of john d. erlichman – to “twist slowly, slowly, in the wind”…

hi ricco…if the club cannot see what all this is doing the supporters, i will say that the people running it are unfit to do so…

too often our board acts like they have things to hide. i believe because this is because they want it both ways: they don’t want to spend, yet want to give the illusion that we have money and can invest. probably a desire to sell tickets contributes this…but it needs to stop – now. they need to level with us, so we can ajust expectations, stop worrying about collateral issues, and get on with the business of rooting for our team. how can they not see what this is doing to everyone?

I believe Wenger is obsessed with the idea of RInus Michels” Ajax Model of Team Building” where you build a team from scratch, starting at Hale End Academy where a group of 9 years old, playing together from creche to senior team, all friends on-and-off-the pitch, joyously playing for each other with harmony in the dressing room.

Hence his reluctance to buy expensive players as a football purist will display repugnance on financial doping in buying expensive players to buy titles and trophies.

In his early days, the money he spent in buying VIeira, Henry and Pires are the equivalent of 25+ mil transfer fees in today’s money.

As long as Wenegr is aorund, we have to learn to live with him in his obsession to hand-pick, nurture, coach and mentor a group of 9 to 16 year old youngsters into a TEAM.

His 3rd team in Fabregas had jsut went belly-up, dead as a dodo.
Now, he has the nucleus of a 4th TEAM to work on, hopefully with an English Spine this time.

SUpporting Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal team is an emotional roller coaster ride with all its exhilarating emotional high and depressive pits.

Just hold tight and enjoy the Ride!

oliver

will, i think the players are generally aware that cash may be limited…or, that we may be flush with cash.

an up-front, honest concession that we have no money will make arsene’s job of focusing on youth and developing players so much easier. and it will allow the supporters to adjust our expectations for competing/trophies accordingly. to me, i would take that – even if the cost would be the likes of robin, theo, jack, szczesny and tv following our recent departures out the door. there would be no more illusion that we can win the league/cl under these conditions – that alone would be a significant black cloud lifted…

sure, some supporters will hate it…to any of them, i would say that is a “you” (i.e. not the club’s, not mine) problem…i think the club will find that a lot more supporters would accept and understand.

there will be other thorny issues – such as ticket hikes – to deal with, but they have a better chance of being resolved in an atmosphere of honesty and open-ness, rather than in one of deceit and perpetual mistrust…

oliver
oliver

the other side of this argument is that the board comes clean that there is plenty of cash available to strengthen the side, and that it has been made available to arsene and that he has chosen not to invest in quality and experience for the first team…if this is the case – and we must allow for this possibility – then arsene makes his position virtually untenable…

Rico,

Wenger had demonstrated previously that he will spend as necessary:

WIll this season be a repeat of 1998/99 £23m Anelka Transfer funds?

If you all can recalled that Wenger started his 2nd Arsenal Team with ANelka Transfer Funds by buying:
1 – Henry
2 – Pires
3 – Gilberto
4 – WIltord

Therefore the signs are good with Fabregas-Nasri £60m Transfer funds, he can now buy the following players (not all of ’em..lol) to transform the squad into his 4th TEAM:
1 – Hazard
2 – Mata
3 – Jadson
4 – Sow
5 – Cahill or Samba or Jagiielka or Mertesacker???

FIngers crossed and hope History will repeat itself.

Oliver, do you read Arsenal Review US…?
Is it a blog or a magazine???

oliver
oliver

nope, not yet…i’ll be here longer than yesterday, so i still have a few more hours to go…

arsenal in crisis headlines sell better than spurs in crisis…

there is also the factor that we lose cesc and nas, and are looking almost down to bare bones…it’s wonderful if campbell gets a work permit and miyaichi is included in the first team squad from saturday on…but i don’t think either are ready for matches such as away at old trafford…and the way this season has gone so far, it is not out of the realms of possibility that at least one of them could actually start there…we just don’t have much experience in depth…tons of youth in depth, but at this moment i think we need more of the former than the latter…

actually, i don’t read it…i have to confess that i am not familiar with it…

i don’t read that many blogs to be honest…i scan the headlines and read posts that catch my eye, but there are only a couple of sites i go to regularly…

I’ll tell what matey, i think we just better be prepared to get our arses whipped at OT.
Wipes our mouths…
And move on…
Get past Udinese and then the season starts for me home to Swansea…
Our opening fixtures have almost been like some kinda stitch-up by some ‘In Arsene We Rust’ merchant at the Prem Lge.

hahahaha…someone on that thread already rolled out the borders smack…likening our club to the bookseller that is currently liquidating assets after failing to find a buyer to rescue them from chapter eleven proceedings…

actually, borders story saddens me a bit…barnes and noble is the bigger chain over here, but i always enjoyed going to a borders and browsing/having a coffee for a few hours…there is a borders a few minutes from our house, and it is sad to see now…

not sure if they have in the uk – i don’t remember seeing any when i lived there…the only overseas outleft i can recall is the big corner store on orchard road, singapore…i was in that store just two years ago, bought a couple of tintin books for my kids.

I read a few blogs, but this is the only one i go on, it’s easily the friendliest [spelling]…
So you don’t contribute to any US blogs then?
There certainly seems to be quite a few, i’ve been pleasantly suprised by the growing interest Arsenal have in the States.

Yeah, we have Borders over here.
Do you get Waterstones &/or WH Smiths on your side?
I simply love a bookshop, there’s something really satisfying about leafing thru a book….
When you was over here, you should have gone to Foyles in Charing Cross Road, where all the bookshops are…

oliver

prior to last season, i occasionally participated in avenell road (where ricco blogged prior to starting this one) and lady arse…right now, i don’t even know if avenell is blogging any more. i enjoyed the few times i was able to banter and exchange views with ms. hurley and co on lady arse, but since the start of last season, i have commented only on here and intend to stay here…

Unfortunately the web, IPads etc are having an adverse effect on bookshops, quite a few in Charing X Rd have gone.
But i still prefer flicking the pages of a book to reading on-line, a book can always [as a rule] go into more detail on any given subject i feel.

Forget Cahill. Liverpool are giving Bolton NGog whom they had bid for anyway plus 14m – no Sterling. He is too young 16 years so the rules don’t allow. Left it a bit late to sell those 2. now Arsen has to rush to buy whoever – no time to negotiate.

hi ricco…nothing comfirmed…i expect a press conference at eastlands sometime tomorrow to make nas’ transfer to city official…

ricco, i think he will get starting minutes…i would caution him, however, that he had better deliver…should he pull the second half vanishing act we were treated to last season, i don’t think mancini will indulge him as arsene seemed to do…

if city do not like what they bought, they can simply turf him out to the reserves and write him off. they have already done so to adebayor…

oliver
oliver

spuds 4-0 up…i know it is only hearts, but….

still, at least we should be thankful we don’t have a nut-job such as v. romanov for owner…

oliver
oliver

ricco, i am not going to go as far as wish him ill…rather, i’ll treat him with indifference. his departure weakens us, as we lose experience and some quality from the squad…however, as time goes on, he will fade from memory…within a few years, someone will vaguely recall midfielder samir nasri doing something or other – occasionally – while he was here…

nas himself is about to get an object lesson on money and it’s relative importance…he already has a reputation – and not a very flattering one at that – and may well find that arsenal was as big as it will ever get for him.

Even if we get a couple of players its still a worrying sign. Why did we leave it late to get them…..why not over the summer. By now the players would have bedded in and known each other better. allezkev

I’ll be honest with ya Stan, no joking, i don’t think we’ll get Mata…
Maybe Arsenal were never in for him in the first place?
But i think we might get a midfielder, now that it looks certain that Nasri is going…
It’ll probably be a player whose not been mentioned at all before this summer… So i haven’t a clue who it could be.

Here is a manager whose head is in the sand.Fans and analysts have known for years what needs to be done to make the gunners competitive.Wenger thinks he is right all the time yes 100% .
I just hope Liverpool run riot against Arsenal with Suarez begging a hat trick. This should force him to rethink his strategy.
If not, with the red faced c**t preparing to eliminate him for good,he should ,unless he is totally irrational to see the error of hiw ways.

I am really fed up of this ‘if we get the right player we will spend’ comment from Wenger. I guess finding the right player is his job.

Will
Will

Not at all Rico, just full of cold and tired last night.

Kev, now you see what Wenger is up against. When it was only Man Utd spending obscene amounts, we only had them to worry about. Plus, back then, the transfer market was not inflated like it is now.

Because there are a couple of teams willing to pay £30M for a player, all teams say well, if he is worth x, our player is worth x and then only those chosen teams can afford the players.

EastSidePaul
EastSidePaul

I can’t personally see many coming in at this stage, I also believe Wenger has sat on his hands all summer, just hoping everything will be alright. Business should have been started and finished the first two weeks of July. And for people thinking that business will be done in the last few hours of the window, why would it be? I mean, who will sell any player of quality with only a few hours to replace him? Unless we pay well over the odd for a player, which i can’t see happening, no one will be brought in.

Here is what happens, its final hour we stick in a few laughable bids for maybe Cahill and a midfielder, they get rejected, then Wenger turns around as he aways does after lying to us for the entire summer and says “Well we tried, the quality wasn’t out there, overpriced, happy with our squad, we are young blah blah blah….”
and then we as fans are suppose to sit there and like it, while we pay the higher prices for tickets to watch a team that gets worse and worse every year. Make no bones about it, this is the worst side we have ever seen under Wenger and he has no intentions of doing anything about it.

I reserved my judgement over Wengers future at the club to see what would happen this summer, would he strip the squad bare and start again, bringing in the players we needed? No, he didn’t. We booed and booed at the end of last season to send a message to Wenger and the board that we are not happy, but yet again we have been ignored. Its time for a change I think.

EastSidePaul
EastSidePaul

But Will what happens when we say our captain that has four years left on his contract is worth X but you can have him for y because we have zero spine and would really like any money you can throw at us. Why are everyone elses players in an inflated market, yet we are happy to sell ours at “reduced” price?

Will
Will

Because we are too nice Paul, I have said for a while it is time we entered the real world rather than still playing the traditional “Bank of England” club.

Other clubs have turned into sharks, time we did.

EastSidePaul
EastSidePaul

Will I agree, I also think buy-out clauses should now be placed on every contract, 60-70m on every player we do business with. I can’t believe that when Cesc signed a new contract with us a few years back a 70m buy-out clause wasn’t slapped on it.

Same with Henry I mean 16m for one of the greatest players to have ever played in the Premiership?
