I absolutely love our third kit, yellow shirts, blue shorts – it’s almost perfect in my opinion. Bright colours are my thing, they’re up lifting. Shame the third kit isn’t our second kit but hey, one doesn’t always get what one wants in life.
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal made an offer to Newcastle Utd for Bruno Guimarães yesterday which was rejected. Interestingly, neither David Ornstein or Fabrizio Romano have reported on this story.
If Mikel Arteta wants him at the club badly enough, I’m pretty sure the two clubs will reach an agreement. Guimarães has already said he wants the move, according to reports anyway and his current club are close to signing his replacement. Again though, this is what’s written in the media so it’s far from gospel.
Arsenal have already made three signings this summer, the first of which was Piero Hincapie. Making his loan deal permanent is a big deal in my opinion because he’s a cracking player. Illan Meslier came in next and then Christos Tzolis.
If Arsenal can get Bruno Guimarães through the door, I think it will have been a good transfer window but add in another defender and attacking player, it will be even better.
The other big name linked to us is Vinicius Jr who has now returned to Real Madrid for pre-season training. Talks over a new contract will no doubt be the focus for his camp so all we can do is see how this unfolds. Meanwhile, I hope Andrea Berta has a plan b because a big part of me still thinks we as a club are being strung along or that this story is little more than a red herring. We’ll see.
The club needs to shift some players though because right now, the squad is top heavy in numbers. Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus, Christian Norgaard and Reiss Nelson need to find another club and one can only hope they are in the process of doing so. Norgaard is expected to undergo a medical at Everton today ahead of his departure. (The Athletic)
Just as important as new players is having the players we already have at the club available for most of the season. Riccardo Calafiori, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, Mikel Merino, Ben White and Kai Havertz all missed chunks of the season.
We were not the worst hit according to the above table but it’s not just about the minutes missed it’s about who missed the minutes. It certainly makes winning the Premier League an even greater achievement really.
To end on transfers, I hope that by the time we get to the close of this transfer window, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri are still at the club. We need them…

Reports in Italy claim Arsenal have held talks to offload the teenager during this summer’s transfer window.
Transfer expert Carlo Pellegatti says Arsenal have held ‘advanced talks’ with RB Leipzig over a summer move, while AC Milan have also been in contact.
It is claimed Arsenal would demand between £30m and £35m to sell Nwaneri but insist on a buy-back clause of around £50m.
Those fees should be the other way around if true.

Wenger has to be the favourite to replace Infantino surely. At least he’s honest. I think.
Should Infantino get the bullet , Wenger might well be in the running for his post however I doubt that he is over enamoured with Trump and for football’s sake that’s probably a good thing.
I don’t think Wenger should resign either, it’s not his doing..

That third kit is nice, but that all blue second kit is the business.
Arsenal have always been a buying club. We have broken the British transfer record four times with David Jack signed from Bolton Wanderers for 10,647 quid in 1928, Bryn Jones from Wolves for 14,000 quid in 1938, Alan Ball from Everton for 220,000 quid in 1971, Dennis Bergkamp from Inter for 7.5 million quid in 1995. We also got pretty close to the record with Alex James, SuperMac and Declan.
The only time we broke the record for a sale was in 1999 when Super Nic Anelka fetched 22.5 million from Real Madrid. With the proceeds Arsene built the training facility at London Colney and purchased a certain Thierry Henry.
The 35 mill we got for Ox was good value at the time but, yes the club cert’s needs to up its game with sales.

Arsenal have given Christian Norgaard permission to have a medical with Everton, Sky Sports News understands.
The midfielder has not travelled with Arsenal’s squad to Dublin ahead of his proposed move to Everton.
I think Tzolis was 19 when at Norwich. Not surprised he struggled, the club did in general I believe.
I fully expect Vinicius to stay at Madrid.

Just heard that our hot air balloon ride, this evening, has again been cancelled due to adverse winds.
We first booked in May last year and paid. Since then twelve bookings have all been cancelled for the same reason. Every time they cancel a booking we are given six months to re-book but they do not offer refunds for cancelled flights.
I’m thinking of bequeathing the the balloon ride to my ten year old grandson as I fear I shall either be too old to take the flight or even dead. 😉

I’m glad you mentioned selling some of the unwanted,that’s so important,Norgaard was announced last week,Vieira in the pipeline (not sure if either is official yet) I read somewhere our record fee received is £35m for Alex Oxlade – Chamberlain all those years ago,unbelievable.
I’m hopeful about Guimaraes,there’s been so much noise,I just hope Chelsea or Man City don’t nip in and sign him up- wouldn’t surprise anyone. To a lesser extent Vini,but we all expect him to stay in Madrid. If he goes to Chelsea or City all hell would break loose!
G’day Rico, new third kit? Just another bit of expensive promotional kit. I have only two Arsenal shirts, one the real thing bought for me by my two sons some years ago, the other, with Bergkamp’s name on the back cost me about three pounds fifty from a street market in Turkey even longer ago, they had spelt the great man’s name wrong.
On comings and goings, Bruno will arrive I am sure, Vinicius I seriously doubt. Norgaard will sign for Everton this week.
If I’m wrong about Vinicius then Martinelli will be sold and that would be a pity.
I didn’t realise that our new bubble played a season in the Premiership for new promoted Norwich City, that didn’t go well but the experience gained was a good thing.
