Bellerin proves his worth to Arsenal….

A sponsored article to keep the site fresh until the Totts preview…

Having left Barcelona at the age of 16 to move to Arsenal, Hector Bellerin could be forgiven for questioning his decision during a tough start to life at the Emirates. Following a productive loan spell in the Championship with Watford last season, Bellerin has slowly established himself as an important part of Arsene Wenger’s first-team squad. After making 20 appearances in the league in the last campaign, Bellerin has cemented himself as Arsenal’s first-choice right-back, ousting Mathieu Debuchy in the side over the past few weeks.

While the Spain U21 international could do little to stop Chelsea running out 2-0 winners over the Gunners in a heated clash at Stamford Bridge, in a game that saw two Arsenal players sent off, Bellerin’s stock continues to rise this season and it looks as though the right-back could be the next youngster off the production line. As with a number of players over the years, Arsenal have a history of bringing talented foreign players to the club as teenagers and bringing them through the ranks.

In the current squad, the likes of Francis Coquelin, Joel Campbell and Mathieu Flamini all moved to North London as teenagers from overseas before breaking into the senior squad.

It remains to be seen whether Bellerin will go on to enjoy a career like Cesc Fabregas and other Arsenal graduates have, but at the moment it looks as though the Gunners have a real player on their hands in the shape of the 20-year-old defender. The youngster’s progression earned him a new contract extension in the summer, with the club rewarding Bellerin and ensuring the Spaniard won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Playing in a team that many think will finish in the top-four this year, the defender looks set to have a big role to play this season.

With Debuchy and Calum Chambers also in the squad, Bellerin will be well aware that he cannot afford to let his level of performances drop this season if he’s going to keep his place in the team. On the evidence of his displays so far this season, though, the young defender is growing into a genuine Premier League right-back and a player who could have a huge impact on Arsenal going forward. With experienced professionals, such as Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny alongside him in this Gunners defence, Bellerin has been able to learn his trade from players who have been there and done it before. Arsenal fans could well be looking at someone who will be at the club for a long time to come.

Saves me writing eh… 😉

In an act of totally unprecedented common sense the FA have rescinded Gabriel’s 3-match ban for the red card issued by half moron-half rodent Mike Dean.

  2. Dave says:

Gabriel’s ban being overned is not justice.
Justice would be to suspend Mike Dean, lengthy ban for Costa (got away with many stamps last season too) & dock Chelsea the three points due pre-mediated behaviour with referee’s support and Jose’s comments and behaviour to the press.

  3. Wavy says:

Sadly they haven’t rescinded the other charge of “irrelevant conduct” as a result of his sending off and his remonstrations at such an absurd decision! So he could still find himself guilty for an act that occurred as a result of a miscarriage of justice! Now just where does that leave the state of common law?
We live in hope that common sense will prevail but, I’m not holding my breath!
My guess is they’ll ban him for one game and fine him for being a naughty little boy! He’ll miss the slums game but be back for the Leicester game on Saturday. I could just about live with that, altough I think it flies in the face of natural justice!

Begs a question all this, what happens to darling little Diego?

  4. rico says:

Wavy, I teckon it’ll be a fine for the improper conduct charge. They’d look tits to ban him after overturning the red card…

    Adam, just half rodent? ?

  5. Rick says:

    Evening Rico and the house.
Shocking day down south pouring with rain all day.
Adam its egg on face time for all these ex footballers turned pundits who have been slagging
Gabby off for what happened on Sat.
Writing in the Mail Ashton and Mokbel stated Arsenal have played their part in this saga , disgracing themselves with a frivolous appeal against Gabriel’s punishment.
Well done Arsene now get him off the other charge,

  6. rico says:

Evening Rick.. It’s been dreadful weather here too…

Tbh, I was surprised Arsenal appealed but I’m sure glad they did… As Scott had said before, we’ve long wanted a guy with something about him and Gabriel certainly has that…

  7. Rick says:

Rico with Costa being charged and Gabbys red card being overturned by the FA
some action must be taken against Dean.
It looks like some of the youngsters will be in the squad against the spuds.
Macey Kamara Iwobi and a player named Robert Pires all trained with the first team today
By the way wellcome back hope you had a good holiday.

  8. Tai says:

Good stuff, Rico…was appalled no post came up today.

Surprised that any FA decision could go Arsenal’s way…so what happens to the idiot, Dean who made the wrong decision in the first place? A pat on the back?

When next Gabriel takes to the pitch at The Emirates, fans should give him loud standing ovation. He’s not just a hardnut, he can be absolutely efficient.

  9. Rick says:

Todays getting better by the minute
Dr Carneiro is leaving the chavs and is considering her legal position.
I hope she takes them to the cleaners and then joins us.

  10. rico says:

Thanks Rick. We all know nothing will happen to Dean. In fact I bet he blamed the linesman for not helping him out…

Tai, it’s hard producing 365 posts a year, try it and you’ll realise. Lol

Seriously, this last few weeks is the first time there’s not been a post every morning and to be honest, does it really matter?

  11. rico says:

Well you feel free to write about Arsenal Tai and email me lol

Seriously, it’s quite different if it’s a living rather than trying to drum up something about a football club which has been doing the same old same old for a few years…..

  12. Tai says:

Rico…I would have loved to do that three times a week but I got many stuff on my table to write – all of which are contracts.

Still, I’ll see what I can offer…for HH

  13. allezkev says:

I’ll tell ya what Rico, today’s post is really a great great post.

Definitely one of your best this year… 😉

  14. allezkev says:

With Gabriel getting justice, and with Costa getting done three games, Mourinhos next presser should be interesting…

What’s the bet, that he storms out…?

  15. allezkev says:

Rick, I see that Toral has come on for Birmingham at Villa…

Hayden and Akpom both started and are playing as the Tigers lead 1-0

    Jenkinson playing for West Ham.

  16. Rick says:

Kev I am told Arsene rates him thats good enough for me.
Did you see the saves that Martinez made for Wolves that won him mom.
At the same time the run that Niles made against Birmingham that won the pen and him mom.
Sad to see that Serge has only played 12mins for WBA since he joined them

  17. Bob John says:

    Hi all
Greetings from very wet Skiathos! While I am pleased that some sort of rough justice has been dealt out. It doesn’t alter the result. It has been proven Dean got it wrong but it can’t get to the real issue of corruption. This is not necessarily financial but officials like Dean have agendas and can be manipulated by clubs like the Chavs and Mancs under Taggart.

  18. scottfromoz says:

    Morning all.
Let’s be honest, we all half expected the FA to shaft us, so any result is a good one.
Rico, I’m always a,aged that you manage to come up with posts on a daily basis, and I doubt anyone would begrudge you a little quiet spell.
The discussion has been maintained, so no harm done, IMO.
Now, for the Spuds game 🙂

  19. Wavy says:

That’s your. Est post in the last three weeks Wath! Fantastic! But wasn’t FOYS a Ref???

In fact I reckon a ten line max post would be a way forward. I am being serious. I’ll see what I can come up with in the next couple of days, if it will help?

  20. scottfromoz says:

    Lol gents…..good calls Hahahahaha.
Well, I’m sure Arsene can afford one but yes, it must have been playing on his mind.
It’s easy to forget players and managers are also just men.

  21. Wavy says:

The demise of Wenger’s marriage may go a long way to explain the loss of his mojo a couple of years ago and also why he signed a new contract last year. He had no home or home comforts to welcome him back to the family mansion! No slippers or pipe waiting after a hard days work at the office.
The split, now public may allow him some freedom to express himself, through his team, now the shackles are off!

    Morning all

  22. tsgh says:

Rick, good to see you around.

Did you see Toral yesterday against BcFC?

Adam- re. Costa ban, it all depends on who you listen to…

A few ex-pros or mercenaries including Cundy have voiced their biased views as you would expect. In their view its all above Arsenal players being soft.. lol

Good morning Rico and all btw…

  23. tsgh says:

If AW makes wholesale chances by bringing in rusty players… the fans won’t be pleased if we lose tonight.

On paper all our b- team should be able to do a job but as with his poor squad management, dropping players into the deep end when they have not started a game since pre-season is always a recipe for disaster. imo

  24. frednerk says:

    Morning All,
Sorry to see Arsene’s marriage on
    the blink
    Mrs Wenger apparently walked-out
    over the constant nagging
    about the shopping bill,
    she wanted waitrose,
    he wanted asda.
    Your coundn’t make that up?
    Could you…………

  25. Wath says:

Ts, player game time is important but as you say so is match fitness and that’s a problem for quite a few of ours….!

Tonight isn’t a game to be pissing about with…! It’s them end of and they need to be beaten…!

  26. tsgh says:

Did AW see the divorce coming or he left it too late again? lol

AW has commented on how his love for football has strained his personal relationship in the past… He mentioned once sitting next to Old fergie at the managers ball that his Mrs wanted him to quit management.

  27. Wath says:

Fred, Also think Wenger knows even inside that stubborn mind of his that he can’t piss about tonight…!

Ts. in my mind football puts a strain on all our relationships with the other half…. Thing is they win and all is good, they lose and I am a miserable bastard for the week and even more miserable than normal…. yes Kev I know I know…. !!

  28. tsgh says:

Dippers trying to persuade Carlito to replace Brenda. lol

Wath- A woman once told me she would never date an Arsenal fan… I wasn’t trying to chat her up btw. 😉

  29. frednerk says:

    Wenger’s not ruthless enough wath,
    it seem’s whoever we play
    he hardly change’s from the
squad mentality..”It’s your turn now son”
I did make you a promise.
It’s never made any sense to me to
make 5/6 changes, for the reason Ts says.
    To many player’s not match-fit.

  30. tsgh says:

    5 in 9 minutes even…

Fred- do you think AW gives them a cuddle before they walk onto the pitch? 🙂

Never played a pro game in my life but I still hold the view that professional footballers earning in a week what it takes most adults in the western world at least 2 years to earn do not need a brave-heart type speech before a game…

  31. Wath says:

Also the problem Fred is not enough in the squad have that built in knowledge of what it means to beat that lot and the importance… just another game it isn’t…!

  32. Adam says:

Many of the tourists I see at the Emirates, with their selfie sticks, away shirts and bags bulging with merchandising, wouldn’t know who Spurs are. They come, they pay and then they go. They are exactly the fans that Syrup loves. True, lifelong fans have been sacrificed on the alter of profitability and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Syrup wanting to move Arsenal to a new site outside London while the Emirates could be converted into a giant Walmart selling half ton bags of dog biscuits.

  33. frednerk says:

You can just imagine little Jack Wiltshire,
wath…right lads Do or Die game to-nite,
them effing yids down the road,
    need a good spanking,roll your
    sleeves up ..This is war.

    What Jack….are you talking to a play-station.

  34. scottfromoz says:

Adam, equally, those fans would never, ever sit up until 2am to watch a game live…..they’re the people who simply go to a game so they can tell their friends they did it 🙂
I know so many who don’t follow football, yet have been to “a game” over there.
    Gotta laugh mate.

  35. Rick says:

    Afternoon Rico and the House.
If tonights game is anything like the U18’s being played now yo are going to see plenty of goals
After 24 mins the spuds were 3-1 up but after 59 mins our boys are 4-3 up
Goals by Fortune Nelson and Robinson (2)
