Bayern Munich – time for Arsenal to make new history.

Morning all.

The Champions League draw yesterday paired us with Bayern Munich. The first leg is at The Emirates Stadium on Tuesday April 9th and then the second leg in Germany takes place the following week on Wednesday, April 17th. It’s a shame we’re not playing the away fixture first because Bayern would have no fans in the stadium because they will be serving a one match ban after their dreadful behaviour against Lazio. With no Bayern fans permitted to attend Arsenal’s home tie, the club will be able to sell those tickets to its own supporters.

Historical meetings between Arsenal and Bayern Munich haven’t been good for Arsenal with some results being embarrassing, however, they’re exactly that, history. This Arsenal team/squad is very different to those awful dark days of Champions League football. We’re built of sterner stuff these days and I fully expect that to evident when the games come around.

Bayern are also very different to what they were back then. Pep Guardiola was one of their managers and that’s just for starters and we all know by now, wherever he goes, great players follow. Carlo Ancelotti was another…

The tie isn’t about Harry Kane, nor is about revenge for the past, it’s simply Arsenal v Bayern in 2024 with the winners playing either Real Madrid or Man City in the semi-final. As I believe should be in real life, let history rest and build a new present and future.

Every quarter-final tie should make good viewing for the neutrals.

Real Madrid v Manchester City
Paris Saint-Germain v Barcelona

This weekend the FA Cup takes over and there are some great ties in the making. Wolves v Coventry kicks off at lunchtime before Man City and Newcastle Utd go head to head later. Tomorrow sees Chelsea take on Leicester City and Man Utd against Liverpool.

I’m not mentioning the women’s game last night. It was awful and I think it’s fair to say that any slim hope they had of becoming WSL champions is over…. Pff!

Short post today, things to do… lol

G’day Rico and all. Springlike here at last.

Three match ups today, Wales v Italy for the wooden spoon. Scotland v Ireland for a good old fashioned punch up where Ireland could win or lose the championship. France v England where, depending on the Scotland v Ireland result, England could win the Championship.

I thought the Wolves – Coventry game was great, end to end from the start, Coventry deserved the win in the end.
Spurs are losing 3-0 right now – always good.

Evening all, boring weekend football wise with no match, but funny news re spurs! Mind you, dont want United crawling into 4th place, that WOULD be undeserved

    Afternoon Rico and all,
I’m happy to be playing Bayern at home first, a good win could help to to keep their fans quiet in the return match.

Is there anything nicer than seeing Klopp in a strop 😂

Mind you, that offside call was ridiculous imo. Just because a player is leaning forward, I don’t think it should be offside.

    New post up
