Morning all.
A Tweet on Twitter is very different than physically making an offer for a football club and just because Daniel Ek is wealthy and supports Arsenal, it doesn’t mean his intentions are clear. Of course he’d probably love to own Arsenal Football Club, I’m sure you and I would too. Same goes for all the ex players throwing their names behind a takeover but as Arsene has said ‘the best deals are done when nobody knows about them’. Although he’s willing to help our ex players any way he can.
If I can help @Arsenal, I will do it as well”

If Daniel Ek is serious then make Stan Kroenke an offer he’d find hard to turn down. Then let’s hear about it. In my opinion, what Daniel Ek has done very well is to add his weight, his financial weight against the Kroenke project. A rich owner together with 3/4 ex invincible players sounds great on paper but in reality, it’d likely be a disaster if they all wanted their voice to be heard.
The good thing about the Kroenke family, possibly the only one is that they leave the board alone, letting them make all the decisions which relate to the day to day running of the club. Arsenal needs to be run in England and not from the USA by a family who probably know very little about English football and how to win the Premier League. All Stan Kroenke needs to be doing is supporting the club financially and not making stupid, potentially catastrophic decisions like entering the club into a Super League. Not now and not ever because until that decision was made public, his name was barely mentioned, certainly not by Mikel Arteta supporters.
Edu and Arteta, no doubt together with others on the Arsenal board have been making big decisions by moving on a number of players. Not only that but the summer was a pretty good one considering the financial difficulties Covid has caused. Willian has proved to be a bit of a disaster but if he’s sold in the summer, then at least the Arsenal board will have realised their mistake. Not every signing proves to be a success, if they were, Salah would still be scoring goals for Chelsea and not Liverpool. Just one example I know but I’m sure there are many more.
I think it was Kev who said the other day that if Arsenal have another good transfer window in the summer and by that I mean sales as well as signings, Stan Kroenke’s name will soon fade into the background. Until the next time.
Whatever is going on with Stan Kroenke, it doesn’t hide the fact that Arsenal should be doing better on the pitch with the squad Mikel Arteta has which is why he’s being criticised regularly. This might sound arrogant but a manager shouldn’t be coming to a club like Arsenal to learn and unless he’s now learns fast, The Emirates won’t be a nice place for him to be stood once the fans are back.
I hope it doesn’t come to that because I want Arsenal to succeed and I want Mikel Arteta to succeed. Not because he’s Mikel Arteta, or because he once played for Arsenal, but because he’s the Arsenal manager.
Winning the Europa Cup would turn this drab season into a very good one. Getting to the final alone though will be tough and it’s certainly not a forgone conclusion or ‘a must’ – at least I don’t think so but I do expect though is to see an Arsenal team well drilled and fully prepared for the challenge. Any player who isn’t prepared to put 95 minutes of football for Arsenal ahead of anything and everything else in their life tomorrow night, shouldn’t even be on the flight to Spain let alone on the pitch.
See you in the comments.
Something weird is going on with the layout, I’m trying to sort it.
According to Arteta, Kieran Tierney is ‘training like a beast’ and could be available tomorrow alongside Aubameyang, Luiz and Lacazette…
Well the club certainly kept a lid on the injuries Rico, leading up to the visit to Spain, that’ll give Emery some more to think about and hopefully a sleepless night tonight…
Thanks for the post…
Morning Kev, great news re Tierney, in fact all of them. Although I hope Mari and Holding play.
Morning all.
Rico, Emery wasn’t learning.
Just saying it’s more about the right manager for the job at hand.
Which bug name, experienced manager would’ve taken the gig knowing the entire squad a new couture needed an overhaul and without a big transfer kitty to spend?
None, imo, so a risk had to be taken and while plenty disagree, I said yesterday we only need to look at the squad and think of the players we hope will be there in 4/5 seasons to see a bright future.
Everyone knew we needed an overhaul and its a shame it takes time, but it does.
To a degree Scott, he was as he’d never managed in the PL so it was new to him as was the English language which he struggled with.
I’m not knocking Arteta because I recognise the club are moving forwards, making big changes to squad etc etc but let’s face it, the squad right now is the best it’s been for a long time and imo, should be doing better than it is.
I just foresee problems for Arteta once the stadiums open to fans again.
Rico, I genuinely can see why people criticise the guy, I just don’t believe they’re justified at times.
I hope Arteta picks a consistent starting 11 from now til seasons end.
Steady the ship and see what happens.
G’day all.
It’s a pity that our next two games are away fixtures as it is important that the fans are able to keep up the pressure on Kroenke. Perhaps AST, could arrange a protest for say midday Saturday, at the Emirates, with plenty of prior publicity it will be picked up by the media, further embarrassing our absent ownership.
That’s football though Scott and Arsenal have been poor for so long, I understand the frustration. No one knows if a more experienced manager would have got more out of the team but when you’ve got egos like a few of our players have, it’s going to be tough for a rookie. Look at what happened with Emery yet if Raúl hadn’t have bossed the transfers, he might have done better.
But we’re where we are..l
That’s it, Rico.
Many spend too much time worrying about we don’t have rather than enjoying what we do.
That’s life in general…..
Not with Covid around though Cicero. I’d imagine the age group of many involved in a protest won’t have been vaccinated.
But what we do have isn’t doing very well Scott. We could go round in circles on this one. Once the fans are back which will hopefully be next season, let’s hope the summer transfers have been positive both in and out and we start the season well.
Rico, we have some superb youngsters learning their trade.
We have a lot of deadwood out the door.
Things are happening…..
I know Scott.
Afternoon Rico and the House
Its rather chilly in Kent today nowhere as warm as Carol said it would be.
It going to be interesting to see who is on the plane this afternoon.
Afternoon Rick, we’ve got the cold and the rain. Garden needs it though. Lol
Bright, sunny, breezy and decidedly chilly in Norfolk.
I don’t actually agree with Cicero about the home games & am glad we only have the one more home game in the EL games ( if we get to the Final) I feel it is most upsetting to the players on the pitch all that furore going on outside last Friday it was awful just listening to it on the TV that helicopter nearly drove me mad . The players do NOT need all that going on outside, if anything it would be better if they were singing Arsenal chants & songs of encouragement , If they have to protest they should protest on other nights /days/ whatever but not when we are playing
Good afternoon Rico and all
Good points in the post. I just hope we win the Europa Cup. And if we dont and Unai does, well it goes to show that he wasn’t the problem. The players were.
Unai was experienced. He had won the Europa cup three times with Sevilla, been to PSG and walked away with the lot. He was sacked and he came to us. He began well….but then lost the dressing room. Yet the squad remained the same with the exception of some signings…..Torreira, Leno. Papas, Guendouzi to name a few. and we lost 4-1
Arteta has a far more difficult job. As Scott pointed out….who would have taken the job knowing fully well that money is tight, the squad needs an mammoth overhaul, playing style needed to be changed, ship stabilized etc. Arteta was well aware and he took the job. On that alone yes he deserves time and new signings.
Yes we should be doing far better on the pitch and that is what was so frustrating this season. Because we all know we could have had better results. This season alone we lost between 9-15 more points because of negligence on our part. There were games were the team was carrying 2 to 3 players who were doing absolutely nothing.
Or after a game Sheila.
Afternoon Devil. I don’t think the problem was entirely Emery’s fault. How could he motivate a team without totally grasping the English language, how could he play ‘his football’ when he wasn’t choosing the players Arsenal signed? Was Raúl trying to sort the squad out in a way that in a way Edu etc appear to be doing? Did they back Emery when he dropped Ozil, a decision he was greatly criticised for yet here we are now saying moving on the ‘troublesome’ players is a great thing?
I think Edu and co are the ones who have made a huge difference to the club because they’re clearly backing Arteta. That’s the kind of thing I’m talking about when saying ‘at least the Kroenke family leave the club alone’. Someone like Roman, would have just sacked Arteta.
Hi Rico and all unless I am mistaken Emery did not want Party it was Raul who chose him, Also I don’t think Raul and Edu really wanted Emery in the first place and that’s why I believe they set him up to fail so they both could have more say in how the club is run and that’s why so many on the board along with some scouts were sacked.
Hi Geoff, Arteta and Edu signed Partey, Emery was long gone. I think you mean Torreira as Emery wanted N’Zonzi apparently.
Gazidis and Raul were behind the Emery appointment, Edu was yet to arrive at the club.
Sheila, the two games I mentioned are taking place in Spain and Newcastle. However much noise the protesters make outside the Emirates I’m pretty sure the players won’t be distracted by it. 😉
Is there no U-18 player from Palace or Fulham who is worth just betting?
I’ll be there Rico, on Thursday and Sunday, you can depend on that…
According to Italian media, Donnarumma might finish up at Juve.
That means Juve will allow Szcesney to go.
How many would have him back?
He is homegrown remember that.
Protesting Kev?
Good win for the women 2-0
Another step nearer champions league next season.
No Rico he’ll be selling hot roasted chestnuts. 😉
Peanuts in their shells in my day. Ah those were the days!
No Rico, I’ll be there on my settee having a sandwich and watching the football…
I do like a sandwich… 😉
Rico sorry I meant Torreira as Emery did not think Torreira would suit the team or the style of play in the premier league.
It looks like we’ll be saying farewell to Danny Ceballos in the summer. He has said “it will be difficult to extend his loan spell from Real, and he prefers La Liga to the Premiership”.
It is expected that Real will recall Odegaard too. Arsenal see German midfielder Julian Brandt as his replacement.
Bellerin could be sold with Norwich fullback Max Aarons seen as his replacement.
Wavy :- ” The roasted peanuts ” guy that used to to do the North Bank first half and Clock end second , another memory of things past.
Szcesney , I would he was better than Almunia but in a similar situation to Guendouzi regarding attitude . He got the golden glove in the time that Arteta was with us as a player , in many ways I suppose it would depend on their personal relationship and whether Arteta rates him.
His media tweets suggest that he still enjoys his Arsenal connections

Not keeping Cabellos and Odegaard is a good thing perhaps. I like the latter but he’d be an expensive signing in a position we don’t necessarily need players in. Imo that is.
Right time for Bellerin to move I reckon, he needs a new challenge.
New post up now
