Morning all.
Kenny Dalglish has been writing for The Mirror about tomorrow’s game against Chelsea. His view is that no matter what the outcome is, Arsenal fans will still be grumpy and of course, remain very critical of Arsene Wenger.
He’s spent too much money on players.
He hasn’t spent enough money on players.
He shouldn’t be playing Aaron Ramsey.
He shouldn’t be playing Mesut Ozil.
He doesn’t win enough trophies.
Don’t think Wenger can ever be accused of spending too much money but does Dalglish have a point?
If by some miracle we were to come away from Stamford Bridge with a victory, would the majority of fans still be on our managers back and be moaning each and every day about him?
I’ll be dancing in the street if that happens..
Dalglish went onto say:
You know what? I look at Arsenal and Wenger and I really don’t see what the problem is. I don’t understand why he gets all this criticism. I don’t understand why one defeat is used as a reason to question his position.
I agree, one defeat should never be a reason on it’s own to slate Arsene Wenger but we are talking about Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, someone who Arsene Wenger is yet to beat and many of us believe that’s all down to the fact that our manager doesn’t have what it takes to our think the dwarf! In fact Arsene Wenger struggles to get his side to beat other clubs around or above us too and that’s what frustrates fans.
Of course there are other frustrations too like not signing a couple of players who we so desperately needed in the summer but regardless, surely we should have enough in the squad to get a result tomorrow, IF we don’t go gung ho from the off..
He goes on to talk about our 17 years of being in the Champions League:
That is a hell of an achievement – you only need to look at the struggles Manchester United are now having to realise how difficult it is to attain that level of consistency.
Now there is a bit more money available at last, he has spent more on players and there are signs that Arsenal are becoming contenders again.
Yes he’s spending money but he didn’t address our defensive needs both at the back and in midfield and that’s half the problem. You could drive a double decker bus through our midfield at times, what we need to be able to do is park that bus in certain matches but we can’t or we simply don’t because Arsene Wenger doesn’t like that style of football.
Last season, the club ended their trophy drought by winning the FA Cup, but it still didn’t get people off Wenger’s back.
Well, this week he celebrated 18 years at Arsenal and I think it is time to give him a little bit of acknowledgement.
I don’t know why people keep digging him out. Maybe it is jealousy.
Now that last comment in my opinion is a big dig at the dwarf as he’s spent most of his time in England singling Arsene Wenger out with snide comments and there’s been far too many for me to mention. Some have been childish, some simply ridiculous and others, darn right cruel!
Yes, I too think Mourinho is jealous because not many, if any he has managed, have backed him when things got tricky!
I look at Arsenal and I see a team making progress.
Win, lose or draw tomorrow, Wenger’s ability to encourage that progress won’t change.
Wow, that’s strong support for our manager and all from a Liverpudlian too. Not any old Liverpudlian, he was the manager of Liverpool in 1989!
Perhaps he has a point, well, to a degree, a small degree, a very small degree…..
That’s it for Saturday – have a good day all…..
Morning rico, all. Credit has a habit of running out!
Majorityof us have given a fair bit over the years.
Morning All,
No one can tell me what I should like about wenger,
we all know what we need………………………….don’t we
deep down most of us love wenger……………..don’t we
It’s the love affair we have with our team and manager,
you could say……………Just like the wife/Husband?
Morning Andrew, Fred and all again…
I’ve a family day today so catch up later….
Morning all,
Looking for miracles rico ? Me too.
Anyone looking for Arsene this weekend should check Mourinho’s back pocket.
Don’t think Arsene has ever beaten a Mourinho team has he………..
Morning rico, All…
I must admit I equally went over the top after that worst ever performance of our team under Wenger at Dortmund occasioned by that ever recalcitrant stubbornness to stick to his guns even on the face of glaring inadequacies.
But four games since after that sour display appear our team is not really as bad as that Dortmund display. The team has played quite well, even though results, especially against Spurs, did not deservedly come our way. But like Welbeck who missed begging chances before grabbing his hat trick, the most important is get to those scoring positions first, remain focused and they’d soon start going in. The first sign of a team’s improvement is playing well…the results will soon follow..
On the strength of what we’ve seen lately, I’d go with most of Daglish’s submissions. Sometimes, I’m ashamed of using one bad result to slam Wenger. But it’s an emotional game. It becomes terrible when I use that result to sum up his season.
I’m confident of a pleasant surprise tomorrow.
I think most of the fans are angry not only because they hate Wenger but seeing what he can do, get angry and losing patience on him underachieving. Why can’t he just fix what almost eveyone see?
Morning all. Rico, fred, Andy H, Tai, Micko etc
Dalglish wasn’t just the manager of possibly the greatest Liverpool side ever – He was the greatest Player of his era …………….. and according to Jimmy Tarbuck – the greatest player Liverpool have ever had. please note: he said that pre-Suarez
Dalglish can have his opinions but as he represents a club that considers itself to be the biggest club in the universe , no doubt he thinks that we should be content with Wenger’s eternal 4th place , as long as his mob finish above us.
Isn’t it great when you go out to the vehicle you parked up the night before, and find that some lowlife scumbag has broke into it…
Glass everywhere….
Hope the cnut gets a terminal desease…
Happy Days….
Lol @ Kev…..trust me I understand that feeling
It could be worse Kev – I had fckng ITV around at our house in 2005 after mine was shot at with a 9mm. They had a crack at the house as well
Good Afternoon Rico and All.
Nice post Rico.
KennyG has an opinion; so do we all. For 8M he (AW) better take some criticisms. It comes with the territory. Some of his decisions are very poor for a man earning such amount of money. Would Mourinho ever use Sonogo in leading the attack in a Champions League, a non proving Striker from a lower league from another country?
There is no question, Arsenal fans and Supporters love AW. Most of us have defended him many of times. But now we have run out of excuses. When he get things right we all sing his praise. When he get it wrong we should call it and take him to task. And one of the reasons he has been able to get away so many times, Arsenal fans/supporters are loyal. Some don’t forget the good old days. AW is a manager in charge of a club with reputation and prestige. But, with this kind of stubbornness, how long would you think he would last in club like Barc?
SYG, Sukky, it’s like the Wild West in SE London… 😉
Sorry to hear about your local difficulty. It hurts, doesn’t it? I had my car window smashed and the stereo removed – very professionally! Apart from the mess, glass, the police involvement who were disinterested, but good enough to give me a crime number and finally a very cold and wet drive home, what really upset me was that I felt I had been violated and that my pride and joy had sat, parked impassive and not fought back! What was the alarm doing? Where were the plods? Where were the responsible members of society and what were they doing? Not a Samaritan amongst them!
Still it was only a car and all the damage was repaired and radio etc replaced at no great inconvenience to me. But I never quite felt the same about the car and my subsequent chariots have never really felt secure, even those that have auto self locks etc etc.
it’s all so unnecessary!
A bit like tomorrow, perhaps? If the chavs win I shall definitely feel violated…..again! Wenger has the power to make me feel good! Will he take the opportunity or leave me and an awful lot of others feeling sour and bitter?
Happy days.
Sorry to hear your shit news Kev! I know what I’d do to the fuckers…..they certainly wouldn’t want or be able to ever steal again!
Being reported that Khedira is coming in January….not so sure about him now! I suppose when fit he’s an upgrade on Flamini & Arteta.
When fit being the operative phrase , Seems like he may be coming and his mate Podolski going the other way..
Kev , life’s a bastard sometimes , one reason that I left London was because I caught a kid breaking into my car it was his 5th of the night. He was arrested and sent to a young offenders establishment for 3 months . 3 months and a week later I inherited 4 bricks through my downstairs windows . The police said that it was a coincidence and that they could see no connection. We moved out and apart from my visits to Highbury I have not been nor wish to go back.
Kev. That is bad news. One of the problems with living in London is the sheer amount of shitheads we are surrounded with.
Afternoon folks..
Kev, sorry to hear that…..
I just got home and someone’s dog has had a dump right outside our house and the irresponsible owner has not picked it up!!
Not as bad as having the car broken into by a long way but bloody annoying!
Brudder there’s a fair amount of shitheads in the sticks too.
The do-gooders/tree huggers wouldn’t like my methods to stop crime….
There sure is Lee, plenty where I live!
Wavy and Potter, sorry to hear those stories.
Yep Wavy I have my stereo nicked as well, the night Arsenal scored four in the European Cup, Alan Smith got four if I recall.
Certainly soured the evening.
Potter that was terrible, effin little shitbags, hope they did, in fact I’m sure they did, do plenty more ‘time’.
And well deserved.
Although they’ll probably blame everyone else.
Nope, they never accept responsibility!
Lee, Rico, Adam, thanks…
London is a great City, with everything you need, but a lot of what you don’t…
Unfortunately we share this City with a disproportionate amount of scumbags…
And as both Lee and Rico have alluded to, the Countryside has it’s fair share of life’s effluent…
Happy Days 😉
Kev, sadly you get that going on everywhere, folk of today don’t give a toss about other peoples property or belongings…
Sure do Boss…
The night I had my car radio nicked, Arsenal actually won 6-0 (or was it 6-1?) anyway Austria Mephis was their name and Smudge got four goals. 91-92 season.
There’s a lot of headlines suggesting we have agreed personal terms with Sami Khedira…
Good old Smudger Kev….
Perhaps this time is a good omen… 😉 🙁
Rico, I was really really keen on Khadira during the summer, technically he is a fantastic player and would link up brilliantly with Ozil, when fit…
And ‘when fit’ seems to be the elephant in the room!
Not least his wage demands…
I smell the smell of an agent at work, behind a lot of these rumours…
Good omen Rico?
What you mean like dogs mess on your front… 😆 😉
That’s it, Welbeck to get 4 goals at the Bridge tomorrow and we win 6-0…
No chance 😀
Me too re Sami Kev, and had we got him in the summer, Ramsey’s injury wouldn’t hurt us so much…
I get what you are saying re the agent being hard at work, but it’s got AW all over it really, why pay in the summer when a much much cheaper deal can be done in Jan…
Same with Delp (I think) he too is free in the summer, so don’t be surprised to see a cheap Jan deal done… 😉
Wouldn’t it be fantastic to get a win tomorrow, would make the international break a lot better…
I’d take a draw right now… 😉
I’m off guys, catch up tomorrow..
Night Kev and all….
Kev, sorry to hear about your trouble mate, unfortunately it’s an all to familiar story. Hopefully tomorrow will put a smile on your face and mine….
Fcuk me, its like crime watch UK on here today, don’t have night-mares, sleep well !
Cheers BT.
Night mate and night Rico…
‘Ere Mick, what’s that noise in your garden…?
Sleep well…
It’s a bit wet in Japan… Go Lewis….
Morning all…
COYRRG’S!!
Brian McDermott is set to join Arsenal’s scouting team…
I just read that Rico…. seems a nice bloke.
Not got a good feeling about our game today….. COYRRG!
Morning btw
Egg shaped ball for me now with my 10yr old son…….love to put one over on hi ho this arvo!!!
Morning Lee, Reading fans loved him and didn’t want him sacked…
I have a good feeling about today, IF Wenger can find a bus to park..
Enjoy the rugby…
Morning Rico, yeah that’s an interesting one re: McDermott, he signed a three year deal.
Blimey, I remember watching him and Paul Vaessen in our Youth team.
Things are moving in our Academy. Setting up an improved scouting network in the UK is a must…
Morning Lee, yeah mate, to me it would be a mega-massive result for the Arse to get a draw today…
A win? Not a hope in Hell….
COYFRRG
Rico, I was very impressed and quite suprised at how well Delph played in that recent England game, he seemed just what we lack, a tough-tackling def/mid, with pace and energy to burn.
Signing Atrteta on for another year though, makes me wonder if Wenger is gonna make-do for another year?
Khadira, pah, I’ll believe it when it happens.
Sick of the bullshit.
He’ll probably end up at Chelski.
Morning Kev, you and Fred/Rick said a few weeks ago that the scouting needs changing, looks like things are moving..
Good, about time too…
Have seen much of Delph Kev, he’s a bit under tall isn’t he? 😉
But if he’s a tough tackling hard bastard then fingers crossed we get him. Arteta, well I don’t get that at all, let him go, and Flamini and then sign two proper midfielders…
New post up now….
Morning all, it’s a fresh one here. let’s hope for some fresh ideas from AW . Are you serious about Delph?
“King” Kenny’s comments are probably a clue as to
why he is no longer a manager.
