Arsenal's most likely 'Turnovers'…..

It is very clear we had some shortcomings and in this close season we are going to see some turnover of players. Some new signings will be coming in and some of our existing squad will be going out. As Arsène has said, it will be a busy close season for the Club.

Those are the words spoken by Ivan Gazidis on Monday night..

Busy close season and turnovers all led me to think of this:

Bet Arshavin likes these ............... 🙂

Surely Rob The Chef doesn’t have these on his menu?

Ok, that was just a bit of fun while we all await with bated breath to find out who will be coming and going.

The lack of signings is getting everyone a bit twitchy at the moment but to be honest, did we really expect Arsene Wenger to act in any other way? He hasn’t in previous transfers windows so why did we expect any change, especially after we learned that as soon as the season finished, Wenger was away on his holidays.

Anyway, Arsene Wenger has promised us signings, Ivan Gazidis has now reiterated that and he’s also confirmed that a few will leave…

We know both Denilson and Nik have suggested their time at Arsenal is over and they hope to find new pastures but none of us know whether or not another club will want to buy them, or even make the right offer for them so nothing is concrete just yet.

But how else could Gazidis be referring to when he suggests players will leave?

I’ll leave you to answer that in the comments section….

I think I am right in saying that the ‘real’ transfer window doesn’t open until July 1st and I think that is when Arsenal Football Club will set their wheels in motion, both with the in’s and the outs and that date is not far away now.

I’d hoped we would have bought a player or two from the Premier League by now, especially as our new season starts early with the Champions League Qualifiers,  but the longer time goes on I believe more that our signings will be coming from another league overseas.

One thing I do know though and that is I expect little, then maybe I will be surprised…

The club may talk the talk, but when it comes to walking the walk, they go missing!

Just like the team they ‘own’……..

Which takes me nicely back to ‘Turnovers’……. 🙂

Have a good day all……

Hi Rico. I feel we are stuck in a kind of Groundhog Season situation and I am hoping that one morning soon Sonny and Cher won’t be on the radio and Wenger will finally begin to address the problems that this team has had for far too long. At the back of my mind I really wonder whether he has it in him though. Still, I wait to be surprised.

  2. rico says:

    Hi Adam

That is all we can hope for, surely Wenger and Gazidis know they will look very very silly if they don’t back up what they have said about signings..

In the meantime its read the rumour and hope the better ones come true 🙂

    However…..

  3. Will says:

I really think this is gong to be a great window, I just wish we had done a Man Utd and bought some English.

  4. rico says:

    Hi Will, Steve

I love them too, jam and cream are my fav’s but haven’t one in years 🙁

Will, I reckon Gervinho could be our first in, if we are to believe that talks commence today…

  5. Joaquim moreira says:

    Good Morning
In the start of July will be a little bit late.
I think the work begins in the last week of June. It wil be in that time

  6. rico says:

    Gervinho – sorry Will

I don’t know whether he is good enough, he gets good reviews, thats all i can go by as i haven’t seen him play..

A few sides want him though, Arry, Dalglish, so maybe he will be….

  7. Philbet says:

I think on reflection there has been very little action anywhere so far, Chelsea,City and Spurs have not made a move and the only confirmed signing s, have been under 21’s on International duty + players moving divisions.
Have Patience , come July you will see signings allright.

  8. rico says:

    Will,

Go check Henry’s stats before he joined us, they were rubbish ….

    Lee, I know, he’s crazy man 🙂

  9. rico says:

    Hi Philbet

The Chavs won’t sign anyone until they appoint a new manager, Arry I think needs to sell a few before he can buy..

Citeh, well they will just spend big on top foreign players

  10. Will says:

I would rather we keep both and get some top players to be honest. Selling Fabregas will just further the proof we are a feeder club to teh top teams in Europe.

  11. rico says:

I don’t see it as that with Cesc Will, i think he has given us his best years, this move is equally about going home as it it playing for Barca….

He would go with my blessing….

  12. Will says:

Not sure he has given us his best years, he is 24, he is just coming into his best years but the point is, if we sell to Barca, we just further the fact we are a second tier European club.

  13. rico says:

The best he can give us Will, i think he has been overplayed, risked when unfit and his bones/muscles are shot.

He doesn’t want to be in England anymore and if he is forced to stay again, his performances will drop….

I personnaly believe that he will miss many games through injury next season, who ever he plays for….

  14. rico says:

    Four weeks today…

Our first friendly takes place against a Malaysia XI

When do the squad come back for pre-season training, is it july 1st??

  15. rico says:

Well, it can’t be long befiore they are back, not if we are off to Asia in just under a month….

And yes, we need the signings in by then to gel….

Mind you, if Wenger nabs one on deadline day and its Benzema or Hazard, i won’t be complaining 😉

  16. rico says:

The only way that will stop is by winning, if we can start dominating, players will want to sign for us, not leave us…

The club has let us slip too far back, we should have bought players beofre this window….

  17. Will says:

I agree Rico, we are now just above Tottenham in players eyes. When we had Bergkamp, Campbell, Vieira, Henry, Pires et al is when players were begging to come to us, now we have to beg them.

  18. rico says:

    Cesc has been speaking…

He is happy, happy at Arsenal and no decision has been made on his future, he says that any decision will be down to Wenger as he is the boss.

He is frsutrated at not winning things and if he wasn’t he would lack ambition – Right now he is thinking only of his holiday and the arsenal fans should NOT listen to anything being reported in the press….

  19. rico says:

But they were all before big money Will – now most players will follow a huge wage packet before club regardless of what the club has won,

Chelsea showed that when Roman took over
Citeh when they were taken over…

And no matter what is in Manures history, greedy guts Ronaldo still wanted to go to Madrid for more wages….

If we can start winning again and the board sort everything out there, players will soon want to join us again, well, the players who want to play for Arsenal, rather than just earn mega bucks….

  20. rico says:

Don’t read what is written by idiots in the red tops, and what will be will be when Wenger makes a decision…

  21. cin says:

no surprise for this summer also. Old same story will continue.

Arsenal is not going to make big singing. Max we can expect two 10M rated players.

  22. rico says:

    Will,

YouTube can make plays look how you want them to look, I’m going to wait and see if we sign him first 😉

  23. rico says:

The last 5/6 were the most important windows, but he mucked them up, this window imho is about saving his job….

  24. Will says:

Can’t disagree with you there Rico. You are riight, mess this one and I think we will see hm leave.

  25. rico says:

Maybe that is what Gazidis was hinting at when he said about Wenger being accountable to the fans…

That is making me have a little more belief about transfers now 😉

  26. Joaquim moreira says:

    Fabregas’s words:
The Spaniard Cesc Fabregas dismisses a controversial exit from Arsenal, but admits to leave a club where the security has to fight for titles.
“Barcelona are the best team in the world and to change me there, had the assurance that he could win titles, ” said the Spanish international, being displeased with the fast of Arsenal: “Any player that says no frustrated by not winning titles mind. I’m ambitious. ”
Speaking at an event in Madrid, Fabregas said, however, that will not leave the evil of Arsenal: “I have not talked with coach [Arsene Wenger]. It is he who makes the decisions and do not know if I want to sell. I have values and I will not say anything that might destroy what I have at this club over the past eight years. ”
Fabregas has not said in so many words you want to move to Barcelona, as happened last summer, and also did not rule out a possible move to Real Madrid, who has followed the player: “I’m not talking about a team in concrete . But you can never say no, because no one knows what will happen in the future. “

  27. Joaquim moreira says:

    from eurosport.com:
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas says he is happy at the club and no decision has been made about a possible move to Barcelona.
“I am an Arsenal player. I have been very happy for eight years and I am very happy,” Fabregas said at a promotional event, when asked about the prospect of a return to Barcelona.
“I am not thinking about football right now, just about my holidays,” the 24-year-old Spain midfielder said, adding that questions about his future should be directed to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, to whom he had not spoken for six weeks.
“There have been no decisions. The truth is that it doesn’t always depend on the player and at the moment I don’t know anything,” he added.
“I am very happy where I am. Anything else would be speculation that is untrue. You can never say never in this life as so many things happen that you can never predict.”
Spanish media have reported that European champions Barca would have to pay around 40 million euros (£35.2 million) to secure Fabregas’s services for next season.
The player, who moved from Barcelona to London in 2003 at the age of 16, is seen as a natural replacement for playmaker Xavi, who turned 31 in January.
Fabregas admitted he was frustrated at Arsenal’s repeated failure to win a trophy but said he believed the club had the resources to end their barren run.
“A player who is not frustrated at not winning titles is either lying to himself or lacks ambition,” he said.
“There is a good team and a good manager and one of the most faithful fan bases in Europe. With those I believe we can make progress and one day win an important trophy.”
Any decision on his future would be taken by Wenger, Fabregas added.
“He is the boss, the one who makes the decisions. You should ask him. I was injured at the end of the season and I haven’t seen him for about six weeks.”

  28. Steve Palmer says:

At the Question and Answer the other night, i don’t remember any questions on how the season ticket renewals are doing, But with the talk being that The Arsenal will be busy in the summer, makes me think not everybody is racing to renew. I honestly believe that nearly all the season tickets will get sold, But they know they won’t get away with shit buys this year. The impression i get is that most of the top people have mentioned our problem in defence and i would be very surprise if this is not sorted out already announcement to come as soon as Gulliver returns from his travels

  29. Lee says:

Will, it’s all speculative crap, but like you said many posts ago, you have a “good feeling” about this window, and I can’t disagree….

  30. Steve Palmer says:

I don’t know if he is after a winger but if he has the defence sorted it could be anyone, if there is one good point with Wenger Will is he has a good eye i expect at least one from there, he is a bit hands on, so i expect a youngster and Wenger probably will spend more time convincing his family, he knows who he is going after. Maybe taking in a few games and watch how they play and incorperate that with our play for new adeas

  31. oliver says:

afternoon rico…a whole lotta nothing. cesc neither invites or unequivocally rules out transfer to barcelona…speculation linking players a/b/c to depart, and x/y/z to arrive…

we’ve been down this particular road before, haven’t we??

  32. rico says:

    Afternoon oliver

Cesc has learned the AFC way, say something but at the end of it, it actually means very little 😉

  33. rico says:

I am having a bad day, a few days ago our Soft Water machine broke after contaminating the water – today, after walking the dog I came home to a washine machine which decided to flood the utility room….

And Wenger thinks his life as Arsenal Manager is tough 😉

  34. oliver says:

we just replaced our washer four weeks ago…the previous one served us well for ten years, with very few problems until the end…

  35. arsenal fan says:

just heard dont know if its true,
the manu chief david gill flow down to have talks with alexis sanchez for a 30 million deal
wish gazidis would do some sort of a thing to sign a top quality player…….

  36. oliver says:

you can find a dozen of those stories about a dozen different club chief executives “flying in for crunch talks” with certain player “a” on any given day…i ignore most of them. we have always done our business – when we have done business – quietly, and i expect that will not change…

  37. rico says:

Send in in then Will 🙂

AF, i read that one this morning too – they can still only play eleven… 🙂

  38. rico says:

    Another pre-season match confirmed…

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce a pre-season friendly against Portuguese side Benfica, to be played in Lisbon on Saturday, August 6 – kick off time TBC.

  39. rico says:

Good Will, that is what we should be doing, not playing crap in Austria… no offence meant, test the side from the off…

And, he will still have time in the transfer window….

  40. Will says:

I agree, It annoys me when he does that and says going on tours kills the team, where have the last 7 or 8 champions pre-seasoned?

  41. Joaquim moreira says:

rico: I annouce that match two weeks ago ! 🙂
    Is Eusebio cup.
Everybody knows who was Eusebio, right ?
I’m faster then Arsenal website …

  42. Merlin96 says:

He is one smart cookie as he realised that the only way he can nailed down a regular place – and even as a starter ahead of Xavi – in Spanish Euro2012 squad is to play regular 1st team football at Arsenal.

And not warming the bench as 2nd fiddle to Xavi…and taking 6 to 9 months to integrate himself into BArca squad.

Cesc may very well had learned the lesson of Reyes leaving Arsenal for Real, warning the bench and promptly lost hsi place in the Spanish national squad.

Cesc can afford to wait for Euro2012, play one more season at Arsenal to burnish his image after Barca fans dropped him from his favorite list due to hsi abysmal performance at Nou Camp 2L CL Cup.

And why I am confident that he will stay on for one more season to be in the SPanish Euro2012 and WC2014 squad.

Csec is not thick like Reyes and knew that time is on his side as Xavi si ageing and running down his contract – refusing to sign any extension – will force Arsenal to sell him in summer 2012 else his valuation will drop drastically in summer 2013 with only 2 years of his contract remaining.

2011/12 season is really Wenger’s “Last Chance Saloon” to win the title or CL CUp as an incentive to convince Cesc that Arsenal is the place for him, and not Barca.
