Arsenal provide tomorrow’s chip paper headlines again…..

Morning all.

Protests before and after the match, a few posters raised on 12 & 78 minutes calling for the manager to leave, some wanted Kroenke out too. Then there was the snub between Alexis and Arsene Wenger when the Chilean was substituted which I thought was unnecessary, as was ignoring the fans. Mesut Ozil showed his sulky side too when he decided to walk away from the ref, who wanted a word in his ear. All stuff which will fill the back pages this morning. All stuff which shows things aren’t rosy at the club.

Watching the match on television, it was hard to tell what ratio of fans were protesting but through the Sky Sports cameras, who were no doubt trying very hard to capture every little poster held high, the number didn’t seem that big. In fact amongst those calling for change, there remained a lot of support for the Arsenal manager. As the protesters stood, so did Arsene as if to say, ‘bring it on’.

Sad times really…

The football on show was pretty awful and at times, dreadful, yet so typical of this season and seasons gone by. Plenty of possession, no cutting edge and but for Petr Cech and Norwich leaving their shooting boots at home, we could very well have lost that match but that’s football, and as we all know, there’s been plenty of matches we’d have won at a canter if only we could score more…

The team selection was odd imo. A dreadfully low in confidence and out of form Giroud was preferred to Danny Welbeck and a young Alexi Iwobi was asked to play yet again. Leaving Coquelin on the bench just so Ramsey can start just didn’t and doesn’t make sense to me.

Welbeck came off of the bench to replace Alexis and within minutes, the move paid off. Giroud with the knock down and the Englishman fired home the only goal of the game. Not only that, his work rate was really impressive, so much so he picked up the man of the match award although Petr Cech must have been a very close contender. Elneny had a good game too and despite being told not to shoot, he did and only a fine save from Ruddy prevented him from scoring.

Anyway, three points which leaves us just two behind Tottenham who travel across London to face Chelsea tomorrow night. I think the West London club dislike our neighbours nearly as much as we do so they’ll be out to beat them. Fabregas will that’s for sure so fingers crossed they do and we overtake them.

Final word from Danny Welbeck about the protest:

I think it is one of this things as a player where you have to focus on the match and not too much on the surroundings. Obviously the fans are so important to football clubs, and it is something you have to respect.

Everyone has an opinion but we just have to do our stuff on the pitch.

Thankfully he did…..

I couldn`t afford to go to the game, so bearing in mind my main target of hate is Kroenke, I protested in my local ASDA with “Kroenke Out !” signs @ 12 mins !……….I would have protested @ 78 mins but was banned from re-entering Walmart light !

Strange day yesterday , the actual support for the protest was larger than the posters displayed but as with most things in the Arsenal crowd too many were too shy to show their support. Joe I did not and have not seen that video and if I did know what was on it I would not watch it anyway. It’s truly sad when a marriage breaks up and the acrimony being displayed is making this situation very similar. All sides are blaming each other and everyone trying to bend reality to suit their argument. As you read your way across the various sites there are different calculations on the numbers which probably are all totally inaccurate. It will just have to be put behind us, the club although they will try to belittle things will have the message that not everything is rosy however it is now down to them to ignore things or react. I fear that if they choose to ignore that the protest will increase and those that sat on their hands yesterday will become more vociferous.

Good Afternoon to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Rico – Unfortunately, an accurate summary of the game.

The most interesting part of the game for me was listening to Lee Dixon, colour commentator on the feed I was watching. The gist of his analysis was that the team lacked much in the way of team spirit or on-field leadership. Basically his old captain Tony Adams would have lost his rag at most of the team yesterday and probably would have kicked ass, those of his team mates, figuratively and literally.

The season, for Arsenal anyway, seems to sliding into one big disappointing BORE (yawn!!!). Something needs to change, starting with the team chemistry. Time to bring back a sports psychologist like they did a few years ago.

I just wish I knew what was at the root of the problem(s); Wenger, the BOD, Silent Stan, coaching staff (Steve Bould looked frustrated), team members, others or all of the above.

It’s good to see Kev is back to his old allezkev self though.

Now if Sotton and especially Chelski can do us favours and win their games, it might not be such a bad season.

Lord help us if our noisy neighbours from Shite Heart Lane manage to finish above us. It might be the first time in over fifty years, but they’ll be crowing like the proverbial cock on top of the dung hill if they manage it.

Much as I’ll hate myself afterwards, I’ll be cheering for Chelski tomorrow. Oh the shame of it!

Rico – I think it will be good for the league if Leicester win it. I just wonder how many of this season’s squad will still be with them come August?

One things for sure Chelski, Abu Dhabi Citeh, ManUre and the Dippers will be spending shed loads of money this summer to rebuild their teams. Here’s hoping that Silent Stan will open up his wallet, let the moths out and give our manager some transfer funds. One rumour has it that he is willing to spend 150 million quid. I hope that is true, but we have heard similar rumours in too too many previous years, with little or no result.

It could be a long exasperating summer. Stan will have to make sure he a good supply of tranquilizers on hand.

Andrew like I said yesterday next season is going to be worse for that nutter. If he sticks around. Poch ll only get better. That spuds team ll have learned a thing or two this season. Klopp ll finally get his players and start the season on fire. Manure ll bring in maureen and with 500 million to spend that’s a mouth watering proposition. Conte ll raid juve for pogba and maybe dybala. Pep ll bring out the best in his players and would demand more players yet we ll be losing Sanchez and ozil. Hahahahahahaha are we going to get it. Wenger in 😀

Hi Rico and the House.

It’s always nice to win, but this is a Norwich team that have been pretty much spanked for most of the season. Sunderland smashed them 3-0 at Carrow Road the other week.
Arsenal espouse ordinariness.
Whilst top four every year of Wenger’s tenure is remarkable, it has never felt as flat and boring as right now. There are absolutely no sparks of excitement emanating from the club or fan-base, we are at an impasse, and nobody wants to blink first for fear of losing credibility.
A football club has a duty to entertain and be the very best they can be for their supporters.
Our duty is to fully and passionately support the club in that cause, not to demand trophies, but at least dare to dream, and trust that everything within the club’s power is being utilised to achieve this and match the fan’s ambitions.
For the first time in nearly fifty years of my support, Arsenal are boring and becoming less and less relevant to me under this current regime. The club are in a coma and in desperate need of an injection if only to make fans believe again.
A sorry sorry state of affairs that no-one seems willing to fix.

Hi Le Coq, hope you’re well.

Rico – Considering how many of their top players the Saints have lost to other BPL teams this last few seasons it is great to see them beating the mega petrodollar team. Though cheering for Chelski tomorrow will be much more difficult and morally repugnant, but is unfortunately necessary.
