Morning all.
Protests before and after the match, a few posters raised on 12 & 78 minutes calling for the manager to leave, some wanted Kroenke out too. Then there was the snub between Alexis and Arsene Wenger when the Chilean was substituted which I thought was unnecessary, as was ignoring the fans. Mesut Ozil showed his sulky side too when he decided to walk away from the ref, who wanted a word in his ear. All stuff which will fill the back pages this morning. All stuff which shows things aren’t rosy at the club.
Watching the match on television, it was hard to tell what ratio of fans were protesting but through the Sky Sports cameras, who were no doubt trying very hard to capture every little poster held high, the number didn’t seem that big. In fact amongst those calling for change, there remained a lot of support for the Arsenal manager. As the protesters stood, so did Arsene as if to say, ‘bring it on’.
Sad times really…
The football on show was pretty awful and at times, dreadful, yet so typical of this season and seasons gone by. Plenty of possession, no cutting edge and but for Petr Cech and Norwich leaving their shooting boots at home, we could very well have lost that match but that’s football, and as we all know, there’s been plenty of matches we’d have won at a canter if only we could score more…
The team selection was odd imo. A dreadfully low in confidence and out of form Giroud was preferred to Danny Welbeck and a young Alexi Iwobi was asked to play yet again. Leaving Coquelin on the bench just so Ramsey can start just didn’t and doesn’t make sense to me.
Welbeck came off of the bench to replace Alexis and within minutes, the move paid off. Giroud with the knock down and the Englishman fired home the only goal of the game. Not only that, his work rate was really impressive, so much so he picked up the man of the match award although Petr Cech must have been a very close contender. Elneny had a good game too and despite being told not to shoot, he did and only a fine save from Ruddy prevented him from scoring.
Anyway, three points which leaves us just two behind Tottenham who travel across London to face Chelsea tomorrow night. I think the West London club dislike our neighbours nearly as much as we do so they’ll be out to beat them. Fabregas will that’s for sure so fingers crossed they do and we overtake them.
Final word from Danny Welbeck about the protest:
I think it is one of this things as a player where you have to focus on the match and not too much on the surroundings. Obviously the fans are so important to football clubs, and it is something you have to respect.
Everyone has an opinion but we just have to do our stuff on the pitch.
Thankfully he did…..
Great post Rico…
Off out all day, so have a good ‘un…
Thanks Kev, have a lovely day….
Catch up later, things to before Leicester hopefully spank Utd….
Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.
We won. that is good
Rico wrote a spot on match report. That is is even better.
I couldn`t afford to go to the game, so bearing in mind my main target of hate is Kroenke, I protested in my local ASDA with “Kroenke Out !” signs @ 12 mins !……….I would have protested @ 78 mins but was banned from re-entering Walmart light !
Strange day yesterday , the actual support for the protest was larger than the posters displayed but as with most things in the Arsenal crowd too many were too shy to show their support. Joe I did not and have not seen that video and if I did know what was on it I would not watch it anyway. It’s truly sad when a marriage breaks up and the acrimony being displayed is making this situation very similar. All sides are blaming each other and everyone trying to bend reality to suit their argument. As you read your way across the various sites there are different calculations on the numbers which probably are all totally inaccurate. It will just have to be put behind us, the club although they will try to belittle things will have the message that not everything is rosy however it is now down to them to ignore things or react. I fear that if they choose to ignore that the protest will increase and those that sat on their hands yesterday will become more vociferous.
Good Afternoon to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.
Rico – Unfortunately, an accurate summary of the game.
The most interesting part of the game for me was listening to Lee Dixon, colour commentator on the feed I was watching. The gist of his analysis was that the team lacked much in the way of team spirit or on-field leadership. Basically his old captain Tony Adams would have lost his rag at most of the team yesterday and probably would have kicked ass, those of his team mates, figuratively and literally.
The season, for Arsenal anyway, seems to sliding into one big disappointing BORE (yawn!!!). Something needs to change, starting with the team chemistry. Time to bring back a sports psychologist like they did a few years ago.
I just wish I knew what was at the root of the problem(s); Wenger, the BOD, Silent Stan, coaching staff (Steve Bould looked frustrated), team members, others or all of the above.
It’s good to see Kev is back to his old allezkev self though.
It’s very very quiet in the House today. I’ll just tip toe out so as not to wake anyone.
Afternoon Cg and all. Sorry to have missed you Cg….
1-1 at the old toilet….
Nice to see the dippers take a thumping… Lol
Howdy rico
Hi Goonie…
Surprised Oliver didn’t give Utd a penalty.
Leicester players are dead on their feet, got to admire them really….
If only our lot could give as much….
1 – 1 at full time!
Did you watch it Cg?
If the jammy chavs can hold the scums to atleast a draw tomorrow leceister are champions. Ranieri for prime minister 😀 am so chuffed for him. Come on leceister.
Now if Sotton and especially Chelski can do us favours and win their games, it might not be such a bad season.
Lord help us if our noisy neighbours from Shite Heart Lane manage to finish above us. It might be the first time in over fifty years, but they’ll be crowing like the proverbial cock on top of the dung hill if they manage it.
Much as I’ll hate myself afterwards, I’ll be cheering for Chelski tomorrow. Oh the shame of it!
CG I can live with that what I can’t stomach is those cnuts winning the league. I ll literally have to move to Uranus 😀
I reckon Chelsea will win tomorrow….
Definitely cheering Southampton this afternoon Cg…..
How did Fellani and Rooney stay on the pitch?
Lol Rico cheering the chavs wow…sign of the end. Run for cover everyone. The British are coming 😀
Rico – No I didn’t watch the ManUre vs. Foxes game. Yesterday’s game was enough for one weekend. I might catch some of the Sotton game though, as that has more at stake for us.
Funny how Ranieri could coach a league 2 defender in Wes Morgan to the championship while arsene couldn’t win squat with mertesacker kozzer vermaline Gabriel gallas et al. Says much don’t it?
See Stan, you didn’t read my comment again. I said I reckon Chelsea will win but will be cheering Southampton… Get it right old chap… 😉
Lol Rico it was actually CG that said he ll be cheering the chavs. My bad. I ll go bury my head in the sand now. Lol
Cig, I hoped to see Leicester win it at OT but at least they nabbed two points from Utd which keeps them away from us….
What’s this, Goonster our blonde Adonis is volunteering for the the first manned probe to Uranus? Wonders never cease!
Stan – How is life in the Excited States of America treating you these days?
A lot of what Morgan has is from the inside though imo, he’s strong and puts his head where many, certainly our three central defenders, wouldn’t dare….
So much more enjoyable watching today’s game rather than our plodding performance yesterday.
Lol Rico and finishing 4th 😀 gee how about we play Europa for a change??? Who knows we might just win it. We ll be slaughtered next season. I don’t see sanctuary or ozil sticking around after this crappy season. Knowing the manager he won’t replace them just promote from within or go get us another round of sanogoesque “qualidee” players.
Lol CG blonde adonis?? Nah I gave that up a while ago. After cassie’s death. I hung up my condoms 😀 no more “adoning” for me. Lol Adam on the other hand is a stud tight fancy duds 😀
If Sanchez leaves, I expect AW will heap pressure on Iwobi by making him replacement
Rico – I think it will be good for the league if Leicester win it. I just wonder how many of this season’s squad will still be with them come August?
One things for sure Chelski, Abu Dhabi Citeh, ManUre and the Dippers will be spending shed loads of money this summer to rebuild their teams. Here’s hoping that Silent Stan will open up his wallet, let the moths out and give our manager some transfer funds. One rumour has it that he is willing to spend 150 million quid. I hope that is true, but we have heard similar rumours in too too many previous years, with little or no result.
It could be a long exasperating summer. Stan will have to make sure he a good supply of tranquilizers on hand.
Andrew like I said yesterday next season is going to be worse for that nutter. If he sticks around. Poch ll only get better. That spuds team ll have learned a thing or two this season. Klopp ll finally get his players and start the season on fire. Manure ll bring in maureen and with 500 million to spend that’s a mouth watering proposition. Conte ll raid juve for pogba and maybe dybala. Pep ll bring out the best in his players and would demand more players yet we ll be losing Sanchez and ozil. Hahahahahahaha are we going to get it. Wenger in 😀
Stan – I see you’re starting the gloom and doom early. Take some deep cleansing breathes and chill out, but be careful not to overdo it and hyper-ventilate. As I said earlier, it COULD to be a long painful transfer window for us; Arsene’s version of a death by a thousand cuts.
Agree Andrew..
Don’t want Europa, not one bit Goonie…
Stan – You’re still young and taking a short break. You still have plenty of time for more ‘Adoning’.
Cg, could be a few exits I guess, and just hope AW replaces them properly for once. I don’t think it’s Stan who needs to open his wallet, not after Wengers words a couple of days ago, it’s Wenger who needs to spend.
And find a way of doing something different. That’s the tricky part…
CG am a realist mate and trust me with wenger in charge next season. We ll get a thonking on a weekly basis. You heard it here first. We couldn’t even muster a shot on target against a lowly relegation bound Norwich and you expect us to pit our might against conte pep maureen poch and klopp???? Hehehehehe very funny CG very funny.
No Europa League, that’s Europe’s version of the League Cup. It doesn’t earn you much, if any, respect and is a distraction from the competitions that count.
Plus we’d always play after other clubs every weekend… No fun.
It’s a trophy CG. Sheesh you re worse than wenger and the board 😀 money money money.
Plus it’s a trophy wenger have never won. It’s a start CG.
More games rico 😀 isn’t that what we ve always clamored for?
Stan – I’m whistling that Monty Python tune from The Life of Brian (?) – ‘Take a Look on the Bright Side’. That and and a good supply of cold beer and medium rare steaks (apologies to Rico) should see me through the summer and we’ll see about next season when it comes.
More games?? Who said that?
come on the saints
afternoon rico and the house
1-0 Saints
Stan – “It’s a trophy CG. Sheesh you re worse than wenger….”. Eeeeowwww!, that is a low blow. I thought the U.S. Constitution had an article banning cruel and unusual punishment.
Hi Mg.
2-0 southapton
Looking at the possession stat and the scoreline, it seems Citeh may have taken a page out of the Arsenal playbook. Here’s to ‘When the Saints Come Marching In’!
Lol don’t you just hate koeman. What a shit head.
I am just enjoying a nice, fruity glass of Spanish red and watching Southampton beating Man City
CG 😀
Let’s hope Saints can keep going….
Goonie, do you always have to insult people?
Hiya kev
Errr rico??? When did I insult anyone maam??
Stan, how’s it going hombre?
Fabulous kev fabulous. The jammy spuds ain’t winning the league. Life is good 😀 how about you kev?? Still swindling unsuspecting folks?? 😀
5-07 Goonie
Geez Luis rico it’s koeman for Petes sake. That guy caused me tons of heart breaks as a kid. I hate his guts and can’t stand his twatish face. You re English hence you won’t understand 😀
A lot of English gooners can’t stand Alan Hansen and few other scouse bastards right??? Same as me 😀
Oh dear….. I give up..
Not to sure why everyone is going on about how many posters are flying around
Just look at the empty seat again fans are voting
Just look
Rico 😀
2.1 shitty
I bet it’s worse against Villa Fred..
More empty seats I mean…
Rico who ll want to go see a game against a relegated side and a team who just secured tip 4?? Not me. I actually think that villa game ll be the least attended game ever at the Emirates.
Them seats ain’t cheap to give up for free Rico
Top*
Or they’ll all turn up and make their voices heard Goonie…
I know Fred, says a lot eh..
Hi Rico and the House.
It’s always nice to win, but this is a Norwich team that have been pretty much spanked for most of the season. Sunderland smashed them 3-0 at Carrow Road the other week.
Arsenal espouse ordinariness.
Whilst top four every year of Wenger’s tenure is remarkable, it has never felt as flat and boring as right now. There are absolutely no sparks of excitement emanating from the club or fan-base, we are at an impasse, and nobody wants to blink first for fear of losing credibility.
A football club has a duty to entertain and be the very best they can be for their supporters.
Our duty is to fully and passionately support the club in that cause, not to demand trophies, but at least dare to dream, and trust that everything within the club’s power is being utilised to achieve this and match the fan’s ambitions.
For the first time in nearly fifty years of my support, Arsenal are boring and becoming less and less relevant to me under this current regime. The club are in a coma and in desperate need of an injection if only to make fans believe again.
A sorry sorry state of affairs that no-one seems willing to fix.
Hi Le Coq, hope you’re well.
hey goonie, what you going to do if Koeman becomes are next manager
Hi Herb. Good comment….
Fred, hear the touts are offering buy one get one free for the Villa game lol.
rico 3.53, no-one wants to be remembered as the referee who scuppered Leicester’s title challenge !
MG anyone but wenger. I hate both but koeman is the lesser evil. Lol plus what he did to me is almost 30 years ago. He’s a brilliant manager but I ll rather smidth of mainz or massimo allegri.
Simeoni won’t come and spalletti don’t speak English. I ll have loved ancelotti over pep or anyone else but bayern’s got him. Too late now.
3 – 1 Come on you Saints!
Howe of Bournemouth too is worth a shout. I love what he’s done at Bournemouth. Think he’s the best upcoming English manager. I see a mid table team recruiting him soon. West brom could use a manager with his philosophy. From what I heard most baggies can’t stand that whiskery face turd Tony pubis.
Lol its cringe worthy seeing fellow gooners cheer for 3rd spot. Kill me now somebody kill me. Yikes CG please. You re embarrassing me. Lol
🙂 Micko, even against the Mancs though? Unusual…..
There are tons of good managers out there. Who could do better with the resources we have current but trust wenger apologists to say no one was available.
If Saints can hold on Cg, it’ll be a great result for us….
Lol Rico it see what you are doing. I won’t take the bait 😀
Well, Arsenal was 4-0… 4-1 at the moment
JM benfica is just a game away from the super liga title. Told you your crappy Porto team can’t compete this season. Lol
Not at all Goonie, I want Arsenal to get 3rd or 2nd.
Knocks down City’s goal difference too…
Alright rico everyone to his/her own. 2nd 3rd or 15th makes no difference to me. Only first matters. The league was there for the taking this year but we bottled it again. In classic wenger form. Am sorry maam but I won’t celebrate mediocrity anymore. We ll only be knocked out in the second round next season. So what’s the point?
Rico – Considering how many of their top players the Saints have lost to other BPL teams this last few seasons it is great to see them beating the mega petrodollar team. Though cheering for Chelski tomorrow will be much more difficult and morally repugnant, but is unfortunately necessary.
Oh the sacrifices we Arsenal supporters are forced to make.
Maybe I should join Lee at colchester 😀 lol
Well Goonie, I support the club, not the manager, board or owner, so I want them to finish as high as they can in the table….
Stan – It wont be so much grounds for celebration, but just for relief.
Agree Cg. Mind you, look what’s happened to those they sold. Perhaps they are wiser than we think… Lol
Fair enough. Props to you rico.
This has to be the worst PL season ever in terms of over-all quality.
Fair to say it has been shockingly poor.
If you’re about Kev, I need to get back to you later regarding our Norris – Kroenke discussion.
Relief CG? How’s that?? The chavs manure or shitty aren’t ripping the league. Leceister and spuds are. Where’s the relief in that my man?
what a waste of money sterling was, he is pure shit
It sure has Herb, and Arsenal have been right up there when it comes to being poor. Goodness only knows how we are third….
Stan – 4th means playing a series of Champions League qualifying matches before the start of or early in the new season. That will interfere with preseason training. 2nd/3rd place avoids those extra early games and the attendant travel.
Lol don’t let ts hear that MG. Sterling is world class 😀
Exactly Cg…
CG I ll rather 9th or 10th and let’s ficus squarely on the league without any European exertion or distractions. We re miles behind the top 4 in England let alone the rest of europe. What difference ll it make?? We never win it. As long as we keep making the damned top 4 no change ll be forthcoming. We need a new direction.
goonie what does ginge know about football, lol
he tried to tell me that juventus were a bigger and better club than munich
Focus*
goonie i care where we finish
i want to finish above the scum
Lol MG ginge knows his football I ll give him that. He’s well versed one of the few guys I know that watches most European leagues ardently like me. I just love riling him up.
9th or 10th Goonie? You sure your an Arsenal fan? Lol
Like I said MG each to his/her own. Am tired of celebrating mediocrity. I almost lost my shit 5 years ago at Newcastle when kozzer scored the winning goal to take us to europe but over time it got boring MG. I want more than top 4. I won’t celebrate it mate.
Rico, Goonies a Dortmund fan who likes Arsenal. lol
Rico my name says it all 😀
I know Mg… Lol
4 – 2 Full time.
Perhaps you should have stuck with Stan Goonie…. Lol
MG 😀
Good result. Now we just need to go to City and not lose…
Nah stan makes me sound like an old bald prick with issues 😀 I love arsenal rico. Not a local but I bleed red and white. Haven’t been to a live game but have been following ardently since 1995 when bergy joined so hey I am a gooner through and through.
Goonie – “CG I ll rather 9th or 10th and let’s ficus squarely on the league without any European exertion or distractions. We re miles behind the top 4 in England let alone the rest of europe…” Arsenal are in the the top 4 in England for goodness sake. As for 9th or 10t place, I wasn’t aware that any of the eastern states had legalized marijuana. I thought that was that was limited to the Wild Wild West.
Ok Stan.
You know what I mean CG 😀 don’t take it out of context. Lol
https://youtu.be/W0bsdKBNrjU
Spot on DT
I’m off for the day guys, catch up tomorrow..
Night all…
Good Night Rico and all. I’m off to gird my loins for the odious challenge of cheering for Chelski.
Lol CG nice ti chat with you after a long while. Have a good one mate.
I’ve decided I’m not going to cheer the chavs, instead I’m going to boo the sperms as loud as I can!
Morning All
Morning Kev and all…
Morning all. Happy International Labour Day, (except in Switzerland where they don’t celebrate it at all! I suppose they don’t have to as they are not members of the EU!) if Brexit win will we surrender our right to the May Bank holiday, and join the Swiss in a return to work?
Bright and breezy here. Perfect for a Bank Holiday trip out. I wonder if it will our last one, for a while??
Morning Rico, Kev, Wavy and all.
It’s a groggy old morning here.
Rico, wouldn’t be rather ironic, in this upside down season, if the Spuds implode and we finish up 2nd…
What would that say about the EPL, especially if against all the odds, ManCity knock out Real Madrid and reach the CL final…
Demonstrations, some of the worst performances under Wenger, and still finish on a ‘high’…
What a crazy season…
Adam, it was a groggy afternoon yesterday, but a thoroughly enjoyable one, I feel like that nutcase with the ten footer, albeit without the bloodshot eyes… ?
Morning Wavy & Adam…
Grey and chilli here….
I’d love it Kev, they have a few tricky fixtures and no Alli….
I’d love At Madrid to win the CL though Kev..
New post up now..
