Arsenal in’s and out’s officially confirmed.

Morning all.

A short one today.

The above is the who’s in and who’s out of the squad travelling to Singapore. I doubt we can read much into it though as Torreira, Ospina and Welbeck are yet to return from World Cup duties. Apparently Mesut Ozil has come back slightly early because he knows the training is very tough and he doesn’t want to be left behind as far as preparation goes. Well, something like that.

Lucas Perez is in there which I’m chuffed about. An outcast under Arsene Wenger might suddenly have an Arsenal career ahead of him and why not? The youngsters included are Nelson, Eddie, Smith-Rowe, Willock, Osei-Tutu and Martinez and it’s their chance to impress the new coach against two very experienced sides. I’m a bit disappointed that neither Sky Sports or BT Sport are covering our tour, instead it’s The Premier League Channel which means another £10 to watch both. I might see if the Lottery comes up trumps later….

We now face Lazio instead of Sevilla in our last friendly which is a shame, but it should still be a good workout. Taking of Lazio, rumour is they are interested in signing Alex Iwobi. ‘Taxi!’

Other rumours suggest that Chuba Akpom, Joel Campbell and Carl Jenkinson are on their way out for good while Bielik, Reine-Adelaide are heading out on loan.

Have a great weekend guys..

Good evening all, aren’t the games being shown on Arsenal.com? Can’t think why I bothered to sign up for it. Still it is free, so I suppose that’s something.

I hope Perez stays, he’s a better option than Welbeck, and I wouldn’t miss Iwobi.

Another very hot day here in Norfolk, and more to come still, mustn’t grumble eh?

Good morning all.

If reports in Spanish paper Marca are to be believed, Arsenal are in “advanced talks” to sign Yann Sommer the Swiss number one goalkeeper from Borussia Monchengladbach. This news(?) comes as further news(?) that Roma are interested in signing Petr Cech as a replacement for their ‘keeper Alisson who has joined Liverpool.

Personally I think the chances of Cech going to Roma are considerably higher than Arsenal chasing yet another ‘keeper. But who knows?

Morning.

Monreal? He had a nice holiday at World Cup but is he resting as well?

‘morning Rico, I don’t believe the Sommer story, but from the moment we signed Leno the writing was on the wall for both Cech and Ospina. If both of them do leave, I suppose signing Sommer makes sense as either Macey or Martinez as third choice would be good, with the other going out on loan.

Perhaps Javi Garcia, our new goalkeeping coach, has seen something he doesn’t like in our present ‘keepers.

Rico their are no refunds for cancellation of bookings at the Blackpool B&B Nacho chose for his post World Cup break. He even paid the extra charge for exclusive use of the cruet at breakfast. 😉

Dejan Iliev (23) has only recently signed a new contract, we have Matt Macey (23),
Emi Martinez (25), Bernd Leno (26), David Ospina (29) and Petr Cech (36).

I’m not sure where Yann Sommer (27) fits into that if Emery only want 3 goalkeepers?
Although I thought that Sommer had a good World Cup and he obviously knows Lichtsteiner.

If Osei-Tutu continues his impressive preseason form, playing both left and right back, then I wonder if Emery would be tempted to let Monreal leave?

From a financial perspective the club would lose a big salary and a 32 year old player.
From a team perspective it would be a huge loss.

But maybe the rumours of Nacho wanting to take his family home to Spain are true?

I hope he stays…

The Alex Iwobi rumours are interesting, €25m/£22, seems to be the suggested asking price.
Iwobi going on tour doesn’t mean anything as Cech is on tour and he could be on his way?

Yeah Rico, maybe the new goalkeeping coach has seen a problem, but bringing in two new goalkeepers doesn’t say a lot for the old regime…

Yes Rico, you can read me like a book…. 😄

Rico. Coman or Costa or Dembele perhaps. A really quick wide man.

Good afternoon, All,

There is a ‘feel good’ atmosphere amongst the Gooner fans because of the new regime at Arsenal, and made more so by the early signings this summer, rather than the last minute/last day rush followed by “we tried for ‘X’ but ….”

There does not seem to be much made of the fact that the newcomers are either quite old (in football terms) or are very young/inexperienced.

I agree with the above comments about the goalkeepers — Leno is the 4th choice Germany keeper, so why did we go for him? Is it the old ‘we cannot afford the really top players’ which smacks of the old regime.
Personally I think Cech and Ospina should go, and Macey or Martinez should fight to be the N0.2 to a new top keeper like Oblak.

Is Lichtsteiner the No.2 to Bellerin – or is Bellerin going to be sold to Barca? Is a 34 y.o. full back the right way to go.

As the season gets under way I hope these transfer choices do not end up with the fans saying ‘why did we buy him …. or him’.

Hopefully I am being too downbeat — but amongst the current euphoria, it does not hurt to have at least one voice whispering his misgivings. 🤠
