Arsenal going for gold….

Morning all.

It’s funny how when the story about a petition against the signing of Noni, it spread like wildfire yet when Declan Rice made his feelings clear on our fourth summer signing, I don’t think his words travelled much further than Arsenal.com. Positivity doesn’t suit the Arsenal agenda does it?

I doubt Myles Lewis-Skelly’s opinion will be reprinted much either but like Rice, our young left back can’t wait to team up with Noni:

“Noni is my guy!” We get on so well and we are so similar. I’m really happy he’s joined us because even when I joined up with the national team, he made me feel so welcome. And so vice versa when he came here, I made him feel welcome as well. He’s so direct, can play on the left or right wing. His qualities are going to help us out so much. I’m so excited to have him because he’s going to bring a lot to the team.”

Honestly, I didn’t take a lot of notice of him at Chelsea when we played them but I do remember he scored against us a couple of years ago. Interestingly, Kepa was in the Chelsea goal that day when Arsenal scored three but the Chelsea defending was awful. But for Kepa, we’d have absolutely hammered them.

Of all the Noni moments in the above clip, it was Oleksandr Zinchenko’s dreading defending which caught my eye. Seriously though, this young man looks like a player ready to perform for Arsenal and in all likelihood, England too. I really don’t give a toot about his critics because they’re not important. What is important is him believing in Mikel Arteta and Arteta believing in him. This is a player who allegedly didn’t want to go on holiday, he wanted to be in Singapore with his new teammates. In my opinion, Noni is no Chelsea reject but just one of many players who the West London club ditch because signing someone else appears a better option. Abramovich might be long gone but they still operate in the same way. I might end up looking a bit of a plonker but I don’t care, I’m excited about what he’s going to bring to the Arsenal table.

Viktor Gyokeres is another player I can’t wait to see playing in an Arsenal shirt. He’s fought tooth and nail to get to north London and if reports are correct, he’s there now with a medical to be completed. He may not have been on every fans striker wish list at the start of the summer but that’s just too bad. If he hits the ground running and starts banging the goals in, very few fans will be feeling disappointed. He’s a now player, a proven player who has done well at every club he’s played for as a senior. He’s strong, determined and clinical. Isn’t that exactly what we wanted? As said before, both Madueke and Gyokeres aren’t afraid to take a shot which should in theory lessen the need to try and walk the ball into the net.

Eberechi Eze is back in the headlines, not that he really ever left them but nearly every back page this morning suggests Arsenal are going to “ramp up” their move to sign him. Another 27 year old, another “now” signing if he joins. Reiss Nelson’s name has cropped as being part of a potential deal.

Catch up later.

Good morning Rico and everyone, its been a while.
If we are able to pull off Eberechi along after Victor’s transfer it will make this biggest transfer I’ve witnessed. And I’ve been a gunner for over 20 years 🤣🤣

What’s your opinion on martinelli? Keep or sell?

I have this little sentiment concerning Nelson and I hope he is given a chance to prove himself this season

Maybe we can offer Jesus and cash for Eze

Apparently we are looking at Jesus to Flamengo but we will have to pay half of his salary whilst he is on loan .It is said that he is open to going back to Brazil but I would couple it with an obligation to buy , not just an option.

What a great day for UK sport, England cricket really turning the screw on India and the Lions coming from behind to break Geoff’s heart… 😃

£26,500 a week salary so a saving of about £6,890,00 per annum.

Very happy Rico, I take it you mean about the rugby. To come from behind, so late in the game was a real sickener for The Wallabies. Two up in a three match series is a little bit more than I expected.

A great start for us in the Indian second innings.

I was disappointed that Marcus Smith was not in the squad, in a match like today’s where both teams relied on steamroller tactics he could have added some variety to our attack.

But hey, what do I know. 😕

Not happy Kev, I don’t understand the game but the ref was blind, we were robbed😢 on the bright side, I didn’t throw anythink at the tv like I did dureing an Arsenal match last season, boy whata mistake to make it cost me a new tv

Don’t worry Geoff the Baggy Greens will turn the tables on us later this year I suspect. England will need all our best bowlers to stand a chance on your hard, bouncy wickets. 😬

I’d like Jesus to stay, having a fit Jesus coming off of the bench would do for me, but it seems as if I’m a lone voice.

I’ve never been a proponent of paying an Arsenal player to play for somebody else – and I bet that Flamengo want an option and not a obligation.

Isn’t Jorginho at Flamengo?

I am not a wiz with contracts, but just wondering if it would be cheaper to pay Jesus out instead of paying another club part fees and not to mention getting him back and haveing to pay for any medical cost on top if he gets injured, unless we have a claus that allows us to bring him back mid season if needed due to injuries

Paying him off would cost about 27 and a half million pounds , which would probably screw our financial situation . He has 2 years on his contract

Here it is c/o bbc

Arsenal have completed the signing of Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres from Portuguese club Sporting for 73m euros (£63m).
The 27-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Gunners after the move was held up because of negotiations between the clubs over add-on payments.
The final sum is made up of a 63m euro transfer fee plus 10m euros in add-ons.
The move takes Arsenal’s summer spending up to about £204m, following the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera.
“Viktor has so many qualities. He is a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers at club and international levels,” said Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
“He brings a clinical edge with a high conversion rate of chances into goals, with his intelligent movement in the box making him a constant threat.
“We’re excited about what Viktor brings to our squad and are looking forward to start working with him.”
BBC Sport revealed at the start of the month how Arteta’s side had turned their attentions to Gyokeres after hitting an impasse in their bid to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta flew to Lisbon to lead negotiations with the Portuguese club.
The deal concludes the long-running saga over Gyokeres’ future, after he was linked with Manchester United earlier this summer.
Gyokeres failed to report back at Sporting for pre-season earlier this month, and the club’s president Frederico Varandas said the player would face disciplinary action

At long long last. A nice new shiny Swede

The number ten shirt is still available if he takes that Jesus won’t feel threatened.

Mexzi, keep Martinelli definitely! Although I think Trossard might move on.

Number 14 it appears, and definitely keep Martinelli , he now has a target to aim for.

Berta has so far shown that he’s a very capable operator at signing new players and getting them for sensible prices.

Now he has to show how good he is at selling players at realistic prices, so no more loans to Fulham without an obligation, no more free gifts to anyone, we can wait until August 31st for them…

The No.10 shirt?
Eze I reckon…

Just paid my pay subscription for epl with a different company the last one I paid for the whole season and the claimed it was for half a season so I refused to pay twice. Ranting over.

I’m starting to get a little bit excited about this season, I like Trossard but I think he will leave

No point looking for Gyokeres’s number on the club website they haven’t woken up to the fact that he’s now an Arsenal player. W F H has to stop. 😉
