Arsenal crisis.. What crisis? Walcott’s arrival changed the game….

It seems like only a year ago but here we are again. Another mid-season Arsenal crisis and nobody quite does a crisis like Arsenal and I know this is true because the TV media and newspapers tell us so. That’s how they wanted us to feel prior to yesterday’s game against a Sunderland side who had won their last two matches…

But a crisis?

I mean let’s look at this crisis and compare it with say, Aston Villa or Newcastle, now those are teams where the word crisis seems more appropriate and what about multi-million pound, petrodollar Chelsea FC, who stood yesterday morning 12 points behind a ‘crisis’ torn Arsenal. It’s enough to make any true Arsenal fan jump in front of a tube train at Arnos Grove or Cockfosters or Balham or anywhere, just like Eugene Quills…

Anyway I turned up at the Emirates yesterday having made my bet on Bet 365, complete with my hat, scarf, rattle and credit card, just so I could buy a beer…

Facing the Gunners was our old mate Big Sam, that paragon of open, flowing, tantalising football and his all singing all dancing team from Wearside.

Expectations of a parked bus were soon blown apart as Sunderland, and in particular Watmore, actually took on the home team. It was quite un Sam-like and caused us a few worrying moments early in the game.

Arsene had picked pretty much the only team he could pick and it was obvious to me, that after those three EPL games and the dropping of 7 points the confidence was low…

The passing lacked its usual crispness, Ramsey was working hard but it just wasn’t happening for him. Oxlade-Chamberlain made little impression, Giroud was being, well, Giroud, although in fairness to him the service he received was poor. Campbell was for most of the game, on the periphery.

Our attack lacked a cutting edge, but Ozil was magnificent, like a master conductor, directing his orchestra, but a lot of his good work came to nothing. He missed Alexis – we all do, and Walcott for that matter. To get the best from Ozil you need forwards who are quick, you need players constantly on the move offering Mesut options for him to slide the ball through. Flamini worked hard, Campbell was ok, the defence was good, but we didn’t look likely to score despite trying to create pressure.

Sunderland looked dangerous on the break and then it happened, Campbell engineered himself a shooting position and calmly slid the ball home…

Cue relief, but it didn’t last and a carefully crafted free-kick into the Arsenal box sped past two Sunderland players on the near post, and Giroud stuck out a boot to score in his own net…

Half-time…

FullSizeRender

The team came out after half time and tried to put Sunderland under pressure and eventually Giroud headed home to restore our lead following some great work by Ramsey. Ozil continued to be everywhere, linking play and trying to make things happen.

Campbell, AOC departed and on came Walcott and Gibbs.

Walcott’s arrival changed the whole team dynamic. Gone was the static Giroud based attack, Walcott used his pace and trickery and Arsenal began to dominate.

Ozil finally had a forward on his wavelength.

FullSizeRender (1)
Giroud went off to be replaced by Chambers, Sunderland almost grabbed another equaliser, then Ramsey got the goal which his endeavours deserved. Aaron never hid, even when it wasn’t going right, he never gave up and we’re going to need that kind of determination over the forthcoming weeks as we wait the return of Alexis and Co.
We’re also going to need the intelligence, quality and inventiveness of Ozil. He truly is world class…

And so the crisis was averted.

ManCity dropped 3 pts
ManUre dropped 2 pts, as did the Spuds.
Leicester won and went top so well done to them.

And the crisis club went 2nd…

Oh, and Chelsea lost at home to Bournemouth and are now 15 points behind Arsenal, who, did I mention, are 2nd in the EPL…

Crisis, what crisis?

    Thanks Kev, good post.

Only seen the highlights this morning. Ozil is a sensation… But he clearly misses the speed and movement which Walcott and Alexis give us when playing.

Thought Campbell took his goal well, Cech was outstanding, Ollie was as you say, Ollie but took his second goal well.. 😉

Good three points which were desperately needed after a mini run of shockers..

Now for Tuesday, will we, won’t we?….

  2. goonster says:

Rico I say let the cl go. Play the kids. Even if we beat olympiacos and qualify we ll be humiliated in the next round. No santi and coquelin?? No chance. Even when we had both bayern destroyed us. Imagine a midfield of flamini and Ramsey against Barca!!! Sweet Lord Jesus.

  3. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

That is a crisis filled post dear Kev. considering the crisis full circumstances swirling around North London you did mighty well with that report. I enjoyed reading it.

I did not see the game, so cannot comment too much. But from the highlights i saw I can say that I enjoyed many aspects. The goals were all quality goals, yes even the one by Aaron.

Were we so poor as the media says??? I do not know. But isnt the hallmark of a great team winning when playing badly and being poor? Do we need to chastise ourselves every time?? we cant win every game 10-0 and having 100% possession.

Oh, and I like Sunderland’s kit very much.

Meanwhile, it would be advisable for everyone to remember that the league is played over 38 games not only on the last game.

  4. rico says:

Trouble is goonster, we’d end up in the Europa league and that would be even worse as you can bet AW won’t play the reserves in that competition…

But I’m not fussed about the CL either, other than another win will do us good…

  5. Tai says:

    Injuries!

What makes Arsenal injury situations a mystery is the pattern…once a forward player gets injured, all others join…

Arsenal started the League with Walcott favoured in most games to strike…Ramsey from right and Sanchez from left…we dominated, quick, beautiful…on a good run but boom…Ramsey cops up hamstring…Walcott and Chamberlain follow in next game…and our fine flow and form got grounded…

Just as we were getting used to seeing Campbell from the right and just Giroud holding the striking role all alone…Coquelin went, Carzola followed…as well as Sanchez who tremendously helps both midfield and defense…if German national coach, Low wasn’t magnanimous with Ozil, I’m almost certain he would have joined to make certain our complete midfield got grounded…

How long will it take Koscielny, Mertesacker and Monreal from getting injured al at same time? God forbid! But this is Arsenal…it could come during the very bust festive fixtures…

  6. scottfromoz says:

Devil, according to the media “experts”, we were average and Sunderland were fantastic.
    Go figure lol
    Pick apart Girouds goal.
I’ll say it…….we will not see a better constructed goal all season.
Every bit of it had to be inch perfect.
    Nacho created space beautifully….superb work.
Ramsey cross was out of this world.
Split second, inch perfect precision, and it had to be.
    Girouds finish was just perfect.
    Go on…..pick me apart lol.
Before you do, though, just have another look at it.

  7. goonster says:

Fair enough rico but we have a better chance wining the Europa league than cl. Wenger have never won anything in Europe. Maybe it’s time he does. Play the kids and second strong team up to the semi final then unleash the big guns. You ll never know it might be destiny.

  8. Tai says:

goonster…I’d rather we win well on Wednesday and get spanked by Barca later than having to play on Thursdays…

But it’s gonna be herculean without Coq and Carzola…but with Ramsey and Walcott back…we could nick it…those two mean goals…and playing away from home suits them fine. If both had played at Bayern you wouldn’t have seen a 1 – 5!

  9. kelsey says:

Well I am fecking hard to please my friend scott;)
    .
3 weeks in a row we have gone one up only for the oppo to get an equaliser a few minutes before half time,a crucial period, therefore giving them the momentum, and all three teams are supposed to be shite teams and we managed to beat one, well isn’t that effing great.

Cech saved u at least three times at 0-0 and 1-1 but having said that Ramsey scored (just) with his fifteeth attempt of the season,

    Heaven help us in Greece.

I think many just see what thay want to see.We finally overcame them but it was hard work.Bellerin has played really badly these last three games and our defense would get drawn to threads by any decent team. That we don’t have adequate cover in the squad is another story.Having said that Ozil really is world class even if the odd pass went astray and now can play a full 90 minutes.

    Not dooming but a realist.

  10. goonster says:

Tai at what cost??? How’s that for team morale?? And I guess any prospecting player ll jump and join a team getting shred apart huh?? Plus we don’t have the squad to push for all 3 tournaments. I say ditch the cl and focus on the pl. Gee do we ever learn?? We are barely putting 11 men on the pitch yet you want more games. I give up.

  11. scottfromoz says:

Kelsey, I never realised you were in the media.
Trust me, if I want to direct a comment at you, I’ll name you.
Stan, it’s shown year in, year out that players move for the right money, regardless of how well the club is going.
CL football is by no means the deciding factor in the vast majority of cases.

  12. Hell Raising Devil says:

On the 10th of August were were 3 points behind the leaders. Now that is a crisis. Now we are just two points behind Leicester.

The doom mongers have been telling us that we are crap.

Yes, we could and should be around 5 to 6 points ahead of Leicester by now, but imo……its nothing to do with the players or the ones AW failed to buy. Imo……the league is being kept as it is till January. So that interest remains. It will be only after January that one or two teams will begin pulling away.

  13. Tai says:

goonster…if we qualified for CL knockout, we’d definitely play less games…means two more games…but Europa? You’d bet Wenger would be interested in winning it…meaning how many more games? Nine!

Besides, AW could strengthen to truly go for further in the CL…and big teams don’t play the Europa…please not Arsenal!

  14. goonster says:

We won’t make it beyond the second round so why bother. Plus the sight of neymar Messi and Suarez running at our defense makes shit myself. I haven’t recovered from the last spanking Barca handed out to us. God help us if we draw Barca PSG or Madrid!!!

  15. kelsey says:

I was actually trying to be friendly Scott, and it wasn’t directed at you.You see the game one way, I see it another and because we are polar opposites I named you, sorry.

  16. goonster says:

Which I why I said play the kids and get knocked out. If they make it up to the semi final then unleash the big guns. We can’t afford to play 3 games every week with this threadbare squad. No way. Throw the cl game and play the kids and second string players in the Europa league. End of.

  17. scottfromoz says:

All good mate……id rather know where you stand, and it is not personal.
I haven’t once said we played really well, though.
I just believe all things considered….including the lack of signings…..we did well.
We banged 3 in, and had at least another 3-4 fantastic chances.
Sunderland had 3-4 great chances as well, so on stats, we deserved the win.
We must improve to be a chance at the title, as I’ve got little doubt Citeh will find form at some stage.
They’re still our biggest danger IMO.

  18. goonster says:

We need 2 players in January but we both know we won’t get half a player even if we do he ll be shit player on loan or worse a has been. Plus what really irks me is wenger ll wait till the dying moments of the window to get the much needed player. I say why bother then. If you have identified the said player by George do all you can to get him a day after the window opens. Sheesh this guy ll be the death of me. God help me.

  19. Wavy says:

Morning all. Only lost four panels of the rear fence! Result. Usually. They fly everywhere! Expensive business! Still it just replacement and renewal! AW knows all about that strategy doesn’t he? My back four is broken! Boo hop!

Poor we were from all accounts but a win is a win! A good summary Kev. Impartial I’d say, well with just a hint of bias!

I bet the rattle went down well in the library! Did it excite Stewardly rebukes? I mean they’re all paid up members of the noise abatement society. Rule one: no rattling in the cheap seats!

For me, only a substantial win on Tuesday will do. If we’re condemned to Thursday soccer it will terminate our season, totally. If we qualify for the next round of the CL it means we’ll only have two more games to play!

  20. goonster says:

There you go Scott 😀 finally 😀 wasn’t that fun? Next stop is to finally get you to say wenger is shit and should be kicked out 😀 lol

  21. Adam says:

Stanley. Not great mate. She has fractured her third metatarsal and is in a surgical boot and on crutches. She had the ball in the kitchen and I came in with a sliding tackle that caught her. It was after the ball had gone so no foul really. But I have ended up as a true house husband as a result. Prognosis is 6 weeks on the sidelines but I imagine she’ll be back before Welbeck.

  22. goonster says:

Hey Adam you seen the news an arsenal fan ernie sometimes got hit by the bus and killed on his way to watch the game. I heard he’s been going for 75 years. Yikes.

  23. Hell Raising Devil says:

I feel it will an attack of Campbell, Ollie and Theo at Olympiakos. With Flamini, Aaron and Ozil in MF. Alternatively it will be an attack of Campbell, Theo and Ox. With Ollie being introduced from the subs bench at the famous 60th minute.

  24. scottfromoz says:

Stan, Ernie was 90 year old and went to home and away games, plus rarely missed an England home game.
He was a regular at the Supporters club and very well known.
    Very sad.

  25. goonster says:

Yes you do scotty Oz lol. Yeah right. You re the archbishop of the wengerites. Left to you and your cohorts. He should never leave lol. Come on scotty I can see through you 😀

  26. Adam says:

Stan is that the poor chap that got blown into the bus in north London in the gale yesterday? I thought he was 90 years old. What a tragedy and a terrible end after all the things he must have seen. Shocking.

  27. scottfromoz says:

    What is it with managers?
Van Gaal just stated West Ham played for a point and got it.
The highlights show them hitting the post a few times and UTD being saved by De Gea on other occasions.
    Do they think nobody watches?

  28. joaquim moreira says:

goonster,if we draw Barça, PSG or Madrid is a good signal: we are in the next round.
I think we van win in Greece but doubts if the score will be enough
Like I’ve posted yesterday, It’s s a question of tactic: Giroud can’t play alone back to the goal. another player (at least..) must appear in the area. With Alex or Cazorla they do that; with OX and Campbell on the sides and Flamini and Ramsey on the middle no. Ox and Campbell playing in the sides they not go to the area but outside the area; Ramsey must help flamini because Flamini is´nt Coquelin. In consequence, there will be a big gap between the defense and the attack.

  29. goonster says:

Adam he deserves a stand named after him. What a legend. The lads have to win this league in his memory. RIP ERNIE gone but not forgotten.

  30. goonster says:

JM you said my man. We ll probably win but fall short of qualifying. Hey that ll please me a lot. We ll spare ourselves spanking from the top tier teams 😀

  31. matt says:

I have just read the bbc’s match reports on both the arsenal and chelsea games and they are more negative towards arsenal! Really strange reporting and does make me think some people dont want to see us win the league.

  32. doctorcontext says:

The continuous Arsenal crisis is a media construct…and is mostly about the exaggerated manipulation of feeling, expressed as no confidence in Wenger.
And, it’s mostly to do with the fact that The Emirates is the nearest ground to the journalists’ offices.

Wenger is a genius, and every other club would want him as their manager.

There are, by any objective measures, clubs with much bigger problems…whether financial, technical, or cultural.
In the end, everything will be fine.

  33. kelsey says:

I wonder what Cesc is thinking. His career is going downhill fast.

Back to Wednesday not Tuesday folks.

yes we can score 2 or even 3 but with the players available and the way we defended these last three games, can you honestly think hand on heart that Away in a volitile atmosphere we won’t concede. It’s a hard call to tempt me otherwise.

  34. Dublingunner says:

Afternoon, Good post Kev, Well to take just 4 from a possible 12 and to still be in a position we are, speaks volumes off a league that no team as yet have stamped their authority on.

Including ourselves, no team has shown enough consistency, and you feel it would simply be criminal of AW not to bring in exactly what is needed in Janurary, but that’s where the trouble starts, with Alexis, Wilshere and Arteta all pencilled in for a Boxing day return, Wenger will no doubt feel that will be a sufficient number back, for him not to buy, perhaps even the board should go over He,s head on this one and demand the strengthening we will no doubt need to kick.

Never will we have a better opportunity under Wenger to win a Premier league title, with a real chance we could be top this Christmas, even with all our injury troubles, you,d have to feel that if AW can,t win this league, then jesus, he never will.

  35. kelsey says:

So let’s rephrase that and say Wenger was a genius or I prefer a very good manager that guided us through the transition and he like nearly everyone else thought FFP would balance things out but it didn’t and won’t.

The anti Arsenal bias shown by the media has always existed.I wanted Wenger to go two years ago with his head held high, at the moment we are a car crash waiting to happen, the only thing that is stopping it is that all the other main contenders that we thought at the start of the season are tripping over themselves as well, yet Liverpool and Spurs cannot be dismissed and kudos to leicester after 15 games, but will they keep it up ?

  36. allezkev says:

    Afternoon All…

Afternoon Rico, thanks for the sub-edit… ?

Thanks for all the positive, not so positive and non comment on the post…

I suppose it all about perceptions…
If, by some miracle, this neurotic Arsenal team can stay in contention until our injured return and then we can go on our usual late run, then anything is possible?

  37. goonster says:

My top 3 midfielders of all time zizou pirlo and my Idol boban. Wow they don’t make players like these anymore. Atleast I can beat my chest that I saw them play at their prime.

  38. allezkev says:

Fcuking hell, just seen those stories about the 90 year old Arsenal fan…

I heard if reported on the radio last night…

I met him loads of times on the bus to away games, never knew his name but he was a great old fella, always cheerful.

    Shit man, that sucks!

  39. goonster says:

Shame kev what a way to go. I hope the club acknowledges him in the next home game with a minute silence. It’s the least we can do to honor him. Poor fella.

  40. allezkev says:

    Hi Stan…

Yeah, Arsenal are quite good in that regard, I’m sure that they’ll be some mention of Ernie…

  41. Dublingunner says:

I think a little more than a minutes silence, for his continued loyalty and support over 80 years should be gave, maybe a plaque on a wall or a seat, would surely be a nice touch.
    A True Gunner, RIP.

  42. rico says:

That’s dreadfully sad about Ernie. I read the story about the poor fella who got blown over in the wind and then hit by a bus… Didn’t realise it was him…..

    RIP Ernie…..

  43. rico says:

    Not in a negative way I hope Kev… 😉

Two big bags of shopping from Aldi = £23

One big bag of shopping from Waitrose = £16

No wonder Wenger chooses Aldi… 😉

  44. allezkev says:

Stan, I’ve always found something magical about Arsenal in the 1930’s, and to be able to talk to an Arsenal fan who can remember those days – not many left now, is a very enjoyable experience for me…

I’m not sure, that when I’m 90 ( please God) that my recollections of Terry Neill, Ian Ure, Fingers Furnell, David Court, David Jenkins, Jimmy Robertson, Bobby Gould et al, are going to carry the same weight as say Alex James, David Jack and Jack Crayston… ?

  45. goonster says:

Some cnuts on arsenal fan TV disliked his tribute and said some nasty words. I mean some people need to be boiled down into glue like Adam always say. I was surprised to see scum fans paying tribute to him. It came from all over. Manure chavs spuds heck even a Milwall fan. We re all people after all.

  46. Dublingunner says:

Just think it would be the right thing to do, Rico.
I,d say he had a few stories to tell, to die on his way to the game, wow.
Fantastic outpouring of tributes proves that Football fans can be amazing when they come together.

  47. goonster says:

Rico he could have been better than giroud if only he applied himself. Some of his build up play was sensational. And he did score some scorchers. Shame his ego didn’t let him.

  48. kelsey says:

rico, the official site says we play on Wednesday, I also thought it was Tuesday, not that it matters now as the damage has been done. By the way I would hate to think what Campbell had that dummy wrapped around 😉

Szsney reminds me of bedtner in the sense that they both have burnt their bridges with the boss.

  49. rico says:

That dummy thing was all rather odd Kelsey. Took him an age to undo it and then looked rather silly – each to their own though I guess…

What’s behind the dummy though, does anyone know?

  50. goonster says:

Lol rico 😀 but we could use a bendtner right about now. Off the bench that is. Our squad is so thin it’s scary. It’s going to be a huge January. Pray le scrooge gets his check book out early or we ll be in the sewer up to our chins.

  51. goonster says:

People keeps harping on about how Campbell isn’t arsenal material well the kid has 2 goals to his name in less than 6 games yet penzard over at Stamford bridge has none in almost 15 games. Just saying .

  52. rico says:

He was just another player AW didn’t trust Goonie, nor did he play him in a position where he could have seriously damaged opponents but once his off field behaviour kicked into full swing, he was always doomed…

We certainly need something up front but hopefully Theo will be that player and just pray he stays fit. Him, Ozil and Alexis works so well together…

Shame we don’t have another cracking winger on the right….

  53. kelsey says:

I have one memory of Bedtner, plating Spurs, I think it was 1-1 on he came just as we were awarded a corner and he headed in what amounted to the winner.Am I right ?

  54. kelsey says:

The trouble with Campbell is that he is on his last year of a 5 year contract, 4 years on loan because initially of work permit issues,he had value after the WC but we didn’t seel. The question is, has he got a future at Arsenal or is he playing as if he was in the shop window.

  55. goonster says:

Rico says much about the man’s mental state doesn’t it? Won’t trust bendtner up front but chucks sanogo upfront against bayern and dortmund!!! Tsk tsk tsk.

  56. goonster says:

I think he’s playing to seal a move away kelsey. He’s been treated like shit by dear leader I doubt he ll want to stay after his current deal runs out. Some club in Italy ll get the best out of him soon and we ll be sorry then.

  57. rico says:

Kelsey, he’s said he wants to stay with Arsenal. Not that that means much these days…

Sure does goonster – he certainly makes some very odd decisions, still, good to see De Boer and Dennis are turning Sanogo into a top class striker… lol

  58. goonster says:

On fire rico? A chunk of his goals last season were from the spot kick. Now that he isn’t getting any joy in that direction he’s been exposed for the fraud he is. Don’t get me wrong he’s a fine player but on fire??? No chance.

  59. goonster says:

I spoke with a cousin who’s an avid Ajax fan (spits) he says (word on the streets)that Denis says he haven’t seen a worse player in his time as a player or coach. Says sanogo won’t cut it. Not there not anywhere. Lol

  60. goonster says:

That ship has sailed man. We have Sanchez even though am not his biggest fan I still won’t trade him for penzard. Lol

  61. kelsey says:

goonster thee is a thin line between genius and madness and then there was the loan signing of the injured Kallstrom. In recent years that takes some beating. I agree with you about Cambell. Why did we let Gnabry go, he looked a better prospect or is he on loan ?

My first match was Feb 1958 4-5 loss at Home to United their last domestic match before The Munich Air Crash. I have to say they had some great players and Tommy Taylor could have been one of the greatest CF’s of that era.

  62. goonster says:

Kelsey that kallstrom debacle was the last straw. I mean who signs an injured has been on loan on the last day of the transfer window??? I mean seriously? God give me strength.

  63. goonster says:

Whoa kelsey 1958??? How was it back then? I ve seen pictures and videos but can’t imagine what it felt like.

  64. rico says:

Goonster, hardly surprising re Sanogo… Lol

I know re Hazard, no way will we ever sign him now…

Kallstrom signing was very odd but had he not been injured, I reckon he’d have been good. Signing him with a back injury as bad as he had was simply madness…

Signing Park was worse though, we actually paid money for him… Lol

  65. kelsey says:

I was a kid goonster, but you could park outside if your dad had a car.

In 1970 (i think0 I went to brussels for the first leg of the Fairs Cup Fianal and sat next to Jack Kelsey on the plane. A rookie scored our late goal to make it 3-1 to them, Ray Kennedy. The Home leg played on a mud bath was history. The total cost of plane and ticket to Anderlecht was £12.00

A few years later GG was a guest at my wedding.

  66. goonster says:

Rico signing kallstrom made no sense. The dude was injured and haven’t played in a while. Plus he had all January so what was his excuses? Park was a weird signing too but nothing beats kallstrom maam. Am sorry. I still haven’t forgiven him.

  67. goonster says:

Oh cool an arsenal legend at my wedding good Lord I ll shit myself 😀 I still maintain the best years were the 70s. Wasn’t there in flesh but listening to kev wath Lee et al I get the feeling that the 70s were glorious.

  68. rico says:

Get you name dropping Kelsey… 😉

It was utter madness goonster but was a loan, didn’t we pay £6 million for Park? Kallstrom played more games than him…. Lol

  69. shan-T says:

Campbell did better than ox who is inconsistent ox don’t have the football brain like Campbell campbell makes good runs and can pick a pace from anywhere ox is just run past u cross try a trick there. .works today not tmrw inconsistent ox need to improve he has gotten chances a lot if u ask me

  70. shan-T says:

And that thing campbell did was about baby brianna i didn’t think he look silly i figured it was about a baby

  71. kelsey says:

Kroenke wanted to sell shirts in Asia forgetting 99% were knock offs 🙂 rico you knew about GG poor man is crippled with arthiritis and Peter Storey is very ill.

  72. shan-T says:

Who here think arsenal should buy wanyanna from Southampton and loan them chambers in January ? I do. . Think they’ll take the deal? 18mil plus chambers on loan. Whats your say?

  73. goonster says:

Rico ruben neves is the shit. From what I ve seen of him. JM should have in depth analysis about his game. I hope we sign him but I know we won’t. Not when we still have jack Wilshire Danny welbeck santi and coquelin.

  74. rico says:

Won’t be long to see what he does Goonster, just hope he shows some of the old Wenger, the one who made signings in the winter….!

  75. rico says:

ShanT, I think it was pretty obvious Campbell’s celebration was about a baby by putting a dummy in his mouth, but I’d imagine there’s more to it and that’s what I was asking….

  76. goonster says:

Rico don’t hold your breath. We both know what ll happen. Am not going to put myself through that ever again. He’s a liar and a fraud who doesn’t give a hoot about us fans.

  77. kelsey says:

Wanyamma was on my hit list in the Summer..

I don’t know rico with regards to Storey but Martin Wengrow knows all the players passed and present and is writing a book about Arsenal. he is very well connected at the club.

  78. kelsey says:

I honestly belive that a)Wenger does lie,he’s admitted it and so do all managers b) he is under a directive from Kroenke to finish top 4 anything else is a bonus, but I have a horrible feeling it could all go wrong this season. Then Kroenke will say via one of his men that a season out of the CL won’t hurt us but of course thee sis that £228.00 million earning huge interest in the bank.
Kroenke is only interested in making Arsenal a bigger world brand but forgets you need to win titles ans CL’s for that not a seel our Cold Play concet at our ground that was suggested.

  79. goonster says:

Pool vs the geordies on now rico. Hope someone steps forward and halt this kloppamania. Come on newscastle.

  80. rico says:

Don’t get me started on Kroenke….

Goonie, little chance of Newcastle stopping them from winning again… Hope they dip in form before we go to Anfield…

  81. goonster says:

Well rico Newcastle aren’t doing badly 😀 at this point last week shitty were 3.0 down. Lol. Come on geordies.

  82. BT62 Gooner says:

Didn’t go to the match yesterday, unfortunately i have not perfected the art of walking on water, yet..

Not much new happening, just waiting for xmas to arrive, hope you and Brianna are keeping well.

Just done the Magpies to win……lol

  83. goonster says:

We re doing fabulous BT thanks. The winters here are mild. Am grateful. I hope Newcastle takes the wind off liverpool’s sail. Klopp scares me. He’s on a roll someone needs to bring them back to Earth.

  84. joaquim moreira says:

Difficult. If Porto fail next leg of Champions League maybe, but Ruben Neves is now Porto captain, Portuguese and only 18-19 years old.
    Peter Storey is ill?

  85. goonster says:

DNA you re kinda right my man. We could use a sisokko I tell ya. He’s everything we ve lacked since diaby. Big strong and good on the ball. How we missed him is beyond me.

  86. goonster says:

Rico we need bodies badly popular or not as long as he can do a Job for us who gives a fuck? Plus I think I know what you meant by “popular choice” it’s ts huh 😀 that guy. Lol

  87. Gdna says:

Goon, i wont even mention Mahrez or Mane. All these players are on less wages than OX, JW, AR, DW, JC, MF, MA, TR and OG and they are all better squad players to help any team win the league.

  88. goonster says:

Adam I know what you meant but put sisokko in a midfield made up of santi and ozil and watch him. Ask yourself this question. Who’s he playing with at Newcastle? ? Sorry mate I ll take him pronto.

  89. shanice says:

Aww a porto player how much money u think they porto would ask for? 35-45mil i say .. Is he that good? Now?

  90. joaquim moreira says:

    2-0!
rico, it’s a former player. That means many things.
Sissoko is aman very interesting for us. (i posted this before)

  91. goonster says:

DNA let it go bro. If jack Wilshire can get a full season under his belt we ll be looking at the best English midfielder ever. Better than that cnut scholes lampost and even gazza. I have huge faith in that kid. He’s a talent. One that the English sees once in every 10 generation 😀

  92. BT62 Gooner says:

Great stuff Rico, i think that might be their third win of the season, they have conceded around 30 goals,

  93. goonster says:

Plus if he were to be a chav or manure player ts ll be Kreaming his pants saying he’s better than every player on our payroll 😀 speaking of which where’s ts rico 😀 I miss that loafer so bad. Lol

  94. rico says:

Ts is probably trying to get over the shock of us winning Stan….

Haven’t seen Joe or Roger for a while either, nor Ozgunner….

  95. goonster says:

Kev he’s a handful I find myself smiling at the phone most times he’s on. What a man. Rico I vote Adam for blogger of the year and ts for flop of the year. Lol

  96. shanice says:

Mahrez was at the emirates the last day of the transfer window.. Either wenger change his mind r he is joining us next year.

  97. Penury says:

Lucky 3 points. Due to failure to maintain concentration. When Arsenal score they assume job done. Once again we conceded after going in front. Is it arrogance? because several players are not as good as they think they are. 0

  98. Adam says:

In the ‘Whatever happened to’? category I wonder about Ozgunner who was great and Dutch Gooner. My vote goes to Brudder Lee and his ability to cut through the crap with brilliant use of the English language of profanity. Makes me chuckle. And because he has a decency that reminds me of David Niven.

  99. goonster says:

Adam Lee comes a distant second then there’s my Irish mate micko. He’s the king of banter and obscenities. What a group you have here rico. Lol

  100. rico says:

Welcome Penury. Why lucky? We scored three and they scored one thanks to us…

Yes they had chances but if chances always want in, we’d have beaten West Brom and many other sides. Cech saved us but that’s what a top keeper does….

  101. rico says:

Micko for me too, dry humour which is right up my street…

So how do you know he was there then Shanice or are you just believing the crap spouted by journos?

  102. shanice says:

The best England player should walk in any team once fit.. R there club team. . Not just that but there preferred position too.. Wilshere is a squad player bench rubber lol

  103. rico says:

When fit, Wilshere is one of the first choice for England under Hodgson… Perhaps you don’t get to read about that in Jamaica…

  104. rico says:

Adam, I used to be in regular touch with Dutch gooner but one day he just stopped emailing and commenting and that was that…

Oliver is another who just upped and left too…

  105. shanice says:

Lol r u kidding me. . U think africa is the only epl mad place?? R euro football mad? R u think because were third world we don’t have computers laptop internet etc

  106. Gdna says:

The day AW leave Arsenal KG, JW and AR Arsenal career is over. They just taking up squad space, the club could find better replacement that contribute more and cost less. Watching AR yesterday you realize he will not make it as a CM in a top club, headless chicken.

  107. shanice says:

Wilshere is average a form player no class peaked at17 . Starting for england is of no real value when your club team can beat them without u and don’t even see u as first choice

  108. shanice says:

Of course. i thought Every one had a right to there opinion oh wait unless u step on one of there favorite ofcouse.. Go figure.

  109. goonster says:

DNA I think you have a thing against our British core 😀 lol why are you not picking on flamini arteta or heck sanogo? Why jack Danny gibbo and rambo?

  110. Adam says:

Rico. I know that DG was working in Germany just over the Dutch border. Yes, Agag doesn’t come on as regularly now but she is always good fun.
So, it’s all round Micko’s for the HH Xmas party then. He’ll be over the moon about that.

  111. goonster says:

You know what I pray to God Wilshire comes back stronger and better this time. A lot of people ll be needing throat extensions because of the size of the humble pies they ll be eating. Come on jack. Prove me right. Show them what you re made off.

  112. goonster says:

I doubt it too Adam but hey atleast we have Crowley coming through. I know he’s not a local lad but at least he’s English. Cheer up Adam 😀

  113. Adam says:

I like Jack and I like his arrogant shithead attitude. He’s got something that is bred in north Londoners. Charlie George had it too.

  114. goonster says:

Lol Adam were you around in the glorious 70s?? I feel that was when being an arsenal fan was the “in” thing. We won the double twice in the 70s right? Wish I was around then. Some great players too. Loan Brady et al. You Islington lads had it going on then. Damn lucky bastards 😀

  115. Adam says:

I was Stan. My first wife was an Islington girl and she reckoned she was related to the Queen so I figured that if I married her I might end up being in line for the British throne. She was, as I later discovered, insane. But the upshot was that I went to Highbury a lot and saw some good stuff.
    I think.
I have undergone many mind-altering moments since then though.

  116. goonster says:

Hahahahahahah Adam stop brianna is taking a nap don’t want to wake that little devil up. Gee do you ever get serious? God in heaven. Lol

  117. Gdna says:

Goon, you sound like AW. lol. Were you one people who was asking for Le Coq to be sold and keep CJ? I don’t trust your judgement with players with potential. lol

  118. goonster says:

DNA lecoq was in limbo no one and I mean no one knew he ll turn out the way he did. If you said you did then I ll want some of that ganja you re smoking when I visit you in new York 😀

  119. Adam says:

    See you Kev.
BT. It wouldn’t be a bad title but, something a mate said on the phone a while ago has stuck with me and I’ve always thought I’d use that. I’ll tell you when we hook up. 🙂

  120. shanice says:

I agree with u gDna ox is not that good in my view he is inconsistently bad most of the time. .he doesn’t score r assist i don’t see he has a strong point. He needs work and a lot. Wenger put up with too much average form players. I remember denilson thou he was really good before that back injury

  121. goonster says:

Rico 😀 I just let out a peal of laughter and my daughter is up. Denison good?? Now that’s comedy. Lol lol lol

  122. shanice says:

I give denilson credit. . His inclusion in the team had nothing to do with nationality. .re no english player in arsenal team.. So you all r saying denilson was never good and wenger played a clueless player who was lacking technical skill and technique? ??he never showed any form of quality when he started out? Thats what u all r saying?? ???

  123. Marshall says:

Nice read Kev. I think I am a whining gooner and rightly so cause I know arsenal are capable to win great stuff but they flatter to deceive. The press love to brand us negatively alot Chelsea have 15 points in 15 games yet nobody is calling it a crisis. Still lack a solid dm but when that is sorted (i hope) and the guys come in we’ll have a go at it

  124. shanice says:

Denilson was no good u all say. .yet he played 96 games for arsenal scoring 6 goals as the dm. 2006-2013 he was a captain at the u17 level for brazil.. He was never physical. . His strenghts was passing thats y arsenal could keep the ball so well in midfield he and cesc. . Song and cesspool wasn’t as good in ball retention because song wasn’t as technical as denilson but physical. He could read the game well too. Again i say at the start denilson was a good player before he fall off. . My view.. .

  125. scottfromoz says:

MG, I remember reading that Od never played football in a side until he was a teenager.
His dad coached him one on one until that time.
I wonder if that tells the story now, because he has all the skills, no question.
Campbell could well grow into a hell of a player.
I reckon he has the tools, he just needs experience and he’s getting some now.
Nacho is the one who continually impresses.
I liked him early on, but he’d have to be one of our first players picked now.
The physical aspect of his game has improved so much that not only does he NOT agent out muscled, he does the out muscling quite often.

  126. Orfevrerie says:

    Great post Kev,

but don’t want to spoil our win, we have to see next few games as the vital games await like olym next.

A win with 2 goals margin. Fingers crossed, but still hope for the best result.

  127. Allan Michaud says:

Good post. However, there was one very worrying aspect of the performance, the way we left huge gaps between midfield and defence. It was like going back in time to before Le Coq, nothing had changed. Ramsey charged forward with abandon and Flamini was easily bypassed. With Campbell and Ox on the wings we also have less protection for the fullbacks and we could easily have been 3 down by half time. Bellerin in particular needs to adjust his play while we are missing Santi/Le Coq. If we play like this against top teams we are likely to get hammered just like we did 2 seasons ago, you simply can’t leave so much room in behind and we were more than a little lucky yesterday.
So glad to see Theo back, I like Giroud but we really need the option of Theo to change things up. Can we expect Theo to start wide right next time out? Ox was dreadful yesterday and the goal aside Campbell offered nothing of substance.
If we fail to win the league this time around it will still have been an immensely entertaining season thanks to Maureen’s Meltdown over at the Bridge.

  128. scottfromoz says:

One thing a few people have touched on is Ramsey bombing forward.
    Santi goes forward, doesn’t he?
Difference has been with Ramsey playing right, and even Sanchez Higher up on the left, Santi has constant cover, so is Ramsey to blame for pushing forward, or for not being on the right and covering himself??
    Bit harsh.

  129. Orfevrerie says:

Nice review on Flam and rams positioning, Allan.

But what can I say, we live in a world of arsenal that we have to accept every wenger’s decision, that was not to buy for outfield players in last TW. Flam and rams is not original DM, and Chambers is not convincing yet. It’s down to the ……management that got us to this repeated mistakes.

This link article can sum up the pathetic circle:

    http://metro.co.uk/2015/12/04/painfully-accurate-graphic-sums-up-what-arsenal-fans-go-through-every-season-5543897/

    Sigh………

  130. Lee says:

Fucking hell, someone has been smoking some serious shit…..Denilson a good player??

Ah the metro, what piece shite that paper is unlike the ……. B.R!

  131. Orfevrerie says:

Morning Lee, Scott, Adam, and Rico of course,

Metro indeed is pice of crap news regarding transfer gossip, I admit it.

But I am not talking transfer metro crap, just a funny circle for over 10 years.

    Peace, don’t kill the messenger.

  132. Orfevrerie says:

Ruben Neves was scouted by Arsenal.

Interesting, well as long as AW buy, I can live with that.

Xhaka and Aubameyang would be nice. Come on Arsene, spend little bit the money, please.

  133. Orfevrerie says:

The thing with this neves style of play, he seems to be a deep lying playmaker nature role, same as Cazorla, arteta.

So it’s kinda we are well stocked with this type player.
I think what we really need a hardman more type like our Le Coq type, like Carvalho or Wanyama.
But like I say, as long as wenger finally buy any player, I will take ruben, cuz it will be like a miracle for us if wenger indeed buy.

  134. Orfevrerie says:

Near Scot’s Australia, Adam my friend.

It’s Indonesia. Bali Island the popular visit for our tourists.

Garuda Indonesia a sponsor for Liverpool in Klopp’s jacket if you saw once, it’s an airway company.

  135. Orfevrerie says:

    Well adam,

you know that in Indonesia, we are the second largest fanbase of gooners behind man utd.

that’s why we are very eager when will we grab the league title once more?

    COYG.

  136. Adam says:

Excellent news that. I bet the club love selling all those shirts over there. Even if the money does go straight into the bank. 🙂

  137. Orfevrerie says:

    Well adam, scott,

I’ve trie to save few rupees, maybe if I saved to around 2000 or 3000 quids, I will go to emirates match maybe next season. Fingers crossed.

  138. rico says:

What a day yesterday was for Newcastle. They beat the Dippers and more importantly, Geordie girl Vicky won I’m a Celebrity…. 😉

  139. allezkev says:

Orfeverie, a new Christmas tree, that sounds fantastic buddy…

As for your prezzies, you could say some are from Mum n Dad and some from Santa.
It’s a magical time for your kids, enjoy it mate ?

  140. Adam says:

Hi Kev. Still laid up with me waiting on her mate. She says hello.
It does Rico but you never know what might happen if Wenger walks.

  141. allezkev says:

Adam, that would make for a few interesting bush tucker trials (yes I occasionally watch it Rico)…

I would certainly go into the jungle, but you would have to join us Adam, along with Spectrum, Mick and the guy from Untold…

  142. Lee says:

My son played his last game of rugby (under 12’s) on Saturday to do an Arsenal….. they went the whole season unbeaten!!!!

  143. Lee says:

Full back Kev… not the biggest player but loves tackling and he’s fairly quick, reminds me of a young Brudder Adam! 😉

  144. allezkev says:

Yeah Lee, I think that Adam in his youth, was more into all-in wrestling…

    Or something like that… ?

Full- back eh, that’s one of the glamourous positions isn’t it?

  145. scottfromoz says:

    Tough position, Lee.
All we can do is look after our son, first, and the potential player, second.
We constantly ask ourselves if our actions are in Sean’s best interests, or ours.
We believe we are doing right, but we have to keep raising the question.
Your boy will be fine 🙂

  146. shanice says:

Maybe its the westmoreland highgrade weed. . If ox is seen as good by most of u here.. What r u guys smoking?? .. Denilson was far more technical than ox wilshere. . He was good when he started out at arsenal yes he fell off never return to the level he started at and got worse .. No one here can tell me otherwise. . Wenger is stubborn not clueless. .
