I’m really starting to feel sorry for our captain and I mean that with sincerity.

Whilst the boys were facing Fulham in our last game of the season, Cesc Fabregas was in Spain, watching the Grand Prix. I thought that was slightly naughty, not the fact that he was where he was but for me he should have been with the squad at Craven Cottage and I only say that because it was our last game, the away fans deserved his presence, as did the team he leads.

He got a bit of a battering for that in the blog world but to be fair, he must have been given β€˜permission to leave’ – some have even suggested that it’s all a game because no matter how many links he gets to Barcelona, he’s staying put for another season.

Who knows, I certainly don’t.

Next up relates to his trip to America, a vacation in which he’s joined by another fans favourite, Robin van Persie.

So, picture the scene – both of the boys are β€˜in the zone’, having a fun time at New York Mets baseball game at the Citi Field stadium.

A Mets fan there is also clearly a bit of a Cesc fan and the next thing we see in the media is Cesc wearing a Mets shirt and cap donned on his head – backwards no less!!

So what exactly is wrong here??

Next thing, all the papers report:

‘Cesc captured in another kit’Β

‘Cesc caught wearing another clubs shirt’

What a sinner Cesc is, eh??

Garbage, he’s in closed season, he can do what he wants and with who he wants now can’t he?

Anyway, already the newspapers have torn into him about his trip but there’s just one more bit they feel they need to add…

You and I know already what that is, don’t we?

Robin van Persie only asked Cesc Fabregas to travel to the Big Apple with him and his wife for one reason and that is because Robin fears he won’t be at Arsenal next season….

What utter poppycock!!

Like I say, I feel sorry for Cesc Fabregas right now, no matter what he does over the summer, no matter where he goes or who with, the Newspapers will twist it to sell a paper.

And right now in the world of football, they all want to be the first to report that Cesc Fabregas has left Arsenal for Barcelona…

Well, just maybe they will all need to wait a few more years to grab their headline…
