Morning all.
It’s hard not to get embroiled in transfer rumours this time of year and when it comes to Arsenal, I’m pretty sure those rumours go up a level. You and I know what the media are like only too well. They love playing with people’s emotions, or at least that’s how it appears from the outside looking in.
Even now, with England through to a World Cup semi-final, how they got there seems more important than actually being there. The nation should be right behind the players and manager but what are those football scribblers doing? Trying to create something out of nothing after both Tuchel and Bellingham were interviewed right after the win against Norway. Tuchel wants to see us play better which is understandable as I’m pretty sure every football fan wants to see that, not just Tuchel. As for Bellingham, well he’d just given every ounce of energy he had in him for 120 minutes to help secure what was a very good result so the last he needed to hear was a reporter tell him his manager wanted more from the team.
I read some of the player reviews in one of the newspapers, I know, a stupid thing to do but the defenders marks out of ten were pretty low. Yet this is a defence which stifled Erling Haaland, so much so he was substituted. The same player who the previous day, was considered to be Englands main and possibly only problem ahead of the game and England would struggle to contain him. Well, they did so it makes sense to slate them for doing so. Not!
Anyway, I’ve digressed somewhat.
Transfer rumours, regardless of which newspaper prints them, are seldom worth the paper they are printed on. Odds are one might come true every now and again which considering the number of players Arsenal are linked with each transfer window, it’s hardly surprising. This morning the stories about Barcola not being for sale so Arsenal are back to chasing Julian Alvarez. That is according to The Independent.
If by some miracle this is true, would you be happy, thrilled even to see Alvarez sign for Arsenal this summer?
Over to you…

Alvarez wil play on Wednesday because he is a different type of player than Lautaro.
It will be interesting to see how is stacks up against english defenses.
Hi Stuart, I can’t get my head around the beer/cup throwing either. What a waste, of beer and money.
Hi Rico and all. Trust ya’all are well. Just back from a jaunt in Southern Moravia, in time to watch England win their quarter final at the Taunton Sports Bar. Manic! Approx 400 punters packed in. I got soaked with beer and hit twice by flying plastic pint cups. The poms have a habit of celebrating an England goal by throwing beer up in the air or all over those around them. I saw a couple of fellas tipping full jugs (25 quid a pop) over their mates heads. Waste of good beer if you ask me. I’ll be taking my brolly and bicycle helmet for the semi…
Ha ha.. I will be.
Be careful feeding the ducks on the quay heading then.
I was jesting Potter, i can just about swim. Lol
Do you SKI then , I spent years looking for a downhill lake for my Broom Gemini with it’s 50hp Mercury. In the end I took it to Spain spent the summer ski-ing down there.
Lymington is a bit of a yacht and sailing place. It’s where my speedboat is moored. 😂
The Norfolk Broads has it’s fair share of yachts and sailing terms are used frequently and of course Norfolk was the home of Horatio Nelson when he wasn’t with lady Hamilton cavorting on the Mediterranean .
I hope that Ethan stays too because in a few years he and MLS could well form our central midfield.
I like digressing Kev, I could have been a politician.
Keeping Ethan might prove to be a better result than signing Monga. I’m glad his brother is staying too.
Hello sailor, being a landlubber Potter it’s not a terminology I’m familiar with.
But I do know where Balearics are….
Is that the one with the extending arm Kev ?
It’s another sailing term Kev . It’s a sail which used to identify where a sailing ship came from. rather like changing tack meaning a change of direction they are both naval terms from the days of sail. Definitely JIB .
GIB is a rock just off of the coast of Spain
I see that Argentina are to wear their ‘lucky’ away kit against England. I wonder, is there any reason that England can’t wear their red kit?
I am not sure about Alvarez , it all depends on who steps aside and the method that we are going to use him .
Looking at goal scoring stats he is fractionally more productive than Havertz which some might argue is a fairly low bar to aim at but he pales into insignificance to Gyokeres who has admittedly played in 55 fixtures 14 as substitute .
For me he offers little difference to Havertz as an inside forward if we change to 2 up front , if we stay with the same system and Havertz stays , I have to consider it just more of the same.
That’s what I like about Berta, he almost encourages all these stories about big signings and then out nowhere we sign a Mosquera, an Eze and then a Hincapie.
I like the cut of his gib or is it jib, Cicero, help?
Digression Rico, you go for it mate, we all digress from time to time, I see that Man Utd are in for Tielemans, only £36m due to a clause he had in his contract, smart move, Villa will need to spend a lot more to replace his quality – good….
Whilst on the digression, it seems a lot cooler today, thanks it seems to a stiff breeze, you can’t beat a stiff breeze…
What’s happening with that winger we’ve supposed to be signing? It’s all Greek to me…
Mavropanos, Konsa, Samba, what on earth is going on Rico?
Well at least it seems that Ethan’s brother, Emerson, is going to sign a new contract. Could it be that Ethan’s future at the club has been assured for now by Arteta?
I hope so because we’re gonna need him next month with all our WC players resting. I mean Vieira might get a game? 😳
Thanks Cicero short and sweet. lol
I’m on the fence re Alvarez. Partly because he moved on from City but why I wonder?
Can’t see us signing him anyway..
Nice one Rico.
Twenty-six years old, considered one of the best strikers in the World, what’s not to like.
Mind you, we would have to pay a record fee and offer obscene amounts of money in wages.
It might create a problem with our senior, and better paid squad members..
