Piers Morgan, one of the sports writers for the Daily Mail has hung his writing boots up and moved on to pastures new. I shall miss his articles, not only were they written through the eyes of a Gooner but they were very open, honest and from his heart. I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but he was/is mine.
He didn’t always look at our club through ‘rose tinted’ spectacles either and like many Arsenal fans, at some stage in the last few years he has thought that time was up for Arsene Wenger. However, no doubt like many of those fans, he now re-thinks and looks back at that time and wonders what ever came over him to think such things.
Morgan believes it’s possibly the best time for him to be leaving too as he believes Manchester United and on the way down and ex Manc, Roy Keane is facing the axe…
I get the impression he doesn’t like Old Red Noses side 🙂
On saturday 30th October he looked back on some of his good times and tells us how it’s been for him…..
I’ve never tried to write as a seasoned sporting journalist, with a calm, measured impartial view. Instead, I’ve tried to write as a fan would write: over-emotionally, angrily, reactively, inconsistently. Many times I’ve woken up after penning some furious diatribe in the heat of the moment and thought: Why the hell did I say that?
But the truth is, that like all sports fans, I always meant every word I said… at the time.
Don’t we all Piers??
His highs….
There was the surreal dinner with Lewis Hamilton and P Diddy during which I discovered they’re both Gooners, getting drunk with Frank Lampard (such a nice bloke, for a Chelsea player) and introducing him to Christine Bleakley, exchanging regular hilarious text banter with Rio Ferdinand (who is, as he would say, a ‘top geezer’), having Rod Stewart lecture me on Arsenal’s back four and giving me a Celtic tie, and Jerry Springer introducing me to Muhammad Ali in LA.
Inevitably, his most favourite memories involve Arsenal.
Appearing on a charity fashion show catwalk with Cesc Fabregas and hearing him promise me ‘I’m staying’ when everyone assumed he was leaving for Barcelona.
Why didn’t you tell us Piers??
Receiving a random text from Patrick Vieira, thanking me for some compliment – which, short of Scarlett Johansson texting me to say ‘My place or yours’, is about as excited as I’ve ever been by a technological communication. I also remember standing in an East London church at the wedding of an old friend, and fellow Gooner, Steve Purdew, and seeing the next pews fill up with Tony Adams, David Seaman, Ian Wright and George Graham. Then a flash of light beamed in on to their heads, creating what looked like a giant halo. And quite right, too.
Most of all, I want to say a final word to Arsene Wenger, who has brought me more pleasure, and pain, than any woman could. He’s an indisputable footballing genius and a refined, cultured, intelligent, well-spoken, urbane and impressive man. For the first half of his tenure at Arsenal, he seemed to be an unstoppable trophy-winner. We had two magnificent Double-winning teams, full of big, powerful, wonderfully talented footballers who played in a way that secretly delighted opposition fans.
I’d say my greatest moment in sport was sitting with Arsene and Pat Rice (the greatest unsung hero in football) in the Tottenham boardroom after we’d won the League in the old enemy’s backyard. We and my Spurs-supporting father were the only people left there, so I ordered the most expensive bottle of red wine and we celebrated this extraordinary achievement together.
Morgan labels Arsene Wenger a Genius as he looks to lead our club back to glory…..
I loved Arsene more than life itself that night and could never imagine feeling any different. But then came the Abramovich revolution that sparked a culture clash of epic proportions between clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City, with their billionaire spend-spend-spend foreign owners, and clubs like Arsenal, with their old-school family run ownership and old-school ‘hit the budget, make-a-profit’ economic philosophy.
Wenger disposed of the 2004 Invincibles team with astonishing speed, replacing them with a load of brilliant but inexperienced kids. They were smaller, leaner, faster but, to my eyes, lacked the toughness required to win competitions in this new, money-no-object world. We stopped winning trophies. In our nadir, we were thumped 3-0 at Manchester City and I rewrote this column late that night, fuelled by a few consolation pints of Harveys real ale, suggesting it was maybe time Wenger was replaced.
Le Boss ignored my treacherous demand (I still shudder at what I did) and persisted in his strategy, insisting these kids would come good. And do so in a way that didn’t bankrupt Arsenal in the process.
In the past two weeks, we’ve walloped Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1, destroyed the oil-backed Manchester City 3-0 at their ground (nearly two years since that earlier drubbing) and demolished Newcastle 4-0 away in the Carling Cup. Yesterday we beat West Ham 1-0 to keep our title hopes alive.
And after all the doubting, cursing and berating, it looks like Arsene’s boys have come good. The great man has even started smiling again. I hope we win something big this season. Not just so that Wenger can prove everyone who questioned him wrong. But because it would be such a wonderful victory for football. It would show that you can’t just buy trophies and prove that a man who has a long-term dream, and backs himself to achieve it however rough the criticism, can realise it against apparently insurmountable odds. Can anyone, hand on heart, deny that Wenger’s determination to always, ALWAYS play football in the most beautiful, skilful, sublimely enjoyable way does not deserve it?
I said at the beginning, many fans have at some stage called for the head of our manager but who is there in the world of football managers could really come in and take this club further? Who is there that could keep us playing football with such grace and finesse the way we do most weeks? Who is there that could have kept our club in such great shape with the banks yet secure us playing in the Champions League year in year out?
Maybe Piers Morgan is right, around us we are seeing clubs struggle and clubs we are not used to seeing that way. Liverpool sit in the relegation zone as I write and Manchester United are starting to show cracks. They will soon see the likes of Neville, Scholes and Giggs depart and to replace them will cost mega bucks. They are not exactly debt free are they?
We have had our tough times and they were bloody hard to watch but maybe our time has finally come and we’ll be watching the others go through what we had to endure. Who knows but we are certainly heading in the right direction…
To end, I’ll leave with Piers Morgans final word in his article. Many fans will agree with him but I’m sure a few will still disagree….
So, as I take my final bow from this column, I say this on behalf of all Arsenal fans: Vive La Wenger!
Morning all….
Morning Rico,
Nice write up! Would definitely miss Piers Morgan weekend write ups.
Beer
hi bsnb, thank you and good to see you 🙂
I love his articles, his last was quite funny…..
Morning rico, his last one was one of his best.
But he said he might write something from to time.
Has the late win hangover past.
Good thing we play on Wednesday the boys will have some time to settle I presume they will travel tomorrow.
Morning Stef,
Any win does me sometimes 😉
Not sure when the squad travels, good time to rest a few I think, no need to risk Cesc and AA should be left at home imho…
I don’t think AW will even rest ’em cause it is an important game, but I hope he does we need em more in PL.
Howdy folks nice post
We only need a point though Stef, Cesc has a dodgy hammy so i hope he doesn’t travel…
Howdy to you too Erick, just found you in the spam folder 🙁 don’t know why….
It’s a quiet old day here today…..
Hi Ricodeemus, 🙂
Just heard from a friend, who is polish, and now from Young Guns, that Chezzer is cutting up rough over his contract extension.
Just when we were all feeling pleasantly relaxed after Saturday!
Hi RA, that is not good news, Wenger needs to sort this one out….
Oliver,
When you come on the site; it looks like we might get our wish tonight if the ‘Frisco giants win their 4th game tonight. Well done Huff and Buster Posey.
I had not previously heard of their pitcher Bumgarner, but he certainly shut down the Rangers
morning all…i am starting to think that perhaps we should not risk cesc’s hamstring in donetsk on wednesday. long trip, difficult atmosphere. jack will be back, perhaps go with him.
morning oliver, i certainly wouldn’t risk him…. we are getting used to playing without him every now and again, jack, tomas or nasri can play there…
nor would i. we have a difficult november and december coming up and cannot afford to lose him to the hamstring again. i think our side can do the job without cesc on wednesday.
Rico,
I don’t think it is going to be easy to sort out the Chezzer situation.
Money obviously comes into it, but Chezzer will not want to be shunted back down to No.4 when Almunia recovers and Mannone returns from loan.
AW will have to make some hard choices, and soon!
The odd thing about Cesc’s performance on Saturday, was that he did not play well by his own standards, and admitted so in the post match interview.
He claimed that his hammy was hurting in the 1st half, but felt better in the second! Que?
On the other habd Van the Fart, went off with a hammy, but says he is fit for their CL match this Tuesday.
What is it with hamstrings? They used to be a 4 week recovery injury.
Al has to go RA…..
morning ra…i don’t think szczesny will lose his place. he is now the deputy, and i feel al and mannone no longer have futures at arsenal. we’ll see what happens with szczesny’s contract situation. if he is impatient and not willing to wait for his chance – remember he is now in the first team squad – then i hope arsene does what is best for the team. and that may not necessarily be giving into a player’s impatience and demands.
that said, who knows what is really going on? maybe a lot of this is just posturing…
RA, its only afc players who’s hammy becomes 4-6 weeks 😉
i think the comments are suggested to have come from szczesny oliver, but like you say, who really knows….
well, hopefully it’s not him. he is getting his chance now. we do not need another lassana diarra here.
http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/454908824?-19387
have a peep at the attached oliver…
we certainly cannot afford to let him go and rely on mannone and al…..
i saw. i would not necessarily take that as gospel, nor that he is completely closed to re-signing. but if he thinks should just be given the number one jersey because he is wojciech szczesny, then see ya. i always thought arsene did well not giving in to that spoiled brat diarra. i do not want to think that szczesny is similar to diarra, but we’ll see how this plays out…
szczesny is getting his chance, by the way. he is now part of the first team squad, with al or mannone in no position to displace him. he is not the only goalkeeper here, and dropping fabianski – in the form he currently is – for szczesny serves only the latter’s interests. he’ll get the number one jersey soon enough, he just needs to do it the right way. by working hard, impressing in each opportunity he gets, and pushing the current incumbent.
while i agree we cannot necessarily let the outstanding goalkeeper prospect szczesny go, if he turns out to be a me-first prima donna who is not willing to wait for his opporunity, we don’t need him.
i couldn’t agree more oliver, no player is ever bigger than arsenal, certainly not an unproved 20 year old, no matter how good he may be…
my own thought is he will wait and see what happens if Almunia becomes fit again… I really hope Al doesn’t just walk back in, certainly not as number one as Fabianski in head and shoulders above him right now…
rico, i think al is finished at arsenal. based on how this season has unfolded, i think arsene’s summer goalkeeper moves (schwarzer, reina) were to replace al, not fabianski. i also think that arsene has been waiting for a pretext to drop al – west brom gave him the reason, and al will no longer be part of the first team when he returns.
szczesny needs to be patient. he has jumped two places ahead of al and mannone, he will get the opportunity to move ahead of fabianski at some point. he should concentrate on making sure he stays in the first team squad, and then becoming our number one.
hope you are right about Al oliver, its funny though isn’t it, most were calling for the heads of both Al and Fabianski in the summer, I guess the difference now is Fab can only get better with age now where as Al is too old 😉
I’m not convinced re manonne anymore though, not after his under 21’s performance for italy….
as i say, i think chesney will wait to see what wenger does about Al, hopefully he’ll get it right….
Rumour is Jack has signed his new contract 🙂
fabianski is finally taking his chance, he looks nothing like the miserable wreck we saw last season. he is showing everything we have been missing in our keepers since jens. a word of caution – we still have to see how he reacts to a bad mistake. i am just hoping his solid recent form has convinced him that he can overcome any mistakes. all keepers make them, it is those who immediately forget the mistakes who excel. hopefully fab will do that when the mistake inevitably comes.
rico, Piers has always been able to make me laugh. He’s opinions sometimes veer to the insane, but his support for AFC has been unwavering. 🙂
Hola, oliver. Howdy?
oliver, i am not totally convinced by fabianski yet, if we get to the end of the season and aren’t looking back on how many of his gafts lost us points, then i’ll believe in him… but yes, how he reacts to any future gaff will be the sign of how far he has come, or not……
hiya agag…
i don’t think that many of us think that fab has arrived, but we cannot argue he has been in fine recent form. we will just have to hope he does not fall apart when the mistakes do arrive.
Shame about Chesney, if the rumors are true. 🙁 He is young, has much to learn, and is in no position to be making demands. What is it with AW’s young charges? Doesn’t he know? No player has left our club and flourished in what they thought would be greener pastures…
Howdy all.just wanted to put it out there:we have kept 3 cleansheets without jack…now i’ll leave quietly…
hi k. let’s sell him then. we don’t need the likes of him around, do we?
Hi oliver.that is the same argument that diaby bashers use but as we all know jack would’ve been more effective against w.ham especially when fab4 is not at his best .Song is doing exactly what gatusso did for CL winning milan teams.he harried players high up the pitch with pirlo(jack/den) sweeping in behind.if all the midfielders have awareness of each other for it to work and by the time we reach january am sure we’ll have perfected it.alonso at madrid is playing behind khedira and germany shweinsteiger plays behind khedira in a similar format.the deepest midfielder alonso/den/jack/pirlo are very good passers of the ball allowing quicker transitions from defense to attack in the flash of a second.
I don’t know if it was mentioned here yesterday as i was MIA but that was clichy’s first assist at the Emirates since jan 08 against west ham.
Boo agag, how you doing – agree re Mr Morgan 🙂
Hi K-TR7, we may keep clean sheets without him, but we score more with him 😆
but i was using it in a sarcastic fashion…my apologies if you could not tell…
Nani’s goal at Old trafford was a very weird one.the mancs may as well buy two open topped buses when celebrating trophies:one for players and staff while the other for refs.for a minute i thought rio was the fourth official in an Aon shirt as all tiny totts players were waved away but he remained there.he isn’t even their captain FFS!!!
Clichy was great, KT. The match commentator mentioned that about Clichy. Not particularly prolific, is he?? I don’t hate Diaby… But for someone said to be so abundantly talented, I just don’t see him becoming one of our greats.
rico, the tabloids are that much less red without Piers Morgan. Every other ex-player who fancies himself a writer (ick) have it in for us. Sigh.
oliver 🙂
oliver, we knew 😆
agag, they will be, he tells it as it is and thats what i like about him – someone may pay him but they certainly don’t dictate what he writes about, its from his heart…
i’m not going to mention diaby, i have done him to death 😆
AFC.com have confirmed Jack has signed a new long term contract 🙂
We’ll see more of him on TV, then. 🙂 Slooow news day. Weather’s all dark and dreary here. I don’t like it. I like my sunshine.
And I agree about Diaby. 🙂
agag, slow news?? have you missed the breaking news 😆 😆
While we all knew that Jack would, that’s still really, really great news. 🙂
I’m no great tactician but when mancity were down against wolves Mancini took off ade for a defender in zabaleta.i mean, what the hell??…
KT, that’s because he had a spat with Kompany i bet…
All is not happy in the manc camp…
KT, are you still able to do the post for wednesday?
I was sooooo expecting that, rico. Glad the contract extension was concluded without fuss though. I think we raised him well, Little Jack. 😛 I’m glad he’s no Shrek.
KT, maybe Mancini was sloshed on pre-Haloween drinks. 🙂
Afternoon all.
As per Ade not in good Kompany, it aint no surprise. You cannot buy team-spirit.
good nes as per Jackie-boy,an Arsenal legend in the making methinks. Chesney needs to be patient and I think Wenger needs to take him out for some fish and chips and a chat to reasure him that its him and Fabianksi cos Aluminium is no longer in the frame! 😉
Umm, excuse me, ma petite choux, Rico, (in English that’s “my little cabbage” doesn’t quite sound right does it? 🙂 ), but have you had your ‘flu jab yet?
If not, why not? 🙂
agag, just need the pole to follow suit now, i’m sure he will too 🙂
Het T-buzz, serves Lardy right too… I love seeing them in the paps for stuff like that and not us 🙂
RA, no, not yet 😳
Rico you’ll get it by tomorrow afternoon.i’ve been really impressed with koscielny.he is like a cesc in defense.he reads the game so well.at one point we were caught out with piquionne leading a counter.kozzer didn’t dive in to show ‘grit’.he shepharded piquionne until fabianski was able to claim the ball.he also repeated the trick in the second half but this time he stole the ball so cleanly that i just said ‘wow’…his skill and technique on the ball is also very good for a CB.
Confidence does wonders especially to a gk.at one point in the game when w.ham had a setpiece fabianski instructed fab4 on where to stay but cesc ignored.fab4 dragged him to that position and guess what?…fab4 headed the ball away.
Did anyone else here the comment over the week-end that RVP had played less than half of the games he could have played, thru injury over the last 6 years?
Extraordinary. AW should cut his wages in half! 🙂
KT, i have been impressed with both of the CH signings and JD on his comeback, finally we are keeping clean sheets, that has to be something to do with them. To be fair on them too, not much gets past them to really test Fabianski too often.
Look at Newcastle, they had to resort to long distance shots as they couldn’t find a way through.. and what pleases me is that JD was in defence that night and Chesney in goal….
I did see that RA, he is a luxury player now, he certainly cannot be relied on any longer…. he needs to quit international football, then he might start earning his wages….
Thanks KT,
I think cesc isn’t used to having someone in goal who knows what he doing…. 😉
Hi guys.
Will only be here for 10minutes.
I like the article it was well said , we all feel the same as Patt.
At one time i thought Wenger was going crazy but i knew that even with the stubbornness, there is no one that could do the Arsenal job better than him.
Chesney : if he leaves he will join list of former Gunners that made a career killing mistake of thinking they are better than the position they find themselves at the moment.
For example. Hleb playing for Birmingham (on loan)
Sol Cambell worming the Toon bench
Pires missing a legendary status by going to Vilareal too soon now playing for non league club-dont know the name of the club.
Edu disapppearing from football.
Ashley Cole only finding happiness in football – cant go shopping any where without being cursed.
Bentley doing nothing in Totenham Hutpurs apart from sporting the best jelled hair.
Ade totally lost in Man city- Nearly went to blows with his own team player on saturday(frustration despite the money)
Just to mention a few.
Well Chesney can go if he think he is too good as number 2 , we will just wait and see.
k and t, mancini is in a job that is too big for him. never thought i would characterize man city as such, but their massive outlay on players brings similar expectations.
i, too, would love robin to quit the netherlands, but that is not for me to decide. i imagine that he dreamt of lifting the world cup with his national side, and so it would be a very difficult and emotional decision to make. the other side of the argument, however, is that concentrating solely on club football may just be what his body needs, and may lead to a sustained run in our side.
SD, you forgot Flamini. 😛
Yes, Falmini – what is he doing now?
Diara – he is never going to get a first team shirt under Jose no matter how good he becomes. He was very talented and i think he just irritated Wenger with his demands
Id also like to praise song.to comeback in that manner after being boo-ed by his own fans at craven cottage a few years ago shows plenty of character.its no surprise that he is used to difficulties as he has 27 brothers and sisters.
Rico,
I am a bit miffed, all that coverage of Jack signing a new contract and no one mentioned that I had signed one. 🙁
AA had probably the best 15 minutes of play i’ve seen in a long time against w.ham till his fitness let him down.Song’s improvement is having a counter-effect on our wing forwards in AA and nasri/theo.with song being able to do the terrier job it is allowing cesc to drop deeper to dictate play when he is tightly marked;this in turn allowed nasri and AA to take turns in playing the no.10 role as we saw AA in the first 15 minutes against w.ham with nasri doing it later on.this will bamboozle opponents on who to mark.when we perfect it we’ll have a dynamic front six that will be difficult to defend against but also difficult to break down.
congrats on your new contract ra…btw, what do you think of the series so far? it may be over tonight. for me, it simply comes down to the sf giants pitching being too good for texas. pitching and defense win championships, and the giants have excelled at those aspects in this series.
rangers turn to cliff lee to stay alive. but they have to beat lincicum tonight to do so. i expect lee to be tough to hit tonight, but i think the giants have a good chance to finish the job tonight. if not, they have two more games at home to do so – with cain – who has been absolutely unhittable – starting game six, if necessary.
Hi SD, thank you 🙂
Flamini is in hospital, he’s having splinters removed from his bum 🙂
Did you mention it here RA … ? 😉
Thank you Oliver, re my new contract. I bought a new cell phone (zero cost) with a really good contract for text/calls etc at competetive prices! 🙂
As I said at 12:27, I was really impressed with Huff and Posey. I am not being entirely fair to the Rangers as the only thing i have against them is that they beat my team, and the ‘frisco Giants were really a NY club. I never saw them play, of course, as they “emigrated” in 1954, I think, but my late uncle was a big fan.
I think the Giants should close it out tonight. (only highlights shown over here again).
No, Rico,
Just being flippant, as usual! 🙂
You little tinker RA, well done anyway 😆
Congrats RA on your new contract.
KT,
Thank you kind sir. 🙂
I bet Jack’s contract has a few hundred more noughts in it than what I am paying! 🙂
AA though needs to improve.completing 64% passes (18) in a team that dominates possession is criminal…
You mean you have to pay for your contract RA, thats not good 😉
That doesn’t make good reading KT, i can’t see him starting on wednesday, JET or Vela?
Yes I have to pay Rico. 🙂
I told them that I was friend of the famous proprietor of HH, and if they gave me a freebee, I would ask KT and Oliver to give them a “plug” in their distinguished match reports, but they said they ……….. No! 🙂
By the way, I forgot to warn you off from watching that McIntyre comedy show. He was good, but all the acts including my relative’s, was absolutely dire! 🙂
I reckon both JET and Vela will get at least part of a game on Wednesday.
I would rest cesc completely on wednesday with the run of games we have coming up.
I remember that RA, my sky didn’t record it, i was so cross but now you have said that maybe its not a bad thing… 😉 i didn’t want to mention it before…
Thats why you have to pay RA, you shouldn’t have mentioned HH 🙂
He is on again on Thursday in Never Mind the Buzzcocks at 10 p.m.
See if you can guess which one! 🙂
right i will set my sky+ 🙂
All done, BBC2….
Anyone see nani claim he is one of the best players in the world?…thats a cocky attitude right there.leo messi is probably the most talented player in this generation but he’ll never say that.he even tipped xavi/iniesta to win the ballon d’Or.cesc has tipped sneijder to win it despite being on that list…
KT, thats what we need though, a bit cockiness, a bit of attitude and don’t forget, he’s french 😉
did i miss agag go 🙁
Interesting……
Harry Redknapp claims he will not give immediate post-match TV interviews if the Football Association punish him for criticising referee Mark Clattenburg.
The governing body will decide on Tuesday if they are to take action over the Tottenham boss’ comments following Nani’s controversial goal at Old Trafford.
Redknapp branded it a ‘scandalous decision’ after referee Clattenburg allowed the Manchester United midfielder’s late effort to stand in Saturday’s 2-0 victory.
Rico,
Nani is Portuguese, or did I misunderstand KT’s comment? 🙂
RA, i am rubbish, i thought i read Nasri 😉
I should have realised, Nasri would never say that… 😮
Good ol’ ‘Arry,
He is obviously aping old Red Nose!
In fairness, if His Fergyness gets away with giving the Premier League the finger, why shouldn’t ‘Arry.
I could not be bothered to listen to his twitches anyway! 🙂
ra, i am not on a new contract, but my 2g iphone is almost done – i am going to have to upgrade here in a few more weeks.
did not see your original 12:27, but i note that you are rather impressed with buster posey. benjie molina is catching for texas because the sf giants were so impressed with rookie posey’s development, molina became surplus to requirements.
i think sf will close it out tonight. they moved from ny in 1958, and if they win one of these last three games, this will be their first world title in san fran. in 1989, the will clark/matt williams giants were swept by near neighbors oakland in the the earthquake series. in 2002, barry bonds’ giants were six outs from winning the world series, but lost in seven games to anaheim. third time lucky?
it will not be easy – i fully expect cliff lee to bounce back from a poor game one outing with a strong effort. and the rangers know tonight is their last stand – win or go home. but the giants have their ace (lincecum) going, so it won’t be easy for texas either.
even if texas wins tonight, the challenge is still daunting. they return to san francisco – where they are 0-11 all-time at pac bell park for the final two games. in game six, they have to face matt cain, who has been absolutely unhittable in post-season.
if the giants do not take care of business, and it comes down to a seventh and deciding game, manager bruce bochy has a bit of a dilemma. his third starter, jonathan sanchez, has been poor all post-season. he lost game 3, 4-2 in arlington, and he slated to start game seven if necessary. does boch stick with him, or move bumgarner – so impressive last night – up, and send the rookie out for game seven, to win the world series, on short rest? i don’t think it will come to that, and the giants will take no more than six games to end this, but if it does, boch has to decide what to do.
ron washington has his rotation set – lee tonight, cj wilson in game six, and colby lewis (impressive in texas’ game three win) for game seven, if they get that far.
i also had a chuckle when i saw tax-dodger’s comments. following the red nose model, are we? makes him look like a sulking baby – just like his role model there…
Oliver,
You can never ignore Cliff Lee, of course. I still think the SF Giants have enough in the locker to do it tho’.
It is annoying that i can’t see the games live, for one reason or another, but as I said, Bumgarner impressed me a lot for a rookie.
I don’t believe it will come down to game 7, but I think, if it did, the Rangers would be advised to move him up and forget sanchez.
By the way, your 2g is rubbish! 🙂 The 4G is excellent, even with a somewhat suspect reception, (at least in the UK). I still like it tho’.
I was on the verge of buying the 3G when I was in Hawaii, for 3 months last year, but it’s just as well I hesitated, as i love the 4G. 🙂
Oliver, re ‘Arry ….. 🙂
Vdv will be against sneijder to show who is boss (not that we don’t know who is)…CR9 has 13 goals and 5 assists in 13 games…messi has 14 goals in 12 games…those 2 players are on a whole new level.
And they are both in a two team league in Spain, KT. 🙂
Your stats are again excellent.
Tomorrow!
i am rather annoyed with apple because they terminated support for 2g when they launched the 4g. i would have to jailbreak it to get os4 on it – and as old as the phone is, i don’t want to do that. i got the 2g on my xx birthday, and it has lasted almost three full years, so i shouldn’t complain. monthly unlimited data plan for 2g is $10 less than 3g/4g, which is $120 less per year, and why i am trying to squeeze the last out of the 2g. but the battery can barely hold a charge, and i can only talk for a few minutes at a time on it, so it’s time to upgrade. i have several friends with the 4g and have played around with it a few times. that is what i’ll get when i can go not farther with the 2g.
i expect cliff lee will be a yankee next year. he is going to be the top free agent on the market this winter, and will command a salary very few teams will be able to afford. lee and cc sabathia were the backbone of a fine pitching rotation in cleveland a few years back, and i am sure cc will be lobbying cash and girardi to go get lee.
Did you know it cost Man Utd 80K a season in fines because he doesn’t speak to the BBC?
tiny totts will get battered tonight 🙂
I’m off you fine folk, enjoy your evening and stay safe
nighty night all 🙂
spuddies are playing tonight, rico?
They play on Tuesday Oliver.
Did you know, “Oliver” was the second most popular name for boys in the UK last year, only beaten by “Mohammed”.
Changing times, I suppose.
You will love the 4G, Oliver. 🙂
I am keeping my fingers crossed that Cliff Lee joins a fine team!
Nite for now. 🙂
good luck ra. so oliver is a popular name in the uk? rather interesting.
ra, if you should log on early am and come back to this page, brian wilson just got the final out for san francisco. won tonight 3-1, and won the world series four games to one. tim lincecum was absolutely spectacular: eight innings, three hits, one run, two walks and ten strikeouts. i am confident he will be named series mvp. cliff lee was almost as good, six shutout innings until it unraveled in the seventh. brian (he of the black beard) wilson got the final three outs. 0.00 earned run average for the giants closer during post-season, pretty sick! i am happy for the sf giants, they win their first world series title since they were in ny.
