£4 Million offer made for striker! Juve don't want Robin, Cazorla & van Persie in Germany & The Arsenal changing room is buzzing…. So says Ray Parlour…..

Morning Gooners,

Talksport, everyone’s favourite radio station when it comes to Arsenal!! Not.

But despite the rubbish they so often spout, yesterday Ray Parlour was on there so I’m told (Allezkev) and he said the changing rooms are buzzing with anticipation since the new boys arrived, especially Santi Cazorla. Sahin signing is still in the pipeline of course and Arsene Wenger isn’t stopping there, he’s looking at bringing in a few more before the transfer window closes.

Makes you feel like a kid again doesn’t it on the last day of the term when you know six weeks of summer holiday’s are just around the corner….

Reports suggest that Santi Cazorla has travelled to Germany to join up with the squad after Malaga gave their permission, in the meantime they will sort themselves out and finalise this deal.  One which the BBC report will be confirmed today!

Robin is there too as are two or our youngsters, Nico Yennaris and Serge Gnabry. Talking of Robin, Juventus don’t want to sign him it seems, they are now targeting Liverpool’s Suarez!

Nicklas Bendtner and Sebastian Squillaci are not in the travelling squad which is good, hopefully they will both be soon long gone..

Aaron Ramsey hasn’t travelled either, he’s been given some time off to recover from his involvement in Olympic football tournament, maybe he’ll get his voice back too, the one that couldn’t be bothered to sing GB’s National Anthem!!

Can’t seem to find out for sure if Andrey Arshavin has travelled but apparently we have received a £4 million offer from Galatasary for him. Whether that will prove to be enough to tempt our club to sell him or not though is another matter and of course the player may not wish to join the Turkish side.

Maybe it’s a ‘you can have Arshavin as long as we can have Sahin’ ? 😉

I started with Romford’s own Pele, so I’ll end with him too.

Ray Parlour will make a sensational return to the FA Cup this weekend – five years after retiring. The Arsenal legend Parlour, 39, who has won the famous trophy four times and scored in the 2002 final, will join a group of former players for non-League Wembley’s FA Cup campaign.

Ex-England stars Martin Keown, 46, David Seaman, 48, and Graeme Le Saux, 43, plus ex-Argentina World Cup striker Claudio Caniggia, 45, and former US forward Brian McBride, 40, will also turn out – with former England boss Terry Venables in the dug-out.

All sounds like fun doesn’t it?

That’s it for today, a day that should see us finally announce the signing of Santi Cazorla and I wouldn’t bet against Sahin being confirmed either, there has to be a reason afc.com are keeping the travelling squad details quiet…

Don’t know about the dressing rooms buzzing, but I think we Arsenal fans are too…..

Have a good day all…..

Morning all. Seems that we are forever on the cusp of a new era. But, an eternal optimist, I say…good.
The Usmanov statement/ interview is interesting for conspiracy theorists.

  2. rico says:

    Morning Adam and all…

Thought I’d steer clear from AU today 🙂

I’m very optimistic right now, seems we really could be in for a good transfer window at last…

  3. rico says:

They seem to be heading that way Hg….

Tyrell, i know you are jesting really aren’t you…. aren’t you?

  4. rico says:

AndayT, VdW is linked but we have Yennaris too, don’t think Sagna is that far off, he was dancing well enough in Africa 😉

  5. rico says:

Annoyingly I have to go out for a while, have a good day all and catch up in a a couple of hours….

  6. Arjen says:

It was disrespectful that only the ENGLISH national anthem was played yet the Welsh players dint complain, don’t call out Ramsey for not singing another country’s national anthem.

  7. Adam says:

I share your sense of optimism Rico but it will probably pale as the day progresses and I get to grips with my garden erection. I am hoping Lee can stop by in his whistle and lend a hand.

  8. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Morning all.
I wouldn’t make much of “not” singing the national anthem. I wouldn’t sing it either, and I’m English … born in the rolling green dales of Mexborough – not.
“God save our gracious Queen….” Luzhny-faced-parasites….
“Abide with me” would have been much better.

  9. rockyrocastle07 says:

    Morning all

Why do people think God Save the Queen is an English anthem?! It’s clearly not!!

  10. rockyrocastle07 says:

The fact it’s been adopted by the English before matches etc doesn’t make it the English anthem

  11. Canadian Gooner says:

    I can’t speak for the Welsh, but the Scots on the GB’s womens football team are probably well aware of the rarely sung fifth verse of God Save The King/Queen as follows;

    Lord, grant that Marshal Wade,
    May by thy mighty aid,
    Victory bring.
    May he sedition hush,
    and like a torrent rush,
    Rebellious Scots to crush,
    God save the King.

I may be time for Great Britain to have an anthem of it’s own and England can retain God Save The King/Queen.

  12. John Grondona says:

Adam, The National Anthem is British, that is why the players representing Team GB should have sung. It was shameful. If they did not wish to support Team Gb, and be proud to do so, they should not have been selected.

  13. rockyrocastle07 says:

I’d be more than happy with either Jerusalem or Land of Hope and Glory (can’t remember which we use at the Commonwealth Games, but it’s not GSTQ)

  14. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Hiya Rocky..
I watched the box set of “Ain’t half hot mum” a few months ago … “Land of Hope & Glory” – a classic

  15. Adam says:

JG. I haven’t mentioned the anthem except to say the I saw that excellent chap John Redwood sing it. I think you have the wrong man.

  16. rockyrocastle07 says:

Hi mate. Can’t beat a bit of Aint half hot mum!!

Also, Canadian Gooner… You’d be hard pressed to find anyone that actually knew there was one verse of God ave The Queen! On the rare occasions that another verse is played before a match, you can always hear the fans just singing the first verse again!

  17. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya Matty. The Daily Mail chucks a lot of stuff at the walls to see what sticks … Rico might tell you which one of us said that yesterday ….

Arsenal can offer Champions League football. Liverpool can offer very little … they certainly won’t win anything this year.

Maybe Wenger sees Sahin as our “missing link”

  18. rockyrocastle07 says:

Adam, watching that twat Redwood just opening and closing his mouth around when the anthem was played was embarrassing!

  19. rockyrocastle07 says:

But either way… you would have liked them to have sung, but how many players for England sing it? Hell, I don’t even sing it, so I’m not going to go on some patriotic rant!

  20. southyorkshiregunner says:

.. Mourinho hates Wenger … Wenger hates Mourinho, however this is supposedly a professional game …. They certainly respect each other … and post-Chelsea, Jose Mourinho gets on extremely well with David Dein

  21. Canadian Gooner says:

    Matty,

Interesting link about Sahin to ‘Pool. Rodgers may be a good coach/manager, but he’s going to have hands full getting his team back on track. A difficult job for a new manager and especiallyfor one’s first time in the premiership. Where as Arsene has a long proven record of developing and getting the best out of young players. However, only time will tell.

  22. potter says:

Far too many things to worry about than a few pedants getting upset about the British national anthem . When we finally get the whole political split with various parliaments we will be able to use G.S.T.Q as Britains and something else for England.

  23. rockyrocastle07 says:

I know Romford. Clearly trying to do work and reading web pages at the same time don’t work out too well for me. Guess I’ll have to slow down wit h the actual work!

  24. Adam says:

I think you seriously overestimate Mourinho there SYG. And I can’t see what DD has to do with it. If Mourinho could f..k Wenger in any way, he would do it. Professionalism comes way down the list. Pettiness is his stock in trade. When he accused Wenger of being a voyeur a lot went on behind the scenes that left a legacy of bitterness.

  25. rockyrocastle07 says:

Mourinho is a grade A c** in that respect Adam. You’re right, Professionalism, common courtesy, humility….. All lost on that man.

  26. southyorkshiregunner says:

Interesting piece in the Guardian …

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/07/alex-song-arsene-wenger-arsenal?

Some things happen in football Adam because of the passion in the game. Take that away and football would be as boring as Rugby or Cricket. Football makes people do extraordinary things that they wouldn’t normally do…. Scream, shout, cry, argue, smile, laugh ….

At the moment Arsenal are making all their fans happy ….. well most of them …

  27. Adam says:

Lee. I wondered where you got to. No mate. It’s a dos hombres job and Rico let me down badly this morning by not showing up. Rocky has blown me out too. I will have to wait for a sucker with a few spare hours to appear.

  28. Adam says:

I agree SYG. When I eventually come up Sheffield way for a bowl of my favorite tripe I have some interesting Mourinho stuff to tell you, off the record.

  29. rockyrocastle07 says:

Ahhhh…. the big erection Rico was mentioning… I thought she was just talking about Chamakh.

  30. Adam says:

SYG says it’s not bad so I am heading North so he can take me to a restaurant that does really good tripe to see if he’s right.

  31. boomergooner1727 says:

    morning all!

exciting morning indeed. cazorla is up on the site without a sign of sahin but complaining at this point would be indecent. also looking forward to seeing more of gnarby, from the few highlights i’ve seen and word from fans he is another great talent.

what’s the latest on m’vila is the spuds link true? thought he wanted cl…

  32. rockyrocastle07 says:

Maybe you should try hitting Arshavin’s arse with a banjo Lee. Success every time surely. Impossible to miss.

  33. rockyrocastle07 says:

Morning Boomer. Things are finally looking up eh? To be honest, I really don’t care about M’Villa anymore. Never seen this Capoue kid either so no idea if he’d be any good here either. Wonder if Xabi Alonso can be tempted away from Real?! Worth a cheeky bid surely!

  34. rockyrocastle07 says:

Adam. It surely can’t be. I think old’uns still eat it! Along with chicken in a can, packed in aspic! Mmmmmm, what a treat! I’d rather it be packed in arsenic if I had to eat that garbage!

  35. Adam says:

There’s a great bit on the TalkShite web page. They confirm the Cazorla signing and then there’s a piece saying Spurs are considering signing him as a replacement for Rodent Man.

  36. southyorkshiregunner says:

Rocky … Alonso and Arteta grew up on the same street in San Sebastian … It was Arteta that told him how good Liverpool was to live …

  37. charybdis1966 says:

Just a query, why should what Galatasary offer for AA have any bearing on whether we get Sahin ? He’s a Madrid player, so what’s the connection ?

  38. Adam says:

I am still chuckling at your 10.50 SYG. Sometimes the short posts are the best. They say that Yorkshiremen come right to the point. 🙂

  39. rockyrocastle07 says:

The artists impression is wrong though Adam…. Ok, it shows him as a really smug prick. But surely what he meant to draw was a huge steaming turd.

  40. southyorkshiregunner says:

My 2yo grandson’s first football shirt was an Arsenal shirt – with Rocky on the back …. That my friend is totally true.

  41. Adam says:

Rocky. FFS don’t start that shit again. 🙂
Rico will give you a virtual spanking when she gets back. And Alan will have something to say too.

  42. rockyrocastle07 says:

Sorry! I was going to asterisk the word out, as I feel it should now be given the same treatment as the “C” word!

  43. rockyrocastle07 says:

I love the total disregard for lane discipline Lee! I take it everyone saw that German bloke Feck’s dive at the olympics?!

  44. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

I’ve pretty much just jizzed everywhere. I’ve not been so excited since we signed Na$ri.

I hate to think what i’ll do if we sign M’Vila :p

  45. allezkev says:

    A very Good Morning AKB’s
    Where the devil is Stanley?
Has he passed with all the excitement?
Or has he run out of clean undergarments???

    The mind boggles….

Good luck getting it up Adam…

  46. ktr7 says:

Good read.for those that have actually seen Cazorla play in a match and not on youtube will appreciate just how good a player he is.he makes the team play better sort of like Hleb but even better.for me his strongest attribute is on pitch intelligence.his movement is devastating and if he plays no.10 role i expect him to step it up a notch.

  47. rockyrocastle07 says:

KT… In my opinion, if he plays like Hleb, then we’ve just bought a turkey! I hope he’s closer to Silva than Pleb!

  48. Tlailaxu says:

LEe…re: 11.04, how painful that was,the guy was limping in the end…he even tried slipstreaming behind some1’s back at some point…=DDD

Btw…yes me is a happy chappy today, this is like the most exciting TW ever since I’m supporting Arsenal…I wish we could get Capoue, but even so I’m really happy and optimistic about coming season…=)…

    Oh and good morning all…LOL…=D

  49. rockyrocastle07 says:

It is nice to hear. Although you feel that Cesc and Pires are 2 players that would never slag us off.

  50. ktr7 says:

Rocky i’ve not said he plays like hleb in terms of playing style;he is more of a Silva/iniesta kind of attacker.what i meant re:hleb is that the team will play much better with him in it.he makes players around him better.just remember how Cesc loved playing with hleb,am sure players like Rvp/Arteta/theo will love playing with him.

  51. Canadian Gooner says:

Well the official conformation of Cazorla’s signing helps ease the pain of our (Canada’s) women’s team losing a seven goal thriller to our arch-nemesis the Excited States of America, thanks in NO small part to some very questionable calls and inconsistent actions of the Norwegian referee.

However, I am very optimistic about the new season and am looking forward to Arsenal’s first game. Hopefully it is not an early kick-off (4:45 a.m. my time), as I am a night owl.

  52. southyorkshiregunner says:

Ashley Cole as his “critics” and I can understand why, but he is amongst the best five left backs in World Football.
    Zirkhov, Coentrao, Evra, Abidal???
Cole would probably been captain of the club now, and looking back at when were were running away with the league in 2008, his presence in the team would have probably won us the title.. Who knows?
Maybe Kieran Gibbs will emulate him? I hop so.
Arsenal have always had the best left-backs in English football.

  53. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

You’re right KT. Cazorla and Sahin (hopefully) will make it easier for the rest next season. Hopefully we should be able to play a few more penetrating balls behind defences which the forward line should thrive on.

  54. rockyrocastle07 says:

Hi KT. I know… I never understood why they loved playing with him! He was tricky but had no end product and got knocked off the ball too easily. Basically, the blueprint for most Arsenal wingers! From what I’ve heard about this new boy though (and I readily admit I’d never heard of him antil about 2 weeks ago) we will benefit massively from him being in the team.

Canadian Gooner – I was very disappointed with the loss yesterday. I’m a big fan of Canada. Where abouts in Canada are you?

  55. Canadian Gooner says:

    SYG,

“Maybe Kieran Gibbs will emulate him? I hop so.” I trust you mean his on-field performances and not his character and and off-field antics.

  56. allezkev says:

Adam, I simply will not accept the light hearted assumption that you are deficient in the erectile department…

As for me, I can confidently admit that getting a pole up has not been a problem for me.
My garden fence resembles the Great Wall of China.

Rocky, it’s best we let supercilious comments pass.
Treat then with indiffence mio amigo.
Good to see you on the ball…. 🙂

  57. Canadian Gooner says:

    Rocky,

I live in Victoria on the west coast, so I am 8 hours behind GMT.

I met our three goal hero and captain Sinclair at a youth soccer dinner and was very impressed with how unassuming and approachable she was, a truly pleasant person.

  58. ktr7 says:

He is excellent rocky.i’ve watched Santi play for almost 4 years now.he is good, trust me.Last season in la liga despite suffering 86 fouls he was the only outfield player to start all 38 la liga games.

  59. ktr7 says:

Santi made 1037 passes in the final third alone;only Messi and Xavi had more.we seriously lacked such a player last season.

  60. allezkev says:

tsuJ had some terribly unhealthy, but delicious, cheese on toast.
Now i’m watching the world go by, supping my Rosie.
    Life is good.

Can’t wait for season to start and to hear/read all those mealy mouthed critics of AFC eating copious portions of humble pie.
Choke on it Stewart wanker Robson.

  61. Adam says:

Alba is a decent LB. A bit more than decent actually. Cole is still ok but, against real pace he is a shadow of the player he once was. Theo tears him a new one every time they meet these days. Philip Lahm too perhaps?

  62. rockyrocastle07 says:

Thing is Adam, I’ve never seen Ronaldo get the better of Cole. Never. And that is pretty good going

  63. Canadian Gooner says:

    Allezkev,

No I am not a lumberjack! However, I did work in the forest industry when I was younger and I do know how to use a chainsaw. Also, I like buttered scones, but I don’t drink tea (apologies to Monty Python).

  64. rockyrocastle07 says:

HI Canadian. Sorry only just seen your reply to me! She looks totally the opposite on the football pitch!

I’ve only been to Toronto for a week, but was thinking of heading over to Vancouver at some point. Even looked in to emigrating over there a few years back, but apparently there’s no call for people in finance jobs over there. Gutted!

  65. allezkev says:

Adam, when we enjoyed that very cordial afternoon in each others company, I could see you was a man who has all the right qualities, especially in the upwards dept.
You fence will, i’m sure, be a thing of beauty and Cleopatra Needle proportions.

Rocky, i’m just north of Kings X, and in a lazy mood…
    You busy mate?

  66. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Rico goes away and Arsenal announce Cazorla 😀 She needs to do this more often 😆

  67. rockyrocastle07 says:

Kind of…. Watching the triathlon at the moment, inbetween actually doing some work! I worked my derriere off yesterday so I’m celebrating by having a lazy day

  68. allezkev says:

That’s it Canadian, you’ll do for me. 😉

As long as you don’t, as the song goes,
Put on girlies clothing, and hang around in bars… 😀

  69. Adam says:

Kev. The erection I have in store is an 8×8 shed. Incidentally I tried your unique way of meeting attractive women by letting a fiver fall surreptitiously from my hip pocket when in a coffee shop. But it didn’t work for me either.

  70. allezkev says:

Persistence Adam. I’m gonna try a tenner next time.
The IPhone is fantastic. But i’ve done in my internet allowance already, so i’m slumming it on my old Samsung.

Gotta say, I like Canadian’s humour.
Another worthy member of our family methinks.

  71. Canadian Gooner says:

    Allezkev,

While I enjoy a good pint or two or ??? at the pub; NO I am not interested in girlies clothing unless there is an attractive woman in them or about to get out of them.

  72. allezkev says:

Sod it, gotta go back to work.
Adam, that shed sounds like an extension mate.
Rocky, next time we’re having a ruby in a restaurant, try it. 🙂
Canadian, keep a look out for those bears. 😀
    Lata Gooners

  73. boomergooner1727 says:

that’s so funny pele i was literally about post that link with similar sentiments. the dna knows no limits…

  74. Canadian Gooner says:

    SYG,

Thank you! After being serenaded by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police choir, I am of to bed before the sun comes up.

Good night all, or in most of your cases, have a good afternoon!

  75. bondex says:

good afternoon all …..phew so it wasn’t a dream after all….where are the creamers…..goonster where are you?

  76. ktr7 says:

Difficult to say Lee.they are different players.Cazorla is very versatile and truly ambidextrous unlike Mata.Mata too is a fine player and will get better.both are quality.

  77. rockyrocastle07 says:

I know it won’t happen, but I hope RvP now says to AW and the board that he wants to stay because we have signed a feww players. And AW and the boaed say “After your public outburst, thanks but no thanks. You’re on your way out of the club, son”. Really don’t care who he goes to. One amazing year. Time to move on.

  78. rockyrocastle07 says:

Afternoon Bondex. Goonster is currently overcome with a degree of exctement that no amount of loo roll could clear up!!

  79. rockyrocastle07 says:

Just seen that little fucknut Iniesta is banging on about wanting Song now! It truly has started again. When’s that massive bellend Carles Poohole going to come out and say something?

  80. allezkev says:

Wonder if Adam has the roof on his shed yet?

KT, what’s your thoughts on Sahin?
Do you think we’ll get him??

You know, I haven’t looked forward to a season as much as this one, since probably 2005-06…

Bring back that redcurrant shirt, say as 3rd change.
    I really liked that one.

  81. Lee says:

2 + 2 on a crap site saying that we won’t get him (Sahin) because him and Podolski had an altercation….

  82. ktr7 says:

Cazorla is what we need more in my opinion.for so long we’ve been signing early 20’s players who would cost us chances to win trophies but when they blossom they left.Santi has described us as the last train to catch since he is at his peak.the core of the team is now around 26-28 years which means they are all approaching their peak years just like the Invincibles in 03.Santi will grab the opportunity with both hands to move to the next level at a big club now.he has been overshadowed by the likes of Iniesta but now he has a chance to truly catapult his career and trust me he’ll take it.plus he is versatile and ambidextrous makes him perfectly versatile.

  83. allezkev says:

Why oh why, do we give those Barca wankers any airtime.
Who the fuck do they think they are?

Who gives a shit what they say or think?

And why doesn’t the club/Wenger come out and give them a public slagging?

Vermaelen and/or Koscielny should publicly discuss Barcalona players..???

Talk about how so and so would fit in with our team.
And then discuss who would not be able to cope with the EPL…
    A bit of mischief payback….

  84. ktr7 says:

Sahin is excellent AK.Madrid are ruining his career.im glad we are insisting on a buyout clause since he could easily shine here.if we get him i fully expect a title challenge.

  85. bondex says:

rro7 lol…….Lee,saw that too.just makes me wonder if they actually get paid for writing all that rubbish.

  86. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Hiya Lee.
The tabloids said the same re Van Persie and Vermalen – Ajax 0-1 Arsenal

  87. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

If we sign Sahin, our midfield is basically equal to that of all the other top clubs and like KT, i’d fully expect a title challenge.

  88. bondex says:

AK…better still KOSC/TV5 talk about, how one of their players have indicated that they are in Hell playing for Barcelona

  89. rockyrocastle07 says:

Good thanks wath. Things are looking really good eh?:! I’m glad AW has finally seen that we needed these types of players. As a few have said on here… I’m actually looking forward to the new season!

AK – What’s traffic like round my way today? Just seen loads of roads near Horseguards Parade are closed off…

  90. Lee says:

The Spanish economy is fucked, their clubs are massively fucked too we should be raiding them big-stylee!!

  91. southyorkshiregunner says:

Ruud Gullit used to voice his concerns as regards the unnecessary metres a midfielder covers during a game, when an early and precise pass could find a colleague in space much quicker, therefore not neglecting his own positional duties …
…He also stated it during the FA Cup Final Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle …
From what has been said, Sahin sound like that man..

  92. NashuaGunners says:

    Good Morning all.

@Kev, I was kindda disappointed yesterday with the Song thing at 2:29
I thought you got my back with the Song campaign. Btw, how is your day going?

  93. ktr7 says:

If we can sort out our defending and add Sahin and maybe 1 more signing we’ve got a real shot.our offence is enough to win the league as it stands.

  94. southyorkshiregunner says:

As Haircut 100 sang in the early 1980’s, Nash- its a Fantastic Day ….

… be even better if we could mug the inexperienced Tito Vilanova for £16M …

  95. Scott from Oz says:

    Evening guys.
I went to the races in a good mood.
Had no luck with Highbury Lad,then my bitch had a terrible fall in her race……fingers crossed she is ok.
Anyway…..I jump on the net and see Santi is ours,so the mood has definitely changed for the better.
We will be winning the treble this season,no bloody question!!
    Go you good things!!!!

  96. NashuaGunners says:

SYG, Song hair style comes with the full package. I would rather the footballing skills though. Maybe, just maybe you might get your wish if Barca are really serious to put pocket where their mouth is.

  97. southyorkshiregunner says:

Mine had a terrible fall the other year, Scott …
Three bottles of wine and a curry … they’re all over the place

  98. ktr7 says:

Mou once said when he joins a club he first ensures he has a reliable GK and a setpiece specialist.we’ve been quite poor at direct FKs.Cazorla curled 4 in la liga last season.he can curl them with either foot.against teams that continously foul us in the final 3rd he’ll be vital.he’ll make them think twice before committing those unnecessary fouls.

  99. Gunner-Mac says:

I said we were in for another “Groundhog summer” I’m sooooooo chuffed that Arsene /Ivan have proved me wrong!!

  100. southyorkshiregunner says:

Haircut 100 is a pop group from the early 1980’s, Nash. They sung “Fantastic Day”, “Nobody’s Fool” and “Favourite Shirts”…

Fantastic Day = Signing of Cazorla

Nowt up with Song’s hair ….

  101. Scott from Oz says:

I can laugh now SYG,but I thought she was dead when it happened.
    It wasn’t a nice feeling.
    Anyway,who is next?
Come Arsene, pick Spanish football to pieces.

  102. southyorkshiregunner says:

Trivia Scott. I think Alan Ball used to have a racehorse called “Gunner B” ……

  103. rico says:

Not sure I’d choose the sunset with those two Scott, maybe drop them outside a Charity Shop instead, then I’ll head off 😉 😉

  104. southyorkshiregunner says:

My dad backed it a few times… I knew it came second once, but that’s all I can remember. I was only about 8 or 9 at the time.

  105. rockyrocastle07 says:

Rico – Get them both in a car… put the car in drive, point it towards Beachy Head, stick a brick on the accelerator and jump out at the last minute.

  106. Scott from Oz says:

    SYG,this bitch can really run,but can’t draw a box.
Highbury Lad is big and dumb, but steadily improving.
I’m buying a pup in a few weeks,so a “name the dog” comp could be in order.

  107. NashuaGunners says:

No Rico, without you Heineken will lost its taste and values and mingle will be meaningless.

  108. rockyrocastle07 says:

Big and Dumb Scott…. Should have called him Adebayour…..

What pup are you getting? Won’t let my wife see this forum… She’s been breaking my balls for a dog for ages!

  109. W.A.T.H says:

SYG, you remember Star of Gunner back in the mid 80’s… won a few bob on that a few times decent horse…!

  110. rockyrocastle07 says:

Sorry, just seen you added “steadily improving”. Ade was garbage for us in the end so good job you didn’t name him that!

  111. southyorkshiregunner says:

Scott, I was part of a group who bought a pedigree racehorse whose grandfather or grandfather’s father was Nijinsky – really.
I sponsored it through the magazine I own and it was called natmsky.
Driving up the M1 Cornelius Lysaght on 909 reported it coming second in a race at Wolverhampton. I went to see it race a fortnight later at the same track and it came nowhere. It was retired a few months later …

  112. Scott from Oz says:

    Only greyhounds Rocky.
My best naming effort was having a black dog whose kennel name was Monty,so his racing name just had to be Panesar!

  113. Scott from Oz says:

I have the dogs as a hobby, but I do give them my best.
Rump steak is their main fare, and plenty of attention.
    It’s fun,and an outlet.
Box draws can make or break a dog,and I’m having plenty of luck with them atm,but it’s all BAD lol.

  114. rockyrocastle07 says:

    Haha! Nice Scott!

I have been looking into getting a retired greyhound, as apparently they are great dogs if you live in a flat.

  115. Scott from Oz says:

Rocky, they’re the best breed of dog in the world.
Most people think they wouldn’t make a good pet because of how athletic they are,but a 5 minute walk keeps them happy!
    Perfect pets.

  116. southyorkshiregunner says:

We’ve got a Rottweler and Alsation, none of which were ours. My daughter bought the Rottweiler and couldn’t cope with it and my mam died over in Spain (Malaga) and we ended up with her Alsation.
Rottweiler is called Jeffrey Obington-Smythe “Obi” and the Alsation “Jess” but I call her “Gimpy Rick” after our lasses mates ex-boyfriend who was called Rick

  117. Scott from Oz says:

    I’m off to bed guys.
Santi is in,so a great finish to a miserable day.
    Bring on round 1.
    Goodbye all.

  118. W.A.T.H says:

I think it won a big race at Doncaster one year they gave it out at half time on the tannoy and most of Highbury went mad… bookies must of got cleaned up as it won at 6-1…!

  119. southyorkshiregunner says:

The Alsation was the runt of the litter, I think.
The kid Rick – a total tosser.

The gimp thing is from the Sopranos; Christopher Motasante in acting class doing the “Gentleman Caller” – “He ain’t know gentleman caller, he’s a fucking gimp.”

  120. rockyrocastle07 says:

Night Scott. I’d heard that about greyhounds and they loved to sleep! May look into it more then!

Ahhh, SYG – Now you’re talking my language re Soprano’s! Me and the wife watch it from start to finish at least once a year

  121. southyorkshiregunner says:

Too true Lee and Rocky. A class programme.
I took series’ two, three and four over to the gym and watched them over a few days. I managed about 500km on the bike…

  122. rockyrocastle07 says:

Haha! I bet you did! As you slowly, over the series’, watch Tony getting fatter and fatter!

  123. Micko says:

    Afternoon all,
So its now official, Adam is a shedhead !
Never seen Cazorla even kick a ball so not sure why I’m so excited but i am.

  124. Lee says:

Micko, could Adam be Arthur Fowler? Didn’t he live in a shed? Probably the last time I watched eastenders……

  125. Micko says:

Scott, don’t know too much about dog racing but I’ve been told if they go for a dump on the track before the race you should back ’em as they run faster.

  126. rockyrocastle07 says:

SYG, I did the Soprano’s tour when in NYC a few years back, and it was amazing. Went to various places – like where Chris was shot by The Bevelaqua bloke, and ended up going to the Bing at the end (outside first, at the spot where Ralph kills his stripper girlfriend) before spending 35 mins inside the club! Was pretty surreal!

  127. southyorkshiregunner says:

I hope you took plenty of photos Rocky?
We have the table outside the gym like at Satriales, the only difference is that there’s no Italian’s …
    .. Plenty of Bangladeshi’s, Pakistani’s, Poles and Russians …

  128. rockyrocastle07 says:

Arthur Fowler!! I forgot all about him! Hope Mrs Adam has never hit him in the face with a frying pan…..!

  129. rico says:

    Hi Micko…

Syg, not sure I agree with all that is written in that article but yes, intent is the key thing and something I wish we had seen before this summer….

Better late than never though I guess…

  130. rockyrocastle07 says:

I got a few, but not great ones! Satriale’s doesn’t even exist! They build it at the start of every series. Also, in New Jersey, you can’t as Soprano’s shows, have a bar that has an alcohol licence and have topless dancing. It’s one or the other. The real “Bada Bing” (Satin Dolls is its real name) went for the alcohol licence, so the women are covered. They did, however, have TV’s all around the place, one for every NFL game that Sunday, so I watched the Vikings match for half an hour! Sweet deal!!

  131. rockyrocastle07 says:

Ws a great day… Nearly started off amazingly, as I was watching the Arsenal v Liverpool match in an Irish pub near the hotel (we drew 1-1 – Keane scored an amazing equaliser after RVP scored an amazing goal himself)… Then Soprano’s… Then the Vikings! Doesn’t get much better!

  132. southyorkshiregunner says:

It’s a show about a disfunctional family who’s father and uncle are part of New Jersey’s organised crime.
The wife tries to hold them all together but in reality she’s as manipulative as her husband.
The kids are both spoiled brats and give the dad a bigger headache than his greedy captains ….

  133. rockyrocastle07 says:

I think everyone has a soft spot for Pine Barrens! Paulie’s hair at the end is excellent! Ant Tony’s reaction when Bobby turns up in his hunting gear is superb!

  134. southyorkshiregunner says:

.. sounds great Rocky. I love New York….
    … I don’t like the lousy tipping through …..

  135. rockyrocastle07 says:

SYG – After I got there for the first time, we went to a restaurant. Within 3 minutes, I was told “You do know the tip is 15% here don’t you”! I replied that they “better make sure the service was the best I’ve ever received then”. It wasn’t. There was no tip.

  136. allezkev says:

Rocky, sorry about delay in answering.
Not touched the Strand today mate.
    It’s ok around Kings X… 😉

    Bondex, how ya doing buddy?
Everyone is byzzing on here today.
    Well almost everyone!

Nasher, sorry mate, hope we’re still friends… 🙂
Tell ya what, i’ll not get the hump if you wanna have a go at my boy Mertesaker… Deal..? 😉

  137. rockyrocastle07 says:

I generally overtip, which drives my wife insane. She was quite proud of me in NYC and Vegas though, as I refused if it wasn’t good enough. Fuck’em, I thought!

  138. Merlin96 says:

Good afternoon, good afternoon all…finally 1 down 2 to go.

Let me jinxed our transfer targets again..

More and more, it looks likely that Ferguson will hijack Sahin and forced Glazer Family to ocugh up 25-mil to buy Van Persie to have hsi “Dream PARtnerShIP” in ROoney-Van Persie….and dispelling the urban myth of ‘This Lady is not for U-turn”.

Cazorla, I looks upon as functioning in oru team liek what Juan Mata is to Chelski and David Silva to Abu DHabi CIty.

Of all the 3, Cazorla is the most vital to build a title-winning side.

Perhaps he is that catalyst – liek Eric Cantona to Fergie Fledgings – to our Wenger Wunderkind that will drive ’em to fulfil their potential.

ANd of coruse, with Jakc WIlshere out, ROsicky out, I wouldn’t get to see that awful Ramsey as our one and only creative playmaker circa August/September 2011.

Now then..onto to FB and who else?

  139. Merlin96 says:

Mmmmm…..left hand faster than right hand people…..and saki-fueled power lunch does not help too.. 😆

    Off to my siesta people..cheers….

  140. rockyrocastle07 says:

Only just got your comments about yellow snow Lee! I wondered who the hell you were responding to!

  141. southyorkshiregunner says:

cop some ouzo. Me and a mate finished the night with a litre bottle of 12yo I’d brought home from Cyprus. I didn’t have a hangover as such, but still felt shit-faced all the next day. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t shake it off

  142. bondex says:

Sahin in yet?………asked this same question about the CAZ just a few days ago and see where it got us…will asking a few more time hasten the deal…just thinking.

  143. southyorkshiregunner says:

Might do Bondex … You keep asking and get Rico to go out and by a hat and maybe we’ll have him in an Arsenal shirt on dotcom

  144. bondex says:

Rico please go to the moon on a spending spree, who knows,by the time you get back we’d have the entire invincibles cloned and playing for us again

  145. rico says:

Syg, I read we are lining up two more signings, not sure how true that is or whether Sahin is one of them….

😆 bondex/Syg, I’m going to book the last two weeks of the transfer window for a holiday, that ok?? 😉

  146. rico says:

    ‘Tis indeed bondex….. 😉

And that is down to the quality of posters we have here on HH Kev, Wenger make only show intent every once in a while, but we all show respect for each other all the time…

    Right ingredients eh??

    And we get irony 😉

  147. Micko says:

A long weekend in Bognor would suffice rico, like you say we’re only a couple of players away.

Kev, you haven’t mentioned the Olympic’s for 3 days now, you must be going soft.

  148. allezkev says:

Really looking forward to the Stoke game.
Not been up to that cesspit since the mid-70’s.
Be interesting to experience the Staffordshire Inbreds on their home patch/slums.

  149. rico says:

Ha ha Micko, that would do me just fine, few days away from getting up to let the chickens out at silly o’clock – nice… And if it meant we signed another couple of players I’d be all for it ….

  150. rico says:

You brave man kev heading up there, be great going there with a bloody good and strong squad though…

Me, I can’t wait for the first game now, and it’s at home….. Or should I say it’s on TV so, will be watching in my home 🙂

  151. southyorkshiregunner says:

It’s a bit different up at the Potteries these days, Kev … No Mike Pejic or Jimmy Greenhoff … But they do have a £1M pedestrian tunnel from the car park…

  152. rico says:

This is a shocker – Scott Sinclair is in talks with Citeh over a move….. 🙄

I hoped we would sign him last summer…..

  153. Lee says:

Darren Gough has just told that waste of internal organs Durham, that he’s talking out of his arse, regarding Arsenal! Gough said, with the three new signings & if RvP stays we’ll have a bloody good shot at the PL!!!
I still think a monster DM is needed but……

  154. rico says:

Couldn’t agree more Lee, they sure know how to put maximum effort and commitment into their performance…

    Sad for Victoria Pendleton 🙁

  155. allezkev says:

    Cheers SYG…

I can’t wait to view that tunnel.

    The pride of Staffordshire….

No doubt they have visitors from all over the World, going to Stoke, just to marvel at their tunnel.

I wonder if it matches up to the Rotherhithe or Blackwall tunnels?

    Where’s Mucko?

  156. southyorkshiregunner says:

If I have a look through our archives Kev, I can find you a great photo of a contractor building a 600mm dia. sewerage tunnel straight opposite the club’s shop…. circa 2001 I think??/

  157. Adam says:

That absolutely slaughtered me. ” only takes a couple of hours” they told me. Five and a half later and it’s still not finished. And I’ve got bloody cramp in my hands with all the screws. Thousands of them. Also I’ve realised that it’s too big really.

  158. allezkev says:

So, it seems that the major reason AW lost interest in M’Vila, was actually more to do with the fee Rennes were asking, and the terms his agent was after…

Could be a 31st August deal?

  159. allezkev says:

    Yeah, put that up SYG…
Mike Pejic, how on earth did he win any England caps?

Adam, DIY is a great idea, it’s execution is another matter. 😉

  160. devilgunner says:

    Good Evening Fine Folk.

    Hope you all are ok.

With the latest addition to our squad I would go for the following starting 11.

    Szcesney
    Sagna, Koscielny,TommyV,Gibbs
    Song,Arteta
    Ox,Cazorla,Podolski
    Giroud

Subs would be….Flappy, Jenks, Mertesacker, Coquelin,Gervinho,Theo,Santos.

Obviously depending if Song stays or goes and who might come in. But it is at the moment so he is included.

What no RVP you might say??? Well he is going IMO so there is no need to put him there now.

  161. Adam says:

Have we heard from Agag? There’s some terrible stuff happened in the Phillipines and in Manila in particular. I hope she’s ok.

  162. Adam says:

Rico. Behave yourself. 🙂 halfway through the build the heavens opened but I didn’t have the windows in.

  163. rico says:

Evening devil… i don’t think AW is done yet, that line up could change 😉

Adam – not today, i will email her… haven’t seen the news – what’s happened??

  164. rico says:

    That’s tragic Adam, simply horrid……

Have emailed agag, really hope she and her family/friends/animals are ok….

  165. devilgunner says:

As I said Rico. I am speaking of the moment’s players. Not included those who might come since I do not know who is going to come.

The line up might certainly change.

  166. devilgunner says:

Hiya Kev. Got the emails from your phone. So if I send you emails you can read them on your phone now???

  167. rico says:

I’m having an early night folks, going to watch a TV programme I recorded about the Stock, Aitken and Waterman era, it will take me back to my youth….. 🙂

I’ll bid you all a good night and catch up tomorrow…

Nighty all and stay safe, thoughts with agag and her family, hope you are all safe and well…..

    ‘Til tomorrow all….

  168. seedou says:

hello Gunners from The Gambia!good news today, hopefully RVP will sign his contract tomorrow,so santi+RVP+poldi+ox+gerroud+wilshere+theo+rosicky+arshavin+gavi+arteta=?

  169. Lee says:

The Gunners have become famous for their style of football over the years but would have failed to make the top four had it not been for wantaway captain Robin van Persie.

“We work very hard to make the team stronger. In this job, when you have consistency in your attitude you can stay at a certain level,” the French coach said.

“The most difficult thing is to be consistent and we have shown over the last 15 years that we can maintain that consistency.

“I am confident that we have to be faithful to what we believe is right in football and in the game – the way we play football.”

The Gunners have qualified for the Champions League for the past 15 years but have not won a trophy in seven.

“We are now 15 years on the trot in the Champions League and I believe that shows that our [business] model works,” said Wenger.

“On the other hand we are very ambitious, we want as well to win trophies.

“It’s not enough just to be in the Champions League and we are focused on that of course.”

  170. Scott from Oz says:

    Evening all.
    Santi bloody who??
Is this another of Wengers cheap,French buys?
Is this another of Wengers kids?
Is he a cast off from a decent club?
No to all the above questions.
Aaaaahhhhh,it’s good to be a Gooner!!.
