£30M for RvP? Tomorrows result could be win win situation for Arsenal…

No I’m not going mad…..

A victory at the Etihad stadium tomorrow would earn us three points, we’d be back into the top four and confidence will continue to grow and of course it would a huge victory over the sugar daddies who are trying to ruin the Premier League by buying every player available, regardless of what they cost.

A draw, well I think many Arsenal fans would take that result today if they could and that is not being negative.

A loss, well that result is not in the fans minds, just the thought is unbearable but let’s be honest, it could happen, just look at the players they have!

However, Chelsea beat them, after going a goal down, AVB changed his tactics and won the game, so if they can do it, so can we.

Go back just a few months to our last trip to Manchester, a horrid day for all Arsenal fans but what came out of it. No matter how much our football club wish to deny it, that result forced Arsene Wenger’s hand in the final few days of the transfer window and with those mature signings has come stability, confidence and some very good results.

Not for one minute am I suggesting we will suffer in a similar way tomorrow and nor would I wish that just to get Wenger busy in the January transfer window but, should we come away from the Etihad stadium with not even a point, it may just make Arsene Wenger realise that we need just one or two extras next month. More importantly, not just make him realise but actually go out and sign them.

Wenger backs his current crop but for once he has he hasn’t said things like ‘it’s the best squad’ etc etc, this time it’s more simple:

I am personally completely happy with the team I have.

I think most fans feel the same, the current first eleven (team) can beat anyone on their day but it’s when some of the squad players have to step in, we struggle. So as happy as he is with his team, we have to hope he’s thinking he’s not quite so happy with his squad.

Talking of which, Wenger has not 100% ruled out trying to re-sign Thierry Henry – he has said that Henry is still good enough to play in the Premier League but has not made any contact with his current club about a loan deal… Yet!!

The Sun headlines are huge and all about how Citeh think a £30M offer will see them snatch Robin van Persie from us in the summer, what idiots they are eh!!

Another headline is about Jermain Defoe, he’s fed up with playing fiddle to Adebayor and at 29 years old, he wants to be playing and pushing his way into the England set up for next year. Yesterday we talked about how a PL striker would be the best option for us as he’d not have to get used to this league, could he be the answer??

Oh, and in case you missed it yesterday, we have drawn AC Milan in the next round of the Champions League, plenty of time before we have to think about that though.

That’s it for another day, have a good one….

They sold Cesc too cheaply and I bet they may be dumb enough to do the same with RvP, especially if AW knows he’s got Henry for a loan period. Hopefully it will be no sale

Henry may also not mind playing second fiddle to RvP. After all, he has legend status already with nothing to prove. Be good to see 442 with them both playing at the same time but AW won’t move there

So Defoe is shiity with ” Shitty “. Not a bad player. I’d be looking closely at Demba Ba, he’s hungry for goals and seems to be able to finish. Cheaper than Podolski and used to the EPL

Still need a decent defender

morning..good post

wenger indeed isnt saying the same things as the last few years..and to be honest im happy with the team too..

our first team, although lacks the flair of recent seasons is more direct and more versitile and the balance is perfect now its gelled..

the squad however im not completely happy with..i still think we are short of two players…a versitile creative midflelder and a forward who can play anywhere in the front three..

so thats a no to defoe..he doesnt fit the system, he will only be sat on the bench..

i really hope we sign gotze,…that boy will add the flair that cesc had in the middle, only difference is that he can play as a number 10 and a winger so we’re basically saying a cesc who can dribble and play anywhere…so we get the vision and creativity back but we dont go back thru the middle all the time..the balance stays..

henry would be nice short term, but i think it would benefit us longer term if we signed marco reus..he can play anywhere in the front three so hes not sat on the bench waiting for a chance like chamakh..he can also finish..unlike chamakh so he can compete with gerv and theo as well as robin..

if we add these players in january and have a good xmas and are in the top 4..rvp will sign a new deal..and with us still having to play city twice, utd, spurs and chelsea all to come to the emirates i think theres a chance we can pull off the miracle of all miracles and win the title..although if we do nothing and stick with chamakh and park i think were just asking for trouble come the second half of the season…

oh depending on our injury sitaution at the back id go for vertonghen finally..santos, jenks and sagna are all out long term..and i would have too much faith in gibbs lasting more than 5 minutes..hes like diaby..

so maybe a versititle defender as well..although its not a priority at this stage..

versitile players are needed…no point buying defoe or cahill cos they wont play..

we aint snookered as such..Tv and iggy can play there and gibbs aint far away so thats three players.

the Rb’s are more of a concern..jd and koz can do a job but our rbs wont be back until march i reckon..

now we can keep playing koz and jd there and get away with it but that just means we are short in the middle..wengers resolve to play le coq at rb again may be tested but one more long term injury and i think we should go for one..

english defenders preferable..or pl players..but the only one available is cahill and he wont get games..he’ll be 4th choice and the reason spurs are ruling themsleves out is cos he wants 80k a week..
fuck that..im all for restructuring the wage bill but having a player on that wage who is battling for a place on the bench is needless..rather give it to robin..know what i mean.??

id love us to sign samba..but 15-20 mil again to fight it out on the bench is pointless…if we can find one who can play 2-3 positions then yeah lets go for it but i dont know too many in the league who can..

JV can..and at 10mil or whatever it is were getting a good deal..but thats only if the injurys worsen..were already trying to offload squiilaci cos iggy and kyle are coming thru so theres no point buying for the sake of buying..in fact, a loan move for that milan LB maybe the best option short term..

Yeah but he’s an arsenal legend. Coming back and totally failing will only ruin his legendary status. He should be like his country man Aimee jacquet. thats not what we are looking for..we dont want just a striker..

if we dont tomas will stay until summer to keep the numbers up..jacks still injured and diaby pfft… so we need him right now..

Morning Rico and everyone else.
I would sign Henry on a short term loan and bring him on for RVP with 30 minutes of a match to go. It would help keep Robin fit and not be too tiring for Henry.
Sign Cahill, and sell some of the 2nd rate defenders that we have, Dojurau being one.
I fancy a draw against City, but would love to see RVP get a brace against them and us get the 3 points.
It will be an interesting match and a good test to see how far we have come since the United capitulation.
Have a good day everyone.

jeez 🙂
weve had one of the most balanced defensive units weve had in a while full of good players and its gelling nicely..were on a good run and kept the most amount of clean sheets in the top 6 and have the second best defence at home this season..only a freak number of injuries to every single one of our fb’s looks like affecting that and halting the development..

and ppl wnat to start selling them and replacing them with players whove had average seasons themselves..cahills been shit this season to be fair..if were buying cahill were going on what he achieved last season or the season before..so whats the difference??

We won’t lose Rico…zabaleta and whomever they play on their left will have their hands full with theo playing on that same wing am relaxed. Zabaleta won’t venture forward cause he has no pace to burn. 2:1 to the arsenal with theo grabbing both goals.

Hi K-TR7,
Cahill is a good player playing in a poor team. A good player does not become a bad one overnight. There are many games to play over the season, and Wenger will need to rotate players including the defence. I just think it would be good to have another experienced English defender competing for a starting place in the team. Competition for places is good, and keeps players on their toes. I love Doujureau’s attitude and love for the club, but I could never see him being bought by Fergie, or City, or the Chavs. He just ain’t good enough.

Off topic but do you think madrid are moving in the wrong direction?Ronaldo is a brilliant player but i think madrid would be better off building their team around özil?watching how tunnel visioned Ronaldo ran into blind alleys all night giving away possession countlessly must’ve hurt the madridistas.he is very selfish despite being brilliant.his individualism wins them games against lesser sides but against the creme de la creme of Europe he is their weak link.i think madrid would be much better if özil was top dog.how i wish he was a gunner… 🙁

they would have beaten barca if it wasnt for ronaldos shitness in front of goal on the day but hes normally reliable..

I’m against 4-4-2.its outdated and we would get overrun playing with it.the invincibles tore apart the league with it but there is a reason why they were poor in Europe.even right now most PL teams play 4-5-1 against us which would make us too easy to overrun in the middle.

wengers made mistakes..

and hes done it without cesc..

lets just hope he sees january as the chance to finish the rebuilding job he started in the last days of the window..i think theres still players he wants that he didnt have time to get and after the way he lost cesc and nasri i dont think hes messing about anymore..

JJ Llorente would be the main striker with Robin playing in the ‘bergkamp’ role. Gerv and Walcott as the widemen .
442 when needed.
And when Robin needs a rest 451.

buy a versitile forward who can play wing and then when robins out he plays centrally..not an out and out CF..its the reason why bendtners at sunderland, chamakhs shit, parks not geting games velas on loan and dudu got sold..

ppl seem to want this out and out cf but they dont work in our system and changing the system is just taking robins and the rest of our midfeilds games away..fuck that..

we need a pato or a reus..a better version of wiltord..

someone who can play anywhere who fits the system..not sum mug who we have to change the system for..

alan b'stard M P

Goonster. AW is not loyal to the club. It is sadly not a club. It is a commercial business as per the west end theatre and people go to the show

If it were a club there would be memberships and the board voluntary. The members would be the owners with voting rights

Barcelona is a publicly owned club.

AW is NOT loyal to Arsenal, but to a board, which in turn has legal obligations to the shareholders, who, incidently are themselves

JonJon

not forgetting the fact that other than oxo theo and gervinho we dont have anyone else who does a job as a wingforward..

arshavins games gone to shit…so when gervinho goes for 6 weeks whove we got?? theo and oxo realistically…

fuking hell, one injury not even to robin, and we looking down the barrel whereas if reus came in he could play anyway..were killing two birds with one stone..

this obsession with robins replacement is fucking with ppl’s head its taking focus away from everything… trust me guys JJ’s always right 🙂

K-TR7
K-TR7

JJ do you even have to ask?i agree.specialists in the modern game are kind of a rare breed.Song is a DM but he can also play abit.there is a reason why poachers are outdated.modern footy requires all 11 players to contribute equally both in offence and defence.the likes of rvp can drop into midfield,go outwide you name it.versatility is very important not having one man sitting in the box waiting for a tap in.having a fluid front 3 is a thing of beauty because of its unpredictability.one minute you’re marking robin…then theo…then Gerv…its difficult to cope with unlike having to mark just one CF.its why Arsene wants reus/podolski and not the likes of Sow,to create a fluid system.the same thing is happening in midfield with rambo/song/arteta constantly moving.no opposition wants to defend against such a team.Barça nowadays can shift from 4-3-3 to 3-4-3 to 4-2-3-1…due to having universal players who are very versatile.it makes them very hard to beat and thats what Arsene must be aiming for.

that is Wenger again. He should have a slave stall in Africa. He is fascinated with African footballers. Then they piss off for ACN and this occurs

Like I’ve said, if AW ignores Africans and buys properly in the first place, the board would not need to stick it’s hand in it’s pocket a second time

Afternoon all,
Just reading some of your coments and noticed one or two of you have said we should build a team around RVP that i think would be a mistake Would you build a team around Gibbs no of course not because he is always injured the same goes with Robin, at the moment he’s electric but one injury and were in the deep stuff we need another VPersie so that the team continues the same way. I would forget about Wenger Buying Defenders in January to, as we have many that can step in, and although i felt Cahill was destined to wear our red and white i have to admit we have no room, i would sugest a striker and a playmaker, and of course quality back up for Czezsney that is where we will definitely need it.Many on the verge of fitness and i believe if we can hold on we will have the tools to get the job done.

ppl can go missing for more than 6 weeks thru injury..nevermind acn
that would be as silly as me saying jacks not worth a new deal cos hes missed 6months of this season..

africans got nothing to do with it..if they are good enough then we should sign them..and as long as we dont fill our team with them then whats the problem??

Hi steve.i have to disagree.why can’t we for a second think that maybe rvp is getting that break he deserves from injury?he is taking care of himself much better nowadays because of that extra responsibility of being the lynchpin.we are doing everything from GPS to resting him to keep him healthy.he hasn’t got injured for a year as a result *touchwood*.maybe we need to show rvp a little bit more faith.even when Guardiola took over at Barca he sold deco/ronaldinho and made messi, who was very injury prone at the time, top dog.he also revised his training regime and diet to better his fitness just like we are doing with rvp.that faith and responsibility has seen messi blossom and he rarely gets injured now.i can see parallels with robin.that doesn’t mean we don’t have to buy a backup but so long as he is fit he is top dog.if he is unavailable its up to Arsene to make a plan B.Van Basten took rvp to Euro08 injured…yeah,he is that good 😉

JonJon

I tell you this…..it wont be Podolski, Gotze or whatever.

AW will simply buy Toivonen. He is a Swedish footballer who plays for Dutch club PSV Eindhoven. He plays as a striker. He is 1.91 m (6 ft 3 in) and his scoring record is that of 1 goal every 2.1 games.

He will not cost as muchas podolski. He will cost less than 10 million and is quite a fast lad for his size.

Personally I would like Podolski.

Watch this space.

Who scores when Robins not there, not that many, i hope Robin lasts out to the end of his playing days but i wouldn’t put my house on it.

Morning all. 30 mil undervalues him for the form he is in. besides, we shouldn’t be talking about fees for our best player and captain during the thick of the season.

Milan again. The two legs in 2008, when they were defending European champs are still fresh in memory. How many remember the 1995 European Super Cup? European Cup winners Milan met Cup Winners Cup holders Arsenal over two legs. 0-0 at Highbury and 2-0 Milan at the San Siro. That was some Milan side.

gervinhos just lacking the cutting edge..
hes thinking too much in one on ones but hes doing brilliantlly in his first season…the finishing will come as he gains more confidence and trains more with robin but the assists are still there..
