Xhaka talks held, Iwobi hospitalised and pick your ‘outs’ for the summer. (Poll)

Morning all.

Just a bit of Football Manager today, so you’ve got a poll on which you can pick and choose who you’d like to see sold off in the summer..

[yop_poll id=”7″]

And whilst your mulling that over, spare a thought for Alex Iwobi who having been called by Nigeria, has got food poisoning and reports suggest he’s been hospitalised. At least he’s two weeks to recover. Danny Welbeck is struggling too, his knee is causing him problems and missed training with England yesterday. I hope Roy Hodgson doesn’t play him at all, after all, the fixtures are only friendlies.

Mesut Ozil has publicly denied the story which suggested it’s him or Wenger at Arsenal next season. Let’s be honest, Mesut is a pro and he isn’t going to tell the media such things is he. His agent might as he’s searches for a better deal at the club, or he could of course just be telling the world just how his ‘client’ feels.

When a club signs one of the best creators in football, that man needs quality around him, not slow or disinterested players. He needs players on his level, players who know what his next move will be and where is next pass is going.

In Dennis Bergkamp, Arsenal had one of the greatest ever in Mesut’s position. He had Henry, Wrighty, Pires, Freddie etc around him. They knew where to run and when to run. Mesut doesn’t have such great support around or ahead of him. I know some will disagree because of the amount of assists the German has notched up this season, but just imagine how many he’d have had a player like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of him?

Bit of gossip:

Southampton are interested in taking Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back and they are prepared to pay the same amount Arsenal paid for him five years ago and then there’s a biggie. German newspaper Bild report that Arsenal are hoping to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka and Arsene Wenger has already had a meeting with Xhaka’s father and the player’s agent.

That’s nice…..

    Good Morning Chips and Chops.

    Good brain exercising article.

With the exception of Kieran Gibbs and Joel Campbell I would like to see them all gone.

For me it would be easier to say who would you keep than discard.

    Here goes……

Cech, Ospina(?) Ches (?) Bellerin, Gabriel, Koscielny, Chambers, Monreal, Ġibbs, Coquelin, Jenkinson, Elneny, Ozil, Sanchez, Aaron, Wellbeck, Iwobi, OX, Santi, Campbell

That is only 18 players + 2 reserve keepers and it means that AW needs to buy at least 6 more. I doubt that.

We need a new RB, unless Jenks is up to it, we need a new CB, another DM, another B2B, another winger, a striker and a utlility player who can fit in many positions.

We have Toral, Akpom and Heyden who I would give a chance. The rest I would sell. What is the point of keeping players like Sanogo, Gnabry, and others like Theo and Ollie if they are not good enough or continue to let us down??

  2. rico says:

There aren’t many I’d keep either Devil but I bet AW does as to make so many changes at one time isn’t the way he does things…

  3. dublingunner says:

Morning all. jeez to look at that table depresses me, Maybe Campbell i,d keep, The rest i,ll be honest I wouldn,t miss. Apparently reports suggesting Welbeck has been carrying a niggle the past 2 games.
Arteta, Wilshere, Rosicky and Flamini are either not good enough, too old or too broken to play with. Costing us, £345k a week. That’s £18m a year we’re wasting on players who don’t play, Not to mention Sanogo, Merts and Theo, and Ox.
God I don,t know, I just couldn,t see any top Manager letting it go so stale without changing or freshening things up, All the more reason why i think Wenger,s finished.

  4. Wavy says:

He never brings in more than 3 or 4 so the inevitable loss of Flamini, Arteta and Rosicky. They will all go as for the rest your guess is as good as mine! However, I would keep Atrteta but in some form of coaching capacity. Why shoot him off to one of our rivals when he knows all Wenger’s coaching secrets!
I think I’d keep Theo and le Quiffbut as squad players not as starters, oh and I’d reduce TW’s wage by at a half!
Gibbs why would you sell him? He is a not bad left back and at the moment he’s good cover for Monreal. Same with Campbell a good squad player and reliable too, especially defensively.

I’m off to think about it a bit more……….nice one Rico.

  5. dublingunner says:

But thats just it, He,s not thought this through imo, to let all these contracts run down together and word is Merts contract wont be extended either and if he,s to sell on players that aren,t needed too, How the hell is he going to bring in so many required changes in one Window, when it would,ve made complete sense to start integrating new players the last two windows
If anything he,s made it harder on himself.

  6. Intolerant Kev says:

I’m not so sure we need to worry that much over the defence.

It’s the attack that has cost us the Title this season.

Score more goals, take the lead in games and those games take on a different dynamic with a different result..,

Keep missing chances and eventually you get punished…

So I’d spend big on at least two goalscorers and move on Walcott, Rosicky, Arteta, Flamini, Szczesny, Sanogo, Ospina and Debuchy…

Iwobi is a bonus and hopefully a couple or three more from Akpom, Maitland-Niles, Hayden, Toral, Jenkinson, Zelalem and Crowley can fill out the squad…

  7. potter says:

The postman always rings twice. Apparently. Why was Gibbs already ticked and is the poll working because it isn’t on my phone. Anyhow Poll’s already gone apart from his radio whitewash every week.

  8. Joaquim Moreira says:

they are two twins Sanogo !?
Both play for arsenal? who is loan to Charlton? yaya one or yaya two? and the other is where?

  9. Marshall says:

A poll! Only Campbell and Jacko who I’d keep…

Such a rot and waste of money on dead wood players and Wenger gets just 49votes?

Iwobi is a tough fella, he’ll get better. Welbeck is our best striker atm, I hope he shakes off that niggle. Ozil stories whether real or not will give the club something to ponder about.

  10. Joe says:

Nearly 800 votes or so and only 51 wanted Wenger out so much noise from such a small percentage.
    Hi Rico

  11. Marshall says:

Haha Rico good stuff on Iwobi. He’s african, food poisoning couldn’t keep him down. Can’t say the same about Jack. Pity.

I thought Wenger out was a 99.9% unanimous decision.

Re Xhaka reports wont excite me, not atleast it’s official. Remember Wenger had even a jersey printed with Ibrahimovic’s name on it.

  12. Wavy says:

I know I’ve said this before but, I think Jack has a real deep seated problem. Something like osteoparosis perhaps. He keeps on ‘breaking’ after what appear innocuous challenges. This is the second time he has missed a season, more or less. Sadly, I don’t think we will see him playing for Arsenal again or any other team either. A real shame if I’m right because I really rated him I think Wenger had him earmarked as Cesc’s successor. However, if I’m wrong and he really is on his way back, this may be Wenger’s way of keeping him out of the Euro’s.
Let’s hope it’s the latter and that he has not contracted some incurable, condition.

  13. rico says:

Not sure Wenger works in such mysterious ways Wavy. Didn’t he keep jack away from the first team a couple of seasons ago just so he could play at the WC?

My guess is something similar will happen again and we’ll see him playing for Arsenal two weeks before the end of the season…

  14. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning CHARLIES and ELIZABETHS.

I have always imagined you as princes and queens hence my greetings this morning.

Ahhh. The sweet world of fantasy and imagination.

I will never call you Gabriels and Gervinhoes.

Goonie will hate that for sure. 😉

Seems we are going to have Pep, Mourinho and Van Gaal have a rethink.

Apparently AW is going to have the following team next year…….

    Cech
    Bellerin, Stones, Kos, Monreal
    Xhaka, Coquelin
    Sanchez, Ozil, Welbeck
    Ibrahimovic

    😀

  15. Marshall says:

Lol I feel like a Royalty already. Morning HRD and all. I feel the dressing room will be too small for both AW and Ibra.

These two weeks are going to be horrible with the papers linking us with everyone and now with the managerial position in the mix they’re having a field day.

About Jack it’s a shame and problem with that bastard he’s smoking himself to death…he ain’t no Zidane.

  16. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Morning Lady of the Manor.

back from a 5km jog…..lovely weather though a bit windy here. the little one did them all with me….good for a 12 year old.

seems we are going to get a new super team……but dont hold your breath

  17. Hell Raising Devil says:

    yes very funny and unreal.

but unless AW gets ruthless and chucks out players like Jack and those who offer nothing it will be useless to buy and hope. These players suck the life out of club’s money which should be spent on better bodies.
