Wrighty wants Edinson Cavani? Wenger has to let go, then we can move onwards and upwards…..

Morning All.

Ok so another loss against a Manchester team and I know a lot of supporters have given up all hope of winning the Premier League for another season but don’t be too hasty to give up hope for our team, as there is still a long way to go.

The team we lost to on their own turf, has only lost one game in the league up to now, they are the league leaders and are just a mere 12 points in front of us. Ok at this stage to have a 12pt lead may seem like they are untouchable but when you look at both the sides and the way the game panned out, we were not overshadowed by their class.

Surprising really when you consider how much both sides cost to put together.

They scored the winning goal and it has to be said that it wasn’t the prettiest goal you will ever see and yes, they did have a few chances but no more than we did, the only difference was that one of theirs went in where ours were saved or miss hit.

Our finishing is woeful and it’s starting to look like Robin van Persie’s run has petered out and we have nothing in reserve.

Walcott has been a big disappointment to many supporters, he looked annoyed when Wenger took him off and I don’t know why, as his contribution was negligible. Theo is a lightweight although I don’t like to say it but for quite a few years we have waited for this young man to mature and in my opinion, he hasn’t. I don’t think I have ever seen him challenge in the air and actually attempt to win the ball. He also gets shoved off the ball so so easy and he still crosses the ball like a blind man. I believe we have given this young man enough time.

Chamakh is another forward who has disappointed, his form will never comeback for us and its time for him to move on and not in the distant future either. January is the time, sell him or loan him out, he is not even worth a place on the bench as he gives us nothing. Arshavin is another who gives us very little, we can’t start him because he is not good enough, his days with us is over, and January is the time for him to go.

Aaron Ramsey in my eyes can still make it with us, a lot of supporters have started to question him, his little flicks which normally goes straight to the opposition need to stop, he isn’t good enough at this stage of his development to try these trick flicks and somebody needs to put him right and quick, as he is a liability. So at this moment in time, I would suggest another new striker and a winger who wants to get stuck in and I would like them in January.

Of course with Arshavin out of the way, Park, Ryo and Chamberlain could step forward, we have signed them so Wenger must think they are good enough, they certainly couldn’t be worse than Arshavin anyway,

Almunia Fabianski and Mannone are keepers that we don’t want to see, they have had their chance, and will never be quality, so a reserve keeper is required as a matter of urgency. Squillaci is another that needs to be gone…

Sagna Jenkinson Santos and Gibbs along with Wilshere should be nearing a return in the next month to six weeks, so positions will start to get covered fairly soon,  that should allow us to keep new signings down until the summer and then we should have players like Campbell and Bartley in the mix.

We continue fielding players who are not up to the task so they need to be shipped out, then Wengercan never again be tempted to play them again, he has to be cruel to be kind.

Djourou and Diaby are two players who definitely have ‘No Durability’ as their middle names and should also have question marks against their names.

Now I have just read all that back and I know you will think that I’m digging out most of the team but I am not suggesting all this has got to be done tomorrow but it has to be addressed as soon as possible!

We have to get those twelve points back as soon as we can, so Wenger needs to get the cheque book out, move the deadwood on and then and only then will we move onwards and upwards.

Wenger has to let go, it’s the only way.

Titbits:

Wrighty has been talking about our weakness in front of goal and suggests we should sign Edison Cabani from Napoli and he also believes it’s time to unleash the Ox! Well, I think we all agree on that one and he’s ready. He is not some feeble looking lightweight who needs wrapping in cotton wool, he’s a strong young man who has the body to match his nick-name The Ox.

Play him against Aston Villa Arsene, please!

There is certainly no point bringing on Arshavin any more, his days with us have to be over. The Daily Mail report again that he is top of the clear out list that Wenger has but will only be sold on if a suitable replacement can be signed. In the meantime we have better options from the bench, Yossi and Rosicky just to name two!

    Morning all….

Bloomin heck Steve, is there any player you want us to keep? 😉

The one I disagree with is Walcott, he didn’t have a great game on Sunday but in the main this season, he has caused all sorts of problems to defenders and imho he is a player we must keep.

Another is Ramsey, he’s going to be world class, a lot is being asked of him right now and he’s trying to fill a big pair of boots which left in the summer and considering his time out of the game through injury, he’s doing well, really well. Finally he and Arteta seem to be gelling…

    Good post for debating though….

  2. lee says:

I read the Wrighty article and make him 100% right re the Ox, play him tomorrow night please!
So the back four that finished the game at shitty will start? No Song, so Pingpong in place…

  3. rico says:

    Morning lee

Wrighty is spot on, he’s a big lad, he can cope and def start him tomorrow..

AA needs to be left in London with Chamakh and lets hope Park is on the bus….

The defence is really stretched, and typical for us, Bent is fit I think….

    Frimps or Coquelin?

  4. goonster says:

No durability in both diaby and djourou despite the “D” in their names? That’s Steve at his best for ya. Morning HH…

  5. lee says:

Frimpong for me…why does AW persist giving shite players so much game time? Denilson, Al etc…not good enough to pull on a red & white jersey!!

  6. Mohd Ismail says:

Wenger has been getting the likes of Park, the jap and the ox with an eye for the future. The problem is will these guys blossom ?The examples with Brenthner,Vela,Denilson, etc show it is useless .Time is wasted. For the price of two of these players,Wenger could have got someone with proven experience.
Perhaps the FM believes his youth team can prove it’s possible to win the epl on the cheap. It hasn’t worked out the last five years and why should it work in the future. The gunners risk being consigned to the Europa league.
As for the cl,forget it. It’s better for the gunners to lose at the qf or sf than to lose again in the final. It will be too painful

  7. Steve says:

“Robin Van Persie’s run has petered out”????

Is this based on the fact that he hasn’t scored in 1 game?

  8. Gooner Sam says:

Because he can never admit when he is wrong, he likes nothing more than to say I told you so. So 3 players would be nice, striker, winger and full back, I’m writing my dear Santa letter as we speak! By the way morning all!

  9. ArsenalDK says:

Hello everyone! It’s been ages since i last left a comment. Busy life i guess. Hope everyone is ok!

Regarding Walcott, he’s not a winger! When will Wenger start playing him up front? I think he could be devastating! I’m tired of being excited about that day…

  10. goonster says:

Hi Rico that your edel what cha my callit is shit. He’s worse than chamakh and park put together. If I see him in an arsenal shirt I ll sooner lose it.hahahaha wanted to sound like a doomer this morning. Anyway I saw a clip of him last night. Well all I can say is…don’t hold your breathe. Hi Ak lee

  11. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning all,
Hi AK, just the bad half , and boy they are bad, Squilly DJ Diaby Arshavin Chamakh Fabianski Manone Almunia Theo who would you put in from the off.

  12. rico says:

Welcome MI – The Ox is a whole new ball game, he’ll make it….

Steve – i’m not ready to write off RvP’s form just yet, he’ll be banging them in tomorrow….

  13. allezkev says:

    Bolton going down..?
    Get Jaaskalinen next summer.
    Sell Manuel, Mannone & Fabianski.
    Promote Martinez and Reice~Cook as 3rd & 4th choice.

  14. ArsenalDK says:

Hello goonster! Good to be back! Well it’s a long story, but to make it short, i got a new job, and let’s say my chances at being online are restricted! How’s you? 🙂

  15. ArsenalDK says:

Wonder if Vela is ever gonna get a chance? How can Park and Chamakh be better than Walcott and Vela up front? We also have Afobe coming back from injury..

  16. allezkev says:

Lee. This useless phone doesn’t have much of a future mate.
January sales and an iPhone for me, as long as the price isn’t stoopid.
    Blimey i’m sounding like Wenger.
Great to be back Rico. Really missed the buzz.
ADK. Your boy Chezzer is becoming a real folk~hero at the Grove. Got anymore like him back home? 🙂

  17. ArsenalDK says:

Denmark’s just cold! Nothing new here, except for Bendtner’s usual misbehaviour! Hope, he doesn’t come back to us again.. AK i’m not from Poland mate! 🙂

I’m from the land of Dzeko, Bosnia and Hercegovina!
I’m one of the first who wished for him here at the Arsenal, man we could really have had use of him..

  18. allezkev says:

I know what you mean Steve.
For me Chamakh and Arshavin are a waste of space.
Two players who could be match~winners.
I don’t buy the confidence crap. They just don’t care enough or are mentally weak. We are not good enough to carry anyone. We need XI players contributing.
Almunia is gone. Ditto Fab & Mannone.
I’d give Diaby to the end of this season. For me, that’s the cut~off point. Theo is ok. Just about!

  19. allezkev says:

Sorry ADK. You must have some good players back in the Balkans.
Good footballers often come out of adversity and a tough environment.
    Whose your team back home?

  20. goonster says:

What is this I hear about a proposed strike affecting our boxing day fixture against wolves? Goddamn the universal will do all in its power to ensure that robin don’t break shitter’s record. What a load of crap.

  21. allezkev says:

    Yeah Lee. That’s the problem.
Because of their idiotic wages we might be forced to almost give rhem away to get rid.
£5m for Bendtner now, if we’re lucky.
    £1.5m for Denilson?
    What do ya think?

  22. allezkev says:

Stan, sorry amigo, don’t know nuffink about Suarez.
But the transfer fee mentioned makes me think a deal for him could be a goer.
What do you think about him?

  23. stevepalmer1 says:

I’m going to go along with you guys on Theo, you were right with Czezs when i was digging him out , he has come on bundles, but the others let them wankers go, got some more shopping to do catch you experts later.

  24. goonster says:

He looks the part AK…can play anywhere up top. Reminds me of Reyes before he left for Madrid. Good dribbler and a good shot on him. Stong too.

  25. ArsenalDK says:

Dzeko is undoubtly the biggest star, but there’s also Ibisevic, Pjanic and Begovic the goalie from Stoke.

My favourite team down there is FK Sarajevo, but unfortunately nothing will ever become of Bosnian football because of the corruption.. But the balkans have produced quite some stars. Modric, Vidic, Dzeko, Ivanovic just to name a few…

  26. Arsenal says:

Would disagree with Walcott, the lad is finally starting to track back (not as much as Gerv though but still an improvement) and he has done well throughout the season so far. Yes he’s had bad games but he’s not arshavin level were he only plays a good game once in one hundred times. Per three games he usually has one bad one, but when he’s on his game he’s good to watch. But the ox will be a monster, i would actually like to see him played through the centre once pat rice drills defending into his head as well. In terms of forwards I like the idea of Lukas Podolski and hopefully Matias Suarez. Both are a possibilaty and loaning a fullback is essential.

  27. welshgooner says:

Gutted about arshavin. He became one of my favourite players, after single handedly tearing the dutch a new asshole in the euros. Travelled down to the grove to watch his debut against sunderland. But now he is a disgrace. Lazy and uncommitted. Think arsene should have given him a shot in his proper position, but hey that’s life. Send him packing January, and get podolski. He not cup tied, and he give robin some help, cos nobody else can hit the net. Would love to see lord terry back for a bit too!

  28. goonster says:

Oh sorry DK just an Argentine we are being linked with. He plays for anderleth in the Belgian league. Good player great price…wenger bargain anyone?

  29. allezkev says:

I liked Reyes Stan. He just was a bit of a Mummy’s boy.
Suarez sounds good then. Argie’s are tough hombries.
Got some shopping to do guys.
    See ya lata.
    Welcome home ADK.

  30. kenneth ken says:

we have to be realistic and podolski does look the best option, arshavin and chamahk need to be sold as their performances are not up to the required standards at the top level.

  31. EastSidePaul says:

I really think we need to shuffle things around, Ryo and Ox on either wing, TWO centre midfielders and RVP playing off a striker ala Bergkamp.

Couldn’t ask for a better keeper, Sagna is a solid RB, not sold on Santos just yet, I like that he actually tackles and is an allround better player than Gibbs. Kos and Verm as my centre backs.

The midfield is a huge problem, do we have the players to play only two in midfield? Song does a great job when he does his job that is, and Arteta is a work horse, so how about Arteta and Song in centre mid? RVP drops back and does what he does best. While we go out in Jan and splash 25m+ on a 30 goal a year striker?

  32. devilgunner says:

Goodmorning guys and chicks of the Gunners’ faith.

Good post Steve, half of it most debatable, but then again that is how most Gunners on this side like it. We need to debate and whether we agree or not we still remain Gunners.

However I do agree with Steve. Nearly half the squad needs to step up or be cleared out. We need AW or a coach who is ruthless. I agree that we need ball players but we also need those who have their heart in it. Those who do not play up to standards need to be moved on. We should learn that simply by seeing Chelsea of Mourinho and Shitty of Mancini…..players are kept on their toes simply by having someone behind their back wanting to take their place.

Players like Almunia, Mannone, Arshavin, Bendtner, Denilson, Chamack, Squillaci need to be moved on. Even Diaby and Rosicky need to be sold since they continue to break down. Sorry mates, we are speaking ARSENAL not a mediocre middle placed team where there is a hierarchy of players. Yes, I should dare to say that even RVP needs to be kept on his toes. I agree that players have dips in form but mentally they would be more alert and more consistent if they have real competition.

  33. devilgunner says:

I agree with you ESP. I have been banging the drum for that formation for a long time. We do need to change it to 4-4-1-1. And we already have the personnel. But we need to have a new left back, because I would prefer to have Santos as a left winger. Arteta can also play on the left. We can put Frimps and Song in the middle and the defence would be protected while Ramsey can play on the right. Gervinho and Walcott can rotate in attack or on the right.

What makes me angry is why does not AW be original and try something new to keep opponents guessing. Why always this 4-3-3 thing when we have the personnel to play anyone of the following formations…..4-4-2/4-4-1-1/4-2-3-1/4-3-3/4-5-1/4-3-1-2

  34. John says:

Personally trying to keep our top players has in the past stopped us from getting rid of players that are not good enough. Mainly because we have to pay for their replacements instead of reinforcing the squad. This may change in the coming window.

  35. John says:

The difference between us and the Manchester teams is not looking at the starting 11 but just take one look at our bench on Sunday and then look at theirs.

  36. John says:

Podolski would be a classic old school Wenger signing getting that player who had his big move did not go according to plan but has always been highly talented and then gets the best out of them. Henry, Vieira and Kanu etc. Our style of player has changed this year it is more Arsenal than mini Barcelona. Less passing quicker counter attacks and Gervinho has added to that, OX needs to be played in front of Arshavin now. Shaqiri would be top of my shopping list in the summer. I would try and get Darren Bent on loan in January while splashing some money on Gotze.

  37. devilgunner says:

Agree John. However if no one is injured AW will be able to field this team……Chesney, Sagna, Santos, Vermaelen, Mertesacker, Song, Wilshere, Arteta, Gervinho, RVP,Walcott.
Subs…..Fabianski, Koscielny, Jenkinson, Benayoun, Ramsey, Oxo, Rosicky.

Note that there is no forward of note. I have left out Chamack and Park. Therefore it is of utmost importance that AW gets a new striker to take the load off RVP or to play alongside him.

As you can see John that is a good subs bench to have in any game. If we can have Jaaskelainen instead of Fabianski and a real forward in place of Rosicky than it will be a good bench and a great 1st team.

  38. terry says:

I would like to try this squad against villa
    Walcott arshavin
    Yossi arteta frimpong ox
    Miquel vermy met kozzer
    Schezny

  39. Joaquim Moreira says:

About the post: the defensive organization of the MC was exactly that: to leave no room for Walcott speed. So Zalaeta said was the best player on the field. Cutting off the passing lanes to “rip” and getting a good defense in one to one, Walcott canceled. Gervinho is more difficult because a player is unpredictable. The game varies greatly. invent solutions. Walcott not. If it is cut to expose the space available to its speed, its efficiency is reduced greatly. Then a team like Arsenal’s current offensive side without full-backs o oooffensive (Sagna, Santos), is fragile. So rapidly exchanged with Gervinho Walcott but the lesson from the MC was well studied. Asked by Coquelin the range because it was urgent to take Walcott and win the midfield. Notice that with the departure of Walcott turned the game over to our side and MC “shuffled up” markings.

  40. Joaquim Moreira says:

about the title: No more illusions. Now only a miracle. The apparent victory over the MC would be a great elan. One gets the feeling it was not worse in two games (maybe best of both …) but for the story were two defeats. One way out of the competition (Carling Cup); the other, a chance to win the championship.

  41. stevepalmer1 says:

Agree with what you say JM, with our full backs injured and being replaced with centre backs has definitly stiffened up the back line we look a stronger unit, centre backs have a tendancy to hold back so we have a resolute defence , i believe that since we lost our full backs our wingers are being supplied less but instead of working harder they shrug their shoulder’s. What i am afraid of is when our full backs returns, the weakness we had at the back returns too .

  42. stevepalmer1 says:

Hi Alan, my thoughts as well, he’ll buy a striker before he moves Theo. I believe he sees Theo as an out and out winger and while he possesses the speed will leave him there. I don’t think Theo can mix it in the middle he gets shrugged off to easy

  43. Joaquim Moreira says:

Chamack, Gervinho and Fripong will be out for the African Cup on January. But about the others? MCity? Both Touré ? Chelsea: Essian, Kanu?

  44. stevepalmer1 says:

I would be tempted to replace Theo with the Ox He will take on his man and he gets stuck in as well, he also challenges for everything. Maybe Wenger does’nt want to rush him.

  45. lee says:

SP, he’s gotta play the ox, he gave zableta a tough time in cc game! Theo had the right hump at being substituted (or the fact that AA replaced him?) anyways Theo was shit on sunday!!

  46. rico says:

JM, not Essien as he’s only just about to return after nasty injury, darm shame Ade has quit Togo, could do with spuds not having him for a month…..

  47. agirlagunner says:

Steve, that’s a loooot of players! Ha ha. I’m afraid even if we hold a fire sale, there may be no takers. AA’s days seem numbered. I have never seen him this indifferent. 🙁 Shame, he’s capable of the truly spectacular.

Theo can be very frustrating. 🙁 🙁

  48. goonster says:

Oh boy Rico and that mutt. What to do…what to do. Hi ya agag. How are you holding out. That damned tropical storm is ruining it for all of us. Hope you re safe though? That’s paramount.

  49. agirlagunner says:

goonster, Manila’s okay, just overcast. 🙂 I hope you’re well. And behave; listen to your mum! 😀

    Where is everybody??

  50. goonster says:

Here we go again! Its not JV again now is it mama bear? Though you gave up on cahill and turned your attention to Jan vertoghen?

  51. rico says:

And again I say to you goonster, it’s only what i heard….. doesn’t mean its my preferred choice or what will happen… dont shoot the messenger 😉

  52. goonster says:

Just saw the lads training. Good to know there are no new injury to report. bring on villa. Mcleish owe us big!

  53. rico says:

Which iphone is best lee?? I am hopeless with mobiles….

    Tomato alan 😉

I read it somewhere and someone told me the same thing, but he read it too so it’s probably rubbish, sadly 🙁

I just have a hunch though and i’m hanging on to it….

  54. alan b'stard M P says:

which iphone. There is on’y one iphone. Aplle

There are similar phone from a couple of other brands

If you are running Macs, get the iphone as they work well together

  55. Joaquim Moreira says:

Bolton wants to go down second division, no?
Fripong can be loan on January but only play on the beggining of February.
We need a striker. We need RVP, another one and Park. Chamack question, must be solve in the end of this month. If he stays, we don’t know how is fit after African cup. The some to Gervinho. Imagine the worst scenary. Both out January, February and more. Or, out of their normal performance. AA is the last season with us. Now his mentallity is somewhere and the legs don’t answer their taughts. We need Coquelin and Diaby fit for December/January. So we need a striker (1st priority); a midfield/winger – second priority; probably a full back/versatile player and a goalkeeper (who can send confidence to everyone!). Have we those solutions inside the team?

  56. stevepalmer1 says:

Isn’t any of our keepers linked with Barca they always want a compatriate back, bit suprised they haven’t been shouting for the last couple of years, but i think a whisper would get our attention

  57. rico says:

Macs alan, i wear those when it rains 😉

JM – I think Frimps will go on loan 1st Jan and we’ll keep Coq as cover for Song…

  58. rico says:

Prob Ches Steve, they wouldn’t want any of the others…..

Sorrensen would have been free next summer, we def need a keeper like him, missed a trick with Freidel imho…

lee – are they easy to use though, i’m as good with a phone as i am a computer 🙁

  59. Joaquim Moreira says:

Fripong need to play every week…
He can go with a clausure: don’t play against us.
However, we must buy one/two players and sell some.

  60. rico says:

Frimps woud learn a lot at Bolton, the same way that Jack did and i think he’d play each game there, definately need a goal scorer and a versatile defender as a matter of urgency.

Whether or not Wenger will pay the inflated January prices or not though remains to be seen – the only players available imho will be ones who are ready to leave for free in the summer…

That’s why I think the likely signings are Cahill and Ederzito, both would be decent prices next month….

They may not be our choices, but Wenger likes the cheaper ones 😉

  61. rico says:

I said the same a while back, but you never know, he needs a bit of luck…

Ryo is backj though, training normally on Friday and will be ready real soon….

  62. goonster says:

am so bummed out Rico….was really looking forward to seeing him. I guess we have no choice now than to sign JV.

  63. goonster says:

Where is everybody? Been waiting for an hour now. Refreshing the page and hoping somebody comes on. Oh well guess I ll take off too. see ya pals.

  64. rico says:

Evening guys – all full up now 🙂

He could be AK, if we got him cheap in jan i’d be happy, but we seriously need LB cover, maybe a loan?

  65. stevepalmer1 says:

TV the only natural Left footer looks like him there for a while plus he can advance up the field Gervinho needs help up there Gibbs is another waste of space how long we going to put up with these injury prone players.

  66. Joaquim Moreira says:

like the start of season, we nead a central forward. After our defeats, we bougth Parker. We loan Bendtner. Chamack still a hope. On December, chamack is no more a hope, Bendtner is past and Park is somewhere, sometimes in Japan. Like I said, we need a left back after Clichy transfer. we have Gibbs! No, I said: Gibbs in twenty games is fit two. Is not a solution even a sub. We need a left back with confidence. We can play with Vermaelen and Traoure. ok, but Vermaelen plays at left back in Belgium because they have good central defenders and not a good a left back. At the end of September, we bougth Santos. ok. Traoure is sold to QPR.

  67. rico says:

Well, maybe he will be a mug, but a loyal one – there is more to playing than a huge wage and if wenger makes a few changes in Jan and again in the summer, he could finish his career at the top – and with us….

  68. stevepalmer1 says:

As it happens Wath since the full backs have been injured we have been rock solid, as you said they don’t venture, i would be inclined to leave them there and get the midfield shook up a bit. i think Gervinho will benifit greatly when Jack materialises again. I think he has had a long enough rest now don’t you

  69. W.A.T.H says:

As much as we miss Jack I don’t want us to rush him back and he then gets 2 months of niggly injuries Steve, I think he could be ready a lot earlier and reckon Wenger holding him back for that exact reason make sure he is 100% ready

  70. Joaquim Moreira says:

Wilshere is out mostly of the season. Fabregas, Eboue and Nasri were sell. Diaby, in twenty games is fit two. The same story. Like I said before, we need 3 goalkeepers. two players for each position and two players who can play in different positions. In this squad, thw two players must be Gibbs and Diaby. 25 players. In this season, how many players have been play? 3 goalkeepers and 1 more in the bench;10 defenders;maybe 15 more players and more 3 at the bench. Ufff.. it’s very diffucult to mange this squad !

  71. stevepalmer1 says:

Can’t see that happening rico, Toure Clichy Nasri he could play with his mates and earn a kings ransom, and to be quite honest, i wouldn’t blame him at all, at his age he has to look forward to his family’s future.

  72. stevepalmer1 says:

Not so JM, its easy to manage, just dump the chaf and buy reliable players with a healthy record. Half of the squad are not good enough not fit enough and not robust enough, Not hard to manage good players that can take a knock.
