Wrighty, get out of there. International round up as Pepe finds his shooting boots..

Good afternoon.

When will it stop raining? It’s dark as well, far too early in the day that’s for sure.

Rumour has it Ian Wright is heading for the Australian jungle this winter. Last years winner Arry let it slip and he reckons our ex striker might struggle to keep it together. I think I would too with all those bugs, slugs and spiders, let alone other human beings around me. I’m a Celebrity….. is one of my ‘must watch’ programmes so I hope this rumour about Wrighty is true.

I watched some of the England game the other night and it was pretty dire. These youngsters who the media are raving about didn’t have a particularly good time against the Czech Republic, a game they lost 2-1. A few days earlier out in Turkey, Eddie scored a brace and Nelson made it three as they won 3-2. But let the media gush over the young British players at other clubs because they’ll be the ones under the spotlight whilst ours can enjoy going about their career quietly.

In other international fixtures, Pepe scored as the Ivory Coast beat DR Congo 3-1 in a friendly, Torreira played the full match as Uruguay beat Peru 1-0 and Kolasinac got through ninety minutes as Bosnia & Herzegovina beat Finland 4-1. Captain Xhaka helped his team to a defeat against Denmark. Xhaka did force a fine save from Schmeichel apparently. Should the Swiss team lose again this week, they might just find themselves missing out on Euro 2020. Good eh as that would mean a free summer to find a new club. Lol

Arsenal women lost yesterday too, against Chelsea 2-1. Not good.

I guess Alexandre Lacazette will be back in the squad for the trip to Sheffield, so another problem for Unai Emery to ponder over. We’ve missed his hold up play in my opinion, and his work rate in general. Plus his link up play with Aubameyang.

Our number 9 has been talking to the Arsenal Player about fellow countryman Matteo Guendouzi.

“He is like the younger brother [in the friendship group with me and Auba]!” “We all really have a good relationship, we like to work and to laugh together so it’s really good.

“I’m really happy for Matteo [for being named September Player of the Month], he played really well, he helped the team when we needed him, he is really improving each season so we are all really happy with his performances this month.

“We can see that every top midfielder in the world is like this [in terms of demanding the ball and being brave]. They all want to take the ball.

“Matteo has a good ambition, he wants to be one of the best players in his position so every day he is trying to be the best and this month he showed that he can be.”

Big praise but earned I think as between Xhaka and Guendouzi, it’s the younger of the two who is having an impact on our game. Positively I mean. In fact Aubameyang apart, it’s the younger players who are shining in what I think is a very dull period for Arsenal.

The internet/blogsphere in general is quiet. Certainly HH is and it’s like we’ve run out of things to say about our club. International football doesn’t help I know, but for me, everything seems to remain the same but it’s Unai Emery doing rather than Arsene Wenger. Certain players are doing well, but as a group, it’s all still a bit of a mismatch. A bit like going home after a boot sale with two or three items you simply couldn’t sell. Whereas we’d probably hand the items to a local charity or bin them, Arsenal are stuck with them. There’s another boot sale in January though….

Anyway, hopefully the return of Lacazette, Bellerin, Holding and Tierney after this break will spice things up a bit. Both for Arsenal and here on HH because unlike Arsene Wenger, I’m not going to keep going for twenty two years, not when after ten I know it’s heading south…

It’s a shame but a true reflection of the way things are . Our season hasn’t really started although we are in the middle to end of October . The interruptions just take the wind out of the sails Just as you get started it’s time to stop again and all impetus is lost.
We started in August , had a couple of weeks off in September played a few more and stopped in October and coming up we will be stopping again in November . The season as we know it is becoming so disjointed that people will start to lose interest and then their golden goose may start to tarnish and they will find out it was brass all along.

Couldn’t agree more Potter. Something needs to change with international football imo, what or how though is the question but it’s ruining the domestic game.

Good luck to Wrighty, if he needs the money he should go ahead. Personally, any programme with “celebrity” in the title is anathema to me, but each to his own.

I totally agree about the burgeoning number of international breaks, they disrupt the club season and deflect the fans interest away from their chosen team.

Obviously FIFA and UEFA, just like C List “celebrities” need to make some money and they have only one product to flog, and that’s football, so they’ll carry blithely on and flog it to death.

Good post rico, must be hard keeping going during these boring breaks. Only saw second half but it was dire, I suddenly thought maybe watching Arsenal isn’t so bad this season. Then I remembered mostly it is, because we don’t play more than one half as a team.

  5. rico says:

Thanks Andrew. Funny how after all the talking up of England not so long ago, they have gone backwards.

Ha ha re Arsenal. Sad but true.

  6. Cicero says:

The game tonight should be interesting if only to see how the officials and players react to the racist abuse which will almost certainly be aimed at some of our players.

There is a set of protocols in force for such eventualities. On being made aware of any abuse, the referee must stop play and call for an announcement over the public address system calling for the abuse to stop. After restarting the game, in the event of the abuse continuing, the referee must take the players off the pitch and have the announcement repeated.

After a break of between five and ten minutes the game will be restarted, but if the abuse again continues the referee must take the players off the pitch and abandon the match.

The players are free to advise the ref that they have been subjected to abuse and it is for the referee to take action in accordance with the above protocol. What they must not do is unilaterally decide to leave the pitch, an a tion which will see the game awarded to Bulgaria.

I loved your Xhaka comment! Did you see his comical free kick with Lichtsteiner?! Talk about the chuckle brothers! Can’t believe Lichtsteiner was once on our books! Can’t believe Xhaka still is…..
Oh another boring England game.. rather watch my fingernails grow.. ready to be bitten next Monday at 8pm 😉

    Thanks Sue.

I’m a big fan of Wrighty too so I’m hoping he goes in the jungle. He must be mad though. Didn’t see the Swiss game, it’s bad enough watching Xhaka play for us, I don’t need more punishment. Lol

  9. Sue says:

    Punishment 😆 nice one!!
3-0 now.. they’re world beaters once more.. I’ve given up listening to Hoddle drooling over Kane & Winks… seen more than enough.. rather watch the walking dead 😂

  10. Cicero says:

At four nil down with step three of the new protocol waiting in the wings, step three being the abandonment of the match, what’s the betting that the home supporters will do their best to get the referee to move to step three?

  11. Le Coq Monster says:

Nice one El Rico…………………………..If Wrighty is in it then I`ll be watching, love the man !

Mind you I`d like to see a programme where sexless frustrated men go into a jungle full of Nymphomaniacs !……………………..It would be right up my street in………………….I`m Celebate Get Me In There ! 😆
