Wow! An Arsene Apology!! New signing close, very close confirms Wenger?

Morning all.

Thank goodness for Mark Clattenburg eh, Francis Coquelin escaped seeing red and right at the end of the game, a stone wall penalty for Leicester was waved away which left us stealing our first point of the season. Normally, a point away from home against the current Premier League Champions would be something to be proud of but no, not this season and especially after thumping them the last time the two sides met at the King Power Stadium.

Win lose or draw, there’s more going on at the club than just results. Our style of football, the squad balance, the approach, the body language of certain players, it’s bad, very bad. And then there’s the way Wenger behaves in front of a camera, which is perhaps even worse.

Does he think it’s funny to tell the Arsenal fans during an interview that he’s sorry Rob Holding didn’t cost £55 million? We can all see with our own eyes that he’s going to be a very good player but throwing him into a bear pit and expecting him to play each week is simply a disaster waiting to happen. One injury or red card for Laurent Koscielny and it’s back to playing the rookies together which imo, is a shocking prospect!

‘It is a bit surprising that we come out of a football match and we do not speak about the football, we speak about money’. he said.

Well that’s because there’s less than two weeks left in this transfer window and he still hasn’t signed a defender and striker, the two positions we are terribly short in, and the two positions he said he would sign players for. Experienced players! And what about a winger, a proper winger?

That’s why he keeps getting asked about money and transfers, because he’s so ridiculously tight, the squad is short, and the rest of the players together with the fans are the ones who suffer.

If I buy you for £45m tomorrow, does it mean I have done well? If I listen to you then I will have done well because I spent the money, but spending the money in itself is not the quality.

Spending the money and getting a top player; that is different and we are ready to do that.

Same old same old, ‘we are ready to do that’! Well why wasn’t he ready at the beginning of the summer, (insert any year of the last ten) you know, to have the squad strong, deep, prepared and ready for the long challenge ahead? No, only young, ambitious, smart and dynamic managers do that don’t they and Arsene Wenger isn’t one of those is he because if he was, he’d have had Francis Coquelin off that pitch as quick as anything, especially after getting away with a second booking….

As for the ‘I’d spend £300m if I had it and we found the right player’ – well that’s almost laughable as he can’t even manage to spend some of the money he does have, not yet anyway and with all the rubbish he spouts about having many strikers or rather, players who can play in that position, does he even intend to sign a striker before this transfer window closes?

He might think he’s being clever, but he’s not, he’s an embarrassment to all things Arsenal once stood for and the sooner he’s gone, the better!

Transfer gossip:

Yacine Brahimi is the latest player linked to Arsenal.

“Yes we are close [to another signing],” Wenger told BT Sport.

Yippee!!

Not only is the Rob Holding comment funny as hell …It is absolutely true.

Who should he spend the money on who ..wants to come…whose club will allow them to come…and is better then what we already have. Why don’t you give us some specifics instead of your stupid and very general opinions.

So drawing the current champions at their home is doesn’t warrant a solid effort because we beat them twice last year??? WOW

  2. Bradster says:

    Morning all,

I always wondered why we didn’t go more with the over the bus ‘Song’ chips. There seems to be a small space of no man’s land between the keeper and the bus that I think we can exploit if we just practice the timing and finishing. Most like the over the shoulder volley.

The bus is deep but still tries to play the off side trap. The keeper needs to be deep/ on his line to allow for the defensive line to manoeuvre.

  3. Bradster says:

Hmmm Crispen, that comment was narrow sighted from Wenger. Not only did he need a replacement in defense last season after resting Merts after winning the world cup and playing Monreal. We all knew he was past it after his poor performance at the end of the season before that.
Come the transfer window and Wenger buys a 20 year old championship player when an experienced player is needed as a starter.
So now, 2 weeks into the league, 2 weeks left to buy, there’s carp about no one available.

  4. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good morning lovelies and hunkies.

A post in touch with reality Rico lady boss.

Desperate times call for desperate signings…..and desperate measures.

Holding was great yesterday. I like the lad’s attitude and commitment.

  5. allezkev says:

Have we moved on from 12 months ago Rico, because I think we’ve gone backward…?

Holding is good, but what of Chambers?

ManCity, ManUre and Chelsea are already in the groove and I suspect that they’ll all do more transfer business and improve this window.
So we’re already fighting it out with Liverpool, Spuds, Hull (?), a.n.other for 4th spot it seems…

  6. Kel says:

Nice post sums up my thoughts, how arrogant of wenger to say that about holding.. I mean ffs we can all see the kid is a decent player, but we can also see that he’s very raw he needs eased in and protected.

One thing confirmed yesterday is chambers has dropped further down the list. A nice kid no doubt but I said it as did many when we bought him 16m?? Wtf…I personally would have signed van dijk who was available for 10m from celtic at the same time.

So 5pts behind the big boys already is really not surprising. As someone on here said before you may not win the league in August but you can certainly lose it.

For me wenger has already conceded the title the crying over the Pogba deal told me all i needed to know that was the beginning of the excuses…we can’t compete etc…

  7. allezkev says:

Yes Coach, Holding did very well, he just needed an old head alongside him as a guiding hand, the fact he didn’t have that on day one was the managers fault, or in the minds of an AKB – bad luck…

  8. Hell Raising Devil says:

I am impressed by Holding. And if treated carefully he will be an international by two years time.

But don’t give up on Chambers….he has potential as well. But needs to be given confidence….which seemingly AW is not giving him.

  9. Bradster says:

I wish Wenger would try something different against park the bus. I personally feel we can drop a midfielder for a striker as the game doesn’t get played by the opposition in midfield, as the play one or 2 winger/striker counter attack.

  10. Wavy says:

I can only think that when he says ,”hoo can wi bi hoo is bettah van wot wiv got,” he is referring to players we have who never play, Akpom, Bielik, etc etc, and if he buys quality replacements will the new players be any better? However, if he doesn’t trust the ‘reserve’ players to play, how will he ever find out. Where once he gave youth a chance now, it seems he is only happy to own them and loan them. Prime examples, Campbell and Gnarbry plus some!

It’s no way to run a squad and keep it happy imo. If either Alexis or Ozil leave this window there will be such disallusion amongst the supporters that I think it may lead to him being, sacked. That is a thing that I would never even considered even six months ago.

Shocking, shocking football being directed by what seems to have become a shocking, shocking, manager.

Time for a change and the time is now!

Morning, all. Sunny and bright here, albeit a bit of a chilly wind.

  11. Kel says:

I wouldn’t give up on him either devil…. but he needs to go somewhere else and find his feet he should have stayed with Southampton tbh…

  12. Hell Raising Devil says:

Chavs have offered £25 mill for 31 year old Chiellini.

So £30 mill for Mustafi who is 24 is a steal.

    Why haggle then?

  13. allezkev says:

Coach, I didn’t think that Chambers should go out on loan, I thought that he should stay and fight for his place, but now I think a seasons loan away from the toxicity of Arsenal would do him good.
He needs a regular game with the spotlight being on him.

Then we could see how he is in 12 months, maybe a different coach/ manger is what he needs in the short term?

  14. Alex says:

    Very very disgracefull manager.Very.
So obsessed with bargain leave the team exposed to bear bones. All this is to wait the last minute of TW and see what is left.
We tried everything believe you me is the rethoric.

Thought his silly attitude of 70 min replacing players has changed ……..no look what that hell he was doing yesterday when Coquelin is on yellow and knackered still ………

There is nothing left to respect this pensioner.

Just go and any manager can do much.much better.

  15. Simon says:

    Good day everyone,

Wenger is now a senior citizen in football… Why can’t he leave? Why? Obviously we can see that he is out of touch and he doesn’t have ambition anymore. All he cares about is money because he is so scared that when he dies no one will be there to support his family… Stupid insurance company way of looking at things…why can’t we supporters at least come up with a serious campaign to get him the retirement which was due to him about 10 seasons ago? Can we do something? Or we can getting frustrated like this day in day out?
I really don’t understand how supporters in England are able to take this nonsense????? I really don’t..Disgusting!!!!!!!!

One league win in every 7 years….you call that most successful manager? Really??????

  16. scottfromoz says:

    Morning all.
Watching Arsenal TV this arvo,i saw the interview of Wenger.
One line hit like a bolt of lightning.
It s along the lines of how the clubs transfer dealings had built the club to where it is today, and that shouldn’t be ignored.
It showed me he’s so proud of where the club now sits as a business-I believe he has every right to be-that he’s stuck on how to take the next move, or has allowed his ego to not allow any deviation from that strategy.
Either way, I can’t see much changing.
    It only took one line.

  17. rico says:

Thanks Scott, couldn’t do it without you all though and Wath of course who allows me to have a holiday each year… 😉

I get what Wenger is saying but football isn’t a business – it’s about winning and had he won more, the ‘business’ would be even better off both financially and globally…

  18. rico says:

Arsene Wenger has been an “absolute shambles” in the current transfer window says the Daily Mirror chief football writer John Cross.

The Arsenal manager has made just three first-team signings this summer, bringing in defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka, forward Takuma Asano and young defender Rob Holding.

This has led to anger among fans who feel more reinforcements are needed, and Cross, speaking on the Sunday Supplement sympathises with those supporters, saying the manager has made some big errors in the last few months.

“I think the worry is for Arsenal and for Wenger is the disconnect between the manager and the club and the fans is growing ever deeper,” Cross said. “I’ve always been a huge admirer of Wenger, but he really has lost me over this window. I think he’s been an absolute shambles.

“I think it’s been poor management, poor planning and I do think Arsenal fans have every right to be fed-up, frustrated and to voice their concerns.

“It’s been a disaster for Arsenal this transfer window because I do think at the end of last season there was a bit of a talk of a revolution with talks of three or four out and three or four in, major changes, and they fell short.

“Yes, they were second in the table but to actually challenge and, particularly with the Manchester clubs bringing in two superstar managers, major change and major surgery was required.

“You go through the summer and their only major signing has been Granit Xhaka and it’s just not enough. They need a striker, they started the summer by needing a centre-half and why-oh-why every year, do Arsenal go into August, something of a mess, a bit of a shambles, trying to drive a hard bargain on August 31.”

Arsenal held current Premier League champions Leicester to a 0-0 draw on Saturday evening and Wenger took out his transfer window frustrations on the press, but Cross feels Wenger could be heading for an exit.

“It looks like Wenger’s tenure is coming to an end and it’s been a wonderful 20 years but football has moved on and Arsenal and Wenger have been left in the past and this summer illustrates that,” Cross added.

“It wasn’t too bad yesterday and drawing at the defending champions as a one off result, you have to say isn’t a bad return. It’s in the wider context of things that Arsenal fans are fed up with.

“We were told that they were moving to the Emirates to go and compete with the big European super powers and as such, that just hasn’t happened. It is so clear that Arsenal needed an experienced, top quality centre-half and a striker and they haven’t addressed that issue.

“It is all well and good for Wenger to say he is on a one-man crusade against the transfer market escalating prices and that is very admirable, but actually it is poor planning because if you had gone out and got someone like Shkodran Mustafi at the beginning of the window, he wouldn’t be under this pressure that he is now.

“People look behind the scenes at their scouting and people making the transfers and trying to make deal, I don’t think it’s particularly their fault. I think it all comes down to the manager being dithering.”

  19. Bradster says:

I see Sturridge is grumpy he can’t play c.f. and needs to adapt to Klopp’s system and will probably still sit plank anyway when Mane is fit.

We could use a c.f. like him but it’ll be a RVP, Rosicky, Diaby situation.
I think his problem is like Michael Owen’s, because he’s quick and tricky he doesn’t get involved much unless to counter attack, so he could go a few minutes not moving much and then required to Sprint flat out and then gets injured.

  20. kelsey says:

    Happy Birthday Rico.

If John Cross writes this ,one has to take notice.he has always been on the inside at Arsenal.maybe they have chucked him out like robson, henry, viera etcc

Playing le Coq and Granit together is waiting for an accident to happen, for one Flamini you get two (red cards)

Subs again at the wrong time and le Coq should have been first off.

Take Kos off the field and I feel we would have lost.

The worst thing is that since the window opened most of us knew how things will pan out.even if he buys now, the mental damage will be enormous and Sanchez will be giving his future a very hard thiink and we will get the goods on sale.

  21. Wavy says:

    Happy birthday dear HH
    Happy birthday to you
    Happy birthday dear HH
    Happy birthday to you
    (You all know the tune!)

Well done Rico a massive effort from you and an organ for our gripes and applause for ,post things Arsenal.

Shall we be singing the same song for Wenger’s 67th with passion, feeling and admiration? Or will the last line be:

    It’s time to go!

I have to say I’m still really disgruntled by the club’s inertia. Will there be a silver lining before the end of the month or will the masses rise up against the dithering (I like that description,) stubborn old git and have him removed?

He should change or be changed. Simple as……….!

  22. rico says:

    Thanks you three…

Kelsey, I think Cross likes to think he knows what’s going on at the club, but imo, he’s just another journalist giving his opinion.. One I agree with on this occasion…

  23. andrewh1313 says:

Congrats Rico and HB Highbury House. Unfortunately the website name brings back memories of standing and sitting there watching John Radford, George Armstrong, Charlie George, Dennis Bergkamp, Henry, Adams, Wright, Limpar, Petit, Vierra, Pires ….
Even Swartz, Helder, Platt, Marinello, Marriner and McDonald!

But times move on except in AW’s case, and your excellent post today sums it all up. Had a very pro-Arsene fan in the week say, he just cannot defend any more, he’s sick at things and AWs attitude. Crying shame, could have left after our second FA Cup win and been remembered so fondly for the great days.

  24. Le Coq Monster says:

    Thanks Rico !.

“young, ambitious, smart and dynamic managers”…..not sure about , have they got to be young ?……Maureens not so young, but he`s all the rest, so is Pep and as for Conte, he just has young new hair which aint his !. hahaha
These managers have been looking at the clubs they went to long before they officially got the jobs and unlike Wenger who cant see the wood for the trees, they could see the problems, identified them and have bought class players to rectify the problems and all are better tactical coaches than Wenger ………………not sure any of them were concerned about Gladys the tea lady and her monthly wage !.

Listen Kroenke you bastard !……………tell Arsene to concentrate on the football and what players he needs and nothing else !…………acts like he owns the club !

  25. allezkev says:

Yep, Wednesday, August 31st, according to Sky Sports…

That mean we have just 10 days to conclude any business, so a defender in and that’s it…

Tried to sign Vardy, so Wenger thought we needed a striker back then.
What has happened since to make him change his mind..?

  26. frednerk says:

Well Done Rico and still Doing.

I thought Arsene was taking the Piss
    300mil for a player comment,
after slagging the Manc’s the other
    week.
Ambition seems to have passed him by.
It’s not my money ..He Say’s
We all know that this one and that one
ain’t worth the millions..he moans about.
But like John Cross has said…..
It’s all moving on again this season
and Arsene is trying to play down
    his water-tight arse,ethic’s
With his new line….It’s not my money.

I’m afraid the only way he will listen
is if the fans rebel..some how.

  27. Joaquim Moreira says:

The top 3 candidates are already in the first 3 places.
It seems to me that the title is already a mirage.
Same as always: football very “tracery” misplaced players, late replacements, fortunately that Coquelin was not sent off, TW plays 20 minutes and disappears, Ox is a good half part and then disappears, a few shots and to grow the opponent, to end with the “rope on the neck.” I think It wasn’t a penalty.
The confidence are in the low levels.

  28. kelsey says:

I don’t think AW has lost the dressing room, more that he just can’t motivate anymore and still doesn’t know who his best players are and remember again we don’t know who else will get injured,as history proves that point.

If you are being paid 8 million a year plus bonuses just to finish in the top 4 then your employer is not setting the right goal.

I think it may finally all go horribly wrong this season and in a perverse way I hope it does, the only thing that might spoil that is Kroenke himself.

  29. rico says:

    Thanks Andrew..

That’s what I really struggle to understand. Early bid for Vardy and then nothing… Can’t say anyone in this squad should have made him change hi mind about signing a striker…

  30. Wath says:

Campbell gets loaned out and Theo gets a new contract………. truly gob-smacking, Campbell shows more hunger and commitment that Theo and Ox put together yet gets cast aside. Akpom will be next out the door to make room for postman Sanogo…

Happy Birthday Rico, could of sworn you were older than 6…. 😀

  31. Wath says:

Wonder if Gnabry will be treated as crappy as Campbell has been Kev..?
If I was Campbell i’d be relieved to be out of the clutches of the nutty dictator… Good luck to him.

  32. scottfromoz says:

Wenger buys Campbell….fans aren’t impressed at the time.
Loan spell after loan spell…..finally, the kid gets a chance and, according to pretty much everybody, does well, and works hard.
    No he’s off again?
I truly don’t understand Wengers motive.
He keeps guys like Theo who truly is a luxury player at best, and on 3 times the wages.
This isn’t arrogance, though I don’t know what it is, exactly.
    Ridiculous?
    Inexplicable?
    Lunacy?
    Daft?

  33. kelsey says:

Maybe Stan will ask for lottery Funding as our bank balance is iffy 🙂

How many players have now left, sold or gone out on loan.It must be at more than ever, then add the long term injuries to Pers and Welbeck and Ramsey (who knows)

If you didn’t know better one would think there was a mission going on to do badly this season

  34. Joaquim Moreira says:

Mane was never in our minds?
    Campbell is a sportig player
Ever Defoe is interesting for us…

  35. rico says:

I’ve given up trying to work out what goes on in Wenger’s brain Scott and I don’t think even he does… He’s lost it big time…..

  36. andrewh1313 says:

Dithering, Dictator, Deluded! How did it come to this! I feel we are a very moderate sensible bunch on here compared with most football forums. And yet most of us feel at least one if not two of the above to be true?

  37. allezkev says:

Wath, with only 10 days to go, unless Arsene is gonna pull a rabbit out of his hat, I can’t see any alternative to Gnabry…

Akpom isn’t on the bench anymore, so AW certainly doesn’t see him as an option in the short term, so it’s Giroud, Alexis, Walcott and Gnabry. Doesn’t do it for me mate..!

  38. andrewh1313 says:

Kelsey, I was at a very impressionable age when my dad took me to see Marinellos’ debut, so with his long locks and pretty boy face, I believed he was the next George Best. Shoot magazine photos on wall, prize football stickers, he was my hero for a few weeks. Mind you, unless my memory plays tricks, he did take on and beat more defenders in three games I saw him, than Walcott does in a season!

  39. allezkev says:

Not sure Rico, Hertha Berlin were linked to him, but what would be the sense in sending both Campbell and Gnabry out on loan unless Wenger was certain of bringing a striker/forward in…?

Although if wouldn’t really surprise me if Wenger plans to go into the season, post transfer deadline, with just Giroud, Alexis and Walcott.

    It’s laughable… ?

  40. Wath says:

Rico, now you are having a laugh, shouldn’t selling Theo have made a space for a proper player…? Why couldn’t we sell Theo, cos his salary is to high…!!
Andrew, seems some still think us who regard him a a ditherer, dictator and deluded are in the minority…! Must wear the same bins as wenger or at least as out of touch with reality as he is..!

  41. Wath says:

    Kev, please don’t ignore Sanogo….!

Amazing that we’re now told that the media highly influence the fans….. Oh really and did the same person not say a few weeks back that Arsenal fans are intelligent and knowledgeable…? We don’t need the media to highlight anything that we can plainly see with our own eyes….! just a shame the bloke making these comments can’t see it all with his own eyes or at least take notice of what he see’s rather than go into denial…..

  42. Obi says:

Crispen here is how bad the problem is. Before the Liverpool game I was more than confident of an Arsenal win because Liverpool imho is crap, we let in 4 goals and lost. Yesterday they lost to Burnley 2-0. Leceister lost a depleted Hull team. I would like to believe we are better than Burnley and Hull. Btw, were you convince by that performance yesterday? Honestly.

  43. Lewis says:

    Campbell has gone then?!

I foresee the cheer of ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ again on Saturday.

  44. Bradster says:

Worst thought for me is that nothing will be done to counter park the bus. Clearly put the team to sleep with passes is only working on putting us to sleep and getting hit on the counter.

  45. allezkev says:

Wath, I will always ignore Sanogo mate…

He is an irrelevance as far as I’m concerned…

Actually Wath, he isn’t just an irrelevance he’s an embarrisment, another example of ego over common sense…

  46. Wath says:

Kev, you surprise me, how can you ignore a player who is clearly part of the managers plans, he was at pains to point out the other day that unfortunately he isn’t available to us due to injury..?
We clearly don’t need a goal scorer at all as we are blessed with such a huge depth of quality strikers..!

  47. allezkev says:

    From Arseblog:

Then he asked about what fans were chanting at the end of the game about spending money. On the Arsenal website his response is:

“We are highly influenced by the media so that’s part of the process today.”

    What he actually said was:

“They are highly influenced by the media so that’s part of the process today.”

If anything, I would say sections of the media – particularly those who are always looking for a juicy headline or something to twist the knife – are more influenced by fans. But to say people who want the team to improve, to be more competitive, to be better, are only doing so because the media run stories about Arsenal spending money is ridiculous.

I can only speak for myself, but my opinion on the team is based entirely on what I see happen on the pitch. When I see a team that has needed a striker look toothless and impotent in attack, I’m highly influenced by that. When I see a team that needs the centre of its defence strengthened concede four goals at homr, I’m highly influenced by that. When I see a league table that shows us with one point from six; when I see the Arsenal accounts that leave us in no doubt there is a lot of money to invest in the team; when I see a title challenge fall apart in a season we should have won the league; I’m highly influenced by that.

I don’t need newspapers, pundits, commentators or anybody else to tell me what needs to be done at Arsenal. All I want is for the team to be as good as it can be, for the club to show a genuine ambition and desire to win, and for the resources we’ve worked hard for and sacrificed so much to generate to be used to that end. If we fall short at that point, I’d be a lot more understanding.

  48. allezkev says:

Wath, I really don’t know what to say…

    Did Wenger actually say that..?!!!

    Fcuk me, we’re doomed…

  49. Micko says:

Well at least Campbell can leave with his head held high, always busted a gut, had a good World Cup a couple of seasons back and wasn’t given the chance he deserved, only got his opportunity last season due to Sanchez getting injured and really stepped up to the mark for us…..good luck to him.

Le Coq 1.10, Shane Warne must be a worried man, Conte is coming for him, the new face of Advanced Hair Studio’s lol.

  50. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Evening Lovelies and Hunkies.

Many of you here commented on yesterday’s performance or lack of it in the attacking department.

No one….I repeat no one asked this question…..did we loose anything by not signing Vardy and Mahrez???

I feel we dodged a bullet with them both. 60million between them combined??? don’t make me laugh. if we were crap in the attacking department yesterday…..these two were shit bags.

  51. Hell Raising Devil says:

Kos and Holding had Vardy in their pocket while Mahrez could not shake off Nacho.

Leicester had only 1 shot on target in the entire game…….that shows how bad they were.

We had 5. We are still in pre season mode I feel.

  52. Le Coq Monster says:

Campbell goes on loan and Sanogo is kept !……………doesn`t surprise me, Ya Ya is a potential world class Yo Yo player, yes he will have his ups and downs, but like masturbating in a lift………………… it`s wrong on so many different levels !.

Maybe it`s that Arsene is charitable and sees the EPL as a handicap league and likes to give the usual suspects a 5 point start !.
Have to agree the point put forward as to what has changed if Wenger thought we needed a striker with the Steptoe bid !
Each season he gets worse whether it`s hypocritical, contradicting, naive or just his arrogance and it will get worse as he gets older !………….unless the dementia sets in and he cant remember where he left the cheque book……….fuck !!

  53. Bradster says:

I agree devil. A combination of a new entity that the teams weren’t prepared for and the luck of just putting your head down and shooting as hard as you can.
This season teams know them and there will be opportunities where a striker’s finish is required and you cannot just put your laces through it.
I like Marez, he has the skills we need on the wing but not at the proposed price.

  54. Hell Raising Devil says:

I was against the purchase of Vardy from the beginning. I always said I don’t think he will be right for our club.

Mahrez I was sort of 50/50. I enjoyed seeing him play last season…..but whenever he faced us he was always quiet. Last year twice….this year once.

  55. Joseph says:

Its the first time john cross has spoken some sense. The tide is turning, watford to win next weekend and hopefully that will be enough to push mr senile out the door. Sick and tired of the same shite year in year out. Wenger p45.

  56. Bradster says:

Has anyone seem Asano play? Reminds me of a Miyaichi come Park kinda story. The Arsenal way for Asians.

  57. Hell Raising Devil says:

I rate Draxler much more than those two combined.

I would love AW to buy him. honest. he would compliment Ozil and Alexis superbly….whether he plays on the right or as a CF.

I would prefer to spend 40 million on Draxler than any £ on these two

  58. Hell Raising Devil says:

Joseph….are you honestly sure that AW will be pushed away???

you are in for a long wait then mate. Its like waiting for the perfect girl to arrive….you will be a skeleton if she shows up.

  59. Joseph says:

The pressure is starting to tell. When you lose the fans, players not happywith transfer window, when you lose the dressing room, its time to move on, and get a manager in who wants to win, play to your strengths and not players out of position, a manager who is passionate, not someone who shows as much passion as paint drying. We have missed out on ronald koeman would have been ideal for us.

  60. Bradster says:

I think Ox has shown his hand. Has his moments but too often still aimless running with no end product and still fades if a starter.
People are hopeful of Gnabry because he’s forming at the Olympics, involved for 90 mins and seems to be prolific which we are all screaming for at Arsenal right now.

  61. Silky says:

    Good read Rico! Howdy all!!

Congrats on d 6 years dude, 6 years public service ?!

Batshuai looks a baller it’s unreal to think 2/3 years ago he was begging for a £4.5m move to Arsenal as he was a fan! It’s always funny to me that AW always talks about how expensive players are yet refuses to take a chance on d right player! If memory serves correctly West Hams Kouyate begged for a move also, both woulda been cheaper than Chambers who I feel has had his career ruined, hope I’m wrong!

  62. tsgh says:

Rico before Serge’s injury and Lowe opening his mouth about parashooting him into the Wc squad Serge was already showing his class…

  63. frednerk says:

I think some on here are
    being unfair to Arsene.

    He said yesterday that he
    would pay 300million
    for the right player….
Why do some not believe him?

  64. Le Coq Monster says:

Fred……………………….I reckon even Messi or Ronaldo may be enticed at £300M and I think that one of them will be signed in the dying seconds of the transfer window because …………..In Arsene I Thrust !…………….I`m sure he dropped the soap deliberately ! hahaha

  65. Rick says:

    Evening Rico and the House.
Congrats on your birthday Rico. Although I cannot post as often as I use to
I do start my day with a visit to the House for my daily pick me up, and I look forward to seeing many more great posts.

Rico if you recall about a month ago I said Arsene would have to sell before he could/ would buy The departure of Campbell leaves us with 23 players over 21
which means he can now bring in a C/F and C/H. but he will have get rid of another player if he is to sign a winger( like some of you are saying)and this is where things have gone wrong
Under new rules loans can only take place during the T/W which means he has only 10 days to wave goodbye to Sanogo, But unfortunately due to his injury he will not be able to loan or sell him during this window.
    Be back Later

  66. rico says:

I know Ts and many admired him at the time, but Wenger is ruining him. Just like he does so many….

Evening Rick, thanks… I recall you saying that about spaces, just sack Sanogo or dump him in the reserves, then he won’t count….

  67. Wath says:

Hi Rick, have to agree with Rico, why would the waste of space even take up a space…!?!? Ah because Arsene showed faith in buying him in the first place… Can’t drop him then he’s deemed wrong.
The bloke highlights yet again everything wrong within the set up of the club.

  68. Bradster says:

That doesn’t make sense Rick. We got rid of 3 players and Merts will be added in Jan, Signed 2 under 20 years old, a non permit Jap and Xhaka. We should still have 2 spots and now that Campbell left 3 spots already.

  69. rico says:

Wath, he was free, that’s why the idiotic Frenchman signed him… What he’s still doing at the club is unbloodybelieveable!

  70. Bradster says:

Unless he’s including Chambers in the squad. He’s 21, but English so I dunno or perhaps Debuchy or Gnabry.

  71. kelsey says:

Rick @6.22. If that is correct why didn’t he do this when the window opened and does loaning out count or is it based as to who pays the salary ?

Rico by the way do you ever here from Avenell ?

I just read on another site” Get German Football ‏@GGFN_ 3h3 hours ago
Shkodran Mustafi has been included in the Valencia squad for tomorrow’s LaLiga fixture against Las Palmas”

  72. rico says:

I wonder if the Mustafi stuff is all a puff of wind…

Maybe some who has played at the Olympics is set to sign but no one wanted to distract him/them… 🙂

  73. frednerk says:

    Remember a story about
    Karen Brady joining west ham
After a couple of day’s settling in,
she wanted to know who done what,
and one story came out about a driver
    on £70,000 a year,Karen went around
asking who he was and who knew him.
Anyway turns out he only done one drop
    off a season….True .

Can you imagine if we succeeded in
signing her a few years ago.

Arsene who are all these players
on £50,000 a week most of them
    never play.

  74. rico says:

Always hope Brady would be on the Arsenal board Fred, she’s ruthless and ambitious…

    A gooner too isn’t she?

    Don’t be Kelsey, I’m not….

  75. kelsey says:

Arsene Wenger hopes Arsenal’s signing of Shkodran Mustafi ‘will be done’ before deadline
    By Lyall Thomas

    Last Updated: 21/08/16 5:41pm
    the emphasis is on HOPES

  76. Wath says:

She’s an Arsenal supporter Fred, no way would we employ her Arsene would be having none of being held accountable hence he had the final say on Gazidis…! He refused 2 before that..!

  77. Le Coq Monster says:

WENGER HOPES MUSTAFI ‘WILL BE DONE’

Arsene Wenger has admitted he hopes Arsenal’s signing of Shkodran Mustafi “will be done” before the transfer deadline.

Sky Germany reported in July that the Gunners had opened talks with Valencia to make the Germany international their new defensive signing.

And he told French TV station SFR Sport: “Mustafi? We hope it will be done He is one of a number of players we are looking at. Negotiations are ongoing.”

I bet none of the …..”number of players we are looking at”….. are strikers !.

  78. Le Coq Monster says:

All through this long window and be honest through the end of last season aswell, he knew we needed a CB and a striker, especially a striker before Merts and Gabs got injured and had they not got injured our signing`s for the summer would be Xhakakhan, Japanese geezer and Holding ……………….plus no fucking anyone else !……………..Vardy was a personnel want for Wenger, he`d have taken him home and played out real life Steptoe acts in his bedroom !……………….”You dirty old man !”

  79. rico says:

I’m off guys. Might even go to bed as having to watch ‘the battle of the robots’ really doesn’t appeal to me….

    Night all…..

  80. Rick says:

    Wath your 6.36
I agree with you and Rico and I have no doubt so will Kev.
No way should he take up a spot but if he is here on 1st Sept he will be included

  81. Wath says:

Rick, Imagine Sep 1st and Sanogo is included, the grief Wenger leaves himself open to as to his “only bringing in people of better quality”… he will get absolutely slaughtered, this being a player Ajax returned from a loan spell as he was deemed utterly useless…! Going to be an interesting 10 days although to me like most have said, does it really matter who he brings in as the way we so predictable and one dimensional it really matters not….

  82. Micko says:

Fred 6.11, as usual your on the money, would love to know how many on here could hold their hand up and say they’ve spent a day at London Colney watching the players train, got no reason to disbelieve Arsene, just maybe there isn’t anyone out there better.

Tsgh, Serge burst on the scene and looked the mutts nuts, broke into the first team, played a part in our CL campaign and then broke down, could never understand why we loaned him out and was even more suprised when it didn’t work out, judging on last nites performance he’d definately get the nod from me to take a penalty over Ozil.

  83. Rick says:

Brad Please don’t take this the wrong way this is how things stand.
Last season we had 26 players over 21 but with Chessny and Martinez on loan we played with a 24 man squad,
When they returned at the end of the season and with the signing of Granit the total rose to 27 and the departure of Tomas Flamini and Arteta it dropped to 24 which it remained untill Campbel left on loan.

Now the Rules state that a player who was under 21 on the 1st jan 2016 is eligible to play in P/L and Champs League as a under 21 player for the coming season and there is no requirement for him to be included in the 25 Man squad
Under this rule Bellerin,Holding,Chambers,Gnabry and Akpom will not be in the squad but will play as U21 players

As it stands our present squad is as follows.
Home produced, Martinez, Gibbs. Jenks, Ramsey, J W, Coquelin, The Ox ,Wellbeck and Theo.(toatal 9)

Foreign Players, Ospina, Cech, Debuchy Monreal, Merts,Gabby, Kossy Granit,Ozil ,Eleney, Santi, Alexis,Sanogo Giroud (total 14)
This means he can sign 2 Players Get rid of Dubuchy and Sanogo make it 4
    .
Common sense isn’t it but I bet it will noy happen

  84. Wath says:

Thanx Rick, The mere fact we’re even writing the name Sanogo as part of an Arsenal squad is beyond pathetic isn’t it…!

Night all, enjoy the rst of your evening.

  85. Micko says:

Rick, Debuchy will be doing everything in his powers for a move away, we’re stuck with the postman, he’ll be too busy showing off his operation scar to everybody ! Two in before September and it’ll be a bloody miracle.

    Nite Gooners.

  86. Joaquim Moreira says:

Moustaffi – loan Jenkinson or sell Debuchy?
Sissoko on 🙂 ; Gnaby on ioan
A new central forward (Morata, Higuain… are impossible now) – sell Sanoko (who wants him ?)
3 new players replace 3 others players

  87. Lee says:

Apparently in 44 days Walcott will be the longest serving player ever under Wenger. wtf

Sending Joel Campbell out for his 5th loan….while Sanogo is still an Arsenal player. wtf

Vieira believes Wenger should be doing more to involve former players who previously enjoyed success under him in order to inspire Arsenal’s younger players.

“I’m disappointed not to have ex-Arsenal players working at Arsenal,” Vieira explained.

“It is good for the young players could see a Thierry Henry, a [Freddie] Ljungberg, or a [Martin] Keown who have been at the club a good few years working in the academy, or working somewhere.

“I think they can do it a bit more, players want to do it but do not have the opportunity.

“I don’t understand it, the perfect example is Ajax. You see all the old players working for the club, on the field, in the office – the door is always open for them – but Arsenal don’t do it and I don’t know why.”

“Everyone talks about Arsenal bringing players in but they need to stop stockpiling players as well & freshen things up.” – Ian Wright #AFC

    Wenger-logic at it’s best…

  88. Lee says:

Bournemouth fans singing whilst playing their team were playing West Ham at the Olympic Stadium yesterday “Are we at the Emitrates?!”

  89. Lee says:

The Theo Walcott 44 days away from being the longest serving player under Wenger comment epitomises all that is wrong at Arsenal…………. Guardiola doesn’t fancy Hart so it looks like he’s on his bike!

    Wenger just isn’t ruthless enough.

  90. Lewis says:

Good comments from PV04, would love to have him at the helm sometime in the future.

Hope to god he doesn’t go to city!

    Morning all.

  91. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

    Morning Rico Lady Boss.

    Evening Scott.

Reports say that Valencia are demanding Eur50mill for Mustafi. The plot thickens.

I am looking September 2nd. Very much. Then we will have what we have. I hate the TW. I hate AW even more.

And I am not out of the AW OUT Brigade.

I want the club given to the supporters.

  92. rico says:

That Mustafi story must be untrue as he has a get out clause for less that £50M

Agree Lee, he’s far too soft with so many average players…

  93. Hell Raising Devil says:

What would I give to see the board made entirely out of elected supporters of the club.

    President Dennis Bergkamp
    CEO Gilberto Silva
    DOF Bobby Pires
    Manager PAtrick Vieira
    Asst Manager Steve Bould
    Coaches Martin Keown, Tony Adams
Head of Coaching youth Development Thierry Henry
    Academy Coaches….Other ex players

Ok not exactly as above but you get my gist.

  94. scottfromoz says:

No wonder Wenger gets the shits at press conferences….
I’m watching the pre Leicester PC, and the journos ask him the same questions over and over, tag teaming him, taking turns at those same questions.
There is no question that he doesn’t always handle them well, and he should know better than to buy in to their games, but they really are disgraceful.
Damn, I’d grab some of them by the ears and try to shake some sense into them.

  95. rico says:

The media will always ask him the same old questions because he never rectifies the needs of the club. If he did, they’d back off….

  96. Lee says:

Wasn’t Keown “helping out” with the Arsenal defence when we got to the CL final? I suppose he said something that Wenger didn’t like…..

  97. rico says:

Because he’s a frustrated and arrogant old man Scott…

I reckon so too Lee, or he simply didn’t like the glory Keown was getting. Any sensible manager would have kept him on after that CL final but no. He pissed off Bobby then too didn’t he?

  98. potter says:

Stick a broom stick up their arse ????????????????

    Which end first ?

Regarding ex players , I am told that he wants the team to hang on his every word , he even shut Pat Rice up when he told the defence that it wasn’t playing good enough at half time in one match. He only wants his own thoughts to be paramount with no input from anyone that might have better ideas.
You won’t get the club in the supporters hands even the scheme where the club agreed to release some shares ” The fan share ” got gobbled up by Kroenke and disbanded and then he introduced question vetting before shareholder meetings to avoid awkward ones.
The boardroom is run like a third world dictatorship with the junta stomping all over any voice that dares to speak out on anything but the party line.

  99. Milly says:

Ok, I will make a prediction that we will not sign a must have striker and just might loose out on Mustafi due to Wengers can’t accept asking price policy. That we will have a period of good play in the season where we will think that we are on a roll for it to all fall down due to the yearly unexpected injuries to key players and not having the quality in resever to fill the spots. Wenger will be forced to spend some of his money ( sorry club money, I get confused on that subject after he stated that he spends it like its his ) due to the injuries and it will be on a total unknown. In the January sales.

We will be fighting for 4th spot to maintain the business modle for the following season. Go out in the last 16 of the Champions league. Might have a bit of a cup run which will be down to favourable draws not necessarily good play. Job done manager on 8 Mil. Another mediocre season completed.

Ho the joys of being an Arsenal suppporter under Wenger.
