Would you sell Theo Walcott to Liverpool if you were Arsene?

Morning all.

Football is a funny old game. Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has endured a tough season in the Premier League popped up with Germany’s second goal last night having come on from the bench. Mesut Ozil, who according to reports, didn’t have the best of games, was yet again the provider for the goal. Before then, Shkodran Mustafi opened the scoring by heading home a Kroos free-kick, yet he probably wouldn’t even been on the pitch had Mats Hummels been 100% fit. Manuel Neuer was perhaps the main man though having made a string of saves to prevent Ukraine from scoring.

So the favourites got off to a good start, as did Poland and Croatia. Over in the COPA America, Brazil were dumped out of the competition by Peru who won 1-0 thanks to a goal which was clearly scored by foul means…

Today’s fixtures sees Spain take on the Czech Republic, Ireland face Sweden and the final match of the day is between Belgium and Italy. Chile face Panama in the COPA America but I’m not staying up until 01:30 to watch that one, not even Alexis Sanchez will keep me up that late.

The papers are yet again full of pictures showing the ugly side of the Euros as fans continue to fight until the early hours of the morning and yesterday fans of other nations had a bit of a brawl too. It’s ugly and it’s not nice. UEFA have threatened to expel both England and Russia if the fighting continues.

Anyway, Arsenal news is hard to find, other than a headline which suggests Liverpool want to sign Theo Walcott for around the £25 million mark.

If you were Arsene Wenger, would you do this deal?

Finally, my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Orlando. Those who were brutally murdered and their loved ones left behind. Horrific stuff and all because the people having fun inside a nightclub, were gay!

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Rico – “…I’m not staying up until 01:30 to watch that one, not even Alexis Sanchez will keep me up that late…” Shame? Just kidding though. Now you know what I have to do with the early kickoffs in the BPL.

  2. Canadian Gooner says:

Devil – If the Dippers would give us 25 million pounds for Theo, I’d throw in Sanogo for free.

    Morning Rico

    Morning All

I would not sell to Liverpool, and I don’t believe the fee would be as high as £25m anyway.

And knowing how manipulative Walcotts advisors are I suspect that Arsenal would need to pay off Theo anyway, and he’s earned quite enough already for the minimum of return…

As far as the Suarez transfer is concerned Mr Adam, Arsenal and Wenger need to accept a large portion of the blame for the failure of that deal…

A bit more class from us and we might have got a deal through…

Russia in 2018 looks a definate one to avoid…

It has Germany 1936 written all over it complete with fascists running the country.

  4. Wavy says:

CG, more than England are going to be!
TW14 to The dippers, never. He might make a bit of a difference down at Brisbane Road, for a while, at least!
I wouldn’t sell the dippers the sh*t off my shoe! Not even for £25m and £1.

    Morning all. Wet here…….again……miserable.

  5. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – On a more sombre note, the Orlando incident is truly a tragedy. However, the Americans, as a whole, insist on their ‘Constitutional right’? to bear arms. You could see President Obama was yet again frustrated that he has not been able to tighten the very loose gun control laws in the U.S.A. Until that happens they will continue to have horrific incidents like these.

They happen elsewhere in the developed world, but with nowhere near the regularity of the U.S.A.

  6. Hell Raising Devil says:

Great to hear Marshall……I would as well

imo I do not care giving Theo to anyone if we get a better player who works his arse off for the team.

I would give them Theo for 25mill provided we get Mkhitaryan or Mahrez. Personally I would prefer Mkhitaryan as he would not skedaddle off in January for the ACN since MKhitaryan is Armenian. And seeing that Armenia never qualify for any major tournament than its better since he would have a proper rest during the summer.

I will say it again…….Theo would play well till December at most and than revert to type. And he would not be arsed to make an effort

  7. Le Coq Monster says:

Morning all and thanks Rico .

Absolutely !………….always liked Theo, the sort of clean cut guy who I`d love to have as a son-in-law, he`s had his time to develop, but has stagnated, all he has is pace and one of my favourite things in a player is workrate and I`m sorry to say my subuteo players work harder than he does and have better dribbling skillls………….fair enough, you lot would dribble if you had my finger flicking you up the arse !…………………. he has to go !

I look at the lot less pretty Kyle Walker of Knuckledragham, he is nearly as fast, can dribble without the aid of my finger and puts a shift in and he`s a fcuking defender !…………sell Theo, purcahse Kyle and with the cash left over employ a face surgeon to rectify Kyles face !.

    Kev – “…Russia in 2018 looks a definate one to avoid…

It has Germany 1936 written all over it complete with fascists running the country.”

Sadly that appears to be all too true. However, after all the revelations coming out of the raids and arrests at FIFA they should be stripped of those games for bribery. That wont happen unless the public pressures the big non-Russian commercial sponsors. A number of them have already expressed some reservations.

Meanwhile the disgrace at FIFA rumbles on with the old and the ‘new’ regimes. The new doesn’t seem to be any better than the old.

  9. Marshall says:

Sure HRD – as long as we get an upgrade then bye bye Feo.

Lol Rico I feel this dippers sentiments are personal hate those scums too but when it’s business, sell him to them. We might get back at them actually by selling them a washed up player with a stinking attitude.

Once I was in California; try watching an early kickoff from that side of the world. I feel you CG.

  10. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – “Cg, seems this was an ISIS attack rather than just some loony with a gun. They need ridding of and quickly.” ISIS is taking credit for the attack, but there is no definitive link, as yet. He may just be self radicalized or has a pathological hate for gays.

Apparently he was enraged by two gays embracing &/or kissing within sight of his family. We”l just have to wait and see what the investigators find. Either way it is still a sick and tragic incident.

  11. Canadian Gooner says:

Marshall – I’m in the same time zone as California, but just a few hundred miles to the Great White North.

  12. rico says:

We’ll have to agree to differ Marshall… 😉

Ok Cg, thanks – as you say, regardless, it’s a tragedy…

    Trust you Lee… 🙂

  13. Canadian Gooner says:

Lee – No, but you can coat them with nail polish or something similar. They do that here with dried moose droppings and string them into necklaces for the tourists with full disclosure of their point(s) of origin.

  14. Canadian Gooner says:

Regardless of the wee hours of the morning here for kickoff of the first game of the day at the Euros, the real downside is having former Leicester and Tottenscum player Gary ‘Jug Ears’ Lineker as moderator of the pre, half-time and post game analysis on the BBC feed.

  15. Canadian Gooner says:

    New Gunner Kelechi Nwakali?

The official announcement has not yet arrived, despite claims we would have it last week, but everyone seems agreed – Kelechi Nwakali is an Arsenal player. Nigeria won the game against Burundi, 2-1, thanks to this strike from Kelechi and they will now play Sudan in the final round of qualifying for CAF U-20 Cup of Nations that will take place next year.

    http://dailycannon.com/2016/06/kelechi-scores-lovely-free-kick-for-nigeria-u20s/

  16. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – Suffer is definitely the correct term to use with Lineker.

What does your ladyship drink during the hot weather? If not a beer, I prefer a tall cold G&T.

  17. bradster says:

    Morning all,

I’d say sell him. Decent money plus 140 p/w to offer a player that will suit our game.
If the bin dippers manage to play a style that will suit Theo, then good luck to both. But not wanting to play on the wing and not skilled or strong enough up front will be a problem for them too.

  18. Adam says:

I can’t see why it has to be an either/or situation with Theo. I wouldn’t sell him to the scousers but that’s because of the way they tried to humiliate us over Suarez. The man with the ironed face is a shithead as far as I am concerned.

  19. Canadian Gooner says:

Interesting to see the comments of Danny Mills and former Leicester player Robbie Savage about Jamie Vardy’s dithering about signing for The Arsenal. Quite a contrast to that other former Leicester player Gary ‘Jug Ears’ Lineker’s opinions, but he just can’t put aside of his Tottenscum affiliation.

  20. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam – You make a good point, but do Arsenal have to sink to their level of ethics?

I hope not. Surely Arsenal are better than that.

  21. Le Coq Monster says:

I like a cool beer in the heat here in Cornwall !……………..it takes me back to when I first met my wife !……… a hot day at a BBQ in Bethnal Green, I took a look at her with a pint in hand and staggered………. I was half cut………….. and thought ….”what a good looking girl !”, but as the saying goes…….Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder !.

  22. Adam says:

CG. Perhaps not but I tend to hold a grudge. 🙂
Personally, I wouldn’t have that prick Bilic as a commentator either after what he did to Blanc, despite the fact that he is quite honest about what he is seeing. But that’s just me. 🙂

  23. Adam says:

Wavy. It was the WC semi a few years back. Bilic fell to the floor clutching his face after a penalty box scuffle with Laurent Blanc. He pretended that he had been struck in the face when he hadn’t, thereby ensuring that Blanc was sent off and missed the WC final. The footballing authorities were equally culpable as they saw that Bilic’s simulation had cost Blanc a chance to play in such a prestigious match, yet they did nothing. Shameful all round.

  24. Hell Raising Devil says:

I drink wine…..summer or winter. And tbh we get 40 degree temperatures here in the Med during summer. heat or no heat will not see me without tasting the beautifully smooth flavour of the heavenly vino. Red or white makes no difference to me

Bradster has summed it perfectly……Theo’s dilemma of not wanting to play on the wing but not strong enough to play up front will be someone else’ problem.

  25. rico says:

Adam, I just looked that incident up and as much as Bilic made a big deal of it, Blanc definitely hit him in the face… 😉

  26. Wavy says:

Thanks Adam. I remember the incident now. It was, as you say shameful. Typical inert response by the authorities to a cheat and the loss of an innocent player to a game of climactic proportions, for Blanc at least. Rightly or wrongly it didn’t alter the result of the final. The French won. And what happened to the cheating Croat? Zilch.

UEAF,s rule is obviously, don’t let the truth get in the way of an obvious lie. Vis, England supporters guilty of affray despite high tailing it for safety when pursued by a ‘bear’!

  27. Adam says:

Rico. I believe that he might have brushed against his chin and the rest was simulation. I think the press at the time had it right.

  28. Marshall says:

It might have been mentioned earlier but that Modric’s stunner was all sorts of fine! Nobody moved. Those are the one discouraged at the Em’s huh. There’s a stat of how a bunch of them don’t go in blah blah..

  29. Le Coq Monster says:

Hahaha CG !…………..My wife used to read all the crap I write and knows I will write any rubbish to try and have a laugh, for example it was her 60th yesterday and I wrote on her facebook page………………” Happy Birthday to my Darling wife, a hundred and twenty years between us, more than the hundred years war !….and that lasted only a century !………I said I would love you forever and it certainly feels like it !” 😀

  30. Hell Raising Devil says:

Yes Marshall….there is a stat which shows how a bunch of them don’t go in. But there is 100 % true stat in shooting from a distance as well………..if you don’t shoot you can rest assured it will not go in either.

    100% true

  31. Le Coq Monster says:

How about my STAT/FACT !………….there seems to be this idea that teams are either counter attacking or possession orientated !……….do we really think that for example Stoke deliberately give us the ball and say….”Here you go, have the ball and we will try and get it back in our half and counter attack you !”…………every team keeps the ball as long as they can, it`s just a fact that some can retain the ball longer !……..Yes, I`m stating the obvious, but from the way some talk you wouldn`t think it !……….. it`s always been a very simple game !…….that`s why the average man/woman in the street knows quite a lot about football compared to the average Kyle Walker knowing as much a Hawking in his area of work !………..Kyle Walker has 0.001 % of the knowlwedge of Hawking, whereas say, Goonster has 99.9% of the football knowledge of Wenger !………….it`s just 0.1% from being Arsenal`s manager to being a hyperactive frenzied person who has eaten all the E numbers at Cadbury`s chocolate factory !. 😆

  32. Canadian Gooner says:

LC – She’s very tolerant of your behaviour and/or has a good sense of humour. Either way you are a very lucky man.

  33. Le Coq Monster says:

CGF………………….After knowing my wife for 50 years ( I married the girl next door ) I think she`s just past caring !. hahaha

  34. Canadian Gooner says:

Poor Goonie! Has he recovered from Vardy leaving for the Euros without confirming his transfer to Arsenal? Though I’m sure he wouldn’t eat any chocolate but the the best Holland has to offer.

  35. Le Coq Monster says:

I think Goonie was hit with the double whammy of worrying about not just Darth Vardy but Mkhitaryan as well !.

  36. Canadian Gooner says:

I’m off to watch the Spain vs. Czech Republic match. Not sure which team to cheer for. Should I cheer for Hector and Santi or Cech the Czech and Little Mozart?

    Have a great day everyone.

  37. Le Coq Monster says:

Hahaha Rico !…………….I`m fine with that !, but if he worked behind the meat deli counter at Tesco`s I`d be livid !……..well, unless he was serving Spud fan in front of me !

  38. rico says:

He’s revolting LC, I’ve seen him before picking his nose and then lunching on it…. I once thought he’d be a good replacement for Arsene, however…….

  39. Le Coq Monster says:

I dont know Rico !……………….maybe we would be missing out on a great marketing opportunity !………..Joachim Low`s Arse&Ball Drops !

And it`s Arse&Ball………Arse&Ball Drops for tea…..they`re by far the greatest Arse&Ball drops the world has ever seen ! hahaha

  40. Le Coq Monster says:

Anyway !…………..Apart from his haircut, how`s our rumored target Morata playing ?……………..is he worth a £50M punt ?

  41. Le Coq Monster says:

Yeah potter !………………but being a German turd, I bet it was over engineered and reliable !…………vorsprung turd technik !.

  42. Hell Raising Devil says:

The Czechs, led by veterans Cech and Rosicky gave a very good account of themselves. A solid TEAM, a compact TEAM, a TEAM of good quality with tactical intelligence were all the players all knew what they had to do, how to close down spaces and limit the technical superiority of the Spanish players.

I hope they manage to reach the knockout phase. The only pity is that they lost the game during the only moment during which they switched off momentarily.

  43. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – “I like Morata’s hair…” What hair? We already have Le Quiff for great hair.

As for the game – I had to cheer for the Czechs as they had Petr and Tomas playing, Spain didn’t play Hector or Santi playing and they started with Little Boy Cesc. I couldn’t cheer for Cesc.

One bonus though, no Jug Ears Lineker on the ITV feed.

  44. Canadian Gooner says:

Devil – I’m with you, 45 to 50 million being bandied about for Morata is a big risk for a ‘promising’ player. We’d be better spending a lot less on the young Dutchman from AZ.

  45. obi says:

    Hello All:
Rico, on Loew if that brings championships then by all mean AW go ahead, do it and get results. On Morata, I have said over and over again he’s not that good. I said exactly what Devil just said, @4:09, a few weeks ago he’s not better than Giroud, especially when you consider the service he gets at Juve.

  46. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Let’s see……

Bellerin is with the Spanish squad but is not playing.
    Monreal is not playing
    Mertesacker is not playing
    Paulista is not playing.
    Coquelin is not playing
    Cazorla is not playing
    Chambers is not playing

that is practically the whole defence and midfield not playing this summer…..earning well earned rest.

that leaves Koscielny, Ozil, Sanchez, Ollie, JAck, Rambo, Xhaka who are playing.

    Good.

I did not include Cech simply because GK are different. they recover earlier.

  47. rico says:

Yes, but the more ‘important’ players are playing and they’ll be tired if their countries go a long way in the completion…

  48. Le Coq Monster says:

Theo is rested from Euro`s aswell !………mind you, he is retsed when he`s playing as he doesn`t do much running or tackle !…….fcuk !……..over a hundred grand per week and he doesn`t even sweat !……not one perspiration droplet !.

    Come on Sweden !

  49. Silky says:

Come on the boys in GREEN!!!!!!!!!
Evening all pity not to have a goal yet have had a few opportunities!
Good post Rico I reckon give em Theo hell I’ll get the ferry over n drop him up there myself! He’s a clown pulling huge bucks n doin sweet f a! Not good for team harmony to have a fraud as 3rd/4th highest paid at the club!

  50. Micko says:

Adam 5.36, don’t forget the bouncers as well although you don’t see that many streakers anymore for some reason.

Ireland hanging on for their lives, gonna be a long 25 Malaga.

    Afternoon all.

  51. Malaga gooner says:

Walcott should be embarrassed taking his 140k a week and so should wenger for giving it to him

  52. Silky says:

And that is that unlucky could have gone either way! Will take the point and move on! Well done boys

  53. Le Coq Monster says:

I know the game is over, but I still fancy them fit blonde Swedish girls !………………………if none are available, then Ramsey will have to do !……the Welsh wear kilts as well dont they ?

  54. Adam says:

Lukaku looked 2 bob last night.
Shit tournament so far and it’s gonna kick off again when England or Russia get involved again. Depressing stuff.

  55. Adam says:

Rico. To me he looks like a bloke consumed with his own sense of self-importance. He is sporting showbiz and celebrity all rolled into one. 🙂

  56. bradster says:

    Morning all,

What if Giroud is golden boot for Euros? Does the excuse that we already have the best striker in Europe work if Wenger uses it not to buy one?

  57. Lee says:

I’ve got you and Kev’s tickets for the world cup in Russia in 2 years time…..if all this violence continues we’ll have to bring Mrs A!!!
