Winger Gets Green Light. Arsene Wenger To Finally Replace Gilberto? Yaya Sanogo On His Way Out?

Morning all.

According to The Express and other newspapers – Arsenal are looking to sign Spartak Moscow star Romulo this January, with Arsene Wenger preparing to offer the Russian outfit £9.5million plus Yaya Sanogo on loan.

“He tracks his runner well and judges his tackles with composure’

That’s how Romulo is described. But hang on, not all is good news. The 24-year-old moved to Russia in 2012 for around £6 million, but has only made 18 league appearances after missing a season-and-a-half after suffering a cruciate ligament  injury. He’s meant to be pretty good though, the next ‘Gilberto’…..

It’s hard to believe that Gilberto left us just six years ago. He was 32 years old and still playing for Brazil yet for some reason, Arsene Wenger let him leave. To this day I never understand why, although there were many a story around suggesting he and Wenger had fallen out over the captaincy and him being played in defence….

Whether we sign this younger Brazilian remains to be seen but if we do and he’s anywhere near as good as our old one, finally we’ll have ourselves a very good CDM.

And of course, Sanogo will be gone and even if it is only on loan it’s good news.

Talking of Brazilians, Wellington Silva has finally been granted a work permit. We agreed a deal to sign him back in 2009 but due to his age, nothing became official until 2011. Now it looks likely that’ll he join up with his Arsenal team-mates either in January or next summer.

From Brazil to Chile where the media are trying to stir things up for Arsenal. They report Alexis Sanchez is unhappy in London and has fallen out with a few team-mates, including Mesut Ozil. Apparently it’s all to do with the work ethic, or rather lack of it from some of our players. Well if Alexis is unhappy, it’s certainly not showing on the pitch and I suspect this report, like most things written in the newspapers, is all garbage.

Talking of Alexis Sanchez, it’s no surprise that he’s been voted Vitality Player of the Month for October. Danny Welbeck came second with 4% and Kieran Gibbs third. Sanchez picked up 90% of the votes, Gibbs just 1.4%.

90% of the votes for one player over a month is staggering and as much as it’s clear to see how good Alexis is and his award deserved, other players should be getting closer to him. The gulf between him and Danny Welbeck is far too big and perhaps that explains why we are drawing so many matches instead of winning.

Sanchez gives his all from the start to end of a game, he never gives up no matter what the situation but I don’t think the same can be said of all his team-mates.

I know Arsene Wenger gets a lot of criticism but once our players step onto the pitch, it’s down to them to perform.

It’s down to them to give 100% each and every week, not ponce around knowing that no matter what, their bank account will be bursting at the end of each week.

And if they can’t or won’t – get rid of them and sign players who will!

On that jolly note, have a good day all….

As for Rumulo he sounds like a bit part player from a star trek movie. If we can get Mr Worf in defence all will be sorted.

Ah, the power of the press and the gullibility of their readers!
    Bollox, for sure!
    Well found Potter.

Former Arsenal winger Robert Pires is hopeful his old club will be challenging for the Premier League title come the end of the season.

Despite turning 41 on Wednesday, the World Cup winner remains active as a player and is captain of Indian Super League side FC Goa.

His former side Arsenal are fifth in the Premier League, nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea, but Pires hopes Theo Walcott’s return to action will see Arsene Wenger’s men in contention for top spot in May.

“I hope we can still win the title,” Pires told Sky Sports. “Of course it is going to be very difficult, but the season is very long and the Christmas period coming up will be a very important one for Arsenal.

“The situation is not too different from when I was an Arsenal player. It was very tough, very difficult against teams like Man United, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

“The good news is that Theo Walcott is coming back but the bad news is that Mesut Ozil is out. But I still believe in Arsenal, I believe in the players and of course I believe in Wenger.”

The Frenchman, who was part of the Invincibles side that went unbeaten for a whole season in 2004/05, believes the only thing Arsenal are missing is a conventional holding midfield player.

“I think Arsene Wenger has a very good team at Arsenal but I do think they need one player in midfield in the mould of Patrick Vieira,” he said.

“They need a tall player, a strong player because in England you need players who are physical. That position is very important and I think that is the only missing piece.

“That aside everything is good because they have some good creative players and Wenger has bought some good young players like Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck and Calum Chambers.”

In 2008, Pires was voted as Arsenal’s sixth best player of all time and Pires thinks he knows why the fans still hold him in such high esteem.

“I love the Arsenal fans and they also love me and I think I know why,” he said. “I played 11 games in north London derbies against Spurs and I scored nine goals which I think is very good for them. My relationship with the Arsenal fans will always be special.”

    Morning all.
I think Super Rob would be the ideal person to sit down and have a chat with Ozil. He was regarded as a bit of a lightweight when he first arrived and has admitted himself that he didn’t think he would cope with the physical side of our league. Maybe he was lucky that he had the likes of Vieira, Adams, Keown, etc, to protect him but might be worth a try!

Afternoon, I think there could be substance in Sanchez story, Thinking back to the Hull match, He was seen and pictured shaking he,s head on the half way line after the final whistle, When his team mates were still rejoicing after equalizing in the 2-2 draw. Just hope his hunger and commitment starts rubbing off on the players. He should be the face of Red Bull.lol.
