Wilshere Operation. Bould to Stoke & Cesar to Arsenal? That was awful but three points nevertheless…..

Morning all,

Bit of gossip to start with from The Mirror and Sunday People.

First relates to Steve Bould, The Mirror report that he is on Stoke’s wanted list to replace Tony Pullis, should he get sacked of course. Strange one that and can’t see much truth behind it. The second relates to Julio Cesar, he’s now the keeper Wenger wants to sign once Qpr are relegated. That’s according to The Sunday People.

The Mirror also report that Jack Wilshere is to have surgery once the season ends. Nothing serious, just a pin needs replacing…

Yesterday – One decent cross from Walcott, a knock down by Kos, finished off by a Merts header, secured three points yesterday…

Other than that, in my opinion, we played some of the most lacklustre, sideways, unimaginative, boring, tiresome and totally awful football that this football team has played in ages and we have all witnessed some grim stuff of late!

To top it off, our leading man up front got himself sent off and will now miss the next three games.

Can it get any worse?

The answer to that will unfold as the weeks go by…..

Ok, let’s be honest, many of us said before game that we didn’t really care how we got the maximum points, as long as we got them, but did any one of us expect such a pathetic performance?

I didn’t.

I expected an end to end game, many chances, with the best defence coming out on top but we witnessed none of that, well, not from Arsenal.

Despite being reduced to ten men early on, Fulham created the better chances and to be honest, they were very unlucky to lose….

We, well we were very lucky to win. In the second half, we failed to create one clear cut chance on goal until Aaron Ramsey shot wide in time added at the end of the match.

We are back into 3rd place, but if we play like that next weekend we will get battered…..

That performance is best forgotten, and best never repeated…..

The main talking points after the game, other than our lacklustre performance is of course the two red card offences. The first by Sidwell on Arteta was awful, it could have broken our players leg. Thankfully it didn’t and Arteta was able to carry on.

The second sending off was quite harsh I thought, not helped by Giroud slipping as he made his challenge. But, despite making contact with the ball first and foremost, he went over the top of the ball and that meant only one thing….

Now let’s hope that Man City and Liverpool do us a favour later today…

Last word of the day goes to all those running the London Marathon this morning. Good luck to them all, especially Mrs Lee of course…

That’s it for another day, have a good one….

    Morning all…

Popping out this morning, back later….

Enjoy the sunshine and cheer for Mrs Lee 🙂

  2. Dave Highbury says:

Playing bad and winning-the sign of champions. Giroud’s doesn’t warrant a 3 match ban. It can be reduced to one with an appeal.

  3. useroz says:

Main reason Cesar would interest Wenger would be the bargain price, once QPR relegates; otherwise it’s media BS.

It wasn’t a red card for Giroud, as much as I’d like to see Podoski in the CF position… Intent? No. Foot off ground sliding in? No. Crunch parts of opposition’s lower limbs? No. Quite a case for appeal but…

Awful was the only ‘highlight’ of yesterday’s game; other than the 3 pts.

Walcott worth 100K, per month. Sell the idiot of a ‘footballer’. The obly thing against the Ox is scoring, atm.

And Wenger better not stick his French African favourite and the Best Footballer of Africa in the middle come the weekend!!!

  4. nedox says:

Hi all! The good thing that might come out of this is that podolski gets to start and Feo might get a central position…now is that good? Considering our next match is Man Utd. *cold chills*

  5. Xr!s says:

If Gervinho was in the side that played yesterday,I believe some chances would have been created and made the match exciting. Walcott and Cazorla went missing many times yesterday. No bite in midfield. Players got chances to shoot but went for passes. A very boring match to watch. Just like watching some serie A matches

  6. allezkev says:

At last, some sunshine. A good day to be outside…

Good post Rico. Not sure what to make of the Bould rumours…
If he left, would he take Banfield with him?

Where would that leave Wenger and our Coaching staff?
We want the club concentrating on strengthening the team next summer.
Not mucking about re-building the Coaching staff after only one season…

  7. allezkev says:

The big concern to me, is the fitness of Jack.
Another operation on his troublesome ankle!
Will he be fit enough to have a full pre-season?
How will it affect him, during next season?

  8. Cheadle says:

Booo hooo.. why cant we play like Braca and still get the job done? why why? why?… Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Fickle Fickle Fickle

  9. ozgunner10 says:

i agree Kev, not looking good for him is it? What started as a couple of weeks has turned into a real nightmare, threatening a very promising career possibly

  10. ozgunner10 says:

good post Rico, not an easy game to write about – i would imagine Bouldy would want to manage his own team one day, whether that is now or not who knows? I am not convinced Wenger will buy a keeper this summer. He is on record as saying chez is going nowhere and was praising Fab the week before claiming again he will be a great goalkeeper – One would have to go, i am not sure that will happen.

  11. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

    A fine post… as always.

SB to Stoke… some of these journo’s need to start writing comedy skits…

Stress fracture is one of the worst chronic injuries a sports man can have… even with some of the best doctors in the world it is still beyond medical science to cure…. I know that because it ended my career in the forces… then again maybe if I had Arsenal’s legendary medical team behind me I would be loaded as Abu Dhabi and doing jack all, all year round…. 😀

Come on scum, please lose today… my next door neighbour had the audacity to question me about why Arsenal could not break down a 10 man team… my answer was if we had Ade ba -whore it would be different I guess.

And the dippers fans please sing the ‘never walk alone louder as you thump the chavs…

  12. frednerk says:

3 points thats all that matters ?..yer
But this squad have shown once again, how it adapts to the teams we play.
We started off knocking it around, looking like a team,
soon as sidwell went off,we began to make it look like a training exercise, the pressing stopped, walnut began taking all the deadballs(scored 1),sloppy play thoughout.
For a team fighting for points we were rubbish.

    So after me………

thank you little lady with the flag.

  13. Micko says:

    Afternoon all,
Well done rico, bet you didn’t write that with the handbrake on !

Don’t know why anyone would want to run a marathon unless it’s for charity of course, got a feeling your gonna be the one run off of your feet for the next couple of days Lee.

Cesar rumours may have some legs to them, Wenger confirmed we held talks with him before he moved to qpr in the summer, think they tempted him with a coaching role in the deal, now they’re down he’ll be off, it could happen.
Got a good feeling things are gonna go our way today.

  14. rico says:

    Hi Micko, I tried but…..

I’d rather eat one – but then, that’s not even a marathon any more….

Would love to get Cesar. He was dropped yesterday for Green…

  15. Micko says:

Know what you mean rico, i’m not built for them either, my little legs and beer belly just get in the way.
    That’s good news JM.
Catch you later, the pub calls.

  16. devilgunner says:

    Good Afternoon Lady and Gentlemen.

back from a three team tournament………practically sunburnt.

We played somesmashing football today. Scored two goals from outside the pen area and rattled the bar quite a few times. and ended up with a win and a draw. good performance all around.

much better then the awful mess I saw yesterday.

  17. rico says:

Afternoon Devil. I’m sure the Sunday Pub League would have served up some better ‘stuff’ than our team did yesterday ……

  18. devilgunner says:

Just read that Bould is being considered as a replacement for Pulis. If he is being sidelined by AW then its better for him to go there. At least he will be in the hotseat not on the sidelines.

I also read that Matthew Lowton is being considered as a Sagna replacement. I like that and he is English as well.

  19. devilgunner says:

If Bould is being sidelined its good for him career wise.

Lowton is the Villa right back. Similiar to a right sided Gibbs.

  20. rico says:

I was teasing you Devil, that Bould stuff is in the post 😉

Can’t see him going there tbh…

    Always injured you mean 😉

  21. devilgunner says:

that is a pity. I was looking forward to seeing them play in the final.

Nonetheless their wins put the men’s achievement to shame.

Regarding Lowton I do not not about him being injured 😉 but I saw him twice on the telly and he is similiar in style to Gibbs. This year he has two goals and two assists.

  22. rico says:

They are ahead now Devil, great strike by Defoe, although it pains me to say that…

I thought/hoped they would lose this one 🙁

  23. Joaquim Moreira says:

Four years ago… Arshavin scores 4 at Anfield…
    (from http://www.arsenal.com)
Two important conclusions from yesterday game:
    a) Arsenal has a football completely programming and formatted. This is easy for the oppossite side because always know how Arsenal playing.
    b) Even playing versus 10 it’s always the same, This formatting style of play not improve the best of each player because each one must adapt to the the programming style of playing

  24. rico says:

JM, so often we say that we have no other way of playing other than how we do…

Until we try something different, we won’t win anything imho….

  25. rico says:

The only good thing about todays result is Man Utd will win the PL tomorrow night if they beat Villa…

    And not at The Emirates….

  26. EastSidePaul says:

Man City are fucking awful… How on earth can you spend so much money and have such a poor team! Looks like thats the end of our CL hopes, unless chelsea trip up, which I doubt they will..

Knowing our luck Rico Villa will beat united tomorrow…

  27. tsght says:

well well… the scums are 2 points behind us now…. the bright side to this is that Judas will not lift up his EPL trophy at the Erms…

  28. tsgh says:

well well well… the scums are 2 points behind us now…. the bright side to this is that Judas will not lift up his EPL trophy at the Erms…

  29. rico says:

They have no balance Esp, you can spend all the money in the world but if the balance is wrong, you are doomed…

They were also overly confident and thought 1-0 was enough…

You might be right re tomorrow….

Toots are 2 points behind us with a game in hand, can’t see them surrendering easy this time around…

5th looks most likely, maybe even 6th…..

  30. kel says:

gotta give it to spurs, great come back, the momentum of this game will carry them to the CL imo, lets hope Liverpool beat chelsea now it’s are only hope of reaching CL because imo we aint good enough on are own 🙁

  31. tsgh says:

    scum fixtures include:

wigan away, Saints at home, Chelsea away, Stoke away and Sunderland at home.

Ours are Man u at home, QPR away, wigan at home, and Newcastle away on the last day…

  32. tsgh says:

8 points from the last 4 matches will still clinch it….

but then most peoples wish will come through as CL is not relevant and just maybe AW will be sacked…

  33. tsgh says:

Hi Agag, …they will still have a day in Wembley some will say… the fans will be happy when they beat Wigan on the 11th of May

  34. allezkev says:

Hey Shopping Buddy, how goes it?

Got my eye on a couple of nice shirts…,

What should I do Agag? 😉

  35. allezkev says:

    Wenger won’t get sacked…

Why would the Board sack the man who has Arsenal as the 4th most valuable club in the World, with only Real, Barca and ManUre in front of us…

    It ain’t gonna happen…

  36. rico says:

    Sure have Kel…

Good point Esp, but with Aw and Fergie loving each other these days, who knows 😉

Not nervous Dna, just want the club I support to finish as high as they can in the PL…

  37. allezkev says:

    Ginge, do you sense intrigue?!

    A betting scam perhaps??

You better get your people on it right away… 😀

  38. rico says:

Ts – I forgot they have to play Chelsea, thank you 😉

    Afternoon Ak…

No point in sacking AW if the board will remain the same and with the same amount of ambition….

I agree, he’d be gone by now if that was the boards intention…

Come on Usmanov, flash your cash….

  39. allezkev says:

JM, how are The Eagles of Lisbon doing….

Can you get me some links, so I can read about the most wonderful club in Portugal… 😉

  40. rico says:

Ak, I don’t want it to happen all the time SK is in control…

    I just wish he’d accept some help…

  41. allezkev says:

Ginge, I think it’s tied up with the guys from Treadstone…

You are wise to trust nobody.

    I don’t even trust myself…

  42. ozgunner10 says:

if we’d done that we’d be jumping off the ceiling about now – I think AVB has them believing – mind you watching us would hardly scare anyone would it?

  43. tsgh says:

    Hi Rico,

How is Gareth Barry still playing pro football? Does he ever get out of the centre circle…

  44. allezkev says:

    Nooo JM, I don’t believe you…

    Everyone loves the mighty Benfica…

    Those wonderful red shirts.

    The Stadium of Light…

    A magical club…

    I reckon JM, that you’re a secret Benfica fan… 😉

  45. eastsidepaul says:

They will never allow Usmanov near the board, if he was to get into power everyone in that room would be out of a job. They will do everything they can to stop that happening!

  46. allezkev says:

Tea break over, keep the faith Gooners…

Ginge, I’m relying on you to watch my back mate… 😉

Rico, the only answer is a sparkling wine… 😀

    Lata

  47. tsgh says:

    Treadstone ha ha ha…

…more like Section 20 in …uk. Adam is their CO of course… with his posh accent and cravat…

  48. rico says:

Ts – goodness knows, thank goodness we never signed him eh 😉

🙂 Ak, that’s exactly the help he needs, I just pray it’s around the corner…. Sooner the better imho..

  49. tsgh says:

aren’t black cab cabbies the eyes and ears of HM’s or your arabic is only used for ordering kebab… ask Adam he will tell you… 😉

  50. agirlagunner says:

rico, Citeh did nothing for swathes of the game.It was as if they were inviting the Totts to score. And we all know how that went You would think with all their petrodollars, they would at least try harder.

ginge, now I feel worse about those dropped points at Everton.

    AK, are you resisting?? 😛

  51. Adam says:

Afternoon Rico and all. Bad result for us. Did Man City come out for the second half?
TS. I am part of the “old boy network” naturally and my ideals were formed on the playing fields of Eton.

  52. tsgh says:

Its the America idea of soccer that is ruining it…

I am surprised AW is still in charge after Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Leonardo told the world AW said he would never work under an American owner…

He must really love his £7m,London or Arsenal in that order to stay… or just the carte blanche he is given…

  53. ozgunner10 says:

i hear ya Kev – but as i said early on in the season we seem to have done little more than tread water for a long time now – lots of potential, tons of promise and yet we have the ability to be so poor so often. Yes we’ve made millions for boys but once again we need some help as we did last year with the Spuds and Chelsea drama’s – I am not sure its coming this time mate

  54. tsgh says:

😀 what did Madge say about Etonians…? She forgot about Adam who has 8 wifes….

Hi Adam enjoying your vino in the sunshine…

  55. Joaquim Moreira says:

Everyting was fine in today’s Marathon in London
I prefer Pantelimon (M.city) them Cesar (Qpr). Probably chepaer too.
    Sporting must win today, allez.

  56. rico says:

You are harsh agag 😉 😉

Afternoon Adam. No, I don’t think they did, they were awful. They should have wrapped up the game in the first half….

Now we need Liverpool to do us a favour, doubt they will though….

  57. rico says:

Ts – or it’s simply a case of SK loving the money he is earning while paying out such a small sum….

  58. tsgh says:

Yeah Agag but 2 points ahead is still something imho… their game against the chavs is a deal breaker if we can get at least a point against the manure… I can’t see them taking 15 points from their remaining matches…

Wigan are still in trouble and I can see them causing the scums problems next weekend…

You got to get the tractor out… pronto

  59. rico says:

Don’t forget our game next weekend Ts….

I’m going out that day… Not sure where yet, but no way am I watching…..

  60. tsgh says:

‘or it’s simply a case of SK loving the money he is earning while paying out such a small sum….”

Rico… that has always been my view. He will never be an Arsenal man… he does not value or appreciate any sports… to him Arsenal is a cash cow that needs milking until…

Then again he could have been Thaksin Shinawatra of Man city… remember him?

  61. stevepalmer1 says:

Afternoon all, Nice one Rico. Don’t care much about SB if i tell the truth, i don’t think things have changed that much since he took over. Yes our performance was bitterly disappointing but we have the points, can we play that bad again, probably yes.. Giroud’s sending off was only to ballance the books up wasn’t malicious and if we appeal i think it would be only one game. Giroud is not a prolific scorer so i think the only thing we’ll miss is his challenging in the air. Giroud does get stuck in although he lacks any pace whatsoever. Walcott is a bad replacement he won’t challenge and he won’t work Podolski for me, if we do have to have Walcott on find him a nice spot where he can do no harm. The way Jack has come back shows he needs a six thousand mile service the end of the season can’t come quick enough for him. Don’t care what keeper we buy just make sure he knows what goalkeeping is.

  62. Adam says:

    Hi Rico. 🙂
Yes TS. It’s pink gins with the boys this afternoon. Despite my marital history, I am am a man’s man. Rico will confirm that, I am sure.

  63. agirlagunner says:

Haha, rico. They played suspicously like Arsenal. 😉 How can the “stingiest” defense in the premiership allow three goals in six odd minutes is beyond me. Having said that, I was appalled at the number of times Bale and Dempsey went to ground in the hopes of getting a penalty.

Boo, Adam. 🙂 Another sunshiney day in London. You must break out the bubbly. Any old excuse, really. 😛

    Hi, JM!!

  64. agirlagunner says:

Hiya, SSP. 🙂 Walnut has been awful since he signed da ting. 😕 Podolski has to get those shooting boots on.

    Ginge, let’s borrow rico’s tractor. 😛

    Hello, Oz. 🙂

  65. Adam says:

Agag. Rico got me so drunk when we had lunch that I thought I would leave the bubbles out for the month. 🙂

  66. tsgh says:

I have written off that match… as I said more than 8 points will clinch it for us me think…

The chavs have Swansea at home, Man u away, Spurs at home, AV away and finally Everton at home…

Rednose even after winning his 20th league will not want the Spaniard beating him at home. Everton will want to finish above the dippers to finish in 6th so don’t worry now lady… we have the whole summer to worry… :d

  67. agirlagunner says:

JM, melting in the heat everytime I’m outside, but otherwise fine. How’s Porto?

rico, how much did you guys drink on your curry outing?? 😛 Far too much if Adam’s claims are true. 😛

  68. tsgh says:

Gerv will cause more problems to Rio and Vidic if he is given a chance… with Ox or Poldi on the LHS against Rafael…

  69. rico says:

    4.11 Ts –

Spot on and you know that is exactly what I think of him and have done since the man walked into our club.

I want him gone asap…. and he can take his £70k with him….

  70. rico says:

🙂 agag… Don’t believe a word that Adam tells you, he drank very little.

Unlike me who guzzled far too much and made a twit of myself 🙂

  71. rico says:

Chelsea 1-0 up… This is not a good day for us so far..

But, we only have ourselves to blame….

Ts, I don’t have a tractor, don’t believe what Wath has told you all, I don’t only eat carrots either 😉

  72. devilgunner says:

    Chavs 1-0 up.

however I think that the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place still have more twists and turns to come. I would not be surprised if we finish 5th….but neither will I be surprised if we finish 2nd.

  73. rico says:

No matter where we finish Devil, there will be a group of fans somewhere who will be happy….

Apart from those who wanted us to finish further down the table of course….

  74. tsgh says:

I am not going to say the rabbit joke then… 😀

Hi Oz ,its what will be termed Admiral of the Narrow Seas or then again we have been left with a team similar to a bag of hammers…

  75. tsgh says:

😛 you can’t say that about the future UEFA president. Adam and Senderos are the multi-linguist of the beautiful game…

  76. agirlagunner says:

Life is a toil as it is shopping-free at the moment, oz. 😀 😀

The Chavs are winning, too. 🙁

  77. ozgunner10 says:

agag 🙂 piggy bank empty? I know that feeling –

Liverpool need Gerrard once again to inspire them – they seem a bit flat, mind you that is one rather expensive squad they are playing against

  78. agirlagunner says:

rico, I never drink more than two pink ones at a time. Beyond that tends to be a disaster. Eeeek. The gents here seem to drink a lot. Well, maybe not rocky.

That’s on my travel bucket list, JM. 🙂

  79. tsgh says:

they will go a point ahead of us with a game in hand…

the dippers are a joke… they spent more than us too…

  80. tsgh says:

go effort by Sturridge… my fear is that once you don’t make the cut for top 4.. its impossible to get back in…

  81. Wavy says:

I thought it was Ivanovich who was Transylvania.

Suarez cam pack his bags for an early summer holiday that’s more than a 3 match ban.
A new nick name -knasher suarez!

  82. tsgh says:

I think he wants out… the easiest way for him will be if liverpool finish outside europe..

That is one reason why I do not envy other players… most players turn up when Arsenal come to town…

The grass always looks greener on the other side…

  83. rico says:

That is what a top class striker gives you, and that kind of player costs…

    Arsene, go get him 🙂

  84. tsgh says:

The result has favoured us but how the heck did Sturridge and Suarez stay on when OG12 got a straight red for falling…

  85. tsgh says:

If the decision yesterday was not in favour of us the media would say no mistake 😛

I think she is better than most of the men across Europe and that is not me ass kissing btw

  86. devilgunner says:

If plc win against the villa tomorrow I have the feeling that against us he will come with a depleted team…………to get us nearer shitty.

  87. rico says:

Just seen the Suarez bite – forget my earlier message Arsene, we don’t want him at The Emirates….

OR – is he trying to force a way out at a cheaper price…

    Either way, he’s mad!

  88. tsgh says:

Hmm, I think the FA will not change their mind judging from talkshite view… we will need his height for game 38 imho…its not worth the risk for an additional matc suspension. OG12 almost always scores for his team at the end of the season too…

…and believe me NUFC will be up for it as they are not safe.

  89. Joaquim Moreira says:

the referees always supoort Liverpool and MU.
6 minutes extra time? why? and he converts 6 in 6 and half why?

  90. tsgh says:

JM I am not complaining this time…This point makes the scums vs chavs match even more crucial… both teams will go all out to win at least…

  91. Adam says:

I contented myself with a banana Rico followed by a cup of The King of teas that I know you love so much. When I mentioned it at lunch last week you punched me. 🙂

  92. rico says:

My fav, but I also have a bar of Lidil 70% cocoa chocolate which I use when cooking chilli. But, it tastes as good as G&B….
