Who makes way?

Morning all.

The Benjamin Sesko v Viktor Gyokeres debate is likely to continue until the latter has scored 20 goals by Christmas. I get the debate though, both are expensive but one is younger, taller and perhaps more versatile. If we’re to believe what’s written in the back pages, Andrea Berta wants Gyokeres where as Mikel Arteta wants Sesko. Me, I just want a player who scores goals and lots of them. The one thing, well, one of many, which the Swede has in his locker is power and strength so he won’t be bullied. He’s been known to hit the target from distance on more than one occasion and strikes a dead ball very well too. Step aside Martin Odegaard, your days of taking our free kicks could be over. To be honest, they should have been anyway a while ago and definitely after Declan Rice stunned Real Madrid with two outrageous strikes. That is of course, assuming Gyokeres is joining Arsenal.

The chitter chatter about Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman being on Chelsea’s radar will go on and on too but it doesn’t mean the west London club have a realistic chance of signing either. We know Nwaneri loves working with and learning from Arteta because he said so at the back end of the season and the people around him will tell him that Chelsea won’t treat him as well as Arsenal. Omari Hutchinson learned that.

As for Dowman, well his father put Arsenal fans mind at ease on Twitter by simply typing:

“Arsenal are our club. You know that.”

My only concern about these two players is what Arteta thinks of them. We’ve seen him discard players like Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah, as well as a long list of players coming through the academy but the two young players are different, at least I think so. Certainly Nwaneri as he proved that last season. Dowman is a talent but still very young.

With all the talk about Rodrygo, Eze, Madueke going on, speculation only at this stage, someone is likely to be wondering what’s next for them. Logic says that person might be Leandro Trossard. Don’t get me wrong, he’s been good for Arsenal but if another club offers good money for him, perhaps Arsenal would be wise to accept it. Especially as he’s out of contract next summer. Logic and football seldom go together though, especially where Arsenal are concerned.

Meanwhile, Brentford captain Christian Norgaard is widely expected to be the next player through the Arsenal doors..

I believe 99% of Arsenal fans are now getting very bored when it comes to Gyokeres. Sporting Lisbon are not asking for more money from Arsenal. All they are asking for is 70 million euros up front + a 10 million add on instead of of 65 million euros up front & a 15 million add on! Same money! For God sake Arsenal its only 5 million more up front. They would have made more than this on their Platinum and Gold Season Ticket renewals this season. Why do Arsenal always have to negotiate like we are in a Kazbar!! AND perhaps Arsenal should be quiet about how much they are preparing to offer for Rodrygo until a deal has been done for Gyokeres. Not sensible when Sporting are watching and believe Gyokeres is just as good as Rodrygo! I believe Arteta is now resigned to not getting Sesko. Another footballer who thinks he is irreplaceable so a huge wage can be demanded. I would like to see Eze at Arsenal. I think he will be a valuable asset to the team. Lets see what else this week brings apart from Norgaard who has passed his medical and signed with an announcement due very soon.

I don’t for one minute believe Arsenal are telling anyone how much they are paying for any player. It’s the media making stuff up.

    Afternoon Rico and all,
I would be happy with either Gyokeres or Sesko as long as they want to come and not just for the money.
Waiting for Arsenal to sign a player is like watching paint dry so boring

Seems that Edu has entered the “”race “” for Madueke and in consequence the price is going to rise. Personally I would maintain a public interest in him and let the price rise and then let Forest decide whether they want to cough up for him .
If Chelsea really want to sell a last minute deal could be on the cards at a lower price to keep their PSR numbers ok.

Unfortunitly Rico their not the first 2 I would have signed.😁
It didn’t take Edu long to turn on us, makes you wonder did he really leave on good grounds.

Afternoon Rico, yeah, I’m warming to the Gyokeres story, it reminds me somewhat of the Ian Wright story, rejection and finally success at a more mature stage where he appreciated what he had earned…

Agree Kev, nice find rico, he will find success sweeter having been on the other end of rejection. Something smarmy about Sesko I feel, and Gyokeres leaving his girlfriend who was campaigning for him to stay at Sporting, speaks of his abition, football wise. While the younger, taller, Sesko was financially a better prospect, lets hope the Gyokeres gamble pays off. I switched between the pair daily, mind you it seems Arsenal did the same! Just get one in for pete’s sake

Heinze joint Arteta’s coaching team has been confirmed..

I too liked the Gokyeres story, I think he’s taken a pay cut too.
