Well it’s not is it??
Whatever Arsene Wenger does these days, it simply isn’t going to be good enough for his many critics and among those critics are a sizeable number of Arsenal fans. Those fans and that’s what they are despite the fact that I disagree with them, have made up their minds about our manager, the most successful manager in the history of Arsenal Football Club.
I dare say that back in the 1930’s, there were fans then that weren’t totally happy with Herbert Chapman and no doubt they criticised Chapman’s transfer business.
They probably questioned the acquisition of an 18-year-old winger from Exeter City, a certain Cliff Bastin, or the signing of an unknown full-back from Kettering Town, Eddie Hapgood?
More recently I can recall fans complaining about George Graham and they are now probably the same one’s who look back on his reign through rose-tinted spectacles.
I know that everything wasn’t perfect under George, just as it wasn’t under Bertie Mee or Terry Neill and it still isn’t today under Arsene Wenger! When is anything ‘perfect’?
Fans call for Wenger to spend and when he does they disrespect his signings – Gervinho suddenly becomes some idiot African, who’ll soon disappear off to the ACON, Oxlade-Chamberlain is just a kid and Jenkinson is an average player from the lower divisions.
Meanwhile Old Red Nose is a genius according to the Press, he’s snapped up a kid from Blackburn Rovers, an untested GK in De Gea and Ashley Young. Ok, Young is a good player but the others, time will tell. De Gea has already made a few ‘Almunia Blunders’ hasn’t he?
King Kenny is a genius for spending mega bucks on Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam, Alexander Doni and Jose Enrique but it didn’t secure Liverpool all three points last weekend did it?
I’m old enough to remember the vitriolic Press campaign to drive Sir Alf Ramsey out of the England job. A campaign led by the Sun Newspaper and their then main football journalists, the appalling Frank Clough and Peter Batt…
A campaign that ultimately succeeded and since Sir Alf left, how successful have England been since???
Yes, the super soar away Sun, that paragon of truth that comes from the ‘news’ organisation that hacks into dead childrens phones…
It sources, its journalists are from the same sewer as TalkSport, Sky Sports and the rest of the Press…
They are the scumbags that are driving the anti-Arsenal and anti-Wenger campaign and far too many fans are falling for it..
Well be careful for what you wish for guys and gals….
Anyway, today we are up against King Kenny and his new mega bucks side, let’s go and get thee points at our home of football and show all those who write/report about Wenger just how wrong they are about our boss and his transfer ways…..
We may be depleted today but there is no reason why we cannot put in a gutsy performance is there?
Let the new boys show their worth, let the old boys show them the way……

Morning all,
Now that is one of the best motivational post’s that i have read in a very very long time, written by a proper Arsenal man i f i may add well done AK. that lifted me and if our team read that i am sure they will be lifted as well. made my day.
Just to say great post, 100% agree. Thanks
Morning Guys and Gals 🙂
Nice Post AK, you getting at me 😉
Just a defender, please, thats not asking for too much…
Dear allezkev..
interesting twist..yes pool have invested in like wenger some dross…but you fail to mention that when torres was sold..suarez and (carroll)was brought in fast..we sell cesc…and probably nasri and what do wenger do to reinvest ??
im sorry mate the Booo’s will continue until wenger and gazidis keep their words..to reinvest the money in the team ?
and me personally i cannot understand how some Gooners still after all the lies we have been fed still even dare to think of supporting the way The Arsenal are being ripped off..
and we tried to loan LOAN Gonzalez..where have all our money gone..where is that great war chest ??..
nasri playing what a joke…??im sure some Gooners will let him know exactly what he is …
finally gazidis will soon know what most Gooners think of him to..no worries
Morning Gooners
Thanks for the sub-editing boss.. 😉
Thank you John
Cheers Steve….
Nobody gives us a chance today…. well sod em!

hi tomstoned –
i’m not a huge fan of the way wenger does his transfer buisness, nor the fact we buy many younger players at the expense of experience but is booing the team just before ko the right way to go about showing how disgruntled fans are??
Is it the players fault?
No has to be the answer, booing will only effect them and that won’t get us winning….
The best way to show feelings is to stay away for The Emirates….
Tom, fair points mate, obviously i disagree, but that’s democracy…
But tell me Tom, surely you aren’t going to boo?
Do you really think booing is going to help??
I’m sure the sewer Press will love to hear it though…
Booing simply makes their job easier and helps them in their efforts to sew discontent…
Gonzalez. is 30 years old, how many fans would have been seething if Wenger had spent money on a player his age, having seen better players leave beore at that age??
I would….
Morning AK, no probs re the sub-editing, it was good therapy for me 😉
While a player is still taking he’s wages he is still an Arsenal man, If Nas is included today i would expect him to play his heart out, Him leaveing, for whatever the reasons, is something that happens in every club, if you were offered the kind of money that some of these players are offered, you would do the same, so if your going to the game today, remember that, and show your support for Arsenal, keep your Boo’s and your jeers for Liverpool, and remember untill he’s gone he’s one of us.
I’ts important for our players to work together to day, not the best of circumstances i agree, but they have enough to contend with with Liverpool, show who you support, get behind our young gunners, and let them know your there. COYG
Blind faith is just that. Blind. You are drumming up support for a manager on six million a year who has systematically run down the Invincibles team of just six years ago to a spineless, spiritless team with no backbone whatsoever. Just look at all the early season “injuries” Buying players like Squillaci, and Chamakh. Dithering about on the transfer front when we have been told that for the past three years that there has been plenty money there if Wenger wanted to use it.
Instead of decisive action at the beginning of the summer to sell players who did not want to be here and buying in players with the right attitude it has been a shambles. And this indicisive dithering is reflected in the way that his team now plays.
He promised players of super quality being brought into the club. He knew that we would have probably the hardest start to a season ever, and coming of the shambles of what was the last few months of last season he has actually through his lack of any plan of any kind managed to make our start of season even more precarious.
You don’t live on past glories because if you did it would only be a matter of resignning Ian Wright and Tony Adams and suddenly we would be o.k.
So please stop whistling past the graveyard.
Steve,
agree re Nasri, until he signs for another club, he’s Arsenals, if he won’t play then he shouldn’t be paid – but it looks if any deal is far from being done and i expect him to start, and give everthing….
We may not like what he is doing but what a lift he could give us today, if his mind is where it should be…
If you are happy with the way Aw has conducted the transfer business this summer despite our failings last season, then you must be on something! Add to that the exit of Clichy & Cesc and the looming exit of Nasri. Will AOC and Gervinho replace Cesc and Nasri? We are one injury away from having no serious attacker. Are you happy with the Morrocan forward who cannot shoot or hold the ball up? Or you think that Gibbs can be that left back we have been missing? Are you satisfied with Squill as a defender? Other teams have 5 defenders for the two positions, but we have 2 average height defenders, one tall injury prone CB and one incompetent CB. Get real. Support the team, means that you can criticize the manager if he is not doing right. Managers come and go, but Arsenal remains. Fans are already voting with their feet – check attendance. You can’t eat all your eggs and have them, can you?
Arsenal is better than this.
He is NOT the most succesfull manager in the hiistory of Arsenal football club , he has won 7 major trophies over 15 years ,George Graham won 6 major trophies over 8 years , get your facts right, I view GRAHAM as more succesfull , how many more trphies wold Graham have won had he been manager for another 7 years .
Steve, well said as usual….
Nasri is on our wage bill, he’s an Arsenal employee, what’s the problem with him doing what he’s employed to do???
Rico, a good cuppa tea is also good therapy….. 🙂
Hi gunner –
that’s what narks me, the promises of early transfers and a busy window..
I’m not disregarding who we have bought, in time they’ll be very good i’m sure – but AW said he would address our weakness and as yet, he hasn’t…
Why did he and IG bother telling us all that in May if they knew we would be sat waiting until now…
hec, that’s a fair point, but we’ll never know the answer, because of the cash in the envelopes…
Personally, i think Herbert Chapman would have trumped everyone.
GREAT POST!
YOU WOULD THINK ARSENAL FANS OUT OF ALL FOOTBALL FANS WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT PRICE TAGS MEAN NOTHING IN THE MODERN GAME. REMEMBER ANELKA? VIEIRA? PETIT? TOURE?…MAN UNITED PAID £6M FOR CHICHARITO LAST YEAR YET LIVERPOOL SHELLED OUT £30M FOR ANDY CARROLL????? IVE NO DOUBT CARROLL WILL BE A GOOD PLAYER BUT HE IS NO BETTER THAN THE LITTLE PEA IS HE? NEVERMIND £24M BETTER!
WE HAVE SIGNED 4 PLAYERS THIS TERM AND ONLY SOLD 3, PLUS WE HAVE 10 DAYS LEFT OF THE WINDOW AND MONEY AVAILABLE TO DO MORE BUSINESS. WENGER ISNT GOING TO SPEND ANYTHING UNTIL CHAMPS LEAGUE FOOTBALL IS SECURED. BE PATIENT.
Indeed Rico,
and surely the most important function of any manager at the end of a season is to assess his squad, see where the deficincies and weaknesses lie and then do something to rectify them. The Arsenal fan beside mewith the white cane can see where our faults lie. And yet year after year, we become weker and weaker.
We have to take the club pronouncements at face value that even before the sale of Fabregas and the pending sale of Nasri that we had plenty of money to spend if Wenger saw the need to spend.
Yet we have two major share holders both multi billionaires who have not spent a penny as yet.
SO have we been lied to over the past couple of years because if so this is a whole can of different worms altogether because if a club’s fan base cannot trust its manager and board to tell the truth then there is a complete breakdown in support.
So either Wenger is blind or lying and either way I will not show blind faith in him. I will support the Arsenal until my dying day but I will not support a manager and board who are systematically running the club down and like all other Arsenal supporters, I have the right to express that opinion.
Any season ticket holder that has brought his ticket this year and leaves his seat vacant is a moron, he thinks he’s a supporter when theres thousands that would take it up tomorow shows exactly what he is, that is not a protest that is a man that has got too much money and as soon as we do well will be back in his seat again telling everybody he’s had his ticket for years i wouuld call him an arsehole a complete arsewipe let him boo outside
hi cavalry –
i wish we knew for sure how much money we have available, now after the sales and before any sales took place. The problem I have personally is that the message coming out from IG is we had money available before the transfer window opened and now having sold eboue, clichy and fabregas we have more.
My guess and its only a guess is what he had has been spent on the players we have bought and Barca having now released some of the Cesc money will become avaliable.
Then, IF Nasri goes, he will have that money to spend aswell, which is a nice sum. Like one fan mentioned earlier, the CL match could see a further few signings.
Should AW add at least a CH, Goal scorer and another versitile defensive player, i’d say the tranfer window has been pretty decent.. If he doesn’t then should we suffer more injuries to our defenders, we are on the verge of watching Squilli and that’s a huge concern
Matter of fact, Steve, any ST holder that paid up at renewal time is a mug. People should call the bluff of the current club management and vote with their feet. Watch in a pub, but do not pay to encourage fraud- promising and not fulfilling, without cogent explanations to the fans.
i must admit Steve, if i’d paid up for ST, i’d go and watch them because i support afc, not the manger or the board – if i felf that strongly i would’t renew my ST. Fans won’t do that though as they will have to get back at the top of the waiting list when it all comes good again…
But not everyone is the same, some fans feel very strongly and want the chance to vent their frustrations, and empty seats speak volumes.
However, the board won’t care because the money for their ST is already in the bank, the only people who will suffer will be the players, the players who need 60000 fans supporting them in their own ground….
Cavalry,
Can you tell me what you are supporting not the team not the manager not the board what are you supporting a memory get real son this is Arsenal today get used to it, i have known Chelsea fans that went 40 years with nothing and they are still supporters also city fans that went years without winning yeh they had moans but not anything like i have heard for six measly years, we have not got a given right to win anything, a supporter picks his or her team as a kid and will support through thick and thin Arsenal is an institution when we win its great but there is twenty teams all trying to be top dog, its what the institution brings to the table that matters we try and bring entertaining football, Wenger tries to bring in exciting players that the fans like to watch of course he wants to win, and would like to spend like some of the others he has to tell us that we are rich or who would come here, Spuds down the road are buying our cast offs thats how strapped they are and a lot of the others are just as strapped and if truth be known we are as well untill our rich shareholders shell out Wenger will do his best and i don’t think he has done that badly no matter how much you slag him off.
This Mata to Chelsea story is very disturbing. I understood that the 29m offer might be out of Arsenal’s league, but BBC are quoting 23m?
Steve,
cavalry said this:
‘I will support the Arsenal until my dying day but I will not support a manager and board who are systematically running the club down and like all other Arsenal supporters, I have the right to express that opinion’.
He is supporting the team… 🙂
You started your own site savage? good on you.. Shame you had to take a swipe at HH though….
I don’t honestly believe AW wanted Mata, he was available for a lot less a few weeks ago, AW would have made his move then i’m sure… It was all spin imho
Precisly rico
It’s human nature to want to see things in these black and white terms. It makes it easier to take a side. I agree with some of this article, but not all. I think the main problem is being full of admiration for Arsene’s fantastic achievements of the past, yet worried and confused about what he is doing now. I don’t feel in any “camp”, for or against, but I have to trust the evidence of my own eyes and my feelings about our recent history. One thing is for sure. We need to get behind the team at the games. What happens at Arsenal this year will be closely linked to our results.
Sorry Cavalry, i must have missed that my appologies
Nice history lesson Kev.
Bertie Mee led Arsenal to the lower echelons of the top tier and nearly got us relegated, and just 4 years after the ’71 double.
He broke up the double team and never adequately replaced the players. At £220K Alan Ball was a vanity signing who played a different type of football to Arsenal’s powerful pressing style and was allegedly “disruptive” but Mee made him captain. Peter Storey/Eddie Kelly, wjho were internationals, more or less made way for him.
Before winning the 71 double we’d lost two league cup finals, one to a superior Leeds team (68) in controversial circumstances and one to an inferior lower division side (69) in extra time. In 1970 we won the UEFA/Fairs cup
—
After two doubles and the unbeaten season Wenger broke up his team and never adequately replaced the players. Where as Mee bought Ball, Wenger bought Gallas – Like Ball, he was disruptive, a WC winner and a player who was opinionated and liked the sound of his own voice.
Throughout the barren trophyless seasons, we have lost two league cup finals – one to a superior Chelsea team in controversial circumstances and one to an inferior lower division team in the last minute.
Maybe as history ALWAYS repeats itself, we’ll win this years Europa cup and do the double with a team full of English lads next year?
Sorry Rico, I know it’s a bit nasty, but I’m trying to do what I know I can’t do here, and that’s correct mistruths on other frivolous blogs. Some of the other guys are simply out of order, and we have a duty to speak up, because we’re all having an influence.
I’m not looking forward to managing all the comments though 🙂
Confidential Gooner, this is a democratic country people will do what they want to do, but to poison what we have is not good for Arsenal. People deserve to do what they think best, but i would prefer supporters to support and not run down the good name of Arsenal, after all Wenger has done so much more for Arsenal than any other in Arsenals history and a lot more to come
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11670_7113403,00.html?
We need a player like Jagielka.
He is partly the answer to our defensive. And he’s loyal. A missing link. As Seaman was in 1990.
If Arsenal signed him, within next to no time he would be one of the first names in the England set up.
Steve, there’s another side to what you’re saying, an issue guys like Will and I have been picking on recently … by criticising the team constantly, you actually impact on their play. In addition, you scare off potentially good signings, and make current top class players like Nasri wonder why they should sign a new contract. The fans have a role to play in driving the club forward, and they’re failing their role.
Savage mate..
im happy that some few Gooners are more than happy accepting the team we’re fielding today…lets hope your not let down then..
playing the c**t nasri is just plain stupid..and it only show how desperate wenger is…what if he gets injured ?..then we get stuck with a injured player who doesnt want to play for us,what signal does wenger give the rest of the team..??..na na nasri is a c**t na na..will be sung no doubt..
Rico..in a perfect world Gooners would show what they think by staying away and some will…but please remember for many Gooners The Arsenal is life..and they have every right to react as they see fit..its emotional rico..its not something you can turn on and off..
spend some feckin money…..
Just noticed your comment Hec, George Graham may have won more your right but he was corrupt he took bungs and was sacked but if thats the way you think things should be run your at the wrong club.
But we would have probably done better in Europe
I would play Nasri, because we’re caught between selling and buying, coupled with heavy injuries and suspensions. There’s a risk he will get injured, but compare that to the risk of dropping vital points.
Great post, thank you so much, the only wish the team should play with an attitude of give it all and then there will be no complaints, come on Arsenal
SYG, glad you enjoyed the history mate, i can bore people for hours and hours on Arsenal history…
As far as Jagielka is concerned, i wonder if family concerns might scupper any move to London?
It’s a shame, i rated the guy when he was at Sheffield Utd…
If any of you morons went you’ll know the booing happens mostly after the game. Wenger out! The board are liars and a disgrace!
But if Nasri or that c**t Bendtner plays I might make an exception!
Well said Savage
Almost game time! Fantastic to watch the team again – good luck to the boys and hope the debut kids shine.
Here’s to 3 points and happy days – up the Gunners!
Glad you enjoyed it Vinay, cheers mate.
and by playing the c**t nasri Savage mate..you’re saying to the midfielder who should have started…sorry lad your not good enough so im choosing a player who doesnt want to play for us *nasri c**t*,but heey like wenger tells you we dont kill off youngsters right ?..
playing nasri c**t will make us a laughing stock mate dont you have any pride left..?..
AK gave out a link last night of an interview given by David Dein, i urge any fan that has not seen it to take a look, opens your eyes a little , not so much in what he said but what he didn’t say.
stevepalmer…
clutching at straws are we`?..please try to understand that many Gooners are not afraid of loosing wenger..we WANT wenger and his lies gone…get it !
I’ll go get that link Steve and re-post it 🙂
And the Bob wilson link Rico… 🙂
http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/kickoff/blog/2011-08-19/wilson-discontent-mainly-among-yonger-arsenal-fans
tomstoned, we all support in our own way, some want what you want and others their way but Wengers going no where get used to it.

Allezkev
That’s one the great things about the club – it’s history…
After Mee had gone and Terry Neill took over, can you remember the buzz everyone got after we laid out for Malcolm MacDonald and Alan Hudson..?
Ok, we were only good enough for 4 cups and places in the top five of the table, but it brought a buzz.
The downside of Terry Neill’s tenure was the fact that we couldn’t hold on to Brady and Stapleton, the former of whom was we thought at the time irreplaceable. Fabregas anyone?
We had 7 seasons of top tier mediocrity afterwards, before we appeared in 2 League Cup Finals winning against a superior Liverpool side in strange circumstances more than controversial and losing against an inferior Luton side in the last minute.. We may have won the UEFA cup the year after, but we were banned … The year after we won the league in the last minutes (like Spurs in 71) ..
History ALWAYS repeats itself
tomstoned – i don’t think any of us like the way Nasri is behaving but right now we are paying him, I think he is a bad egg in the camp and wants a move for money, he’s showing no respect to our club or his manager….
But, we need our strongest side out there today, and he’s being paid to do a job! Let him earn his ‘not so good wage’ for once, then play him in Italy too if he’s still with us….
You old boys are showing your age this morning 😉 😉
Should get some team news soon…
AK, Jimmy is out, he swung his bat and caught at slip 🙂
Rico my first game was -71 still.. my favourite player is charlie george..and just maybe john radford….
stevepalmer..lets just wait and see…or like the man himself says
judge me in may (brigade)you are sentenced and convicted wenger…
It would be great if the “new boys show their worth” but by 2 o’clock it will be plain to see that their worth will be less that either their predecessors or their opposition.Arsenal desperately require new blood-EPL Ready Players who are able to galvinise the most positive elements of the current squad into a side that is capable of competing with all-comers once more!No one who supports Arsenal is saying that this Squad are all bad. There are some world class players at the club.Unfortunately there are also some very poor players who do not deserve a place in either the squad or the team and there are others who’s careers are still in the development stage and still have too much to learn.
But if I’m wrong i’ll be very happy later on today-unfortunately I’m likely to proved right!
Yes SYG, i do remember the buzz….
Big signings always get everyone excited, Marinello, Ball, Blockley, MacDonald, Hudson, Bergkamp, Platt.
The funny thing mate, and as you certainly know your Arsenal history, you can bear me out on this, Arsenal’s most successfull periords, since the War, have been built on squads of players carefully constructed and based around ‘home-made’ players…
Yeah Rico, think we’ll bat all day, and declare after tea or midway thru the afternoon session. That’ll give us 7 sessions to get 20 wickets…
tomstoned, thats spooky, 71 was the year that AFC grabbed me, Charlie George the player – once fan who jumped the gates to play for us – what a guy 🙂
Pleasure Stevie P 😉
This is a simple and true fact, if you boo the team, you are not a Gooner and you should do one.
Fantastic entry today.
Wojciech Szczesny

6 Laurent Koscielny
5 Thomas Vermaelen
25 Carl Jenkinson
14 Theo Walcott

and no i dont boo…never will…
still its my humble opinion that we’re being ripped off..
most important now…c’mon you gunners !!
lets flog the pool’s

joel
the one thing this side today will be fight – and that will make a pleasant change –
Frimpong
Chamberlain
Ryo
Jenkinson
Lansbury (if he features)
Ramsey
They are not players who are thinking about their wage packet, they will be thinking about repying the faith that Wenger has put in them, personally I can’t wait.
Yes, I’d love to be seeing class players out there too but we have a few of them, RvP, AA, Theo, TV, Sagna…
This won’t be a roll over for the dippers as long as we keep Carrol in check 😉
They will all want to prove they are up for this – you could be proved wrong, I sure hope you are
off..here’s the pool team
José Manuel Reina
38 John Flanagan
23 Jamie Carragher
5 Daniel Agger
3 José Enrique
14 Jordan Henderson
20 Jay Spearing
26 Charlie Adam
19 Stewart Downing
7 Luis Suarez
9 Andy Carroll
Thanks Will….
Tom….. the subs?
havent got em Allezkev..sorry mate..
tomstoned
i beleve we are being ripped off too – i’m sure there is money to spend – i just wish our two owners could get together over a beer and talk about AFC properly and the way forward. For me that is a bit of being sensible, looking afer the long term interests but added to that, just a ktty to add what players we need, when we need them…
By that, I don’t mean blowing £50M on a Torres or Tevez, just a £20 Million on Hazard or someone similar…. or £15M on Gary Cahill
😛
Kev – i think you are right re the cricket, we are doing well and big congrats to Bell 🙂
spot on Rico..gotta run have a great game and Weekend mate..c’mon you gunners..
Hazard… c’est bon Rico….. 🙂
Is that line up as bad as we thought??
If Frimpong gets stuck in, we could do really well, anyone else got butterflies 🙂
Come back soon tomstoned, have a good one…
BBC say Nasri starts
’71 is like the early “Wenger Years”… (I was Arsenal from ’72).
When choosing their teams young kids follow teams who are winners – hence the term “Glory boys”..
The thing is, the internet wasn’t around in the seventies and football certainly wasn’t as high profile back then …. We relied on getting feedback from visiting football grounds, watching MOTD, Harry Carps on Sportsnight, Bob Wilson’s “FF” or Brian Moores “On the Ball”…
…There were no blogs back then for the Glory Boys to whinge and whine and talk bollocks moaning about no trophies in 6 years etc.. blogs which the journalists now use to sensationalise the “downbeat” feelings of the fans in their papers and on their websites… which are then relayed through the clubs blogs which they then sensationalise in their papers and on their websites… which are then relayed through the clubs blogs… which they then sensationalise in their papers and on their websites… which are then relayed through the clubs blogs… which they then sensationalised in their papers and on their websites… which are then relayed through the clubs blogs…
Hence the recent and disrungtled 45,000 crowds and the empty seats etc…
The older fans should try to educate the younger “glory boys” with the clubs history..
Manchester City had their best days in the late sixties.. They won a league cup with Denis Tueart mid seventies and had a FA cup final in 81. That’s it. Not much is it.
Pre-Abramovich Chelsea won the ECWC in 71 and a FA Cup v’s Boro. Not much is it?
Look at what Arsenal have won and how many finals we’ve been in since 1968. That’s history.
Buying success is no success.
Team in full: Szczesny, Sagna, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Jenkinson, Frimpong, Ramsey, Nasri, Arshavin, Walcott, Van Persie
Subs: Fabianski, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ryo, Miquel, Chamakh, Lansbury, Bendtner
If we can move the ball quickly, I can see us winning this.
Be nice to see Arshavin play behind RVP.
Nasri playing then, makes me feel Cahill will be arriving shortly.
So buying Paddy, Petit, Anelka, Freddie, Bobby, Edu, Toure, Jens, Henry, Overmars etc etc etc meant Wenger bought success then…
Stevie, i hope you are right, then a goal machine and we’ll be pretty darn good… oh and a LB 😉
nice comment syg, we certainly are full of history….
That’s just where AA should be playing imho 🙂
Not one of those players was a household name thou Rico, but they left as household names
my point though steve is we all pay for players at some stage and those made us winners and without them we may have still been searching for medals…
they weren’t kids either, not all, they were rough diamonds mixed in awith a few young uns..
the game has changed because of the rich ownners and it’s easy to go and buy up all the stars, i love the signings wenger has made but a couple of good older rough uns, who will be diamonds wouldn’t go a miss….
Anyways, big game, score predictions??
I would agree that experience in defence is a must, and i still believe he has a deal in i just hope i’m not wrong.
Rico, as far as strikers go, i think you have had it there.
Rico, did they cost £200M and bought over two seasons?
If nik stays, i think so too Steve and it’s looking like he will…
Funny how he was so sure he would leave us, how good he is yet now he’s on the market, no-one wants him…..
We could be stuck with him, saying that though, right now i’d rather him on the pitch than Chamakh, he should go on loan somewhere….
Can’t see a left back either, Miquel trayore and gibbs and thomas if needed can’t see it, i would have loved him to have kept our Rangers man available but he knows best.
That’s not the point Will, they weren’t cheap back in the day before sugar daddy owners….
A few were, like Anelka, but not all….
It’s horses for courses in the way football has changed, I know you don’t like it, nor do many but thats the way it is and we have to put up with it….
Had AU bought us, he’d have followed the rich teams i am sure and that day may yet arrive…
Traore could be off Steve, QPR are interested in him, Warnock has money in his pocket after their takeover…
I think you are being pedantic Rico. You can not say unknowns and cast off’s is the same as buying world class “stars” in one or two windows.
Chammy will come good i’m sure if not who’s going to buy him, but at least we won’t lose too much money on him
Pedantic, no, writing how i feel, yes….
‘unknowns and cast offs’ – not my words Will…
Chamakh, well many think its the super injunction affecting his game, sad really, he started so well last season..
He needs a convidence building goal or two..
They are my words Rico. Anyone heard of Anelka? Vieira? Ljungberg? No one wanted Overmars, had you heard of Petit? I hadn’t.
Can you honestly tell me you had heard of Toure? No one wanted Henry, he was on the bench at Juve. Even Bergkamp was seen as a rick as he was a failure at Inter.
Unknowns and cast off bought over 5 or 6 seasons, not like City or Chelsea who buy a squad a summer.
Buying success is no success.
Nas looks aprehensive when he walked out hope he shakes that off
Hello guys. Does anyone know the religion of frimpong?
oops, lucky Frimpong there…
who is the co-commentator on ESPN?
Hi ADK
Ghana born, moved to england when he was young, can play for either england or ghana, he’s chosen the latter…
Frimpong’s religion?
He believe’s in Arsenal…..
The word “PEDANTIC” often gets misused.
Pedantic sort of means putting things over that you are overly-intelligent in a kind of underhanded way…
Example – normal man in the street: “you’re a sneaky twat and you’re talking bollocks.”
Example – Pedantic – (in the voice of D Hillwood): “The manner that you come across is really quite surreptitious and quite borders on the supercilious and frankly, a lot of what you say I cannot begin to comprehend.”
I don’t think Rico’s feelings are posted that way.
🙂 kev,
silly me answered that question wrong …..
silly frimpong….
I am sorry but a liverpool fan as co-commentator is a joke.
And we are seeing some more fucking atrocious decisions against us.
Who the fuck is this wanker if a ref?
It’s not in my nature SYG…
Foul missed on Theo….
Rico, still want to see we are treated the same as every other team?
Bollox, Kos injured and out, done his back in….
He’s not going to be back for a while…. thats serious!!
Now Wenger needs to buy a couple of centre backs.
Always have done Will..
This ref is atrocious.
AA is having a mare….
Just needs a massage rico, think i’ll need one after this
Cracking Ches…
Why wasn’t the player who fouled Theo even talked too, let alone booked for a professional foul?
Me too… 🙂
This ref is cheating. Plain and fucking simple.
i thought it was his disc at first steve, looked horrid….
Frimpong is going to see red if he isn’t careful…..
All a Liverpool player has to do is fall over to get a foul. This is horrible to watch;.
Me too Kev 😉
Serves the thug right….
where the heck are our players, fab cross to no-one…….
We have no strikers.
That Alan Green, so even-handed in his commentating..!
RvP and Walcott are not in this game… at the moment
AA has to come off at half-time.
How was the Jenkinson one a foul but that one on Nasri no foul?
Frimpong should come off now,…..
I think he’ll be off soon enough with this ref
I agree with you Steve, I think this ref is waiting for a chance to send him off.
Liverpool have done worse fouls and he has done nothing about it.
thats what i mean steve, he’s got the bit between the teeth and he’s taking it a bit too far…
shame…
Frimpong is doing that himself….
If he cuts out the niggling stuff, he’ll be class… but he’s still young and very determined, can’t fault that….
Loving Frimpong.
Can’t fault nasri so far…..
lose Arshavi and lets see ryo
Whatever you say about Nasri he has been a model pro
thanks rico, but I meant if you know what his religious belief is? Christian, Muslim etc.?
And speaking of Frimpong. He’s a beast! I’m starting to think, Song should be his deputy, not the other way around! 😀
I think Song will be worried …. Frimpong has grown as the game has gone on …
Am I the only one, sad about seeing Nasri go? :/
Frimpong will learn with experience how to foul and get away with it.
Very encouraged with his 1st 45.
Miyaichi for Arshavin with 25 minutes to go….?
Notice how the crowd have warmed to the effort Frim is putting in?
Can’t fault Nasri… Vermaelen is immense…
Song at centre-half in Italy???
Not gone yet ADK
I honestly don’t think we’ve got a lot to Worry about – They’re growing as the game goes on.
RVP has never been my idea as a central striker as much as I like the guy… and Walcott has been anonymous, possibly because we are trying to switch play away from Jenkinson and Downing maybe …
Sourez will stir us up
Steve, do you reckon, it’s not 100 % sure that he will go to city ??
Just hope we can keep it up but saying that, Liverpool seemed to tire as the half went on.
Liverpool have a complete lack of ideas in attack if you ask me. Long balls in our box, and they wait for carroll to head the ball in..
Nasri showing his class, twice the player Ramsey is. Completely forgot Walcott was playing..
I realised too late ADK 😉
This sums up Frimpong:
“I will never leave Arsenal even if I get released I will beg on both knees to stay they have to escort me away.”
Wouldn’t put my money on it ADK but i have known players to change their minds and in a fight it can be an eye opener
Nasri is Arsenal’s until the day he signs elsewhere……
Steve – i think we could see both Ryo and Chamberlain, as long as no more injuries happen
i hope you’re right steve.. whats the point of getting M22 £ for him when we won’t reinvest the money anyway…
Its so sad to see empty seasts and worse to hear the fans so quiet….
Lansbury and Nik warming up…..
Lost the signal let me know whats happening sky f useless
AA has to come off.
AA needs to come off now, seen enough of his wayward passing, that was shocking…
Come on AW, nows the time for the changes, dippers are tiring….
Frimpong is everywhere 🙂
BBC report that Nasri is going to stay for this season…. 😕
Sheet, really Kev…
Robin, how did you miss 🙁
Bollox. Frimpong red card!!
The ref got his way, never a foul let alone a booking.
Now we need to buy a DM……
Will, you being serious??
I knew it, well laid plans and all that Liverpools twelth man don us up three players out for two and three games typical
Lansbury on for AA
🙂
Rico, having played the game, that was never a foul.
Only got the radio, no sky signal what a shit day this is COYG
Good to see Lansbury on…..
Now the 10 men need to show some real Arsenal spirit….
Having played the game myself too, that was a shocker, studs into the shin…..
Studs? Are you watching Arsenal Vs Liverpool?
Sure is Kev, shame it’s under such circs…
Stop arguing you two and tell me whats happening
Sometimes Will you can be so patronising!
No idea, lost connection once the Liverpool ref got his way.
That was not patronising Rico, Frimpong barely brushed the guy with his toes, there is no way on earth that connection coule make a player flip like that, it is physically impossible.
The player dived knowing the ref was looking to settle the game.
We have just conceded the most awful goal Steve, thats what’s happening!
Rotten rotten luck…. clearance rebounded onto Ramsey then into the goal….
Thank you not
The footballing gods are not smiling on us.
The only thing of note the Welsh Denilson does all day is stick it in our own goal..
TV replays show that Luis Suarez was – marginally – offside when he picked up the ball for that Liverpool goal, which will make it even more difficult for Arsenal fans to swallow.
Ramsey has had a bad day at the office ESP….
Whats happened to Jenks
I’v yet to see him have a good one to be honest
Cramp Steve
OT last season ESP, he and Jack were immense…
I bet if you watched this again, every 50-50 went their way.
That should have been a penalty on RvP, carragher probably doesn’t hug his wife like that…..
Outsung at home by the Dipper fans, that’s sad…..
Ah yes another farce from the jokes of the premier league…. Can’t see why Nasri would want to play in a team full of nobodies. All the best to him off to better things.
Arron Ramsey shouldn’t be let anywhere near that team, the fact he is a starter tells you all you need to know about the state of our team.
Theo Walcott is another, no other “top 4” team would allow that clown play 80 minutes.
Enough is enough, Wenger Out.
Good Lord and with that, I wish you all the best.
Sorry Steve, I tried.
hi guys….
just saw the game…..
bad loss…..boys played well…
but the men stole the show…..
it was boys against men…….
wenger needs to spend some f****king money….
otherwise we wont win anything or get in the top 4 ….
im seriously concerned….
he resigns or gets the sack…..
Rico, i was only listening to the radio in 2nd 45.
Was their first goal off-side?
The referee, did he favour the ‘DSS boys’….
Until the sending off we were holding our own, just…
Wenger has a lot to think about now, eleven days left and we desperately need a CH, Goal scorer, DM…
There were some good performances by a few, TV, Ches, Kos, Miquel, Sagna, Jenkinson and Frimpong up until his last tackle…
Bad days for Theo, Ramsey, RvP, AA,
One foot offside for their first goal, re the ref, depends who you ask Kev 😉
He missed one def pen for us, missed a nasty tackle on theo first thing and i think that affected theo’s game..
I think we would have held on with eleven…
But, if this game makes Wenger wake up, then I’ll take the loss….
If Wenger had kept his “promise” in May to buy 2 or 3 players……
If only Merlin, but some will say he did, but just not in the positions we had hoped for….
Redknapp agrees the first goal was offside and shouldn’t have been given….
But come on rico! Neither Ramsey or Walcott are good enough to play for Arsenal, Walcott has been a total bust since coming to Arsenal, no need to give that guy time on the pitch. And Ramsey is a glorified squad player thats all he is, 10 minute run at the end of the game is all he deserves.
Rico, i’m hearing the 2nd goal was offside as well….?
frimpong was a clear red card……
suarez was offiside eas 50-50….
no time to make excuses…..
he signs some experience or he is out…
Actually, looking at the second goal, when the ball was played forward, the eventual goal scorer was offside, he wasn’t deemed interfering with play, but he then scores, is that not wrong too??
Not that it makes a difference now…..
ESP,
Did you think that against Udinese last Tuesday?? 😉
Whats the point of buying new players when they send them off quicker than we can field them. three players out for the manc’s game and you think that is not planned don’t make me laugh, for all you supporters that show no support at all i hope your satisfied
no time to make excuses….
if that was offside or no…..
kids will not win us anything…..
these are our first teamers now ….we have to get experience….
wengers words will be ”we played well for 70 mins luck wasnt on our side” ”we deserve better”…..
we hardly made a chance…..
So, if i’m right, we lost one of our cenre-halfs……
Had one of our best performers sent off….
Walcott was seriously fouled [not given]….
Was RVP fouled for the pen? [not given]….
The Officials miss two offsides for Liverpools two goals…
Mike ‘wanker’ Riley was in the stands….
Sounds like your average Arsenal game [stitch-up]…
It’s gonna be a great season… 😀
Steve – all three of our red cards this season have been right though, we can’t complain about them…
Satisfied, after that, no way – seeing the empty seats, hearing the booing at the end, hearing one fan telling either nik or the to Feck Off when wenger made his substitution…
I’m far from satisfied…..
How hard is it to play against ten men after all
Yes I did, I have no time for Theo Walcott. And Arron Ramsey has done nothing to deserve a start for Arsenal.
Samir Nasri is a different class to the rest of the chumps there and guess where he will play the rest of his football this season, i’ll give you a hint, not with us.
Frimpongs tackle was a straight red, there is no discipline in the team at all..
More and more problems that will not be solved by Wenger.
im concerned…..
we could not qualify with these cl…
udinese can certainly get two against us……
next up manu…..
we could lose that….
by that time wengers job will be in jeopardy by me,you and every fan of arsenal…..
AF, will be interesting to hear what he says..
That’s pretty much it Kev 😉
We often struggle against ten Steve, oppos shut up shop, we din’t today….
we all know what he is going to say….
not interested in hearing excuses…
i say do your work ….relax and chill so that you are prepared for week of high tension.high bp and nervousness…
Fair enough ESP…
Totally agree re the rest in your last, straight red and Nasri was one of our better players today… BBC are reporting he is staying..
I can’t see it though…
Now is the most important eleven days in AW’s career imho….
REDknapp reckon PSG would love to have Wenger, they have bucket loads of money to give him to spend…..
Is Redknapp for real, we have money, AW just needs to spend it and fast….
No I/V yet from Arsene???
Merlin, he’s brought four what is your point
No interview from Wenger?
Samba not on Blackburn squad…..
Frimpong looked right to me at the start of the game it looked to me as though it was our throw, he just went to get the ball but they never showed the playback and he got booked i wonder why
Not yet ESP
Thats interesting Kev, Keen said he was back for todays game…
Are B’ham playing today??
Rico, how did Henri do..?
He was doing a lot of f-ing and jeffing at the ref today Steve, could have been dissent…
I’d love to be a fly on the wall in the afc dressing room….
Tough to judge really kev,
i’d like to have seen him with eleven on the pitch, he got stuck in and got a yellow card for his tackle and a bit of chat after… His tackle didn’t make any contact with their player….
Birmingham [a] to M’Boro on Sunday…
From Goonertalk
Arsenal defender Sébastien Squillaci is not in Arsene Wenger’s plans for this season, according to the club’s psychological profiler.
Jacques Crevoisier, who has known Wenger for over 40 years, told French TV that the former Sevilla centre back is unlikely to be involved – hinting that a quick-fix defensive acquisition will happen soon.
At 31-years-old, Squillaci is one of the elder statesmen of an Arsenal team which has struggled to address it’s centre-half issues over the past few seasons.

thanks kev, still no appearance from AW
Eastside Paul – exactly my thoughts.
Ramsey was as powderpuff as was Walcott clueless as Arshavin was frustrating. And RVP is wasted in the lone role.
Bendtner should never have been brought on
Frimpong played well, but the fragile mentality showed its head.
No different to Song or Gervinho.
Apart from that Liverpool did nothing to show that they were a class above. Very lucky o.g and caught us on the counter whilst trying to claw it back.
Wenger knows what’s need. Sheer stubbornness
French Television report that Nari talks with Citeh have broken down…
How about Nasri signs a new deal and we forget this whole ugly situation??
I think we need him to ESP
I cry……I just can’t stop crying
Hi goonster – not a good day for gooners eh…..
Off to do a bit of shopping, a bottle of gin me thinks 😉
Back in a bit……
Cry?
That’s very gay.
Down to 10-men. Before that never overawed. Ramsey, Walcott and Arshavin were mediocre – nothing went for them so RVP was isolated.
Vermaelen & Szc were sound.
That’s very gay???
SYG, that’s very Yorkshire…. 😆
No nancy boys up here lad….. 😆
Fuck……. don’t know why i’m larfing……..
Despite his red card, i think that Frimpong made a positive impression. At least he seemed to show that wearing a red shirt meant something, to him at least…
SYG…….am sure you don’t know what it means to me growing up supporting the arse…..no disrespect sir but am not sure you are a gooner. End of.
Allezkev
nice one!
It’s not the end of the world.
We lost 1-2 at home to Leeds the year we won the 2002 double in not too dissimilar circumstances. Harte took a quick free kick…
HISTORY ALWAYS REPEATS ITSELF!
hello all
Christ. Bendtner was a sub. His still around
Mt barbed wire canoe in that particular creek is starting to leak
Dein has been on BBC justifying AW’s existence
SYG, i also recall losing at home 3-2 to Aston Villa when we won in 1988-89.
To be honest mate, Udinese [a] is the priority to me.
Goonster….
I was heartbroken when we were turned over by Ipswich in 1978 and sort of left home so my dad couldn’t take the piss – I was 13…
I was over the moon whilst driving from Leicestershire to Doncaster after 12 hours underground, when on the A46 Bingham roundabout Michael Thomas scored to make it 2-0. I can’t explain the elation.
I don’t know what the definition of a gooner is, as all Arsenal supporters are different. Just read the blogs!
Allezkev
we did them 3-0 on Boxing day….
McInally was awesome for Villa that day. Didn’t they go 2 or 3 up?
Goonster, SYG was only joking mate, chill out….
Not sure now SYG, but i don’t think many AFC fans in Highbury that day, thought that we’d win the league at the time…
Great days SYG. The scenes outside Islington Town Hall were amazing……
Just got back from the game. Considering the team we had out the crowd supported the players well and gave Nasri and easy time. He did just enough to justify his place but only just. Arshavin, Walcott and Ramsay were pretty awful but the rest did ok. I doubt we would have lost if Frimpong had stayed on. Liverpool seem to me an object lesson in how not to spend money. Downing, Carroll and Henderson were absolute rubbish and only cost about £75 million. Frimpong showed that the idiotic Song will have some competition when he gets back from his moronic suspension. At the moment we are a great club being let down by a very poor manager who seems intent on loosing the backing of the fans with his intransigence. I have been a supporter for many, many years and have never heard such resignation from those sitting around me. So far this season it is going just aout how I anticipated. The road ahead is rocky and the ship may have to flounder before a proper course is restored.
By the New Year 3-1 away to Everton we were on fire … But we always tend to bollocks it up for ourselves and make things hard … Dean Saunders gave us food for thought in a 1-2 home defeat as did Forest … We fluffed our lines v’s both Wimbledon and Charlton too … We should have had the title sewn up by Easter…
That’s what’s brilliant about football….
Hiya Adam – at work but caught the match via live stream –
I must have seen the same match as you.
Adam, what about the defence, can you see an improvement, all things considered..?
Vermaelen & Sagna had good games according to the radio…
And Szczesny also had a solid match, not at fault for goals i heard..?
Am sorry SYG….am just not used to seeing the arse fall apart like this. Its tearing me apart..am sorry guys..didn’t mean to bring you down…heading to the pub to drown my sorrows later guys.
SYG. Funny atmosphere at the ground these last couple of games. The crowd know the team is very average yet try to show support. And this, despite being completely mugged off by Wenger and the board. Shows great spirit and commendable resilience I think. Funny thing for me personally is that I used to get really upset after a result like that, but today I am surprisingly at ease with it. I thought there were some good performances from too many young boys being asked to do too much. But, no- one except an idiot can really be surprised at the season so far. It is so easy to see where the club is heading. If the man at the helm hasn’t got a clue, why should we worry? The season will take it’s course. Wenger either will or won’t buy the players we need. If he doesn’t, he will leave sooner rather than later and another bloke will come in. We will then see a different Arsenal which may or may not be better than this one. C’est la vie mon ami.
No probs Goonster..
We weren’t great but we weren’t dire. As Adam said – if Frimpong had stayed on we would have probably won the match. We certainly wouldn’t have lost.
Dire and falling apart? Check the 1974-5 and 75-76 season. We were toss.
hi Kev.. I do see an improvement in the defense but that is probably because Squillaci is nowhere to be seen. There is a bit more organization and Vermaelen was immense today. Frimpong is a better shield for them and nipped a lot in the bud. I won’t criticize the team at all. Some players will have an off day. My criticism is reserved for one man.
Cheers for that Adam.
Even the dumbest fan knows what’s needed. If they know then surely Wenger has to know.
We need four top players. And not Africans or teenagers
If Nasri does stay and leave at the end of the season on a free it will be one of the most stupid decisions ever made at a football club. How can you spend your time constantly bitching to the press about the processor players and the high wages and then throw away £25 million plus wages on one player, for one season. Especially a player who doesn’t want to play for you.
Wenger Out!
SYG. I will take issue with you when you say that, even the dumbest fan know what is needed. If only that were so my friend.
Yeah, Adam, i think that once Frimpong has matured , that we’re gonna have a big big player in that lad.
Adam, i know how you feel about AW, but i still tend to lump most of the blame on The Board, rightly or wrongly.
You see, we’ve all followed our club a long time, long enough to know what tight-wads we have in the Boardroom…
Well, that’s my take on it…
I’ll be able to give a more considered view after the Swansea game, as that’ll be my first visit to the Grove this season…
Lost their captain
Heavy press slander of our manager and club
Lost several players
No debt
Two offside goals on of them an freakish own goal
Another player harshly sent off
Another questionable ref performance.
Do the Arsenal fans come together and get behind our team?
No, the bitch and moan like a bunch of spoilt rich self entitled brats who ask the bouncer “do you know who I am?” when declined entrance to the best club in town.
Call yourself Arsenal fans? You disgust and shame me.
Adam – You make total sense
The “Wenger Out” is not something I’d clamour for – its more “Wenger get someone in”.
A man doesn’t just suddenly become a shit manager.
He needs his hands forced by the board or some body high up to reinforce properly.
I don’t mind the Wilshires, the Lansbury’s, the Frompongs, the Miguels etc. They are sound.
What I mind is the toss and the deadwood that have been parading as Arsenal players for the past few years on massive money, who Wenger wouldn’t move on… or who he can’t move on
He’s got it a 33.3% right at the moment. He has shifted the deadwood or at least trying to shift the deadwood….
Another 33.3% would be not to buy teenagers and Africans for the 1st team
The other 33.3% would be to invest in 4 top players.
Nasri staying would be a suicidal business decision unless he puts pen to paper for an extension.
Kev. Honestly. I have nothing but respect for Wenger and think the board are largely impotent as none of them, apart from Stan, have any financial stake in the club. Relations between Gazidis, who has the ear of Kroenke, and Wenger are bad. Usmanov, who has lots and lots of money can’t even get a seat on the board. The timing of Danny’s death and hence Kroenke’s arrival has coincided with Wenger’s loss of control of the players and as I have said before, there is no way that Stan’s first meaningful move at the club will be to sack Wenger. Things will need to take their own course and this will come initially through results and then through the fan’s relationship with the club. No amount of moaning on the Net will make Wenger change his ways. That will come from the fans at the games because, as Gazidis tellingly said, it is they who will decide his future ultimately.
Hiya Will
People have different ways of expressing their feelings.
Liverpool mugged us. End of story.
They weren’t that good and we weren’t piss poor. I’ve seen us play better but I’ve seen us play worse – a lot worse.
But as said, people have different ways of expressing themselves. Why? because we are all different.
However, we all want the same end product. Arsenal to thrash every team by four or five goals and win everything in sight. I think every Arsenal fan on here would like that.
Disgust and shame are heavy words.
They are how I fell, so many throwing the toys out of the pram. We are not entitled to win anything and this booing and calling for people’s heads does nothing but harm the club and the team.
Do you think the press get their opinions on the fans feelings from asking them or trawling websites like this?
Also Kev I must say that the crowd were very supportive today. I think that bears repeating. At one point a few started the “spend some f…..g money” chant but that was soon drowned out by positive support. It was good.
Well, Udinese is THE game now….
Koscielny, Djourou probably out, Gibbs out, Traore out, Squillaci not even in contention.
So it looks as if Song will partner Vermaelen, unless AW takes a risk on Miquel..?
Gervinho will be back, Wilshere???
It’s gonna be a night when i think i’ll have to have a few beers to be able to relax…
Miquel started nervously today but that was understandable. After that I though he looked like a player.
Adam, that is good to hear, whatever the problems and differing views between us, we simply have to show a united front during matches.
I think the message is getting through mate…
There are problems, some avoidable some just pure bad luck, but we’ve got to stick together during this shitty period.
Believe me Kev I have known things a lot worse than this.
That’s good to hear Adam. I saw him in the Leyton Orient game last season and thought he did ok.
Wonder if AW maybe should have held onto Bartley a bit longer, before sending him on loan?
Will – Trawling the web, pal.
Journalists use the blogs to sensationalise the “downbeat” feelings of the fans in their papers and on their papers websites… which are then relayed through the clubs blogs which they then re-sensationalised in their papers and on their websites… which are then relayed through the clubs blogs… which they then re-sensationalised in their papers and on their websites… which are then relayed through the clubs blogs… which they then re-sensationalised in their papers and on their websites… which are then relayed through the clubs blogs…
Hence the recent and disrungtled 45,000 crowds and the empty seats etc…
Its how you manipulate the shallow and subversive.
If the Daily Star ran the story picked up from a general Arsenal blog that: “Snjeider was allegedly seen with Van Persie in St Albans in their tracksuits” the blogs would be jammed packed within the hour…
The same applies if the Sun were to run a the story of “Mourinho meets with Usmanov and David Dein” ..again the blogs would be jammed packed within the hour…
You would then see the other papers recycle and plagiarise it and the blogs become even more intense…
Papers use the blogs like the blogs use the newspapers – its a vicious circle.
Me to Adam, when SYG mentioned 74-75 and 75-76, it’s a bit of a wake-up call.
Standing in crowds of 13,000 and 14,000….
It’s another world mate…
This is what I am saying SYG, so we say fuck you world, we are The Arsenal, the ONLY team great enough to have THE in their title.
We support on every blog, we send positive messges out all the time and let the piss-poor journo’s pick the bones out of that.
I’ll tell ya what SYG, i read a comment on Jamie Sanderson’s Young Guns twitter, about Blackburn enquiring about Lansbury 2 weeks ago, only the other day.
The follow day it was in the gossip pages of the papers…
Coincidence?
Exactly Kev, I was there then, I watched the Mancini teams so we have nothing to be upset at.
Oh God, yeah, that was a low point Will.
1975-76, i went to every game, home and away….
Arsenal won twice on their travels, what a shit season to go to every game Will….. 🙁
A lot of the sports journalists are lazy bastards and they sniff around the blogs letting the fans do the work …
Look at all the bollocks they print about who we are in for …. We must have been linked with 250 players…
What did Wenger say after the game, anyone know??
What is happening to our club? Can someone please tell me something that can cheer me up a bit..? I’m so depressed right now..
Here you go Rico.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14603178.stm
Kev, I went to every home game, I was a tad young to go to every away but I went to all the London away’s.
SYG, that is why I am saying stop the bitching on the blogs. Make the journo’s actually earn their wage.
BBC – preparing Wenger’s Obituary
They’ve even lined up the trophies he’s helped us win – nice touch.
It’s something they generally do when a player or manager dies.. or is sacked..
Four defenders out, new signing harshly banned, fans morale down, playing against a team who had £100M spent on it this summer and to be honest, we more than matched them and they were diving all over the place so that showed me their fear.
Things are not as bad as you think guys.
India 17 for 2…….. 😀
Hi Rico. In actual fact the football journalists get most of their info from the clubs, agents and other journalists. Unfortunately the levels of alcoholism are so high they misunderstand what is being said most of the time. But if you follow the very few who have a bit of discretion, they are often right. A lot of them are quite oafish though and easy targets for the web trolls to use as excuses though quite how they caused Arsenal to loose today has eluded me.
Sorry I meant lose today.
Web trolls?
Get past Udinese, wipe ya mouth at OT, then beat Swansea, and the season starts for me.
It was always gonna be a difficult start to the season.
But the injuries are just stinking luck…
I have never seen an injury list like this at the start of the season.
Thanks for the link…
No-one expected him to say he’d walk away, one thing he’s not and that’s a quitter, he’d have gone long before now if he was….
He needs to look in the mirror and ask himself honestly if there is something he can do to change what is going on – that answer has to be yes…
“I don’t feel under any more pressure than usual. I feel the result was very harsh on us and the decider was the sending off. Emmanuel Frimpong was a victim of his lack of experience. He deserved a second yellow and shouldn’t have gone into that tackle.”
Is that not exactly why so so many fans just ask him to buy a little bit of experience every now and again.
Frimpong was very good today, in fact I’d say he’s better all round than Song but yes, he’s inexperienced but the question is, should he been thrown in at the deep end?
He’s not even played in the CC yet, nor has he played regular for a long time because of injury – too much expected of him inho…
Adam, El Vino’s in Fleet St has never been the same since News Corp moved to Docklands…
Rico. Frimpong raised the crowd so don’t be too harsh on him. Team spirit was good and the crowd responded because they can sense a trier.
Kev. Are you a journalist then?
Hi Adam,
That’s just why i don’t believe a word the journo’s write, fans can see for themselves what is going on without the aid of all reporters who clearly love writing negative things about us….
With fans it’s different, we love the club and discuss our own views…
Why oh why do we suffer so many injuries, something has to be behind this, but what? is it diet, training, lack of physical work?
It has to be something….
RICO. Arsenal are always news. Whether it’s good or bad they have always attracted criticism and praise. Look at the column inches they get in comparison to Chelsea or even Man Utd. Arsenal are always news.
Adam – i’m not being harsh on him, honest – i thought he was outstanding and showed a lot of other players what it means to play for Arsenal..
But, in time, when he learns not to make rash tackles, he’ll be as good as Essien if not better… Wilshere had to learn discipline, so does Frimpong BUT maybe a sending off will give him that lesson a little bit quicker…
He had a tear in his eye when he went off i’m sure, if only other players we have had that depth of passion for our club….
RICO. Anyway, my new season’s resolution is to open a better bottle of wine with every defeat. Last week it was Champagne that the wife and I sipped through Saturday evening. This time it shall be claret. The drink of gentlemen and Arsenal supporters.
No Adam, but i know a few and have met a few.
Fleet St has never been the same since they all moved out.
As for alcholism, it’s rife, partly the pressure of the job, partly all the free drinks at football grounds.
Adam, do you know any journos?
But we don’t have to read it Adam 😉
Well, we don’t have to believe it…..
Who would play Song and Frimpong on Wednesday?
I thought the ref was way to quick with the first yellow. A good ref would have pulled him to the side and said “look, I know this is your debut and you are trying to impress but you can’t do that, do anything like that again and I will book you”.
I shall toast you and Frimpong then Rico and I might even have a sip on Kev. He seems like a mensch.
Hope it’s French Adam 😉
As am I Adam 😉 😉
Kev. To my eternal shame I am a journo but not in the field of sports. But I promise to wear a hair shirt for an hour tomorrow in penance. I have met and chatted with most of the culprits though through friends and various other shitheads.
Cheers Adam
Rico, i like anything vino, but prefer an Italian…..
Er, wine that is… 😉
Did you guys see the earlier piece from GoonerTalk??
Squiili is not in Wengers plans for this season, surely that suggests he’s going to buy a CH….
All claret is French Rico. Don’t tease me because I know you know that.
Adam….. you are forgiven my friend…..
I shall moderate my language about your proffession in respect of you, in the future my friend…..
Squill is not in Wenger’s plans?? This calls for a premier cru.
I won’t 😉
😛 Adam, you sure it’s always French?? 😉
Yes Rico, i did see that… Not a totally bad day all in all then… 😉
Kev, I’m a french dry – no1 is best and the cheaper the better 🙂
Kev. Abuse away all you want mate. My branch of journalism, though curiously relevant to some here, is far removed from the tabloids and more magazine linked.
French dry is good Rico, i’m not choosey….
South American is good.
One thing i was pleased about with Wenger, at least he didn’t make excuses about frimpong’s sending off, i was amazed he ‘saw it’ 😉
Hopefully the video evidence will show that the referee’s decision was wrong about the throw in where Frim got booked and inciting Frims language the ref got it wrong plain and simple and the referee’s commitee will see sense and not ban Frimpong.
After all isn’t that what video evidence does find the truth. we’ll see
Rico. At the risk of coming over as a wine pseud, yes claret is always French and always from the area of Bordeaux. Now you should know the old adage that life is too short to drink cheap wine. Arsene is a oenophile too you know ( wine lover). It has become something of a hobby of mine though I only drink it once a week.
Chardonnay, or the deep reds, yuck, two glasses and i suffer a huge headache….
otherwise, i don’t think i’d be that fussy either, it’s rude to say no to a glass 😉
That’s interesting Adam.
Actually i, to be fair, drive for a living….
I’ll leave you to work it out? But i’m very good at ensuring that people don’t miss their train on a Friday night…. 😉
Rico. Yes, but are those two glasses pints? Kev. I think you may have dropped me at The Ark the other week.
This is great Rico.
You should start up a HH wine club……. 😀
Oh it was you, was it Adam?
Lucky your wife didn’t see ya… 😉
Adam 😆
I think wine is one area where Wenger would thrash Old Red Nose 😉
Kev. More days like today and we’ll all need a couple on a Saturday night.
Ha ha, not at all, just the small measure….
Like wine should Kev, it dulls the memory of that game 😉
Well i’m gonna be well oiled this Weds’ Adam/Rico, it’s gonna be a fraught 90 mins…..
Fergie knows his clarets though moderation is not his forte. After all, the world all looks the same throughout the bottom of a glass. I am told Wenger’s is something of an expert on the wines of Alsace, his home region. On a salary of £6 mil a year, he can probably afford most bottles.
You won’t be alone Kev 😉 At least a few are back for that game, will be interesting to see if Nasri is still with us than and whether he plays…
If he plays, he’s staying….
Adam, i like the fergie bit 🙂
Adam, he’s probably got his own vineyard…
OK folks. It has been fun chatting to you and has taken my mind off today’s irritating result. Have a good night and I will drink a toast to all true Gooners. Watch out for me in Piccadilly this week Kev.
Got to go guys, will be back later – nurse duties for me…
Laters all….
Rico, i’ve got mixed feelings about Nasri staying.
I agree with Adam about the financial risks of keeping him.
£25million is a lot of dough to gamble with.
At the same time, we’re so light in midfield, that unless AW signs someone, we’ll be in shit st if he goes.
Wonder if City are trying to screw us over the fee???
The week after next Adam. I shall look out for the guy outside the Ritz with a bottle of champers under his arm. I’ll see ya then… 😉
I think we now need two CB’s, I would be happy to have one on loan. We need a claver ball player and we need an out and out striker.
I think given the games, Frimpong will be devastating in the middle and we have to let him learn to reap the rewards.
we won’t be buying anyone …
on potential new signings…
We look, you know? But we try to do the right things for the Club. I think Koscielny and Vermaelen are a fantastic pair of centre backs but it’s very difficult as well because if you buy another centre back and then someone gets injured I have to buy another one. You cannot do that every time you have an injured player.
That’s the sad part about Koscielny getting injured Will.
With the promise shown by Miquel and Bartley, AW could have got away with maybe signing only one centre-half….
Now i’m not so sure.
But ditching Squillaci would certainly be a change. He doesn’t usually ‘get rid’ so quickly.
Frimpong looks a real find.
Why on earth don’t England make sure he represents them?
ADK, i think AW will sign a couple more players mate.
But not before Udinese…
I’m offski Gooners.
Keep The Faith…..
I can see at least 2 signings.
Kev and will i wish i was as confident as you about the signings…
Say ooh ooh ooh to be, ooh to be a GOONER.
Only you about then Will?
We must have lost….. 😕
Arsene will sort this out, he’s got a little time. Good post 47!!! Just watching the second leg of el Classico…. Benzema would be mustard at a proper club!! 😉
3 signings is all we need…
Hi Lee.
Did you go?
What was the atmosphere like?
Any booing??
What players impressed ya?
And who didn’t???
still mopeing with you. all jokes asside i thought the team showed a lot of spirit, if these youngsters can build on these early games their fighting spirit will come good in the end
I watched the first half, over the shoulder of my son, who had it on his laptop.
Listened to second half on the radio…
Frimpong seemed to get the fans going.
Didn’t go 47, but my pals were there and couldn’t praise Frimpong enough…I know sent off but they really feel he is gonna be the “real deal” we desperately need a CB and a CF…. This will sort itself out….
Evening guys….
Steve/47, two proper players and the youngsters step up, we’ll be ok….. We are “the arsenal”
Evening Le Boss 😉
Liverpool got lucky, they caught us at a low ebb.
I still think we’ll finish above them and the Yids.
Just me.
Evening Rico…..we should raid Everton, no dough…baines,Fellini jagielka, Roswell or arteta????
Players have started emerging not long now, Frimpong and vermaelen were for me the best today but Jenks will come good , sagna good as well theo Arsh Robin did not do themselves justice to day Nas after all the hullabaloo showed he is a true profesional whether he goes or stays i wish him well, we played aginst an over the hundred million team today and that showed its not always about spending money this pools team will improve but on todays performance they definitly needed their twelth man, something we have come to expect
Rodwell even… We’ll go after Roswell as he’ll be cheaper!! 😉
UFO’s Lee…… 😀
Rico, you watching the X Factor..? 🙂
I don’t think yoyu are far off there Lee, Wenger says he’s looking 😉
I still think he’s waiting to see what happens wednesday, its a great shame really as had he bought what we need in May, we would have buried the tie at home….
Italy is going to be a tough task…
Is RvP back, or did he get a three match ban?
A summer of discontent.
Fans on their backs
A manager and club in crises
New striker banned
Captain gone
Playing against a team that has just had £100M spent on it
Sorry Rico, but a ref that was a little one sided.
Three debut’s today
Another very harsh sending off
And we still more than held our own and showed that we have the basis of a VERY good team here.
Heads up guys, for we are The Arsenal.
Its recording Kev – you watching 🙂
Steve, the official thing is a fucking joke against us… I know Will bangs on about it but for fuck sake it’s a fuckin massive hinderance!! To say the least… But as supporters we need to get behind the squad… these early games will shape our season so let’s fucking support them!!
Hi Lee – fellaini in a flash 🙂
Will, we will have to disagree on the sending off, Frimpong’s second yellow could have easy been a straight red…
Regardless, he was one of better players today and he’ll learn, he was gutted to be sent off…
Will, we’ve been two players away from silverware for the last six years personally I think AW will get the right players, I really do!!
My pals said straight red however if we can harness his ability… we’ ll have a fucking good player!!
Good words there Lee you can count on me thats for sure.
Rico Robins back one game they wanted to make it the whole season but thought someone might notice
All the doom and gloom pisses me off Steve.
We’ve got such a fantastic clutch of players coming on stream.
With some more crackers coming along behind.
Afobe, Henderson [when fit], Aneke, Coquelin, Galindo & Wellington [when he sorts his head out]…
Everyone was suprised how well Wilshere did 12 months ago.
This time the suprise is Frimpong…
And we haven’t seen Ryo or Oxo yet..?
Whose gonna be the suprise package next year..?
Steve – i thought Jenkinson was also one of our better players… He really is miles better than Eboue and he’s abig old boy too…
One thing stood out for me today and that is Frimpong, Jenkinson and Lansbury are true Gooners…. Lansbury didn’t wait too long to get stuck in….
And, TV is immense, how does a guy his height totally out jump that lump Carroll and 99 times out of 100 win the ball…..
What about his yellow Rico was the ref right
And remember people, in a couple of years, we will have no debt and £300M a season to spend on players.
Rico, it’s on, but i’ve got my earphones on listening to Fleetwood Mac… 😀
He’s only fucking 19 and we’ve got other young/ new players let’s give them our support whether it’s here/in the pub or at the home of football!! We are the Arsenal!!!
Steve, The yellow was really bad reffing. A ref from the old days would have had a word, calmed him down and understood it was his début and hone début but tghis ref wanted to be a bastard and he succeeded,
Freeman and Embellico (spelling) Kev ……
AK, i dont think we will have to many suprises next year we are useing everybody this year even the tea lady put her strip on today
Just watched el Classico and those teams are probably a billion quid offside actually loads more…..we are a self sustaining club a proper fucking football club, THE END!!!
I din’t see it Steve 😉
Seriously, I din’t and will look at that again before commenting but for me his second was a straight red… BUT that is just my own opinion…
Despite that, we cannot forget how good he was, didn’t jack do the same early in last season, he learned, so will Pingpong …..
Ha ha Steve. Nah mate, you wait, we’ve got a great generation of youngsters coming thru.
Why’s the nasri deal fallen through guys/ gal??
Guys, what is happening with Coquelin???
That’s it Rico.
We don’t know how good Campbell is going to be?
Arsenerico…. 😉 let all the wankers write us off, boring anti-arsenal James hunts, the lot of em!!!! 🙂
You know what i have said on many ocasions that we seem to be getting picked out, deep down i believe that ,but i have to keep reminding myself that officials are suposed to be neutral but its hard
I don’t think it has Lee, speculation is talks have collapsed and i would guess thats to do with playing time…
Something must have happened for him to play today, if he stays surely it has to be because he’s signed a new contract…
The travelling squad on tuesday will tell us a lot more if he’s still an arsenal player…..
You seen his picture kev, he looks so so young 🙂
Coquelin is playing, or just played, for France in 3rd/4th place playoff in the U20 world Cup [or Euro, not sure which].
Lorient want him back… But by the way were going, he’ll get a game at OT…
We will at least once this year get to field a full team, without anybody injured or anybody suspended but we may have to wait till a long time. I know fans want signings and i would like to see some too but what is emerging at the moment is looking pretty good
I am waiting for Gerv to get a great understanding with the team, his pace is scary and he is very direct.
Th eone thing that annoyed me about Theo today was, when at the half way line or just in and with just the fullback in front of him, he turns in and looks for the pass. Knock in 15 yards down the pitch and run you idiot.
Coquelin turned 20 last May, so who knows?
AW may have plans for him….
I’ve really not been 100% convinced with Walcott… Step up oxo, eh?
Rico, these guys are huge.
Aneke is still only 19 [i think] and he’s massive….
Coquelin coped really well in Ligue 1 last season…
Look at Frimpong, he’s like the Hulk….
Just goes to show what grilled chicken and veg can do for ya…?
Give me a jalfriezi… 😯
CB and a selfish goal scorer that’s what we need…… the framework is there…. The Micky Mouser’s have spent a fortune and they were average….
Thanks Kev, good to hear he’s playing, he’s another fiesty little DM 😉
Just had one 47!! 😉
Will. i still think Theo is out of position he’s passing is not the best nor his crossing tackling is non existant as well but he does have a finish and thats where he should be if he can’t make it work there move him on
If Walcott has too much time to think he normally makes the wrong decision when out wide…. Through the middle please!!!!!!
Lee, i didn’t need to ask did i………? 😆
Still waiting on mine….
Jacks the one i want back Steve and before OT, he and ramsey were awesome against last season ot The Ems….
Lee – Walcott was shocking today, the worst i have seen him play for a while, but Enrique snuffed him out and what disapointed me so much is how he just didn’t want to get the ball and burst into the penalty area… carragher would have hacked him down….
We beat the best team on the planet last season with a truly wonderful counter-attacking goal… Let’s build on things like that!!!!!!
What i couldn’t understand Gooners, [not uncommon for me] was, when we went down to 10 men, why didn’t Theo go up top and Robin drop into m/f…?
Rico, we could of upgraded clichy with Enrique…that’s shocking!
We have them in bundles coming through Kev,, they just need time and a couple of tough nuts to help them….
I think we all agree we need two defenders and a goal scorer don’t we??
We also need to off load Nik….
🙂 🙂 🙂 47,,
Thats a good thought Lee
Don’t ask Jeeves that one Kev, ask Wenger.com 😉
Lee, for £6 M wasn’t it, shocking indeed, lets go get Baines instead 🙂
Rico, did he look interested when he came on [Nik]..?
NB for baines/fellani/jagielka… QPR did ok against them though
I’m not in favour of another striker Rico i know you wont agree but untill i see the ox and campbel and theo given his chance i would rather spend on defence
I can’t bang on enough, but I really think with two/ three proper signings this team will lift some silverware this season!!!
Wonder if there’s any legs in the Zarate rumours?
It pains me to say it but this Barca team are good….. And we beat the fucking jamess!!!!
Lee, that’s why it’s vital to get past Udinese, a few deals may hinge on that result…
kev – no, not one bit and he did feck all when he was on….
All three Lee, Nik ain’t that good 😉 😉
The Germ has shown some nice moves but seems to be missing a finish, put targets in dangerous positions and we may see what he is good at robin i love but not one of the quickest and spends more time taking corners than i like to see
Then he’s a total tosser, Rico.
Proffessional footballer eh?
Big Danish posuer…..
You’re right AK, if we get through I really think the signings will come! Don’t wanna mention the M word but have the chavs got him? Sorry stan…..
Steve –
that’s ok and yes you are right, we do need to see how good the others are – but just imagine if we could go and put in a cheeky bid for Anelka and get him for one or two seasons to help the others 🙂
Mata could be a cover for East of Eden…..?
Or Kevin Doyle Rico… 😀
What have been saying all day boys 😉
Wednesday… Wednesday… Wednesday
😆 😆
I’m sorry rico he wanted out of Arsenal when he could have been mega not for me i’m afraid
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14603102.stm
Arsene speaks…
Thing is, their left back was not the fastest and anyone with an ounce of sense would of knocked it past him and raced him.
The histrionics in this game are a fucking joke!!
I found it strange that we have ryo and i take it oxo but we put on Bendy we know what we are going to get with bendy F all
Kev, now how did you know i’d like that idea… 😉
Night all.. COYG!!
Because your a Berkshire girl…….. 😆
Goodnight Lee….
He was just an example Steve – and at least he’s said he regretted leaving us 🙂
Will, I thought Enrique was bery very soild, but yes, walcott lacked a lot of common sense in his game today…..
Steve – i think we would have seen one or both had we not been down to ten… but totally agree – i’d rather have see fabianski at CF than Nik…. 😛
Night Night Lee, sleep well…..
But Doyle is irish Kev 😉 But yes, Doyle took Reading to the PL…
talking of which, does anyone recall me suggesting we should go for Shane Long????
3 goals in two games for WBA
Kev – i must congratulate you today, your post has had the most comments ever in the life of Highbury House 🙂
must of been the editing 😉 😉 😉
Right, the kettle is boiling…
I’m offski Gooners….
See ya bright & breezy tomorrow…
Really………
I think it was the headline writer…. 😉
When is the one year anniversary Rico..?
Arsene must be livid, our main man today sent off and offside goals yeh it fucking threw it down
Tea Up
Goodnight Rico..
Nite Steve
Nte Lee
Nte Mate
I’m off for a sulk as well, nte nte gooners
Tomorrow Kev 🙂
I’m offski too, you all sleep well,
Night steve & Kev…
A week after Manchester City expected to complete the signing of Samir Nasri, the Frenchman remains an Arsenal player with the prospect of him staying on rising by the day. Midway though this match, Canal+ reported that negotiations between his representatives and City’s had broken down. Afterwards, Arsène Wenger was asked if this was the case.
“I don’t know,” replied the Arsenal manager. Wenger added: “I have already said I try to keep Nasri and I have never changed my mind. He loves the club and he wants to stay here. If we decided to sell him, we would have to live with that.”
That may have been a coded message upstairs, for the decision to permit Nasri to negotiate with City is understood to have been taken by a board reluctant to turn down £23m for a player who is out of contract in June. That makes financial logic, but not, with the departure of Cesc Fabregas, football sense. Nasri may not be the roll-up-your-sleeves type of leader Arsenal need but, with his quick thinking and fast feet, he could fill the cavernous hole Fabregas has left in attacking central midfield.
One astute observer wrote yesterday that Fabregas has been the best midfielder in the Premier League’s 20 seasons, that he played chess against opponents who played draughts. Nasri is not in that class, but a player who was once heralded as the “new Zidane” in his native land must surely be tempted by the prospect of playing the No 10 role for Arsenal this season. With Manchester City’s attacking riches, that role may not be available at Eastlands. Nasri is understood to have told close friends that he does not want to move to City despite the offer of a salary of around a quarter of a million pounds a week.
Yesterday, Nasri was given reasons both to stay and leave. Arsenal’s support had criticised him at Newcastle last week but yesterday they got behind him. At the end, having booed the result, they and Nasri exchanged applause.
Any warm glow Nasri may experience from this is likely to be overwhelmed by the cold reality that, if he stays at Arsenal, it could be a year of marking time as his contract runs down. Talk of Arsenal being in crisis is hyperbolic. Around 85 other League clubs would readily swap positions. The club is on a sound financial footing with an astute manager and a flourishing youth system. However, it does appear to be in a state of flux with a squad that lacks depth and leadership.
By the end of the month, the height of ambition could be the Europa League.
When the teams were announced, Nasri’s name drew a mix of boos and cheers, but by the fourth minute he was warmly applauded as he went to take a corner. He was later clapped even when a long pass failed to reach Robin van Persie. Then, nine minutes before the break, his name was sung after he collected the ball in own half, drove past Lucas Leiva and Daniel Agger, then shot just wide. In the second period, as Liverpool’s control grew, he was less prominent and, like his team-mates, his head appeared to go down after Liverpool took the lead. Twice he let Raul Meireles run off him and the second time was crucial as the Portuguese squared for Luis Suarez to seal Liverpool’s win.
The question now is whether, if Nasri is still at Arsenal, Wenger will pick him at Udinese. With their Champions’ League prospects perilously placed, Arsenal need him, but it will render him ineligible for anyone else in Europe and slash his value. Wenger said: “I picked him today, which surprised everyone. I don’t know if I will pick him on Wednesday.”

_____________________________________________________
The brief glimpse we saw on his brilliancy yesterday, it changed my view on him and he should stay at least for this season, regardless of whether we lost that 22 to 25-mil transfer or not.
Ideally, if Nasri is decent, then he should follow Cashley (if what is claimed by Wenger he loves Arsenal and is committed to Arsenal), that is:
– SIgn a one-year extension with “double his salary” or match that of CITEH, i.e. 185,000pw (remember, we paid Ashely 70,000pw to match CHelski’s offer)
– Agreed on a “get-out” clause of 25-mil if he desires to leave Arsenal in 2012.
– That in July, he is free to leave for any club of his chocie provied they match hsi 25-mil “get-out” Clause.
I agreed with Wenger that Arsenal FC cannot afford to let 2 o. senior and vital players to leave at the same time.
And in Nasri, he has the chance to revert to what he plays best and what he desires, in the centre and behind Van Persie as that deep-lying attacking midfielder in 4-2-3-1.
We really need this season with Nasri as a transitory period for WIlshere and Ramsey to develop fully into regular 1st teamer by January 2012….as well as a “grooving-in” period for Ryo and AOC to step up their development into solid squad member by January 2012 as well.
WHo better to guide them on the pitch and on training ground then the last of the senior midfielders still wearing color of Arsenal?
I do understand the logic of Wenger why he is prepared to lose 25-mil for than vital one year to develop WIlshere, Ramsey, AOC and Ryo in readiness for 2012/13 season.
F**K Stan, Gazidis, PHW and those assholes who are only in it for the dosh…not fro football glories..only “profit/Loss’ statement.
Let ’em lose “25-mil” as it does not affect the fans one iota, but will lift morale insatntly knowing that Nasri is here for another season.
So what if he goes wanderlust on the ptich as our consolation is that Nasri will not strengthen CITEH nor ManU.
C’mon you Arsenal fans at Emirates and travellign fans, just show love to Nasri and telling him to stay !!
C’mon Le Professuer, fields Nasri on Wednesday and shows two-fingers to Stan, Gazidis and PHW what you think of ’em on their “profit/loss” policy.
Guess this team will stabilise Arsenal FC to no ends!
………………..Szczesny
..Sagna…Koscielny/new CB….Vermaelen….new LB
………….Song………….Wilshere
…………………Nasri
..Gervinho……….Van Persie……Hazard/Mata/Jadson
I appreciate your eagerness. However, you are flogging a dead horse with this side
AW must buy
In this climate of “doom & gloom”, I will recommend you all to read this book, “Great Brand Sotries Arsenal…’ first published in 2006 by http://www.cyanbooks.com before our move from Highbury to Ashburton Grove.
I will summarise some of the great quotations and contrast to what is happening to Arsenal FC today.
Herbert CHapman: “A club should be like a great family with all members of it sticking and pulling together in the same direction.”
Highbury Spy, Gooner fanzine, January 2005:
“I’m quite happy to wear a different shirt next season, so bring it on and let’s add another chapter to that old tradition we’ar so fond of and that draws us towards that magnificent club in the first place.”
In February 1926, less than a year after joining Arsenal, Chapman is quoted as having said the following to Tom Whittaker, who was to become a great Arsenal manager in his own right:
“I am going to make this the greatest club ground in the world, and I am going to make you the greatest trainer in the game. Wht do you say to that?”…..(p.70, The Official History)
Paul Davis describes:
“I played for the Arsenal youth, reserve and frist team. Right from day one, as a schoolboy, you’re told,’Arsenal is different.’ This club is geared to win things – finishing second is not on the agenda. Playing fro Arsenal is about fighting for each other, team spirit and an ‘all for one’ mentality.”
(p.254, Rebels for the Cause)
Don Howe”There was a way of being at Arsenal. The saying was ‘Remember who you are, remember what you are, and remember who you play for’. That’s what they used to say to us.”
Kolo Toure: “Life is all about togetherness.”
Peter Hill-Wood: “Our strategic objective is to deliver the sustained revenue growth and profitability which will allow Arsenal to build on its leading position in domestic and European football.”
Keith Edelman, Arsenal managing director, 2005:
“I think we should be one of the top three richest club in the world in the long run.”
Guardian, 4th May 2002:
“CHelski is a business which includes a football club. It is listed on the stock market as CHelsea Village plc and counts football as ‘one of its activites’ while Arsenal is a football club firrst and a business second.”
“You weren’t world-class when Arsenal signed you.” Arsene Wenger’s reported response to Patrick Vieira’s complaint that Arsenal had failed to sign world-class players.
Running a football club – Model One –
Secret Society : Arsenal
Arsenal has always run its business in a very private way. The Eton-educated Hill-Wood family have an influence at board level for the best part of a century. Arsenal shares are listed on the OFEX market for private companies, but most shares are in the hands of a few board members who control the club. Fans own small numbers of token shares.

What’s going on?
Depends on commitment and quality of a few people.
SIX LESSONS IF THE ARSENAL BRAND IS TO WIN
1 – Nothing matters more than success on the pitch – the core product drives the brand.
2 – Concentrate on building the relationship with fans and local community.
3 – Keeping Arsenal’s place as the leader in London football will do more for the brand internationally than any number of pre-season tours of “target markets”.
4 – A deeper commitment to customer service is crucial.
