We're signing a keeper, a striker, a defensive midfielder and just about every other player in World football.

Well it’s yet another dead boring day in the football world so won’t bore you with what you already know.

The rumours are back that we’re now back in for Cesar and he’ll sign for us after the confed cup has finished. This one has been going around since QPR were relegated so no great surprise is it. We have all sort of said we’d like an experienced keeper to come in so Chez can learn and have good back up or be back up himself..!?!?! That’s one for Arsene to sort out.

We’re still in for Higuain although we are not going to know until he actually signs as he’s on the slow boat from China or he could be staying if the stories from yesterday hold any truth. We’ve had a bid for Grenier from Lyon turned down as being direspectful which is pretty funny as Aulas the Lyon Chairman has a distaste for all things Arsene. We have players parading in Arsenal shirts on their facebook page and the media assume they are signing for us. It really is silly season at it’s height.

We have Mr Arshavin going back to Zenit complaining about boredom and depression, what a shame, i had a spout of depression when I realised what he was earning to sit on the bench and do nothing for us the last few seasons. If he was so bored why didn’t he leave to play the game he loves…? well obviously he was quite happy being bored earning his huge salary doing nothing. Players really are in la la land…………..

It seems Mannone could be of to Sunderland in the next few days and Djourou is off to Germany, if we manage to get rid of Bendtner and Chamakh we cannot complain about the players we have managed to move on and look at the wages we have saved to spend on quality signings…!

July 1st is when we can only hope things start to happen and of course pre season starts next Thursday so maybe we only have to suffer a few more days of stupid stories of buying Pele, Maradona and Pat Jennings………. Throw in Ruud Krol and i’d be quite happy with those four.

Have a great day everyone.

morning all.these rumours are boring me to death.

I don’t see us going for Rooney.I think it may be a smokescreen for someone else.I have a hunch we may be going for el shaarawy.

  2. W.A.T.H says:

The money they quoting for El Shaarawy is ridiculous though KT…! Is he that good…? Hardly proven is he..?

Mid to end of June is always the worst… No wonder Rico decided to go on Hols….!

  3. W.A.T.H says:

Deo, Rooney knows the league is up to speed and will have a big point to prove, imagine them both…!

  4. Canadian Gooner says:

    Good Morning fellow Gooners.

W.A.T.H – Another sterling effort on a no/slow newsday. If its any consolation the same thing is happening on other Arsenal websites. One web master was shocked at the vehement response to an innocent comment in his post the other day. So, he is running an insult the host contest, where posters are encouraged to post their worst insults of him and he will judge the winner.

Some supporters are getting a little testy with the lack of definite news on the club’s transfer persuits. It is going to be a long miserable summer for the impatient and ill tempered. Maybe we should round them up and abandon them down the lane (ShiteHart that is)?

  5. ktr7 says:

Milan are desperate for cash wath.Galliani said Pazzini/Balotelli are not for sale but said he will speak to rl shaarawy after the confeds.I reckon someone has put in a very tempting bid on the table and like Gotze I believe Wenger would be willing to shell out for him since he is a special talent.ever since balotelli went to milan he has suffered and is playing 2nd fiddle.I can see them letting him go if a good iffer comes in.

On Cesar am not his biggest fan to be honest.all we can hope for if he comes is that he has the same sort of impact that van der sar had when he moved to the mancs from fulham.

  6. Canadian Gooner says:

Scott – You and I are usually the most upbeat about our transfers, but I’m sure we’re all hoping for some good news on that front this week.

  7. ktr7 says:

Trust me wath he is very good.he had 16 goals by December.during that period Milan were in horrendous form but he carried them.he is one of yhe best young players around and under the right guidance he could be a beast.

  8. Scott from Oz says:

KT, Wenger has praised the kid in the past as well….may be on to something.
    CG…half full, bud 🙂

  9. ktr7 says:

I honestly don’t think we’ll go for rooney neither eould the mancs even contemplate selling to us.there is no chance in my opinion of him coming here.plus i have never liked him.

  10. ktr7 says:

hi scott.I remember last year when we bought cazorla it was out of the blue.I have this gut feeling that we are after el shaarawy.

  11. W.A.T.H says:

All good here Scott, Thanx CG, i think people forget that June really is a dead month it when contracts run down and very little happens in the way of signings it’s all the behind the scenes stuff going on now paving the way for whats to follow.

Insult the host competition thats funny we can wait for Rico to come back to run that one 😀

KT, yep he has great potential but I would not be paying 30million for great potential, I’d rather offer 30million for Lewandowski..!

  12. Scott from Oz says:

Wath, not for the sake of it, but i disagree……
On level terms, i would rather the Milan kid with the name too bloody hard to spell 🙂

  13. Canadian Gooner says:

I’d take either or both, but I prefer Lewandowski. However, I can’t see us getting him. He wants to go to Bayern Munchen and Dortmund don’t want to sell them another player and are digging their heals in. That one could drag on all summer and in the end Lewandowski may just decide to playout his contract and walk away for free next summer. Sound familiar?

  14. Canadian Gooner says:

Arsene spend 30 million on one player? I think not, at least not this transfer window. A fee that big would put him in cardiac arrest. Give him a season or two to adjust to the new reality.

  15. W.A.T.H says:

Thing is CG does Lewandowski wanna go to BM…? That’s just media specualtion. We sold Rvp for 24million with a yr left and Lewandowski is 4 yrs younger he is at least worth 25mil as it stands now..!

  16. Scott from Oz says:

El Shaarway has more upside, in my opinion.
I wold be happy with either though.
    Off to bed now…..late guys.
    Have a great day.

  17. Canadian Gooner says:

W.A.T.H – I’m not saying he isn’t worth that amount, just that I can’t see Arsene spending that amount on one player at this point. Maybe in a year or two he might.

I’d love to see the player at Arsenal, but I think if we were interested we would be outbid by a sugardaddy nouveau riche team like Chelski or PSG.

  18. vineet says:

I don’t understand why we talk about shaarawy that much. even in the absence of baloteli, prandeli didn’t use him in the confed cup against Brazil. their coach has no faith in him, then why can we?

  19. Canadian Gooner says:

Well I’ve a busy day ahead, so I’m off. Have a Good Afternoon/Evening all. Keep The Faith!

  20. JonJon says:

    bonjour mein amigos.. 🙂

WATH, ktr7, its been a while..

    wheres her royal ricolicious??

nice write up..i used to love transfer windows..
not anymore, prefer them not to open these days theres more chance of us selling than buying, no matter how much cash we brag about and the rumour mill just blags my head. you know 99.999999% of the time its codswallop.. apart from if its a injury prone french u21 for peanuts..then you know weve bagged him..
    yey for us..

  21. Joel says:

We don’t seem to be on top of things as far as transfer negotiations are concerned but since the departure of Mr Dein this has always been the case.Yes we can take certain rumours with a pinch of salt but it would seem that Higuain,Felliani,Williams and Cesar are all strong possibilities. That said there is always a big step for Arsenal from “fantasy football” to “reality football”.Williams I’m sure will be shunted aside as too expensive yet he’s certainly a better player now than Toure was when we sold him for plenty more than the £10m that Swansea want.Felliani was purchased by Everton for £15m and is paid upwards of 60k per week so it makes sense that his “cost” would also require some upwards adjustment.I can’t work out for the life of me-why Sunderland want to buy Mannone but this being the case why on earth didn’t we swap him plus money for Mignolet?-Cesar like Chesney is a good shotstopper but also prone to a mistake or two-but will in all likelihood only cost £2m.
Apparently we have a huge “warchest” but don’t-as usual-seem to want to use it-or have the know how to buy “marque” players any more!!!…Gervinho doesn’t fit into this category by the way…Arshavin remains our record purchase and that took place over a number of months!!

  22. S2S says:

    Scott & C.G.

You forgot how upbeat I am about transfers.

Btw.. on your topic I would say we have GH20 and if we get rid of Ger, I would say I would go for other Milanese whom people have forgotten and that would be Pato. His injuries and loss of form may have sent him back to Brazil but given AW’s love for injury prone bench warmers and his capacity to turn them into stars, I would take Pato in a second.

But I guess that would be in dreams.

  23. gooner son says:

Great blog, you tell it as it is… ( no bull) I like that.
As for the transfer rumours and the lack of official club statements,
These are very stressful times, considering yaya sanogo is the only target that was
Officially mentioned to the public before he signed. ( well thats if he has signed? If not we will end up losing out on him to)
By point being is that there has not being any official statement regarding higuain(none whatso ever)
This Meaning arsenal are not even after him?

  24. NashuaGunners says:

    Good Afternoon Wath and All
Keep up the good work Wath.

@Joel, you know we buy for cheap, remodel and sell for profit if the player turn out right. All what you said I tend to agree with you, but I don’t believe the ‘Warchest’ rumors that been going around for the past few years. I think Falliani asking price worth considering since he has been playing in the EPL and has improve during the years. What would we (Arsenal) sell him for to another club if he was our player and was bought for 15M? Maybe even more than what Everton asking price is.

  25. W.A.T.H says:

Sorry chaps had to shoot off out for a bit, sorry for those in moderation, gooner son, you’ll find we always tell it like it is on here or we at least try to..! Lets be honest though Arsenal hardly ever announce things until they are done so the fact all is quiet doesn’t really bother me just yet as plenty time to go, if it was Aug 29th and still quiet I think I would not be a happy chappy but for now I still think this is the year we’ll do good things in the transfer market.
JJ hows you fella, hope all well matey, Rico on her hols mate back later on today.

  26. NashuaGunners says:

Tsgh, how are things? hope all is well.
I might have asked you before but not too sure, ‘what’s your take on South American Strikers’ since you rate Benteke ???

  27. tsgh says:

Hi Ng, I am good; thanks for asking buddy… hope you are well too?

My take on South American strikers? Well I liked Crespo, Batistuta,Burruchaga, Romario, Fat Ronaldo,Bebeto, Forlan, Saviola etc . including the likes of Inzaghi, Raul, Schillacci, Rush, Muller to name a few.

Personally, I think when football use to have no.10’s the South Americans produced and defined the best of them. Not mentioning the obvious ones but players like Carlos Valderrama, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Ariel Ortega were beyond football greats imho

Currently we have the likes of Suarez, Falcao, Facundo Ferreyra, Fred but in all cases I think they have 2 or 3 good seasons in Europe and then drift off… just an opinion when you consider the history of Crespo etc.

In short I am still not sold of Latin American strikers. If you consider that Damiao is considerd one of the best but Fred plays ahead of him for Brazil and fred is slower than OG12… it says it all…

  28. emekabobrox says:

Goodday fellow gunners, am not comfortable with our so called scouts, does it mean they do not understand their jobs or what? Every player becomes arsenals target, at the end notting comes out of it. Preseason starts nxt week and we have not done any signing. Maybe I will be the the striker that will deliver the goals.

  29. agirlagunner says:

WATH, you have become so positive the last few days!! 😛 You grow more upbeat by the minute.

Hello, all!! I only wish that this Higuain deal doesn’t come to naught. It would be so disheartening of this deal were hijacked; and a top signing is exactly what we Gooners need!

  30. Paddywhack says:

why can AW not get business done early. No use anyone saying that window does not open until 1st Jul. Man City and Chelsea have already done business. It seems that AW is just waiting to be gazumped, then it’s a case of “well we tried but just couldn’t do it”. I don’t see us signing anyone now that the ST are all bought. Come on AW, get the cheque book out. Anyhow, when SAF wanted players, he just identified the players and told the Board “Buy these players”

  31. tsgh says:

…..On Benteke, if you watch him and compare him to Lewandowski.. they both have those explosive traits tailored-made for the EPL. (And I was talking about the Bundesliga before most people especially the Sky pundits jumped on the German league bandwagon. I even predicted a German team would win the CL in October after Schalke beat us)

So if TW14, OG12 and Poldi can out score the likes of Tevez and Pun that should say something…

As someone who has seen Higuain play… and was in Westfalenstadion when BVB faced Unreal… I will say Higuain will take time to adjust to this league. Even at Real he plays on the RHS so when some fans expect him to come in and play in place of OG12 in this league… I wonder unless of course AW is going to play 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 next season? Either way he has not bought a proper DM to make me think so.Note, Fellaini does not play DM for both club and country!

  32. tsgh says:

Hi Agag, the sale is on here… my credit card took some beating this afternoon 😉

    How are you?

  33. W.A.T.H says:

Emeka, paddywhack welcome, nope no slagging people off on here if you do then you get binned simple as that…! Everyone has opinions we disagree plenty but we chat and discuss which is how it should be.

I can’t say that word either paddywhack, for me they just called vermin…! swampies…! that’s the polite ones..!

  34. agirlagunner says:

Ginge, you do realize I’m on a shopping lockdown, and mention of other people swiping away may send me off the rails, right?? 😛

    Welcome to the new posters!!

  35. bob john says:

Everyting is total speculation. the only thing I have seen from anyone was an interiview with Lewandowski when he said Arsenal and Wenger was his dream. 442 mag a while back

  36. Paddywhack says:

Does anyone think that TA should be given a role at Arsenal and Martin Keown. Both of these guys bled Arsenal. I agree that TA would not make a good Chairman as some suggested but surely a guy with his influence would lift the dressing room. I read TA autobiography recently and his love for the Club is plain to see. Although his drinking was a problem, he stuck at his rehabilitation and I don’t believe the Club suffered. I was also surprised to read that the only Manager to write to him when he was in Chelmsford Prison was SAF. He said he appreciated that. Now there’s a surprise (SAF supporting the Arsenal Captain).

Go on Board, give big Tone a job, you will not regret it.

  37. tsgh says:

Agag, that is what I am trying to do… I take delight in watching others fall off the wagon 😉

It is hard I kinow… I was just going for some food shopping and the 50% off sign just over powered me… I blame the summer for that.

  38. agirlagunner says:

Pure evil, Ginge. Haha. Tut tut.

Hello, Paddy. I think TA statements about the club have turned the latter off him. Who can blame management? 😕

  39. Paddywhack says:

Other blogs are desperate to get rid of AW. I believe they are wrong. What other manager would have kept us in CL place without much money to spend. He has done a good job. I still think he is as tight as a Ballymena man (Irish joke)! Hope there are no Ballymena men (or women) on this blog or I might be getting a visit!

  40. tsgh says:

Hey Lady Rico… are you not a day early?

Hope you are well and had a good break?

    Open the cheque book please…

  41. agirlagunner says:

The thing about holidays is that they never last long enough. 😉 😛 Glad you have had the time for some R&R. 🙂 🙂 You all tanned now?

    Hello, JM. 🙂

  42. tsgh says:

No Agag… not splurging at Waitrose…

I went to a food fair… South Asia, South American, Caribbean and Afro food stalls in the street

  43. rico says:

    Hi Ts, JM

Thanks Ts, I did. Not long home, just popped in to say hello and then off to load the washing machine 😉

Agag, wind blasted more like 😉

  44. tsgh says:

Yes it was … sampling free food from across the globe filled me up without spending a penny… lol apart from booking clothes I won’t wear of course 😉

  45. tsgh says:

Flamini has been released by AC Milan again… the grass is not always greener on the other side I guess. Still he got 10k more a week than he would have gotten at Arsenal… he will say to himself 😉

  46. agirlagunner says:

I love Sunday markets with World Food themes, Ginge. 🙂 And I always go to groceries when traveling. For stuff to bring home.

    rico, laundry 🙁 Ha ha.

  47. agirlagunner says:

Ginge, the way things are going in Barca, I think Cesc is feeling that way about his career, too. He’s not an important player in that team, and the fans have simply not warmed to him.

  48. rico says:

I like that kind of food fair Ts, eat out for nowt..

It’s warm here now agag, so a least it should all dry, it’s the ironing I don’t enjoy 🙁

  49. agirlagunner says:

Doesn’t matter what he says. You look at his body language, and it doesn’t say “happy” to me. He cuts such a frustrated figure, I almost pity him. But the vindictive part of me, is more than a little happy about it. 😉

  50. agirlagunner says:

Doing the laundry just makes me sad. Ha. But I absolutely looooaaathe ironing. 😉

I see JJ dropped by today. 🙂

  51. The D Man says:

Hi guys! We really need a top finisher like gonzalo, but equally a proper monster holding midfielder, defo felliani , I’d get shot of sagna, broke his leg twice and over 30yrs, he’s done now, if afc are balking over paying felliani 100grand a wk, how dare they, when they are paying that lazy bastard podolski that much’ you will know when our squad is strong enough, when our bench consists of , Ramsey , arteta, pods, mertasacker , he’s still to slow for my liking! If afc fail to bring in quality this summer, they will be taking all us fans as mugs!

  52. Lee says:

Welcome home Rico…..we’ve got absolutely mental in the transfer market….. Or b)
Hope you had a good break and chilled (no pun intended!)

  53. rico says:

Hello Lee, thank you, I did, very chilled… 😉

Some things, especially when it comes to Arsenal, seldom change eh…. 🙁

    It’s always B)

  54. ktr7 says:

welcome back rico 🙂 Aw has been waiting for your return to approve those new signings 😉 hope you had a good time.

its also good to see jj popped by earlier.hope to hear from him again.

  55. rico says:

Welcome the D man… Is Podolski really lazy or has he just struggled in his first season in the PL… Many do.

If it’s the same next season then you have a good point…

Sorry about being stuck in moderation, hope you are still reading and come back…

  56. ktr7 says:

Im quite to see how poldi performs next season.despite the stats i found his season to be a bit underwhelming.it may be due to having to adjust but i expect much better from him.next year is a WC year and he’ll want to be on that plane to brazil but he must start to perform.Reus has taken his starting spot and if he isn’t careful the likes of Draxler/Schurrle will kick him out of the squad completely.

I expected him to be our spontaneous power player from out wide.he has to step up next season.

  57. tsgh says:

I think Poldi did very well considering he was carrying an ankle injury…
He was better than Kagawa. But it is well nown that Poldi is a bit too ‘laid back’ which has not made him achieve his full potential..

    Hi Ktr7

  58. rico says:

My judgement is reserved on Podolski, but imho he’s not been as bad as some think…

Ts, I hope one of those two clubs are us, but then you knew I would say that 😉

  59. Micko says:

Aye, aye, who’s the new girl then, howdy rico, tsgh, kt.

Next time your over agag have kev drop you off at Wembley Market, it’s a real eye opener, just make sure he waits for you !

Ok off out to play, laters.

  60. ktr7 says:

Ts you picked out a very good point re:higuain.

I’ve said here from when we were linked to him that am curious on how we’ll use him if he does come.Madrid play a 4-2-3-1 like us but the roles of their front 4 is quite different.

For Madrid Ronaldo starts wide left but most of the time he ends up quite central which pushes higuain to the right.Ozil also plays quite high up the pitch which ensures hig has at least 2 players in close proximity to him.real keep the ball moving and doesn’t have to hold up the ball.

At Arsenal Giroud most of the time.only has theo in support which means he has to hold up the ball a lot more which higuain can’t.also cazorla who plays to the left tucks in to midfield and rosicky doesn’t play as high up the pitch as ozil.

To accomodate higuain we must ensure he has adequate support up front since he doesn’t really hold up the ball. This is how the invincibles played by keeping the ball moving not holding it up.If we sign an AM i expect him to be in the kaka mould not santi mode to play more or less as a 2nd striker.

  61. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
Welcome back Rico….hope you enjoyed your holiday 🙂
Hats off to Wath…he deputised splendidly.

  62. Sukky says:

I think poldi had a decent season. His work rate in the first half of the season is amazingly great.Maybe he was tired with injuries and EPL things, you know?I believe OG12 will be much more better next season. His Goals in the FA cup against brington are amazing, his assists are just too good.I think the guy is underated. We don’t need rooney,i think huguian, fellani and cesar will be ok.I hope wenger think about ben afra and verminator as DM.

  63. rico says:

Thanks Scott, I did, and spot on re Wath 🙂

You dirty stop-out Ak, hope you have a fab weekend by the seaside …

  64. frednerk says:

    Morning Rico & all,
Not to sure Podolski enjoyed chasing back,
maybe wrong here but did he only play,
1 or 2 full 90 min games last season,
surely the ankle injury never happened
at the beginning of the season..did it.

Bumped into a couple of old manc mate the other day,
    rumour zzzzzzzzz,
up their…….Coleen Rooney fancies a bit of london?

  65. Sceptic says:

My guess is you won’t sign anyone (decent, ie world class) – and I’d bet a good 80% of you think exactly the same. It looks like the names being floated about, the arsenal board know they can’t really sign, but it keeps the fans happy just hearing it.
