Great news came out the Arsenal Camp yesterday that Kieran Gibbs has suffered severe bruising to his left foot and should only be missing for a couple of weeks – I am sure I was no different to any other fan in dreading that he had suffered a long-term injury – he was ‘massive’ against the Spuds and we need him, especially if we are going to shove all the comments back down the throat of the media who doubt we have what it takes to win anything this season.
I actually think we can. Play with the heart, desire and passion we showed on Wednesday and anything can happen and don’t forget, we didn’t have our strongest eleven out either, but what we did have, was big-hearted players who knew just what that game meant to every Arsenal Fan!!
2014 will be upon us all before we know it and it seems that Arsene Wenger believe that will be the year he walks away from club management – well, if he’s not up to it anymore! Apparently he’s told some old French rag that he’s staying until the ed of this current contact but will see how he’s feeling. But he does stress that should he stay another few years beyond then, it will be because its best for the club and him and not because another club has failed to tempt him away. he loves being where he is and loves the freedom he is given by the board to get on with his job!
In other words Arsene, when your contract is up, if your fit and healthy, you will be staying!! Good, as long as Wednesday’s attitude remains. By that I mean taking your punishment graciously and sending out the right team to beat the opposition in the evening!!
Talking about the ‘other night’ – some more great news came out yesterday. Naughty little Carlos Vela has been banned from playing for Mexico after a wild night out on the town with his team-mates, well I couldn’t give two hoots about his party or his ban. Its great news for our club as he won’t be trekking off all over the world to play stupid friendlies and pick up silly injuries. My only gripe is he didn’t invite a few more Arsenal players to his party, then they would be staying in London too for the next six months!! ๐
Bit of the usual gossip about who we are ‘looking at’ – new reports in the paps yesterday about Wenger being keen on Thomas Vermaelen’s previous team-mate and current national team-mate, Jan Vertonghen. Ajax are broke and its widely expected that a few players may need to be sold as early as January to try and make ends meet. He’s 23 years old and can play in defence or midfield. The Stains and Juve are also reported to be keen on signing him but if I were him, I know where I’d rather go…
That of course is to a team that’s well and truly on the up…..
What a strange night in the Carling Cup, Newcastle knocked out Chelsea, Northampton saw off Liverpool and West Brom sent Man City packing. See Arsene, the door is wide open now for this competition and who knows, it may just be our turn!
That’s it folks, have a great day….
Morning all, early one this morning….
Fergie has supposed to have flow to Spain in order to try and sort a deal with Atletico Madrid for
David De Gea….
He doesn’t hang around does he…
Now can someone please see off manure and let us win the carling cup for the kids?
hi brian, knowing our luck we’ll get them in the next round, i hope they get newcastle…
Morning Rico.
It certainly looks as though our decision to play a semi-serious team in the Cup has paid off.
Could be an easy path to Wembley this year – there really is no excuse for not being able to compete on all fronts when you are one of the richest clubs in the world.
Morning Moray
What narks still though is wondering what might have been if wenger had taken the cc a bit more seriously in the past?
Its certainly wide open now, and the mancs didn’t have it all their own way last night either…
Well, it did give us a chance to blood our youngsters, however, I agree, the policy should have been a flexible one. It often corresponded with us collapsing on other fronts
arsene beware barca have found out that jack wilshire went to spain on holiday when he was a kid so he must have barca dna
…if he cut himself in the swimming pool then he does for sure…
Moray, we all love seeing the kids strutt their stuff and against the so called lesser sides then its worth a gamble – but like when we got to the final, maybe that would have been the time to say, i need to put a stronger team out?
Judge each game and play who he thinks is the right team to win, we all want this trophy, the winning something metality is whats missing in our side, get that and who knows….
tboyle, none of that, please ๐ Give those stains an inch….
Popping off for a couple of hours, catch up in a bit….
Playing kids then swapping them shows a lack of faith to their abilities in playing.
Anyone around???
hi rico. i know red nose was in spain last night, but i had heard that he was at the mestalla to watch valencia – united’s cl opponents next week.
Some light entertainment

good afternoon all, nice rainy day, aint it? lol
hi oliver, T-buzz, having a busy day today so on and off a bit ๐ ๐
I listened to that one earlier T-buzz, isn’t he a numpty ๐
oliver, thats was his no2 said, but i wouldn’t be surprised if he’s looking at the keeper, kusack (spelling) wants out ๐
popping off again while the rain has stopped….. back shortly
hi all we had entertaining night yesterday ๐
rico, i had not heard that kuszczak wants to leave – sounds a bit like szczesny perhaps? i wonder if red nose really thought, when he bought van der sar from fulham some four/five seasons ago, that vds would be his number one for as long has he has been? if i remember, ben foster was the anointed future number one and kuszczak was pehaps more of a raimond van der gouw type?
perhaps our goalkeeping situation is not that bad after all…
two thoughts on our position: if arsene persists in giving fabianski opportunities, i fully expect this to develop into a morale problem. whether the quotes we saw the other day were completely accurate or not, it is very easy to believe that szczesny is frustrated over the situation. i imagine that arsene is trying to rebuild his fabianski’s confidence and refuses to give up on him, but he is now running the risk of turning fabianski into a pariah of sorts. i think this will end ugly – and i just hope that it does not have a bad effect on the entire first team.
and arsene continues to put fabinaski’s interests ahead of the team as a whole. as i am very fond of saying, arsene is staring at the trees (fabianski) and ignoring the forest (the whole goalkeeping situation)…while he sticks with fab, our best prospect rots in the reserves, a step backwards after an impressive loan spell at brentford last year. and does mannone even exist anymore?
Arsรจne Wenger has backed Wojciech Szczฤsnyโs push for a first-team place, and sympathises with his frustrations over a lack of involvement this term.
Szczฤsny ranted in the Polish media earlier this week at his treatment since returning from a loan spell with League One Brentford, accusing the Frenchman of breaking promises and ignoring him. However, Arsรจne was quizzed about the 20-year-oldโs comments this afternoon in his pre West Brom press conference, and issued support for his frustrated prospect.
โHe is right (to be frustrated). He must trust us, no club has brought through more young players than us.โ
Wojciech has previously endured a fractured relationship with Wenger, dating back to the FA Cup Semi-Final against Chelsea in April 2009. The Pole pressed the boss to be included on the bench, but he opted for fellow rookie Vito Mannone, leading to a nasty revolt.
Szczฤsny has revealed his contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season, and although there has been three meetings over an extension, the club appear to be in no rush to get a new deal signed.
The Spain midfielder gave Arsenal the lead before limping out of last week’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland in the Premier League due to a hamstring strain.
Fabregas believes he can face the English champions, despite being told he faced three weeks on the sidelines.
“The injury is not as bad as we first thought,” said Fabregas in an interview with Spanish radio.
“There is no muscle rupture and I will be back perfect in about 10 to 11 days.
“I am working with an osteopath in Paris and just working day to day.
“I think I will make the Chelsea game.”
thanks k – now lets see arsene follow words with action. trust is a two-way street, so if he wants szczesny to trust the club, he should trust szczesny with the number two jersey. we have all seen enough of fabianski and i am really concerned his mere presence in the first team is going to develop into a distraction and drag this club down – i have seen a very similar scenario (oliver perez) unfold with my baseball team this season.
Szczesny needs to stop talking to the press we all understand how frustrating must of been when some1 like Fabianski is chosen ahead of him over and over again.
And what about the mysterious injury of TV???
stef, i sometimes wish our players would not be so open with the media – but i suggest that they take their cue from our manager, who can be gregarious with the media at the best of times. even if our players are guarded with the media, there is always the opportunity to embellish direct quotes (especially those made in a language other than english), and add content to suit a specific angle the media tries to pursue.
i am sure that szczesny is frustrated – who wouldn’t be? i am not so sure that the quotes attributed to him are completely accurate. perhaps something was added to portray him as angry, starting an artificial crisis at arsenal.
that said and previously stated, i am very concerned this will quickly become a real problem as long as fabianski occupies a first-team spot. he let in another very soft goal at the spuddies, and he cannot be trusted. i think he has to leave the club.
verm has an achilles problem, purportedly. i do not think there is anything sinister there, it is probably just taking longer to heal than anticipated. if anyone is suggesting he is a problem or there is a problem with verm, i don’t buy it…

I hope y’all can view this pic
Boo, who’s in the house ๐
Hi oliver,
I heard yesterday about Kusack, he said he may have to follow Ben Foster and leave the mancs as he’s wants to be playing regular football…
You old tinkers, I was doing a post on Chesney for tommorow, but it seems you have all discussed him already, best i go and delete it ๐
Do a post about hmmmmmmm drinking lol ๐ Cheers…. Make mine a double.
Allo all….
Hi WATH, I was just about to give up and go as it’s so quiet, how’s tricks?
Make mine a triple please ๐
Typical woman always wants the biggest they can get lol ๐
Oops suppose Pea will pop on soon and want a bucket full…!
๐ WATH, haven’t see him/her for a while, in fact haven’t seen a few for a while ๐
Afternoon all…
Hi KTR7, all good i hope, another pretty quiet footie day today…
Hi Rico, Guys,
Another good Post Ricodeeko!
Trying to catch up with some of the news on my return, the thing that stands out to me is the Chesney complaint.
First, he is a plonker for gabbing off to the press, and should have his knuckles rapped for it.
That said, I think he has a case. Wenger has said on more than one occasion that he thinks Chesney will be Arsenal’s No.1 and won’t go out on loan because he has an important part to play for us this season. Then nothing; nada, tumbleweed blowing thru the stadium!
He is too old for the youth team, the reserves are catered for by Shea and Mannone and we know he hasn’t had a sniff of even the bench for the first team.
I suspect he hasn’t played a single game for any of our teams this season and if I were him I would want out too!
WATH it is important for me to clarify that sniffing the first teamers’ bench is not a sexual offence. ๐
Hey ra, no caps i see :)thanks re the post …
I keeping my thoughts until tomorrow ๐ ๐
Rico,
What are these “no caps i see”?
Is this spy code meaning bring the rubber duck and the bath oils tonight? ๐
Nah, i thought you used to have you name as RedArse…
Rico,
How observant of you. I had not noticed.
Perhaps that is why I was put into moderation yesterday.
A question of rubber fingers then, and not the rubber duck
Rico,
Hopefully, my name tag has been restored to it’s true crappishness with this comment! ๐
๐ ra, not much gets passed me ๐
RA, normality has been resumed ๐
RA thats much better…
RA, i have emailed you… ๐
Boo! The exit of the Chavs, Citeh, and the Dippers have certainly opened doors for us. I don’t care if it’s a toddler’s cup… ๐
If we don’t reach the finals of the toddler’s cup agag Aw will have blown it.imagine our kids winning it…it would be a massive morale boost for the squad and maybe open the flood gates.
Boo to you agag, I don’t care if its the Egg Cup, still want to ‘beat’ someone in the final ๐
Exactly, KT. I think if the kids win one; they’ll get such a feel for it; and will promptly want to be winning everything after. ๐
Tip top KTR7, this has to be our turn, let the Mancs draw Newcastle then surely we can’t miss this opportunity…
I read today that belief is that if we get to the semis Wenger will play just kids, not sure I think that will be the case this season…
And Theo to lead the charge, rico?? I’d like that very much too. ๐
For sure agag, he’s the one ๐ Now where’s JJ ๐
Rico,
“Egg” and “beat” in the same sentence; now that’s why I have missed you! Are you sure I cannot interest you in a rubber duck? ๐
Hi KT, you spotted my mistaken tag too, I take it? That’s the problem with women; they spot your name change as easily as lipstick on your collar! ๐ Your collar, not mine , of course! ๐
๐ RA, did you see my earlier, about emails….?
—re Vermaelen injury—
“He is experienced and it is good he can compensate the absence of Vermaelen tomorrow.
“Vermaelen’s [injury] should be short-term and has a chance to play on Wednesday night.”
Friday, September 10, 2010
“Thomas Vermaelen is out as well with an Achilles problem coming back from Belgium, so we do not have him either.
Tuesday, September 14, 2010
Thomas Vermaelen is also pencilled in to return against the Baggies however his recovery is less advanced. The Belgian has been out with an Achilles injury since the international break.
Thursday, September 16, 2010
โThomas Vermaelen will be out for the next two games. Cesc Fabregas is out 100 per cent for the next two games. We have a small hope he could be back against Chelsea.
Thursday, September 23, 2010
something is fishy to say at least
Sorry Rico, I have been having a little problem with either my brain or my browser’s caching and have not yet been able to get into my emails.
Will try again. Is it about rubber ducks? ๐
We have appointed a swedish fitness coach as part of our backroom staff.hope it helps since it is said he was being chased by a whole host of clubs.he also said it would be an honour to work with fabregas.
Hi RA you seemed to be back to your old self ๐
Hi Stef
I just think its typical of Arsenal underestimating injuries that our players pick up. Also, Squilli and Kos have been bloody good.. However, Squilli is being rested on Saturday as he has a slight muscle prolem –
WTH does that really mean
10-4 RA ๐
KTR7, is that new coach a ‘she’ by any chance ๐
If you think fabianski is poor watch Turmbull for the chavs.speaking of the chavs benayoun, kakuta and kalou got injured and it seems they’ll miss a couple of games.lampard is also said to have broken down in training.
i wish no player injury KTR7, but how i chuckled when i heard of their injuries this morning…
Turnbull isn’t there normal second keeper though is he??
Rico he is a Marcus Svensonn.
KT,
When you say the Swedish massager was being chased by a whole host, is that because he owed them money, or has he been kissing their WAGS? ๐
Hi Stef, good to hear from you. I am not sure I agree with you about TV’s injury. It is notoriously difficult to be specific about the healing time for various injuries. There have been many cases, like say Tomas Rosicky, where the initial forecast has been positive only for the player to break down time after time.
For myself, I threw my face at a cricket ball many years ago, and broke my jaw. The doctors rightly told me the jaw would quickly mend, but they also said I would look extremely handsome again within 6 months.
Years later I am still ugly, but I live in hope that one day I will be pretty again! ๐
To clarify; the above is known as ironic humour, and not occasioned by alcohol!
why didn’t he play KTR7. injured??
RA, you ugly old git ๐ ๐
We have clearly improved;last season an injury to vermy led to sylvestre’s inclusion.now we have kozzer, squillaci, vermy and djourou…not bad.
saturday though we have no TV or Squilli, and will JD cope with two games??
Any who doubted ur two CH signings must surel be convinced by now….
RA same old, same old.its good to have you back.rico lampard is struggling to make the mancity game.he has been injured since the stoke game before the international break.
good KT, i actually want city to win this one ;)hopefully that little slip up last night will unsettle them a bit, malouda could do with picking up a little niggle in his muscle ๐
It was also interesting to see that Milan are struggling right now despite having ibra, robinho, dinho and pato upfront.last night they were held by lazio playing a 4-3-3 but the problem was dinho and ibra had poor work rates overworking their midfield.their fans are praying flamini regains his Arsenal form to cover for their lazy forwards.their system is broken to put it simply.thats why am glad that players like jack, chamakh, tomas, nasri…despite their attacking talent work hard in defense to make our system work.we have a special system that requires graft too not only talent.
City fans are incensed by their exit from the CC rico.they let slip their best chance for a trophy in 4 decades.their fans will demand for a special perfomance on Saturday to prove their top 4 credentials.they are hard to beat at home and we all know mancini in the spirit of Catennacio will play 3 dms looking to catch the chavs on the break.
Everytime you srite something about Inter KT which brings doom and gloom for tham, I am glad… Rafa is a joke, Inter had a good manager in Jose but they didn’t like him – they reep what they sow…
So all this money spent by City KT and their fans truly believe the CC is the only cup they will win… just what does tell…
Wonder who will be the next City boss… and by Christmas…
Rico am talking about Ac Milan not inter.Inter are flying at the moment especially eto’o.
I should actually have realised KT, the players you mention gave it away ๐ ๐
I just get on my high horse when Mila are mentioned as i can’t stand Rafa…
KT, at least it shows i read all the comments ๐
Barca struggled to breakdown sporting Gijon last night only winning 1 nil.messi’s absence was as clear as day to see.
Rico,
Have managed to get my emails back. Firefox seems to play up if there is a cache “problem”. No, I don’t know what I am talking about! ๐
Anyway, a massive missive is winging its way to you.
KT,
How do you manage to see all these Euro games?
I see some French/German/Italian etc games on ESPN, of course, but you seem to have far greater access.
Everyone seems to have buggered off, so g’night Rico, KT and all.
Hopefully tomorrow. ๐
I’m still around, just cooking ๐
Rico what are you cooking???
just omlette and chippers KT ๐
i did have to prepare the veg to go in the omlette though ๐ ๐
Rico to be honest im clueless in the kitchen although i hear the ladies like a man who knows his way around the forks and knives…
KTR7, you are spot on there, its lovely when the cooking is equal and not all left down to the women – those days are long gone, thankfully ๐
how come you don’t like the kitchen, you love creative football?
hi Rico and KTR7 I’ve eaten and omelette ๐
the only think I can cook ๐
although I like my peas with goulash but I need practice ๐
All quiet, so I’m going to head off out…
be good ll, take care and stay safe….
Nighty Night ๐
g nite rico
need to brag next time when some1 is here ๐
nite stef ๐
i’m gone now ….
morning all
new post up
