Wenger/Kroenke need to meet the fans half way……

Morning all,

I think we have three types of fans right now.

1) The ones who want us to go and spend £200 million this summer on all the top players, pay them whatever they demand, and then, in their view will will win everything. We’d go one better than Fergie, we’d get four trophies and they’d be happy, very happy. The younger players coming through would be totally disregarded, they’d have to leave because there’s no way they could push their way above those world class players we’d have all over the pitch.

Who cares, we’d be successful. But we’d be broke and glory would be short lived I’m sure, especially if FFP does actually work……

2) Another set of fans, we all know the ones, they have a three lettered nickname on some blogs, but not HH. They are the one’s who think that signing a 25 year old striker from Basingstoke FC who scores one goal every three games is the perfect signing. Added to that, the 6′ 7″ central defender from Colchester FC is snapped up too because we needed a bit more height at the back to help us deal with set pieces.

Those two signings are enough to keep them happy, as do the two 17 year olds Wenger believes to have great potential….

Then there is the final set of fans, the realistic fans.

3) The ones who just ask for us to sign good players. They don’t want the club we love to go broke, the don’t ask for Kroenke/Wenger to sign, Cavani, Falcao, Ronaldo, Neuer, Lahm, Bender, Messi etc etc etc. (Although if we had the money…..)

No, all we’d like to see is good, hard working quality players signed, and they don’t always cost what we can’t afford do they?

Most sensible, realist and caring fans want to see our club remain debt free, they don’t want us to see us crippled by stupidity.

They want to see us being a competitive side again and not one which gets hoofed out of the domestic cups by clubs who are hundreds of places below us in the league tables.

That is not where we should be is it?

Someone (SP) left a comment yesterday which was so true.

Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea have all spent millions, many millions, yet not one of those clubs have taken over the world of football have they? No, and we stayed in the Champions League longer than all of those sides…

If Kroenke meets the madness of football half way, and Wenger finally stops believing that Arsenal’s money is his own, not only could we catch those teams mentioned above, we can overtake them and we could be the team to break away from the others.

I believe that a large selection, maybe even the majority of fans feel we need to sign 4/5 players, a new core so to speak but I am sure if we don’t get all we wish for, but who we do get are top class, fans will be understanding, they’ll see the club are at least trying. For once.

Wenger started last year by signing Podolski and Cazorla, two well known highly rated players and I suspect he, like most fans believe that the German would hit the ground running and fill the void left by a certain Dutchman but he hasn’t. Maybe next season we will see the best of Podolski. Giroud was known too, maybe not everyone’s cup of tea but he may improve leaps and bounds next season.

This summer it’s time to finish what he started and make sure he spends every penny Kroenke gives him. Then go back for more…

Not on hopefuls, not on cheaper options when the real deal is just a few million more, our club deserves better than that.

It’s a huge period in the future of Arsenal FC and a top four finish, followed by a lot more ambition in the summer, it may just be the start of something very good….

Otherwise,  goodness knows where we’ll end up……

That’s it for another day folks, have a good one…

    Morning

    Out
    Mannone
    Squillaci
    Diaby
    Coquelin
    Gervais
    Arshavin
Fabianski – playing ok at the moment?
    Bendtner
    Djourou
    Denilson
    Chamakh
    Santos
    Frimpong
    Park
    Wellington
    No loans; just get shut

Jury’s out, but personally I’d add them to the get shut list
    Myachi – injured a lot
Campbell – if he’s any good – he’ll whore himself and chase the money

    Promote Gnabry, Eisfield

    Being realistic – In
    Jagielka
    Jovetic
    Paulinho
    Capoue/Toulalan
    Goetze
    and a proper goalkeeper

All that for a club of our stature is very do-able

  2. George says:

    Good morning all..

I don’t know what category fan I’d fall into but I want 3 things next season.

    1. We only sign good players or sign no one at all. Cazorla is the level I want to see.

2.If a player is injury prone and used up his chances , he is offloaded and not a burden on our wage structure. This applies to deadbeat youth players who just are not good enough.

3.We reward players who play well and promote healthy competition and punish slackers with the bench, fines, curfews, loans and even transfer listing-Arsenal is a good club but we are not Butlins holiday camp and my hard earned money did not grow on trees to see Denilson jogging back or Santos not putting a challenge.

  3. Joywedsjeff says:

Good morning all… George i agree with your number one. Mattyboy, those fans belong in category one.

  4. southyorkshiregunner says:

Morning George – Yennaris is well thought of by a lot of the HH group. If Sagna goes – which I hope he doesn’t – Yennaris seems very likely to get the nod for the back up right-back position..

Was it Ginge on Saturday who said he “could do” with being a bit taller …

I think Miguel may make the step up … He’s certainly no worse than Djourou or Squillaci …

  5. Scott from Oz says:

Did anyone see Boatengs goal for Bayern v Juventus??
No more evidence required to prove the modern day ball is just crap.

  6. southyorkshiregunner says:

Morning Scott. I hope Fabianski proves most people wrong ….. three games – two extremely hard away games and one home banker and we are 8 for and 1 against …. great so far…..

  7. George says:

SYG, Miguel is an interesting one. It’s a make or break one on him I think.

Yennaris is short, but Dixon wasn’t exactly a skyscraaper lol..

It was Ginge…He’s highly rated as he has a good positional sense, tidy first touch, good delivery and he gets stuck in. We all love a trier, re Jenks a Parlour of old..

  8. ozgunner10 says:

then there is the fourth set of fans who want the whole management team ousted 🙂 oh morning all

  9. ozgunner10 says:

do you remember the soggy pitches Scotty as the corner came over you just knew you would get the laces right in the middle of your forehead ah those were the days

  10. ozgunner10 says:

i’m quite impressed and leaning towards the ‘agree’ with your lists syg – good effort mate. Would have either Torres or Dzeko on my ‘possible in’ column though

  11. keith says:

Syg, spot on, agree with all, but would hang on to frimpong and loan him out, he’s an animal! and still quite young.

  12. ozgunner10 says:

I would also say Jovetic is tops 18m nowhere close to the 30m they are calling for, so not upset if this one leads nowhere as long as he’s not the excuse for not signing anyone at all

  13. Lee says:

Good post and good list SYG..
    Morning all..
I see that awful disease has got hold of Iain Banks. 🙁

  14. Lewis says:

Morning. Hope ur all well. Great post, I fall in the latter category. Agree with SYG’s post although I’d keep the forehead, not a popular decision I know but he has the raw ingredients to be good.

  15. Joywedsjeff says:

SYG… We actually need Gervais. He give us a certain directness that no other can except Jack. At least we need squad players

  16. emma says:

    Goodmorning all
Rednose excuse for Van pursering not scoring so far:

Scott – Goal was scored by Alaba and took a slight deflection from one of the Juventus defenders

Fergie said: “We have to monitor Robin because we still don’t know all about him and the kind of seasons he’s had.

“I don’t think he had a season of such intensity when he was at Arsenal, so we will have to look at that.

He was injured when he was needed most(97/98), had a one season exploit and decided to bite the hands that feed him
Lets wait until next season when it gets worse and the season after. He will manage to get to double figures then and the manure fans will turn on him

  17. Xr!s says:

Scott,Boateng didn’t score on Tuesday night. It was David Alaba. If that kind of goal was scored against us,I bet some people would have blasted the GK

  18. ozgunner10 says:

They will not turn on him Emma (wishful thinking?) he’s about to become one of the reasons they have won the title

  19. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning all,
A very interesting post that Rico, Category supporters good way of looking at it. I do believe we have category players where some are as good as we could hope for, some fill a shirt’ and some that are ffing useless. 🙂

  20. Scott from Oz says:

Emma and Xr!s, you are right.
Emma, that shot took a tiny deflection, travelled another ten yards and swerved wickedly from nothing……..the deflection didn’t cause the movement.
The balls are constantly making keepers look bad, but they get no attention at all.
In saying that, it should be an open invitation to hit it from 25-30 yards out and cross the fingers.

  21. Joywedsjeff says:

OZ, football fans are fickle… If he does not reach this seasons heights next season they will definitely turn on him… And for Fergie, he’s just trying to shield himself and the player. He spent a large part of pre season with us so got his fitness at the colney which carried him for four months. Since december he has looked knackered to me. Fergie should be questioning his coaching method’s especially as regard’s RVP or better still pay a little money for RVP’s manual…

  22. ozgunner10 says:

Emma, agreed. IMO he’s simply to good not to post the 15-20 they need from him each season and many players both at the club and those departed have mentioned the laid back approach to everything we do. Fergie is only really reiterating much or what we have already heard (and posted angry comments on) from others

  23. frednerk says:

The one thing for certain wenger should have followed through,
was the signing of an experienced keeper fact,
and in my opinion in should have replaced Song,
Diaby we new for a fact would get injured.
    I think that makes me a 3.

  24. keith says:

the glass foot ballerina will surely get a long time injury at some stage, thats when the fans frustration will build!

  25. Joywedsjeff says:

Who are those players OZ and how have they set the world on fire since they encounted superior coaching methods?

  26. stevepalmer1 says:

When i was a lad working in a factory one of the older guys had a saying of “Sentiment has no financial value” at the time i never understood what he meant, many years later i started to understand that what i think he was saying was if say a player like Theo ask’s for high wages as he is nearing the end of his contract and you feel that because you have had him for a long time you feel compelled to keep him as he has shown talent, You pay him and extend his contract but if time goes by and he has shown no signs of getting better then you have made yourself a right mug because of sentiment. Does that make sense to you or have i got it wrong.

  27. Joywedsjeff says:

Yeah OZ as regards RVP… Fergie has always brought in new coaches in line with the type of superstar players he has(which Wenger is guilty of not doing). Surprised he hasn’t done the same with RVP.

  28. emma says:

scott -There are issues with today’s ball which needs to be sorted. I remember the Everton v City match when osman took the shot for the goal. The ball deflected in flight before it got to Joe Hart. I remember that day it was a bit windy in Liverpool. So any shot taken from 20-25 yards out going straight to the keeper would have being a big issue for any keeper on that day. Also the FA cup match b/w Chelsea v Man utd. Petr cech was lucky he had an outstretched leg to save the deflected shot by hernandez

  29. ozgunner10 says:

joywedsjeff – i know we like to think otherwise but fact is many of them have collected their trophies since leaving Wenger behind and as we keep hearing Trophies are where its at for these lads not struggling to hold top 4 positions against rather average opposition

  30. Scott from Oz says:

Exactly Emma….i raised the Hernandez shot the other day.
I have said Szczesny has fallen victim to it and copped the criticism, yet it happens all the time and to other keepers yet we think we have the worst keepers around.
Every top class keeper around is being made to look silly.

  31. southyorkshiregunner says:

Morning StevieP .. can you remember Lauren, Gilberto, Pires and Freddy Ljungberg?
All getting injured and/or losing form….
Wenger showed his ruthlessness and nil sentiment. They were all sent on their way… even though they were all “winners” …

So why is Diaby – an insurance company’s worst nightmare, who has never helped us win anything and has perhaps had one decent game in 10 continually been perservered with?

    It just doesn’t stack up.

  32. Joywedsjeff says:

Keith, Fabregas? How has he set the world alight? If he were not a catalan his closest appearance to the first team will be as Song’s partner. He is still one of my favorite players and i try to watch him every chance i get which is most weekends. In Barca, he has turned into an advanced and more superior Gervinho and has offered next to nothing in recent times. He left Arsenal too early for his own personal development although trophy wise he made the right decision.

  33. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, not a single player of recent seasons has left and played better football than he has at Arsenal.
Even Nasri can claim to have left and won a trophy, but was a bit player.

  34. George says:

    SYG, spot on re diaby.

He should get a pay as you play deal in Qatar or go to LA galaxy and enjoy the sunshine.

AW needs to get ruthless again, like dropping TV5.

  35. emma says:

scott – Worst keeper nightmare is the wind. He will have to pray that on match day the wind is not strong enough to deflect the ball when a shot is taken 20/25 yds out

  36. keith says:

sys i think it was an age thing with those players you mentioned, he must see some amazing potential in diaby, god knows he stuck with a lot of bad players a lot longer,

  37. Joywedsjeff says:

Yea Oz, i would give you that- trophies. But how many of them have been the reason’s why their team has won them save Rvp and to a lesser extent Nasri. I am actually of the opinion that Wenger makes average players look better than they really are which is why i get so frustrated with his tendency not to buy world class players.

  38. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning SYG, all i can say on that is that Wenger seems to have favorites he will bend over backward for some and others he shows no heart what so ever,I’m as stumped as you mate.

  39. keith says:

Joyw, from a superior coaching perspective! aka best team in the world! lack of opprtunities and being played out of position has hindered his progress!

  40. emma says:

I feel no sympathy for fabregas. He deserves what he gets(booing from his own catalan fans). In his last season he was feigning injury(hamstring) every 3 weeks and refused to go on pre-season with the team. We sold him at a cheap because he never wanted to go to another club preventing a bidding war.

I heard the bionic man(Messi) will be back for PSG. Looks like the tablets are still working. Thigh injury normally takes 2/3 weeks but Messi’s is less than a week

  41. keith says:

Joyw, I agree wenger makes averge players look better, very good for a feeder club/academy perspective

  42. southyorkshiregunner says:

I said in August that Diaby would break down after September 1st so he couldn’t be replaced. I was around 20 days out.
Rico noted in January 2013 as to why Diaby was being rested when he was fit to play and stated, “is it because Wenger doesn’t want him to get injured before the end of the January transfer deadline?”
    She was ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON.
He’s had one decent game in 14 that he has played this season. I see nothing in him apart from the fact that he’s nothing more than a “ponce” milking the club for over £250K per game he plays.

Kanu had the balls to walk away from a £3M payout, Diaby should do the same. He owes the club.

  43. emma says:

oz – If Van pursering had stayed I think he would have hit 30+ this season with the amount of chances that Cazorla(76) has created this season. He believes in his own hype that he is better in manure colours but in reality he has only 23 goals in all competition(19 in league) compared to 37 he had last season
Just like adebawhore when he hit 30s and felt he was a super star. When he left his goal tally feel from 30s to 15, 8 etc. This season he’s had 2 equal number with Mertesacker 🙂

  44. Joywedsjeff says:

Thanks OZ… SYG, i thought the era of players having good minds had long gone. King Kanu has earned legendary status in my eyes. Nasri would have wrecked portsmouth if he was in that situation.

  45. ozgunner10 says:

Emma not sure we can place the whore in the league of RVP but i see where you are coming from – RVP is not the featured article he had to be for us, United get it done without him, a look at the table suggests we miss him more than they needed him maybe, not sure about that one as he’s responsible for so many of their points already. I think its about a small adjustment for him, he’s inches not miles off and that is simply timing. He’ll get it back he’s to good not to. Not sure about ‘his own hype’ as i have not seen much of that other than him saying “he’s where he can win things”, which he has already proven barring a meltdown? As you can tell i am not one of the anti RVP brigade and totally understand why he left and agree 100% with his decision and those of others wanting silverware. I feel the same about TH, he left for the same reason in truth and now he has them

  46. stevepalmer1 says:

Many have stated that having competition in a team for places is a healthy situation, i tend to disagree, As of late i have watched players from many teams get substituted by another player who plays the same position and although they shake hands the looks on their faces tells a bigger story. Van Persie at the start of the season was the automatic choice he looked happy and he scored goals Rooney played deep and supplied Perse and he just kept putting them away, Later on in the season where rednose was trying to rest him, Wellbeck and Rooney came in and played well, it then seemed as if Perse was put off his stride, he then looked as if he was under pressure and his goal touch deserted him . The same kind of thing has happened with many other clubs City for one that seem to have many players not happy with their lot. i personally think that having many quality players in the same positions are not always a good thing.

  47. al says:

morning, nice list. diaby should get a pay-as-you-play contract if they want him to stay. I am a bit surprised that eisfield has not been promoted already.

  48. ozgunner10 says:

sp1 – interestingly you have used the current champions and the soon to be crowned, as your examples. Its a problem i could live with 🙂

  49. southyorkshiregunner says:

“United get it done without him, a look at the table suggests we miss him more than they needed him maybe”

    Well put, Ozzie

At Arsenal Van Persie WAS the main man. Main men like being the focal point, the name on the back of fans shirts …. For Welbeck to come in and take his place …… Good god …. Torres has suffered similar at Chelsea ….

..A bit like Messi losing his place to Song ….

As for Torres, I think he would be a good fit for us…..

  50. George says:

Emma , the mighty Mert will outscore the Togolese clown

As for your post @11:18, couldn’t out it better. Fabregas at this rate will lose his place in the National side. Our Cazorla is playing better at the moment

  51. rico says:

    Morning all…

Very sad re Iain Banks, just heard Jeremy Vine talking about it on the radio. Apparently he has asked his partner to be his widow. How cruel can life be…..

Lee – I’d be happy to Cesar take our keeping gloves. I thought he wanted to work at Qpr after his playing days were over?

Of course we didn’t believe him did we…

  52. SD London says:

Good post but too much wishful thinking.

I can read Wenger now like a book after many years of studying him. 🙂

    THIS ARE MY PREDICTIONS ;

Eisfield and Gnabry will be promoted because he gave a clue this week by commending their efforts in the next generation competition.
    So that’s two holes covered.

Many of the nubs will be sold definitely because they are not doing anything for our cause at the moment.(OBVIOUS)

Wenger will not buy a new keeper because he now has competition in Fabianski and Shezney, no more no 1.

He might buy Jovetic if they play ball by reducing his asking price at most £17mill, anything higher, Wenger will not buy. But it all depends if he decides to experiment with Gibbs playing as a Left winger so he will push Podolski forward and give Giroud proper competition, then he will not buy Jovetic.

He will get another midfielder from Spain probably from Malaga at maybe £7Mill because Malaga will be dead broke no champions league for them next year (they need to save and get all the money they can).

That will be it and if we are lucky he will buy Ashley Williams from Swansea and that is if Verminator gets sold to Bacelona.

So dont hold your breath on the list above, i would have loved it but can’t see it happening.

  53. NashuaGunners says:

@SteveP, are we about to experience the same thing with Monreal and Gibbs?

Syg, the same thing will be said about Andy Carroll when he was in Newcastle. When he left he lost his touch.

  54. George says:

SD, you are probably right, but i think our cap on transfers is at £15m mark, , so Jovetic unless he is around that bracket is not coming as we still have klingon, and Campbell night get a look in

  55. Wavy says:

    Morning all

Torres a good fit for us, yeh sure would. He could join the list at the top of the post. One of the over-priced,over-paid useless lumps of flesh that make our club a poorer place to be!
Spare us Torres, Akpom and Afobe have more chance of hitting the target than the wayward spaniard!
    Soz, but there it is.

As for the post I’m with the last lot. I just want the club to be as good as it can be without ‘cheating’ pay what you can afford, live in the real world not fantasy football land, a la Abraham….,sheik ManSore! Etc etc,
Back to the losers list; Miguel, if he is that good how come Barca have not come calling and talking about his dna? Perhaps he should be given a chance or shown the door?

  56. southyorkshiregunner says:

Sometimes Nash, players move on and into a different system which is unsuitable for them…. Carroll is an aggressive player who likes to be fed the ball at height (he would have been a great fit in our 70-71 side), and Barton who continually supplied him, was one of the best crosses of the ball in the Premiership….. Liverpool play a completely different style….. In England we term it “horses for courses” …

  57. Scott from Oz says:

    Players leaving to win trophies…..blahhhhhh!!
How many take a pay cut to “win trophies”????

  58. southyorkshiregunner says:

This was mentioned on Saturday I think by TSGH…. “What makes you think Torres would be a good fit?”

With Liverpool he was a brilliant player, so good, that Abramovich paid a record £50M for him
Last season he helped win the biggest prize in Europe and The FA Cup…

UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship Player of the Tournament: 2002
UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship top scorer: 2002
PFA Team of the Year: 2007–08, 2008–09
UEFA Euro Team of the Tournament: 2008
ESM Team of the Year: 2008
UEFA Team of the Year: 2008
    FIFPro World XI: 2008, 2009
FIFA World Player of the Year Third place: 2008
    Ballon d’Or Third place: 2008
FIFA Confederations Cup Silver Boot: 2009
FIFA Confederations Cup Team of the Tournament: 2009
    UEFA Euro Golden Boot: 2012

    Won
UEFA European Football Championship 2008, 2012
    World Cup: 2010

Comparison: Bergkamp was as good a player before he bombed at Inter Milan. We bought him and turned his career around.

Again, I reckon Torres would be a good fit. A great player just doesn’t suddenly become bad ….

  59. stevepalmer1 says:

Sorry Naz, just had a bath, No we wont is my answer, as Gibbs will never stay fit long enough to cause a problem Monreal is now the No 1, Jenks as well will become No 1 Czezesney will be shot.

  60. Scott from Oz says:

Torres is a player who wants the ball at his feet and not on his head.
I think our style of play would offer him plenty of chances each game, and think he would flourish.
Still, who can really say for sure?

  61. southyorkshiregunner says:

ha ha lol. Nice one Stevie. That is what I call culling the squad….

Ever watched Paul Newman in “Hud” with the cows that had ‘foot and mouth’?

  62. southyorkshiregunner says:

No one can, Scott. That is the beauty of football.

There are loads of different answers you can put to loads of different questions ……

  63. stevepalmer1 says:

That would be kind to some of them Syg, I know i will get slated by Scott and many others but we need to be cruel to be kind.

  64. George says:

If Torres was on the cheap, under £10m he’d be worth a punt…defo

but it wont happen as he will be used as part of a deal to AM to get in falcao to Chavski..

Dzeko on the other hand is more realistic, and proably a better target to chase

  65. stevepalmer1 says:

Just changing the theme a little has anybody else noticed just how the home advantage has helped the home team. Ball boys that race a ball back in place when their losing and slow as hell when their winning. Where towels were supplied for the home team for throw ins but never shown the other way. Where players kick the ball into the home fans while winning in the last minutes for the ball to be held. Just observations to combat this i hear that players are now having towels sewn inside their shirts. pity we could’nt sew a bit of intelegence into some of our players.

  66. Wavy says:

I think we need a fox in the box! Jeffers is available, if we can wrestle him away from Accrington Stanley?

  67. Wavy says:

    Sp1:
Using these methods of delay and preferment have been going on since Adam left paradise!
It’s called professionalism! Now where have we heard that before, different style same reason. Rule bending?

  68. NashuaGunners says:

SteveP. Some wonder why the England national team is not doing well; well there is your answer. The promising lad to replace Ashley Cole never stay fit long enough while Monreal is getting more games to compete in Spain national team.

Syg. if David Villa is for sale I would take him over Torres any time of the day. He didn’t even have much chances during the world cup because of David Villa. At chelsea even though the ball is been played in his foot BA will have more chances of game time than him.

  69. southyorkshiregunner says:

The “goals-for” column isn’t that bad Wavy. I think if we had a “goals-missed” column i think it would be treble that.

It’s not a box-player we need as such, just a few golden cogs in our well oiled machine to supplement the bronze and silver ones we already have, and ready placed replacements available to be fitted if or when the cogs break.

Any unused or broken cogs should be sent to StevieP who’d bag ’em up to be used in the foundations of the proposed new flyover over at Ealing Tram sheds

  70. rockyrocastle07 says:

Afternoon syg. How’s tricks? Busy, busy mate. Allowed myself a spare 15 mins or so today to get on here!

  71. rockyrocastle07 says:

How you doin SP? I definitely fall into the 3rd category above. Did anyone else receive an email from AFC today regarding “win tickets to Arsenal Vs Man United”?

I sure do Rico. Gotta keep the wolves from the door!

Yeah heard that on the radio syg. knowing our tinpot justice system, they’ll do half of that and come out with new identities. If they make it out alive that is….

  74. rockyrocastle07 says:

I don’t think I’ll get the free tickets going by the answers I put in their survey (the reason I don’t go to Arsenal more often part where you can select ‘other’ and write your own words in). Depends if they are more accepting of the one word Rico won’t allow on here than she is!!

  78. Lee says:

Arsenal have been given an injury boost with the news that Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott could be back in the running for the game with Norwich on April 13.

Wilshere, 20, returned in October from a 17-month absence because of a stress fracture to the right foot and was recently given a three-week break to guard against a repeat of that injury.

The midfielder missed Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Bayern Munich as they went out of the Champions League as well as England’s World Cup qualifiers away to San Marino and Montenegro. However, while the weekend’s trip to West Brom is too soon, assistant manager Steve Bould is confident that he and Walcott, who has been laid low with a groin injury, could be ready next week.

“We have good news with both of them,” he said. “Jack and Theo are outside running, and have an outside chance of being involved against Norwich a week on Saturday.

“We just have Ryo [Miyaichi] and Abou [Diaby] out for the long-term so things are looking good in terms of availability.”

There was also good news for defender Nacho Monreal, who is fit after hurting his knee trying to stop a goal against Reading. Bould added: “Nacho has recovered well from his knee problem from the impact of the post and has trained the last couple of days so is available for the weekend.”

  79. emma says:

Looks like Bouldy is in charge

  80. SD London says:

I think Torres shouldn’t have been mentioned , he was talented but something happened to him along the way and it could be Psychological sadly.

They are human too and go through stuff but he cant get back to his best anymore.

So , no Torres for me even at £10Mill

  81. SD London says:

    Noticed that too Emma.
I thought, what a coincidence that we started playing well and Bouldy and Wenger are talking to each other on the bench.

    Funny right ?

  82. potter says:

Just been reading that Cesar wants to leave Qpr, we should snap him up in the summer….

    Is there an echo ?

  83. Joywedsjeff says:

Bouldy in charge? Does that mean that Wenger is in Spain trying to convince Falcao to join… One is allowed to dream right? On a second thought it means that we won’t concede a goal on saturday because Bould the Messiah is taking charge of training… Yippee

  84. rico says:

    😆 Potter, just thought I’d be naughty…

Jeff – nice thought, but I suspect it’s more likely that Wenger has man flu…

  85. southyorkshiregunner says:

An extract from “The Inside Man” by Bob Wilson

“What do you reckon to us chucking a bid in for Torres?” Wenger asked sat back in his two-thousand five hundred pound red leather chair, whilst puffing smoke from a half-finished Gitanes and casually tapping the ash into a red ashtray, which had been given to him after winning the 2004 League title by Sir Peter Hill-Wood.
SD thought about it and shook his head. “He was talented but something happened to him along the way.”
Arsene gave a blank look and took another drag of his cigarette.
“It could be Psychological,” quipped SD.
SD knew the score. He was the one who scoured the playgrounds of France looking for the next big thing. SD was the main man – the dogs fucking bollocks – He knew what was needed, not Arsene. Arsene was just a rich French fool.
“I think Chelsea would sell for ten million,” stated Wenger.
“But what about Gervinho,” SD replied. “Getting Torres would stifle his career.”
“Fuck Gervinho!” Wenger stated, vigorously outing his cigarette as he got out of his chair. “I should never have listened to you.”
“Come on Arsene, he’s not that bad,” SD pleaded.
“L’homme est un poulet sans tête!” snapped Wenger.
“What does that mean?” SD asked.
Wenger just gave SD a glare.
SD had brought him successes such as Diaby, Eboue, Park and Squillaci. He deserved respect.

See don’t blame Arsene. Blame SD London.

Afternoon Gooners, it’s bloody freezing in London today.

  89. potter says:

2-2 now , possible semi final double header with Chelsea on the cards , which should slow them both up.

  90. allezkev says:

Galas off with an injury to add to Jermain Defoe’s earlier good news, then bingo, over ‘he’ goes and Gareth Bale turns his ankle.

You could almost hear the ankle ligaments go watching it on TV…

Gareth Southgate after the game was talking in terms of 4 to 6 weeks out for Bale…

Now lets see how one-man team Middlesex Hotspurs manage without their talisman for the rest of the season???

  91. stevepalmer1 says:

Adam, should you cast your eye over tomorow, you asked a question on Vodka the other day. Was that Vodka your mate said was good Pycckhh Ctahapt as i ran out and went down to get a bottle and they had run out of Goosey Gander and when i looked i saw this bottle and, i have drunk it before just couldn’t pronounce it. if this is the one, its allright but its not GG

  92. Scott from Oz says:

Steve, on your 12.39…..not aure why you would say that.
I have said plenty of times there are a number of p,ayers we need to move on, and should have sent on their bikes a year or two back.
We may not necessarily agree on one or two of the actual players, but we need a clean out.
    Morning all.

  93. stevepalmer1 says:

Hiya Scott, That wasn’t a dig mate, But i know you see some players a little different than me,

  94. Scott from Oz says:

I saw a close up pic of the instant where Bale rolled his ankle, and it looked bloody painful!!
May well have snapped ligament or even broken the ing.
I doubt we will see him again this season, either way.

  95. stevepalmer1 says:

Don’t like to see any player get injured, specially a gifted player like him, but i think they may struggle now. They didn’t look that good tonight and i hope it gets worse.

  96. Scott from Oz says:

Fabianski i will defend Steve, as i really believe he has NEARLY every tool to be a world class keeper, and the thing he has been missing seems to be on the improve…self confidence.
Wellington could be a sensation, but can we even get him in the country??
    The rest i agree with.
Deadwood….taking up squad places and wages from players who really could strengthen us.
I don’t think we are too far off total agreement mate.
I don’t think a lot of the other players are absolute shit as plenty suggest, but for whatever reason, they have not worked out and for both Arsenal and the play himself, best be moved on.

  97. allezkev says:

Forgot Aaron Lennon, he went off after aggravating his damaged hamstring…

Yeah, I certainly enjoyed tonight’s game at Stadio Middlesex… 😀

Actually thought that one or two of the Basel players looked quite useful…

    Nighty night Gooners

    7. Luis Suarez
    8. Torres,if available on the cheap!

  99. rico says:

I think they may yet choke but I’m more worried about us, can we really win the fixtures we need to in order to overtake the others…

Everton are not far behind us….
