Wenger set to sign Torres? Scouts to watch Wanyama & German International signs on…

Let’s start with the titbits for a change:

We are reported to be checking out Oliver Torres, a 19 year old midfielder from Atletico Madrid. It’s inevitable that Arsene Wenger would be looking to Spain because of financial crisis in the country and right now, La Liga is looking a very good place to shop.

We could see quite a few more talented Spaniards deserting Espana over the next 2/3 years and what’s the betting that Arsene gets in there first. Mind you he’s been doing that for years with the younger generation.

Park Chu-Young  is a target for Steve Kean at Blackburn as a replacement for the injured Leon Best. Whether it’s a loan deal or a permanent move is not known, but the latter would be seen by most to be the better.

The Daily Fail report that an Arsenal scout is set to head off and watch Victor Wanyama again tonight when Celtic face Helsinki in a Champions League qualifying fixture. Also in attendance will be someone from Manchester United and QPR. According to the same paper we have already watched him in action twice before.

Wanyama is valued around £7 Million and is possibly the defensive midfielder we are more likely to see join the squad. Ok, the real deal in most fans eyes is M’Vila or Capoue but Wenger has made it clear that any signings will not be to the detriment of the clubs financial stability:

We have to be ambitious but also make sure we are not getting in trouble financially.

It is difficult for us because the wages in some other clubs are very high.

But of course our players quite rightly compare themselves to the players of the other clubs.

Does he mean that our players look at what others are earning at the likes of both Manchester Clubs and Chelsea and start demanding similar, or does he mean that we can’t always offer a potential signing what he’s already being paid elsewhere?

I can’t think it’s the latter as we don’t often sign players who are out to earn £130,000 plus a week do we and if that turns out to be all the player is interested in, aka Na$ri, then they soon move on anyway in search of more trophies money.

If he means we can compete with wages that players are already on when we try and secure a deal, well why not stop paying such vast sums of money to very average players within our squad. That would soon rectify the problem, as would getting rid of a few who clearly have no future with us.

One player who is set to stay is Germany youth international Serge Gnabry who signed his first professional contract yesterday having recently turned 17. He’s one for the future that’s for sure.

Maybe today we’ll hear that we have signed Santi Cazorla has signed, he’s one for the present, or Robin has left us for Juventus as sadly, he seems destined to be one of the past…..

That’s it for today, have a good one and thanks for the snippets allezkev…

agag will be very cross with Kev, he told me about Torres and we all know it’s not the right one to keep her smiling…. 😉

  2. Scott from Oz says:

    Evening all.
    Robin??
    Whos he,Rico.
It’s tough these days to find footballers and not glorified benchwarmers.
How do you weed out players who join your club from a lesser club or league, then see the dollars Citeh throw around and want a piece of it?
I’m not sure how a guy like Nasri enjoys the cash whilst spending so much time warming the bench.

  3. Mohd Isa says:

If you pay less money its obvious the player will not be as good as someone for whom you pay more. Of cours there are exceptions eg Carroll.Wenger has to get real. The days he can get a nugget and turn into a wc star are over.
Btw we all know about financial doping at MC and Chelsea and before that.Wenger can keep his opinion to himself, These teams are winning trophies and to hell with financial prudence and developing your own talent to win trophies.

  4. devilgunner says:

    Good Morning Fine Folk.

Good post Rico…….the headline took me in. I thought it was the chavs CF. 😉

Wanyama over Sahin, M’Vila and Capoue due to wages I think also. However of that lot I prefer Capoue.

  5. rico says:

Mohd Isa – I don’t agree there, just look at a few of ours, they didn’t cost vast amounts. Kos and Ox are just two…

    Morning devil – I can’t think why 😉

Capoue for me too, but I’d settle for M’Vila – but, I can see Wanyama being the more likely and if he’s good, then that’s ok by me too….

He’s not that tall though is he?

  6. Gunner-Mac says:

    Morning all.
This torres kid is a real talent.Hope Wenger really is interested in this player.

  7. Potter says:

Not sure it’s that we can’t afford to pay them what they already earn. It’s more the case that the players agents have a sliding scale of potential earnings at the other clubs and we will not match those salaries, Players through their agents are holding clubs ( not only us ) to ransom , just look up the 7 sisters and you will see the same problems.`I don’t blame them for trying to maximise their earnings but if they continue down this path so many clubs will go to the wall that there will be nowhere to earn and the number of players will reduce . Not that this generation will care because they will be retired by then.

  8. southyorkshiregunner says:

Barca aren’t serious AT ALL about Song… I read a blog early doors yesterday – poss. Arseblog quoting ‘sports witness’ or sport “something or other” mentioning how agents manipulate headlines and which basically said “watch the newsnow feeds after this”…
…He/They were right… Even the Daily Mail picked up on it, which just shows you how shite their journalists are…
No Spanish newspaper have verified it.
…Barcelona are looking at high profile players like Neymar, not Song…

There were apparently two meetings Monday and Tuesday between Malaga and Arsenal re: Cazorla..

Link on Malaga’s local paper – A bit like their London Evening Standard.

    http://malagacf.diariosur.es/noticias/2012-08-01/traspaso-cazorla-arsenal-parece-20120801.html

  9. rico says:

If we didn’t pay players like Almunia, Nik, Denilson etc etc such crazy wages then we could afford to pay better players…

Once we have got a few off the books this summer, we’ll be far better off…

  10. Gunner-Mac says:

This Torres kid helped Spain win euro 2012 under 19’s this summer.
He is a very good prospect for the future!
Rather we get him than the Niang kid from france.

  11. Scott from Oz says:

I’m not suggesting it would be A good or bad thing, but if we get Cazorla, would this NOT be the type of player to make RVP think twice about leaving??

  12. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

I’d like to think so Scott but I think RVP’s mind is pretty made up – would love to be proved wrong though.

  13. Gunner-Mac says:

Niang special.. I guess he is that but i feel creative mid rather than striker is what we should have/build a surplus of.

  14. W.A.T.H says:

Do we actually now want vP to change his mind when it’s pretty obvious his “ambition” he’s referring to is the size of his weekly pay cheque…!

    Morning all..!

  15. rico says:

    Shame Syg 😉

Scott – go back to your post the other day, if it’s AFC who want him gone, then no going back. If he wants only more money, then no going back…

But, if he is true to his word, then cazorla is a good start, but he alone wouldn’t be enough imho…

Add M’Vila/Capoue, Sakho and a keeper, that might be though 😉

  16. rico says:

    Morning Wath..

I’m still hoping his words were truthful, but I know deep down its money and if that is the case, then no….

  17. W.A.T.H says:

Scott, “IF” and I know it’s an “IF” the stories are true from Italy and UK that he wants 200K a week and level salaries as this one and that one then his “ambition” is purely about the size of his salary…! We know it could all be gossip and rumour and bullshit but it really now looks like it’s true. Am pissed off with his greed but am I surprised that yet another player is a mercenary..? Not in the slightest they feel fuck all for the fans or the clubs that pay them and there is no loyalty what so ever despite the drivel they come out with. We as fans should now this by now and realise they are ALL there purely for money from top to bottom, the only people at the Club for love is the Fans…!!

  18. rico says:

In a shock interview, FIFA agent Fabio Parisi claims “Juventus have had a signed contract with Robin Van Persie for some time locked in a desk.”

The Arsenal star has stated he won’t renew his deal with the Gunners, which expires next summer, so he has been at the centre of a bidding war between Juve, Manchester United and Manchester City.

“I think Juventus have had a signed contract with Van Persie for some time locked away in a notary’s desk,” FIFA agent Parisi told Sportitalia television.

“It is just my opinion, but I think there’s an eight out of 10 chance the Dutchman will join the Bianconeri.

“Juventus want to win and he is considered the ideal addition to achieve that. I don’t think Edin Dzeko is the right player for the Bianconeri.”

There have been reports that Juve are cooling their interest in RVP, as if he joins Manchester City then that will free up Dzeko for a Turin switch.

  19. Scott from Oz says:

    Agreed Wath.
I wll say this thoug, even though they are few and far between, there are still some loyal players around.

  20. alanbstardmp says:

Rico. May I suggest all contributors use first names. I saw ” Torres ” and was thinking of someone else

Who give a flying fig about some 19 y o donkey driver? We go to the trouble of opening these things, and time and time again, not least from pro Journalists we read with disappointment they are talking about someone else

The kid is not what we need. In fact, I’d seriously prefer the donkey, they are lovely creatures

  21. Micko says:

Morning all, just over two weeks till the big kick off.
Looks like an Albanian consortium has offered to buy Malaga, sounds dodgey already does that.
Rico, starting to doubt that traffic jam rumour now, must have got a puncture or something.

  22. alanbstardmp says:

” I’m not sure how a guy like Nasri enjoys the cash whilst spending so much time warming the bench. ”

    I couldn’t think of a better way to ( not ) earn a living

  23. alanbstardmp says:

I’d rather do what Nasri is doing and donate some weekly wages to charity

Far more productive. Or finance a new political party

  24. Micko says:

I said that the other day rico, it’s like Mata all over again, if we don’t announce we’ve signed him by Friday I don’t think we ever will.

  25. alanbstardmp says:

    alan, in a word – no 😉

So I will read a new post saying ” Beckham a Gunner ” I’ll open it, and find out 15 y o Billy Beckham, an academic failure and pidgeon fancier from Catford is at the Arsenal academy.

    Very good

  26. Lee says:

Romford, I think it will BUT 49 shipped and we’ve bought three attacking players…Bouldy’s going to have his work cut out!!!!

  27. Scott from Oz says:

    Done deal guys.
Alan, you reckon he donates money to anything but the Samir Nasri early retirement fund?
Maybe his Aussie agent cops a fee for watching his back lol!!

  28. Scott from Oz says:

Why don’t you offer up post Alan??
    I’ve even got a title for you……..”Arsenal sign English thugs…..they can’t play,but who cares?”

  29. Scott from Oz says:

I think the Malaga issue is complicating things.
Still,no point stressing over it…if it happens it happens,if not,we’re back to square one.

  30. Scott from Oz says:

Come on,put your money where our mouth is mate.
It’s fun being on the other side for a change, and enlightening.

  31. alanbstardmp says:

    I’ve even got a title for you……..”Arsenal sign English thugs…..they can’t play,but who cares?”

They don’t have to play. Johnny Foreigner can’t take the heat

In the immortal words of corporal Jones ” They don’t like it up em!

  32. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

    Fingers crossed Lee.

Yes, Bouldy indeed has a lot of work to do. It may just be, but I think a lot of the problem comes from the fact the players aren’t disciplined, and part of that comes from Wenger. I’ve felt for a while that the players don’t always go into the smaller games with the same mindset as if we were playing a Sp*rs, City etc.

Look at the City game at home for example. There was cohesion, organisation, discipline and commitment the whole game. We maintained focus from start to finish, kept a clean sheet and should’ve won by more than 1. We were never really in danger of conceding that day, despite the fact we played the best team in the league. Yet, a couple weeks later, we’re all over the shop against Norwich at home, and ship in 3, could easily have been more too. You see the problem?

This is part of the reason i’m so keen to get a DM in. And the fact Bouldy doesn’t take crap and is much more an in your face type of character can only benefit us IMO. After all, most of our defenders all start for their respective countries so they aren’t exactly going to be bad are they?

  33. Scott from Oz says:

It’s the team that can play badly and still get a result that wins the league.
We couldn’t do that early in the season.
We did manage it after the first few months, but it was already gone.

  34. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

I was also there Lee, screaming my lungs out! As annoying as it was, it wasn’t surprising for myself and many others watching. Arteta is the most disciplined midfielder we have, which is why you can see why we only won one game whe he was out injured.

Song for all his qualities is not a DM, hence why i’d get rid, buy M’Vila and have Le Coq battling with him (he could do with bulking up a bit though).

  35. Scott from Oz says:

I hope he takes up the challenge Rico.
I sent you that post because I had to write it.
It’s why I give you so much credit……I need a reason to write!i can’t flick a switch and write an article, where you come up with something each and every day….bloody tough gig.

  36. rico says:

Romford – my TV got a screaming at that day…

Scott – he won’t, I bet. Can’t you think of something else you feel the need to write 😉 😉

  37. alanbstardmp says:

Alan,it sounds like you can’t take the heat 🙂
Have a go,do us Aussies proud!!

No use. Anything I write will not pass the FA anti racism shite

  38. alanbstardmp says:

No the FA rules that disregard HM’s judges and are ” re trying ” JT ” on the balance of probability ” rather than beyond reasonable doubt

As for British law, if you respect this anti white, anti British legislation, you have failed the memory of those that spilled blood for your country, including the Aussies who helped save yer arses after not minding yer own business.

Says a lot about minorities in Britain that they don’t speak up against it

    No better here really

  39. Scott from Oz says:

Rico,if Highbury Lad wins again tomorrow,I’ll certainly have a subject lol.
He’s going well…..3 starts for a win and a second,as well as a very unlucky run.
He’s improving each time he goes around,so I’ve high hopes for tomorrow.

  40. alanbstardmp says:

Oh Rico, your site is generated from the US. So if any bugger wants to play lawyer, I’m protected by the US first amendment

British law has not authority here, Rico

” The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. “

  41. Scott from Oz says:

Alan,I totally agree with that post, but I’ll leave the politics alone….I do get fired up over it,and your point of our fallen heroes being forgotten and disrespected in some ways is totally valid.

  42. southyorkshiregunner says:

Arsenal aren’t transparent. Wenger is even less so.
All the Spanish sports papers are reporting on him 99% leaving for Arsenal.
    Terms have been agreed.
Unless his medical goes tits up, the jobs a good ‘un…
Just hope he’s not Asa Hartford ….!
Three quality players join the club for just under £40M …

  43. rico says:

    Thanks syg..

alan, matters not where it is generated, I as the owner of the site are responsible for keeping it ‘PC’ within the land of where I live and I shall continue to do just that, the best I can…

    Who owns Twitter and Facebook?

  44. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Basically the same price as Andy Carroll. Awesome business if this deal comes through. Add M’Vila and GK for me then i’ll be looking happier 🙂

  45. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Pele
the M’Vila signing would show frigging mega-INTENT.
the Sahin loan to add to that even more so….

Replacing the shite with good quality players.
All the fans will be on a high if these go through. All of them.

  46. Scott from Oz says:

SYG,it’s a great point, and one worth delving deeper into.
HOW is it we can buy three top class, experienced performers for 40 odd million (assuming Cazorla comes in)??
    Is it because of Wenger?
    Is it because of Arsenal?
Is it because signs of the football economy slowing are coming to the fore??
Is it all three of the above,or something else again??

  47. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

I do like Sahin SYG, the only thing that makes me worry about this signing is that the Wilshere injury could be even worse than imagined. Hope not though.

  48. southyorkshiregunner says:

I think its all three Scott.
Wenger appears to be building a new team within the team. Sort of complementing what we have already got.

Once he clears the deadwood on Diaby gets crocked for half the season in the Liverpool game on 1st Sept, we’ll have a clear indication of how we’ll fair.

M’Vila plus another, and I think we can win the title.

    Watch our odds drop.

  49. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

I am very exicited about Cazorla but as SYG said, M’Vila really is the jizz that will get the juices flowing. People will really sit up and take notice if that deal goes through.

  50. rico says:

Sky Sports say he is travelling to London, wonder if the Tiny Totts or Chavs have made an offer 😉 😉

  51. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Sam Allardyce signing Carroll?
They would make good bed partners.
Allardyce players a direct game with the focal point of his set up being an out and out centre-forward who can mix it, get hold of the ball and connect with crosses.
West Ham will be an awkward side this season.

  52. ktr7 says:

Hi gays 😉 good read.Cazorla seems to be on his bike which is good news.however, with rumours of us going after Sahin im becoming increasingly pessimistic about jack.i wouldn’t be surprised if he plays no part at all in the 1st half of the season at the very least 🙁

  53. Scott from Oz says:

I heard a very good interview from a top sports physio last night.
Firstly, the guy has absolutely no attachment to Arsenal at all.
He explained the problems Jack has faced from the start of this injury problem,as well as those faced by the guys trying to fix them!
To cut a long story sort,he said he’s seen it all before, and says neither Jack,Arsenal or their medical team can be held accountable at all for the initial injury, nor are they to blame for the ongoing issues and actual time he’s been out.
He also said there is no way they could have predicted the ongoing problems,so no,they haven’t lied at all about expected recovery time.

  54. southyorkshiregunner says:

    KTR7 – You always need to have a contingency plan. A plan B or C or D.
Diaby is always going to fail you but Wilshere, like Charlie George in 1970-71 will have a part to play.

For the first pre-season in years (since Campbell/Van Bronk) Wenger is showing Intent…

Get the M’Vila in and we’ll all be smiling…. Apart from Song of course

  55. rico says:

Hi Kt, Jack’s comeback creeps back, best that way though than rush him and lose him for longer…

Not sure I believe the Sahin story…

  56. boomergooner1727 says:

would it be crazy to think arsenal have learned their lesson…so much so that m’vila is partial insurance for song’s contract situation we face next summer?

  57. ktr7 says:

Cazorla has always been very good but he was unlucky to be born in the same era as don Andres Iniesta and Silva.however, now he may step it up a few notches to get recognition he deserves.brilliant signing.

  58. rico says:

I hope so b1727 – some reckon he’s heading our way, i’m still doubting it will happen….

    Hope I’m wrong..

  59. ktr7 says:

Rumour is that Cazorla was the man who was Cesc’s replacement with Mata as backup but we lost out on both.it looks like Arsene is trying to mould tiki taka (sahin/jack/Arteta/Cazorla) with directness and pace (ryo/theo/gerv/poldi) in his 4th Arsenal team.its hard not to get a little excited… 😎

  60. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Second that KT, if it wasn’t for Iniesta, who IMO is the best player in the world outside Messi, a lot of people would’ve seen a lot more of him internationally.

Those who watch La Liga regularly though will know what he’s about.

  61. ktr7 says:

Romford another thing i love about Cazorla he is 2 footed which makes him very unpredictable.i’ve seen him curl in freekicks with either foot.

  62. devilgunner says:

Wilshere has suffered a setback again it seems. However, reading through this one can understand why……………..

The issue could be that the size of the bones around the ankle are obviously very small, yet you have the entire load of the body on the ankle and heel region – they are the main load-bearing bones of the body. They provide us speed and agility but at the same time, if they are put under repetitive stress, they can easily become affected.

It could be that he takes an extraordinary amount of stress on a certain point; you can be really unlucky that way with the shape and of your hip bone or femur for example. That can cause an increased amount of stress at the ankle which requires a long process of rehab.

If a player is unable to reach an improvement in their function with strength, control, balance, conditioning, etc. then he might find that this becomes a niggling problem. Much depends on the rehab plan and how soon a player returns to activity.

What has probably happened is he has lost a level of strength with each surgical procedure, got a little bit back during rehab but then had another surgery and been set back again. That can be draining both physically and mentally within a year’s time and takes its toll on a person.

    Dr Arjun Viswanath
Senior Sports Physiotherapist at BMI The London Independent Hospital

  63. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

Yes it’s awesome KT. His stronger foot is his right but he’s adept on his other too. Don’t remember the last two-footed player we have?

There’s a real feel good factor building up, let’s hope this isn’t just a false dawn.

  64. devilgunner says:

No its not Rico. And it explains why the sudden interest in box to box midfielders like Sahin, Wanyama etc.

  65. Lee says:

Maybe AW should of strengthened the midfield a few seasons ago thus not needing to over-play Jack! Just a thought….

  66. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

It’s very true Lee. His tendency to overplay youngsters oftem leads us into this position.

  67. rico says:

    Certainly does devil… very sad…

Very good point Lee, the one player who really has come through youth project is possibly ruined….

  68. Romford Pele (formerly HC) says:

It’s true Rico, but at least a older player is fully developed. Wilshere played a full season at 18 basically – the guy is still young and his bones are still growing in certain areas. He needed protection.

  69. southyorkshiregunner says:

s2s… Ganso’s got a £40M buy out and according to the Spanish sports press Neymar will be joining Barcelona….!!!!!

  70. rico says:

I’ve been bleating on about the youngsters bones growing for years Romford, and totally agree with you…

Still think the older players are over played because we have lacked depth in the squad, that coupled with bringing them back too early for the same reasons..

  71. rico says:

Adam will be impressed with the BR that sits high on NN, it’s headed:

‘Why Santi Cazorla won’t sign for Arsenal’

Think they might be a bit wrong on that one…

  72. Micko says:

Isn’t that why we introduced the GPS tracking system when we did to try and spot when players were running on empty, AW knew Wilshire was knackered last summer and didn’t want him to travel with the U21’s, a few weeks later down the line he got injured in a ruddy friendly and 12 months later still hasn’t recoved from it.

  73. rico says:

    I posted that yesterday Lee 😉 😉

Cracking dance routine eh, and looks like Sagna is moving well, great news…

  74. KM says:

Neymar is such an exciting player

The whole Brazil team is so exciting to watch – 100 x better than Spain’s style

  75. rico says:

Weren’t we linked with Ganso a few weeks ago, meant to be watching him during the Olympics??

KM, out of our price range eh…

  76. bondex says:

hi all..miss u guys a lot,my wife doesn’t understand what i do here all the time.guess most women don’t.trying to get well for tomorrow (sick leave is over)..any news (well apart from GB winning another gold) thank God my health isn’t tied to us signing all the players rumoured…guess i’d still be very sick then.

  77. southyorkshiregunner says:

If you’ve forgotten what this guy can do ..

When he’s good, he’s good. An exceptional finisher

  78. rico says:

But he’s not good often enough syg, no-one can doubt he is a great player but he can’t keep his head up….

Hi agag, thought you’d like that…

  79. Satan to Saint says:

Howdy Lee, Rico, SYG and all fine gooners,

As it turned out Ganso didn’t play and well Neymar is shyte. lol. He missed a sitter and few other chances. Thumb down to him. lol. But Olympics is so much more fun then transfer window and all sagas. Its much welcome intervention.

Btw eight shuttle-rs got thrown out of Olympics for throwing games away today. I wonder how many points will be deducted from United points if FA applied the same to PL. Any thoughts? I think 18 at least.

  80. Satan to Saint says:

SYG- I am a big big big big fan of Arsh. I really hoped him to do well. I just hope he gets that intent and motivation back. If you go back to his second season when most our strikers were injured and he played at focal point of attack, you’d find he’s so so so much better than most strikers in the world and he’s movement will even make RvP feel dwarf. He was fucking awesome. Wenger was pioneer of 4-6-0 at that time and Cesc is no where near as good a false #9 as Arsh. Hell, I always feel what it could have been had he always been motivated.

  81. rico says:

Hi S2S – serves those badminton lot right, bloomin cheats 😉

Different though, the badminton players all wanted to lose, just to get a weaker couple next round….

  82. agirlagunner says:

Well, rico, I liked it until I realized it wasn’t That Torres. 😛

Hello, Lee and Satan. Howdy? Bondex, I hope you are feeling better. 🙂 Is yor wife also a Gooner? Get her to blog, too. 🙂

  83. bondex says:

agag..wife doesnt even know when we score…she supports AFC just because i do..(well she screams when i scream )

  84. bondex says:

doesnt she love me?she consoles me when we loose….sometime she asks me why i keep supporting AFC.to her we dont win anything.I find it hard to convince her.

I had you in mind when I wrote the heading agag, as did Kev 😉

Your wife screams when you do bondex, should you be sharing that 😉

  86. allezkev says:

    Good points Scott 12.51….

Methinks the drop in season ticket sales may have kicked some arse?!
But the Spanish market is definately worth investigating…

  87. agirlagunner says:

Ahaha; I’m such an easy target for anything Torres-y! 😛

Boo, AK; you and rico are being cheeky today, eh?

Bondex, at least she’s not a Spuddie. That’s a start. 😀 You’ll manage to convince her, yet!! 🙂

  88. Micko says:

Kev, the two guys I sit next to didn’t renew this year, didn’t think they weren’t getting value for money and that the money would be better spent on a family hoilday, that’s what the ticket equates to in the real world.

  89. agirlagunner says:

Alan, took it much more seriously than I did, Micko. 🙂 🙂 Did ou renew, Micko?

You should play one of your vids, alan. 😀 😀

  90. rico says:

Shame the club didn’t take that into consideration Micko…

alan got so cross, he suggested we sell Jack Wilshere soon after….

  91. Micko says:

I did Agag, I share mine with a friend, I only done 10 games last season and that included a couple of champions league matches and Fulham away, it does get a bit pricey.

  92. southyorkshiregunner says:

Cazorla. A 4-year contract with Arsenal according to Malaga’s local paper.
    Now Toulalan wants out ….

  93. southyorkshiregunner says:

If you want the low down on Sheffield Wednesday – the Sheffield Star is the paper …. If you want the up to date news on Leeds – the Yorkshire Post is the paper …. Same over in Torremolinos…

The London Evening Standard is a lot more newsworthy paper with James Olley as a reporter than the back pages of the general broadsheets as 90% of them speculate via the blogs and integrate the odd quote….

    http://www.mundodeportivo.com/20120801/malaga/toulalan-amenaza-malaga-cazorla_54331420322.html

  94. agirlagunner says:

With the number of games you are able to see, that is pricey, Micko. 😯

I hope Cazorla is really on his way to London for a medical. 😉

  95. southyorkshiregunner says:

No news on M’Vila, Rico… and I scoured through all the French papers..

Anyway that’s me done. Off to the local Bangladeshi restaurant…

  96. NashuaGunners says:

Afternoon all and to you Rico.
Interesting Read; the Torres stuff got me on edge.

@SYG, on a serious note, who could you replace Song with in the EPL (no player outside the epl) at the same wages?

Any takers please your comments are welcome…

  97. allezkev says:

Well done Mick, I saw about a dozen myself.
Should never underestimate the effect of hitting the club in it’s pocket…
Always certain to shake the Board out of it’s inertia.

Hey Agag, did you like our little Torresie joke. 😀

I propose that SYG becomes the official HH Spanish Liga Correspondant…
    Great news
Now let’s get Sahin, M’Vila and Shaw
    Rock ‘n Roll.. 😛

  98. NashuaGunners says:

@SYG, sorry mate just miss you. I was really hoping I get your opinion. enjoy the rest of your evening.

  99. southyorkshiregunner says:

M’Vila will be on less than Song, Nash
Martinez will be on less than Song …
Toulalan will probably on less than Song…

and Alonso @ 33/1 to join us via SkyBet- is one of Arteta’s best mates – they grew up together on the same street in San Sebastian…….

If I had time I’d make you a list

  100. allezkev says:

What about Sheffield United & Rotherham SYG…?
    Enjoy your ruby geezer.
Hi Nasher, no doubt Stanley won’t be far behind, him and his ‘long johns’…

  101. allezkev says:

    How old is Alonso…?
Still top quality, the one that got away!
Would love to see him alongside Arteta

  102. NashuaGunners says:

    Hi Kev.

Syg, I was thinking at the current crops in the EPL. With M’Villa and Martinez, I beg to differ.

  103. Satan to Saint says:

Sorry Rico, went off to see olympics badminton. The gal had so much power in her smashes. I love sports gals. Been a big fan of our own Ellen White.

Btw, look at SAF’s pet managers who always put their teams to lose against United. Big Sam, Tony Pulis, Mcleish, Grant et al. They gift United points on silver plate and when we play them they come out and try to break our player’s legs. I think every season United gets 18 free points from them.

  104. Satan to Saint says:

    Nash:

A MF consisting of MA/MF and Rambo/Rosicky will run riots. Fellaini is a real good player.

  105. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning guys.
On Jack,we read about young players joining our club because Wenger gives them their chance, and now people are knocking him for over playing Jack?
Are these the same people that booed Wenger for replacing Ox?
Ox,a potentially world class player who has openly stated he loves our style of football, and knows he will get his chance here.
If we don’t play him and try to protect him,he may crack it and want to leave.
If we do play him,the risk of injury increases.
Im sorry, but it seems people want it both ways,as do players.
Keep in mind Jacks injury was a reccurrence of an old one,not a new injury.
Jack will be back, and back to is best,as long as he’s not rushed.
Better a month too late than a day too soon.

  106. Satan to Saint says:

    Morning Scott:

Jacky boy will be back and he’ll be our engine room again. For me he’s new Viera. Gutsy, smart, leader and can’t stand losing.

But for this season lets get a back up plan. Sahin for that matter sounds great to me.

  107. goonster says:

carzola!!!!!!!!!!!!!! somebody pinch me hard! scratch stick needles into my eyelids! we ve carzola!!!!!!!!

  108. Scott from Oz says:

    Fingers crossed.
How good has our business been so far if this comes off?
12 months ago, who’d have thought we’d be bringing in 3 players of the quality of Giroud,Podolski and Cazorla??
    Brilliant.

  109. devilgunner says:

I think that what AW has been saying all along is being felt by the clubs now.

I am laughing my ass off having read that now Kolo Toure does not want to leave shitty. Why would he. He is on around 180kpw. And having a year on his contract he knows that he will still sign a lucrative contract with another club when it finishes.

  110. Satan to Saint says:

    Scott/Devil:

Have you seen him play? If yes what you make of him? Would he survive PL leg breakers?

Btw, Ramsey doing awesome for GB against Uruguay. So, far best Brit in the tournament. I’d be gutted he’d miss out on the start of season.

  111. devilgunner says:

Likewise Scott. Yennaris, Coquelin, Frimpong and Afobe are firmly becoming favourites of mine from the academy.

  112. devilgunner says:

Yes. But there is Eisweld also. And I feel that he is a carbon copy of Cesc both technically and tactically.

What about this line up in a few years time……….

    Chesney
    Yennaris, Miguel, Bartley,Gibbs
    Coquelin, Frimpong,
    Walcott,Eisweld, Chamberlain
    Afobe

  113. devilgunner says:

Seems as if there is a happy chappy who has learned a word and is repeating it until he gets himself hoarse.

  114. Scott from Oz says:

    No room for Jack,Devil??
Eisfeld could end up Wengers best ever business.
    Big call,I know.
Satan,I reckon it’s impossible to say how any player will handle the PL.

  115. goonster says:

now am done, hi guys, carzola on his way huh? alright guys the ass kissing begins. who first? devil?

  116. Satan to Saint says:

Well I’d have few changes Jack in place of Le Coq and Rambo/Eisfeild.

I really hope they stick together for years and win lots and lots.

Btw, we have good subs for them as well.
Olsson, Gnabry, Toral, Jenks, Angha, Joel Campbell,Ryo,Aneke, Martinez.

    Did I miss anyone?

  117. NashuaGunners says:

@S2S, of course Fallaini is a good player and that why is playing for Everton and Belgium. But, is he better than what we get? Song is around $60 to $70 a week, would M’Villa or Martinez from Balboa accept such wages?

My question again, what player is better than Song in the EPL that is on the same wages with Song?

  118. Satan to Saint says:

Scott still. If he plays well and we are doing great then SAF will ask his puppets TP and SA to unleash their assassins. Do you think he can handle that?

  119. devilgunner says:

Scott…….I would like to put Wilshere there, however his outlook looks bleak mate. I do not think he will be the same.

TBH I can see AFC with a full complement of 11 starters plus 7 subs all hailing from the academy itself.

Is he excited you ask Goonie???

Of course he is……..he is the happy chappy in need of a nappy due to wetting himself over and over and over and over again.

  120. Satan to Saint says:

    @Nash:

I think MF is on lower wages then Song. MA was their highest paid player and that is why they were happy to get him off their books and make way for others. On the other hand I think we offer some of the highest wages in the world and only few clubs in the world out do us. Fiorentina backed off from Chamakh cause of his wages. So would many others. I think if M’villa comes to AFC then he’d make double of what he might be making. Giroud already got his salary trebled. So I don’t think he’d mind coming to us. Don’t know about Martinez though.

  121. devilgunner says:

It happens even in the Olympics………..

he eight badminton players from South Korea, China and Indonesia at the centre of allegations of throwing matches in the women’s doubles have been disqualified from the Olympics.

In scenes of farce at Wembley Arena on Tuesday evening, the top seeds from China, two from South Korea and another from Indonesia seemed to want to lose in an attempt to manipulate the draw.

But an appeal from South Korea over the expulsion of two pairs from the London 2012 women’s doubles competition has been rejected.

The Badminton World Federation also announced that Indonesia withdrew an appeal against their disqualification.

The Chinese top seeds, the two pairs from South Korea and the one from Indonesia deliberately played to lose in an attempt to manipulate the quarter-final draw at Wembley Arena last night, it has been claimed.

All eight players had been charged by the Badminton World Federation/BWF with ‘not using one’s best efforts to win a match’ and ‘conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport’.

Former British badminton star Gail Emms earlier led calls for the four women’s pairs to be kicked out of the Games after a series of deliberate attempts to lose their matches.

She also claimed the referee had been warned before the matches that something ‘dodgy’ could happen, but the concerns were dismissed.

Emms, who won Olympic silver with Nathan Robertson in the mixed doubles in Athens in 2004, was outraged by the conduct and told BBC Radio Five Live: ‘This is the Olympic Games, if badminton wants to save face I personally feel they should disqualify the four pairs and re-instate the pairs who came third and fourth in the group and then have a better competition.

‘You cannot do this in an Olympic Games, this is something that is not acceptable and it just makes not only our sport but the organisers and the poor crowd who had to watch, who pay good money to watch two matches….it was just disgraceful, absolutely disgraceful.

    ‘I would disqualify them.’

Lord Sebastian Coe also expressed his contempt for the behaviour, and described the conduct of the badminton players as ‘depressive’ and ‘unacceptable’ as spectators in the crowd were treated to a farce.

The four pairs had been due to play their last-eight matches in Wednesday evening’s session at Wembley Arena but it is thought the schedule will now be reconstituted.

One possibility would be to allow the pairs who finished third and fourth in the groups behind the banished players to take their places in draw.

The fiasco began when top seeds Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang seemingly tried to engineer defeat against Korea’s Jung Kyung-eun and Kim Ha-na to avoid finishing top of their group.

That would have kept them in the opposite side of the draw to compatriots Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei.

The Koreans responded by apparently trying to lose themselves, before a second pair from their country, Ha Jung-eun and Kim Min-jung, took the retaliation further by failing to play properly against Indonesia’s Meiliana Jauhari and Greysia Polii. In turn, the Indonesians then became involved.

The players were booed off court by an irate crowd during the evening session and the BWF launched an investigation.

Several hours later, they announced charges had been made and a disciplinary hearing would take place in the morning.

It is understood the players were being informed of the decision before it was officially announced.

London 2012 chairman Lord Coe has voiced his sadness at the situation.

When asked his feelings, he said: ‘Depressing. Who wants to sit through something like that?

‘The sadness of it is I was actually at the badminton yesterday and I saw a British competitor narrowly fail to progress but the games were incredibly competitive in front of really large enthusiastic audiences – unacceptable.

‘I know the (BWF) really well and they will take that really seriously. It is unacceptable.’

The decision by the BWF to introduce a group stage rather than hold a straight knockout competition had not been universally popular.

Fears that players could contrive results had even been expressed to tournament referee Thorsten Berg by some teams earlier in the day.

France coach Fabrice Vallet said: ‘By deciding to organise the tournament with a group section, when you had two doubles pairs of certain countries, it was obvious something like this would happen. It happened.

‘During the team managers’ meeting I think the Australian team manager asked the question about the situation.

‘He was asking for all the matches to be played at the same time to avoid this type of thing.’

Berg himself became involved in the commotion when he entered the court to disqualify the second Korean pair and the Indonesians but retracted his decision.

The BWF themselves have not had an auspicious Olympics having upset several players on the eve of competition by making wholesale revisions to the playing schedule.

It transpired the governing body had not followed their own regulations for arranging fixtures in group stages.

Pathetic. But as I have been saying over and over again. it happens in the EPL as well.

  122. rico says:

devil – they have all been disqualified and have lost their appeal against it…

    Rightly so too….

  123. devilgunner says:

I saw one of the games. I do not understand badminton or its rules but there were so many mistakes that it was blatant.

But its all sad. You know how much I love sports Rico. I love it for itself and because it keeps one healthy. I play and coach just for the enjoyment of it. Yes it does help financially but not underhand tactics or game fixing. It should not be that way. Unfortunately it is.

  124. Satan to Saint says:

    @Nash

Well in League I think MF is still better than Song. And I guess he’s on lower wages then Song. Other than him I liked looks of Clarke and Bannan of Villa. They both are on much lower wages then him. Clarke is a real multi dimensional player. He play LB, CB and DM. He can come good if played for proper manager.

  125. rico says:

It was shocking devil, so many serves into the net, more than the worst player would do…

It is sad, ruins it for all…and yes, I know you love it, as do so many who would love the chance that those players have had…

  126. Scott from Oz says:

Satan,if we get a tough tackling DM in,we can go after Utds best!
    It’s one reason I’d like TV5 as a DM…..he takes no prisoners.

  127. rico says:

I’m going to depart now, off to watch a programme about Tom Daley and his Dad… I’ll need tissues….

Nighty all, stay safe and here’s to Santi passing a medical tomorrow…

    ‘Til tomorrow….

  128. Satan to Saint says:

You know the only other team with real academy is Villa for me. They also have so many kids coming through. I remember only 4 names. Clarke, Bannan, Albrighton(Who I love to watch, pacy, tricky can pass, cross and shoot. The way he drops his shoulder and crosses is joy to watch. I really hoped we get him but I guess he’s not that good after all. But one of my favorite player in the league), Lichaj.

Remember when Villa thrashed our Reserves 10-1:??

  129. devilgunner says:

Scott that is why I always vouch for Capoue. He is a monster tackler plus he had good technical level. Better than M’Vila IMO.

Rico….the thing is that those who genuinely love sports like me and some others I know always end up being crocked or cannot make it to the top due to many reasons. and when I see that such things done by people who should be thankful for all the fortune they have I do feel hurt.

  130. Scott from Oz says:

Devil, athletes must have it drilled into them that the integrity of their sport comes first, success MUST be second.
It is why I love Arsenal philosophy, both on and off the field.
It is why I detest Citeh and the like.
It is why Football will never be as big in Australia as it should be….Aussies LOATHE divers/cheats.
To win is great,to win with honesty and integrity is paramount.
Too many sportsmen and women forget this.
I’d rather my greyhound run second than win drugged to the eyeballs.
I’d rather Arsenal run 3rd than to sell our arses and souls and win.
There MUST be more to sports than winning.
Unfortunately, and yes,I will say it,teams and countries such as China think success is the only important thing!!!
No matteR what the cost is to the sport or the athlete,a gold medal is the only thing that matters.
Luckily, what I love about sport outweighs what I hate about it,and there are enough honest people plying their trade to allow idealists like me to keep the faith.

  131. allezkev says:

The Reserves lost 2-1 at Dartford.
Bartley, Eisfeld, Aneke, Yennaris, Eastmond, Miquel & Henderson all in the starting XI.
That’ll be a reality check for these lads after touring with the 1st team.
Maybe it’ll do them good and make them realise they’ve not cracked it yet!!!

  132. rico says:

No Lee, not now – only enough to order a beer and saying good morning, good night and how are you…

But have to spell check those 😉

  133. Lee says:

No Rico, I can get by…just but once ordered 4 prostitutes thinking I was ordering 4 small beers! 😆
