Wenger plans shock move for Casillas? Rosicky shines & Clumsy Merts nearly costs us dear….

Morning all,

Arsenal could make a shock move for Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas this summer.

Yep, that’s in The Star as is Arsenal linked with Marseille’s Cameroon international defender Nicola N’Koulou.

Anyway, back to yesterday and how the heck did we win that match in the end?

After the game Arsene Wenger said:

Tomas was fantastic. He is an important player for us. Unfortunately he was out injured for a long time.

But every year he gives us a push at the end of the season. I hope he finishes his career with us. I rate him that highly.

Funny really though isn’t it, the manager thinks so highly of Tomas Rosicky, yet most fans, me included have suggested he should be on the summer ‘for sale’ list.

Well, I think I was very wrong to even think that and no, not because of his two goals and a goal line clearance yesterday.

A couple of seasons ago, Wenger signed Yossi Benayoun on loan, he was 30 years old at the time and most were chuffed as he brought experience to our squad. Many fans wanted him to stay for another season, but it wasn’t to be. Tomas Rosicky is the same age, he’s an old head in an Arsenal shirt and watching him yesterday reminded us all of what our club means to him.

Maybe Wenger is right, after all, he’s the manager, he sees him day to day.

We may not have many trophy winners in our squad, but we do have one or two experienced ‘fringe’ players who can, and will, put in a great performance for the good of the club and yesterday Tomas Rosicky did just that.

I thought Arsene Wenger was holding him back to keep him fit for sale, now I believe he was keeping him fit for the fight for top four…

As already said, Rosicky scored two good goals yesterday, Ramsey should have scored what would have been a goal worthy of Goal of the season but his toe poke went wide and we had a few other chances which went begging.

At 2-0 we were reasonably comfortable but then Per Mertesacker got caught too far up the pitch, he managed to get back but his clumsy tackle brought down Shane Long in the penalty area.

Webb not only awarded West Brom a spot kick, but he sent our big man off to have an early bath. James Morrison stepped up and despite failing to hit it cleanly, he managed to sneak through Fabianski’s legs. Fabianski won’t be happy that that penalty got by him, well he certainly shouldn’t be.

West Brom battered us in the final twenty minutes McAuley and Romelu Lukaku were just two players that had good chances to grab their side a point.

Giroud had a chance to put the game beyond doubt but he dragged his shot wide.

Mind you, at that stage of the game, I’d have headed off towards the corner flag…..

All in all, a good day at the office and we move up one place into 4th.

Isn’t that what we all asked for?

Now let’s hope results go our way later today…..

Have a good day all…..

Great 3 points yesterday, even if not a great performance. Nothing wrong with the spirit of the team now. That comes from winning matches.
Mertersaker keeps making the same mistakes.
If Wenger is brave enough he should be looking to replace Mertersaker, Podolski and Giroud for next season.Top Managers have to be ruthless in their decision making.

  2. Adam says:

Morning Rico and Scott-again. Good, perceptive post. Tomas had a significant game yesterday for sure. It’s his fitness and availability for games that has always been his problem, even before Arsenal bought him. Yesterday was an important win but we are desperate (screaming out) for a dangerous striker. One swallow does not a summer make.

Thanks for the earlier comment Scott. 🙂 – if you knew Tottenham High Road it would have been even funnier. What a complete dump, populated by half-human, mutants and zombies, all existing on greasy fried chicken that they discarding the street after pushing it in the general area of their mouth.

  3. Lee says:

Morning all……good win by the boys yesterday! A draw at shite hart lane would round the weekend off nicely! Great to see stoke lose hopefully they’ll get relegated!

  4. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
    Great result.
    Great, tough, gritty performance.
Well, til Merts got sent off, we were cruising.
Martin, i could not possibly disagree with someone so much.
Those three are players we can ill afford to lose.
I really do not understand where you came up with that list while ignoring so many who really should be out, but each to their own i guess.

  5. rico says:

    Agree MW. Great 3 points..

I thought we’d blown it once Merts got sent off as there was a long time left on the clock. Some last ditch clearances and a good few shots off target from the Baggies and we made it..

We got lucky i’d say, but then you build your own luck so credit to the spirit they showed at the end…

Fabianski and Merts stood out for the wrong reasons in my opinion..

  6. rico says:

Morning Lee, Adam and Scott again 😉

Definitely need a striker Adam, and the standard of striker we need will cost money..

Which is why we need this CL money 😉

  7. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i thought Merts was good, and he had to make that split second decision.
Right or wrong…i am still not sure, and that is with the benefit of hindsight.
Fabianski was brilliant in parts, and very scrappy in others, but hey, he conceded a penalty only and was unlucky with that one.
He did make some terrific saves.
He also has a long way to go to get where he needs to be.
Ramsey was obviously the man of the match, and unlucky the ball swerved through the air of his boot 🙂
    Nah, he scuffed it.
Other than that, he was good though.
    Nacho……flying under the radar maybe??
He is a superstar…i really believe that.

  8. Adam says:

I believe it is a no-go area for anybody who can read or chew or whose knuckles do not touch the floor while they are in an upright position Scott. Pictures will probably have to suffice. 🙂

  9. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i am glad we are getting some recognition…it was a very UNLIKE Arsenal performance in that last 20 minutes.
Replay in an our…bring it on.
Of course,i will change channels at the 72nd minute mark 🙂

  10. rico says:

Merts was too far up the pitch imho Scott and his panic to get back etc cause the daft tackle.

But not saying he was bad all game, he wasn’t but when he’s so slow, he needs to be the last defender not ahead of Kos..

Fabianski made a few gaffs on crosses too, and he really should have stopped that spot kick. Also, a couple of times he just stood, watched and hoped the ball went wide. Thankfully it did… 😉

  11. rico says:

Interesting from one reporter on their.

He suggests we tried to sign Begovic but couldn’t get a deal done. He is very very confident that the player will move to Chelsea in the summer.

  12. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i reckon you are not paying enough credit to the ball that caught our backs out, but you know i am soft lol.

  13. Scott from Oz says:

Fabianski stood and watched shots that were just gone.
    Nothing he could do.
    You are harsh 🙂

  14. Adam says:

I saw that Rico. But I believe that the reporter who said it has vampiric tendencies. Take a look at his skeletal cranium and sunken eyes. Classic signs that the undead walk among us and have infiltrated the football press.

  15. rico says:

Nice to see Fergie’s two horse both pulled up in the National yesterday.

Wonder if the FA fixed the match this weekend so not to interfere with his day yesterday??

  16. shaggy says:

Problem here the Article ! firstly he says he is an Arsenal Supporter and secondly knows very little about football and to read the star well enough said ???
Rosicky is quality always has been and always will be !! Missing SO MANY GAMES during his time here but still being ABLE to show why he was brought all that time ago… Just a shame he can’t stay injury free…
I bellie laugh when i read crap like this !!
Calll yourselves suppporters jokers more like !!
All i have heard is how Wenger should leave the team sold and new manager AND TEAM !! get rid of our youth system as it only produces youth not top big name stars etc !!
Every year the same so called Arsenal supporters slag the same people the same club !!
just makes you think maybe the either arent supporters of the Great Arsenal or like a few of our players in the past and recently have no morals or loyalty !! i personally think yuou should go support and slag another team off !! maybe go support the Spuds !! then you can moan every week and every year !! you would be hapy then !!! load of crap anyone to say they support arsenaland then to slag them off just simply does not support them in the first place !! joker

  17. IrishItaliangooner says:

@Martin. First reply to this. Why Podolski! He’s done nothing wrong this season. If he’d been on ahead of Giroud he’d have got many goals. But AW is a stubborn fucker.

  18. rico says:

No chance Scott, it was a simple over the top ball, the kind that often catches us out…

Not harsh, just say what I see 🙂

Adam, that same man has just torn Qpr to shreds 😛

  19. frednerk says:

    Morning All
Great win,and thats what counts at this stage of the season.
But we need to improve on that to beat the mancs and the toffees at home.
Before the BFG got sent off we were giving the ball away in second gear, game won I think a few were thinking.

BFG ball watching,3 point turns to look round, letting the player run in and round him,
these are defending basic’s,if you lack a yard you don’t want a level sprint.
I like the german on the ball he has a calmnest about him,
    but man marking,
now thats a different kettle of fish.
    Steve B sort him out.

  20. rico says:

Oh dear shaggy, your parents removed the control on your computer this morning??

You obviously don’t read HH much, otherwise you would know I just pass the gossip on from ‘Papertalk’ – one doesn’t actually need to read a paper to find all that out…

And who is slating the manager, team, youth system and all the other crap you have written??

No-one and as for your Spurs swipe, maybe they would like your support??

  21. rico says:

    Welcome IrishItalian and Chomba..

Agree re Podolski, no way would I like to see him go, I just don’t think he’s 100% fit…

Or he’s in the naughty corner 😉

  22. ozgunner10 says:

afternoon all – we have seen all our defenders beaten like this over recent weeks – last week it was Monreal who forgot who he was marking – mertz has done ok lately and can be forgiven for one bad challenge in my book – Rosicky was huge, clearing off the line at one end while scoring at the other. Bundle of energy as well.

  23. frednerk says:

    Not talking about the challenge..oz
    basic defending,
we need someone in this team with a bit of no-how.

  24. rico says:

Hi fred, if it was a one off I’d forgive him, but it’s a repetitive problem which Bould needs to workon..

Is Merts out for three games or just the one?

  25. Audu @elfab Nurudeen says:

Dear Highbury house, you have been doin a wonderful job with your posts,it is my one arsenal blog…so keep up the good job,and pls kindly update d scores to the blog‘s 2012/2013 domestic fixtures and also the section for BACK OF THE NET(i.e our goalscorers) tanx your ardent reader and a big fan of ur write up.@elfab you can all follow me on twitter its keep the gunners nation alive.

  26. emma says:

    Good morning fellow gunners,

The team showed great spirit in the last 20mins of the match to secure the 3pts yesterday just like v Sunderland.

We are now seeing the Gervinho I saw playing for Lille. Long may that continue. It will be difficult for TW14 to get his place back in the first team. He will have to fight to earn his place as he was already out of form before his injury. Giroud works hard for the team but we need more than that in our attack. We need someone who can hold the ball up, dribbles when on one on one(skillful) not giving the ball away so easily. Like rico pointed out, he should have taken the ball to the corner flag instead of shooting. Mertesacker was exposed yesterday for his lack of pace. I hope TV has gotten over his low mentality, poor positional sense and step into the shoes v Norwich. My unsong hero yesterday was Koscielny(best CB we currently have)

  27. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

A great win for the boys… Ak, is still recovering I gather… lol

Fingers crossed the scums lose because they are suffering from the welsh mutant Bale. Him and Messi share the same Dna… 😉

  28. tsgh says:

How many fans have seen Poldi09 play as a lone striker before?

As AW rightly said last September, all his 105 odd caps for the Germans came at LW…

I am glad Arsenal fans are beginning to appreciate the Monreal… when we were signing him on 31st August I mentioned on here to SYG that he was considered the 2nd best LB in the world… the media were skeptical because he was not known by the sports journo’s who are meant to be experts…

  29. mrkaos says:

people who think the BFG cant defend are deluluded u dont get a many international caps for a country like germany if ucant do basic defending he just lacks pace otherwise a very good defender i also think shaggy has a point to many maoanig arsenal fans gets a bit boring we all have had our moan due to some failings within the club which was valid but now i just see wild accusations for certain players to leave riddicuous!!! COYG

  30. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Wow, what a weekend of sport for me. All my teams won & The Arsenal was the icing on the cake. Lil’ Mozart was supurb. I guess his freshness along with him getting cherry ripe from every minute on the pitch will be a big help in the run in.

    COYRRR

  31. Charlie G says:

Rosicky has another year in his contract which was signed last year. Hope he stays as he is there at the end of the season to give the team a much needed boost. Also he could act as the mentor to Gnarry who should be on the first team fringe next season.
Giroud imo, is only good enough as a sub. He is too one pace, no real burst of speed. And, decision making suspect. Hope we buy a real classy striker for next season.
Fabianski is playing for his rice bowl, but, imo, again he can only be a good backup.

  32. Adam says:

Actually Rico, as I was busy yesterday I had to give Mrs Adam directions to the kitchen to prepare an evening meal. It included a splendid mash and some crispy roast parsnips plus something else that I won’t mention. I opened a bottle of Cloudy Bay in celebration and even let her do the washing up too. Normal service will be resumed today I imagine though as the whole experience has left her traumatised. 🙂

No Poldi at CF for I am afraid.

  33. rico says:

    Hi Ts, emma and GG..

Kos is doing well emma, the fact none of us are talking about him says it all.

Ts – said the same about Pod yesterday, i thought he’d always played down the left.

Audu, I won’t update the scores etc. The last game on the board is our last loss. Since then we are on a good run so I am not tempting fate 😉

  34. rico says:

GG, same when JW and TW come back, if of course they can get in this current side 😉

Charlie G, Striker, GK, CH and HM/DM for me and we are there…

  35. Adam says:

Kos is doing well. If only he would stop his pirouetting clearances where he anchors himself while perching ballerina-like and wildly swinging a boot in the general direction of the ball, I would like him even more.

  36. rico says:

I must pop off for an hour or so now, things to be doing in the garden whilst the sun is shining…

    Catch up later…

  37. tsGH says:

come on Shaggy… i am not sure what article/post you read on here but…. we welcome all here with valid and matured opinions…

  38. Adam says:

Shaggy. I believe that any comedy this morning has been supplied by yourself in your car-crash assault on the English language of 10.19am.

  39. Xr!s says:

I believe Fabianski didn’t get to those crosses because of the sun. Some players didn’t get to some high balls because of it. The pitch,I think was slippery. I was down when Fabianski complained about his ribs shortly before half time. Happy Sunday to You all

  40. southyorkshiregunner says:

Fantastic win. Coasting until the sending off. Rosicky took both his goals very well. BRILLIANT. Goal conceded – a penalty.

Level on GD with Chelsea (scored more goals) …. Tottenham are one point in front of us -12 on goal difference ….

….With Di Canio installed as manager, Sunderland may well give Chelsea a very good run for their money … 0-0 isn’t out of the question.
….same goes for Everton with Tottenham. A 0-0 or a 1-1 would be an acceptable result. A 0-1 would be awesome.
A pair of 0-1’s would be more awesome than awesome ……

Maybe by the end of play there will be only one point between all three teams????

Like Rico said … Man Utd pick up thee points like this a lot off the time …
….The only downside is as ever is that Arsene Wenger will say “I TOLD YOU SO” and that this team are first class.

  41. Scott from Oz says:

And you call yourself a Journalist Adam!
To use the words English language and Shaggy in the same sentence is a crime.
That includes both our fellow Gooner and that sad attempt at a singer.
Actually, if you add some music to the 10.19 post, it could well be they are one in the same 🙂

  42. Scott from Oz says:

Just watching the replay, and we are committing those niggly, grubby fouls that so many sides use on us.
    We are finally learning 🙂

  43. ozgunner10 says:

syg – massive game for Spurs this one and with three 3 players missing who knows – if they win it well… hats off to them but i can see Everton doing ok here, although their star is missing also – don’t see Sunderland bothering Chelsea unless fatigue sets in – if they are still in it late on, who knows

  44. Scott from Oz says:

Guys, my bottle of Jamiesons is doing its best to keep me company, but it’s a struggle.
    Where are you??

  45. Scott from Oz says:

With the benefit of hindsight and Irish Whisky, i realise Foster had a terrific game and saved a few very good shots on target.

  46. Scott from Oz says:

I really like Giroud, but when he gets injured, what is the go with his hand gestures?
Flappy handski…more like Flappy bloody Giroud!!

  47. ozgunner10 says:

Hello mate – all good here, forgot about the one hour time change, nearly late for the game – a good scrappy win, again new recruits positions highlighted but happy with those points mate – very pleased for Rosicky, he really adds something to the side with his constant motion and very good technique

  48. Scott from Oz says:

    We all love Tommy.
No doubt he brings some positive things to the table when fit.
I may find a positive where possible, but i know we need some new lads on to challenge.
    Just a few.
    DM..definitely.
    Keepers…i am happy.
I reckon give these guys one more season to prove themselves….the talent is there, and i maintain they are better than most think, especially when compared to others in the PL.
    Striker….yes.
I love Giroud, but reckon he is a work in progress and lethal v some sides.
Against others, we need someone smaller, quicker and more skillful.
I still say we are not far off challenging.

  49. Scott from Oz says:

Again, watching the replay shows just how close Ramsey was to my predicted hat trick.
    3 goals shy….that is all!!

  50. tsgh says:

    Hi Scott, Oz and SYG…

My only concern which I posted yesterday too is that the chavs have beaten us 2 times this season… if it comes to head to head and the goal difference is not in our favour they will qualify…

We need to start killing games… OG12 has hard a decent run but time for Poldi the Mozart to spearhead our attack

  51. tsgh says:

Scott in the head and work rate we are far from competing… 😉

Skill wise we have that in abundance… but even at the u-19 level only 5/6 players work hard off the ball the rest are maradona’s in their heads…..

  52. Scott from Oz says:

He has been in some games….not necessarily with goals though….he sets plenty up directly and indirectly, i reckon.
    He will get better.
Ginge, i agree on Podolski…he is our most LETHAL finisher..that was for you Oz 🙂
I am very confident (surprise, surprise) that points won’t be an issue mate!!

  53. tsgh says:

Has anyone seen the tweet Bieber sent to the boy Poldi…? I am still waiting for Poldi’s single to drop…. 😀

  54. tsgh says:

Stats and history show that with 5 games to go will we freeze for a game or 2… ;)I hope not this season

  55. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, it only takes one or two “winners” coming in two change the mindset of the squad though.
Imagine a Bergkamp at his best coming in right now.
    Every player would lift.
Easier said that done, but i reckon we are closer than most think.
Wath will tell you i am wrong though 🙂

  56. southyorkshiregunner says:

Scotty – During the 91-92 season me and my mate – he’s a LUFC fan who now works in Leeds as a Manager for Yorkshire housing, but back then he was in the army at Dover … so to keep in touch via post we used to bet on results of the 1st Division and give ourselves pts for correct result, correct score, home win away win, draw etc …….. We also used to discuss who would be the “realistic” signings we would make for our respective teams – flogging players and having around £5M to spend ….. a bit like Fantasy football but not as far fetched and stupid …
…My first pick was always Dennis Bergkamp … remember this was 1992 …… little did I know that within 4 years we would have him in our side ……..
…. My mate’s first pick was …… Colin Cooper from Millwall …. he even wrote to Howard Wilkinson about it …

  57. Scott from Oz says:

    What tweet guys??
SYG, we really did assemble a great squad full of overseas players and set the standard for modern day clubs.

  58. southyorkshiregunner says:

I’m sound Ozzie. Working at the moment……. big gas transportation pipeline planned between Selby and the North Sea… trying to find out how many tunnels form a part of it …..

  59. W.A.T.H says:

Scott -12:40…. you don’t need me to tell you your wrong mate you already know the answer to that 😉
Seems your enjoying that bottle to much fella…. Good day to one and all…!

  60. W.A.T.H says:

Bobby 12;36…. I think you can discuss your comment with Scott but needless to say I think liability is way over the top… Aaron was involved in nearly everything that was good yesterday and the boy is also starting to fly into tackles again…. Lot of work off the ball people totally miss but then again fans have favourites and if they don’t like a player tend to see no good in them what so ever…!

  61. southyorkshiregunner says:

The 2002 side was a fantastic side …… that preseason we signed Campbell, Van Bronckhurst,Wright and Jeffers .. And we won the double …

Its a pity we had to start dismantling the side the year after due to the stadium move…. Van Bronckhurst was bought for about £8M and suddenly offloaded on a loan to Barca ….. He and Edu were valid replacements for Petit, who we had missed immensley the season prior …. Edu was bought earlier but had to delay his debut due to legal stuff and injuries …

  62. southyorkshiregunner says:

A lot of people singing the praises of Ramsey across the web…. Great to hear.
It does help if a player is played in his correct position.

  63. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hello Adam – sound up in South Yorkshire to. The sun was out at 7.30 when I took the hounds out ….

  64. Scott from Oz says:

    Wath,
My 1.09 did not quite have the desired effect, but the highlighted letters were supposed to say something lol.
Bobby….you are totally entitled to an opinion, and are more than entitled to be WRONG 🙂

  65. W.A.T.H says:

I knew you knew I was watching Scott 😉
Hi Ts how you mate… All good I hope…! It is indeed a nice day Adam sun is shining and…………. wine is flowing…!

  66. Scott from Oz says:

    How good is Monreal guys????
Dare i suggest he is world class, or at least will be soon??
    He is awesome.

  67. tsgh says:

I always believed in Ramsey… tactically he is as sound as Arteta, Cpl Jenkinson,BFG in our team. The problem with our team is that we have skilful players without off the ball tactical awareness like AA23, TW14 and SC19. The rest are lazy or don’t put in a shift consistently e.g Poldi, Le Coq, Gibbs etc

  68. tsgh says:

SYG I heard you were the immigration officer who spotted the fake EU passport Edu was carrying… lol

Of course Van Bronckhurst was a cheaper version on Cocu… imho… AW and DD plan B from the scottish league…

  69. tsgh says:

Harry a git… t hat is a first… I thought he was deemed the one who would have made us win the WC in brazil until the FA brought in the old geezer playing 4-4-2…

  70. W.A.T.H says:

You know me Ts….. if it’s liquid I’ll drink it…!

Scott I am sure it was me that told you about Ramsey being good… it was in one of your 2Scott’s moments…!

  71. stevepalmer1 says:

    Afternoon all, Nice one Rico.
The team worked hard yesterday and deserved the three points Rosiski and Gervinho both did good work. Pretty good i felt for the amount of play they have seen of late. We are on course for our usual finishing position, and if we should pull it off and make 4th spot i doubt anything will change much. I have my name down on the season ticket waiting list but if i was offered one tomorow i would have to decline. I would not invest my hard earned money into a club who’e only ambition is for top 4. Remarkable as it is it is still not enough for me.

  72. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, a mate bought a Pascal…reckons it will be worth something when the bastard dies 🙂

  73. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Lol Ginge

I thought Edu was a cracking player ….. The only downside to his play was that he wasn’t the quickest …. Still, he was 3000% quicker that Arsenal’s two slowest “individuals” Coquelin and Usmanov …

Premier League Player of the month February 2004 ..

  74. southyorkshiregunner says:

Wenger’s bought more turds than Tavlaridis, Pascal Cygan and Inamoto in his tenure …… I could add another thirty-odd to that list …. we are still paying a load of ’em now ….

You read his page on Wikipedia, Ginge? “Tavlaridis has only managed to play twice for the Greek national football team having fallen out of favor with coach Otto Rehhagel as well as Akis Zikos, Ieroklis Stoltidis, Grigoris Georgatos, Nikos Lyberopoulos and Vassilis Tsartas. He has not been featured in the squad since 2005”

He’s got more enemies than me !

  75. W.A.T.H says:

Am with you SYG, I thought Edu was a top top player…!

Scott… how rude of you lol 😀 Truth hurts I can sense it…..

  76. stevepalmer1 says:

When Arsenal find the same conviction to all of the tournaments that they show for the top four position, is when i know that the team stand a chance. Wenger has one last window, i expect the same as the last twenty but who knows i may be wrong.

  77. agirlagunner says:

Boo! I still have a smile on my face, rico. 🙂 🙂

I was happily surprised by last night’s “performers”. 🙂

    Hello, all!!

  78. ozgunner10 says:

i hear ya sp1 – agree with both posts – this has been a poor season including a predicted title charge that was over way to early again. Showing a bit of fight to get into the four should not be regarded as the success you know Wenger will claim it to be, come the summer. “We have surprised everyone” i think is becoming his standard line, as is “we are close (forgetting the 21 point gap) and if we find that super player we will buy him”

  79. tsgh says:

Yes Edu and Paulinho… I always found that link interesting because of the 2 party ownership stuff…

Rosicky, Ramsey, Gervinho, Scott. 😀 😀 You know I’m a fan of the first two.

I clicked on that link above re: Bieber. He’s a young(ish) singer who can be only described as a douchebag. 😀

Hiya, SSP, SYG and WATH. 🙂

  81. tsgh says:

Hi Mz Agag… anytime you smile the sun comes out in the UK…

Jeez that is cheesy… I got that from Goonster book sold in soho for 1.99

  82. tsgh says:

Agag… I take it you would not be spotted at a Bieber concert anytime soon.. re 2:08 comment 😀

  83. Wavy says:

If I remember right, both Edu and Gilberto fell out with Wenger, they had the audacity to criticise him publicly. They were, shortly after theirronouncements, history!
If you were suggesting we may have an ‘in’ for Paulino because of Edu’s connection with Arsenal and Wenger, I think we can forget it!
i rated Edu too, he was a very much under-rated footballer, often by his manager! He was, like Gilberto sold far too soon. Neither of them haveever really be replaced, position for position or classfor class. Although Ramsey is beginning to shape up. He is going to be a class act.

  84. NashuaGunners says:

Coquelin is slow, agreed, but Usmanov… still buying his time. The opportunity has not present itself yet. Most businessmen are vultures, and patience is there middle name.

    Good Afternoon folks

  85. southyorkshiregunner says:

I remember Wenger saying that he still kept in contact with Edu when he was a Valencia when talking about the Mestalla prior to our 0-2 friendly versus them a couple of preseasons ago and the fact that he still has nightmares over the John Carew goal in the Champs League ……..
Gilberto left with a heart felt dignity

  86. agirlagunner says:

WATH, I’m not sure I understand what you mean. 😛 I think you have had ten drinks too many. 😀

Ginge, Bieber is young but has the airs of a dirty old man. It’s so creepy. Ick. Did you read about Goonie’s wife?? 🙁 🙁 He was on yesterday.

  87. tsgh says:

Wavy… Edu decided he could not cope with the February weather… he was honest in his 3rd season with us that he would not renew his contract… we had DD and we could not convince him to extend his contract.. 😉

Silva is a different story… he was not rated highly by the Erm crowd as the DM in 2206-2007 season. AW started playing him in central defence were he was superb but he said he was not a defender…

I rememeber a journalist asking AW why he was playing Silva after a very bad performance and AW saying ‘because he was like an invisible wall.He left on very good terms at a reduced price… and guess what he was played in defence in Greece…

  88. allezkev says:

Afternoon Gooners (Hon. Toffees for the day)
Afternoon Rico. Nice post Ms Boss Lady… 😉

    Ah, the BFG question???

Personally, and I would say this, I thought BFG had a good game and was unlucky with his tackle.
Kozzer was in support and it should have been a yellow.
Substitute Rio Ferdinand for BFG and it would be a yellow 100%…. But that’s Fergie’s ‘rent-boy’ for ya…. (Webb).

Fabianski still has problems with the airiel stuff, but his handling was secure.
As for the penalty, he was unlucky, almost saving it with his legs…

Giroud continues to split opinion. On another blog that I was reading last night, when you lot were all in bed, Giroud was being criticised unfairly, to such a degree, that it almost decended into the realms of Le Grove…
God help us if we had lost…

Gervinho had a good game, maybe he performs better away from the Grove?

Ramsey was steady, never stopped working and ably assisted Arteta, who I thought was superb.

    Kozzer was back to best.

If only the home fans could replicate the passion of the away fans?

  89. tsgh says:

1-1 Lloris just had a flappy moment… lol

Hi there Ak re away fans enough said by you there!

Agag- i just read goonster’s news… sad… my prayers are with them both…

  90. Wavy says:

    Tsgh:
I thought his relutance to renew his contract was more about him only being a ‘bit part player’. And rightly he decided to pack his bags and move on. Mind you who wouldn’t move on because of the weather??

  92. tsgh says:

possibly a part Wavy … but he was the Diaby of that era if you can remember…. he only had one good reason after being off the whole of the 2nd season literally…

He went to Spain and got injured in his 3rd month and hardly played for Valencia… 50 games in 4 years come on buddy…

he played 100 games in the same time with us…

  93. agirlagunner says:

Hiya, Kev. 🙂 Howdy?? The away fans were amazing.

SYG, cheeky. 😛 How very goonster-ish, alright. But he had sad news yesterday though. 🙁

  94. W.A.T.H says:

AGAG I’ll have you know a bottle has not touched my lips today…!

Worried about your “last nights performers”….. 😉

AK, How many prawn sandwiches did you have yesterday..?

  95. Wavy says:

Ok point taken re Edu. But………when he was fit he was a class act, at least most of the time!! But granted, the number of games he missed was far too many.
And you were right, I had forgotten.

  96. agirlagunner says:

“… has not touched your lips…YET.” Knowing you, that is more apt, WATH. And everybody likes a performer. 😳

  97. W.A.T.H says:

AGAG wash your mouth out woman…………. lol 😀

I said a bottle had not touched my lips not a glass

  98. ozgunner10 says:

1-1 at sh**e hart lane HT – would do me that score – Liverpool having trouble with fat sams bunch as well 0-0

  99. Scott from Oz says:

Syg, i was going to respond to that, but just can’t remember what i was going to say!!

  100. allezkev says:

A Chicken Balti pie Wath, it was so unhealthy, but oh so delicious. 😉

Hey Shopping Buddy, you would love the away games.
Nothing beats taking 3pts away from your opponants own back-yard.

  101. tsgh says:

”In October the moment of truth starts for the team…Therefore of course, it’s important to be decisive and convincing.” -AW … I guess he was not talking about the last October that passed

I feel, yes, of course [we are in the title race]. Why not?- ha ha ha

  102. tsgh says:

Yes, I will be busy…. our people are looking every where for players… even in the bottom of WATH’s glass… 😀

  103. rico says:

Everton robbed of a free kick, and what could easily been a booking for Vertonghen…

    Just turned on to watch….

  104. ozgunner10 says:

Rico – agree it is actually yes – we’ll have our hands full with Everton, glad we have a good break between games.

  105. allezkev says:

Adam, me ol’ china, how are you?

Last coach trip for me this season buddy, got me tickets for Fulham, not going to QPR (dungheap), whilst Newcastle is too far…

  106. rico says:

    Hi Adam.

Everton are a tidy side Oz, Moyes deserves a lot of credit when you consider what budget he’s been on.

He knows how to find a bargain and get the best from them 😉

  107. ozgunner10 says:

said the same for years Rico – good manager and his side are rarely not up for the battle

  108. Adam says:

Hi Rico. I have been up the garden centre where I met a lovely Cocker hearing dog and a chocolate Labradoodle who gave me a wet nosing.

  109. Scott from Oz says:

Syg, if that is the case, why can’t Suarez and Nasri afford to get their choppers fixed 🙂

  110. rico says:

I think he’s heading to Manure when Fergie retires Oz…

    That sounds lovely Adam… I am envious…

  111. rico says:

Jose is heading back to Chelsea I think Scott…

really good result today, just hope that Sunderland can hold on too now…

  112. ozgunner10 says:

very good result for us definitely – puts spuds destiny in our hands and keeps Everton at distance – just imagine for a minute if Sunderland hold on hahah

  113. southyorkshiregunner says:

    In AUSTRALIA

On the TV Spurs and Everton were playing in fabulous technicolor.
Austroilia had only had color television since 2009 and the neighbours were sat inside Ozzies house squashed together like a tin of sardines on the sofa watching as Heitinga was nearly presented with an excellent chance as Gibson played what was a cunning pass to try and dissect the Tottenham defence, but at the last minute Dawson got back showing good strength to win the ball.
“Strewth,” said Scotty who was an ardent Arsenal fan and knew it was imperative that Everton get the three points. “I feel as nervous as an Abo on a crocodoiles back.”
“Sheila,” shouted Ozzie to his wife. “Go get me and Scotty a few tubes of the old Amber Nectar from out of the ice box down the yard. I’m as parched as Koala up a bonga-bonga tree.”
“I’m with you on that one Cobber,” replied Scott.
“Get a spurt on girl,” snapped Ozzie. “He’ll be frothing like a rabid dingo in the otback.”
Just then Lloris showed his ability, and bravery, and got down to smother the ball at the feet of Jelavic.
    “Tidy save sport,” quipped Ozzie.
“He must be Austroilian Ozzie lad.”
“Who Lloris?” asked Ozzie. “He’s a Frog isn’t he?”
“No. Austroilian,” stated Scott. “Good keeper. He’s from Wollongong.”
    Ozzie said nothing.
Just then Sigurdsson equalised for Tottenham to set up a thrilling finale. Walker set up the chance with a great run down the right before cutting the ball back for Adebayor, who stayed composed and struck the post from 12 yards and Sigurdsson tucked the ball away from close range.
Scott was dumbstruck. So was Ozzie.
“Tim Howard’s not Austroilian,” quipped Scott. “He’s a Yank. An Austrolilian keeper would have saved that.”
“How do you mean?” asked Ozzie.
“Everyone knows Austroilians make the best keepers…..”
    “Like who?” asked Ozzie.
“Bosnich for one ….” said Scott. “A right keeper.”
“Mmmmm he was okayish,” said Ozzie. “Apart from the Hitler salutes and the Cocaine….”
“Gervinho does it and gets away with it,” said Scott.
“Okay,” said Ozzie, “who are the other Austroilian keepers?”
    “Steve Irwin,” said Scott.
    “He’s a bloody Game Keeper, not a goal keeper….”

  114. ozgunner10 says:

definite last roll of the dice for Arry’ today as well – might be to late already. Still if they loose today we can’t start neg’s with Remy early and get it done? 2-1 Chelsea

  115. ozgunner10 says:

2 own goals to put them in front amazing – Remy lets a thunderous shot go and hits the outside of the post – very very good prospect this lad at this level

  116. rico says:

That was a shocker by Zamora…

Syg. I’m thinking Suarez or some of his standards, that’s what this current side lacks up front…

  117. ozgunner10 says:

we could but will we Rico? Are you confident? Who did you have in mind – I think Remy would cost Wenger what 5m maybe, seems like Wenger all over to me

  118. ozgunner10 says:

Liverpool would not sell to us Rico and you can’t blame them – its a big club for him next surely? Amazing quality that is for sure

  119. allezkev says:

    We’re Coming for You
    We’re Coming for Youuuuuu
    Middlesex Hotspurs
    We’re Coming for You…..

    Sing-a-long Oz, 😛

  120. ozgunner10 says:

    We’re Coming for You
    We’re Coming for Youuuuuu
    Middlesex Hotspurs
    We’re Coming for You…..

  121. rico says:

Every club has a price for a player Oz, but I doubt we would have the balls to make such an offer…

You not still singing Shang-a-Lang Kev? 😉

  122. allezkev says:

Hey Adam, you make sure you return that kiss & cuddle… 🙂
Yeah, looking forward to Thursday big style.
Rocky needs a good fling, he’s working too hard.
Lee is still in holiday mode.
Rico is up for a large glass of Cava.
    Happy Days…. 😀

  123. ozgunner10 says:

Benayoun on for Chelsea – well well thought is was in iceland or the antarctic super league or something 🙂

  124. ozgunner10 says:

exciting time of the year hey? for so many fans and so many different reasons – love this game

  125. ozgunner10 says:

must say Chelsea anything but impressive – Sunderland went to a defensive mindset and it cost them – they are no certainties for the 4 IMO – some testing games to come

  126. rico says:

If Usmanov buys out Kroenke, will be become Arseski??

Or are we saved by the fact he was born in Uzbek? 😉

  127. ozgunner10 says:

wouldn’t be the first time lets face it haha – OK gooners, its midnight and i am ready for my bed – see you all tomorrow, thanks for your company

  128. rico says:

Bloomin heck, that finish from Remy was simply awesome…

Yes JM, much better and with a game in hand over the totts still..

Everton game is huge for the top 4

  129. Adam says:

I do love a bit of rubbish Rico. But I would draw the line at Prisoner’s Wives even though I don’t know what it is.

  130. Adam says:

I was hoping Stan might appear. I was shocked at his news yesterday when I caught up late last night.

  131. Adam says:

Agreed. Perhaps HH support might be helpful to him. Sometimes we all need a bit of warm friendship. HH is much more than an Arsenal Blog I think. Maybe more so than any other similar site I have seen. This is, of course, largely down to you Rico.
I like to think that we look after out own, no matter where they be, the best we can.

  132. rico says:

I hope we all can be of help to them both Adam..

Thank you re HH Adam, but you and I both know that it’s down to all of us, this place is lucky to have such a great bunch of folk and from all corners of the world…..

  133. Adam says:

I’ve never been afraid to confront my feminine side Rico. But this dress is a little tight I must say.

  134. rico says:

Let it out at the sides Adam..

    Well said Wath…

Just made me think to ask, did you see Julian Clarey on Saturday Morning Kitchen Adam?

  135. rico says:

    Night Adam, enjoy the movie..

I too am off for the day, off to watch Countryfile….

    Nighty Adam, Wath and all….

  136. Scott from Oz says:

My brother today lost custody of his daughters to his filthy fucking thieving crackhead adulterer alcoholic of an ex.
    Why??
Well, a man hating judge who should rot in fucking hell decided that the mother, regardless of who that scumbag is, is simply always best for her kids.
How the fuck do these judges sleep at night??
Sorry, but just found out and needed to vent.
That description of this skanky bitch is accurate as well….no stretching of the truth at all.

  137. Lee says:

Morning Scott, we’ve just had a case over here where some absolute low-life scumbag deliberately set fire to his house and killed his six kids. The sick plan backfired, he was supposed to rescue them and look a hero…..he will serve 2.5 yrs for each life he took……explain that bollocks?? I’d hang the fucker in a heartbeat!

  138. rico says:

Morning Scott. That is just wrong, what a stupid stupid judge…

Morning Lee… And all for a bigger house! I’d hang the bastard too….

  139. Scott from Oz says:

Lee, this woman has a diagnosed mental issue, and according to the long term family doctor is probably schizophrenic.
She hands a medical certificate from a doctor she saw once on the weekend which was not even bloody signed by him and it is accepted.
She stole between 100 and 200 k from the family business and will almost certainly end up in prison.
These things do not seem to matter.
Howard Webb aint alone in taking under the counter payments i reckon.

  140. Lee says:

Well Rico,I am able to go to the gym but no cardio only upper body weights….the ankle is still swollen, luckily I had a cold shoulder to rest it against all weekend! 😉

  141. rico says:

I certainly don’t understand the sentence Scott, but I doubt he’ll ever get out, they’ll be a few fellow prisoners just waiting to get their hands on him no doubt….

    😆 Lee. You men!!

    Morning Adam
