Wenger off to PSG or is he set to sign Falcao? Same boring tactics against Villa, or will we see something different?

Morning Gooners,

After a week of good feeling from some fans, not all supporters are happy with our lot!

Aston Villa bring their team to the Emirates today, a club who are struggling and fighting a relegation battle.

Every game to them is a cup final, players could see wages take a dip if they cannot save themselves from the Championship. Nothing makes players try harder than a cut in pay and this Villa side who turn up today will be all out to beat. It will be hard, it certainly won’t be a certain three points to the home team!

A fiend of mine, a season ticket holder, offered me his sons ticket for this game as he couldn’t make it, couldn’t or wouldn’t I don’t know but I felt that I couldn’t be bothered to see another dismal display live so I declined the offer. I felt I didn’t want to be there and have to wait till spot on seventy minutes before Wenger decides to either take off our ‘only trying’ players to put on less effective players.

On paper, I would expect us to win this game quite comfortably but which team will turn up?

Will it be the team lacking in confidence, movement, pace and finishing power, or will it be the team that tries in the second half once were 2 down.

Wenger’s tactics have sucked this season, I almost feel that he is happy with the results of late.

I sit there thinking that zonal marking will result in a goal, often it does too and Wenger seems to be blind to the fact that teams are using this as one of their tactics against us.

Villa will press us back, they will try and get stuck in quickly and we will just pass it back then across the park and eventually flapper Szczesny will receive it only to roll it out to BFG, and it all starts again.

Jack will get possession, he will try and head forward but you can feel nobody will give him an outlet. Back it goes again, this time to Santi who will go it alone until he hits the Villa defensive wall and if he isn’t robbed of the ball, no doubt he will pass back also.

If Gervinho should start he will go on a couple of runs his head will be down and he will try and take on the whole Villa team until he also losses it.

Our game is predictable that’s why we get beat so often.

Any team worth their salt will have watched the videos of our previous games and know that most of our passing will be in our own half, they also know that 90% of our shots are off target and the ones that are on target usually are aimed straight at the keeper.

The Villa defence will know that the only forward player that will challenge in the air up front will be Giroud so they will dominate if he is not a starter. They will know that if they rush in on Theo he will pass it backwards and then disappear leaving whoever else is there on his own.

Predictable is the word for Arsenal these days in fact I have to say, I don’t think we have a plan A let alone a plan B.

Arsene will no doubt play one of our centre backs as a left back our best winger as centre forward and a flapper as a goalkeeper. If Villa have a shot on goal look for a forward rushing in to collect the parry as its always down the middle predictable yes we are.

If were lucky we may score the first goal and Villa’s heads will go down quickly.

We could press and go for the second but we will probably be stunned by going ahead so we could be vulnerable straight away. Villa will know that as we are predictable they will know that no matter how the game is going we would not make any changes until the magic 70 minutes so if they do take the lead , they will be aware.

Although I believe we should win this one, it will probably finish as a draw.

Go on Wenger, surprise me. Do something different, try something different, even if it is a substitution at 53 minutes!

Onto some gossip from the papers:

Good old Wenger has gone and done it again with his silly comments!

We can do it (Falcao). If we find a player of top, top quality we will take him.

We are in a stronger situation where we can spend some money. I’m not reluctant to do so. First of all, we only had money recently. We went out to spend money at Christmas but we didn’t find the players.

What utter poppycock, of course there are players out there, many of them and certainly a few who would have strengthened our side.  Just why he bothers to open hi mouth sometimes I don’t know. As for Falcao, well I am sure we’d all love to see him up front but realistically  it just isn’t going to happen. It might of course should Mr Usmanov buys all of Kroenke’s shares but……

Another story, this one suggests that talks have taken place between PSG and our manager. Apparently ex French President, Sarkozy, whose time in power in France ended last year, has been acting as facilitator for his friends at PSG.

Wenger though is having none of it. Well not this summer anyway:

I have never thought about throwing in the towel. I love winning, so I will carry on.  I have a contract until 2014 and I will be here until then. I will make a decision on my future in 2014, not before.

Wenger says he loves winning, well prove it!

Starting today!!!

Have a good day all, only three points will do!

    Morning all…

And Wenger wonders why fans are getting fed up with all the talking…

Anyway, I think you just about sum up my mindset Sp, each time we play I wonder which side will turn up, who will play, if they are playing badly how long will they stay on the pitch…. etc etc……

Oh, and each time the opposition attack I truly fear we will concede…

We need a good solid performance today, a good victory to give the players a bit of a lift before next weekend….

  2. ozgunner10 says:

I also think it is directly related to Wenger poor pre game efforts – i read a piece on one of the BM players on twitter and he was saying they watched Arsenal videos for 4 hours in the build up – Wenger attitude is “we don’t watch the opposition because we play our way” Arrogance plus – All our key losses cole, clichy, Cesc, RVP and so on, have all spoken of the lack of fire in our build ups due to Wenger relaxed ‘not working for 8 years’ approach. Stubborn man who knows better than everyone or so he’d have us believe. How many times do you see us actually ready to play at 1 minute and why is that? Not acceptable and been going on way to long

  3. W.A.T.H says:

Scott you always wrong mate stop talking crap 😉

You know full well Aaron isn’t gonna score a hat-trick it’s going to be Mertesacker…!

    Oh and morning all…..

  4. Lee says:

Cynical bunch aren’t we? But that’s what it’s been like over the past few years. Arsene let’s not have a “groundhog” summer, identify the players you want now! If the price is €10m pay the price don’t take the piss offering €5m and get them in pronto. It may be alien to AFC but get all our business done ASAP….
    Morning all btw.
Rico, she’s fine thanks……out shopping so all better! 😉

  5. rico says:

    Morning Wath & Lee.

Glad to hear that, no doubt Mrs Lee will make up for any lost shopping time… That will get agag’s attention 😉

  6. rico says:

Oz – not watching the opposition in action, especially for such a big game like BM is asking for trouble. But on the other hand, didn’t Wenger once say he is always watching football, that is his life?

  7. Scott from Oz says:

Wath, i always get Ramsey and Merts mixed up……..they look so alike!
    Morning Oz, Rico, Lee.
    Welcome Terry.
I know i always say i am confident, but i truly am today.
Jack will have been every players ear since Bayern.
Arsene probably followed wiping away their tears.
Yes, i know he treats them with kid gloves.
My Ipad will die soon, and it is nearly kip time, so if i disappear,i will see you all in a few hours.

  8. Scott from Oz says:

And i can’t even tell you how sunny it is here Adam….it has been pelting down for days.
I guess you have got 35 degrees, Oz lol

  9. Simon Taylor says:

Can i remind everyone that we don’t have another competition to save players for, so im hopeful of a different strategy today. There’s a lot of negativity around Wenger at the moment. Im up for getting behind the manager and the team and seen jg if they come good on their promise of a shake up in the summer.

  10. rico says:

I think we all know that Simon… What shake up has been ‘promised’?

Not that anything we get told seems to come true….

  11. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Back to the negativity I see. I suppose there will be the usual tiny minority booing if we aren’t two up at half time.

We have had a week of positive posts but now we are back to the moaning and whining and so called fans refusing free tickets. If I want to hear about Wengers faults or about how much of a crisis our club is in, I can go to any rival clubs forums or one of the Newspapers. I could even listen to Talksport. I chose HH because of the sensible posts and debate with a group of fans who all want the same thing. It is okay to debate and share opinions but that is different than moaning and complaining. A week of great debate and now this post which in my opinion is just a whine. Get behind the club for heavens sake.

  12. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Morning Scott, morning Adam, morning Lee. Try and cheer this miserable lot up will you….! I was just about to phone the Samaritans, lucky it was engaged.

  13. Adam says:

By pushing some buttons and clicking some other stuff I found myself on HH on 19th February 2012 just a few minutes ago.
I think we may all be caught in a time warp and that Stephen Hawking’s theory about the bending of space and time has been proved correct.

  14. rico says:

Kj, just as your ‘positive’ post was up for all to read, so will any other. Ok, it doesn’t suit your view but that’s too bad I am afraid…

Is it really negative, or has Steve just not written about what he has witnessed all too often….

  15. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Rico. Cheer up, didn’ t you get a good nights sleep? There will be a shake up. The money starts rolling 2014. Also, we will have got shot of a lot of the dross we have on the books. A good win today and if the others drop points, looking good. They have tougher games in the run in too. 2014 and onwards will see the rise of The Arsenal back to where we belong. Just in time for my Arsenal tattoo.

  16. rico says:

That is just your view Kj, and fine, you stick to it, but I have mine and I will stick to that thank you.

Oh, and I really don’t need your sarcastic comments about me and my sleep pattern thanks. I am a realist, who see’s what is in front of me and has done for many seasons now.

When things change then my view might, but until then, I am entitled to my own opinion!

  17. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Rico. Not complaining you posted it that’s fine. But is was just a whine, a long list of negative comments and reasons to turn down a free ticket. Thought he might have been a Spurs fan in disguise. Just disappoints me all the negativity around our club. Like I said, it’s bad enough with the media hounding the club and not being fair, let alone our own fans. I was bouyant today, expecting a very good performance now I feel depressed again!!

  18. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Rico. I wasn’t being sarcastic, it was a joke. Apologies. I guess we are all a bit nervous today. I fully accept your view and agree with a lot of what you say. I was only saying that sometimes we go a bit overboard with the negativity, that’s all.

  19. rico says:

Good Kj, but I really couldn’t give a hoot if you are complaining or not.

So what if Sp turned down a ticket, that’s his choice, he is just sharing how he feels. Just as you did. Like I said, you can’t just sit back and applaud people who write what you want to read…

  20. rico says:

I guess your humour didn’t come through and maybe once you have been here longer, we’ll all be able to tell….

Just like the ‘spurs fan in disguise’ – that really is the lowest of low calls, even if it was meant to be a joke….

  21. ozgunner10 says:

money starts rolling in 2014?? Have you followed our accounts KJ – its been rolling for years now the pressure might worse him to spend a bit more is all

  22. rico says:

Next week we all get to see just how much money there is Oz…. Must be £150 million by now..

I hope so Lee, I thought we batter BB, but look what happened.

Fingers crossed we do see something different, more urgency, chances taken and no sign of Gervinho!!

  23. Lee says:

SSP are spxrs fan would you Adam & Eve that? 😉
Comprehensive win today and fat Sam’s mob do us a favour on Monday night……SWEET!

  24. upgunners says:

Good afternoon all! It feels like ages since we last won a trophy(specifically 2,835 days) when will the trophy drought end?

  25. rico says:

Well I hope be batter the onion bag today then Lee 😉

Thankfully we should see Giroud and Walcott start today, and Podolski on the left…..

  26. rico says:

And Reading beat Wigan today too, that would be my perfect footie results. Oh, plus Manure getting a pasting of course 😉

  27. Lee says:

Then rip those wankers a new one at shite hart lane…..
Mankini’s been taking the piss out of Arsene at his presser…..Adam was right about him being an onanist!!!

  28. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Rico. I guess you are right about humour, I wouldn’t go on here and insult people of course it was joke. There will be money available and it will be £150 million plus but we can compete on wages too 2014. To be honest if it doesn’t get spent now we finally have it, I will be giving it to the board like a lot of you on here. Sometimes though, you can spend big and still get rubbish, Man City are getting that with Nasri. Mancinis comments made me smile.

We do need proven experienced players for those key positions we all know are a problem for us. And totally agree that zonal marking can never work because you need your best headers against their best headers and we aren’t a big team in any case. Easy for the opposition but you have to ask about Bould in that respect and that worries me.

We have tried the long term approach based on potential and it has failed in the main, so lets make sure we get CL next season to attract the players we can now afford. Three nil today. Spurs and Chelsea to drop points.

  29. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Adam, Near Highbury Corner and Canonbury Road School. Went to school with Jessie Birdsall the actor and Matt Bishop the F1 journalist, all Gooners.

  30. rico says:

I’m going to wait to see some of that money spent before I believe vast improvements are on the cards…

Heard all this ‘Wenger has money to spend’ before, all worn a bit thin now….

  31. agirlagunner says:

Hello, all! Good one, SSP. I do agree, we have become altogether too predictable. When the oppo choose to park the bus, we hardly ever muster an appropriate response.

That said, I still think we’ll win this one! COYGs!!

  32. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Syg. Nice one. The two I listed were nobodies.

Rico, surely Oscar Pistorius isn’t the first man to wake up legless during Valentine’s night, then shoot all over his partner whilst imagining she’s somebody else?

  33. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Sorry but I couldn’t resist this one:
Looks as though Arsene Wenger might be looking to Oscar Pistorius in the Summer transfer window after reports claimed he had more shots on target in 9 seconds than Arsenal did in 90 minutes against Bayern Munich….

  34. stevepalmer1 says:

Afternoon all, sorry its late but i had to get the car MOT’d Needed new rear pads, but fitted and back on the road. I see one or two of you didn’t like the post, sorry about that but after a week of good upbeat posts, its back to reality, Wenger may lift the lads this afternoon, seeing how we are out of everything else apart from our return with BM 3 goals away shouldn’t be a problem should it. I understand how many of you want upbeat posts to read i also want to read about how good we are and what a great Manager Wenger is and how his backed By SK but i’m sorry i can’t say that. the only positive thing i can say at the moment is that we should win, but we’ll have to wait till later on to find out.

  35. Adam says:

Kevin KJ. I know it well. I am originally out of Liverpool Road, the HighburyCorner end and my uncle lived in Canonbury Square. I will be driving that way in about an hour. I’d keep schtum about the Birdsall connection if I was you 🙂 – despite the fact that he is a wonderful actor. I used to see him over Highbury with his son.

  36. agirlagunner says:

Keep warm, Adam. 🙂 🙂 SSP, I am well, no new purchases. Like AK, I’ve been behaving. 🙂 🙂 Howdy?

  37. rico says:

Hi Sp, hope it passed 😉

Back before the match, going to make some crumpets 🙂

Adam, and anyone else going today, wrap up warm and fingers/toes crossed for a great result and hope we aren’t talking about Martin Atkinson later….

    Kj, yes, I know 😉

  38. Kevin KJ Downton says:

    Syg Getting desperate now mate!

Adam. Nice one, glue pot…. 🙂
Happy days I miss the old place, live in Essex now. Good memories, especially the open top bus parade after the 1971 Double Highbury Corner was banged.

  39. stevepalmer1 says:

Hi Rico, only after i paid out 130 quid. And thank you for sticking up for me, never had a body guard before. 🙂

  40. Adam says:

Martin Atkinson? Doesn’t he have a special gland that secretes a a slimy, foul-smelling liquid that he slides around on? I think it is a vestigial throw back inherited from the primeval ooze.
    Interesting, yet gross.

  41. agirlagunner says:

Actually, it’s pretty sad, SSP. 😉

Thermals and ten layers, you’d barely be able to move, Adam. I hope champagne for Mrs Adam after the game. 🙂 🙂

  42. W.A.T.H says:

Lee, you shoveling the stuff from your front doorstep….! I am fine mate borrowed Rico’s snow plough just in case.

  43. rico says:

Well that didn’t take long, blooming mixture has to sit for a couple of hours and start ‘foaming’…. pfff

  44. southyorkshiregunner says:

Gervais at centre forward, Diaby as the false 10, Coquelin as right back and Ramsey on the wing. Jack’s rested …. on the bench to bring on on 70 mins ……

  45. rico says:

Afternoon Ak, tough call for right back… They have a bit of pace don’t they and Benteke tends to go out to the left I think…

    Is Jenks up to it?

  46. W.A.T.H says:

Hi AGAG, Nope not going refuse to go in until they invest some of my season ticket money in some more quality players so it’s the pub for me with the chaps….!

  47. rico says:

It’s his tackle I worry about Ak 😉

I’d rather Jenks plays, he’s a left back. Kos is a makeshift and we need to stop all that…

TV at left back showed what a disaster that can be…

  48. allezkev says:

Having posted that SYG, it would not suprise me in the slightest, to see Gervinho & Diaby in the starting XI…

  49. southyorkshiregunner says:

Sorry had a mate come over to gym with his 5 year old lad …. got sort of side tracked from the important stuff lol….

Villa should be a walkover, but so should Blackburn…… 5-1 would be a realistic result ….

…..but with Arsenal, anything can happen ….
    …1-1 Arteta pen 89 is a decent bet ….

  50. agirlagunner says:

rico, haha. I’m sure it will turn out fine. 🙂 TV at LB was a disaster. No no no.

WATH, I’m sure you give pub owners good business. 😉 😀 All those drinks!

SYG, that line-up is suicidal. 😀

  51. southyorkshiregunner says:

Me too Kev … The reverse v’s Bayern has given Wenger an excuse to placate his two pet poodles …….

Pedro at Le-Grove called Wenger a one-trick pony back in October..
…. He sees Gervais as “his” new-Henry – a fleet-footed winger turned centre forward; and Diaby as “his” new-Viera – a tall imposing and ruthless box to box gladiator ….

… Forrest Gump and Gladys …..

  52. NashuaGunners says:

    Hi everyone.

I’ll keep my prediction very close to my chest. The two resent defeat from Aston Villa has come from the Emirates.

15m for a player, you going to get shit. No club would sell there best player for any thing less than 20m. When we talk about quality that will make a difference in our squad 20m to 30m will make the difference. 15m is for another Gerv.

  53. southyorkshiregunner says:

Arsenal team: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Monreal, Arteta, Diaby, Wilshere, Walcott, Giroud, Cazorla.

Subs: Mannone, Koscielny, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Gervinho, Podolski.

  54. rico says:

Hi Ng, I don’t totally agree there. We could have got Capoue for £10 million last summer, Michu cost Swansea less than that and Monreal looks like he’s going to be a top left back….

Sometimes a clubs finances dictate a players price and if that club is in a mess, then others can take advantage….

  55. Wavy says:

Question for Syg, didn’t Brian Blessed come from Goldthorpe? In fairness I think he may be a couple of years older than you!
Bit he’s pretty famous amongst the luvvies profession.

Arsenal 3 Villa 1 cos we just can’t keep clean sheets!

  56. stevepalmer1 says:

Usualy there on my own Rico. Watching Fulham v Stoke game Bob a job has scored a blinder still 1.0 to Fulham

  57. NashuaGunners says:

I hope you’re right Rico. Monreal just started to play, so the jury is still out. When Cazorla started he was on fire. Where is he now?

Michu, to Arsenal quality? he would have been expose.

  58. rico says:

I’m watching too Sp, makes me laugh to see Poolis moaning about time wasting….

Not that his bunch of thugs would ever do such a thing eh…

    Berbytoff scored a good goal….

  59. Wavy says:

I hope you are not referring to the infamous Capt Pugwash crew member Ordinary seaman Stains? (he didn’t exist, by the way, just a bit of grubby fiction!)
However, I do have a preference for clean sheets just can’t manage to keep them pristine!

  60. southyorkshiregunner says:

Brian Blessed, Wavy? ….. He’s twenty-odd years older than me !!!!!

He lived at Probert Avenue in Goldthorpe and moved down to Bolton-on-Dearne …. on The Crescent if I’m right …… went to same school as me. but in the 1950’s …..

I read his autobiography whilst on holiday……. There was some stuff I could relate to but there was a lot in there what I know is total bullshit ….
    …Bullshit = lies … Blessed tells lies ..
…. big fcukng mega ones as well …

….There was nothing in it about his mother being caught shop lifting and being charged by the police either ….

  61. rico says:

Just naming a few really Ng but honestly, we don’t have to spend huge money to find players who will really give us so much more.

I’m am not fool enough to think we could afford Falcao, and why waste most of our budget on one player. That would be silly imho.

But players like Begovic, Capoue, Sakho, Isco etc won’t break our bank, or the club….

  62. Wavy says:

Not over fond myself! A bit too loud and louche for my taste. As for his mother, I’ve no ides about her light fingers or his lack of honesty, but what can you expect he is/was an ACTOR. His whole life has been a lie! I mean who is B Blessed, what is he?

  63. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Wavy …. Top man….

My 89 year old nan was spitting feathers when I mentioned him ….

“He was the bloody village idiot …….He looked like a toad ….”

She read the self-same autobiography after me … and quipped:

“And he’s a bloody liar … Nowt in there about his mother being caught shoplifting….”

  64. tsGH says:

    4-2 Rico. No Eisfield today.

I can not believe a 27 y.o goalie is still learning his trade at that aged. I am glad his contract is ending. What concerns me is that we have dropped Shea and Martinez for him instead. Does that mean he still has a future with us?

  65. DutchGooner10 says:

Rico I felt irrationality emerged in panic last night. Going over the tasks involved. So much to consider and pounder.

SteveP stroke the cat and lean back, you armchair Gooner. 😛

  66. Scott from Oz says:

Aaron will be doing well to bang in a hat trick today 🙂
    Good mornng guys.
2am and all is well, though i had settled into a glorious sleep lol.

  67. southyorkshiregunner says:

I’m ok Ginge … freezing ny nackers off but ok ….Hopefully we’ll all be ok and smiling at 4:50pm ….. Hopefully ….

………………that’s if Abonghalor and Benteke don’t run our static defence ragged …

Up the gunners !!!! Martin Atkinson is ace etc …

  68. rico says:

Thanks Ts, I agree. Thankfully both he and Mannone’s contracts are up in the summer. We have to be signing one that’s for sure.

Just hope Wenger doesn’t choose him 😉

  69. Scott from Oz says:

Quick one….before i got some sleep, i watched a highlight show of the best PL goals from the 2003/04 season.
Don’t laugh, but there are some amazing similarities between that side and the present one.
Both wore red and white, and both had the same manager 🙂

  70. allezkev says:

    Early goal for a change…

Wonder what effect that will have on both teams???
Confidence is a rare commodity in both dressing rooms.

  71. southyorkshiregunner says:

Diaby getting rave revues on Sportinglife.com … been mentioned twice thus far

12 Arsenal trying to force the issue at times. Diaby this time with a wayward pass, which he is fortunate to see bounce back to him. You can see the home side are a little nervy, even with the one-goal lead.

3 Villa getting 10 men behind the ball, with only Benteke left up top. Arsenal looking to move bodies around. Diaby finds a yard of space on the right, but slices an attempted cross from deep behind for a goal kick.

  72. rico says:

Think I give up on finding a link, none of the ones left by Dg or JM are working….

All I get is some adverts and then a security warning….

    🙁

  73. tsgh says:

JW needs to watch a few DB or Riquelme videos if he wants to make the no.10 his own. His starting position is not putting pressure on the opposition DM at all.

  74. rico says:

Frustrating isn’t it Syg…. Am listening, just no picture. Matt Le Tiss is giving updates too. Got it all on 😉

Scott, have to understand your logic there, we just need that second and soon. Settle the nerves in the players and fans….

  75. southyorkshiregunner says:

You have to respect Le Tissier … or feel sorry for him…

A loyal one club man who never chased big bucks with the big boys …. and who got his royally arse goosed by Glen Hoddle prior to the Woirld Cup ….. Hits a hatrick in the Sweden game preceding the squad announcement and gets left out ..???

  76. Scott from Oz says:

Syg, even from this far away, Le Tissier was always a player that deserved respect.
    What a player.
Jack showed a few weeks back he ca hit a ball….more please.
He gets a few chances each game from 20-25 yards out.
I would like to see him chance his arm a little more.

  77. Lee says:

With four quality additions in the summer we’ll get some silverware! Judas gone off injured…..
    Reading losing……

  78. tsgh says:

    Who ever injured Purstrings… nice… oh shame… 😉

Talking of QPR, only Harry will buy a player like Remy who has had an injury plagued season and give him a king ransom-like contract.

How many games has he played since he joined them. The same can be said of M’villa… he is not even playing for the Russians at the moment.

  79. Joaquim Moreira says:

well but lot of space between the defense and the midfield.
Bayern 4-1 at the moment. How we can win 0-3 at least? Bayern average of goals suffer: 0,3

  80. agirlagunner says:

    Awww. Poor Pursey. Injured. 😀 😀 About bloody time!! I hope it’s serious/career threatening/forever. 😉 🙂

Great goal by Cazorlove, but our defense is worrying me. Carved open too easily.

  82. southyorkshiregunner says:

We’ll go to Munich and do ’em 1-3 and win 5-4 on pens Joaquim …. Ask Ginge …. We’ll waltz through to the final and hammer Man Utd 2-0 with goals from Forrest Gump and Gladys

  83. eastsidepaul says:

DG the only problem I’m experiencing with the links is that my internet connection stinks.. apart from that everything is good.

  84. Scott from Oz says:

We need to tighten our midfield.
When Villa attack, they have acres of space through the middle, and can get numbers forward.
Diaby is not the same player he was at the start of the season, and has no injury concerns, plus has games under his belt.
I hope he can turn his form around, because he was dominant early on.
The next goal will have a massive impact on Arsenals season.

  85. southyorkshiregunner says:

…… wenger will then give them both 5-year contracts on £200K a week so Man Utd or Barcelona can’t poach them ….

  86. southyorkshiregunner says:

SKY BET currently have Robin van Persie is 3/1 to score the next goal and Javier Hernandez is 9/2 flasshing on the SL commentary……

Van Persie is THAT good he can score after being brought off

  87. tsgh says:

Abu Dhabi is showing is majestic form this afternoon. OG12 going through another of his trends. 7 games without scoring… consistency?

  88. southyorkshiregunner says:

I’ll second that Kev …. nearly the 70 min mark ….. Bring on Forrest Gump … pass it to him and he’ll run straight out of the exit doors of the Emirates and down Gillespie Road doing 73 step overs as he does ….

  89. tsgh says:

Esp… less than 10 games since last June. He is not very match fit. Aw is probably thinking Ramsey is more defensively sound than the Mozart.

  90. southyorkshiregunner says:

Ramsey gives Wenger better blow jobs ESP …..

    Arsenal Blow Job List
    1. Diaby
    2. Gervais
    3. Coquelin
    4. Ramsey

    16. Rosicky

  91. rico says:

Lansbury has scored his second goal in two games… Funny what a new manager can do eh….

Billy Davies at Forrest isn’t it?

  92. southyorkshiregunner says:

An Aussie goalkeeper Scott and it would have just ricocheted off the empty tins of amber nectar and out of play ….

  93. allezkev says:

I’m not seeing the game, & the radio coverage is shit…

    So, how has Walcott played?
    What about Giroud?
Has Cazorla had a good game other than his goal?
How has Jenks & Nacho done?
And Jack, does he look tired?

  94. Scott from Oz says:

    Kev,
    Theo….non event.
Giroud….playing well, but really needs to find the back of the net rather than just threatening to.
    Santi is going well.
Jenks and Nacho have been good.
Jack is not sensational, but going well.
    Probably is a little jaded.
Him off, Rosicky on could work.

  95. Scott from Oz says:

Jacks ball to free Macho up was sublime.
For a change, our cross found the man.
That is NOT a knock on our crosses today, but our guys seem to be in the wrong spot all game.

  96. Scott from Oz says:

Copy and paste the last few dozen match reports, change the opponents and score, tomorrows post is done Rico 🙂

  97. eastsidepaul says:

I can guarantee you Rico that person wasn’t me! Look that pint sized magician!

Our defence,,, is more than worrying.
Every penny of that 70m will need to be spent.

  98. Scott from Oz says:

I still can not see how Szczesny allowed their goal.
Tbh, it should not have got within 40 yards though.
Our guys kept backing off which is fine if you are holding the attackers up, but they were flooding forward at pace and we invited the shot.

  99. Scott from Oz says:

Kev, scratch those comments on Jack mate.
Maybe he got under my guard a little.
His stats were our of this world.
A dominant display, and maybe he has set his own standards so high, i was a little harsh on him.

  100. Joaquim Moreira says:

our defence? ok… but the big problem it’s the organization.
TW never defend. Look at the others teams: tey haven’t good defenders then ours but what become them bigger, it’s the organization of the team and be where they really must be.

  101. rico says:

Esp – I know, you never have..

Ng, wasn’t having a dig at you, honest..

He is awesome, when it ticks for him, he turns it on….

  102. stevepalmer1 says:

3 pts are ours but how hard did we make that. What is the point of Theo Walcott he suffers from premature shooting, never made a challenge all day now tell me why is he worth 100 grand a week. can nobody pass a through ball to an actual Arsenal player . Yes i know you are going to tell me we won, but villa was rubbish but they ran from the halfway line without one Arsenal player shutting down or making a tackle and Czezesney flapped he is rubbish absolute rubbish Keep Jack and build a team around him sell the rest.

  103. rico says:

    Or Martinez Lewis?

Nah Scott, you said 3-1 didn’t you? 😉

JM, I’m not sure Walcott should. If he does and we break, who is there??

No defence can match him for pace, he has to be the last player to come back and defend surely?

  104. DutchGooner10 says:

Hooray for grafting a result. Well done to our Playmobil Spaniard. Nacho is a sexier version of Crouch.

  105. NashuaGunners says:

@SteveP: I hear you loud and clear. Arsenal is just not good enough. We need qualities signing. I Mean Qualities with Capital Q.

  106. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, we should have made it 13-1 lol.
Szczesny was actually very god and made some top saves, but that one……wtf??
Keeper is a position where you don’t get a second chance.
I was surprised the guy took the shot, and maybe Szczesny was.
That is not an excuse, it is a lack of concentration.
The ability is there to be world class, but plenty is still missing.

  107. Wavy says:

Corpulent Crooks makes an insightful comment:
Garth Crooks, BBC Sport on Final Score
“Arsenal have only got one leader, and he is 20 years of age. That can’t work, they need more than Jack Wilshere in there.”

He needs to go on a diet, the fat has fried his brain!

Then again he might have a point?

  108. Joaquim Moreira says:

TW only wants to shoot from everywhere
He must put in the mid then he must play much more with the team and hasn’t a strong shoot

  109. stevepalmer1 says:

Hi Dutch, thanks for the link mate. I hate to say it but Arsenal fc are the best passing back side in all the leagues. passing forward stinks as no one wants to go forward you would of course have noticed that santis second goal came from a pass back, and his first was from a rebound of a cross which of course never made it. Czezesney parried all day the only one he never he missed Plonker.

  110. Wavy says:

I know he is. I just don’t like any ex spuds comments on any member of the Arsenal team. Especially him because I think he is an opinionated fat twat! With not a lot os sensible insight to offer.

  111. agirlagunner says:

I find more than a little annoying our players’ propensity for backheel flicks. What’s the point???

Kev, I have my eye on something. I’m saving it for when we win at Munich. 🙂 🙂

  112. rico says:

I’m done for the day folks, off to enjoy my Saturday night and write tomorrows post of course…

We needed three points, we got three points.

As for the way we played, did we really expect anything different??

But hey, a summer shake up, a few new signings and all could be great again 😉

Night all, have a good one……

  113. DutchGooner10 says:

Hiya Agag, wouldn’t send Nacho auditioning for the Bold & Beautiful just yet. But indeed eagerly awaiting the day he performs the Crouch-robotics celebrations.

Rico the planet is hardly starved for personas sexier than Crouch, unless you need your lightbulb changed.

  114. agirlagunner says:

Oh, rico. I’m looking forward to beating Munich in their own turf. 😉 🙂

He’s not unfortunate looking, Dutch. 🙂 Nowhere near as pretty as Giroud or Poldi, but he ain’t no Tevez or Shrek.

  115. Adam says:

Just back from the game. So many empty seats again but getting worse and worse every week. I think that Wenger should just record a half-time speech because it’s the same old rubbish every bloody game. Really much too tedious to write a lengthy report but suffice it to say that the good points could be written on a postage stamp. As for performances. Chesney getting worse by the game. Diaby a slow waste of space who imitates a whirling Dervish every time he gets the ball. Mertesacker is the only one who will pass to him now as he is so unbelievably bad. What that bloke has done to earn a starting place today is a mystery. Jenks is willing but average. Giroud is awful and plays like a like a statue but with less composure and if Vermaelen is a captain then Frank Ribery doesn’t like young girls.
Overall the whole turnout was really shitty. Really shitty.
What the hell has happened to my club? Going to watch such an uninspired and naive performance in the freezing cold is not to be recommended. Quite what Wenger has in store for Arsenal is really anyone’s guess. This team is on a wing and a prayer now. They can’t even do the basics.
I am irritated but also disillusioned and seriously fear for the future if this is all Wenger can drag out of this shower.

  116. DutchGooner10 says:

    Night Madam.

SteveP I will try to find crispier stream service so no heart beat shall be missed from first whistle. On the game: not bursting with flavours, lots of predictable repetitive patterns easy to intercept.

  117. DutchGooner10 says:

Agag don’t forget Ribery. Looking very thuggish, suspecting they kept the placenta and disregarded the thing attached to the umbilical. 🙂

  118. Adam says:

Hi Steve. Honestly mate, our club are in a right state. This team are making the same mistakes every week and you can tell that the crowd never, ever feel comfortable. Yes we won and some will say that the 3 points are all that matters. I see that, but we easily could have lost. We are so far away from being a top team I have just been sitting here thinking about who should stay and who simply isn’t good enough. I had to stop that one as it’s so frightening to contemplate.

  119. stevepalmer1 says:

Thats how i have been feeling for some time Adam. As you say something is wrong and its afecting everyone at the club. Supporters are the last to know but when they stop coming you know they have had it up to their necks. Expect a shake up fairly soon.

  120. Lee says:

How many of the current crop get in the “Invincibles” team……
JW gets on the bench….and that’s it!!! Sad demise!

  121. Lee says:

We don’t just need four quality players…we need a massive shake up in the boardroom! Wenger you’re a manager of a football team not a PLC….

  122. stevepalmer1 says:

Hiya Lee, bad when you win and you wonder what the F–k are we going to do next. I was just going to tell Adam don’t watch it on the tele its even worse.

  123. Adam says:

Steve. It has to happen. Much more of this and ST renewals are gonna be a real problem and attendances will be 40-45,000 silent people. Our decline started slowly, dawdled along a bit but things are going downhill fast now and Wenger plainly cannot arrest the slide. How can the man that put this side together, dismantle it. I just don’t see it.
If we miss 4th spot then it’ll be the Thursday and Sunday of the Europa League. At these prices? No, I don’t think so. But can you see this lot reducing prices?

  124. Adam says:

Hi Lee. It’s one thing moaning when you lose. That’s bad enough, but I feel just as bad today and we won. The downward spiral is getting quicker mate. It’s frightening stuff over there at the moment. Not at all enjoyable.

  125. stevepalmer1 says:

Stan sat in the crowd to day, don’t know if you saw him but he couldn’t be that impressed. If he knew what was going on that is

  126. NashuaGunners says:

    GoodNight Adam.

This is what happened when the man at the top does not interested in the game but the profit. Two clubs with an American owners who sell players every dam year.

  127. DutchGooner10 says:

    Adam / Lee / SteveP

The elasticity of our penny pinching policy and club management is reaching its snap moment. Everything has been retardedly overstretched to a point where it doesn’t return to natural form or state. Pride, squad balance, attacking flow, unity, cohesion, combative play, home advantage, scintillating crowd, ambitions, aspirations all are highly suspect of insurmountable exhaustion.

Can’t imagine these barriers being broken in the near foreseeable future.

  128. stevepalmer1 says:

Sorry Dutch was watching the tv, Someting has to give mate or we could be in the same position as the spuds and 52 years is a long time.

  129. Scott from Oz says:

As a few…actually, everyone…has said, the points are all we can take out of it.
Better than nothing, but only just.
I reckon Stan has two issues.
A….well, he is happy with the club ticking over and improving his investment.
B….even though he knows the club is hardly soaring, knowing nothing about the game means he is like a deer in the headlights, and can offer no solution.
It creates a very awkward position for the entire club and its fans.
Stan, sell up bud, do us all a favour.

  130. Scott from Oz says:

    Hardly Steve lol.
Truth be told, on game day/night, i sleep on the lounge, so Sean comes out and wakes me up.
    Glory be….the replay is one.
I guess i deserve it haha.

  131. stevepalmer1 says:

when i saw him sitting there Scott he didn’t look that comfortable, Maybe weighing up his options after all he is a buisness man. Many believe he knows nothing about football but i think he knows what he’s about.

  132. Scott from Oz says:

Steve, i question if he knows what makes a football team successful though.
We all know money helps, but is not the only thing.
He knows the truth of what is happening behind he scenes, and possibly knows Wengers hands are tied, but is also possible he wouldn’t know whether it would be better to replace him.
Anyone with enough cash can own a club, but knowing what makes it tick and thrive is a different thing altogether.

  133. stevepalmer1 says:

Ask yourself the question Scott that if you had brought into a buisness like ours with a 60 thousand capacity and you saw it half full wouldn’t alarm bells be ringing. supporters all over the world look to the supporters who go every week many can’t go themselves but many would if they could, but would they still support if the team they thought were top of the tree is dropping down the table with empty seats evident in the games they watch on TV. Stan may not know a great amount about football i dont know but he knows that when a stadium is half empty it sends out the wrong signals.

  134. Scott from Oz says:

    But does he care Steve?
What i mean is the club as a business is growing.
While he value of his shares go up, does anything else matter?
If vacant seats means less ST holders, and that affects the price, then yes, he would definitely notice that.

  135. stevepalmer1 says:

For some reason Arsenal seem to want to run on a budget, whether Wenger has more to say in the club i dont know, perhaps wenger is trying to show that he can keep up with the top clubs without big spending, or perhaps we still turn over huge profits with out spending who knows but if we keep playing like we are and they will lose the 30 million that champions league pay out. that should turn heads i know

  136. Scott from Oz says:

    It certainly will Steve.
Will it make Stan spend though, or tighten things even more?
Maybe it would make him sell?
    The uncertainty is the killer.

  137. stevepalmer1 says:

There seems to be a culture in England that as long as you make a good living many are satisfied. Foreign owners seem to want to be more successful as if to put themselves on the map. The russian seems to want total control he seems to enjoy success he spends and this FFp will probably stiffle him a bit. The Arabs have always been wealthy they want to be the best because no is not in their vocabulary they usually get their own way as everybody wants their oil. Americans have a similar look on things to us although they asire to be better than everyone they also need oil and theirs is running out.

  138. Scott from Oz says:

I like the German system where a potential owner must be a member of the club for 10 years before taking over.
    It weeds out “investors”.

  139. NashuaGunners says:

This man care more about his bottom-line than what fans think. a bunch of questions ‘HE’ should have raised seeing things the way they are going, for example why are we losing to Bradford, BB, why players are leaving, why so many empty seats, why fans are so disgruntled. If he really does care about the game he will try to do what necessary to make it right.

  140. stevepalmer1 says:

We certainly hope so Nash, but up to now he has kept his hand in his pocket. I have a different mindset if i buy a second hand car i would try and buy things for it to bring it up to the standard of a new one or even better SK must have many second hand things and is not that bothered

  141. stevepalmer1 says:

Trouble is though Scott coruption in many of the leagues are tainted at this present time English football is supposed to be clean. but as you know money talks and big money talks even louder. it seems to me that certain clubs are treated differently. How does the best striker of the league get sold to your biggest rival unless scullduggery is hapening. How can any team hope to survive how we are performing sell our best and buy second best

  142. NashuaGunners says:

That is my whole point, when you care for some thing you love you cherish it by putting time and money to upgrade it to suit your standard. He has not done that. Besides our facility, we are miles behind Chelsea, ManU and Mancity in players investment. Is Roman Abramovich love football more than him? I believe so. IMHO

  143. Scott from Oz says:

Nashua, they outplayed us, without question.
    Bayern taught us a lesson.
The positive was that we showed we can outplay them, but ten minutes here and there isn’t good enough.
We need to do it for 90.

  144. rico says:

    Morning all…

I am loving the comments from Adebayor and Bale, they have a lot to say about how much better than us they are.

Well let them carry on, just hope our boys don’t join in, heads down and a week of training hard, NO talking to the press….
