Morning all.
I’m not going to dwell on Tuesday nights dreadful performance as what’s the point really? We’ve all being saying the same old thing for what seems like ages and nothing really changes. A great result at WHL in the Capital One Cup followed by a thumping of Leicester in the league and then bang, European football comes along and the team commits footballing suicide.
I’ve always said I’m not fussed about the Champions League and if we do go out at the group stage, so be it, it might just help on the domestic front as until we have a squad which oozes depth in strength, we can’t cope on all four fronts. Not sure we can cope with three but I suspect we’ll soon be down to two…
The longer other English clubs stay in the competition, the more it will help us and the same goes for those playing in the Europa League – we all know league form suffers after a game on a Thursday night which is why I hope that if we don’t qualify, we finish bottom of the group and go out all together.
What matters now is how Arsene Wenger and the players regroup and get focussed for the home fixture against the league leaders on Sunday afternoon.
Theo Walcott has been voted the Vitality Player of the month for September with 22% of the votes. In second place with 18% is Mathieu Flamini which made me chuckle. The guy has barely played this season but two goals to be the noisy neighbours got fans back on his side. Third was Mesut Ozil with 11% and the rest made up the remaining 49%.
I think those votes tell a tale and that’s no-one is really performing at a top level consistently otherwise the player of the month would be getting a much higher percentage but I think we all know that and Tuesday was a typical example.
According to a few back page headlines, Arsene Wenger laid into the players yesterday at the training ground and made it clear that he expects more from them, a lot more. Good if true.
These players have to up their game, start doing the job they get paid handsomely for and stop performing like they’re on the training pitch or worrying abut where their next flash suit will come from or what tattoo they should get next. Most, if not all are seasoned international players who don’t suddenly become bad overnight. They need to take some responsibility for their own performances and work a darn sight harder than they have been this season at times.
If they can’t and don’t then I hope Arsene Wenger grows a pair and starts dropping a few, not all at once of course as that could have catastrophic consequences but let one or two know their own performances are simply not good enough and make it clear they are not above sitting on the bench. So they might sulk. So what, if they do, doesn’t it just show that they aren’t fighters? Arsenal need fighters, players who will roll up their sleeves and give 100% and if there’s anyone in this side, which I happen to think there is, who isn’t up to doing that then come January or the summer, sell them and sign players who will.
That’s it for Thursday, I’m off out for the day whilst the weather is good so apologies to anyone who get’s stuck in moderation..
Competition seems to be helping the Giroud /Walcott situation.
Lol bench who really rico?? That’s hilarious. Alright say we bench them who plays??? Our second string team is even shittier 😀 we don’t have the squad depth to afford such luxuries. We re a joke presently. Morning all and happy new month 😀 is that even a thing?? Happy new month??? Lol
Hiya potter how’s it hanging my good man???
Transfer them in the summer and replace them with new ones, if they cant be bothered.
There’s no pressure on the manager to be successful and therefore no pressure on the team. he picks his favourites regardless of form and regardless of who the opposition is and what tactics they employ.
I think deep down we know until arsene figures out how to work his zip and hangs up his long managerial puffer jacket all will remain the same.
If Stan was to give Wenger an ultimatum of win a title or else, do people think he’d manage differently??
Would he spend more?
Morning all.
That’s the 64million dollar question Scott….! I think nothing would change think he past being able to change when you look at things in a certain way for so long it’s habit……….
Ginge, I know this view will not be popular, and I understand why.
But I reckon that Wenger has Bielik and Kamara earmarked to take over from Flamini and Arteta, and that’s why he didn’t sign a def/mid in the summer…
I’m not saying that that’s right or not, I’m just saying…
I suppose the success of Bellerin shows what you can have under your nose, when there is a clamour for new signings…
Afternoon all,
Good read.
Diego someone is now looking for ordinary as a manager.
Its frustrating but imo AW is still one of the best managers out there as long as Stan is around.
Kev, same applies with Coquelin.
Wath, I don’t know the answer, I really don’t, but you could well be right.
Still, if Stan did it, at least we’d know.
Agreed Kev.
I admit i haven’t seen Bielek yet but Kamara I like a lot. I like his long strikes. Unfortunately he was not as skilful/flashy on the ball the Arsenal way if you get my drift.
Ts, does Kamara get stuck in….?
Scott, Has Stan told him to pull finger and sort things out..? We don’t even know that do we mate…! We just the mugs that pick up the pieces and get upset game in game out..!
Wath, I’m tipping he hasn’t said boo.
I wish he’d try.
Wath- not like Frimpong .
He is more like Muamba
Wenger has become far too comfortable, complacent, predictable, smug and Teflon like! That is reflected in the team he has assembled….the “Good ship Wenger” gravy train!
Time for a change!
I agree Lee, Sort of……….. My issue is Stan and does it matter if Wenger in charge, Pep or you or I…? Would he put his money where his mouth is or are there constraints and conditions…?
That’s what we just don’t know. Is he riding out the gravy train to cash in on his shares and walk away with triple his money… We all know he ain’t in it for the love of the game or the club he’s is purely an investor simple as that.
Muamba got stick in Ts, certainly wasn’t a push over just not a lunatic like Frimmy..!
YES PLEASE

Afternoon Rico and the House.
Kev Ginge re Bielik .
In a recent interview he stated that when he first started playing ( For Arsenal) he was
surprised by and struggled with the physical aspect of the English game.
He also stated he was playing C/H to help him improve his defensive game and positional play.
Now I watched the last 2 U19’s and thought that although he looks very good with the ball at his feet his defensive play is not so good. I also think that the excellent Pleguezuelo is the outstanding defender that that the acadamy has at the moment .
I think he could make avery good D/M
Just my opinion.
just fucking do it

Morning all, good post rico.
Arsenal FC is poor in Europe because their style of play is predictable and some of the 1st team players aren’t good enough. The clubs needs two proper midfielders, a CF and CB. Stan might be a problem/hindrance to progress, but AW should be doing more with the resources afforded to him. The team is going to have a good stretch of results and all AW failings will be forgotten until he fucks up again next season. I’m sick and tired of seeing him on the bench. The dude sitting next to him is another 1, what purpose he serves?
Hi Rick.
Thanks for that view on Bielik. You have echoed exactly what an acquaintance said re. Bielik.
He thinks he is not ready as a first team CDM yet.
Pleguezuelo struggled a little bit initially playing next to Hayden, Boateng, Miquel and another foreign player whose name escapes me…
I hear Pleguezuelo is looking very promising as you have said.
Where is the AW out petition?
Ginge, I must confess, that I haven’t seen either of them, and I go on what I read on other blogs and AFC.com…
I haven’t had a chance to see the Stiffs ‘live’ for quite awhile…
Finnbogaston, Olympiakos CF who scored the winning goal:
“The first corner is something we practise on the training pitch because we know they have no man on the edge of the box,” Finnbogason said. “When you play against this team you know they’re going to have a lot of the ball. You have to defend well, have the lines tight and use your time when you have spaces. And you know you’re going to have spaces because they don’t want to defend. So our plan worked”
WOW!
Scott, tbh, I think Wenger just got lucky with Coquelin…
Yes Rick, I’ve seen some promising reports on the progress of Pleguezuelo.
Not sure if he’s gonna be big enough to be a centre-back in England?
Angry Lee…
GDNA i think this will be wengers last season
the AKB brigade are starting to turn on him
my money is klopp taking over and i wouldn’t be surprised if hes at the club come early next year to do a change over
And you suprise dna??? Why?? Pep killed us in europe. We re predictable as fuck. Even dundee united ll give us a game 😀 what’s up my man? Is it rainy up east cause my God its been raining for 6 days now!!!
MG no klopp please Carlito allegri or even spaletti but hey right now I ll take any one but wenger even klopp 😀
Ginge you must not forget that he also suffered some bad injury’s and is only just coming back to full fitness.
Ben Sheaf is another one who is catching the eye.
See you latter
goonie i would love Ancelloti, what he has done on short contracts is superb, imagine what he could do on a 5 year contract
MG give him the job for life and he ll deliver 5 champions League titles and 12 fa cups and 15 league titles 😀
Goon/MG, you know what’s funny, when you hear AFC play attractive football. lol. West Ham is currently playing a more attractive brand of football than AFC. I think Carlo Ancelotti will end up at CFC or Juventus, Klopp at Bayern, Jose at PSG and Pep at City. AW will get a new 2 year contract at Arsenal, we are going to suffer under this regime.
Dna nothing suprises me anymore I won’t be suprised if the meeting the board held after the defeat to olympiacos was to extend wengers contract 😀
GDNA i disagree i think wenger will go on to manage france
arsenal will be sold and usmanov will open the bank account
Happy Days
MG dreams buddy just dreams. Never gonna happen.
The French don’t want wenger and he’s definitely not going anywhere. He ll get another 2 years extension. I think people are scared. They can’t imagine an arsenal without wenger. They think it ll all come apart but I ll rather it all came apart and we start afresh. Juve went down a few seasons ago. Since then they ve won the scudetto for 4 years in a row and played in the champions League final. Wenger has taken us as far as he could go. We need a new hand.
Goonster I hear you and you have a point with Juve but you are overlooking that at that same time Milan, Inter, Lazio, Sampdoria have all lost their financial clout. Only Naples had money but even they couldn’t compete.
If we drop out of this league; we will struggle to come back.
Its not like another owner will come along and conjure up another Lewandowski or Aguero. In the 80’s and 90’s if you missed out on Van Basten, you could get Voller, or Klinsman or Papin, bati-goal, or Inzaghi, Canija (spelling),or Weah, or baggio or Romario or even Maradona with a nice supply of white stuff.
Top strikers were 10 a penny if you had money; these days almost all top teams have only 1 striker.
The only people afraid of arsenal without AW are the investors. Am sick of him being in charge. Everybody is figuring him out. He’s too stubborn to change. Brendan knew what he needed to do to get a result at emirates, it worked.
Definately pep will study and figure him out like an obsessed scientist and we’ll have no chance against Bayern.
How stupid can you be repeating the same old shit for over a decade and its not working for you. Since I can remember arsenal couldn’t defend from set pieces. Over and over and AW hasn’t noticed we’re handicapped there? Or the c*not just accepted and moved on.
How many times do we see Ramsey/ox/santi starting play in our box then loose the ball? Isn’t clearing to safety the 1st priority? Everyone knows we can’t defend and when we try it’s shit. Wenger got to go.
Ginge every club has its price
Its being in a position to do a deal
If we had gone to munich and said there’s 70 mill for lewandowski would they had refused
Wenger has a value on a player and wont pay the going rate
We need a coach that gives his shopping list to the CEO and doesn’t get involved with the money side
Wenger has the final say in everything
Mg- MC Munich are the cash richest club in the world. They do not need our money.
When was the last time a team bought from Munchen without the player being crocked?
Owen Hargreaves, Schweinsteiger, Luca Toni, Poldi
Rick, I am with you, Pleggy looks to be a good player who is technically very sound reads the game well and good in the air and the tackle his height is a bit of a problem though which is why i think he’d possibly make a better central midfielder than a centre back..! Time will tell obviously but the boy has something about him…! Bielik is learning the ropes but is a big lad and playing at centre back can only help him see the game better read situations and grow into a better defensively minded player. He also very comfy on the ball.
Kev hear what you’re saying re waiting but also when we need players here and now why not then look at someone a few yrs younger that MA8 that still has the legs and would of improved us..!
We won’t ever know why he ain’t strengthened in the summer but it’s just becoming boring now..!
Ts I never said relegation you prissy old twit 😀 Gee calm down Mon fre. Go get a drink or something. I only said come apart. Like we finishing below the top 10. Lose a chunk of our financial power and sponsors thars all am asking my man 😀 is that too much to ask 😀
A “wengerless” is eventually going to happen and the sooner the better says i.
Ginge i was using lewandowski as an example
The fact is did we have any transfer targets
*wengerless arsenal *
😀 Goonie. To me football first… Arsenal next and BVB last.
Results to me is a fix for a day or week tops…
Mg- I hear you. But I get confused with all the arguments from the media, press and section of fans.
Are we crossed because:-
1. AW is shite tactically
2. He did not spend on the players we expected him to buy
3. the club do not let us know what goes on or
4. we are just tired of Arsenal.
We can not say AW is shite but then conclude that if he had bought 2 or 3 players we won’t lose games; considering that Chelsea have more money and arguably have an ambitious manager
My, yes I think he did have a striker in mind and I think he was persued throughout the summer, despite his club saying he was not available and eventually even he stated that he had no desire to leave Real Madrid! Benzema. Of course! But when the team that were working hard, day and night, failed to get their man there was no other striker either available or, in Wenger’s view, of the class he was after, so the deal was not done and we’ve got what we’ve got, which was we had before, oh and before that, and before that! Ad nauseum!
Mg not My, sodding iPad!
Not go ahead in the CL, means no money and no new players in January or maybe, in the summer.
Simples, no?
Until this year, we were headers in this stage in the CL. Now, with the new rules, we have always a stronger oponent in our group.
Dropped 6 points with theorical teams not so good then Arsenal, wiil be a hammer in our image in europe (and inthe world) and with future consequences.
So, forget new players in january
Mg, The richest soccer club in the world is Real Madrid.
Wath, yep, I get that…
I was chatting to Adam for about an hour yesterday, and he was saying even one of those big, physical, French Vieira types like West Ham pick up periodically or like Sissoko would have tied us over, and I agree. A Sissoko type would have given us more presence in the midfield, both in attack and defence.
And as with Debuchy, it doesn’t mean that a talented kid can’t come through as well…
Even some big fridge-freezer type on loan for 12 months would do the trick…
He does it all the time Wath, gambles and comes unstuck…
Ts our match starts in less than 20 minutes. Are you watching? Am caught up at work. Have you seen the line up??
Evening guys…
What a lovely day it’s been…. ?
Jm, Arsenal have £200m in the bank, they don’t need any more money in order to spend..
Gdna were the 6th richest club on the world and we can’t even get into the 1/4 finals of the cl
For anyone wanting to chat about Dortmund tonight, here’s a place you can. HH is an Arsenal fan blog…

Rico Rees Nelson scored a hat trick for England U17 today
Remember what I said.
Thanks Rick. Go girls…
I do recall what you said….
rico, no.
His a consequence of the performance in the season. We will buy in January if we will have in europe. If not, we don’t buy.
Jm, it should make no difference. For a proper challenge for the Pl, he should look at who could push us over the line if we are close..
Night all, chat tomorrow…
The Girls are one up
Good post… The wenger debate continues, my concern is now that he has lost his wife through divorce, he might think to himself oh I’ve nothing in my life now but Arsenal and want to extend his contract when imo he should be thinking of retirement…
As for replacing him Arsenal have the money to attract any manager imo only pep is outta reach but who knows maybe if he wants a challenge lol.
Scott. Yeah Hart has been overlooked as recently as the spurs match last wkend , and they paid for it as caballero was terrible, a GK is just one of those positions mate imo you don’t fuck about with ospina is not a bad gk but there is a reason wenger bought cech. Let’s just hope it pays of on Sunday. 🙂
Van pussy losing at celtic park… C’Mon the hoops
Sounds like the sisters are doing it for themselves !
Kev
Donovon on trial at Millwall, Akpom in England u21 team.

Kev, there’s only one William Perry.
The Girls beat mony bags man c 1-0 .
Guys, this Wenger out stuff is as boring as shit.
Seriously, the same few people are saying the same things every day.
We know how you feel, so give it a rest please.
Do you wonder why the number of posts each day are reducing….take a look at yourselves as you’re killing the conversation.
The funny thing is nobody is arguing your points, everyone accepts most of them, so why regurgitate them every 24 hours??
JM, I totally disagree, the club will be ‘more’ inclined to spend, in order to ensure they qualify next season…
That’s what ManUre did and now they are top of the EPL…
Rick, I thought he was on trial @ West Ham…
But Millwall is a good club for young players…
Come on the Bears…
Night Mick

I think people will discuss whatever is on their minds Scott get used to it… Each to their own and all that.
Pot calling kettle black, fucking hell……lol
Anyone agrees that Tuesday was one of those days where you miss a certain Lukas Podolski?
Wenger out!
He’s heading for a breakdown….
The AA man!
Morning all,
Sadly we can’t call our style of play attractive or attacking. We are pedestrian in the build up and extremely predictable. We haven’t got a single player that will try something or even take on a man.
Talk of us interested in Mahrez, why? Because he’s an exciting player who runs at pace with the ball, dribbles, takes players on and shoots – all the attributes our style sucks out of those exciting players.
Leicester, West Ham and Swansea are now the teams that play exciting direct attacking football and fantastic to watch. In my opinion we have too many similar players, cutting inside, doing the same old side ways pass looking for a gap in the double wall and no one making a run or needing a pin point and paced pass to pick out the runner.
Brad, I reckon going forward we can look good, just sometimes the final shot or pass let’s us down. As does shocking defending on nights like Tuesday..
Just hope all the wrongs get put right in time for Utd’s visit..
Morning all…
Morning, spot on brad the build up is just so slow at times which makes us very predictable, if we could just change it up a bit concede some possession and play on the counter more often with the pace that we have we could be lethal.
I agree we have to many similar thinking players cutting inside etc a proper winger would go along way for sure someone like moura from psg would be terrific for Arsenal imo.
This day 15 yrs ago Henry scored that amazing goal against utd at highbury 🙂
Morning All
Morning Rico
These AA types don’t really have a clue, when it comes to a Bentley…
Morning Kev…
Churchill for me… 😉
no, The budget for this season is based on income from CL, probably to reach the quarter-finals. A time, is based on the balance between revenues (eg CL) and expenses (eg salaries).
Decapitalize the Club is a risk. To buy has to sell; the bank’s money is to cover more investment but safe. Not to fund disaster of a season or to feed it failed.
a time = a season
Apparently Debuchy is thinking about leaving….
JM, the club, according to their own statements/spin (delete as appropriate) claim to budget for a season out of the Champions League.
Therefore their transfer plans shouldn’t be affected by a season out of the CL…
Of course they could have been lying to us, but surely that isn’t possible?!
Is it…???
Debuchy and Gibbs and Arteta and Flamini and Ospina and Szczesny, to name six, could be leaving by the end of next summer…
I don’t know about the squad needing two more players, we might be needing 6 or 7 by next August…
Isn’t it exciting Rico… 😀
Wenger: “You lack creativity in the press. You come back to the same story. You follow a bandwagon that is very, very, very boring.” #AFC lol
It’s the “I’ll do it my way at all costs” that winds me up big time about Wenger! Constant Russian roulette with the squad! Boring very boring!
Ive just wet myself at the thought of countless new players. The mind boggles!
Alternatively, we could see the promotion of all or most of the ‘promising’ children to the first team squad. That’d save a few bob! If project youth does fulfill its promise by delivering success, I’m all for it. More so than clamouring for ‘new’ players and ending up with a team of alright players but none with class, as per the spuds or livermuddle or any of the countless other teams who pay oodles of cash for crap, simply because they can!
Yes we may lose a number of players next summer but I don’t think we’ll see many coming in on expensive contracts but, I can see some of the U21’s finding their way in the first team. Mind you they may all turn out to be worse than those we let escape.
We’ll see!
Morning all, bright and sunny here, lovely.
Isn’t it just Kev, I can’t wait… 😉
Mind you, I might have found another sport to watch by then… 😉
I think Jenkinson will be back wavy along with hayden and martinez… not to sure there won’t be anybody on a big contract coming in tho, we still need that star striker and defensive mid…
Arsene Wenger threatens walk-out of his press conference
Friday 2nd October 2015
● SOCCERBy Kevin Palmer
Wenger fuming as Arsenal ‘crisis’ is stirred up by the media
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger threatened to walk out of his Friday press conference, as he came under fire from an aggressive press pack.
Wenger has faced three days of criticism following his side’s Champions League defeat against Olympiacos on Tuesday night and the pressure told as he faced questioning from his critics in the press.
With the questions flowing on why he dropped first choice keeper Petr Cech in favour of David Ospina for what he described as his side’s ‘must win’ Champions League game against Olympiacos last Tuesday, the Jose Mourinho grenade was then thrown into the mix to stir his pot to boiling point.
“Is Jose Mourinho right when he says there is only one manager who is not under pressure,” suggested a Sky Sport reporter, who must have know his question would produce an angry reaction.
Wenger’s repost was swift and unequivocal: “Look, stop that story or we stop the press conference.”
It was a fiesty exchange that summed up Wenger’s mood on a morning when he was asked few questions about Sunday’s game against Manchester United, with the Arsenal boss frustarted by the crisis that has been whipped up by his side’s latest disappointing result.
“You make decision because you have more information than I have and it is exactly the same in my job,” said Wenger as he touched on the Ospina/Cech debate.
“You come to the game, you judge the game and you assess if I am right or wrong. I never critiqued that, I accept your judgement of how the team played and your assessment, but I don’t have to give you all the information I have to make my decisions.
“I think the media lack a bit of creativity in the press at the moment, that you follow a bandwagon that is very very very very boring. I don’t go along with that.
“If you have any interesting questions for Sunday’s game I can answer, but apart from that let’s not come back always to the same story. Come to the game on Sunday, you will see who is in the goal. You have not watched well the game on Tuesday night.
“You come always with that same story… you can put the goalkeeper you want in the goal, he can make a mistake, you have to accept that. It’s down to everybody.
“But if you have watched the game and you come down the conclusion that we lost the game because of Ospina, I question your knowledge of football.”
Wenger is an angry man heading into Sunday’s game against Manchester United and his mood will only improve if his team get the win they need against the Premier League leaders
New post up.
