Wenger jets out, French agent jets in as triple deal on deadline day possible, but not probable….

Morning all.

Hope you’ve all got your yellow tops and ties on ready to join in the Sky Sports fiasco which is transfer deadline day. No? Me neither….

Wasn’t it this time last year, well not to the very day but the final day of the transfer window, when Arsene Wenger hoot-footed it out of London to Italy? Who is he off to talk to about signing for Arsenal we may have thought but that wasn’t his intention at all.

But in his absence, Arsenal sealed a late deal for Danny Welbeck, one which didn’t exactly please the manager as just a few days later he muttered the words similar to ‘Had I been in England, Welbeck would not have been at Arsenal’. Ouch, talk about make a player feel wanted….

Our late signing didn’t have the best of seasons, not when it comes to scoring goals but his work-rate could never be questioned. The most important goal came at his old stomping ground in the FA Cup. That was a good night for Arsenal wasn’t it….

Here we are again, last day of this 2015 summer transfer window and Arsene Wenger has left the building. Apparently, he’s been spotted boarding a plane destined for France, so of course, he’s heading straight to Paris, better still, Paris St-Germain.

When he returns, in his travel bag will be Adrien Rabiot and Edinson Cavani. Honest, it’s happening, The Metro report that we’ve offered £45 million for Cavani and PSG have only gone and accepted it……

Now that’s just the kind of news to get all Gooners excited on Deadline Day isn’t it…

Reports, well, idle chit chat perhaps, suggest that midfielder Rabiot has been watched many a time by Arsenal scouts and we’ve been after him for a while. I know, I know, it’s all too exciting, it’s hard to stay calm…

What about Edin Cavani? Second choice on Wenger’s long list of summer striker targets that his scouts and negotiating team have been working around the clock for the last three months on. They’ve been working so hard they must have suffered burn out having sorted the Petr Cech deal out and had to take time off.

Now they are fresh, rejuvenated and ready for these last few hours where they’ll give their all to get a couple of deals done… They know they are safe with Arsene Wenger in France, they can do it…

Maybe that is the Arsenal plan, get the manager out of the way and let the spending begin….

If football hadn’t become so serious it would all be fun wouldn’t it but it’s not. Here we are, nine hours left in this transfer window and still we hang on with hope that we will get a striker through the door and that much needed midfielder.

If by chance Rabiot and Cavani end up in the red and white of Arsenal, our season ahead may just look a lot brighter but somehow, I just can’t see it happening, not this late.

Sky sources reckon Galatasaray are trying to sign England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. They even go as far to suggest a French agent has been sent to London to try and complete a deal, but they’ve spoken to him and he has said he is not very hopeful. Me, I don’t even know why he bothered jetting in as I doubt Arsenal would entertain sell the Ox.

Thank gawd this last day of the transfer circus is nearly over, although I fear we’ll be left wishing there was another week to go…

That’s it for Tuesday, let’s hope it’s a good day for Arsenal FC..

Good post Rico, full of intrigue, clandestine meetings in motorway service stations, secret rendezvous’ in hotel restaurants, furtive phone calls, fax machines, press conferences, world exclusives, record signings, I can barely contain myself… 🙂

  2. Bob John says:

    Hi Rico
It wouldn’t matter if there was another month of the window to go. They have had since last January to sort something out. We have scouts all over the world who are working 24/7 and can sign 16 year olds from Romania yet we can’t find a single outfield player to improve a team that has only scored in one of the last six home games. Uneffingbelievable!

  3. rico says:

🙂 Kev, you left out ‘bollox’…

Morning Adam, Bob, Tai, Kev, Andrew and all again..

    He did Adam…

Welcome namo, you are not alone but we can only hope…

Bob, good point re the transfer window…

  4. Tai says:

Rico, I don’t think Wenger meant that about Welbeck…he said something tongue-in-cheek when a reporter tried to imply Welbeck was signed behind his back, ”yes, maybe he wouldn’t have been signed if I was around,” I can recall that as his response or something very close. He went ahead to say so many positive things about Welbeck to confirm he personally sanctioned the transfer.

  5. namo says:

Thanks Rico. A part of me still hopes for something özil-like, to happen. Even the players are low on confidence and need a morale booster.

  6. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

Three cheers for Kev who today was the first one to post. You could do a a voice makeover for film trailers Kev. you know, the drawling voice full of suspence, dread, fear and hope.

“Between the times when the oceans drowned Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aries, there was an age undreamed of. And onto this……..” I could almost imagine you saying those immortal words Kev.

    Oh bdw……good post Rico.

AW has gone to Paris to buy a unique red satin boxer shorts with white spots on it, it seems. And some white satin bed sheets as well. Nights in white satin, never reaching the end………

  7. Adam says:

Rico. I just rang my friend at Arsenal about that quote and she said that Wenger said that he wasn’t in town to complete the transfer rather than he wouldn’t have signed him. She also just sent me a press release with Arsene saying how pleased he was that he signed Danny from a few months ago.

  8. Lee says:

The months and months of planning are finally coming to fruition, you couldn’t make this bollocks up could you? Fucking joke….

  9. frednerk says:

Wenger has just got off a private jet,

Rumour has it we are about to

    …..sign the welsh international…

  10. bradster says:

    Morning all,

So Man united did a good job with de Gea. Screwing him around, losing out on 25m or so in the process and no replacement. Come Jan he’s allowed to talk to Real about free transfer. Best part is that LVG has 2 unhappy keepers who both feel and told are not wanted.

  11. bumba11 says:

Morning all – good read Rico as always!

I have some misguided hope left in me that Arsene has something left in his magic hat to show us all, however i’ve said that before and been proven wrong!
Its going to be a long day refreshing pages praying for some good news!

  12. scottfromoz says:

    We will sign two players.
    No question.
    Stop being miserable bastards.
    Ok…..the real version
I’m hoping we sign a player or two.
    I’m confident, but not positive.
I’m turning into a miserable bastard.
    Morning all.

  13. Alistair Stuart Mcmillan says:

Not looking very rosy people , why does he leave it so late same thing every year . We will not win the league with the squad we have .

  14. Wavy says:

    Morning all.

I’ve had my toast and marmite and I’m set up for the day. I’ve got Arsenal .com on my task bar and am refreshing it every five minutes. It is strangely unchanged, I wonder if the home page has frozen?
Dick Law seems to have a do not disturb sign on his hotel door, he’s in Qatar, it would seem.
Gazidis is at home with Kronke celebrating a wonderfully successful TW, how much money can the now transfer into their personal accounts from AFC? I mean, they’ve done very, very well!
Deflated moi? Not bloody half! What possibilities we had, what opportunities, what hopes we had! All have been dashed because we couldn’t prise any top, top players away from their respective clubs! What a load of bollocks.
I wrote once before that the only hope we had of signing new players this window was ‘no hope’ and, stack my vitals, I was right!
I’m off to contemplate my navel, I find it more rewarding the transfer dead loss day!

  15. bradster says:

Is that allowed after the window closes or is it Real can do as they please cos they are Real?

I’m loving their striker situation too. Rooney and a 19 year old who hasn’t played in the prem. Could be a Nicolas Anelka or a Franny Jeffers situation.

So Wenger is in Paris. Hope for Arsenal that this is not their “Woodward- in- Barcelona- moment”

  17. Simon Ngulube says:

It’s all nonsense….why wait until today…if Wenger wanted to buy on a serious note he should have bought earlier…like he did with Czech. Now gone to his home land to check on his mega million investment…he can’t careless, can he?…last year he did the same…he went to referee some stupid game…what a joke!

This year we will get stories of 16 year olds that’s all. Honestly no hope of any serious silver ware …oops! I forgot community shield..an absolute joke isn’t he?

We can’t always wait for last minute for what?

  18. scottfromoz says:

DNA, maybe he’s selling Nacho to PSG hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Simon, if he signs one or two top quality players, I wonder how many will admit they were wrong.
    It is not finished yet.

  19. Wath says:

Wenger in Paris means sweet FA, if we were buying anyone the talking would of been done and that team of ultra hardworking back up staff that have been at it 24/7 since April/May would be putting the final touches on any transfer…..!

Wenger is on a jolly up and we are observing a normal typical Tuesday…!

Scott, you’ll wake up to the Mrs next to you and the knowledge we’ve bought no one…!

  20. Wath says:

Can’t wait for the next “great” result at our concrete soup bowl… I think the crowd reaction will be very tell tale…!

  21. Wavy says:

Are France at home during this round of interlude games? If so, Wenger will be in Paris to commentate/summarise forgone of the fro French TV channels! Transfers??? Hooooooy! The only transfer Wenger will be involved in is the movement of his huge stash from France to Switzerland!
No chance Scott! You’re pedalling up a pipe dream! I wish you weren’t but there ain’t nufffin’ gonnarappen darn vee ems todeh!! Soz!

  22. frednerk says:

Wenger just been spotted in a paris
    sweet shop,buying a bag of
    100’s and 1000’s.
..Must be a youngen is after…

  23. Wavy says:

Oh and speaking of transfers……..I notice the chavs have loaned out 28 players to clubs around the world! No wonder Romanski won’t sanction any more players in! There’s no room for them on the time sheet! No in the changing rooms, they’ve had to order in a couple of porter cabins to accommodate them all this summer! There should be a rule limiting the number of players any club can sign up and how many they can loan out, plus the number of times a contracted player can be loaned away, season after season! It’s not fair on the ambitions of the player, his agent! Or really the home club!
Don’t know how many we’ve loaned out this time but, it seems quite a few. Not sure that it’s really in the spirit of being a footballer contracted and promised success at one club only to find himself playing, or not, at a club not of his choice or commitment!
Anyway, I digress. Have we signed anyone yet, either in Paris or Barcelona or even Barking?
    No! Thought not!!

  24. Wath says:

Well seeing as I am winning Scott it’s all bad news for you mate but I am a considerate person so I’ll be gentle with you……… A bottle of The Macallan Lalique 50 yr old…!

One decent signing of 20 million plus??
    Are we on 🙂

  27. Wath says:

You want a signed shirt in exchange for me getting some petrol induced vodka….. Bloody dodgy convicts from down under… typical….!

We won’t sign anyone for over 5,000,000 Zimbabwe dollars mate…………..!

  28. bumba11 says:

Reports from certain journo’s saying any movement very unlikely! This is a rare occasion where work is distracting me from the outside world and not the other way round!

  29. Wath says:

It’s the countdown to the inevitable…….. I am not even annoyed, I’m beyond annoyed….! It’s the let down and the enthusiasm that’s been crushed…! The knowledge that we are so close yet again to having what would be an ultra competitive squad yet we won’t go the extra mile our manager would rather whinge about others spending to much and that we cannot compete… Spare us the crap please Arsene we may not be able to compete with the sugar daddies but least show some ambition with finances we do have.

An owner who happy with the status quo a manager who happy to sit and follow his stubborn dream of I don’t need to buy to win and the fans paying through the nose to watch it all unfold and fall apart as i am sure it will as even a blind man can see we not good enough…

Sorry Scott I know the TW ain’t ended but this is how our manager makes me feel at the moment, I will not insult him nor disrespect him but boy he pisses me off big time and the fact he seems to disrespect us as fans who seem to “know nothing” is the ultimate piss take…!

Come on Arsene prove me wrong, show me, show us what that round the clock to do deals has made happen…?

  30. Joe says:

Afternoon all, enjoyed your post Rico now where’s all the he itk’s I was hoping for some info on Arsenal’s new £50m striker and Garth Bale signing for us.

  31. Wath says:

Andrew, you’re spot on mate, if we were as incompetent as these ppl at the club working around the clock we’d of been fired already. As many have already said what exactly do they do and what have they been doing the last 3/4 months…! Did Arsene tell therm to find him players as he has no clue as to who he should buy or did he tell them to go get him players X,Y and Z and they have failed dismally…? I’d like the answers on a postcard please.

  32. Joaquim Moreira says:

Have we been interesting in anyone from Leicester? A striker or a winger?
I asked this because Sporting had rejected 12 millions from Leicester last evening. Leicester would like to buy Carrillo (is a winger from Peru).
Is it possible soon Akcom come again?
Last game: average age – 28 years old.
Our squad is older and shorter. We can’t play in all the targets with the same intensity. Moreover, most of our players play international games for their own countries.
    Our ambitions?
Try to do the same then last year…

  33. Wath says:

JM, the papers were saying that we were interested in Leicesters Riyad Mahrez their Algerian winger…!

As you say the squad is older but we also said 4/5 yrs ago we lacked experience and now we don’t but I agree we struggle as a squad when we have to play three games in a week. You cannot blame the age of the squad though surely other clubs are just as old if not older and if we are honest it’s been a problem for years. We lack leaders and players who put in the effort when it really matters in my opinion but thats another topic entirely/

  34. Bob John says:

How typical of Arsenal these days that they took the opportunity yesterday to announce yet another money spinning partnership to boost the coffers even more yet still happy to charge megabucks for the privilege of watching the same old same old and drinking fizzy beer served by miserable staff. Meanwhile the money sits in the bank making Wiggy and the other shareholders money. As someone once said about another team “There used to be a football club there!”

  35. tsgh says:

Bt- re. Draxler. I am surprise wolfsburg bought him…

saying that with the money Wolfsburg have made of De Bruyne, thy can afford to gamble…

    Thanks Coach…

Funnily enough I had one to Terminal 4 this morning.

My passenger was French, flying out on Air France, but ‘she’ was not Arsene or Ivan or even Syrup…

    Good job though…

  37. Hell Raising Devil says:

Sky sources understand Manchester United will pay Monaco an initial £36m for the 19-year-old forward, making him the most expensive teenager in football history.

had I been the Manure chairman I would not have sanctioned that transfer. it wiill add up to nearly 50million pounds. too much for a teenager imo.

  38. andrewh1313 says:

I wasn’t sure to believe those Wenger lovers who blamed our limited spending (after sales of top players) solely on the board / Stadium building. For one, under criticism, surely AW would have said his hands were tied. But no, he was ‘too loyal’ to do that.

Well today, I’m even less sure. There can be no excuses. This is Wenger’s mis-management and we have less chance of catching Man City than ever. Fourth probably a battle with Liverpool. The board only take blame for allowing it. Can you imagine ‘Arry on transfer deadline day just ‘making a few inquiries but they came to nothing’. Poor manager, poor club, poor players, and it’s poor for us supporters.

  39. Wavy says:

At the beginning of the TW Monaco were asking €10m now due to manure’s dilly dallying he’s going to cost them an eye watering €80m! Bargain eh?

Thanks Joe re loanees. Do we know how many the oilers, the dippers and manure have off loaded for this season?

I have reached the conclusion that there should be a simple rule vis. If you buy a layer he is yours to play when you like but you may not send him elsewhere to play under any circumstances. The day of the loan should cease forthwith! Feel sorry for the little clubs who would not get good players at their clubs but………similarly the big clubs would be much more careful when recruiting ‘promising’ young players who then find their careers firstly stall and secondly collapse! Perhaps if more would be quality players chose to go to one of the ‘smaller clubs’ in a lower league and played regularly they may find that not only would they learn their trade but, they may find themselves at a much larger club where they very well may flourish! As it is, or seems to be, at present the big clubs or rather, the wealthy clubs Hoover up most of the talent throw them in the age grade teams, then loan them once, twice, three or even four years on the trot and sell them to a lower league club where they disappear into obscurity!
I would say that is hardly an exemplary method of playing with young boys’ dreams and ambitions. In fact it is possibly a form of immoral ‘trafficing’. Can’t be right, surely?

  40. Lee says:

Chelsea: Nathan, Baba Rahman, Pedro, Kenedy, Radamel Falcao, Danilo Pantić, Asmir Begović.

Liverpool: Christian Benteke, Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Ádám Bogdán.

Man City: Fabian Delph, Patrick Roberts, Kevin De Bruyne, David Faupala, Raheem Sterling, Nicolás Otamendi.

Man United: Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay, Sergio Romero, organ Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian.

Spurs: Toby Alderweireld, Son Heung-min, Kieran Trippier, Kevin Wimmer, Clinton N’Jie.

    Arsenal: Petr Čech

  41. retsub1 says:

    Wavy

Well said couldn’t agree more, can’t see it happening though.

Looking at the transfer activity of the other big clubs, has anyone done that well?

City spent over £100 million on De Bruyne (failed at Chelsea) and Sterling (upset the entire club at Liverpool)

United have spent an absolute bucket load ( are any of them top quality) and succeeded in upsetting their best player De Gea, how many points did he win them last season?

Liverpool continue to spend funds freely, but are they any better for it?

Chelsea are spending and Pedro could be interesting. But have they sorted out their leaky defence? I would suggest not.

Maybe it’s just me being cynical but if I had £200 million I wouldn’t have wasted too much of it on the above.

  42. Micko says:

There’s only so much Arsene can do in 62 days rico, looks like it’s all gonna come down to the 11th hour again !

  43. Lee says:

David Ornstein ‏@bbcsport_david 15m15 minutes ago
Very unlikely #AFC will make any signings today. Explored options but nothing was close & almost certainly no ins or outs now #DeadlineDay

Just in case you weren’t sure!!!

  44. Gdna says:

    Cohesion > new signings

This is not a surprise, its a yearly event. There is no player at any other club who could improve this current Arsenal team. People at Arsenal worked for 24 hrs a day for the last 3 months and was unsuccessful in finding a player up to standard. Lets get behind the lads and judge me in May because we will show mental strength and cohesion.

  45. Lewis says:

As usual the powers that be at arsenal gambling on our season.

Every year they suck us in that this year will be different, every year we fall for it.

  46. retsub1 says:

    Maybe Rico
He could well join a long list of failed centre forwards at Liverpool though. I think that might say more about the club than the player though.

Benteke Imo is a player who could prosper at the right club.

If I am honest I only really watch English football, so my knowledge of international players is limited, to press, U Tube , social media etc. so I was pretty excited by the likes of Benzema etc. have I ever seen him play…… Not really.

    Transfer fever methinks

  47. Micko says:

Well if it all goes tits up rico at least we can all brag about how much we’ll have to spend next summer, gotta go up at least another 50 million, some fans just can’t see the bigger picture.

  48. Wavy says:

Retsub 1, I totally agree with you and thereby hangs dear old Aresene’s problem. He wants only ‘top, top’players and there aren’t many of them about, not even potentially, just now. He knows he has a very good first thirteen or fourteen, but is six or seven ‘top, top’ players short of a supremely good, maybe great, squad plus covers. Good enough to win the CL and EPL! What should he do? He could have bought Schneiderlin, but he didn’t! Was that because he wasn’t/isn’t a ‘top, top’ player or might he have upset the squad? Was he simply overpriced? I mean who the f..k knows what goes on inside his cerebral bonce? Benzema was another, he really went after him, I believe, but in the end RM won the battle! The problem with the old codger is that he has no plan B if plan A doesn’t work he’s buggered! He had no second or fall back guy who would ‘do’! Strikes me, if I’m right, he has a very blinkered view of his needs and won’t compromise if at first he does not succeed!
So, here we all are then. We have got who we’ve got and we will go with what we’ve got becaus we have a squad of ‘top, top’ players already and plenty similar in reserve! Time will tell. If we have an outstanding season he will be exonerated and rightly so, but if he fails, again, he will be villefied and absolutely rightly so. You reap what you sow!

  49. Hell Raising Devil says:

    NEED A DEADLINE EXTENSION?

Premier League clubs will be allowed to go into extra-time tonight to get their deals completed. But what do clubs have to do to be granted an extension?

Well, our chiefs news reporter Bryan Swanson has just been explaining on Sky Sports News HQ that between 4pm and 6pm clubs have to submit a Premier League deal sheet which shows evidence of an imminent transfer including the fee, signatures from club officials and players concerned.

If this is received by the Premier League by 6pm then they will grant a two-hour extension.

So deals could be coming through well into the evening…

    YYYYAAAAWWWWWNNNNNNNNNN

  50. Gdna says:

The powers that be at Arsenal does not understand that the money they save in the bank this year might only be able to buy 2 players next year, based on the crazy valuation of players. Alexis would cost 80 mil in this transfer window.

  51. retsub1 says:

Wavy I think that is a pretty accurate assessment.. I don’t profess to be a tactition but he seems to take an age to change tactics. Not picking on Chambers, but when he was getting roasted at Swansea last season, we didn’t have a plan B (similar to what you said about transfers) to protect him and we lost accordingly. The Liverpool game , Chambers was awful in the first half. People said he did a lot better in the second half, but as far as I could make out that was because the ball was down the other end. Now that may be because of tactical changes, but I couldn’t see anything obvious changing other than Liverpool sitting back

A few seasons back the team was flying with the exception of Almunia. Everyone and his dog knew that was our weak point and he was touted as chasing Given and the Fulham keeper ( whose name escapes me). But once again no plan B

He has of course got some ‘bargains’ on transfer deadline day. Squillaci, sylvestre, Jeffers etc so who knows

I still like the old sod though

  52. retsub1 says:

Spot on Lee.. If I remember correctly, Mark Hughes wouldn’t let him leave Fulham ( for the chance to play in the Champions League). Then a couple of weeks later Hughes left the club

  53. Lee says:

Just read this… Barcelona European champions whilst under a transfer ban have signed more players than Arsenal!

  54. bumba11 says:

Based on the above that other clubs have signed I would have liked Schneiderlin to add to the midfield and I think Pedro (while not needed as much) would have been a good buy and I see no reason why we couldn’t have put up a serious bid for them either.

Sure they may have chosen elsewhere, but I cant see that we have even tried!!!

  55. Hoffa says:

Now they’re saying Arsene’s in Paris trying to rap up Zlatan, not Cavani. Imagine if they were all wrong and it’s actually Verratti we’re after.

Well that would make my day anyway.

  56. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Ibrahim,
    Ibrahim,
    Ibrahim,
Ovic, Ovic Ovic we’ll pray for you

Zlatan ibrahim, Ovic please come in
Ovic Ovic Ovic we’ll pray for you

Even for just one year….Ibrahimovic will be awesome for us.

  57. Shubham says:

I see a meltdown. If the team doesn’t show up in the next few games, there will be mutiny. Wenger has brought this onto himself. As much I like him, he is a strange creature.

  58. Nashua Gunner says:

Rico. Going through this T/W everyday is a serious headache especially when you have no control over what AW Law and IG going to do. But just hope what Davil said is true, Cavani for OG12. Or we keep them both, the more the merrier.

  59. rico says:

Arsenal wouldn’t pay his wage demands Devil… Would they?

Shubham, he frustrates the heck out of me and as much as I admire all he’s done, his time is up for me….

If he wants Cavani, then pay the money because he has no choice at this late hour, same with Rabiot. yes, he’ll have to pay over the odds but that’s all of his own doing.

He wanted a bargain, well now he’ll end up with nothing and this great club of ours will suffer because of his stubbornness and ignorance …

  60. Joaquim Moreira says:

We need player not sell, change or loan players. Our squad is very short. We have only 2 gk in our squad for instance.

  61. rico says:

Jm, and Akpom on loan makes no sense at all, nor does Hayden imo as he offers more than Flamini. But then it should not have come to this at all…

  62. Micko says:

Cut & paste rico lol !

So Arsene obviously thinks that Cech will the difference between us finishing 3rd last season and Champions this one, dear oh dear.

  63. Lewis says:

Arsene obviously not that keen on adding any major trophies to his collection before he retires then.

So infuriating, same old shit year in year out. He’ll run his favourites into the ground again, only make changes once they’re injured.

    Groundhog arsenal.

  64. Micko says:

rico, don’t let the bastards get you down, if they don’t give a fcuk…………….

Not gonna let it spoil my evening.

  65. Gdna says:

I hope the fans unite for the best interest of the club and get rid of all this nonsense of defending the indefensible. At the same time we have to take in consideration we are relying on these same people to make us happy/do the right thing, who refused to pay poor people minimum wage.

  66. scottfromoz says:

    Morning all.
    So what now?
Wenger has backed himself into a corner, and left himself absolutely no excuse NOT to win the League……..
So, we have our squad, it’s done.
People can and will keep whinging each and every day, or they can back what we have.
At seasons end, no League title should mean no Wenger.
A disgraceful effort by those involved, as blind freddy could find players to improve us.
No more defending the club, and its policies.
    What a shocker.
Wath, I owe you some Nicaraguan rocket fuel 🙂

  67. scottfromoz says:

And DNA, you want us United?
How’s about you actually support the players for a change?
You never have, so while it’s good and well to demand people stop defending Wenger, you should start supporting the players we do have.
    Deal?

  68. rico says:

They won’t get me down real Micko, tbh, like you, I knew it was coming… Just sad for all of us, all of us who hoped things might change……

Thanks Andrew, I’ve just had a lovely takeaway and all is forgotten….. I wish,,,

  69. rico says:

Gdna, we have been here before sadly… But I’d rather the fans didn’t revolt like others club fans do, I don’t honestly believe the manager should be subjected to that. But rather, I’d like him to realise that his days as a top manager are over, walk away at the end of the season and let Arsenal move onwards and upwards….

  70. Gdna says:

    Fans of Arsenal ‎@FansofArsenal2

£823.55m (almost a billion) is spent in the transfer window,of which only £10m is spent by Arsenal.Only team to not sign an out field player

  71. Lewis says:

Spot on Scott. I for one will try a little bit harder to get behind the team. Sadly for a while now I’ve lost faith in the manager and board etc. they mug us off year in year out.

I was offered a ticket for the Liverpool game for £80, I turned it down as I don’t see how its value for money. They expect us to fork out those prices for games and hoard away the cash when it’s glaringly obvious we need some reinforcements in the squad.

    Sigh….

  72. scottfromoz says:

And there you have it, DNA.
You say you want us to untie?
    That’s laughable.
All you want is other people to suddenly turn bitter and abuse Wenger.
Support the boys, and forget Wenger, for now.
As people say, it’s Arsenal FC, not Arsene FC…..there’s more to the club than the man.

  73. scottfromoz says:

As someone said, only a few months until we go through it all again lol.
    Bloody TW’s.
Have no fear, I’m as disappointed and angry as anyone, but it’s done.

  74. andrewh1313 says:

Bet Cech is taken aback. He thought he was joining a team that could compete for the league. If our squad overhauls Man City, already five behind, I will take each and every one of you for a drink!

  75. andrewh1313 says:

I just hope that without players being affected, crowd gets a chance to boo Wenger and let him know what supporters think. Shame he would never read a fan forum.

  76. potter says:

Once they are on the pitch they have my full support whether or not I believe in their individual abilities. The manager though I have always doubted his ability to think on his feet and he will receive little support from me should things go pear shaped as the season progresses.

  77. scottfromoz says:

See there already scumbags on Twitter wishing Wenger were dead.
Makes you proud to be a Gooner knowing pure filth like that exists, doesn’t it?
Andrew, as long as they don’t boo during games, I reckon it’s fine.
During games can and will affect the players.

  78. scottfromoz says:

Potter, the disappointing part is Wenger didn’t have to make any quick decisions here….he’s had months.
Poor tactical decision under pressure are one thing, but this is another.
    Bloody disappointing.

  79. andrewh1313 says:

Scott, I think he’s like a politition so far removed from supporters opinion. Do you think he realises how hurt he has left the fans? We are are pretty moderate lot here I feel, and yet 99%’of us are gutted. While he is out drinking wine in a French bar i expect like last night. Just wish he knew how we feel about supporters money being left in the bank earning nice interest.

  80. Gdna says:

Potter, give it up bro, the guy is finished. All that’s keeping him at the club is reputation. Its a sad the way the transfer window ends, but is he the right person to buy players and get them to perform at a level that is their true potential? NO!

  81. Hell Raising Devil says:

To say I am dissappointed is an understatement.

I still cant believe it that he did not sign at least a DM as cover for Le Coq. Yes Cech will surely raise the bar and give us a defensive edge, but we need more cover in deep lying midfield. And Le Coq would have improved if he had someone of experience beside him or challenging his place.

with regards the FW I am of a different opinion though. Theo and Ollie are getting in good positions and that is 95% of scoring. yes they may both be going through a barren spell but I have always believed that goals should be shared from all over the pitch. Not one person only. And tbh, Benzema is similiar to Ollie and Cavani does not fill me with excitement. Imo, three players would have improved the CF position…….as a type of gladiator physique…..Ronaldo, Bale and Ibrahimovic. otherwise we would have had a like for like.

  82. scottfromoz says:

Andrew, I doubt he’d listen to them, anyway.
It’s his way or the highway….aided and abetted by an owner and board without the balls to set him straight, and who are more concerned about profits than running a team who wins Titles.
There’s a post going around with a photo of a Highbury and The Emirates alongside each other.
    People asking why we moved.
If we stayed at Highbury, we’d be even worse off.
The move to The Emirates has done what it set out to achieve…..make us able to compete financially.
The cash is there to help us compete, it just isn’t being spent.

  83. andrewh1313 says:

HRD, you don’t think someone like Charlie Austin even, worth putting on for twenty five minutes when our forwards are blank firing as has been the case recently?

  84. scottfromoz says:

Devil, unfortunately, plenty get excited as soon a half decent player is linked to us, and instantly, that play become better than he actually is, in the eyes of fans.
We lose Coquelin, we are well and truly stuffed.

  85. allezkev says:

I wonder, with probably upwards of £250m in the bank, if the club will reduce season ticket prices next summer?

  86. Hell Raising Devil says:

imo i would have taken a punt on Rodwell and Austin. between them they would have cost around 20mill. and give us strength in depth. plus I believe both would have improved under AW and also been a plus for our side. Gibbs is not playing and he gets selected for the national team. I would have bet anything that they would have joined him.

  87. scottfromoz says:

Kev, an increase is nigh lol.
I’ll say it again……nothing will change at all whilst Stan is at the helm.
A new manager will be forced to tow the line or leave.
Sacking Wenger may improve things short term, as a change of manager almost always does, but does anyone honestly think a new manager will suddenly mean the club spends up?
I know some do and that’s a worry lol.
That’s why finding our next manager is going to be dicey.
Established guys won’t touch us because of the financial side of things.
    Newbies are always a risk.
Are our board capable of finding his replacement???
Maybe that’s another reason Wenger will roll on……they don’t have a bloody clue what’s next!!

  88. Wavy says:

Thank goodness that’s all over for another year, I don’t count Xmas event!

Hate to say I told you so but, I told you so. I knew he was keeping his hands in his pockets and his wallet in his shoe. He just won’t pay silly money for anything that doesn’t equate to his criteria of ‘top top’ and I’m not sure any of the clubs who have paid mega bucks for players this time have got anything more than just above average performers! £49m for a 5ft 6inch 20 year old is or will ever be good value. No, I don’t blame the old skin Flint for keeping his hands in his pockets. Imo we have players who are potentially better than all the new imports, only problem is, they are all loaned out!
    Next year then!

I shall sleep peacefully in my bed tonight, the best night’s sleep I shall have had in weeks. I really thought Wenger would buy some dope, for the sake of it and create more nightmares, on the pitch, than solving any need for the club and its rise up the EPL!

    Arsene k b, well we’ll see!

  89. tsgh says:

It appears AW rates Coq as much as most fans do and so he was not keen on bringing anyone in that position especially with Flamini refusing to leave…
perez wanted to sell Assier to us but apparently we wanted him on loan and they player refused to leave spain because of euro…
silva wants an EU passport and so was not gonna come to us on loan..

  90. Hell Raising Devil says:

TR07, Arteta and Flamini can screw us if they want. As from January they can talk to any club….PLUS….they can buy out the remainder of their contract. Now imagine that they have just 1.5mill left in their contract…..they will buy it and they will ask for the new club to refund it. If the new club wants to do so nothing can stop those three from leaving.

I do not think Arteta will do it……but I feel the other two might ponder doing it.

  91. tsgh says:

Saido Berahino ‏@SBerahino 4h4 hours ago
Sad how i cant say exactly how the club has treated me but i can officially say i will never play Jeremy Peace.

  92. Nashua Gunner says:

    Thanks Ts.

I really wanted us to have a new striker. I’ve been saying that since the day we bought Ozil. Theo is not a striker, but a player who goes missing during games.

  93. Hell Raising Devil says:

The same thought crossed my mind Ginge. why send them all out on loan and buy no one?? Just went through the academy and tbh only three can play and cut out a good figure imo. Iwobi, Reine adelaide and Bielik. the rest are all untried.

Maybe he has already agreed with other players to join in January for a better fee??? but I doubt it.

  94. Nashua Gunner says:

AW makes it so so hard to defend his reputation in times like this. When we don’t have the money we understand. But now we have the money. Now we’re going to lower our expectations in games so we don’t get disappointed.

  95. allezkev says:

Coach, I guess Wenger sees Arteta as cover for Coquelin, and Flamini.
A year down the line Bielik could be ready to step up to the 1st team squad and both Arteta and Flamini will leave…

  96. tsgh says:

kev- fans want Hayden to get the chance in CDM.

If Coq and the 2 pensioners can deputise then hopeful Hayden will be ready next summer.

i think Kamara has a strong chance too..

  97. tsgh says:

Do we know if AW failed to identify targets though?

When we make big signings its IG’s heroism; when we fail to sign a playe its AW’s fault…

from the little we all know our negotiators are next to ‘useless’.. excuse the pun…

    Cabaye negotiation comes to mind…

They could not even get Arteta over the line 3 years ago until AW called from France2 hours before window closed…

  98. Rick says:

    Evening all.
Just like you I am surprised he did not sign a Goal scorer and cover for Coq.

But is it possible that he has sent some of the players on loan with a recall clause
just to get them playing time.

He must name the Squads for the Champions League ( 1st and U 19) tonight and if he names some of them it will indicate if he has.

  99. tsgh says:

    Nothing to do now..

we all back the boys so we can finish as high as we can…

2nd place is on the plate for us… Pogba and Cavani in January and all will be forgiven. 😉

  100. tsgh says:

    Hi Rick,

Do you know why Mavididi is being played upfront?

Micko, have you seen the Ghanaian Marcus Agyei-Tabi representing you at youth level…? One for the future for sure…

  101. Rick says:

Ginge you know my thoughts on Isaac but it seems that Bruce is playing him as a D/M
and he is getting good reports. Could he have a recall clause
I agree with you on Kamara most seem to have forgotten about him.

  102. Hell Raising Devil says:

on paper we have 24 players, but I am including Campbell, Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky. Rosicky is already out injured so that is 23. Campbell is never played. so that is 22.

    Is that enough?? imo no.

Kev, we cannot say a year down the line. I cannot even say tonorrow. who knows what will happen.

yes I would like AW to defy everyone and win it with what we have. but I am realistic as well. I believe in the players we have but that does not include Flamini and Campbell. Arteta I like but I do not believe in him anymore as he is getting old. Rosicky is injured so he cannot be included.

we needed at least another body in midfield.

It is no coincidence and by no means unreasonable when I said that we need 4 more players. A striker, a DM and two squad players who can play in many positions.

Get rid of those I mentioned above (sadly Arteta as well) and get 4 new players in.

  103. Rick says:

He is a C/F Ginge. Along with Sheaf Hinds and Willock he is playing for England U18
this w-end and for England U17 in Chile(World Cup) in Oct.

  104. rogerbij says:

Been on a plane all day. I heard fans are in meltdown, so I came to check if the HHouse was on fire. You all are holding up pretty well. Good job. Only good thing that comes out of this (apart from the jokes) is holyshamoly we have a lot of young players on loan!!

  105. Micko says:

tsgh, that’s what happens when you spend your summer holidays in Dublin lol ….poor kid !

rico, don’t even bother to put yourself out tomorrow, dear ole Arsene has already seen to it that your post will go down like a cup of cold sick !

    Nite Gooners, keep it real.

  106. Joaquim Moreira says:

My counts: a) 2 gks (!!!) more 2 on loan. One injury or suspend or both we call who? With so many games and usually in Arsenal, is it credible both will be fit during all season? Moreover, they are not very young.
    b) In average, we have 6 players between injury, ill and suspend. Now we have Ozil.wilshere,rosicky,Welbeck,Mets. We pray nobody will be injury in international fixtures.
    c) So, usually we have between 17-18 players fit. If Campbell and Flaminy are out of the sum, we have just 16 players, if we are optimist, where 2 of them are gks.
    d) Another point, for me very important: we have arround 10 players over or with 29-30 years old, more then 1/3 of the squad who usually can’t be fit for 2 games a week.
    e) If AW haven’t total confidence in all the players (like Campbell) what can we expect?

Conclusion: I think the squad is very short and deficit in some positions

January is always much more difficult sign someone. Besides, the season’s targets could be lost on january. Probably we must do what we have done in the past: call the players on loan, if it’s possible..

  107. allezkev says:

Ginge, Kamera is good, but from what I’ve read/heard Bielik is better…

As for Hayden, I really like him, but it makes me wonder, if he had a future at Arsenal, especially if there was any truth in the rumour of Wenger bidding for Rabiot?

  108. allezkev says:

Btw, Chelsea have 32 players out on loan…

They signed a young player from Reading today and immediately loaned him, back to Reading…

    Wtf is that all about…

    32 ffs… :rol:

  109. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

Its the day after today. And we are left to recover all the destruction tha has been created by the lack of explosion yesterday.

So this year AW has spent only 10mill. Factor in the sale Podolski and the release of Diaby and other players and the net spend has surely gone down.

Will AW get lucky for failing to secure a striker and a DM?? Will JC suddenly step up the plate and start banging them in from the subs bench??? He needs to be played first and foremost and not left to rot there.

  110. rico says:

    Morning Adam and all…

Sadly Adam, I doubt Kroenke feels the same… I could be wrong of course.

This is going to be a very long season….

  111. Kel says:

Fight for 4th it is then, there really is no defending wenger anymore any respect I had for him is gone. Genuinely couldn’t give a fuck about this season now.

  112. Hell Raising Devil says:

The team as it is right now…..till Christmas

    Cech
    Ospina

    Bellerin……………………..Per……………..Kos……………………Monreal
    Debuchy……………………Gabriel……….Chambers…………..Gibbs

    Coquelin……………………Cazorla
    Arteta………………………Wilshere

    Welbeck………………..Ozil………………..Sanchez
    OX………………………..Aaron……………..Campbell

    Ollie
    Theo

Then there is Flamini (DM/RB/LB), TR07 (DM/RW/AM), and Bielik, Kamara, Reine adelaide and Iwobi

yes the team is strong……..but is it strong enough.

  113. rico says:

Yes Kel, same old same old…

Kel, that’s far from a PL winning side. So far, it’s embarrassing..

I do wonder what some of those players think this morning….

  114. Malaga gooner says:

    Morning Rico and all
I’m still very angry with wenger
I don’t blame kronke and gazidas, wenger runs the show
I have said it 100s of times, we need a manager thats not interested in finances
I wonder if wenger is leaving the bank balence for the next manager, i hope he retires at the end of the season.
Sad the way it has turned out, would of liked to see him go out with a bang

  115. Adam says:

I love the way that, as soon as he is sure Benzema isn’t arriving, Giroud starts bleating on about how great it would be if he came to Arsenal.
From what I can see and whichever way you slice it, this transfer window has been very significant for Arsenal and the conclusions are entirely negative for both this and coming seasons.
No doubt a new contract for Arsene is in the offing.

  116. Kel says:

No matter what I’ll always want Arsenal to win so I hope a few of those players ie, Theo, Giroud, welbeck take it as a positive that no striker was signed, Theo in particular needs to step it up now he’s not a child anymore.

  117. Hell Raising Devil says:

MG, Kel…..can you honestly put it in writing under and oath that signing Benzema/Cavani and Krychowiak/Verratti as CF and DM respectively would have won us the title and or CL???

Falcao and Di Maria were two of the top players in the world yet they flopped at Manure.

Imo, stating that signing a CF and a DM would have won us the EPL and/or the CL is both naive and arrogant on the same level of AW proportions.

I am not defending AW. Far from it. There are holes and gaps in certain areas in the team and too many times we have square pegs in round holes.

I am merely stating the obvious.

No team, except Celtic, Barca, RM and BM are secure of winning the league……and then again its usually a one horse or two horse race in those countries.

The EPL is the most unpredictable of all.

Shittty seem strong atm. but there are still 34 games to go.

  118. Adam says:

Morning Kel. I’m still wondering why on earth Wenger gave him a £7 mill a year contract. He has done little to warrant that really. Glimpses of promise here and there interspersed with injuries. But I guess that, if he had gone, there is no way he would have been replaced, just like all the others.

  119. Hell Raising Devil says:

Remember how everyone ridiculed SAF when Kanchelskis, Cantona and a couple of senior players left Manure and SAF promoted Beckham, Scholes, NevilleX2. Hansen himself stated that you win nothing with kids.

    WHAM BAMM

    They won the league.

  120. Kel says:

Well Dev we’ll never know as wenger didn’t sign a defensive mid or striker, I never stated we would win the league if we signed both but the chances of winning the league imo would have been far better.

Morning Adam, yeah I’m glad Theo did stay because your right he would not have been replaced. But he needs to step up now, ad does Danny when he’s back.

  121. Malaga gooner says:

    Devil he had the money
I can’t say we would of won the title, no one can, but signing two high profile players would of given every one from the fans to the tea lady a huge boost.
We have always been two or three players away from competing, big clubs make sure they buy those players

  122. Lee says:

    Embarrassing to say the least!

“MG, Kel…..can you honestly put it in writing under and oath that signing Benzema/Cavani and Krychowiak/Verratti as CF and DM respectively would have won us the title and or CL???”
We will never know BUT we certainly know that without them we DEFINITELY won’t win the PL or CL!

We will pick up our usual injuries and have to rely on sub standard players that still are on our books all rather predictable!

I’m looking forward to Wenger’s smug grin at the next presser, the man has to leave asap!

  123. Adam says:

    I can imagine Rico. 🙂
It’s interesting how we, as fans, lurch from one hope to another, one TW to another. What drives us is the thought of re-establishing the club at the top of the English game and conquering Europe.
The problem is that it has become quite apparent that, from a business point of view, Kroenke et al do not share this view. The club is drowning in hype, bullshit and bollox. There is so much shit going on internally that you wouldn’t believe it. When you care but those around you don’t, you either leave or shrug and take the money.

  124. Lee says:

Theo on £140k pw is terrible business, the bloke touched the ball 10 times v a ten man Newcastle at the weekend! He had a couple of chances and fucked them up, he simply isn’t a striker imo!
But I guess he toes the Wenger company line like loads of the current under achievers.

  125. tsgh says:

We spent less than any other team across the top 5 leagues in Europe participating in UCL/UEFA this season…

Surely, AW is aware of some imminent financial depression coming up…

    Morning Rico and fellow HHers…

Thanks Rick for clarification on Mavidivi.
I thought I saw he play midfield a few times last season… maybe because Akpom was in the team…

I like the look of Bennacer too…. a bit too young though.

It appears Zelalem is doing ok up north across the border…

  126. Adam says:

Morning Brudder. At least that would force the issue wouldn’t it? That’s why I say that Gary Monk must look terribly attractive to Kroenke. Spends no money, is hardly likely to be caught in a brothel with his strides round his ankles, wears odd cardigans over a shirt and tie, seems like he understands how to win, doesn’t spend any money, likes a freebie, is tactically aware and doesn’t spend any money.

  127. Kel says:

Lee… exactly we ain’t winning any PL or CL… This yr that’s for sure. I wonder what Alexis and Ozil think of this shambles, I’m guessing they were most likely assured of the direction the club was going ie investment and recruitment etc….

  128. Hell Raising Devil says:

Lee….remember when you used to say we would never win another cup under AW???

Well now he has won 2 FACups.

All he has left are the EPL and the CL.

If he wins those two I can assure you that YOU will be the first one to say that under him we will not win the League Cup.

    I rest my case.

  129. Adam says:

Don’t worry about out marquee players leaving Kel. We’ve got some great young players coming through who will do the biz. 🙂
    Honest.

  130. tsgh says:

It appears the manager and owner are in cahot. Do they truly want to win the EPL or UCL; unless by fluke.

The maths from a financial perspective tells me that the return on investing to win the EPL or UCL is not attractive to Kroenke…

Also, watching/listening on the sidelines as a fan (through the mediareports), whilst Jorge Mendez gives the Man U Institution the go- around was hilarious; it must be said.

How Yanited thought perez would pay over the odds for a goalie who can be purchased for less than £10m in 4 months time shows how naïve those in charge of negotiations are at both Yanited and Arsenal. imho…

January bidding war for Pogba will be something else…

Listening to Piers Morgan go on about how £50m or £60m would have clinched Benzema whilst Ramon say it was highly unlikely Benzema would ever have been sold considering RM only has Jesse as backup goes to show how frustrated we fans have become due to the misplaced hope…

  131. Lee says:

I never said that, I said we’d never win the PL or the CL with Wenger in charge….I still maintain this! “All he has is the EPL and the CL” well as long as he has a hole in his arse he ain’t winning them!

I really couldn’t give a fuck about the League Cup do YOU?

  132. Kel says:

I’d love to believe that Adam, but a club that generates over 300m a yr and has imo a healthy 70-80m to spend now every summer. Shouldn’t need to be relying on its youth. By all means let’s continue to try the best we can to produce quality youth if they’re good enough they’ll make to the top.

I aint holding my breath tho. 🙂

  133. Hell Raising Devil says:

How Yanited thought perez would pay over the odds for a goalie who can be purchased for less than £10m in 4 months time shows how naïve those in charge of negotiations are at both Yanited and Arsenal. imho…

    Are you sure Ginge???

When AW does something like this and holds his ground when he knows that he could purchase a player for far less in January we call him all the names under the sun, yet when Perez or some fuckitall does it we call him a genius.

One rule for them another rule for our club.

  134. tsgh says:

Akpom- in my view willdo better than Kokorin etc that we were linked with…

The likes of Lewandowski and Benzema rumours were pure hogwash in my view.

I would have liked Jesse of RM or Berahino though…

Maybe AW thinks Akpom has a chance.

Kev- re your post from last night re Rabiot. It is puzzling indeed if the bid was true…

I guess the comfort is that Hayden is very dissimilar to Rabiot. Rabiot would have rivalled JW more in my opinion..

Rabiot has been playing next to experienced Motta and Matuidi in midfield for Psg. Verratti ha splayed deeper than rabiot on occasions too…

  135. Lee says:

Pointless talking about who we could or should of signed, Wenger thinks this squad is good enough….. we’ve just got to get behind them, hopefully get the coveted fourth spot and maybe another cup!

Oh to be a fucking Gooner!

  136. Lee says:

    Gazidis in 2012…

“As we look to the next two, three years we will have an outstanding platform on which to compete with any club in the world.
Now we are in that stadium, the first part of our vision has been realised. Now we are at the stage where some of the commercial deals that were tied into the construction of the stadium, and enabled us to take that first big step, will be renegotiated.

“When that happens, we will take the second big step forward and that will be comparable in magnitude to moving to the stadium itself. At times it’s been a challenging project, but we will have catapulted ourselves into the elite clubs on the European scale and that, for us, has been what the last 10 years has been about.

“Very clearly, it will push the club forward and put us into the top five clubs in the world in revenue terms, which will be a fantastic position to be in.”

    What a crock of shit!?!?

  137. bradster says:

    Morning all,

Now that Wenger has an even smaller squad will he still play the starting 14 to death or rotate the players.
I wonder if Gibbs and Campbell might get a chance to play this season?
Anyone know if the youngster’s loans are shorter than 6 month and we could expect one of them back?

  138. potter says:

That’s not to say that he should stay. When he does there will be a mass defection. Most of these players are here because of his laid back style they will not like a manager that pressurises them. It’s a bullet we will have to bite and go down before we come back up. Thus it has always been.

  139. tsgh says:

Agreed Potter.Do you think the right appointment might deter a mass exodus though?

AT BVb a few players wanted out when Klopp left but after a week under Tuchel they all wanted to stay…
